My friend Cupcake Julie had her Christmas party this past weekend.
You may remember her gorgeous sugar-themed decorations.
Stuff like this.
(Here’s the post from last year if you want to see visions of sugar plums dancing in your head for the next few days. Make sure you check out the kids play bakery, too. It’s incredible.)
It’s hard to imagine, but this year was even more beautiful than last.
Colonel Cupcake was there again this year.
And so was this guy.
And this one.
And this little one. These guys were all over the place.
You may also remember seeing them from the Toronto Book Signing Post.
Teatro Verde is the only store I’ve actually seen them sold in. It made me happy to see them on display.
Anyway, I love ’em. So festive and sweet.
As a surprise for Julie, I made a few cake pops inspired by them to bring to the party.
Wanna see?
Cupcake Nutcracker guys.
She squealed. I smiled.
They’re double decker cake pops, too. Tricky and a little over the top, but I couldn’t resist.
I also made some Christmas Tree cake pops.
Much easier. But instead of doing them in green, I kept them in her holiday color scheme.
I really like them like this.
Speaking of trees, Julie’s party decorations this year also included two new ones.
This cheerful pink one covered in snowmen.
And this whimsical upside down tree.
Amazing, huh.
But that’s Julie.
Here’s her dessert table. Filled with tons of treats.
Cookies and candy.
Cake Pops, of course.
Mini cupcakes from Crumb in New York.
Macarons and much, much more.
Completely lovely. I wish you could have been there with me.
But since you weren’t … how about a couple of cute guys to keep you company?
I just so happen to know of two that are about ten inches tall.
I thought I’d part with these to share them with one of you.
Enter for a chance to win these two sweet soldiers.
- Simply leave a comment on this post and tell me your favorite thing to eat on Christmas. Real food this time. Something non-sweet. I was on sugar overload this weekend and I need some ideas. I know you guys will have some great ones.
- Deadline to enter is Tuesday, December 21 at 7:00 pm ET. TIME’S UP. Winner announced below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening.
P.S. – If you know another store that sells them too, I’d love to hear.
Good Luck!
And the winner is………
The morning starts out with a variety of homemade breads (pumpkin, banana, and lemon poppy) while my son feverishly unwraps his presents. I have not found the perfect Christmas dinner yet…
My favorite thing is my Nonnie’s roast. Delicious!
I lam so looking forward to having a gluten-free bun (that tastes yummy) for a ham sandwich. Anything gluten free that I don’t either have to make myself or worry about getting sick from is a wonderful reason to be happy! Blessing!
I LOVE to eat mashed potatoes every year on Christmas. It’s definitely not a Christmas without mashed potatoes.
spinach dip!!
Baked cheese grits are the best, I always eat way too much.
My mother’s mashed sweet potatoes – delicious!
a simple easy cream cheese and pesto dip…
depending how many people you are having you can always add more to the recipe . but for basics…
1- 8oz pack of cream cheese
1/4 c pesto
1 chopped roman tomato
shredded mozzarella cheese
in a glass dish place cream cheese brick,
top with pesto, tomatoes, and cheese. place in 350* oven for about 15-20 min, or just until shredded cheese is melted.
take out and enjoy with crackers!
merry Christmas everyone!
I love all the sweet of Christmas, but I also love the saltyness of Christmas. My favorites are the cheese balls, my sister makes an amazing ham and pineapple cheeseball that is to DIE FOR!
homemade Pierogie – my parents and I just made our 2 batches to have on Christmas. Plain potato that will be fried and smothered in butter, yum!
Seafood. We already have shrimp or lobster. YUM!
Being from Australia it’s always hot at christmas so we love having cold seafood lunches and yummy fruit salad kebab sticks and juicy cold watermelon. mmmm
My mother’s stuffing. Then you have to make sure you take a big forkful of stuffing, turkey and cranbery sauce. Super yum.
Hot appetizers!!! Anything involving cheese and/or bacon, really. LOL One of my favorites, though a pain to make, are Bacon Crisps, a Paula Deen recipe, in which you wrap a club cracker with shredded parmesan cheese and bacon, then bake low and slow. *drool*
Not that I eat much more than sugar for Christmas – but I do love the cheesy potatoes that we have alongside the other food. Carbs, I know, but yummy ones. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I like to make homemade meatballs on Christmas Eve — it’s a good contrast to the ham and fixins we’ll eat on Christmas and I have a friend’s recipe that makes about 80, so we can feed a lot of people. :) Merry Christmas!
I absolutely love the whimsical nature of her decorations. It makes me feel like a kid again.
I must have my aunt’s Sweet Potato Souffle with the crunchy topping. I love, love it.
My favorite things to eat at Christmas are 1) sweet: my Aunt Pam’s fudge. I have never tasted a fudge as delectable, smooth and creamy as hers. And 2) my Dad’s prime rib. We have it every year for Christmas dinner, and it too is amazing!
Although I now live in the south, I grew up in New England, so for the past several years we have had lobster for Christmas dinner – yummy! And LOVE YOUR CAKE POPS!! I’ve made the turkeys and the Christmas trees and even won a prize this weekend for the Christmas tree cake pops at a friend’s holiday party!
My favorite thing to eat is a spiral cut honey ham….. DELISH!!!
Non-sweet?! I’m drawing a blank…..Just kidding. This year I can’t wait to dig into the holiday ham. Normally, I get excited for the side dishes like garlic mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.
My favorite thing to have are pierogi, full of potato and onion and topped with sour cream. Schnitzel comes a close second. Eastern European comfort food is where it is at for my holiday happiness.
big piping hot bowls of beef stew!
I love to eat roasted brussel sprouts and pomegranates…
I’m not sure if you qualify this as ‘real food’, but it wouldn’t be Christmas morning for me w/o apple cider. It warms in the crock pot all night and is just delightful on our cold Rocky Mountain Christmas morning. ;)
Stuffed celery, the way my Mema made it – I could seriously eat only that and be perfectly content.
It is a sweet dish, but I’m really looking forward to eating pears stewed in port wine again! We always eat it as a vegtable with the meat, so it doesn’t count as sweet ;)
Happy holidays!
My favorite Christmas treat to eat are Potato Balls, which are made with mashed potato, coconut, confectioners sugar, and peppermint flavoring, rolled into balls and then dipped in chocolate.
so cute!!
my grandma’s pistachio salad! yum!
We also hosted a big holiday party and the last few years I’ve been serving sour cream and onion potato chip chicken nuggets. It’s a Paula Dean recipe and everybody just loves them.
Shrimp and Corn Chowder. My family ONLY makes it Christmas Eve for dinner (along with the rest of the holiday spread). It’s amazingly delicious and even though I could make it any time of year, I opt to stick with tradition and only eat it at Christmas. Yum. Very glad for this weekend!!
mashed potatoes with herbs and ham of course!
My favorite is the Garlic mashed potato’s with cream cheese…yummmy.
Christmas ham. YUM yum yum!
We eat cinnamon french toast for breakfast. We didn’t have a set Christmas dinner when I was growing up, I’d like to start that with my family. I should start looking for recipes!
I like the variety of Italian candy and pizelles (not sure how to spell that one).
My mom’s homemade cheese\spinach ravioli and her homemade gravy (aka sauce)!
Tamales. Every year they are only made at Christmas time and I can’t wait for this years batch!
My Mothers famous meat sauce! She only makes it during the holidays and I look forward to it on the times we visit my family back east. Not this year but hopefully next I can have it again!!
My husband and I go salmon fishing in Alaska during the summer and we love to bring back smoked salmon to share as an appetizer or finger food during the many holiday parties. I have a wonderful large platter and I surround the smoked salmon steak with crackers and a package of cream cheese. It is a holiday favorite!
My all time favorite thing to eat for Christmas is home made pierogies; Yes, we have them year round but from the box, of course. My grandmother only makes them from scratch on Christmas Eve, so we look forward to them every year!!
I love chirstmas carmel corn balls!
HAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Salty, delicious HAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seafood stew on Christmas Eve!
The cupcake soliders are too stinkin’ cute, and I’m pretty sure your matching cakepops are my all-time favorites.
My new favorite this year is a cold veggie salad. It has a vinegar/sugar dressing….YUMMY!
My favorite non sweet at Christmas is my mom’s cheese grits. We’re from the south, so some form of grits is at every special occasion, but you can’t beat my mom’s recipe.
Love the photos of cupcake Julie’s party!
My favorite is hot crab dip served with piping hot french bread. I could make a meal on it!
My mom makes a casserole called “Marguerite’s eggs”. It’s got bread, ham, cheese, and eggs and it’s delicious and wonderful. We only have it on Christmas morning, which I think is what makes it so special.
The fresh baked rolls at my parents’ annual dinner are the best. Melt in your mouth, but not at all sweet. Tastes like home. :)
Happy Holidays!
KellyK
My favorite thing to eat on Christmas is the homemade tamales my mother-in-law makes every year. Delicious!!
my family always goes out for mexican!
Old fashion, I know, but I still look forward to Turkey with all the trimings.
this is amazing. blown away. still in awe of last year’s homemade nutcracker men guarding the garage. wow.
OH Christmas yummies……….I can’t wait to have a turkey sandwich….that is the best!!!! We also make a breakfast egg casserole for Christmas Morning, that is wonderful!!!!
Fancy cheeses are a favorite for me at Christmas. I also enjoy a good beef roast.
Roast with potatoes and all the fixings. It reminds me of the dinner they would have in Whoville.
I’m planning on making Pioneer Woman’s Olive Cheese Bread for the fam!! So yummy!!! I can’t wait because I know they’re going to LOVE it!
I like lil smokies wrapped in crescent rolls. Yum!! And crostini’s too.

We often have an oil fondue christmas eve. Its always so much fun and a good meal to sit and chat with everyone!
Non-sweet? What is that? LOL. Well my favorite is always the Turkey!
I just love all the appetizers at various Christmas parties. I love seeing what everyone comes up with and trying new things. If it has cheese? Well, I’m sold. I love cheesy appetizers.
We do a repeat of Thanksgiving for Christmas dinner and my favorite thing is definitely hominy casserole…so good!

My favorite is Prime Rib. MMM Good!
I LOVE the way Cupcake Julie decorates. I wish she could come decorate my house! LOL!
Merry Christmas!
My favorite thing is my Grandma’s cheesy potatoes!! It’s not like hashbrown casserole. The potatoes are cubed and then boiled and then baked in a cheese sauce made with Velveeta, milk, and a few other ingredients!! It’s soooooooo good!!
Prime Rib, creamed spinach and home baked bread
Oh my favorite are my mom’s star cookies. I don’t think they would be half as good any other time of the year.
I’l love to eat surf and turf. Tender Sirloin and Lobster with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and buttered vegetables on the side plus a bowl of salad. Yum!
Probably my mom’s scalloped potatoes, but we’ve had sturkey the last several years.
Well, since it can’t be a sweet, my mom’s waldorf salad.
Merry Christmas!!!!
Clementines, sweet but healthy!
This Blueberry French Toast Casserole thingy that my Mother-in-law makes for Christmas breakfast. yum!

I love your website and your designs, aren’t you clever. OH, i’d love to win!!!!!
My favorite thing to eat on Christmas is ham with pineapple chutney and hashbrown casserole. My mouth is just watering thinking about it! =)
my fave non sweet food to eat on christmas is garlic mashed potatoes with lots of gravy! oooh, that and fried turkey! thank you for the chance to win such a great prize! these lil guys would be PERFECT in our candy themed christmas wonderland!
We do brunch on Christmas and everyone is there. My favorite is French Toast casserole with cream cheese and granny smith apples inside. Its so yummy, it is sweet, but we eat it with bacon, so that makes it savory, right? LOL
My family’s traditional Mexican tamales. The recipe hasn’t changed in over 100 years. The women in the family- Aunts, Cousins, and Sisters- are in charge of making them….they are the epitome of my holiday!
Ever since I was a kid I’d always get two clementine oranges in my stocking. Now I associate that food so much with Christmas that the moment December hits I’m buying bags of them every time I go to the grocery store. I literally eat about 3 or 4 a day. At least I’m getting my recommended serving of fruit!
And I still expect them in my stocking ;-)
I love to eat my husbands standing rib roast with french onion marinade. Amazing!!!!!!
Turducken!!!
What more can you say? It’s awesome!
We always do cinnamon rolls and cocoa for breakfast which is my favorite. But if I picked my non-sweet favorite, it would be sweet potatoes and green beans… YUM!
I know this is a boring answer, but I’m really looking forward to the Ham my dad is making!
We have a chef’s salad every year – a little non-traditional, but everyone loves it!
Mashed potatoes !
By Christmas I’m all turkey-ed out, and I LOVE that my husband’s family does a fantastic garlicy roast beef…my absolute FAVORITE!
My favorite would probably be my aunt’s cheesy potatoes. My mom makes really good bacon wrapped chestnuts too though.
Also, those cake pops are amazing. I might have to try a different version for my friend, she used to do ballet and danced in The Nutcracker for a few years. I think she’d love them.
I love that our family eats a Vietnamese dinner called ‘banh xeo’ its a crepe with no eggs(flour, turmeric, salt, sugar, coconut juice and coconut milk) filled with shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts served with rice noodles, lettuce etc and rice paper to make your own spring rolls…yum!!
Every Christmas Eve we do cheese and crackers. I love the soft spreadable cheeses, esp the pineapple one.
I love my family’s Italian dinner, especially the homemade raviolis!!! I can’t wait until Christmas : )
My favorite holiday “real food” is ham. I think it’s because I’m so over turkey due to Thanksgiving that I look forward to the ham that we cook on Christmas day. :)
We like to mix it up with Chinese food for Christmas, a tradition we’ve adopted from my in-laws.
Cute, cute nutcrackers! I make a “sleepy soup” for the children to eat on Christmas Eve that helps them go to sleep so Santa can come. Usually it’s a white bean/ham concoction with potatoes. They love it!
Prime rib, loaded mashed potatoes & chewy pecan squares!
my favorite non-sweet to eat for Christmas?….sausage and hashbrown casserole pie on Christmas morning for breakfast
I love the fresh prawns that we always start our Christmas meal with, maybe not this year – it is very cold!!! not our normal summer weather!
My favorite food is the Christmas cake after dinner, when all the adults can finally sit down and relax.
Our traditional Christmas Eve dinner is spaghetti and a cake with Happy Birthday Jesus inscribed on it. On Christmas Day I make a ham and a turkey breast, a variety of sides and them we do have to have desserts!
My favorite things to eat -are veggies from the Veggie Tray–Don’t forget the cheeze wiz in the celery!

Black-eyed peas and greens on New Year’s. It is the one time of the year that everyone in our house will try them.
Good old honey glazed ham in the golden wrapper is my favorite – and then the left over ham is used in the morning for breakfast with eggs and sausage and other breakfast items =)
I was raised on macaroni and cheese from a box, powdered cheese and all. When I joined my husband’s family for the holidays for the first time I was introduced to made-from-scratch mac and cheese. What an amazing difference. I love both dishes but the latter just says big family dinner to me, while the former says fish sticks and macaroni because we’re in a hurry.
My favorite thing to eat is our tradional Prime Rib dinner. Of course all the yummy desserts rank a very close second!!
Oh I’d have to say potatoes. Anything potato related makes my day.
We usually have turkey a pasta dish and salad.
my favorite thing to eat on christmas is my grandmothers homeade chex mix! its the perfect mix, and even better than regular chex mix!!! merry christmas!
Potato Salad! I know it sounds crazy because it’s typically a “summer” food, but it tastes delicious on Christmas day with our ham! Mmmm….
Though we don’t have it now that my grandfather has passed away, my favorite holiday food (Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving…or just about any time the family came together) was my grandfather’s fruit salad. Simple – just apples, grapes, bananas, mandarin oranges, and maraschino cherries mixed with fruit fresh and whipped cream and topped with coconut for those who wanted it. But delicious.
Sweet potato casserole for sure! OR- this is weird- sometimes we have BBQ for Christmas and that’s one of my favorite foods :)
We never have a regular dinner on Christmas, it’s always mostly finger foods and we just munch all day and night. My favorites are the cheeseball (cream cheese, worcestershire, green onions, shredded cheddar, a little horseradish, all balled up and covered in chipped beef…yum!), Mom’s stuffed mushrooms (sausage, onions and cheese..oh my!) and plain old shrimp cocktail!! Thank you for the chance to win..I collect Nutcrackers and these 2 adorable guys would be a wonderful addition to my collection!
The party decorations are beautiful! My favorite thing to eat on Christmas is my boyfriend’s family’s Cuban dinner; we eat pork, black beans, rice, fried plantains, and yucca… All very delicious! I’m hoping I can enjoy it this year as I just had a throat procedure. Happy holidays!
We always do Christmas breakfast. I’m looking forward to quiche with a super flakey crust. Yum!
Spaghetti – my aunt married an italian man and has learned how to make some amazing italian food, but my favorite is her spaghetti sauce that she makes every Christmas – I’m not a turkey fan
mmmm homemade soup in bread bowls!
My favorite thing to eat on Christmas is the veggie platter- by the time Christmas day rolls around, I’m usually on such a sugar-high from the weeks before that I take the opportunity to eat something healthy when I can find it!
My favorite thing to eat on Christmas is brunch…specifically my hash brown casserole!
Breakfast casserole on Christmas morning!! Meaty and cheesy with just enough eggs. Mmmmm….
Oh my goodness, my son would go crazy for these little soldiers! My favourite Chrostmas treat is the turkey! Or maybe the ham….no, it’s the crispy potatoes…. definitely the crispy potatoes!
My family does pork loin, asparagus, and homemade rolls every christmas dinner! I always look forward to it! YUM!
I’m making twice baked potatoes to go with a spiral ham. You have to have some sort of potato dish at christmas. Scalloped potatoes would be good to.
My favorite non-sweet food to eat at Christmas time are my Aunt Shelley’s Veggie Bars. Everyone always goes nuts for them. Thank you for the chance, and have a Merry Christmas!
I love to eat Savory Rice at Christmas. It’s a recipe from the great Paula Deen. I’ve dubbed it French onion rice, and it is super easy to make. So yummy!!
Ham, turkey, dressing, sausage balls, cheese straws…….so many choices :)
I LOOOOOVE my mom’s dirty rice. Its so savory and spicy and she hates making it LOL . It takes a TON of work, but it is sooooooooo good!!!
oh Bakerella…you make it look so easy! Bless you this season!
Every year for Christmas Eve we have friends and family and always have a delicious succulent Prime Rib with all the trimmings. Yum…
I love having christmas ham & mashed potatoes!!! yum!!!
AMAZING!!
My favorite thing to eat during the holidays are Moon Rocks. Not sure how they got the name. Basically they are homemade biscuits with sausage and cheese mixed into the batter.
Yummy. Favorite dish… that’s so hard. I absolutely LOVE Paula Deans Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole http://www.oprah.com/food/Paula-Deen-Makes-Hash-Brown-Casserole-Video
I love my mom’s standard Christmas dinner: turkey, ham, and all the fixins! Yum!
It would have to be roast lamb. I could eat it for a month!
We love cooking every year different and this year with my mom are gonna do a roast beef stew with mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes mash too, salad and of course our squash casserole that i love is so good and our cornbread..mmm..im hungry now, Merry christmas…
My husband’s family’s tradition (and now mine too) is sauerbraten!
I just discovered your website and am in awe!
Have a blessed Christmas!
Carrot souffle! It’s a different take on a typical side dish. Love.
My boyfriend and I wanted to start our own traditions (he just proposed last week! yeeeee!!!!) and he thinks my jamaican jerk seitan rocks, and I usually pair it with coconut rice- creamy but not sweet, and it cuts some of the heat from the jerk. And it’s vegan. Some people dig that, others think it’s just wrong.
I did a google shopping search of “cupcake nutcracker”, but it looked like they were really popular this year, so they jacked up the price, or sold out…
Cheers!
I love my grandma’s broccoli and cheese casserole. But my mom’s turkey is always amazing. I didn’t get enough of it from Thanksgiving!
Honeybaked Ham!!!!!!!!!!!
My late grandmother’s rice dressing. Especially reheated in a mug the next morning for breakfast. Heaven!
In the past few years, we’ve updated our family Christmas menu with roasted potato wedges instead on mashed potatoes, and I love it. Some garlic and rosemary… Yum!
Bacon wrapped scallops….yum
To me, Christmas just screams shepherd’s pie with ground turkey, veggies, and LOTS of mashed potatoes on top!! Yum!!!!
pink jello stuff. It’s a tradition.
My 11 year old daughter is squealing over these little guys. She really hopes we win!
What an amazing job at decorating. My mom makes a steamed carrot pudding that is to die for. We cut large slabs and eat it out of hand and forgo the plate and sauce.
Yummy prime rib!
Something non-sweet as my favorite?!?!? I’d have to go with the stuffing then. My husband bought me a bread maker for my birthday a few years ago, so since then I have been making the bread myself and using it to make the stuffing. Turns out great every year, and he claims it’s his favorite stuffing ever!
I LOVE THOSE LITTLE GUYS!! my favorite thing to eat on christmas is my granny’s shredded turkey and gravy!! it’s super delicious! she won’t teach me her secrets (she said if i knew then i wouldn’t visit her to eat her turkey-she’s wrong, but at least she makes it every christmas!)
I love broccoli cheese rice casserole. This is a MUST at Christmas… it isnt the same without it for me!
But all the best Christmas food is sweet :) I do make killer cheese straws every year though!
That is amaaaazzziiiinnngggg!! I would love to have an upside down tree AND a PINK tree!!
My fave food ever is Mac and Cheese!
I love when my family does cioppino. My mother’s side of the family is Italian and fish is traditionally served on Christmas in Italy. Cioppino combines all our favorites in one and doesn’t fail to please everyone. Yummmmm
My favorite non-sweet holiday food is probably mashed potatoes. I don’t usually make them any other time of the year except on holidays, so they are a special treat! :)
My family is Italian, so I always look forward to homemade pasta and ravioli on Christmas!! I used to help my grandma make it, and now I help my mom, so I’m looking forward to my chance at continuing this tradition.
OMG… those are sooo darn cute. I love them!!
My favorite thing to eat for christmas is honey baked ham with mashed sweet potatoe….mmmmm deliicious!
We have lasagne for Christmas dinner at my house, so yummy!
turkey and all the fixin’s….can’t get enuf of it!
crab legs, it’s our splurge :)
Most certainly a lovely brisket made the day before and maple carrots (sorry about the sweet but you can make them savory by adding sage.)
We always have German Potato Salad. It was my Great Grandma’s recipe, extra vinegar and delish!
I’m blessed with a husband who loves experimenting with food as much as I do. Though I’m the “baker” in the family, he makes a delicious cheese ball for Christmas. It’s devoured in minutes!! The “secret” is he adds a couple tablespoons of jar bruschetta to a more traditional mixture of cream cheese and english cheese spread, rolled in pecans. He has a couple yummy variations, but that one is my favorite!
My favorite thing is crawfish etoufee! Sometime we have this as an alternative to turkey/ham, it’s so warm, hearty and delicious, yum!
It would have to be my grandmas turkey and stuffing…yum! I also really love the sweet potatoes with fluff but you said nothing sweet LOL
Every Christmas morning, my family and I eat a HUGE breakfast with southern potato hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, fruit, and even more yummy foods. As kids, it put us into a nice food coma after the craziness of opening presents. I was never that big of a breakfast fan, but this is probably the tradition I look forward to most.
These are sooo cute! What a wonderful Christmas indeed!
Since I come from a huge Italian family, I’m going to have to say the fresh pasta and homemade sauce, or gravy, as we say in my house!
i love to eat my aunt’s cheesey brocoli…. she makes it every year, and it is to die for! im so excited for it this year…
My mom makes her mother’s rolls, and this year she’s teaching me how to make them! The tradition rolls on, and I’m so excited to eat them!
Wow could those decorations be any more amazing?! I love traditions and my family has a few different ones that revolve around food, so here they are: Every Christmas morning we make breakfast together (we all sleep at my parents Christmas Eve night) and we make pancakes, eggs, and blueberry muffins. Yum! Then we go to my grandparents house that afternoon and my grandma makes all sorts of finger foods such as chicken wings, baked beans, crackers with cheese and salami, veggies, etc. Last year my mother in law started a new tradition also. She is from Finland and she made a full Finish Christmas dinner. I’m not sure what most of it was but the Finish Sweet Bread was amazing! So basically, Christmas is a day full of great food for us!
My husband and I often celebrate Christmas without our families :( and then celebrate with our families after Christmas, so we make our Christmas dinner extremely non-traditional. Last year: Mexican feast. This year: Chinese food. I’m looking forward to chicken with broccoli.
Vegetable lasagna with bechamel sauce for Christmas…., very yummy.
Ham, the spiral sliced kind.
It has to be dressing. My mom is always experimenting with new versions, but they are always great.
Mashed potato casserole!
i truely enjoy seeing your work and enjoy your books. thanks for sharing your talent.
I love breakfast casserole. We eat breakfast for dinner a lot–especially @ Christmas!
My mom makes delicious maple glazed sweet potatoes and yams that perfectly complement my brothers smoked turkey for Christmas dinner.
Ham is traditional in our family. However one christmas I spent with some friends of mine. Their traditional dinner is spaghetti and meatballs. I thought that was strange but that was their traditon. Everyone is different.
Christmas i love to eat all the candy that was in my stocking! But most of all the love Christmas morning breakfast! Pancakes eggs and the whole family just being together is just great! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to ALL
I love green bean casserole. Simply delicious
My favorite thing to eat on Christmas is peas and shrimp….it’s this very super easy dish that my mother makes, it is tons of peas, with shrimp, a few shredded chicken (I think flavor from the stock) and cashews. My mom always made it for the holidays since I was a little girl!
Happy Holidays!
I love lasagna at Christmas! It’s the Italian way!
My fav food around the holidays is definately the sweet potatoes…no matter what way they’re prepared :)
Honey baked ham and cheesy potatoes. We always have a yummy dinner on Christmas Eve, and then Christmas day is just a free for all with leftovers and whatever fruit and candy Santa leaves in the stockings.
My folks always do surf and turf with filet mignon and lobster tails. It’s my favorite meal of the year, and I can’t wait to share it with my kids again this year. We LOVE your site and hope that you have a truly wonderful holiday. :)
sausageballs
it’s a tradition in my husband’s family to have lasagne for christmas eve… my family always has ham and mashed potatoes!
Ham! We don’t have it too often and I love it!
I enjoy the stuffing and turnip the most! YUmmmm! I love the holidays
My favorite is the leftover sandwhiches for days after! Everything tastes good the day of, but NOTHING is better than how quick and delicious those sandwhiches are! :-)
My favorite is always the mashed potatoes…yum!
My favorite thing to eat for Christmas is my Grandma’s home made tamales! Yummy!
I already commented (#1934), but did find a website where you can find the “Colonel Cupcake” nutcracker:
http://www.glitterville.com/Christmas_Page_23_%26_24_Colonel_Cupcake_Figures_%26_Ornaments.html
A big pot of cheese fondue and cold shrimp with spicy cocktail sauce, lots of horseradish!
Hmm, since it can’t be sweets I would have to say my mom’s macaroni and cheese….she always makes it very cheesy and crisps the top just right. Oh! I can’t forget her stuffing either…she browns the sausage with green peppers and onions before mixing with the bread crumbs and we always sneak in the kitchen to grab some for a sandwich before she finishes it. :)
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
My favorite appetizer to make is Hot Artichoke Dip. Happy Holidays!
