Where I shop…

Cake Art Party Store! I started going here about two years ago when the baking and cake decorating bug bit me. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed. Actually, I’m still overwhelmed. There’s so much stuff I don’t know… don’t even have a clue about… but I feel like I learn something new every single time I visit. Unfortunately, I can’t do that very often because this store makes me spend money.

Cake Art Party Store

Like on these things. I’m serious… this place is dangerous. I think I get a sugar high or something when I walk in … my heart starts racing … I start picking random stuff up. And when I get home, bags full… I’m like, what just happened.

Cake Art Party Store

But, when you see all these… in one place. You start thinking… do I have enough yellow sprinkles. I can’t remember. Okay, get some more and get some blue ones, and red ones while you’re at it.

Cake Art Party Store

And then, you start thinking that you can’t live without blue teddy bear sprinkles or green palm tree sprinkles, or pink pigs. And what if someone has a baby… I need those baby sprinkles or wait, boys like cupcakes… what about helmet and football sprinkles. You see where I’m going. Let’s just say that I have accumulated my fair share of sprinkles.

The funny thing is … I hardly ever use them on cupcakes or cakes. It just makes me feel good knowing I have them just in case. I know … weird! But, they do come in handy when it comes to decorating cake pops, so that’s how I justify it.

Cake Art Party Store

You can even buy them in bags!

Cake Art Party Store

Here’s something I’ve never tried… and I think I’ll leave for the pros… Airbrush! Pretty colors, though.

Cake Art Party Store

Speaking of colors… did you know you can buy rolled fondant that is already tinted?

I started doing this recently with red fondant because it is seriously a pain to tint it yourself and get it a deep red color.

Cake Art Party Store

Now, a lot of people don’t like the taste of fondant, they just like the look of it from a visual perspective. So, if you just want to experiment, then play around and buy it pre-made. Just don’t get this much. You can stick with the 1 pound packages.

Or if you really want, make some from scratch. I hear marshmallow fondant is pretty good.

Cake Art Party Store
Anyone need 25 lbs of buttercream frosting?

Cake Art Party Store

Or tinted buttercream?

Cake Art Party Store

Not me. I like to make my own buttercream and tint it myself. Yummy!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some petit four icing? Just snip the tip and go. Great for beginners.

Cake Art Party Store

Marzipan… I haven’t dabbled in this stuff yet, but I do like saying the name. Marzipan!

Cake Art Party Store

Check this out! This might just be the best part of the store. Pans! Round ones, oval ones, heart-shaped ones, square ones! And in graduated sizes, too! And different heights! Help me, please.

Cake Art Party Store

Tools. I love tools. Offset spatulas and flat spatulas. Thank you.

Cake Art Party Store

Inside these little trays are every decorating tip you can think of and some you can’t. Grab some disposable bags and couplers and you’re set.

Cake Art Party Store

There’s so much stuff in the store that you can miss little things like this. Petal dust and luster dust… I think I’m in love. Now, I just have to figure out what to do with it.

Cake Art Party Store

Need to stack a big cake? Sorry, I can’t help you… haven’t done that.

Cake Art Party Store

Mine are little and usually just end up on cake boards like these.

Cake Art Party Store

And sometimes, they get put in cake boxes. I love cake boxes. Especially the tiny ones.
Little cakes in little boxes are just the cutest!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some party supplies? They have that, too.

Cake Art Party Store

Baking cups for boys and girls.

Cake Art Party Store

Tons and tons of plastic cake toppers. I’ve never bought anything down this aisle…

Cake Art Party Store

But, this one made me laugh so hard, I almost bought it for a Mother’s Day cake. Then, I pictured myself on Cake Wrecks and stopped myself. :)

Cake Art Party Store

Father’s Day is around the corner, though…

Cake Art Party Store

Almost done… hang in there. Cookie cutters are always fun to have.

Cake Art Party Store

And so are these. I have this set of dual sided graduated cutters. I love them and they come in super handy when I make fondant covered cupcakes.

Cake Art Party Store

Gadgets galore! I can’t stand in this section too long because my pantry just isn’t big enough.

And guess what… that’s just the half of it. Actually, the 1/8th of it. I wish I could show you everything.
Coming soon… candy stuff!

Hope you guys liked looking at all that stuff and thanks Cake Art for letting me show everyone that there’s a much bigger cake world than the 9 inch cake pans I used to buy in the grocery store. And guess what guys… most of it’s easier than you think.

  2. This is a Red Letter Day!!! I am so very excited to see this post…I live in Marietta and for years now I have been without a candy making shop since the one in Marietta closed….I never knew about this shop…all the times I Googled and I never saw it…I would drive all the way up to Buford to a crappy little store but it was better then nothing….So THANK YOU!!!!!!

  3. I could spend a week in there! Why don’t we have stores like that where I live? Boo hooooooooo…

  4. favorite/what i want more of is a mini batter scoop for regular sized cupcakes !

    dylanmargaret@gmail.com

  5. I just wanted to comment anyways….even though the contest expired Because YOU’VE NEVER USED MARZIPAN!!!!!!! That’s the best yummiest stuff in the whole wide world. I don’t comment here often and I don’t even know if you read your comments or not but I tell you it’s the BOMB! you’ll love it. Not only that you can chocolate dip it and eat that yummy goodness too. I promise once you start you won’t go back!
I wish I had that big of a supply store here. WOW! Amazing.

  6. oh wow!! They need to open one of those in Colorado. I have nowhere to get supplies and end up ordering off the internet all the time.

  7. I love premade icing roses! they make any cake look gorgeous!mjf926 at hotmail dot com

  8. Where is this store? Oh My God- every town should have one close by!

  9. Oh my! *So jealous* No access to such great stores here :( I have to get my CK stuff online.

  10. Oh! I want! I want!
But then i will have to order from the internet. so far as i know we dont have a store like that in Sweden :(

  11. I would very seriously consider moving from New York all the way to Georgia just so I could be near that store.

I think I just drooled all over my husbands computer.

Anyone know of a store like that in the Syracuse, NY area??

  12. I am just writing to tell you that I have the same store HERE in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Country Kitchen Sweetart! I have never in my life heard someone explain how they feel when they walk in to the store, like I feel when I do myself. I get soooo excited I can hardly stand it. I love the clearance corner with seasonal discontinued items. However I have to agree with you that the pans are the BEST! If you don’t know already I would love to suggest to you what I get the MOST comments on. You think you have a hard time deciding on sprinkles? Check this stuff out. It’s called disco dust. It comes in EVERY COLOR OF THE RAINBOW! It costs $4.00 for the tiniest pot of it. But there is nothing prettier than the white disco dust on plain white buttercream. Absolutely the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! Let me know how you like it!
Btw…thank you for the GREAT posts. Love reading them, and your photos are fantastic!

  13. I almost swooned looking at those pictures! I’m jealous I think.

My current favorite baking/decorating tool are my Wilton featherweight decorating bags. I’m by no means a great decorator, but these make icing cakes and cupcakes so easy and they clean up in a snap!

  14. Hi there! I nominated you for an award on my blog! :)

    http://lolly-tots.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-first-blog-award.html

if you want you can pass it along to some of your favorite blogs as well :)

  15. Wow! My choices for cake stuff are Michael$$$ or the Bulk Barn. Not exactly a lot of choice. My friends and always wondered where you got all your supplies… and now I know! I’m so jealous!

  16. Hey! Am from Singapore and i stumbled upon your site. I am so in love with all your bakings and yes, i envy the store you went to with all those assorted sprinklers found. Unlike here in Singapore, such sprinklers or even some of the cookies tools are limited.

And yes, you inspired me to bake!

  17. OMG I wish we had a store like this where I live. I just died and went to heaven with this post. Too bad I missed the giveaway.

  18. You are evil! The shops here have at most three kinds of pans and two types of chocolate sprinkles and you go ahead and post this ^_^
If I dream of cookies and colored fondant tonight I’ll blame it on you :)

  19. WOW!

  20. Hi Bakerella!
I made cake pops over the weekend and wanted to thank you for all the wonderful ideas you always share with us

    http://bakingatmidnight.blogspot.com/2009/05/birthday-cake-pops.html

    Have a great day!!!!

  21. Wow! That must have been such a fun contest! I missed it, but I’ve found your site. And the sprinkles make me really happy anyway. :)

  22. This store puts my local spot on 23rd St. in Manhattan to absolute and utter shame. Shame I tell you!

  23. Cake Art rocks! Every time I go, I have to start at one end and walk all the aisles even if I just go for cake boxes. It’s the best!

My favorite tool would have to be my offset spatula. I use the small one because I feel like I have better control. I even use it to frost big cakes.

  24. Oh man…..see what I get for not checking this weekend. I missed out on a sprinkles. That store looks like so much fun and so much trouble.

  25. I’m a big fan of sprinkles. And luster dust.

  26. OMG….I am in Cake heaven!!! Love it!!

  27. I LOVE cupcake wrappers!

  28. I know the contest is over but i just have to say I’m so bummed
i never knew that place was there. i used to live in Tucker!!!

  29. I know I’m too late for the contest, but OMG that store is AMAZING. Beats the pants off Michaels and AC Moore. Probably a good thing it’s far away from me. I would have to build an addition on my house if I bought any more sprinkles.

  30. Insane! I got all hyper just looking st the pics! As for favorite baking tool…(aside from my hands) I’d say it is the silicone spatula. It has changed my world!
    :) Kim
    ulmer.kim@gmail.com

  31. Hey All! Time’s up. The winner is Comment #936. Congrats Cam!

Now I have to get back to reading all about your favorite tools. I’m fascinated.

    Thanks for playing!

  32. i love using my rubber spatula! it’s so much fun seeing all the dough and mixtures getting swept in one fluid motion! i remember when you posted about brown cupcake cases being fairly hard to find, i was slightly smug (sorry) at having found 100 for less than a pound at our local supermarket. but wow, seriously, that cake art shop is amazing!! i’ve never seen a cake decorating shop bigger than a tiny room before! i wish we had stuff like that in uk! c:

  33. I’m attempting to stack and carvy my own giant cupcake cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday soon – sprinkles would be nice!

  34. wiat.. is it too late? 6pm eastern?

OMG.. I about cried tears of happiness looking at those pictures!

my NEWEST favorite tool is actually a hole-punch, cause I’ve been experimenting with making my own shaped sprinkles.

but outside of that… gotta be my tips. I pipe cookies like a crazy woman… I love my decorating tips.

  35. I like my spatula!

  36. i wish i had a store near me like that! my fa baking tool is the spatula!

  37. My favorite decorating item is definitely my oreo cookies. I always crush them in the food processor and mix it with the frosting…it not only makes cupcakes/cakes look pretty…but it tastes super delicious too!

    http://sunshinekong.blogspot.com

    ahnxyoung@yahoo.com

  38. Fabulous store…wow!!! I would never come out! I have to say that my favorite baking tool is a super old hand-me-down tips kit with reuseable bag. I’ve bought a newer kit but I always venture back to my old…20 some year old set!

    VL from bvlm@rogers.com

  39. OMG! Sprinkle me in AWE! Pick a favorite? I’m in Sprinkle Nirvana! I like this one and that one, oh yea…that one too…and the one beside it, and oh, don’t forget the one on top of it and the pink one and the pretty one and…oh stop me! Just give me them all! ;-)

  40. That place is incredible! I love my collection of icing tips. Anything is possible with them :)

  41. i am late posting as i was at work but i love everything there is to love about baking from the little paper cups to the mini cheesecake pans i use all the time… baking is my solace and refuge and i read your blog al the time and would love to know where a store like that in my area is..

  42. I’m so not ever allowed in that store. I would bankrupt myself. As far as tools go, I love a good rotating cake stand. And spatulas in 3 sizes. I miss some of the stores in the US for the cute crafty stuff. The town I’m living in in Australia doesn’t have the selection and the goods are expensive.

  43. I loved reading your comments! We may be baking soulmates; I often buy pretty cooking things just because I like to have them. Need schmeed… ;-) My husband coaches football and now my son plays, so I would definitely love to have some football helmet and f’ball sprinkles.

    lgodziuk@mcsnet.ca

  44. I am completely out of sprinkles. I host a Gingerbread house making day in December every year. I also do a cookie swap and have a project for everyone to do. This year used up my sprinkles and I need more! I’d love a new sprinkle collection for all the fun things you make me want to do!

  45. LOVE THAT STORE!!! My fav tool is my icing spatula thing-ey (yeah, I’m a newbie! LOL!)

    tnwoodworking@hughes.net

  46. wouldn’t it be fun if there were sprinkles shaped like little shirts and pants? those would be darling.

  47. I love sprinkles the best, too! And I am so jealous you live near such an awesome store.

    missmarabelle@yahoo.com

  48. I think one of the coolest baking items I have is an antique bundt cake pan that my Grandpa gave me. The shape of the pan is square, with a round center hole. It makes a really retro-slash-futuristic-looking cake that I think is awesome.

  49. Oooh, OOHH! ME!

  50. I sure hope I made the time limit on this one being on the West Coast… I use tons of green shamrock sprinkles because my son attends Clover Ave. Elementary.

I love my cookie scoops from King Arthur Flour- I have a tiny one and a larger one, not a giant one though.

  51. I think it’s past the time but I had to comment. I’m drooling looking at all of those sprinkles! I wish I could find a place like that by me!

  52. I really have just starting baking so I don’t have anything special except for the sprinkles at the grocery store. I love everything. I wish we had a store like that in my town.

  53. Love, Love, Love my KitchenAid Stand Mixer and Cuisinart Food Processor. My favorite tool(s) however, are my handy, dandy, assortment of pastry tips. They are magical and make me feel like the fairy godmother of all things bakery.
I get a kick out of seeing the pleasant smile one gets whenever they receive one of my treats. They don’t know whether to save it for a special occasion or devour it right before my eyes! LOL
Wish I can go there too, but I’m all the way across the country.
    Tootles!

  54. I want a store like that…i’m so jealous

  55. I would love some cowboy/western sprinkles!

  56. OMGoodness, all those sprinkles *swoon* Oh how I love sprinkles, I have egg shaped ones for Easter :) My favorite baking tool is a melon baller. You know, the scoopie thing you use to make all your cookies the same size?! I am sure it has an official title, but at my house it is the melon baller.

  57. WOW! I love all those sprinkles! Since I love to decorate with them, they would be my favorite thing to bake with!

  58. wow I want that store by me where is it?

  59. Wow -I was getting excited just looking at the pictures – Don’t have anything like that here in Tulsa, but would take a day or 2 to shop there…. Might be easier to just tell them send me One of EVERYTHINGQ!

  60. I love my Wilton star tip – I use it on just about every cupcake that I make! It’s great for making small stars, flowers, or even scales on an alligator :)

  61. Gosh, I almost had a heart attack with this post! I can’t believe so much lovliness exists in one place. Thank you for bringing this wonderful store and website to our attention. Different and unique sprinkles are my weakness and off-set spatula’s are my favorite and yet most essential baking tool. I can’t do do decent icing without it.
    Aloha!

  62. I wish there was a store like that around where I live! Maybe there is… I see a Google search in my future :) I cannot live without my small off-set spatula.
    And yay! for sprinkles!

  63. I would love some horsey themed sprinkles, perfect for barn parties. My favorite baking tool is by far the offset spatula, i have three, small, medium and large and can’t imagine frosting anything without them.

  64. Food coloring! If you have that, you can make everything easier… and more colorful! kijinchan@yahoo.com

  65. Definitely my covered glass batter bowl and an assortment of wooden spoons and spatulas.

  66. i LOVE fun shaped sprinkles. stars and hearts and teddy bears just make me happy. :)

    kdurden@gmail.com

  67. One of my favorite baking tools is my spoonula. Great to scrape and scoop batter from my mixing bowl. What a fun store! I could spend hours upon hours there. :-D

    cathielojkovic@yahoo.com

  68. Oh man – I am so jealous of that store – I wish we had something like that here :(

I think my favourite baking tool would have to be my KitchenAid – I love her :)

  69. i forgot to put my email :( mei_elshamy@hotmail.com

  70. That cake store looks about 100 times bigger than my local cake store :( (however mine is all pretty and frilly & pink!) I couldn't live without powdered food colouring..I hate faffing about with the liquid kind

  71. I wish I had such a cake store near me. It’s amazing. I must confess I have an extreme love for packaging like boxes etc. Something about a cake or cupcake in a cute container is just joy :D

  72. Oh. My. Goodness! I’m supposed to be able to make a sane comment after those pictures left me so speechless? I like all the usuals, but I’m also pretty non-standard and use things like blow driers, dehumidifiers and food dehydrators. Whatever works!

  73. i wish i could name my fave tool but i really don’t have one – i have a mom that makes fantastic things though – so i guess she’s my fave. i do have a thing for sprinkles, sadly i don’t make anything fab with them – i put them on my vanilla ice cream!

  74. My favorite would have to be a cookie scoop… makes it a lot easier to have perfectly proportional and round cookies! :)

  75. My favorite baking item has to be colored sanding sugars!! They are so beautiful and make everything sparkle…I love sparkle :) We have a store like that ’round these parts…called Country Kitchen. They are online, too, so you might have heard of them? It reminds me a lot of the store you took pictures of and I feel the same way when I go there!

  76. What a cool store. I’d have to take a huge time slot to let my self wander about in that store. I love it.
My favortie baking tool would have to be cookie cutters. Such fun shapes out there, and my little ones like to help out.

    almostjello.blogspot.com

  77. I need to find a store like this. Would be completely over stimulated! TOOLS? I like my silpat, and also my mini tin. I love one-bite muffins/brownies!

    kellmck8@msn.com

  78. That is food porn! OMG! I’ve never seen anything like that.

  79. I love my Wilton comfort grip cookie cutters!! The large size makes them great for rice krispie treats as well! I’d love some boyish sprinkles!

    http://www.alwayswantingmoore.blogspot.com

  80. Ooo, sprinkles! For my baby brothers 2nd b-day I wanted some yellow ducky sprinkles for cupcakes.

My fav baking tool? I really love batter scoops. Their perfect for making cookies, cupcakes, and muffins.

    That store looks AWESOME!

    forhisglorytooATcomcastDOTnet

  81. I never knew all these goodies existed…I must learn to bake now!

My daughter would KILL for sprinkles mixed with black, pink and white…her dance team colors.

  82. Wow I wish there was a shop like that near me – it looks amazing!! Probably better for my bank balance that there isn't though as I could easily spend a fortune LOL.

I'm quite new to baking so don't have much in the way of equipment yet but I'm going to go & buy some sprinkles after reading this – I need to make a really bright & pretty cake now!

  83. What a store!! I would love to visit it someday, only my husband’s wallet would probably feel like it was taken advantage of. ha

  84. My favorite decorating item would have to be plain old tips. You can just about do anything with them.

  85. I love using different frosting tips or even cute cupcake foil to keep things cute and decorated!

  86. I think I may too late for the contest but that place looks amazing.
I love using fondant. I made a batch of the marshmallow fondant and have made numerous things with it.
I want to go to cake art!

  87. I love my Adjust-a-cup! Srsly the best tool for a small batcher like me!

  88. I love that store!! Like you, I would go crazy in there!
My favorite tool is my OXO measuring cup where you can see the measurement by looking into the cup as well as the side.
As for sprinkles, I love them all!
    cookienurse@gmail.com

  89. Oh, man – am I eligible, all the way in England?
Anyway, my favourite baking tool is the humble cookie cutter – only my brother keeps pinching mine to make egg muffins.
    silverphyrbyrd@yahoo.co.uk

  90. Marzipan is wonderful! In the UK, our traditional wedding cakes and Christmas cakes are … dare I mention the name … fruit cakes. Delicious!! After they sit around for a few weeks, being “fed” brandy, a layer of marzipan goes on top, then Royal icing (dries very hard) or fondant goes next, with flowers etc. on top of that.
    Hmm. It’s making me homesick.

  91. OMG That store is the bomb…we don’t have anything like that here ~~ luckily!! I can’t live without my off-set spatu-ler….love it!!
    Caonni
    cambelkids@aol.com

  92. My spatula for frosting cakes.

  93. Whoa thats alot of sprinkles :D. I like all kinda sprinkles! Love colorful ones :D. I wish they made care bear ones. *Crosses fingers*

  94. I love that store, wish there was one close to me. *sigh* My life was changed when I discovered offset spatulas, so I guess this is my favorite. : )

  95. Oops, forgot my email: anndeehi@gmail.com

  96. I have hunted all over the valley where I live looking for the large white sprinkles to make the cute little lamb cake pops you posted. I NEED to visit this store of yours!

  97. I love my cookie scoop.
    kalugin4@sbcglobal.net

  101. My offset spatula!

  102. I love sprinkles– all sprinkles. I do not discriminate. To me, sprinkles=happiness!

  103. Never ever ever let me enter this shop, created by the devil, I’d either never come out of it or come out in debt :O

  104. I think my favorite tool is definitely my long handled spatula to frost a cake all the way around without messing it up!

  105. Wow! So glad I am not close to that store or I would go broke! My favorite baking tool is my offset spatula. So many uses, so little time:)
    Courtney

  106. wow – I would be like a kid in a candy store… but I guess that’s the point, right?

  107. I couldn’t live without my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It makes everything easier.

  108. I love piping bags and cool tips for decorating…unfortunately most of my baking stuff got lost in the move! :( :( :(

    crazykittendance AT gmail DOT com

  109. I have been looking for a store like that up here in New Jersey, but sadly theres nothing. I have been looking for Pastel Nonpareils, I finally found a small jar of them at a craft store and I made cupcake pops over this weekend and they look so cute! But now that I want them to be a staple in my sprinkle/ cupcake pop supply cabinet…they don’t have them anymore! Aparently they were for “EASTER”. Well HELLO some people like pastel’s all year round not just around Easter! HEHE! =) anyway Bakerella.. LOVE YOU!!!!!!

    ohhellocupcake@gmail.com

  110. that store looks so fun! btw i love your blog, it’s inspired me to bake, and your stuff is so good! my husband gets excited when he sees me reading your blog cuz he knows he’s gonna get some good stuff pretty soon!

    Sarah, handygirl698@yahoo.com

  111. That store is positively amazing! I am a huge sprinkle lover but can never find any interesting ones around my town.

As for baking, I can’t live without my mini scoop or my mixer. Godsends!

    Love your blog!

  112. I could see how that store could be so addicting….I only have a Michaels to run to and it never does itself justice. In dire need of SPRINKLES to play with :)

  113. I would absolutely love to spend a day in this store with an open ended credit card! It is nice to dream…:)

  114. Love the flower sprinkles! Wish I could get stuff like that around here!

  115. OMIGOSH! I would love to walk through that store. I love looking at all the different gadgets. Such fun!

  116. I’m too late for the giveaway, but my favorite baking tool is (don’t laugh) a set of little bowls to hold ingredients in. I have a set in pink and another in a hot yellow. And I have cake pans that are 3 inches deep! This post lured me out of lurking: I LOVE gadgets and sprinkles and all kinds of doohickeys!!!!

  117. It’s 4pm here so I hope I get in before the deadline, you didn’t specify time zone ;)

I must say thank you for sending me to that site, my wallet on the other hand does not, my favorite baking item has to be the mini pans, they are just so cute and come in so many shapes. Also very handy!

  118. I absolutely could not live without my cookie cutters. I use them for everything. I wonder how cake pops flattened, then cut out with large cookie cutters would be? Of course dunked in candy coating afterwards. I want to try!

    Tanya
    fanfare23@yahoo.com

  119. I’m not sure if I made the deadline.

My favorite equipment is my bocsh mixer and sprinkles always make me smile.

    luckyslady113 at gmail.com

  120. I love your cupcake balls…too cute!

I just bought some edible flowers when I was back in Malaysia – I’ve never seen similar ones here – for my next set of cupcakes…right now, those are my favorite things in my baking cupboard!

  121. I come from Finland and I wish we had that store here!!! I might need to move to USA. ;)
Love sprinkles, I just don’t have enough them. I like to use them on cakes and cupcakes too. My favourite baking tool is my bunny shaped cookie cutter. I love bunnies. :)

  122. That store looks like a wonderland of sorts….akardal@gmail.com

  123. I love my stoneware baking pans! They’re the bomb!
