Where I shop…

Cake Art Party Store! I started going here about two years ago when the baking and cake decorating bug bit me. When I first walked in, I was overwhelmed. Actually, I’m still overwhelmed. There’s so much stuff I don’t know… don’t even have a clue about… but I feel like I learn something new every single time I visit. Unfortunately, I can’t do that very often because this store makes me spend money.

Cake Art Party Store

Like on these things. I’m serious… this place is dangerous. I think I get a sugar high or something when I walk in … my heart starts racing … I start picking random stuff up. And when I get home, bags full… I’m like, what just happened.

Cake Art Party Store

But, when you see all these… in one place. You start thinking… do I have enough yellow sprinkles. I can’t remember. Okay, get some more and get some blue ones, and red ones while you’re at it.

Cake Art Party Store

And then, you start thinking that you can’t live without blue teddy bear sprinkles or green palm tree sprinkles, or pink pigs. And what if someone has a baby… I need those baby sprinkles or wait, boys like cupcakes… what about helmet and football sprinkles. You see where I’m going. Let’s just say that I have accumulated my fair share of sprinkles.

The funny thing is … I hardly ever use them on cupcakes or cakes. It just makes me feel good knowing I have them just in case. I know … weird! But, they do come in handy when it comes to decorating cake pops, so that’s how I justify it.

Cake Art Party Store

You can even buy them in bags!

Cake Art Party Store

Here’s something I’ve never tried… and I think I’ll leave for the pros… Airbrush! Pretty colors, though.

Cake Art Party Store

Speaking of colors… did you know you can buy rolled fondant that is already tinted?

I started doing this recently with red fondant because it is seriously a pain to tint it yourself and get it a deep red color.

Cake Art Party Store

Now, a lot of people don’t like the taste of fondant, they just like the look of it from a visual perspective. So, if you just want to experiment, then play around and buy it pre-made. Just don’t get this much. You can stick with the 1 pound packages.

Or if you really want, make some from scratch. I hear marshmallow fondant is pretty good.

Cake Art Party Store
Anyone need 25 lbs of buttercream frosting?

Cake Art Party Store

Or tinted buttercream?

Cake Art Party Store

Not me. I like to make my own buttercream and tint it myself. Yummy!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some petit four icing? Just snip the tip and go. Great for beginners.

Cake Art Party Store

Marzipan… I haven’t dabbled in this stuff yet, but I do like saying the name. Marzipan!

Cake Art Party Store

Check this out! This might just be the best part of the store. Pans! Round ones, oval ones, heart-shaped ones, square ones! And in graduated sizes, too! And different heights! Help me, please.

Cake Art Party Store

Tools. I love tools. Offset spatulas and flat spatulas. Thank you.

Cake Art Party Store

Inside these little trays are every decorating tip you can think of and some you can’t. Grab some disposable bags and couplers and you’re set.

Cake Art Party Store

There’s so much stuff in the store that you can miss little things like this. Petal dust and luster dust… I think I’m in love. Now, I just have to figure out what to do with it.

Cake Art Party Store

Need to stack a big cake? Sorry, I can’t help you… haven’t done that.

Cake Art Party Store

Mine are little and usually just end up on cake boards like these.

Cake Art Party Store

And sometimes, they get put in cake boxes. I love cake boxes. Especially the tiny ones.
Little cakes in little boxes are just the cutest!

Cake Art Party Store

Need some party supplies? They have that, too.

Cake Art Party Store

Baking cups for boys and girls.

Cake Art Party Store

Tons and tons of plastic cake toppers. I’ve never bought anything down this aisle…

Cake Art Party Store

But, this one made me laugh so hard, I almost bought it for a Mother’s Day cake. Then, I pictured myself on Cake Wrecks and stopped myself. :)

Cake Art Party Store

Father’s Day is around the corner, though…

Cake Art Party Store

Almost done… hang in there. Cookie cutters are always fun to have.

Cake Art Party Store

And so are these. I have this set of dual sided graduated cutters. I love them and they come in super handy when I make fondant covered cupcakes.

Cake Art Party Store

Gadgets galore! I can’t stand in this section too long because my pantry just isn’t big enough.

And guess what… that’s just the half of it. Actually, the 1/8th of it. I wish I could show you everything.
Coming soon… candy stuff!

Hope you guys liked looking at all that stuff and thanks Cake Art for letting me show everyone that there’s a much bigger cake world than the 9 inch cake pans I used to buy in the grocery store. And guess what guys… most of it’s easier than you think.

I also don’t think I could live without my cake leveler!

I sure wish Pittsburgh was closer to that store……

  8. I actually just recently got a shaker for my powdered sugar and what a difference it makes! I can powder things like a pro now.

That store looks like fun, good thing it is a long way from where I live Ü

  9. I need the palm tree sprinkles for my daughters luau bday party!!! Too Cute!

  10. Hi there! I am a huge fan of magi-cake strips – they wrap around the cake pan while baking and prevent the middle from baking higher than the sides. You can get them at Michael’s. lisa_lasso@earthlink.net

  11. I love those little silver ball sprinkles. And I love your blog. It’s awesome.
    Thanks,
    Starrynight85@gmail.com

  12. I love sprinkles. I use to stalk Target after holiday clearance just to collect sprinkles. With 5 kids sprinkles are wonderful on anything to them. I am so tempted to try them on broccoli to get my son to eat it. My husband has forbidden me from buying more sprinkles but what can he say if I win them?

  13. I love Baklene! It’s the best cooking spray ever, works like a champ. Nothing I bake ever sticks to the pan!

    katie.frye@tracylocke.com

  14. Love the luster dust. It’s probably a good thing I don’t have a store like that close to me…..

  15. I love sprinkles! My favorite tool is my shiny new cupcake pan!
    kaitironside at gmail dot com

  16. I love sprinkles, because you don’t have to be talented to make them look good!

    Love that store.

    duffincl3@yahoo.com

  17. I love the little silver “dragees” but they aren’t cheap! 20 kinds of sprinkles would be oh so fun!

  18. My favorite baking (cupcake) accessory is fun baking cups! Shamrocks for St. Patty’s, hearts for Valentine’s…you name it, I have them! Now what I really need is pretty sprinkles to match!

  19. I have a feeling business will be booming!!! You must try M a r z i p a n… the name isn’t the only cool thing about it; it’s so much fun to work with, you’ll love it!!

We could make beautiful desserts together! “Sorry, that was NOT a proposal… I just can’t help but feel ‘gooey’ reading your blogs!” LOL!

  20. Oops! I forgot my email and had to delete my post.

    godblessamerica.jan@gmail.com

  21. I love my spatula. It’s great at getting out extra batter, smoothing out frosting, there is no job it can’t handle.

  22. That store looks awesome. I wish we had one where I live!
I always loved those little shiny silver…um…non pareils, I think they’re called? I just called them shiny silver balls when I was a kid…

  25. I never knew such stores existed. I’m in heaven. If only such a place existed where I live…

My baking world was rocked when I discovered parchment paper. It’s helped tremendously in decreasing the number of burnt cookies and hard-to-remove cakes that I have to deal with.

  26. I guess I’ll go with the spatula, because you leave less of the delicious batter in the bowl! afswap@yahoo.com

  27. Wow, I didn’t even know that such a wonderful place existed! I wonder if there is one near me….
I think my favorite baking tool is parchment paper. You can bake on it, roll things out smoothly between two sheets of it, and even make a disposable piping bag with it.
Anyway, sprinkles are tiny miracle workers! I can get my kids to eat anything if I put sprinkles on it.
    moviegirl19@hotmail.com

  28. My favorite baking tool is a recipe.

  44. I *need* all those sprinkles for graduation party this week…luckily I’m going to the store TODAY!!!!

I love my small cookie scoop – I use it for everything!

  45. My favorite sprinkles are my little green Christmas trees.

How long will it take me to color it? OH NO!! My favorite thing to bake with is chocolate! I love pretty things, I hope I win!!

    ellis102278@yahoo.com

  54. I would seriously go bankrupt in that store. I love my mini cheesecake pan to make cute little cakes.

  55. Wowsers. I need to find a store like that in my neck of the woods. But then I would want to bring a sleeping bag and live there. Seriously, I don’t think I could spend less than 8 hours in that place and completely ruin my bank account. HEAVENLY!!!

My favorite baking tool is my mini cupcake pan. It’s how I try out dozens of new recipes for taste-testing (I usually give my friends and family 3 minis with 3 frostings in shot glasses and have them mix and match to tell me which combinations they like best).

I’d love to win the sprinkles- fingers crossed! Thanks Bakerella!

  56. EU AMO AS “BALAS” COLORIDAS (candie?) para Pop Queque, aqui no Brasil não acho NADA. Me dá uma depressão. :(((((((
    snif… snif…

And I know I could use more. I love sprinkles, I buy a bunch at every clearance sale after a holiday. You cannot have enough sprinkles. shanasewing@yahoo.com

  62. Wow~ I wish I could find a place like that in Northern Cali.

  63. There is nothing like that store anywhere near me. I think I may have to take a trip over there so very soon. I love my edible glitter as it adds a nice sparkle to all the cakes. Ed

  81. Oh my gosh. I must have sprinkles! I love sprinkles and they’re cuteness and can I just put that whole store in my backyard please?

  82. I’d surely be in $$ trouble in there! I love having huge choices and selections! I’m constantly using my large basketweave tip on the sides of my cakes so I don’t have to get the edges smooth! Then, just top with tons of flowers! One of my favorites for cake and cupcakes are silicone molds, like to make quick petunias. Very impressive, and fun to coat with luster dust!
    sweetiesbykim@aol.com

  83. Favorite decorating item is my trusty rusty (not really) #3 Wilton tip. I think I have five of them, it’s my go-to tip for piping. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!

And i just tried makning cake pops this weekend, not a total loss but i made then WaY to big, and they didnt want to stay on the stick!

    henneymj@aol.com

  88. You sound like me! I started doing that with scrapbook supplies – buying everything because it was so cool and so I’d have it on hand. Until I realized that I was more of a scrapbook supply collector than a scrapbooker. Now I’m stuck with a room that looks like Michaels! Now I’ve moved onto cakes (and cake balls!) and I’ve gone a little buck wild at cake supply stores! There must be some kind of recovery support group for addicts like us, right?

  89. My favorite baking tool is my small offset spatula. Great for frosting cupcakes.
    bowretrv AT execpc DOT com

  90. What an amazing store!

    Jenny from
    http://tormentedkitchen.blogspot.com/

  96. Hmmm, I love to look at sprinkles too. I want/need some frog shaped ones. ;-)

We have nothing like this around here. I bet they even have silver/gold food paints. I really could have used those for past cakes.

  97. OMG, I would go sooo nuts in that store! I wish we had one like that around here – I may have to do some Googling today!

My favorite baking tool right now is probably my stand mixer – makes it so much easier and faster to whip something up and pop it in the oven.

I also love my Wilton decorating kit, I have TONS of tips, couplers, and all kinds of color paste, etc. LOVE IT ALL! :)

    Thanks for an awesome giveaway!

PS) My hubby came in when I was oohing and aahing over all those pictures….he’s glad we live NO where close to that store. “We’d be living in a cardboard box outside that store if we lived close.” My response was, “But I’d have all those pretty sprinkles and some really awesome tools.” LOL

  103. Sprinkles…I am addicted! I love anything glittery but they are hard to find!

  104. OMG, I would have to spend a few days there! I am looking for guitar-type sprinkles. I’m having a ‘Guitar Hero’ themed b-day party for my son, so if I could find some rock and roll sprinkles or guitar sprinkles, that would, well, ROCK!

    Great site!

  105. I have tried you cupcake pops once and need to ame more more more so sprinkles will get me there!!!
    sboulmetis@hotmail.com

  106. OMWord ! I’ve never seen that big of a cake store! I’d go crazy too and I don’t really decorate cakes! Now and then. But I do decorate lots of cupcakes and love to put sprinkles on them just to make them more festive! Seems everything tastes and looks better with a few sprinkles! My kids love to give cupcakes to friends, school functions etc. I just made ice cream cone cupcakes for my dd 13th birthday, took them to her ball game to hand out!

And, I’m almost out of sprinkles..only have some Autumn leaves left ! wooo hooo..thanks for the chance!

  107. This post makes me want to move to Georgia! I love disposable parchment bags for piping. Couldn’t live without them!
    coastalcakery.com

  108. Hmm, my favorite baking tool has to be my cake leveler!

I could DEFINITELY use some sprinkles. I am like you and feel that I need every kind.

    email: peacelovesugarsweets@gmail.com

  109. I have spent my morning calculating how many hours it would take me to drive to this store from Houston. So glad to know I am not the only one who loves this kind of stuff. Perhaps I am not a freak afterall! Favorite tool, believe it or not- is a medication syringe from the pharmacy. Use to draw up liquid meds- it’s also great to pipe frosting on- makes neat outlines, eyeballs, etc. Your site has inspired me so much!! I am a visual learner so your pictures work wonders for me! shariwaldrn@hotmail.com

  110. I am hosting a bake sale for The Great American Bake Sale this summer and so have just really started becoming obsessed with all things baking–including this blog! So many fun sprinkles would totally help my cause!
I am just starting to accumulate baking tools…but the Kitchenaid mixer has been a HUGE upgrade from my sad hand mixer I was using…

    swidhalm@yahoo.com

  111. I think I may have caught your ‘bug’. It happens every time I am around a ‘supply’ store. I love any of the ‘finishing’ products for baking. Cheap plastic toys, sprinkles, chunky sugar, packaging. You name it, I need it! ;)

  112. I like the cake icer tip! What a great store. I’m jealous.
    calicopurr@msn.com

  113. Sprinkles are my favorite subject! Last night I was cutting out coupons for my parents, and I found a coupon for ‘Marble Mix’ins’. They are cookie or candy bar flavored sprinkles, and they also have some really pretty multi-colored sprinkles.

  114. I just LOVE your blog! I have tried so many of your recipes! YUMMY! I would have so much fun with 20 different sprinkles! Holiday cookies, here I come!

    hhodgkin@charter.net

  115. While looking at these pictures I told my husband he was probably going to ban me from your blog because of how much decorating stuff you have… he thinks I have a problem with buying and wanting too much decorating stuff (I have barely anything). I LOVE sprinkles! I LOVE them. Although, there are a few things that I have that just make me happy and they are my Kitchen aid rolling pin and my pastry blender!

  116. I love the cards or poker sprinkles!

  117. Oh, how I wish I lived near there! I would spend hours there!
I love my cupcake boxes that are decorated on the outside, and then have insets for 6 cupcakes in them!

    Thanks- nanspach@cox.net

  118. Oh wow!! I could look around that store FOREVER!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone’s comments. I’m learning about products that I didn’t even know existed!

My favorite item is the cookie scoop. I use it all the time!

    kellane26 [at] hotmail.

  119. Ohh! I wish I lived closer to that store!
    **crossing fingers**
    I hope I win.

  120. Oh my goodness…. I think this is the ONLY time in my life that I have ever wished I lived in Georgia. I did live there once, but only for four months and it was pure hell… if you’ve ever been there in summer and have had contact with those little nasty black flies then you’ll know exactly why i hated it so much.
    but ANYWAY….
I’m in love with that store, please show me more pitures. please pick me. please please please :)

  121. We love the little purple bag ties that keep our seven year old from losing half the icing in their bags out the back and all over their hands. I’m not sure what they’re called, but Wilton makes them and all my 4-H kids own about 7 of them.

  122. OMG! I’d be in heaven. Where I live its so hard to find any good baking supplies. I was looking for edible silver paint one day and ended up having to drive forever to get it.

I was looking for duck sprinkles too for my daughter’s birthday and couldn’t find them. (Even online) :(

  123. Fantastic! I can’t wait to place an order online. God bless the internet!
    cheryl_frances@hotmail.com

  124. I love the look of fondant, I just have mastered who to work with it yet.

  125. Definitely love my double ended rolling pin for those tight spaces in pie pans and to smooth cakes! I really just love the flower sprinkles because they make me feel so cheery.
    tamaravesely@hotmail.com

  129. I am SO excited that you showed off this store! It is right down the street from me! I can’t wait to go check it out! With two little girls I am in need of fun sprinkles, cookie cutters and cupcake stuff!

  130. OMG!!! I got all excited when I saw this blog…was all like, ‘I’m going to this store after work, and I’m dropping at least $100’. then reality hit and I realized you’re down in Georigia, and I’m up in the West Coast of Canada (yes, it’s raining up here right now). Oh well…but I can still dream, and if I ever make it to Georgia, Custums will be slightly confused as to why I would be bringing back suitcases of baking supplies and nothing else. Confession time; I did just buy a container of pastel sprinkles (on sale from EAster ;-). heather_smith21@hotmail.com

  131. We have a smaller version of that store here in Cincinnati, Cincinnati Cake and Candy Company. They only have a 1/10 of the sprinkle selection that yours does! I'm jealous! But I did go in to buy stuff for my super famous Cake Pops for Easter. So I'd have to say, my current fav is the candy coating & sprinkles. But I'd love a mini batter scoop too. Or the graduated cutters….or anything!

  132. Oh, who doesn’t love sprinkles? Seriously.

I WILL NOT eat a donut if it is sprinkle-less! Okay, I will. But, I don’t like to.

glad you discovered tinted fondant! it’s so much easier.. especially with red and black! :D

its hard to pick one favorite, but I’d have to say its what you’re discovering as well.. LUSTER DUST!!! when i learned about that a few years ago, it became my favorite thing… you can use it on all kinds of stuff, even chocolate! :)

  141. I love using my silicone spatulas and colored sugar – it’s so sparkly!

  142. I wish we had a store like this here. I live in a smaller town and it is hard to find anything.

  148. Oh my! I’d love to visit that store!

    krystalmichellephotography.blogspot.com/

  169. I have actually never ventured into sprinkle decoration, though I make cupcakes quite often. Maybe some Bakerella-chosen sprinkles will be just the trick!

  170. I wish we had a store like this in Portland, OR. Or maybe we do and I just can’t find it. Either way 20 different sprinkles would ease my worries about finding this elusive store

  180. Ooh… I love sprinkles! I never use them as often as I want to, but I do love buying them. I still love those silver dragees… as hard and tasteless as they are!

  181. My favorite Tool is either the 5 inch off set spatula because you can fix just about anything on the side of a cake, or a microplane for zesting. It cleans up the outside of a orange or lemon so nicely that I don’t feel that I am wasting any of the zest and it doesn’t give to much pith and a better chance of not zesting your fingers!
Both Tools changed my life when I bought them. But really I love all Tools!!!
    schlar.blogspot.com

  182. My favorite tools have to be all of my cookie cutters. I just gota ton of antique ones not too long ago so now my drawer is full of them.

I live in Orlando and we have a store like CakeArt and I thought ours was the best. But I think I may have to google how far that store is because they have way more options.

  186. My favorite tool has got to be my wicker basket decorating bag tip. For easter I made a cake that looked like a wicker basket, and everyone complimented me on it! I’d love to wow them all again with neato sprinkles. I can be reached at elly@reisei-sa.net
