Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.

One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  2. Hmmmm…I wonder if they ship these doughnuts overnight…this could be dangerous lol

  3. I’m a plain jane, I always go for chocolate glaze donuts. lol

  4. awww i wish we had those doughnuts all the way in california!! hope you get better soon!

  5. I’ve lost 6.5 lbs in 5.5 weeks. I really want a doughnut that has no calories. Thank you.

  6. OMG! That Oreo doughnut with cream filling looks so delicious! I love Oreos and I love doughnuts! What a great combination!

  7. My favorite doughnut is a little crazy but i love maple bars with cumbled bacon on top!! Yummy sweet and salty!!!

  8. I missed you so much this week…It was like I was waiting for my crack to be delivered the way I was checking for a post from you all week:) Not that I use crack but you know what I mean:) Sorry you were sick and I hope you have a wonderful Easter..I am making dozens of Easter Egg cake pops this week..seriously!

  9. Oh… you`re always thinking about your readers… US! Thank you, Bella!

  10. Ooh, lovely! I absolutely ADORE donuts… timbits are the best! Yeah, that’s right, I’m Canadian :) Gotta have my Tim Hortons!

  11. Oh my gosh…reading this post made my mouth water. I absolutely love doughnuts. My favorites are apple fritters and maple glazed long johns.

I’m glad to hear you are feeling better.

  12. Growing up in England, we didn’t have Dunkin Donuts or Tim Hortons, we had to make do with doughnuts from the local bakery or supermarket. But, boy were they delish! Freshly fried, sugared and filled with jams or chocolate. My fav was a long doughnut, split and filled with fresh whipped double cream and strawberry puree, and covered in granulated sugar. I’m salivating just thinking about it. Now that I live in Montreal, I see Tim Hortons everwhere, but when ever I crave the doughnut from my past, I drive down to China Town. Most bakeries will have 3 big fried balls of dough covered in sugar, for $1! Of course I have to share with my husband, but he usually lets me eat all 3, bless him!

  13. cupcakes are my retirement plan. cute huh….
this is how it works, a cupcake food cart in a city. everyone loves pretzels and hotdogs, they also love cupcakes and cookies =)

ps i’m making lollicakes as we speak

  14. Hi Bakerella – I spent the better part of my day going through your website. It was my first time here, and it surely won’t be my last! Amazing ideas (as I’m sure you’ve heard a million times before). Just have to say that I identify with your two birthdays that you celebrate – your kidneys and your actual age. My dad received a “match” for a double lung transplant on his birthday 18 years ago and to this day he celebrates the age of his lungs and his actual age. So I am grateful to medicine and technology and most importantly, organ donors, because my dad is still here today – going strong, but like you, it also takes him a bit longer to get over an infection. Thanks for sharing your story and inspiring baking recipes. Those doughnuts are truly out of this world – they put Tim Horton’s doughnuts to shame here in Canada…(not that there was ever really a comparison in the first place… ;) ) Take care.

  15. FAVORITE DOUGHNUT? Anything with sprinkles. [ that applies to anything in life as well, sprinkles make it better]
SOMETHING I AM GRATEFUL FOR? Bakerella and any site that inspires me.
EASTER? spending 1/2 the day with my family and 1/2 the day with my almost inlaws.
HOW MANY SHOES? Umm…50 pairs of flip flops and about 30ish other kinds…i really love flip flops.
GUILTY PLEASURE? Making cards and randomly sending them to someone whos house i drive byand write the address down. and coloring.
I Love The Necklace, i seen it in person and it is amazing.
    Glad you are feeling better.

  16. i love apple fritters !

  17. Believe it or not, I think my favorite doughnut is teh plain glazed. It’s simple, not complicated, yet still delicious. If I win, my 6 yr. old daughter will beg me for that necklace! She is a doughnut freak! Her favorite is pink frosted with sprinkles of course.

  18. I plan on spending my entire Spring Break re-watching Star Trek: The Next Generation and baking goodies for Easter

  19. My dad used to use a bag of donuts to get me out of bed in the morning. He thought it was hilarious…he’d put the open top of the bag up next to my nose and when I would smell the donuts, I would fly out of bed and hit the wall 3 or 4 times while trying to get down the hall before I got my eyes totally open on the way to the kitchen. Doesn’t it sound like I need a donut necklace?

  20. Those are so cute! I wish they had fun shops like that here in UT…I’m sure they do but I just don’t look.. Ha!

Lets see.. I have an obsession with socks.. I started counting them this weekend… so far i have 72 and still a load of laundry with more! eeek! :)

  21. OMG I want a donut now. They look really good.

  22. Cute cute cute necklace….
So my Mom really likes those Easter Eggs from Laura Secord (do you guys in the States have Laura Secord? It’s a chocolate shop – delish!) They’re totally decadent and sweet. I used to think that they were disgusting, but in the past few years I suppose my palate has matured and they’ve grown on me. I bought one for her for Easter next weekend – and she’ll probably share a bite with me.
All of those donuts look wonderful!

  23. Something(s) about myself:
    1. I am an elementary school teacher who is currently on spring break (yay!).
    2. I have recently committed to run in a 5k with a group of kids from my school. (I am an eater, not a runner…)
    3. The best dough nuts I’ve ever had were from Shipley’s every Sunday when I was a child. :)

  24. That is adorable!

My fave doughnut is the Pomegranate cheese Danish from Tim Horton’s (at least for now)!

  25. i LOVE donut holes! when i was a little girl my mom would always buy me donut holes with rainbow sprinkles on top and i still love them as much as i did then! they’re small, easy to eat and if they come with rainbow sprinkles, that’s a plus! =]

glad to hear that you’re feeling better! <3

  26. So glad you’re feeling better! I missed your posts. Take care!

  27. I love chocolate glazed doughnuts! They are my favorite..so far. Because the sight of all those other doughnuts you had are making me question my opinion. The smores one looked super delish amd i love that someone has taken doughnuts flavoring onto a new level like cupcakes.

Two weeks ago i bought a pink cupcake necklace that has little colorful crystals on it..I absolutely love it and wear it almost every day.

  28. I live in New Zealand and we don’t have nearly as many donut places as the USA. For me that is probably a good thing because I don’t need the calories.

  29. that donut necklace is soooo cute!!!

  30. I dream of opening a Tea Salon, Tea House, Tea Room, Tea Parlor, whatever you want to call it, so I can share all of the yummy goodies I make with lots of other people. Yes, a lovely little tea room that serves tea in tea pots, scones with clotted cream and jam, finger sandwiches, and lovely little desserts presented on tiered serving trays and pedestal dishes. Love the necklace, and I am thankful that you are feeling better.

    S.W.A.K.

    S.W.A.K.

  31. Oh, I would love that necklace! I am grateful today for my kids. I wish I could tell you why. They just fill my heart with love and they make me cry tears of happiness just for their mere existence.

  32. Adorable necklace!! I’m a sucker for those little cinnamon and sugar mini donuts at the fair… mmm, just fried, still warm… amazing!

  33. I’ve always loved Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Dunkin Donuts are quite nice, too, but I suspect they achieve their best when dunked, and I’m not personally a doughnut dunker. I am really, really tempted to check out Sublime Doughnuts, too, since I’m in the Atlanta area. Yum!

  34. Glad you are feeling better. I like donut holes and have somehow convinced myself they taste better, although its ridiculous because they come from the same doughnuts. I like their slogan “Eat one thats worth it” I had a doughnut this morning probably for the first time in over a year and it was still not worth it.

  35. All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. (432 nut portions!) Just kidding. (Me too!) Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Simple chocolate glazed. Something you’re grateful for? My mom and the fact that she is also my best friend. What you’ll be doing this Easter? Surprising my mom by going home to AL. Some usual or unusual talent you have? Scherenschnitte (paper cutting) How many pair of shoes you own? 26 pair. Phobias? Water. Have had a recurring weird dream about water freezing over my head while swimming under the surface and being unable to get out. Favorite guilty pleasure. Making favor boxes for no reason at all! I guess I have a paper fetish. Surprise me. (SURPRISE!!)

Seriously, I hope you are recovering well from your recent hospitalization. My husband and I are both registered for organ donation and give blood routinely. You rock, A.D.!

  36. That necklace is too adorable to pass up…and those doughnuts look so delicious. I would have to say that just a classic krispy kreme glazed doughnut is one of my favorites.

  37. Sorry to hear you were ill. Love your blog and love the necklace! I am excited to celebrate Easter with my family!

  38. Well, Bakerella, I truly am grateful for you! I was concerned because you were MIA for awhile. You are 1 awesome lady. Your creativity, talent and zest for life had inspired me to get back into my baking and decorating and photographing. Thank you for that. God bless. Take care of Bakerella!

  39. Cute necklace, yummy donuts!! Hope you are feeling better soon. :)

  40. I wish I could find a way to get Marie Callendar’s Double Cream Blueberry Pie into a doughnut. Soooo much filling. Yum.

Oh and Easter….I don’t know. Surprising my kids for sure.

  41. Great to hear that you are feeling better.
And man, what an adorable necklace.

So, something about myself… Well, I was recently in the hospital, too. But this was for a tonsillectomy.
For the past four years, I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety. This fall, I discovered that my large tonsils were causing a mild sleep disorder – and that it could very well be the cause of my depression. Imagine, after several years, finding out that my overly large tonsils could likely be the cause of my problems.
I’m recovering well (I can eat real food again!) and am extremely grateful that the procedure went well. I am also incredibly hopeful that this WILL HELP and that soon I’ll be on my way to becoming the person I want to be. (I’m 18 years old and not currently in school or working, and plan on finding a job this summer.)

  42. That’s funny that you mentioned shoes, since I was just teasing my husband that he has more pairs than I do!

  43. Wow. I’m glad you are starting to feel better! I have always marked myself as a donor every time I renew my license. It’s really not that hard of a decision for me. If, God forbid, something does happen to me and leaves me in a vegetative state, I’d rather have my organs donated to someone who is really in need and can live a full life. Even when I think, “Wow, I’m a single mom, his only parent..” Some people have asked me why I would allow my organs to be donated if there were a ghost of a chance that i could regain some form of life, and I always tell them that when God wants me to go, I’ll go, and my son will be well cared for on earth. <3

  44. First, I’m so glad that you’re out of the hospital and doing better. :)

Something about me? Something I’m thankful for? I’m so thankful that your Relay For Life pops were on the Relay homepage last year – that’s how I was introduced to your site and I’ve been hooked ever since. Thanks to you and those pops, I’ve raised hundreds of dollars in support of Relay For Life. People ask for them now (I’m even taking custom orders!) and we’ve sold over 600 over the past year and are still going strong. So THANK YOU. What a ripple effect you’ve had.

  45. wow…I love this site!!! What a great necklace, I wish they had ones with cakes or cupcakes. I’m trying to open my own shop to make unique cakes and cupcakes not your everyday store bought cake. One day it will happen :-) Keep up the good work on this site. I love all that you share your one of a kind.

  46. I am new to your blog and what a wonderful way to be welcomed – with doughnuts! I, too, am a donut freak. Creme-filled. Chocolate frosted. Cake. Sprinkles. Powdered. I love them all! Each one is like a special little gift of delicious goodness. Each one is a smile. :) Thank you for the wonderful welcome.

And as for my Easter plans… I have a wonderfully odd tradition that my sisters and I started a few years ago. Our parents always go down to Florida to visit family and we can never go because of school/work so we decided we’d start a new tradition for just us sisters – bacon cheeseburgers. It’s not Easter ham, but it sure is tasty!

  47. 127 toffee nuts! Well… maybe not.

Easter is going to be my one-year wedding anniversary. Yay! We were married 4/4 last year in Miami and it was so amazing. I’m so excited for a basket of Cadbury mini-eggs and surprising my husband with all sorts of sweet gifts. Maybe even watching our wedding video!

  48. So glad you’re feeling better!! Hmmmm, first thing that comes to mind with the warmer weather is that I have a serious flip-flop fetish! Can never have too many pairs of flip-flops!

  49. I went prom dress shopping with my daughter this week. My baby is graduating and moving on to the next chapter in her life. I am grateful that I have her and two other adult children that fill my home with a reason to bake! (oh yeah, and a wonderful husband too….hehehe)

  50. i was driving home early saturday morning and stopped in a local donut store. it was the best donut ever! local donuts really are the best. i love funky jewelry! i would totally wear it or give it to my good friend that loves donuts. I’m grateful that you had the opportunity to continue on in life due to someone’s gift.

  51. I don’t eat donuts very often, but when I do, it is chocolate with coconut!

  52. My uncle would take me out for doughnuts and would ALWAYS order me a chocolate dip doughnut. Even as an adult!

  53. So cute! I love your blog… it’s so easy to follow the directions so I can make all your cute baking ideas for myself! I’m so excited that you’re putting out a book. I hope you’re feeling better SOON… not just so you can post more cute goodies either. :) It’s so miserable to be sick… get well!

  54. My favorite donuts come from The Fractured Prune in Ocean City, MD. They are hot, divine cake donuts! They have a zillion toppings/glazes, but I love their “sand” ones….cinnamon and sugar. YUM!

  55. Love the necklace!
Here’s an interesting fact about me- I don’t have a scale at my home and I never scale myself. Forever 53kg it is!

  56. I LOVE donuts!!! My Favorite donuts are Chocolate Cake Donuts with glaze! So YUMMY!!!
Also,I was looking at your Easter cake pops and I can’t wait to try them this year!!!!!! The Sheep are my fav!!!!

  57. First of all, I have never wanted to visit Georgia more in my life, those look AMAZING!!!!!
For this easter, I have a special day planned, it’s actually my anniversary with my boyfriend…doing the long distance thing this year hasn’t been easy but he is still my best friend :)
Glad you are feeling better! I recently discovered this site and have been waiting for another post!! I can’t get enough :D

  58. I’m glad you’re feeling better and I can fit a quarter up my nose!

  59. I absolutely LOVE bavarian cream (sp?) doughnuts!

  60. I love glazed doughnuts! You can’t go wrong with a classic. We have a shop called Marie’s locally and the other day my neighbor randomly dropped by a dozen from there just to be nice! Definitely was grateful for those, not grateful for the calories they added! :)

  61. I had been wondering where you were… hope you are doing much better, now!

When I was in 1st grade, there was a boy named, Simon in my class. His father was our neighborhood baker… he baked doughnuts! Simon and I walked home with each other everyday, and on the way we would stop by his Dad’s shop (who we affectionately called the Doughnut Nazi – this was long before Seinfield!) , where he would give us a small paper bag of warm hot fresh doughnut holes, you know the plain yeast risen covered in a thin glaze…. uuummmm…. it just made my day to go into that shop! As we grew up, I lost touch with Simon… until recently when I found him on Face Book, where we enjoy talking about fond memories of years gone by and our love for doughnuts!

  62. Oh man, those dang doughnuts look incredibly divine. So sorry to hear about your hospital stay. Do hope you’re feeling better.

Something about me…trying to do Weight Watchers while deciding which cute and delicious things from your site to make…hmmm, they just don’t mix.

  63. Ohhhh….doughnuts. I am an artist, a baker, and I love to decorate cakes and cookies…but my favorite baked good ever is still the humble doughnut. I have fantasies about going to Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, Oregon, far away from my Austin home, but a girl can dream, can’t she? Now I know where I can get a similar fix if I’m ever in the Atlanta area. This necklace is so adorable, and so very me, that I will be compelled to buy one if I don’t win this one. But I would so very dearly love to win and avoid going to all that shopping trouble….pick me, pick me!

  64. so wanted to try the orange dream star, how cute is it!! :D
hope Sublime will be available in my area soon!!

btw, i love timbits so muchie, how about you??? <3

  65. Thank you for sharing your story. I am the recipient of two tissue donors. I realized that as of this year, I have had one of my donor’s cornea for longer than she was able to, she was only 12 when she died, and my heart goes out to her family and their sacrifice. I too owe the quality of my life to donors.

  66. what an adorable necklace… I love it!

  67. omg I love doughnuts…and I want to wear one!

  68. hmmm…something about myself you say? My husband and I are welcoming our first child in about 3 weeks! Couldn’t be more excited!!

  69. And i thought Krispy Kreme’s were good! Gosh…you’ve ruined my life, now i’m going to have to track these buggars down! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

  70. I have a serious phobia of buffet lines/salad bars. People stand too close and you always see them UNDER the sneeze guard. Creepy.

  71. I’m reading this at 11:20 at night and it’s making me so hungry that I think I must go to bed. It’s a complete shame that I won’t wake up to that box of donuts – my mouth was watering just reading about a couple of those flavors. If I ever get to Atlanta, I will have to find Sublime Donuts.

  72. I can tell you my biggest passion in life is Jesus Christ. My second passion is my sweet 6 year old daughter. We call her Sassy Pants. She would just die if we won this necklace. She has an extensive collections of necklaces from all over the world including the Vatican. This would make an excellent addition to her growing collection. And the best part, while she is little I get to wear them. Then I pass them on to her. What a fun surprise to find in her Easter basket this year!

  73. that necklace is ADORABLE!!! my favorite doughnut…gotta be boring, and go for cake, with sprinkles. :) but ALL those you showed looked AMAZING!

  74. I will spending Easter with my boyfriend and his family. I have the task of baking a cheese cake and a carrot cake! I’m looking forward to the fun filled day of food and swimming in their pool and laying out in beautiful San Diego! :)

  75. Whew, I’m glad we don’t have to count all the nuts, I’m too tired for that right now! Ok, so a weird phobia I have. I have this odd fear of people touching my knee caps. Mostly when my legs are relaxed. I don’t know what it is, but I’m convinced my knee cap is going to be dislodged or something. I know, I know it’s weird. I don’t even know where it started. :P

  76. glad you are feeling better. my favorite flavor of ice cream is rocky road so i’m sure that ‘smores doughnut must be amazing

  77. My favorite donut of all time would have to be maple! But all those donuts look amazing, and after seeing most of them my mind might have changed….

  78. My favorite doughnut actually comes from my Grandparents family bakery. Its similar to the boston creme only instead of chocolate on top its covered in powder sugar. Its the perfect compliment to the custard filling. Yum yum!

  79. I personally like cake doughnuts with chocolate icing they are to die for!

  80. i love just a plain ol glazed doughnut. and that necklace is tooo cute

  81. I have been thinking a while now that doughnuts are making a huge comeback!

I just bought dinner for a man tonight I didnt know and he had little money. Thats my guilty pleasure. Paying it forward. Feeling grateful for my simple life and not being greedy. :)

    Get better Bakerella!

  82. I’m an organ donor! Love your cake pops! Will buy your book when it comes out and I love this necklace! Thanks for the chance! Glad you’re feeling better!

  83. That necklace is adorable!

I absolutely love cake donuts with the orange frosting that has bits of orange rind in it….yum! That orange star looks yummy!

  84. Great! Now I have to make my way to “Donut Day” for a fix first thing tomorrow! :0) Mmmm ~ crullers. Ab/fab give away, I’m crossing my fingers.

  85. I LOVE glazed doughnuts. Not very exciting, I know, but OH so good!

  86. My fav donut is a chocolate french cruller. glad you are better!

  87. I LOVE that necklace. SO cute! and those doughnuts look amazing. i have 42 pairs of shoes… yeah, I admit that I’m slightly obsessed. :)

  88. I am glad you are better… being sick sucks! And my fave doughnut is the Apple Fritter, which may not be an actual doughnut, but I love it anyways!

  89. Hi Bakerella,

Thanks for the opportunity to win — what a cute little doughnut!!

My favorite doughnuts are the raspberry glazed rings from Top Pot in Seattle… now I’m craving doughnuts. Mmmmm….

  90. I’m glad to hear you’re better!

Me and doughuts? Let’s just say I can’t walk away from anything that contains even the tiniest whiff of chocolate :D

  91. I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better! It’s the worst being sick in the hospital. I know that feeling. :(

Okay, the best doughnut I’ve ever had is the Chocolate Covered Glazed doughnut at this small shop down the street from my house. It doesn’t have a website or anything. They sell breakfast tacos and doughnuts.

THE BEST DOUGHNUTS ON THIS PLANET. THEY LITERALLY MELT IN YOUR MOUTH.

    now I need one!

    thanks bakerella! you’re awesome!

  92. I counted and there are 381 nuts on the toffee donut. haha just kidding! Favorite donut? Krispy Kreme glazed donut or the chocolate with creme filled hmm… Good memories :)

  93. This may sound boring but I love doughnuts with vanilla flavored butter icing filling.

  94. Oh man… I had the biggest craving for Krispy Kreme doughnuts while I was pregnant! Lucky for me and my babe we don’t actually have one in the city where I live!

Sorry to hear that you were sick… I was kinda hoping that the lack of posts from you was due to a fabulous vacation! I hope you get to do THAT soon! Take care!

  95. Bakerella, we missed you! Sure wish I was in Atlanta sampling all those yummy donuts. Instead I will be celerating my 6 month old son’s first Easter!

Did I tell you I missed you? ;0)

  96. The long twisted glazed doughnuts are my favorite :) I’m a plain food kinda person..

  97. I love cream cheese filled donuts they are hard to find but oh so good!

  98. i’m a fan of good old fashioned sugar donuts..i’m definitely willing to try all other flavors as well of course :)

  99. I’m a pesto nut. I’ll eat it on anything, even Turkish fried dough ‘gozleme’. I don’t think I’d want it in a cake pop, though!

  100. i haven’t had a red velvet cake doughnut yet, but i’m pretty darn sure it would be my new favorite doughnut flavor ever.

  101. Donuts or doughnuts? It really doesn’t matter to me because I love them all. Krullers, creme filled, cake, glazed, chocolate covered, sprinkled… ALL good.

My favorite flavor donut is probably raspberry filled powdered donuts, but then again I haven’t tried many..and my guilty pleasure is nail polish >.<

  103. loveeeee boston creme donuts! oh and these amazing donuts down in charlottesville called spudnuts made from potatoes… the creamiest, softest, most deliciously glazed donut i have ever ate.

  104. I just want to say how much I love your site and everything you do. I check daily to see what new may be on here. Thankyou.Jen

  105. I’ve eaten quite a few doughnuts recently– a lot more than usual, actually! I’m a traditionalist at heart– I like plain glazed doughnuts. However, I’m a recent convert to custard filled ones– no fruity fillings, though!

  106. we have a new doughnut shop in town, frost. my favorite is the wedding cake…a cake doughnut with a huge dollop of vanilla frosting on top. http://www.frostology.com

  107. I absolutely love doughnuts, seriously more than any possible dessert. My favorite doughnut is a tie between a maple bar with bacon and a cake doughnut with maple frosting and sprinkles. I like the maple. The only thing I think I’d like more is the toffee topped doughnut in this blog.
    Thanks!

  108. This Easter I’ll be snoozing in preparation for final exams. (and all those doughnuts look delish– too bad I’m nowhere near Atlanta)

  109. I’m glad you’re feeling better. I just recently came across your website and am in love with you and your fabulous baking ideas! <3

  110. That necklace ROCKS! I love it! I want one.. I realllllllllly want one! This Easter, we will hopefully be relaxing! My son’s birthday party is on Saturday since his actual birthday is on Easter this year! And, thanks to Grandma.. the party is gonna be HUGE! I’m sure we’ll need Sunday to recover! Hope you are feeling better!

  111. What a cute necklace! Now I want to go out and find a good doughnut place in my neck of the woods :)

  112. That s’more flavoured donut looks heavenly. My favourite is the Boston Cream.

  113. I like doughnuts. :D No um… let’s see. I sing. ^.^ Have lately been working on some new harmonies and getting back into my songwriting.
    :D

  114. I would like to try to make my own doughnuts one day!

  115. yum…those remind me of portland’s voodoo doughnuts!

  116. The doughnuts look AMAZING! The necklace is darling. And I do not own enough shoes! Most importantly, Happy 16th Birthday. You have touched many people through this post.

  117. Favorite donut? How can you choose? Bavarian creme for special occasions; plain ol’ cake donut for coffee; Krispy Kreme for a late-nite indulgence (but it has to be hot!).

  118. I love chocolate iced old-fashioned!! I wish I had one right now…

  119. Glad you are back.
I’m a classic gal and my favorite doughnut has chocolate icing.
For something about me…I am making Tartlette’s macarons tomorrow. Trying 3-4 colors. Fingers crossed.

  120. This necklace is too cute! I’ve had donuts from this place and they are super delish! My favorite was the s’mores donut!

  121. I’ve been making my own doughnuts so I don’t know if it’ll match up to taste on those yummy ones. Mmmm!!!

Hmmm…I’m grateful for having a man that suprised me for our 2 yer anniversary to Europe in May. Now, I can have my real crepe from Paris…not just Paris, the casino, woohoo!!!!

  122. such a cute necklace and those doughnuts look amazing!

  123. i am grateful for my amazing mother and the delicious homemade doughnuts she makes when I come home from college :)

  124. That necklace is just devine!

I’ll be buying some american candy this easter and eat it along with my friends while watching funny movies. Since it’s soon to be my birthday I have ordered some decorative eggs for myself filled with small chocolate eggs that just tastes sublime (I know, I opened them before my birthday :P) Hope you have a great easter too. Hugs.

  125. How dare you make me drool like this! ;)

My fav doughnut was Snickers from the Donut Mill in Alberta. Yum!!!

  126. I love doughnuts!. I made PWs 2 weeks ago. My two year old couldn’t stop eating them. Needless to say they took their revenge later that night.

  127. Seriously, I was ready to county those nuts!! How about Easter? I can hardly wait. My granddaughter is 15 months old and I can hardly wait for the Easter egg hunt this year!!

  128. There is nothing better than sugar AND sparkles!!

  129. I am a nurse but should have been a flying trapeze artist. No, seriously…I missed my true calling, or so I was told.

  130. I love that necklace, it is beautiful. Have a wonderful week:)

  131. It’s been my favorite since i was a kid…chocolate honey dipped with a mug of hot chocolate:) yum!

  132. i LOVE donuts and i LOVE sparkles. <3

  133. I am grateful for my Bella… BTW, my sister made me your redvelvet cake for my birthday… loved it!

  134. My favorite doughnut is definitely maple topped! And on Easter we will be making some maple cinnamon rolls with my daughter(who happens to be my most grateful for thing!)

  135. that is a VERY cute necklace! i love necklaces with small, cute charms like this. but i’m not just commenting because I want it (though i do…), but because i’m finally reading your blog on my computer (vs. discreetly on my phone during class..)
those doughuts over at Sublime look AMAZING and i’ll have to try some next time i’m out east.

all of the things you make look so awesome and i’m crossing my fingers hoping i can get a decent-paying job soon after college graduation this may for mainly one reason: so I can raid the local “cooking” stores and start building up a decent kitchen inventory so I can cook & bake as well–something i’ve missed doing since I don’t live with mom anymore.

  136. all of the doughnuts look amazing!!! i am jealous. i am from montana and we don’t have doughnuts like that around here!!! :)

  137. When I was 12 my family went on a holiday to America to meet up with some other family members. We all went on a holiday together and stayed at this motor inn. In the morning you could go to the office and get free doughnuts and juice. It was my first experience of ‘American’ doughnuts, it was great! A memory I will never forget.

  138. So cute! I’m going to be completely random – I just watched a movie called “Phoebe in Wonderland” and loved it!

  139. that is a VERY cute necklace! i love necklaces with small, cute charms like this. but i’m not just commenting because I want it (though i do…), but because i’m finally reading your blog on my computer (vs. discreetly on my phone during class..)

  140. Boston cream doughnuts are totally my favorite.

And for Easter I’m having a totally rad dinner complete with my favorite – pineapple casserole. :)

  141. I like plain donuts the best! Especially the ones you get from Cider Mills. Mmmmmm…

  142. I love doughnuts! They always sound so good to me, but I can’t help but feel guilty if I eat them. There will be no guilt wearing one around my neck though!
I am glad to hear your feeling better. I absolutely love your website and can’t wait to see your next creation.

  143. My current favorite guilty pleasure is two thin mint girl scout cookies sandwiched with nutella… yummy! However, I am also an avid donut lover and I will certainly make a trip to Sublime next time I am in Atlanta!

  144. Ah Doughnuts… they are very bad for the waistline, but oh so good for my soul. :)

  145. I love the Krispy Kreme raspberry filled ones…so sweet they hurt my teeth!

  146. This sounds strange, but I’m grateful that the tornadoes tonight that were trying to usher March out the door didn’t cause any deaths. And that’s saying a lot from a newspaper copy editor who sometimes gets bored on the weekend. Of course it could have something to do with the twister touching down 10 miles from the house my baby boy is sleeping in with his papa!

    Glad you’re feeling better!

  147. That’s adorable!

My fav. donut flavor is Boston Creme.

I am grateful for …literally, EVERYTHING. Friends, family, my life, my residents, my health, my job, everythinnnnggg. Love life =)

  148. Ooooh, my favorite donut… that’s a toughie. I’d have to go for blueberry or chocolate. I’m a traditional kind of girl ;)

  149. Glad you’re feeling better. I read your story and I’m more thankful than ever that I’m an organ donor.

My guilty pleasure is drinking pickle juice out of the jar. I know it’s disgusting, but I can’t help myself. I do it alone since it totally grosses out everyone in my family.

  150. Let’s go with… favorite donut flavor. Jelly, I’d say. Though I always seem to make a mess when I eat them… Worth it, though.

  151. I hope you’re feeling better! Hmm. I just cleaned up from a party for my 4-year old. She wanted a sea otter cake. No, I didn’t make it, but the bakery drew a beautiful mommy and baby sea otter. (She’s a little obsessed with otters).

  152. that necklace is adorable! my favorite donut is just a plain old glazed yeast donut because it never lets you down. not to say i don’t adore cream filled, sprinkles, chocolate icing, etc….

  153. My fave donut is the chocolate munchkins from Dunkin Donut. I don’t know why, but in elementary school, this was a popular bday treat for parents to bring instead of cupcakes. I can’t eat one now without thinking of the excitement one of those boxes of munckins used to bring!

  154. I love baking and enjoy your website! I would love to make some old fashioned doughnuts. My mother-in-law talks about how her mother use to make these delicious homemade doughnuts. If only we could find the recipe!!! I will soon attempt to make your cake pops for Easter. I’ll post pictures too! Thanks for a great baking blog!

  155. Any donuts with maple is a plus for me :)

  156. Hey Bakerella
So sorry to hear that you were sick!
My weird talent/hobby is my rubber duck collection!
I own almost 100 induvidual ducks now!
    Keep Baking!

  157. I absolutely love chocolate glazed donuts on the Cape from Hole in One donuts. This would make me think of then and all the great times I have had there. Hope you feel even better soon!

  158. Today I bought a half dozen donuts on a whim. A favorite childhood memory of mine was to go buy donuts with my father on sunday mornings?

  159. My kids LOVE donuts. I cheat and make them at home with biscuit dough… and we make the glaze and add sprinkles. And now I want to make some espresso glaze…. mmmmmm

  160. I’m grateful for a wonderful husband who gave me the best birthday yesterday. Cinnamon spice pancakes, apple cider syrup and bacon for breakfast. Going to the theater. A trail of hershey’s cookies-n-cream kisses leading to a candle lit bubble bath. Cupcakes.
I am so grateful for my man.

  161. this easter i am working at a mexican resturaunt. I can not even see why we are open. i hope your easyer is lovely and i hope i win the necklace! xoxo christine

  162. This will be my last Easter with my family for a while – my husband just got orders to ENGLAND! How *sweet* is that??? I suppose I will be learning how to make a ham, sweet potatoes, carrot cake…….

P.S. Please, oh please, may I have that sweet donut???

  163. Hi! My favorite color used to be red, but after giving birth to a healthy baby girl, I started collecting pink things.

Hmmm.. I would love to add that pink donut necklace to my collection. Hope I win.

  164. BLISS- lies some where between those doughnuts and my loves first kiss.
I smile, I share, I laugh, and happily lurk on your site every week!

  165. Something random: my husband is out of town, and so I’m having a gilmore girls marathon and cross-stitching our last name to be framed. Also, I’m trying not to miss him too much. The end!

  166. ok, one thing about me is that im so glad you’re feeling betther, bakerella! <3

  167. LOVE the necklace. LOVE the blog.

Weird fact about me: I was born on Halloween AND it was a full moon. OoooOooooo!!

  168. For Easter…. I’ll be hosting a brunch for a few family members and close friends. Can’t wait!

  169. First and foremost, I’m so glad you’re ok! We also had to go to the hospital with my poor fiance last weekend!
Krispy Kreme are my favorite doughnuts in the world, but I am so tempted by that red velvet doughnut, but girl, I woulda taken a bite out of EVERY ONE of those doughnuts immediately. That’s just how I roll. :)

  170. Oh my….these doughnuts look amazing!!!
The flavours to die for! I wish we had this sort of thing up here!
Not to mention how fantastic that necklace is!!

As for randomness, I bought a pair of shoes I absolutely adore this past week, but I am devastated because it’s been raining all week and I don’t want to wreck them…then I will worry about scuffing them when I do get to wear them! Does anyone else every worry so much about something so ridiculous?*L*

  171. Cute necklace!! I am spending Easter with my family! I am so glad you are feeling better!

  172. oh that necklace is darling, and those donuts look delish! hmmmm… i guess my random little fact is: i love love love love love custard.
glad to hear you’re feeling better!

  173. 13.. I have 13 pairs of shoes.. :-) Glad to hear you are feeling better! -Becky

  174. Those are too cute! They remind me of a couple of cupcake necklaces that I bought on an Etsy store a few years ago for me and my friend.

But this would be a really cute(and free) birthday gift if I won since my 23rd birthday is monday XD

I’m glad you’re feeling better though! :] My friend is about to (hopefully) be a donor for her brother with kidney disease.

  175. I’m afraid of escalators. But I’d ride one for a Boston Cream Doughnut

  176. pleeeease me!! I seriously need this.

  177. A tid bit on me? I hate donuts! Yep I said it…can’t stand them. Now- with that being said, my five year old daughter loves donuts so much and if it has pink sprinkles on it you just made her day. Daddy goes gets them every Sunday morning( I sit back and eat my cheerioes) and every single Sunday morning they do not have pink sprinkled donuts and every single Sunday morning she asks her daddy as he walks in with them… “Did they have a pink one Daddy?!?!” Poor thing is dissappointed every Sunday…but this would certainly make her day (and her Sundays)! for a while at least!

P.S. I just made that chocolate peanutbutter cup cake for my husband…BIG BIG BIG hit! posted about it here…

    http://myzoebug.blogspot.com/2010/03/chocolarepeanut-butterchocolarepeanut.html

  178. I was struggling with the fact that I’ve gained so much fat recently, but I’ve now come to a conclusion: it’s worth it to live a little. I’m grateful for the sweet memories of life :)

  179. Maple bars, obviously. Bacon on top doesn’t hurt.

  180. OMG! I was just passing the local Krispy Kreme and thinking how much I would love a donut right now! I wish I had I had known about Sublime when I lived in Charlotte NC and was going to Atlanta to see friends! Hope you feel better soon!

  181. Maple bar. All the way. I lived in Philadelphia for three long, maple-bar-less years (who knows why they were so few and far between?) and whenever I came back to the Pacific Northwest, I’d eat one or five, which made me realize it was my favorite.

Hope you’re feeling better! Thanks for sharing your story!

  182. Hmmm… I am very jealous of your donut post. I would love 1 or a dozen right now. Thanks for making the web more interesting.

  183. i’m so glad to hear you are okay!!! I kept checking to see if there was a new post!

My favorite doughnut is not a doughnut at all, but comes from my favorite doughnut place in town (Sweetwater Doughnuts, Kalamazoo, MI). My favorite is a flat cinnamon roll the size of my head that is coated in the most delicious maple glaze ever. Mmm..

  184. I’m glad you’re feeling better…My weakness when it comes to doughnuts is wanting to have a dozen but only eating one. LOL…my husband always complains that I’m adding to his waistline.

  185. So glad you’re up and at ’em, Bakerella :)

I LOVE doughnuts. Never been to Sublime doughnuts – they look amazing! I live in Australia, and the doughnuts here are pretty lame and expensive. We finally got a Krispy Kreme near where I live, so I am all over that! (My favorite is the creme filled chocolate)

Now a random fact: I recently just re-started my collection of paper napkins. It’s a weird collection I started when I was 5 or 6. I gave up around 12 or 13. I’m 30 now. I have hundreds. I haven’t looked through them since I was a teenager, so I am excited to see what gems I have forgotten about (the original collection is at my parent’s place in Canada, and I’m going to visit in May!!!!!)

  186. I’m glad you’re fine!!
i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the maple donut :p yummmy!!

  187. i’m drooling.
donuts are my guilty pleasure :)

  188. Today I had a donut that was iced with chocolate and topped with M&Ms. It was pretty good…. but I just love glazed donuts… and cake donuts… and cinnamon sugars donuts… and any donut really. Not a cream-filled fan though.

  189. Absolutely love love love the necklace and ofcourse, your blog! Glad to hear you’re feeling better. =)

  190. My favorite doughnut ever was *sob* WAS the peanut stick at Krispy Kreme, which was discontinued years ago due to a peanut allergy-related company decision. boo. hiss.

Also, I like cheese. like being a gross understatement.

  191. I love love love custard filled doughnuts. I allow myself 1 a month and I take a bite, then scoop the custard out (with a finger, of course!) and then eat the rest of the doughnut. There is something about the cake and the frosting and the custard. YUM!

  192. The neclaces are so cute and the real thing makes me want doughnuts!
Easter will include an egg hunt for my kids and dinner at my sister´s house.
    Hope you are feeling better!!!

  193. Hello,
I’m writing from Canada right now. I’m skiing at Whistler. It’s actually one of the mountains the olympics were held at! :D
Let’s see… my favorite doughnut flavor is marble, but I don’t have bakeries where I live so the only doughnut are dunkin doughnuts.Suburbs are no fun. -sad face- Btw, that necklace is really cute. :)
    – Ariele

  194. my fave donut flavor is new york cheesecake from KK and The Yam flavored donut from the local Dunkin Donuts!

  195. I absolutely love donuts. Blueberry cake being my absolute favorite ever.

  196. I’m sorry you were not doing too well, and glad you are getting better!

I am excited for Easter because we are headed to my mom’s house-with very little grumbling from the hubby :). She always made our holidays so much fun, and I love to watch her with my 2 yr old daughter. They both light up!

  197. I have to get up early tomorrow….to get doughnuts. Yum!

  198. That necklace is adorable. I am a sucker for an old fashioned chocolate cake donut! :)

  199. I LOVE doughnuts! Especially a maple cream (maple glaze, custard filling, super delicious). I also love star-shaped things, so that star doughnut made me smile. And drool.

    Feel better soon!

  200. Donuts ARE dangerous! But I love me a bismarck….raspberry filled with FROSTING!
