They Got Me

The other day I was doing a little impromptu shopping. I had already spent more than I wanted and I was about to pass the Williams-Sonoma store. I said to myself. “Walk faster. Faster. Don’t look in. You don’t need anything else. Whatever you do…

…don’t stop…

Don’t look in the …”

photo

Dang. They got me.

I really tried not to go in, but how could I be complete without these Star Wars Cookie Cutters. I knew if I left empty handed, I’d wish I had bought them in the off chance someone I know wants Boba Fett cookies one day. So I went in, telling myself the whole time I would just have a peek. I can resist.

IMG_0100

I can resist so well that I only bought two. One for me and one for you. Okay, one for one of you.

IMG_0033

Now, I like to bake to go along with a giveaway if I can, but I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to make and pipe these this weekend and I just couldn’t wait to show you these cutters. Plus, my piping skills might deter you from wanting to try them. Piping royal icing is a skill I need to work on, but the way to go if you’re up for it. They’d still be super cute just like this photo from the back of the box, though.

IMG_0079

The cutters have plungers that make impressions in the sugar cookie dough as you cut shapes.

IMG_0066

You can whip up some Storm Troopers…

IMG_0072

A Dark Lord perhaps.

IMG_0075

Maybe some Boba Fett’s just so you can say the name over and over.

IMG_0073

And you have to make Yoda, of course. Make him you should. And eat him you shall.

But… but wait… where’s Chewbacca and R2-D2? What’s up with that? I want to nibble on a little Wookiee. And maybe a little Harrison Ford.

They need a second edition. Fingers crossed.

IMG_0052

The set comes packaged in a cute box with a recipe for cookies and icing.

Besides the kiddies going gaga for these, I think it would make a great gift for Daddy’s Day. Well, it might make some Daddy’s Day, not all.

Find them at Williams-Sonoma or…

  2. May the force be with me for this contest! My husband, sons, nephews, and my late brother LOVE Star Wars! You should hear my 2yr old hum the song and make the light saber noises when he’s plays with one of his brother’s many light sabers! My husband just made an R2D2 cake for my 5yr old’s birthday last month! I can’t even begin to tell you the amount of different Star Wars things we have in this house! Last Halloween my oldest was Luke Skywalker and my youngest was an Ewok! This household would love to win those cookie cutters!

  3. Star Wars reminds me of my little brother!

  4. I made several Star Wars costumes in high school and they were always fun to make :)

  5. My two boys LOVE Star Wars! Every time we go to a store with an automatic door they stop, wave their arms around and yell “we opened it with the FORCE!” We would LOVE to have these cookie cutters!

  6. When I was a kid my siblings and I used to hold Star War movie marathons…we would sell tickets to my parents and sell snacks. It was back in the old school days when we used VHS’s and it was before they digitally remastered. I have always liked them better “un-remastered”.

  7. Oh My Goodness! Check these out! These are ah ah amazing! I think my force would be complete with these!

  12. My favorite star wars memory is going to see the very first movie in the theater with my Dad when they had re-released them. I had never even heard of it because I was younger but he wanted to take his little girl to experience it and it’s something I WILL cherish forever! He then bought me a fake light saber(sp?) and storm trooper figurine (not quite the barbies I preferred but they made great knights in shining armor!) I love Star Wars and May 22 is my bday!

    “OMG WANT
    LIKE NOW”

I think if anything, I love how the cookie cutters have a plunger, genius. As for favorite Star Wars, I was and am a huge fan of Queen Amidala, I even dressed up as her for a halloween, when I was in Junior High… wow, I think that was the last time I dressed up for halloween. heh.

  23. How fun! I too was a SW junkie, had all of the figures (still do) and went as Princess Leia for Halloween two years in a row, pinning up my hair in those little braided buns on the sides of my head. What memories this movie has… I even own the original scores on vinyl. Yes, these are a great find!

  33. Princess Leia “I love you!”

    Han Solo: “I know.”

  37. My dorkiness YEARNS for these!!

  38. Watching the original Star Wars trilogy is one of my all-purpose comforts for when things go wrong or wonky. My partner and I went home for a week to my parents’ town for my birthday this past October–something I’ve wanted to do since I moved away 5 years ago–and, as luck would have it, we both got the H1N1 virus. I was too sick on my birthday to do anything, but a couple of days afterwards, with no energy to do anything else, we managed to watch all three movies in one day.

My other favourite, all-purpose comfort thing to do is bake and eat cookies. I can think of no better way to bounce back form life’s little setbacks than by enjoying Star Wars cookies.

  39. I’ve only seen the original Star Wars movies— why spoil perfection!

    Cool cookie cutters

  40. As a kid, my friend and I would play star wars all the time. We would pretend to date luke and han solo in our silly girl games. They have to be some of the movies I have watched over 100 times. These cookie cutters are awesome!

  45. My boyfriend would love these – he’s a huge Star Wars fan and although I fell asleep while watching the first movie (shhh), I think he’d forgive me if I made him these cookies…

  46. I love the ewoks. The best gift I ever received was the chubbie figures from Clone Wars. They keep me company in the kitchen. OK, now that sounds wierd.

  47. I am a huge, semi-closeted Star Wars geek. My favorite film? The Empire Strikes Back. Favorite character? Admiral Ackbar. Favorite action figure (that I own)? The jawas. 48. Hans Solo in #3

  49. Oh. Yes.
    I want these.
My husband LOVES the movies. He owns the original versions of episodes 4,5,and 6 as well as the remastered versions on both VHS and DVD. He also owns episodes 1,2 and 3 on both VHS and DVD. Yeah.

  50. My favorite are the eewalks (sp) love em! This would be the BEST father’s day gift. My hubby would freak.

  51. Ahh! That and the Star Wars pancake molds… so unnecessary… yet so cool :)

I admit, the very first time I saw A New Hope as a child… I was sort of rooting for Luke to end up with Leia. But of course, we all know that was not meant to be :)

  52. Ja-Ja Binks (sp?) is my favorite after Yoda.

  53. Both of my boys love Star Wars! This would be a fun baking project to do with both of them. Between the two of them I couldn’t even begin to count all of the Star Wars “stuff” we have. From underware to figures, Wii games to blankets, they love star wars!!!

  55. My kiddos would love these. They watch the movies at least once a week and have too many Star Wars toys to count!

  56. I watched the first Star Wars movie in 1979. When my daughter was born we used to call her “yoda”. What could be better?

  57. How cute! Yoda is my favorite character!

  58. I love Yoda!

  59. We had cupcakes at our wedding, and my husband’s cake topper was a lego Luke Skywalker in rebel fighter gear, lightsaber and all. He also has a rebel X-wing helmet, didn’t wear it at the wedding though.

  60. Honestly, I know nothing about Star Wars. But my friend Phil is a total Star Wars geek and his birthday is coming up. This is a genius idea for what to bake for him.

  61. Hooray for Star Wars! Just got a SW lunchbox and super cute tub toys for my 36th birthday. Cookie cutters would make life complete. 8]

  62. I was 14 and we made a field trip from summer camp to see Star Wars for the first time. All my friends loved Luke, but I was a Harrison Ford fan from the get go. 67. I saw all three of the newer SW movies with my ex, and they were all midnight premieres. About 9 hours and $27 worth of napping in an uncomfortable seat. But my hubby LOVES the movies, and loves when I make him cookies!

  68. At risk of sounding Geeky…

We are a Star Wars Crazy Family!!!!

Our dog is named Obi-Wan Kenobi, had our daughter been a boy she would have been named Anakin, BOTH of my DAUGHTERS are nutz over Star Wars figurines, costumes, movies, DS games, Pinatas, etc. (making daddy so proud) and my husband God love him has kept his original figurines all of these years!!!!

I will buy these cookie cutters reguardless of the contest!!!!

  69. My husband, the first year we were dating, made his very own storm trooper costume for Halloween. He did an amazing job, and I’m not saying that because he’s my husband. My mom, made me a Boba Fett costume. We were a cute couple. ;) We won a contest that night. Good times, good times! Growing up, my husband and his siblings (6 kids in his family) would play Star Wars.

  74. My son is 5. Thanks to my husband, he has seen all 6 of the movies (even Episode 3, which he conveniently forgot how violent it was) by the time he was 4. He is obsessed.

  75. Return of the Jedi. My absolute favorite of the three Star Wars Movies. There I said it. The three that came out in recent years do not count, they are ridiculous, George Lucas should have stopped while he was ahead :)

  76. Wow these are VERY cool!!! They certainly bring back good memories! My brother and I used to have star wars action figures as kids and we would always play with them with eachother. We had great fun and I’m sure if I searched hard enough i could probably findthem again! Hmm, somewhere in the attic perhaps…

  77. My girls at age 5 are starting to become obsessed with Star Wars and are always asking to watch it. Plus they like making cookies and frosting them…So what better thing to do than make star wars cookies and watch the movie while eating them!

  78. I just have a really silly story about Star Wars to tell you:

My brothers went to the midnight showing of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith the night before opening day. Driving back home from the theater super late at night, my brother was speeding — just a little bit. And, of course, with his luck, he got pulled over just two blocks away from our house.
When the officer approached my brother’s window to give him the low-down, my brother apologized for speeding, and just explained that it was just because he was “so pumped up about Star Wars!”
The officer’s reply? “You just saw Revenge of the Sith?? I can’t wait to see it! I can’t blame you for being so excited about it!!”
Of course, my brother got away with a great story to tell, and not a single charge on his record.

    Haha. :)

These cookie cutters are amazing! I love Star Wars, and my brothers would definitely appreciate the cookies that would result from these! :D

Thanks so much for sharing, Bakerella!

    :) Holly

  82. When I was in elementary school my friend’s father used to film us re-creating Star Wars scenes… I was Princess Leia & he was Luke, and other friends were “cast” as Han Solo, Darth Vader, etc. depending on who was around… very low budget (picture 80’s mammoth video camera!), but LOTS of fun!

Fun sidenote – my friend, “Luke”, grew up to become an actor!
I grew up with a crazy love of cinnamon buns – I blame Leia’s hair ;)

LOL My husband’s favorite is between Yoda and Darth Vader.

  114. i made my fiance sit through the entire star wars marathon haha!

  115. Too cute! My secret nerd shame is that in my almost 20 years of life, I have never seen the original Star Wars trilogy! With how assimilated the films are into pop culture, I know the plot and a fair bit about the films, but I do not remember ever actually watching them. One of my goals for this summer is to make sure that I watch them, so I no longer have to hide my shame from friends and loved ones.

  143. I saw the first Star Wars when it came out. I saw the 2nd Star Wars when it came out. When the third one came out, and before I saw it, I found out they were going to make 3 more that precede the first, ie: Prequels! So I decided then and there that I would not see the 3rd one until I could see all 6 in a row. And, I haven’t seen the last 4 to this day. But, my friend has all the DVDs and it’s on our list to have a Star Wars marathon.

Also, my first Blue Russian would flatten his ears to the side when he was “disgruntled” and that made him look just like Yoda!

  144. My BIL needs these cookies! Please please let me win these! He has EVERYTHING else, even a Yoda tree topper. When they walked into their wedding, they walked in to the theme…

  145. I FINALLY caught one of your giveaways in time! I usually ooh and ahh only to find I’ve already missed out.

My hair was styled that way…. Now I dont need to watch it. My husband knows every line to every single one. He even knows the other languages (scary huh?). What an awesome Father’s Day present to show him that I love his photographic memory.

  149. My son is the Star Wars fan in our family and wants a Star Wars birthday party in a few weeks. I would LOVE to make these for him!!

  150. Oh those are waaay too adorable :D

    (Boba Fett ftw.)

I remember seeing the movies as a kid in my grandfather’s house and being totally traumatized by Luke getting his hand cut off. My mom insists that never happened — er, me seeing the movies that young, I mean — but, well, we just agree to disagree :D

  151. Oh goody fun cookies

  152. Honestly, I am NOT a Star Wars fan, but I know plenty of people who are. And like you said, who could resist those adorable cookie cutters. They would make a great gift for someone to munch. Besides, just because you don’t like the movie doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the cookies!!! :D

  153. We have more light sabers in this house than I can count. Some are for playing with and some are strictly for display purposes only. These cookies will go great with our Darth Vader cookie jar. ; )

  154. oooh i really want these…i had a whole star wars marathon the days before the last one came out….i’d never seen them before!!

  155. My step-daughter is a star wars freak. Even if I don’t win these we are sooo getting them. Though she agrees they need a chewy and a r2d2.

  156. My brother-in-law loves Star Wars, and cookies! How perfect.

  157. My bff, her little bro and I used to re-enact the garbage crusher scene after watching Star Wars on laser disc.

  158. I always wanted to be Princess Leia when I grew up!

  159. I would be mum of the year if I made Star War cookies.

  160. My two year old son is OBSESSED with Star Wars. He turns three in July. We need these.

  161. Wow, those are awesome! DH is the biggest Star Wars fan, I’d love to surprise him with a batch of cookies.

  162. I love the wookies! I use to pretend I was one and would run around the house like a nut. I was a special kid. :)

  163. We would love these. Thanks.

  164. What a fantastic set of cookie cutters! Keeping my fingers crossed.

  165. Wow, those are awesome! DH is the biggest Star Wars fan, I’d love to surprise him with a batch of cookies.

  166. Thanks for the opportunity.

  167. Star Wars cookie cutters? Count me in!

  169. I like all the movies, and love most of all the ewoks! :D

  170. I am always amazed at how any people comment on here!! :)
I love these. I’m not a huge Star Wars freak, but I do love these and I do have friends who would geek-out if I made cookies shaped like Yoda.
Actually, it’ s a shame these weren’t out earlier in time for Star Wars day. My parents’ wedding anniversary is May 4th – Star Wars day (a fact they were not aware of at the time of sending out invitations with the date). It would have been great to make a batch of these for an anniversary present for them… lol
    Great post! :)
    xo

  171. Every year when I was in middle school and high school my friends and I would ring in the new year with an all-night Star Wars Triology marathon. Good times. :-)

  172. I would LOVE this for my husband! He’s a huge Star Wars fan and this would be the perfect addition for his care packages I send him every month :)

  173. I want to make these cookies for my husband and son while they are watching Star Wars! How fun!

  174. The best of the series in my opinion is The Empire Strikes Back. It is one of my favorites!!! The cookies would go great with any 30th anniversary parties for the release of the movie!~!!

  175. Well, I learned today that Sir Alec Guinness wanted to have Obi-Wan killed off because he couldn’t stand uttering any more “banal” lines like he was given. And I don’t blame him! :)

  176. I thought Luke was just HOT!

  177. Would love these for my little one’s 1st birthday party!

  178. Fabulous!

  179. We have fun watching Yoda.

  180. My husband loves Star Wars- he does a mean Wookie impersonation. May the force be with you and my number!!

  181. I just got back from the store tonight with random cookie cutters and all of the things needed to learn how to decorate cookies. My 18 yo daughter LOVES Star Wars. When she was a little girl she would wind her hair up on the sides and wrap blankets around her to be Princess Leila. We have photos – too funny!

  182. My kids love the Star Wars Clone Wars

  183. if you can believe it, i’ve never seen stars wars…i know, i know…

  184. One word: Ewoks! How can you not love those little guys?!

  185. My son loves Star Wars and would be so happy to have these.

  186. I never saw any of the Star Wars movies until a couple years ago when my husband forced me to watch them with him, LOL!

  187. my favorite star wars is for sure the clone wars animated ones!!

  188. totally awesome! well, i’m a fan of han solo…and given a choice, i think darth vadar is cooler than yoda!

  189. Chewbacca is my favorite. Mostlly because my favorite hockey player reminds me of him. and my dog does too :) My boyfriend calls my dog Chewbacca

  190. I love Chewy! Only because my boyfriend does the voice (growl?) thing so well! :) Makes me laugh everytime!

  191. My boyfriend LOVES Star Wars (he used to be quite heavily involved in the fan community, too– he has a spindle of burned CD Star Wars podcasts). I would love to get these for him– they’d be so much fun!

  192. I’m more of a classic Star Wars fan. Being the last of four children and born in the early 80s I spent many hours in front of the TV watching wookies!!

  193. Han Solo! Need I say more?

  194. Here’s my Star Wars comment…I’ve never seen any of the movies!! I know a lot of aficionados though, and I love the work on a new cookie form!

  195. the original star wars— and yoda!!!! love the cutters!

  196. I handmade Star Wars costumes for my 7, 5, and 2 year old this past year – Luke as pilot, Obi Wan, and Princess Leia. I studies still frames from the New Hope movie and they were awesome if I do say so myself! My kids would love to use these cutters with me!

  197. I have three sons and just the second two really got into Star Wars. They have watched the movies mutliple times and we have tons of Star Wars stuff – Legos, dress-up, you name it! Most importantly, 2 years ago we brought home a baby cockapoo. He looked so much like Chewbaca that he now has his name. Chewie!

  198. Those are seriously cool. My husband has ORIGIONAL ships, action figures, etc from the 70’s. We have many family members who LOVE it. How can you NOT love it?

  199. So I’m scrolling through my Google reader and this post pops up… and I showed my husband and he sat next to me making these strange excited noises… kind of Darth Vader-y, actually! I think he’d learn to bake if I won them!
