I just tried out a book that’s all about Whoopie Pies. One of the writers of the book (Amy) is also the editor of my book, Cake Pops. Amy sent me a copy to check out and I couldn’t be more excited for her.
I made and fell in love with these sugar-filled sandwiches. They are delish! They’re like little cakes shaped like cookies… (but pie-like… not so much.)
It’s funny… when I gave these treats away, everyone loved them, but no one knew what to call them. Everyone asked “What are they?” It made me wonder how common they are in other places. Have you made whoopie pies? Heard of them? Seen one out in the wild?
No worries if you haven’t. Now you can make your very own. The book is organized for easy reading.
There’s a section devoted to cakes…
And a section devoted to fillings. Great for mixing and matching and making whoopies.
Lots and lots of whoopie.
Yum!
I decided to make the classic chocolate whoopie (big surprise) and paired it with peanut butter filling. The recipe called for dark brown sugar. I used this dark muscovado sugar instead because that’s all I had on hand. It made them extra tasty.
After you mix up the batter, drop it by spoonfuls on a parchment covered baking sheet.
After they bake and cool for a few minutes carefully remove them from the parchment paper.
Place them flat side up on a cookie rack. Then you can spoon the filling on…
Or pipe it on.
I like piping it on. It’s much more fun.
And prettier to look at.
Sandwich the filling between two of the cakes.
And press gently. That’s it.
Whoo-hooo for whoopies. Now go make some.
1 Tbsp of batter should make about 48 two-inch cakes or 24 pies. Recipe from Whoopie PiesChocolate Whoopie Pies
Ingredients
Chocolate Whoopie Pies
Salty Peanut Butter Filling
Instructions
Notes
2 Tbsp of batter should make about 30 four-inch cakes or 15 pies.
You can also roll the edges in sprinkles, chopped chocolate, nuts, etc. or in this case, peanut butter morsels.
Ummm… can I say these are just about the most fun things to eat. They’re so good you kinda feel like you’re being bad when you sink your teeth into them.
Want to make some whoopies?
Amy sent me a second copy to do with what I want. And I want to give it to one of you. Want it?

Yes, I’ve heard of whoopie pies, but not until I moved to LA. The grocery stores have them all the time–I’ve even seen red velvet ones. Yumm!
Looking forward to baking some up. Thanks!
I’m definitely gonna make some of these sometime this week, they look delicious.
I looove whoopie pies (also known as gobs)!! Although I have made them before, I usually buy them from the Amish who make my absolute 2 favorites: peanut butter cake with peanut butter filling and chocolate chip cake with white filling…yummy!
I have never made them but I’d love to learn how..they look so good!
I made the red velvet with cream cheese filling ones you have on the site. I sent them with my husband to work and he said everyone LOVED them! I sort of forgot about them until now, I’ll have to make some new variations I guess. What a shame! :)
I’ve heard of them, but have never made them. These look yummy. I bet they would be good with a mint chocolate filling.
LOVE them! My Mom told me that she ate these back in the day all the time! Like Laverne and Shirley! Trader Joes has a great carrot cake woopie! SOOOO Good! Addicting! The pumpkin Spice woopies sound super!
I love whoppie pies! You see them alot in Boston!
Oh my! Looks delicious! Never made whoopie pies but bought the carrott cake ones at Trader Joe’s many times!
I’ve heard of them, but never taken the plunge and made some. Looks like I’ll have to try them out!
Best place for whoopie pies is my Grammies kitchen! She makes the best ever! She learned from her mom in Maine. I love making them and eating them!
I totally want to make some whoopie! Please choose me!
Of course I have heard of whoopie pies! Although I always thought that only the classic whoopie pie was the only kind to make – whoooooopieeeeee!!!! Now I know there are more recipes!!!
I’ve heard of them – my mother LOVES them – but have never had them. I’d love to make these and surprise her!
I’ve never made whoopie pies, but I do remember enjoying moon pies when I was a kid. It was a marshmellowy filling sandwiched between two graham cracker like cookies & covered in chocolate. yum!
I have heard of them, but never made them. The closes I have come is ice cream sandwiches.
I have heard of them, but unfortunately i have never tried them.
I would love to make these sometime!
I’ve heard of them (of course) but have never eaten one! They are really rare where I live, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a regular whoopie pie (I’ve seen Dulce de leche filled ones though!).
I’d love to be able to share the Whoopie pie love that seems to be going round in the interweb!
My husband’s Bubba (Grandmother) from up North makes these Woopie Pies every year and sends them down to the family every Christmas. They disappear minutes after they are opened up!! Soooo yummy! I’m definitely going to have to make these peanutbutter ones for the next family dinner!!!!
These look so yummy!
I’ve heard of them, but I’ve never eaten them. Thanks!
I love Whoopie Pies!!! I’ve always wanted to make them. I need that book!!!!
I’ve made them one time, but I made the cookie part too big. They were still yummy, though.
I have never made them.. but they look really good!!
I have made these once before many, many years ago. They were awesome! So awesome that I am completely shocked that I ever forgot about them.
Heard of them and want to learn more!
Ohh, these look good! Seen things like these but have never eaten any.
Wow…bakerella….you never seem to dissappoint! I can’t wait to make these peanut butter ones for my friends birthday next weekend!! Where can I buy this cookbook…..I NEED one!
Thanks for all of your awesome goodies….I love them!
Ooh wow these look amazingly delicious, yum peanut butter!
Whoopies are just starting to come about here in the UK, I only heard about them last week actually!! Yumm they look good, may have to make some hehe!
Oh yes I’ve had them, in Lancaster, PA. And I tried making some just this fall, I made some pumpkin ones that turned out delish. You can bet I’ll be giving this recipe a try!
I’ve never heard of them, but the book looks fun and the whoopies sound tasty!
I have made them, though we call them sweetie pies. I’ve only made the chocolate ones, but i’ve eaten pumpkin ones with cream cheese filling. YUM! Would love some more recipes for these delectable treats!
i’ve heard of them, haven’t tasted or tried to make them, but definately, definately want to do both. (what a cute book)
I’ve made red velvet versions too! They are wonderful with cream cheese filling
I’ve never made them, but I want to! And I don’t even bake!
Never heard of them, but really want to make them now!
I have never heard of them before but love to try some.
I used to eat these when I lived in Maine. I haven’t had one since moving back to the midwest, and am looking forward to trying the recipe!
Yes, I my early marriage days we moved from California to Connecticut where I learned all about Whoopie Pies. I still have my old recipe but would love to win this cookbook! Thanks!!!
I have never made whoopie pies but I might just have to now.
I’ve heard of them, but never seen or eaten them.
Yum! I have heard of them, but would LOVE to make them. They look delish. :) A perfect surprise treat for my husband.
I’ve also heard of them, just never made them!!
I’ve never made them, or had them, but they seem to be cropping up more & more in food magazines and on the internet. I’m a filling fanatic, so my guess is that I’ll be trying these little guys out before too long! They look great!
i have had them. yum. but i never realized they were called whoopie pies. hehe.
LOVE whoopie pies! Never made them, but can’t wait to try it out! I’m used to the ones in celophane, so fresh ones will be a real treat!
I made the red velvet whoopies you posted a while back. O.M.G. They were super fabulous and super easy! I would love this book so I can try my hand at making some more. I am a whoopie fan!!
Never heard,ate or made.
They look like what we call homemade oreos! I can’t wait to try your version!
I’ve heard of them but never made or ate them. I have a recipe for red velvet whoopie pies, but for some reason I haven’t gotten around to making them!
Oh, we call them homemade oreos. :o) We make them all of the time and create different fillings for them. Love them!!! But I just like ’em plain. LOL!
I’ve never made whoopies; it would be fun to!
never tried them before though they look mighty tasty!
My husband worked with a vendor who once shipped us a case of whoopie pies for the holidays. Seriously, an entire case. We shared them with family, friends and neighbors and got to try a variety of flavors…there was even a pumpkin one that was delish!
I love whoopie pies! I recently made some carrot cake whoopies for my dad’s birthday. They were delicious. I have dreams about trying out some more recipes, like s’mores whoopie pies!
I have heard of them, eaten them and made them! I love ’em and would certainly love to learn more about them!
I’ve never heard of them, but they look tres yummy. I’d love to try them!
I have never made Whoopie pies before, although I ate them as a kid. I bake for many different occasions including one of our local homeless shelters, our Senior Youth group at church and for my Senior bowling group in the fall/winter. I would be great to have a new resource for something different. I would love to have this new book.
Lancaster, PA is the best place to get Whoopie Pies! I love them and miss them now that I live in Texas. I say every year I am going to make them and don’t. Choc and peanut is yummy but my fav is Red Velvet. Can’t wait to go home to visit and eat some whoopie pies.
I am forever kicking myself that I never a) saw your contest for the Star Wars cookie cutters and b) am destined never to win these things, but I am going for this one! You always make such lovely things. It’s very inspiring.
Oh my they look delish! I’ve never made them though…I want to now…you make things look really simple :-)
We have heard them, eaten and loved them, but have never tried making them. They look so easy, not sure why I shell out the extra dough to BUY them. Would love to win the copy, but if not it will be on my cookbook to buy list. Thanks for another great giveaway!
Mmmmm these look so good! I love how you used peanut butter filling YUM!!!!!!!!
They look very good, I think I will have to try them.
I’ve heard of them, but never made them myself. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten them, either. They sound/look wonderful, though!
Nope, I’ve never made them before, never ate them, but I have heard of them! They look yummy and Chocolate and peanut butter–definitely one of my favorite pairings. : ]
Very very common in Massachusetts, and most of New England I think. I’m fairly sure I knew about them growing up near Philly too, but I could be making that up.
They’ve always looked *so* much better than they’ve tasted, so I’ve never bothered to make them, but maybe this book will change all that…
My sister made whoopie pies once, and while I never turn down cake or a cookie (or a combo of both!), I don’t think it was the most authentic recipe. Now I’ve got a jonesing!
I’ve been making and eating whoopie pies for over 20 years. I’ve only made the basic chocolate with cream filling. My favorite way to eat them is, after baking and filling with the cream, wrap them individually in wax paper, store in freezer bags and freeze. They store well in the freezer and are absolutely wonderful frozen. I’d love to have a variety of whoopie pie recipes at my fingertips.
I’ve heard of them…but never had or made any. Would love to try! :)
heard of them but have never tried them. now i want to!
i can’t believe this! i bought two copies of this book a month ago for my mom and grandma. it is *such* a beautiful book. i made the classic s’more’s whoopies before sending them off and i so wished i had bought myself a copy. chances are slim that i’ll win a bakerella giveaway, but oh how i am crossing my fingers!
i blogged and posted photos of my whoopies here: http://allweneedisamor.blogspot.com/2010/06/whoopie-pies.html
I love the idea of whoopie pies and I’ve seen them before. However, I’ve never baked or tasted them. They look and sound good. I would like to bake them myself and bake other goods like cookies and cupcakes. Winning the book will help me a lot, especially, that I plan to become a pastry chef!
I love that you’ve rolled the edges in PB chips!
hey! my mom has that bowl pictured in photo 3 (the fillings)..love vintage pyrex almost as much as whoopie pies! :)
I have made lemon whoopie pies using a recipe from Joy the Baker. And I made chocolate whoopie pies with peanut butter filling using a recipe from Martha Stewart’s cookie book. But I’ve never had one out in the wild, so I have no idea how they are “actually” supposed to taste. But I loved the ones I made. Thank you for the giveaway!
I’ve heard of them but have never had them.
Trish
Powder Springs, GA
I’ve heard of them from watching shows like “Unwrapped”, but I don’t ever remember eating one. They look really good, a nice softer version of cream-filled cookies. I would love to make some one day for one of our culinary events at school :)
I would love to make some of these for my husbands birthday later this month!! My mouth is watering just looking at them!
I’ve only had packaged whoopie pies before, too sweet and artificial. I think I’d really love a homemade one though!
My family loves whoopie pies, but we have never had homemade ones. I would love this book to make some specials homemade ones for my nieces and nephews! This summer is my season of baking new things too and I would love to add this to my list. Thanks Bakerella for all the ideas you post!
Becky.
I hadn’t ever heard of them until I saw the book in my Good Cook catalog; so I haven’t had one either. I have been successful in not purchasing the book thus far, and it’s been hard every time I get a catalog. So if I don’t win it, the cosmic forces are telling me I need to buy it!
i made them once about 21 years ago for my son’s school Christmas party. The girls cookies had red filling and the boys’ cookies had green filling. They loved them :)
I’ve never heard of Whoopie Pies. They kind of remind me of homemade Oreos. I am going to make the chocolate peanut version though. I love that combination.
I had my first whoopie pie in Amish country in Pennsylvania. It was so good! I made a red velvet cake version once, which was good, but the person I got the recipe from just called them sandwich cookies. Whoopie pies has such a nicer ring, I think. ;-)
does caksters count? i’m sure these are much tastier!!!!
The play on words with “making whoopies” is cracking me up. Yes, I’ve heard of Whoopie Pies, but I’ve never made them. Looks like a fun and relatively easy thing to make!
Hi, never heard of these, had one, or seen them…but now my interest is piqued! Thanks for sharing!
Kelly
I have always loved them but never made them
never heard of them, but they look delicious!
Never heard about them, put looking at your post will surely want to give it a try. Would love to have the book.
What a cute book! I’ve had them before, our school actually served them. I’ve always had the traditional ones though. The different filling looks like fun!
Heck yes I’ve made them! My fave…pumpkin chocolate chip. Those chocolate peanut butter ones look GOOD! Have to try those.
My family is from Maine. 50 years ago my mom would make whoopie pies for us for our school lunches. They were a regular part of our desert menu. Whoopie pies and hermit cookies were my favorites.
Hope I’m not too late. I’ve been watching the growing interst in whoopie pies, recipe have started to appear over here in England. I first heard them mentioned on the TV show Nurse Jackie.
I think the nearest English equivalent would be a sponge dorp, but I think they are lighter and less substantial.
Love your blog
I’ve always heard them called “Doozies.”
My grandma used to make Whoopie Pies, but she cheated and used cool whip for the creamy center! (They were still good.)
never made them but would love to try!
I love them! Especially the ones you get in the Amish communities.
I’ve heard of them before, but never made them or eaten them. I’m living with three hungry boys this summer and it’d be great to have another book of inspiration! Last night I made a large loaf of chocolate banana bread, and it’s already gone this morning!
former coworker would make these & torture us by only bringing in one each!
Pick me! Pick me! I wanna be making those whoopies!
I haven’t had one, but I’ve read about them. They seem like gloriously soft and squishy things. I’d pick the chocolate peanut butter combo first, too—what could be better?
Never heard of these but they look delicious!
They look wonderful!! Can’t wait to try them for myself!!
I would love to win this for my daughter Brittany, she wants to be a pastry chief and she would love this…
Oh my gosh I love whoopie pies. I have never made them before. I would love too have this book!
Oh goodness I’ve never made them but they look so yummy! Makes me want them right now!
I have never made whoopie pies, but would love to try. I bake alot and can never find a recipe I like for them. Here is to keeping my fingers crossed.
never made them before but would love to try.
Never made them. Never heard of them. And now, desperate to sink my teeth into one!!
I’ve heard of whoopie pies but never made them. They look delicious!
I’ve heard of them, ate them, but never made them. I am excited to finally see a recipe w/out shortening in the filling. Sweet Cakes Cafe in Mesa, AZ makes em, and I like em because it is one less sweet thing I have to make for myself :}
I have heard of them and may have had them before, but never made them! The Midwest is not known for them. They look delicious!!
I’ve never made whoopie pies before but they look really yummy!
I have tried them – they are great! My father-in-law LOVES them! He had them as a child! :)
never, ever
I’ve never heard of them, but I’ll be trying out this recipe! Yummy!!!
I have never make Whoopie Pies! They look delicious! I’ll have to give them a try in lemon, my favorite flavor!
I don’t think I have eaten one since I was 5 or 6. It was something my dad brought home. They look good though and fun to make!
I’ve never made them before! I’m a newly wed who’s gotten into cooking and baking — I think I could get really good at making whoopies with this book! :)
MMMM these look delightful! Can’t wait to try some different cake, cream, and sprinkles :)
Love whoopie pies! Been meaning to make some whoopie pies and Milano cookies. Choc + PB is awesome, but pumpkin and cream cheese takes the cake! I’ve seen this book and really want it!
I’ve never heard of these before. I think I will have to give them a whirl. I would love to win the book and see all the different flavors there are!
I’ve heard of them but have never made or eaten one.
On a blog, probably about a year ago I saw some banana whoopie pies. Now that would be some good whoopie! ha-ha! :)
~ingrid
I have made them before and love them a lot. It’s like having a cake and a cookie at the same time. What better than that?
I have had them made with cookies, but not with the cakey sides…. Can’t wait to make and try them. Thanks!
I would love this book My husand loves whoopie pies but I have not been able to find the filling he used to have as a kid. This book could hold the answer!!!!
Heard of them, had a few, never made them, must make them. Today. :)
I’ve eaten whoppie pies as long as I can remember. My family would vacation in Maine & the bakery in town made HUGE ones – the rest of my family would get pastries or cookies – but I always went for the chocolate whoopie pie – and got to enjoy it twice – they were too big to at in 1 sitting – a sugar coma was sure to follow.
Sadly the bakery closed & I went about 10 years without them. Then one joyous day I discovered an Amish market in the town I was living in that carried whopie pies – they had traditional chocolate, as well as red velvet, pumpkin, chocolate chip, oatmeal & peanut butter filled chocolate.
I tried to make them once using paula deen’s recipe, but it wasn’t the same. My birthday is coming up & this would make the perfect gift… (altho if I don’t win, I’ll have an idea of what to tell folks i want).
I’ve never made whoopie pies before, but I’m definitely excited to try now!
Never made whoopie pies but I’ve heard of them. Down South they have moon pies which look kinda the same but do not taste particularly wonderful….Hope to have a chance at winning the book and making whoopie!!!
I’ve never had a whoopie before. This recipe will be great to try with my kids.
I had never heard of whoopie pies…but they look good!
I’ve heard of Whoopie Pies but never eaten them. I love the name, though. It reminds me of The Newlywed Game show where they always said “Whoopie”!
I’ve never heard of these or seen them before, but they look absolutely delicious! Something fun for me and the kiddies to try out and make together.
I am from Maine- of course I know what Whoopie Pies are! I have made them, but my mom still makes the best ones! Pumpkin ones with cream cheese filling- YUMMY!
I’ve seen them but never had one for some reason. Would love to try making them~
I had never heard of Woopie Pies until I got into blogging and started following various food bloggers. After seeing all the yummy variations, they’re on my list to try out!
Heard of them. I’ve been looking at recipes for a while. I’m dying to try them soon.
Love to make chocolate with peppermint filling!
Having been raised in the Midwest, I know very well what a whoopie pie is. I would love this book and know just which family members I would bake them for. Yum!
I have never had one but have heard they are fantastic. I would love to try the peanut butter filling and would love to win the book too!
I love them! The Amish Market is Annapolis, MD sells them. Everytime I go up there I buy some.
I’ve heard of them before but don’t remember where. I guess they are kind of like the Oreo cakesters? Looks even more delicious though. I would have to try making one.
Heard, eaten and enjoyed!
They are my husbands favorite treat at Corner Bakery here in CA – he likes the classic chocolate with cream cheese filling, but I like the pumpkin ones they have in fall.
I’ve never made them….but the cookbook looks awesome!
wow.. I have never heard of them, but have seen them! The oreo “cakesters” are basically whoopie pies! But I bet homemade would taste much better. =)
yummmm!
I have never made them but I will make these today! I can’t wait for my husband to call so I can tell him I am making whoopie!
I have never heard them called these but yes I have had something similar. They look absolutely delish! Will definately have to try.
These look so delicious and fun to make. Can’t wait to make some for myself!!!!
I’ve never made them but have always been dying to try! They look yummy and fun!
i jus tmad some fri! pumpkin ones. and im dying for this book!
I’ve heard of them but I don’t think I’ve eaten them and I know I’ve never made them. I’m definitely going to have to try because I love cookies sandwiched with icing so these are right up my ally!
I love whoopies! Never made them though, but they are on my list of things to try. This book would make that possible…
I made an oreo cookies look like the whoopie pie, I color the filing with blue, pink, green, and my daughter love it. I hope I will win the book… want to try different recipes..
I love them, I make them for my Grandmommy. She used to eat them in the south.
I have not made woopie pies, not yet at least. I have seen them everywhere and am dying to try them! Such a cute cookbook!
Ive never made them myself but my grandma used to, she always called them gypsy creams. The cookie part had oatmeal in them aswell.
I would love to have this recipe book. I am always looking for something new and fun to make!
natty6420 at hotmail dot com
I’ve never made them but I’d love to make them and learn more about them!! They look like they’d be a hit at any party!!
I’ve never made them but your pictures make me want to try them! Pick me! :)
—Tif
I’ve never tried to make them, but I sure do love eating them! Would love a copy of the book so I can try to create them!
I think I’ve heard of whoopie pies, but I’ve definitely ever had one or made one. I think I might need to!
I have heard of them, but never had one before… they look so good!
I’ve herd of them on martha stewart’s show before but never tried them! I herd the name was created after someone said ‘Whoopie!’ after trying them..fun fact..:)
I live whoopie pies — I have made them once, with triple chocolate cookies and peanut butter filling! Great minds think alike… :-)
I haven’t actually had whoopie pies (yet), but I have definitely heard of them and am super excited to try making them!
I’ve made red velvet ones before, yum! That book looks great : )
These make me think of Moon Pies – albeit a tastier version. Moon pies have chocolate-coated graham crackers for the “cookie”, or at least that’s what it SEEMS like they have.
Anyway, these peanut butter ones sound DELICIOUS!!!!! I’m always trying to find something homemade for my son that he likes as much as something that comes wrapped in cellophane – maybe Whoopie Pies?!
I’ve made whoppie before but not whoppie pies. ;)
They look awesome.
I bought a whoopie pie mix from Crate and Barrel this past holiday season, but I bet whoopie pies from scratch would be even more killer.
I have never heard of them, but looks like fun to make with the kids. mmmmmm. thanks again for great ideas!
I have never eaten a whoopie pie but certainly know what they are! I am for sure going to make these soon!
They do remind me of Oreo Cakesters, as someone mentioned before. My son is a Type1 Diabetic (T1D) and he loves having cakesters for his snack b/c he can have 2 cakesters; so to be able to make 15-24 whoopie pies cheaper than buying cakesters…I’m down with that, better yet he could make them. To be able to win a cookbook devoted to so many variations would be even better.
Whoopie Pies. Well of course I’ve heard of them. Have I eaten them before? No. However, I must confess the name makes me giggle every time I hear it. Hope you’re enjoying your day.
I have only made them once and they were red velvet with cream cheese filling. Yum! :)
Never made them, but they sell delicious ones at this place called corner bakery!!!!
I love whoopie pies! Haven’t made them in years (first got the recipe from a friend from PA). I need to make some for my kids…they would love them!
These look fabulous! I remember eating them as a child but haven’t had any for a loooong time. I will definately try this recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Oh my god, i’ve looked at this book so many times and contemplated buying it! I’ve never had them but they look so cute, and i was thinking of using some of the filling recipes for cake filling, Mmmmm!
I have heard the term “Makin’ Whoopie” but never whoopie pies. They look like the sin to every diet, I can’t wait to try one!
I have heard of them but have never tried making them. They look like a lot of fun!
I made a peanut butter version: peanut butter cookie and peanut butter filling. Then half of each cookie was dipped in chocolate and sprinked with chopped peanuts.
I have heard of these things but have never tried one. I am now intrigued and want to make them for myself ^_^
I have eaten them and they are amazing! I would LOVE to learn how to make them for my friends and family
I have never made them, but will soon!
I LOVE whoopie pies and have been looking for a recipe to make my own. :)
Heard of them, never eaten them, look delicious though ! ;)
om nom nom! these look amazing! I have heard of these recently in a magazine article but have never tried them, however i feel i must now! oh my god the peanut butter morsel rolled ones look so scrummy!
I have heard of them, but never seen them, had them or made them. They look like a lot of fun, and I’d love to get that book for my sister! As much fun as they look to make-I think I’ll talk her into making me some to try!
I have had them and they are super, never made them…
Is it awful to say I’ve never had a whoopie pie?! In my area all I’ve ever encountered are the prepackaged whoopie pies. What’s with their yellowish funky center, no very tentalizing.
However, you’ve sparked my curiocity and I so want to make tons of whoopie!! LOL!
Never tried them from a bakery or anything but I did attempt to make a red velvet one. For a first timer, it wasn’t bad. Now if only I could perfect them and make them pretty without breaking the outer shell. :)
I love Whoopie Pies!! I used to eat them all the time as a child. My grandmother would make them for us. Original for me. Chocolate cake with Chocolate filling for my brother. Now as an adult I can also appreciate a good Pumpkin whoopie pie.
Try them with salted caramel ice cream in the center on a hot summer day. Too die for!!
never made them before, but would love to! they remind me of my favorite summer ice cream treat!
I make a pumpkin one with a creamcheese filling at Thanksgiving. We call them Pilgrim Pies! Delish and easy!!! The book looks wonderful!
I’ve heard of whoopie pies and saw them in the Amish country on a field trip wayyy back, but never got to try them.
