Where I shop…

Cake Art Party Store! I started going here about two years ago when the baking and cake decorating bug bit me. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed. Actually, I’m still overwhelmed. There’s so much stuff I don’t know… don’t even have a clue about… but I feel like I learn something new every single time I visit. Unfortunately, I can’t do that very often because this store makes me spend money.

Cake Art Party Store

Like on these things. I’m serious… this place is dangerous. I think I get a sugar high or something when I walk in … my heart starts racing … I start picking random stuff up. And when I get home, bags full… I’m like, what just happened.

Cake Art Party Store

But, when you see all these… in one place. You start thinking… do I have enough yellow sprinkles. I can’t remember. Okay, get some more and get some blue ones, and red ones while you’re at it.

Cake Art Party Store

And then, you start thinking that you can’t live without blue teddy bear sprinkles or green palm tree sprinkles, or pink pigs. And what if someone has a baby… I need those baby sprinkles or wait, boys like cupcakes… what about helmet and football sprinkles. You see where I’m going. Let’s just say that I have accumulated my fair share of sprinkles.

The funny thing is … I hardly ever use them on cupcakes or cakes. It just makes me feel good knowing I have them just in case. I know … weird! But, they do come in handy when it comes to decorating cake pops, so that’s how I justify it.

Cake Art Party Store

You can even buy them in bags!

Cake Art Party Store

Here’s something I’ve never tried… and I think I’ll leave for the pros… Airbrush! Pretty colors, though.

Cake Art Party Store

Speaking of colors… did you know you can buy rolled fondant that is already tinted?

I started doing this recently with red fondant because it is seriously a pain to tint it yourself and get it a deep red color.

Cake Art Party Store

Now, a lot of people don’t like the taste of fondant, they just like the look of it from a visual perspective. So, if you just want to experiment, then play around and buy it pre-made. Just don’t get this much. You can stick with the 1 pound packages.

Or if you really want, make some from scratch. I hear marshmallow fondant is pretty good.

Cake Art Party Store
Anyone need 25 lbs of buttercream frosting?

Cake Art Party Store

Or tinted buttercream?

Cake Art Party Store

Not me. I like to make my own buttercream and tint it myself. Yummy!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some petit four icing? Just snip the tip and go. Great for beginners.

Cake Art Party Store

Marzipan… I haven’t dabbled in this stuff yet, but I do like saying the name. Marzipan!

Cake Art Party Store

Check this out! This might just be the best part of the store. Pans! Round ones, oval ones, heart-shaped ones, square ones! And in graduated sizes, too! And different heights! Help me, please.

Cake Art Party Store

Tools. I love tools. Offset spatulas and flat spatulas. Thank you.

Cake Art Party Store

Inside these little trays are every decorating tip you can think of and some you can’t. Grab some disposable bags and couplers and you’re set.

Cake Art Party Store

There’s so much stuff in the store that you can miss little things like this. Petal dust and luster dust… I think I’m in love. Now, I just have to figure out what to do with it.

Cake Art Party Store

Need to stack a big cake? Sorry, I can’t help you… haven’t done that.

Cake Art Party Store

Mine are little and usually just end up on cake boards like these.

Cake Art Party Store

And sometimes, they get put in cake boxes. I love cake boxes. Especially the tiny ones.
Little cakes in little boxes are just the cutest!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some party supplies? They have that, too.

Cake Art Party Store

Baking cups for boys and girls.

Cake Art Party Store

Tons and tons of plastic cake toppers. I’ve never bought anything down this aisle…

Cake Art Party Store

But, this one made me laugh so hard, I almost bought it for a Mother’s Day cake. Then, I pictured myself on Cake Wrecks and stopped myself. :)

Cake Art Party Store

Father’s Day is around the corner, though…

Cake Art Party Store

Almost done… hang in there. Cookie cutters are always fun to have.

Cake Art Party Store

And so are these. I have this set of dual sided graduated cutters. I love them and they come in super handy when I make fondant covered cupcakes.

Cake Art Party Store

Gadgets galore! I can’t stand in this section too long because my pantry just isn’t big enough.

And guess what… that’s just the half of it. Actually, the 1/8th of it. I wish I could show you everything.
Coming soon… candy stuff!

Hope you guys liked looking at all that stuff and thanks Cake Art for letting me show everyone that there’s a much bigger cake world than the 9 inch cake pans I used to buy in the grocery store. And guess what guys… most of it’s easier than you think.

  54. What an amazing store! Literally a candy store for grown ups, I wish we had something like that close to where I live. Now normally I’m a cake baker by hobby and lately have been experiencing with cake pops…they are so much fun! My favorite part of baking cakes has been the frosting techniques and with these cake pops I’ve found that my favorite accessories are the sprinkles! 56. Has anyone used the Babycakes cake pop electric appliance? They seem to be all the rage now. I just bought the Babycakes mini cupcake maker — an electric appliance that makes mini cupcakes in about 5 minutes. Much easier than starting up the oven and allows for smaller batch sizes. (So I don’t end up eating two dozen mini cupcakes.)

  87. Is it a bad sign that my hubby just walked up with the mop and bucket saying… “Here your gonna need this by the time your done looking at this site. You already have a puddle of drool on your desk top!” LoL!!! I love this site and you are soooo VERY lucky to have a store like that to shop at. I know I would get into trouble just walking into a store like that. Living overseas at a military base I have to order all my stuff online. That alone gets me into trouble! Hahaha!

I still need lots of practice but I think I’m not bad at all!

I REALLY love ur website! when i read your post i feel like: “oh my godness! i felt the same way!” and that’s just pretty funny!

(My english sucks, so i hope u understand it :s)

  98. My favorite tool for baking is the internet!!! Blogs like this one and recipe finders have been my saving grace. I have a three year old who loves to bake with me and well, I can’t even boil and egg. Thanks to wonderful bakers and their recipes and advice, I’ve pulled off cookies, brownies and cupcakes that make my munchkin say “mommy I so proud you” (mind you she just turned three on Sat. LOL.). One day I will learn to ice cookies so that they don’t look like they have a disease! Have a great day, and thanks. :)

  99. I really wish I had a stor elike this by me :(

  100. I collect things with “lips” have never seen lip sprinkles but this would be great for decorationg cupcakes, etc for valentine’s day, an anniversary.

  102. OMG, i am so glad that they do not have a shop like this in vienna, though it would make finding what we need at home easer.

Deffently try mazipan, tast 100 times better, we use it alot. Mix it 50/50 with icing sugar and you can use it to make figers and things like that. Or cover a cake with it. MMMMMMM

  103. Oh my gosh this is 20 minutes away from me! I must go this week. I love those beer can cake toppers, hilaaaarious.

  104. i wish we had a store like that here!!!! i love collecting different shaped cookie cutters – that store looks like it would have plenty for my fancy!!!

  105. Oh My! I never knew there were so many supplies, for baking! I’m going to try to start a baking career, even though I’m just in high-school.I love baking, but I haven’t gone above&beyond. This place looks great!Gotta find one in New Orleans!

  106. Congratulations! I am a fun of your web site since a friend showed me. I am from Ecuador, South America.
I am taking cupcakes decorating classes, so I hope with this and all your tips I can find a new way of expressing my love form baking and cooking.
One question.. how do I suscribe?? or how i can make some direct doubts with u guys?

  107. Whoaaaaa… I wish I could go there!!

  112. Wow ~ it’s like a lumber store for bakers!!! Amazing!!!

  113. OMG. So Last Saturday was my first time at Cake Art. I got there about 10:35am and my girlfriend Karin was waiting for me. We browsed up and down each aisle examining all the possibilities. I wanted EVERYTHING. When we got to the register we were discussing you and the cashier said ‘Bakerella?, you guys just missed her! She just left about 20 minutes ago!’ We were so upset :(

I wrote about missin you and my first cupcake pops on my blog. Please check it out when you have a moment. Oh, and let us know when you’re going to Cake Art again lol…we’ll meet you there.

  116. Wow wish we had a store like that in UK. Do they mail overseas? I am swooning over all the stuff they sell!!!!!

  117. WOW!!!! I have never seen anything more beautiful! I’m trying to get into more cake decorating, but with a tight budget and no time to bake, its kinda hard. Where is this store? I need to plan a vacation to go where ever it is someday!
    ~Sparky~

  118. Hi Bakerella! I love love love love love your website…LOL!!!
That shop looks amazing i am so jealous :(
Sadly i live in England but i have found a good (not nearly as good as this shop tho!!!) cupcake shop that sells lots of the stuff that we see in FANTASTICAL american cupcake books like Hello Cupcake which i just can’t seem to find in England are sold there. It’s an online shop so you can get their stuff wherever you live in England :) but sadly you can’t go and TOUCH it all and SEE it all like Bakerella can. Anywayyyyy onto the shop its called Cakes Cookies and Crafts Shop if you live in England and are feeling depressed about this shop go and check it out!!!!
    xxx

  119. You are a God send. I was trying to figure out how to get the cake to stay on the lollipop stick… Thanks to you I know. I have a wedding that I’m helping out with next year and your recipe for cake pops is perfect for it. You are so talented… I’m so happy I found this site. This is the Inspiration station. Bakerelle you rock!!!!!!

  121. WOWZA!!!! seriously,i would be stuck in that store for weeks!!!!! =D

  122. I would buy all of that! Good thing I don’t live near there, lol!

Marshmallow fondant (especially when my friend and I make it homemade) is delicious! Better than regular fondant! It’s really simple as well! And easy to color/work with :)

  123. I LOVE YOUR BLOGG!!!!

  128. OMG! I would die to have a store like that here! Instead I must suffer with craft stores which carry little of what i need.

    *sigh*
The joys of living in a rural area.

  129. Wow !!

    Oh my God !!

If you can't find what are you looking for in this store… maybe don't exist.. !!!

Thanks for sharing this info with us !!

    Best Regards,

    Patricia

  130. WOW! WOW!! WOW!!! What a fun & amazing store! I'd LOVE to find something like that in Southern California

  131. I just cannot believe it! This store is about a mile from where I work. Wasn't there a Christian bookstore there at one time? I love your blog.

  132. So many items I would love to have. Thanks for this information!

  133. oh my!! that must be heaven,,hope i'll find a similiar store here :(
i'm blogwalking finding this blog,,and umm maybe u could bake some cake with bolt on the top,,or cookies bolt shaped?? cos i love bolt so much : )

  134. Wow! So sad I missed this! Gorgeous!

  135. Oh goodness this is like a cake decorating mecca.. LOVE IT.
Speaking of the marshmellow fondent, i had to make it this weekend for a friends three teird cake and the taste was good. Now, obviously it wasnt amazing b/c fondent is purely for show factor and prettiness, but i must say it didnt have that “blah” taste to it.

  136. Oh my god! I am so jealous. I wish we had a shop like this in Australia. I just discovered your blog and I love it! Keep up the good work!

  137. Webbyzard – I think so, because i always use cake recipes for cupcakes.

Dianne – thanks for the tips. Can’t wait to try the luster dust.

  138. wow! this is heaven for bakers!!! do they have one in nyc?

  139. Luster dust takes the flourless chocolate cake up a notch (’cause fabulous and decadent, along, is not high enough!). While your cake is baking, you pluck lemon leaves from a local tree, clean them, coat the bottoms of the leaves with melted chocolate, and pop them into the freezer for a few minutes. Then peel the chocolate carefully off the leaves. After you glaze your cake, you position the leaves artistically across the top (I always use them to hide cracks, but maybe your cake doesn’t crack?) and a few around the cake on the platter. Then you take a small clean paint brush and brush about half the leaves with gold luster dust. My uncle calls it edible jewelry. But it makes a cake fit for a coronation (we used it for a 90th bday party for my uncle).

  140. I realize that you already have 3,300 comments, but I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE Cake Art… it’s right down the road from my dentist’s office, so I get to visit it 2x a year. Which really isn’t enough. :)

However, I’ve never been to the sprinkle aisle before. I definitely need to hit that up this summer. Thanks for letting me know about it!! :D

  141. WWWWWoooooowwwwwwwwww…I want to live in that store….wish I lived nearer Georgia!! Thanks for the great photos….Patricia

  142. Looks like a lot of food toys in there! Wow!

  143. OMG!!!! THat store would be like haven to me. I wish there was one in South Florida. BTW- you will love marzipan, it’s delicious and you can mold almost like fondant. I made a carrot cake with marzipan carrots http://webbyzard.wordpress.com/2008/07/26/carrot-cake-with-cream-cheese-icing-and-marzipan-carrots/ . I am from Brasil and down there marzipam is very popular for easter eggs – they also fil lthe big chocolate eggs with bomboms of all kind; it’s so good!!! I need to make a chocolate cake for about 23 people, for my friend baby shower. Do oyu think I can adpt a cupcake recipe, but double it, for a cake? or, it’s not recommended. Maybe you have a nice moist cake recipe but not too moist so I can still cut is half for icing- thanks!

  144. I think pastry bags can make even the novice cake decorator look pretty impressive. That store looks like heaven! I was a decorator for 5 years and am not a huge fan of the airbrush though– colored ingredients just look better.

  145. I absolutely love Cake Art. I have taken a cake decorating class there and it was great. I am there at least once a week. It is Atlanta’s best keep secret.

You are right about being very careful when you are there. I could stimulate the economy with the amount of money I have spent in that place. Prices are great! Service is excellent! I become a shopping fool!

  146. WOW, I didn’t even know stores like this existed. I would go there just to cheer up on a down day! THANK YOU for the amazing photos. I am picking my jaw up off the floor as soon as I type this post. Your blog is spectacular!

  147. It is like a bakers heaven in there!

  148. Oh, MY GOODNESS! My aunt is trying to get me to move to Georgia to live near them…I think you just sealed the deal! :)

  149. I loved this post for so many reasons! The whole reasoning behind why you are buying all of the different kinds of sprinkles was hysterical and I could relate! I live in Conyers, GA and have been looking for a decorating supply store around us for months now! I am SO excited that you did this post-Tucker is only 30 minutes away from us. I can’t wait to go there and explore. Thank you thank you thank you!!

  150. Lisa – that’s def the way to eat toast!

  151. HEAVEN!!!

  152. Wow… I read your blog about fifteen minutes after the winner was chosen… and I really wanted those fun sprinkles. :( Oh well!
Love your post; I wish I lived near a CakeArt Party Store!

I know I’m late- but my favorite cake tool is probably my computer- as in the recipes from hersheys, bakerella, and wilton.com!

    LOVE your blog!!! -Sara

  153. I really love you website! Those chocolate sprinkles (the Belgium ones) are very common here (Netherlands). But we don’t use them to decorate cakes, we put them on a sandwich. When you google ‘boterham hagelslag’ with images, you can see what it looks like. It’s delicious too, of course :).

  154. I want to go to there.

  155. Anonymous – what about amazon. I think they carry everything.

Kiwi – you can use any flavor frosting.

Jen – thanks for the marzipan tip.

Anonymous – Yep, I’ve used vanilla and chocolate frosting. You can use any flavor combo you want to try. I just really like cream cheese frosting.

  156. OMG! They know me by name! I love this p;ace. The owners are so very sweet. I would love to come back with you since we are neae each other. I think you are fantastic. I have tried many of the classes at the store. Wish you were doing some classes! :-)

  157. Oh how I wish I have a Cake Art Party Store near my place. I am in Singapore. The biggest chain of baking supplies store over here, stocks a few items from Wilton, some sprinkles and of course other baking staples but nothing as extensive as Cake Art Party Store.

  158. I love edible glitter

  159. Wow…too bad there’s not a place like this in Los Angeles. I’d certainly be going. The pictures look like the place is tons of fun and extremely inspiring.

  160. You are sooo lucky to be living near such an awesome place! No wonder you’re so inspired. It’s probably a good thing it’s not located here in NY, as I would be totally addicted and would have to change my address- p.s. (you are such a motivation, please continue to share your creativity!)

  161. Hi, Bakerella. I’m wondering why you always use a cream cheese frosting in the cupcake pops. Have you tried making them with butter cream or a chocolate butter cream? Like everyone else, I adore the pops!

  162. Oh thats so fantastic!!! Thank you for posting this!
I think, i would love this store (and leave all my money….)
unfortunately we did not have a store like this in germany :-(

  163. OMG! I’m hyperventilating with want and need and… oooooooooh…. look at all that cake decorating STUFF.

I NEED to go there. I NEED to spend money there… lots and lots of money!!!!!!

I bet I could spend more than the air fare it would cost to get me there in the first place.

I want a shop like that in the UK!!!!

  164. I LOVE YOU for posting this!!! I didn’t realize you were in teh ATL area, I’m new to the area and have been looking all over for some place like this! BLESS YOU!

  165. oh my god, i want to move in and live in that store. thats totally my version of the “locked in the toy store” dream.

  166. I’m dreaming to have a store like this. Unfortunately in France we don’t have this chance!

  167. I know I’m a bit late on the comments here…if you were serious that you didn’t know what to do w/the luster/petal dust, you can use it on the marzipan. Make whatever you want, then decorate! The best marzipan comes from Germany though…Niederegger!

  168. Wow what a amazing store…just a pity I am living in Holland…

My problem is that in Holland I can’t find cream cheese frosting, what else can I use to cream up my cakeballs???

    Does anyone know, you Bakerella??

  169. Don’t care that I was to late for the give away.

Let me spend my summer holly day here! Thank you so much for sharing! Living in the periphery of the world we don’t get to have this kind of goodies…

    EWian

  170. Here’s something I’ve never tried… and I think I’ll leave for the pros…You’re not a pro?! Wow! You should be!

  171. With some many comments and the sheer popularity of your site I wonder if you will see this comment. Regardless, Cake Art store looks fabulous. I would have a hayday there. Since I’m Canadian, I was excited to see that they sell online. I racked up some good and went to checkout but was disappointed to see that they don’t ship to Canada. :( I’ve been searching for an online source that does, and haven’t been very successful. Can you suggest anything? Thank you!

  172. I have NEVER seen a store like this, I am so jealous. I am new to making cakes and love getting ideas from your site. I love my pampered chef batter bowls that i can use to store my batter in. i make my goodies and if i get distracting then i put the lid on it and wait it does not dry out.

  173. Thanks for the visual field trip! Wish I lived close enough to visit it in person! I have one of those large butterfly cookie cutters and have used it mostly for peanut butter sandwiches for birthday parties, but also cut out and decorated individual maraschino cherry sponge cakes with them once.

  174. Oh my God…how can it be possible ??? this is a paradise.
It´s a pitty here in Spain we don´t have much of Wilton products (only in Madrid).
    Kisses

  175. I can’t believe that place! I would have to buy cases of frosting!

  176. I didn’t realize until reading this post you were from Georgia. I guess Metro Atlanta, since the cake store is in Tucker. How fun! Love your blog, and my sister in law turned up with cake pops at Christmas, and boy were they a hit.

  177. Oh no fair – finding sprinkles in Australia seriously sucks – I’d have heart palpatations just going into that store.

Now to find out if they deliver to Oz.

  178. Laura – See. I knew that guy would get me in trouble if I bought him.

    GirlJapan – hey there!
The links in the post take you to their site.

  179. I honestly think I would get such an adrenalin rush that I would faint-seriously

  180. My heart starts to flutter too when I walk into a fabric/sewing/craft store. It’s gotten so bad that I no longer say my hobby is sewing…it’s collecting fabric. ;-)

  181. I really, Really, REALLY want to go there!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I lived next store to you!!

  182. A little late on this post…but Cake Art is addictive! I am there constantly and think, if there was stock, I would invest! :) See you in the Aisles!

  183. Oh my gosh – I am so jealous! We don’t have anything like that here, not that I know of anyway!

  184. http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2009/01/hey-bebeh.html

Check out that post from cake wrecks. :-) It’s the best one one there, in my opinion.

I would like some sprinkles. I have a lot of the norm and I’ve even used some chocolate covered sunflower seeds in Valentines
Day colors but I could always use more!!!

That store looks AWESOME, by the way. I am quite jealous.

  185. i love using LARGE sprinkles to decorate cakes, they can be very edgy and have strong patterns :)
    Joy

  186. It’s a good thing that store isn’t in my town! My family would be broke and my children hungry … although I suppose they could survive on sprinkles.

  187. damn! I missed the deadline. : (

  188. I have a cake decorating kit. (ie. my rubbermaid-full-O-stuff) I got Root Beer extract for flavoring, and I have little gummy root beer bottle candies for toppings on cupcakes. I would go CRAZY in that store! I was scrolling the pictures practically drooling, the decorating is the best part!
    thanks!

  189. HOLY MOLY, now THAT is a great store. how do you not go crazy in there? That is on my list of places to visit next time I am in GA…I might make that trip come sooner than later now that I’ve seen this store. Thanks for sharing…I’m just bummed I missed the giveaway :)

  190. ahmazing my heat was racing just looking at the picture of that cake shop… its sad becuase i want a physical one to go to really see whats what but my city doesnt have one anywhere and i live in a big city we even hosted the superbowl, twice and yet no cake shop i dont understand it

  191. Hi! That looks so lovely. I´m jellious…

I´m 14 years old girl from Finland and I just found this blog. Everything seems amaizing, now you´re my favourite blogger.I have some problems with reading, because I´m studying English only for 4 years, but I´m happy that I got talent on speaking it. :D

    I´m your fan,
    waiting for next posts
    Maija

  192. I love everything!! I am beginner and i am OBSESSED with your blog. Your turing me into a pretty little housewife and my hus-to-bee loves it!!!!!

  193. SOOOO bummed I missed out on this contest! :( I love checking out your blog and just happened to miss this by just ONE measly hour! DANG!
I have already made your cupcake pops, and oreo truffles in just one week!! My husband is gonna kill me with all this baking- he wants cooking! (i hate that tho!)
Thanks for a great blog! :)

  194. Its my first tima at your blog. And oh my god, what a store! These pictures makes me speachless!! :) Here in Norway you can hardly find more then 4 types in a store..

  195. Oh wow, I wish there was a baking shop such as this one in Singapore. I would go simply nuts there and probably spend half day inside. I’ve got so many fav baking stuff and am still stocking more! I guess the best has to be my 43 litre stove top oven – and it’s the best buy ever yet!

  196. After about the 4th picture, I figured out this had to be Cake Art in Tucker. That’s where I shop, too! It’s right up the street from me (I’m in Clarkston). I don’t do much with cakes yet (my mom is the current cake artist), but it is on my list of things to learn to do, and soon! So cool to stumble on a “local.” :-)

  197. I’ve never seen so many comments before in my life!! I just bought a really nice candy thermometer from King Arthur Flour and have already used it three times. And I forbade my husband from using it on the BBQ or to measure soil temperatures in our garden beds!

    speedylu at gmail dot com

  198. There is just so much to find, do they have an online version?
