Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
That donut necklace is sooo super duper cute!
And my fav donut flavor is probably a plain old chocolate glazed donut. Yum!
Hope you’re feeling better!

I would love to own a little shop. It would be filled with random stuff. I enjoy crafting, junking, farming, and baking….especially cheesecakes. I know I could make it all work, but will people actually want to shop at my store?
So glad your feeling better :) My favorite doughnut is new york style cheesecake… mmmm! And for Easter I plan to attempt to bake some yummy treats and so am excited to be spending time with my 8month old baby girl for her very first Easter!!
I’ve been told many times that I resemble Jodie Foster …personally I don’t see it but I think it’s definitely a compliment. She’s amazingly talented :-)
good lord, this post has me jonesin’ for donuts. my fav – peanut butter and banana from Stans Donuts.
I am thankful for my daughter…who loves chocolate even more than I do!
so sorry to hear that you were ill’n. that’s never fun. however, your doughnut post is. i am not really a doughnut person, or i guess it would be better to say most of the doughnuts i’ve eaten have lacked in any way to impress me into being a doughnut person. but holy crap! those doughnuts had me salivating. especially the creme filled ‘a’. that toffee chocolate one looks sinful (yum). the orange star looks like it would be hubster’s favorite. thanks for sharing your story too. i have been an organ donor since i could drive. you can’t take it with you people!!!
mmmmmm…..Donuts! My 5 year old son begs for Krispy Kreme Donuts any time we are within a mile radius to the one and only store we have where we live. We actually gave in and went today to get a couple. I am glad to hear that you are starting to feel better.
The necklace is PRECIOUS. Love it. Just like I love chocolate-covered cream-filled. Oh heavens, my hips expanded just thinking about it.
OMG – are donuts the new cupcakes???? So bad for business…..but I can really get into a smore donut or butter toffee….or red velvet…..or…..LOL! I’m glad you’re feeling better!!!!
Hmm,,,how about this. I am so very grateful for fabulous friends. Each and every one went out of their way for my 30th birthday and it made me feel SOOOO good. These are women I drink with, eat with and just generally great people. Thanks ladies, I love you!!!!
Every Easter, I host a pot luck with my friends. After giving up sweets for Lent, cake pops will be on the menu!
Glad to see that you are feeling better. As an NICU nurse, I have been privileged to be on the other side of the organ donation process. It really is the ultimate gift of love. Some how telling you that my favorite donut is boston cream seems a little silly after watching the piece on Savannah. Thanks for you being you!!
There is this awesome doughnut place in a trailer here in Austin. They make a doughnut with chocolate frosting and fresh strawberries on top. That is just heaven for me! :)
For some reason I always crave what you write about. :) So, about me… I LOVE cute little packages and I design favor boxes for parties and weddings. My friends know if they ever get a treat from me it will come packaged in a hand folded box. My most recent accomplishment is a box I designed specifically for cupcakes, but now you’ve got me thinking I need one just for donuts!
And I hope you keep feeling better. We NEED you!
Favorite donut: lemon-filled powdered.
Adorable necklace and yummy looking donuts! Something about me? I’m a native Texan who loves to bake, has a Siamese cat named Riddle, collects Asian ball-joint dolls, sings karaoke regularly, and enjoys costuming. I share my baking creations with friends, family, and people at work! We were talking about your cake pops just the other day :)
My favorite is hot out of the fryer & rolled in icing sugar. Delicious!
My favorite doughnut shop in Memphis is Gibson’s Donuts! It’s been around longer than I have and after 11pm they go on sale! Perfect midnight snack!
I am the mother of 3 and an aunt to 10 nieces and nephew on just one side of the family. I had to share this cute story because it’s about DONUTS! My nephew Bryson was with me one morning and he’s usual routine on Saturdays is to get donuts with Papa. However, we were on our way to see Papa, so it was going to be a little too late to get the “good” donuts. I stopped in at a convenience store, came out with a hostess pack of donuts (just the chocolate 6 ct). Anyway, he looks at them, looks at me and says – I want the real donuts. I said, “these are real donuts” and he screamed….”Real Donuts come in a pink box!” Sublime doesn’t come in a pink box, but boy those look like “REAL DONUTS” to me! Yum yum!!
I am a boring donut consumer… I like glazed, chocolate or maple! I completely LOVE Krispie Kreme donuts…. warm. Yum!
I love my Dunkin Donuts…I usually get a chocolate glazed with a Decaf Iced Caramel Latte. YUM!!
Love those necklaces! We have a gourmet donut bakery here as well and I love their raspberry cream donuts or their orange rolls! YUMMY!!
My favorite donut is the chocolate glazed from Dunkin Donuts! Those necklaces are delicious! :)
Love doughnuts…usually just spell it donuts.
My colon failed me…can live w/out it…and, hey, can still eat donuts!
What else can I tell about myself?
Well……..if I don’t have a donut in my hand, how about a Peanut Butter Keys Bar? Seriously, Miss Bakerella…you know how you plug places w/ the best of something or other?
Here’s a tip. I live in the Twin Cities area…yup, I read all about when you were up here for the Betty Crocker fun weekend…well…I am a Peanut Butter and Rice Krispies bar FANATIC…and there are lots of recipies out there, but I think I’ve found the best one (at least the best restaurant’s offering on this one) – it’s from the Key’s Restaurant bakery menu and it’s so gooey good…makes me forget about donuts temporarily…and so now I’m going on and on…
I bet you’d make great little PB treats on a stick…dipped in the chocolate and butterscotch blend that makes them so good…………and how I wish I’d win a donut necklace…and how in the heck did I get off on PB bars when this is all about trying to win a little donut necklace? Holes…that’s it…holes in donuts and holes in my train of thought? Yikes…I better get to bed…this is crazy…which is what I am over donuts and PB bars and around and around I go which reminds me of donuts…you know?…going around and around and around…….(-: Good night!
Those doughnuts look amazing! A friend of mine is an Oreo addict and I just have to link him to your blog to see the Oreo one!
The star doughnut is so cute. It’s so hard to find a good place that has creative baked goods like those. Lucky!
My favorite doughnut is the chocolate frosted cake one. It’s not too sweet and it always has the right amount of chocolate. :)
So glad you are feeling better! Rich and crunchy toffee brigs a smile to my face :)
oooh donuts! I love donuts as long as they are really soft and covered in anything sweet! I guess I am pretty easy to please:)
Any donut is my favourite donut!!! I do love the necklaces – probably healthier than my donut choices now!!!!
Glad you are feeling better.
Hi! I am a newcomer to your blog, so I didn’t know why there wasn’t a new post last week, but I’m sorry to hear you were not feeling well. Glad you are better! Your blog is amazing. Seems like you are kind of famous too… over 1,000 comments already? Oh my gosh. Well I started counting the toffee pieces on that doughnut just to be impressive but I stopped at about 38. Doughnuts are one of my favorite things. I’m a big carb girl. I also like cupcakes. Those cake balls you make look adorable! I can’t wait to try them. I’ve made oreo truffles before which are similar. Anyways… I’m getting carried away. My favorite doughnut is the crumb doughnut from Randy’s Doughnuts in LA. Mmmm. Delish.
Something about myself…
In November, I will be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure for the very first time. I lost my mother-in-law and best friend (both too young!) and decided that this is the year I’m going to do something about it.
My site is http://www.the3day.org/goto/traciesmith to help with my fundraising or just to say Hi!
Love the necklace, it’s cheery.
Tracie
I live for maple long johns!!
Honey crullers are the best. This is totally my new favorite website. Hope you feel better!
I am so sorry to hear that you were so sick! We’re glad to have you back! I just really love doughnuts! I love basically every flavor and every kind. That’s all!
I made your cake pops for a baby’s birth! They were awesome, ….chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and covered with chocoloate truffles ….. delicious.!!!
this easter, we’re grilling a ham. wish us luck- the last time we grilled a ham, my dad and husband set the grill on fire and managed to ruin one of my mom’s good cookie sheets…
and i’m dying for a smore flavored donut. and really jealous that you got one.
This Easter, my parents will be painting the nursery for my husband and I’s baby, due in August. :)
My favorite doughnut is a chocolate cake doughnut with chocolate frosting. Yum!
FUnny I navigated to your site today… too many coincidental things for me not to enter this. First off, this weekend is my son’s 1st birthday party. In addition to Easter Sunday, we plan to have quite the celebration this weekend. His actual birthday is Wednesday, though. We will celebrate with everything sock monkey… even down to the sock monkey pops that I am going to attempt. Well, here come the coincidences… while I was preggo with Eli the ONLY thing for the first 4 months that didn’t make me sick were chicken burritos from one particular joint and DONUTS! I ate hundreds… at least it seems that way. I almost can’t look at a donut now, but I sure do love that necklace! As a matter of fact I told my husband this morning just in case he was already planning my mother’s day gift (yeah, right) I sure could use a cool new piece of jewelry. SO, there you go. It is meant to be! :)
my favorite donuts are cherry iced. every time we visit my grandparents, pawpaw gets up early to go get them for us! we don’t have them where I live…
I am glad you are feeling better. I kept checking your blog to see if you just happened to have a new post and I didn’t get the e-mail. Not a day goes by that my 22 mon. old son doesn’t say “doughnut.” He doesn’t get one everyday, but I’m sure he would love seeing a doughnut hanging around my neck. I’m sure he would even try to eat it!
Favorite donut? Plain glazed. I know, boring. But sometimes, you can’t be the original.
Guilty pleasure? Gossip Girl.
Easter? Celebrating my daughter’s 2nd birthday.
Grateful? Health and love.
I’m supposed to be writing a 10 page report. Instead I’m reading all about donuts on Bakerella.
Those donuts look SO darn delicious! I wish i could just take it out of the computer and eat them!
In Germany, the big tradition on New Years Eve is to eat donuts. All of the bakeries are open early on that day and they forgo the usual breads and cakes in favor of filling all of the racks with donuts for people to buy. The Cointreau filled ones are delicious!
i go nuts for do nuts. hope i win.
The best doughnuts I’ve ever had were from the Doughnut Plant in NY. Creme Brulee donut? Yes, please! YUM.
Donuts make great road trip food–I ate a dozen with my grandma once :)
My favorite doughnut is a glazed buttermilk…I’m drooling just thinking about one. We have a great little bakery near our house and on nice days my son and I go for a walk and enjoy a doughnut. Probably more often than we should, but it’s so fun! :)
I love that necklace! Next time you should post how to make donuts!
Grateful for myhealtha nd so glad you are feeling better Bakerella.
I love my donuts and there’s none better than Top Pot here in Seattle …all flavors, yummy!!!!
Oooh yum! In the south “Hot Now” Krispie Kreme glazed donuts sure hit the spot with ice cold milk, especially late night after skipping the popcorn at the movies!
Looking at those makes it sooo hard to be on a diet right now. :)
Those necklaces are adorable!!! I wish I lived near Georgia…I’d love to go to Sublime doughnuts, they look delish!!
My favorite is the maple bacon bar at VooDoo doughnut!
It’s salty, it’s sweet and it was perfectly cooked.
A-mazing…oh sorry, cheese factor coming out there!
:D
my favorite flavor doughnut is this peppermint chocolate piece of heaven at Dunkin’ Donuts. YUM!!
I grew up in a city in SW Ohio outside of Dayton. There’s a donut shop there called “Bill’s Donuts.” BEST GLAZED DONUTS I’ve ever had. And the spinkle cake donuts? ALSO AMAZING. Every time I go home to Ohio I HAVE to visit Bill’s. It’s a family business {Bill’s son owns it now}. During the homecoming season they make sprinkle donuts with colored sprinkles in black and gold {the local high school’s colors}. It’s just an awesome, awesome donut shop.
The pink dough nut is too cute!! Those doughnuts looked sooo delish…. Too bad Montana is so far away from Atlanta.
I love love love Rasberry Romeos and buttermilk doughnuts from Voo Doo doughnuts! Too bad I don’t live in Portland, OR so I can have them all the time. :(
I live in portland, or and if you ever get a chance you should try voodoo doughnuts and that necklace is really cute.
Just seconds before coming on to your site I ate a bite of a day old doughnut that I have been trying to ignore…but it wasn’t as good as yours apparently was!
For Easter my family has a homemade ravioli feast that is the highlight of the year. Mmmmm….
I just finished making felt donuts for my daughter for Easter. Yours look tastier.
Hope you’re feeling better. I love visiting here every week. We have made cake pops and oreo truffles and love them all!!! I am always telling everyone where I get my ideas:).
I love Sublime Doughnuts! They are dangerously close to my college campus :) Maybe I need a doughnut Easter morning!
Mmmm…doughnuts. I only know one person that doesn’t like them–my husband. But a peanut butter one might change his tune! Too bad Georgia is so far away….
My favorite donut is a lavender flavored donut that I got in New York City once….amazing!!! (other than that I love the traditional butter twist!)
i’m grateful for you and this website. get well and stay well!
Anything with chocolate is fine by me!!! Doughnuts, cookies, cakes….yum…drool….
I love the chocolate doughnuts with the white cream filling. YUMMMMMMMMMM
glad you are feeling better!
i like boston cream pie doughnuts…yum!
I’m so happy that you are feeling better! I love chocolate covered raised and maple bars, but I would love to try that peanut butter cup one, it looks super yummy! For Easter we are having dinner here, and I’m thankful for our health. Thank you so much for the chance, and have a happy Easter! Sorry, I forgot to enter my info into post #1521, it was a long weekend!
I’m afraid of 3-D movies! I find them deeply unsettling. And don’t get me started on 4-D. YIKES!
But I *love* doughnuts! :)
I love good ol’ maple glazed doughnuts but my oh my do the donuts in your post look AMAZING!!! I am salivating as I type!!
Oh. My. Gosh. Am I ever glad I live thousands of miles away from that donut shop! (Otherwise, they’d think I was on the payroll because I would be there so often.) Surprise you? Hmm. Ok. I will run (jog/walk) my first half marathon this summer. I’m frightened and excited at the same time.
I love being in America at the moment and being able to eat Krispy Kremes – custard filled are the best!
My favorite doughnut is the pink strawberry creme one from Dunkin Doughnuts….mmmmm :)
Those doughnuts look amazing! My favorite? Just a plain glazed, thank you very much. :)
I LOVE glazed and donuts with maple icing! YUM
the necklace is sooooo adorable!!!!!
hope you are feeling better!!
I think that my guilty pleasure has become drooling over food blogs! I can’t get enough of the wonderful creations you discover and develop!
Happy Easter, Bakerella! :)
I’m so happy that you are feeling better! I love chocolate covered raised and maple bars, but I would love to try that peanut butter cup one, it looks super yummy! For Easter we are having dinner here, and I’m thankful for our health. Thank you so much for the chance, and have a happy Easter!
Yum, i love my blueberry doughnut. Those necklace are pretty, perhaps I should get one myself :) This Easter, I would love to make an Edible Bird’s nest candy and boil some eggs for easter egg hunting with my doggies :)
Tonight I am grateful that you live in Atlanta so when I come visit I will know some awesome places to get some great desserts & I am excited about your upcoming book. I am currently writing a memoir and until you write your own book, you don’t realize how much time & effort goes into that. My hat is off to you Bakerella!
I love donuts! :D
My husband makes donuts like you find at some local chinese eateries here. They are canned biscuits fried then rolled in plain sugar. Heavenly simple and makes him a hero to the kids. Thanks for the post!
So, cute and oh, I love dounts! Hope you are feeling better!
You are a girl after my own heart! I love cakes & donuts the best! Forget regular chocolate, just give me a donuts!! oh and my birthday is March 30th! Thanks so much for all you share with us!
My kindergartner started reading this week. I’m thankful for the library!!!!
Glad you are feeling better!
I’m so glad you’re ok! I have to admit, I’ve been checking everyday for the past week to see if there was a new post up :) Let’s see… my favorite guilty pleasure would have to be peanut butter and chocolate chips and a spoon. Nothing could make this girl happier!
My Granny made the best doughnuts ever. The best way to eat them was while they were still still warm with a smear of peanut butter on top!
I’m glad you are feeling better – and thanks for sharing your story!
How funny is it that I tried to make donuts the other day and then came here to see this post? You and I.. We’re on the same wave length my friend. Notice that I said ‘tried’ making donuts. I wanted a baked donut, but realized quick I didn’t have a donut baking pan, So I made tiny mini ‘donut’ muffins, and they were pretty darn good. I am super glad that you are feeling better, I always enjoy coming to your specific blog because it’s always interesting, has beautiful photos, and your recipes and things that you do are not things that scare me away. They make me want to get my booty in the kitchen and get down to business!!! We’ll be in Atlanta soon to visit a friend, I most certainly am going to stop by Sublime.. Smores donut?? HOLY CRAP!!! MMMM
wow those doughnuts look delicious!! I live in Canada, and I wish Tim Horton’s would adopt that Oreo one you showed. Wow.
I have an eternal love for glazed sour cream doughnuts. My parents are coming down to visit this Easter weekend, we’ll have to go for doughnuts now!
I’m dying for an “A” donut! They look so good too!
Baking saved me this winter. It put my energy towards something good rather than the depressing thoughts that usually fill me when the winter is so cold and gray.
To quote Homer Simpson, “Mmmmm…..doughnuts!” I love pumpkin, applesauce, chocolate, blueberry fried cakes and cream-filled long johns. Thankful for brilliantly creative folks like you who always inspire me. Hope you’re feeling better!
Raspberry filled is my favorite donut! :)
Plain ol chocolate dip is my fav donut!!!
I really want to get the Cricut Cake Personal Electronic Cutter found here. It comes out in May. Really Excited!!!
http://www.cricut.com/shop/#3/66/906/3/CricutCake/Cricut%20Cake%20Personal%20Electronic%20Cutter
Glad you are feeling a bit better! This post made me hungry. I love toasted coconut donuts, or chocolate cake donuts, or just plain krispy kremes. . . . mmmmmm
I missed your posts so glad to know you are on the mend. My answer to most of your questions? Chocolate! So other than that, something about myself? I am going to be a grandma.
Donuts are my weakness! I have never met a donut I didn’t like and wish I lived by a sublime donut shop. Whatever happened to donut shops anyway?? It seems like they all went away..sad
I have so much to be thankful for-family, friends, a home to live in, food on our table. But as of last evening (3/27/2010) one of our daughters who has been in El Salvador for 5 1/2 months is back in the USA. We are thankful her time there was blessed and safe.
Bakerella, I luv you girl….so sorry you have been sick…so glad you are well enough to share these amazing looking donuts with me. We are heading to Boston for the Easter weekend…might have to seek me out some fantabulous donuts there…any ideas. I recently saw a maple glazed donut dipped on bacon bits (real deal bacon bits not the fako kind) on Food Network and I CANNOT stop thinking about it!
Take care and by the way I am a donor whatever someone needs from me when I am gone they are welcome to, I can’t take this body with me!
Your site is wonderful!!
One thing that’s important to me is good friends.
I am craving an old fashioned doghnut right now
and I’ll just blame it on you…
would love to have a sparkly necklace that has no calories!
Take Care of YOU!
Cath
Love Coconut flavored doughnuts. Cute necklace!
These doughnuts make me want to live in Atlanta…but I am sure my hips wouldn’t agree. I sure could have done work on that dozen doughnuts though…MMMM. This easter I will be at work…as is my usual Sunday tradition.
P.S. Glad you are out of the hospital and back at home, take care of you.
So glad to hear you’re feeling better Bakerella!
The pendants are adorable, so let’s see, what can I tell you about me:
– I have always signed my organ donor info; think it’s an amazing gift one person can give another.
– my name starts with “A” so I’m feeling like that donut is calling out to me… yum.
– I ordered some books tonight and know I will be counting down the days until they arrive, yippee!!
I hope you’re feeling much much much better. I’m so glad you were able to receive the care and treatment you needed at the hospital. You are one of the most generous strangers I can think of. Without a doubt.
All I have to say is you have to try maple bacon donuts, so odd but delicious =)
I am on a diet. Tonight I made chocolate chip cookies AND raspberry cream cheese bars. Darn it. I only ate one of each though, maybe two of each.
of course now i want a donut after looking at all those pictures…any donut would do right now :)
….very cute necklace
Cute necklace!
Yummy! I haven’t had a doughnut in such a long time… =P
Favorite doughnut would have to just be chocolate, but then again, I’ve never had a Sublime one!
Oh man I love doughnuts and now I’m craving them something fierce (which I’m pretty sure I don’t need!!)
And I LOVE that doughnut necklace (which I’m pretty sure I DO need!!)
Let’s see, something about myself…
I love to travel! And a special trip to Georgia might be in my future–just to visit Sublime!!
My guilty pleasure? Jewelry that looks like sweet treats. Please pick me! :D
That necklace is gorgeous…LOVE it! I also love, love love doughnuts…bostom cream filled=yummy!!!
So good to know you are ok!,,,May God just Bless you this Easter and thank you so much for sharing so many sweet happy things and keeping us all inspired with the important things in life….For Easter, I will be baking cupcakes for my grandkids and hopefully they will end up looking as cute as the ones you posted…Take care of yourself..Oh, favorite doughnut…ummm…truthfully, haven’t met one I didn’t love….yum, love all flavors!
This Easter I’ll be celebrating Christ’s resurrection…and my son’s birthday. My sweet Little Man will 6. What a precious blessing he is!
Oh, I’m so glad you’re ok now. I’m definitely getting your book :-) I can’t wait to get it.
I’m a mom of 2 and wife :-) who loves to cook, bake, sew….
I loveeeeeee love love shoes, the really high shoes. I have lots and lots of them. They are my obsession and it’s not good. I might need to sell lots of cakes and cake balls to support my shoe collection.
Oh my goodness, I am craving a doughnut like crazy! These look wonderful. My favorites are always plain glazed, but I might change my mind if I tasted that s’mores flavored one!
My favorite donuts are from a little place called Downy Flake in Nantucket, MA… they’re the only cake donuts that I actually like — and I try to get one every summer when I visit! And I’d love that little donut necklace — pick me! :)
Bakerella – glad you are feeling better and out of the hospital. I love your site but this is the first time I’ve ever posted anything. A little bit about myself – well let’s just say we’ve had a tough year. First my brother passed away, then a few weeks later my husband lost his job, and now we are basically loosing our house. All that to say, I am always grateful for your website and posts as it has brightened many dark days. You are the testimate to resiliency and remind us how to put things into perspective and that we’ll get through it then come out of it a little bit stronger :) Thanks for all that you do and can’t wait to get your book.
Oh my goodness, I am craving a doughnut like crazy! These look wonderful. My favorites are always plain glazed, but I might change my mind if I tasted that s’mores flavored one!
I’m thankful for sugar. And doughnuts :)
Bakerella, I am so terribly jealous of those doughnuts. If oyu came to NZ and ordered a doughnut, you’d throw it right back at them – ours aren’t a patch on the USA ones. In fact they shouldn’t even be called doughnuts here.
Wow – doughnuts! Love ’em! My first job was working at a doughnut shop & I’ve always found doughnuts so tantalizing…like they are so forbidden and yet so commonplace at the same time. I would love a doughnut necklace! And glad you’re feeling better.
That necklace is so cute! My favorite donut flavor is cake with crumb topping.
Those donuts look SO amazing! i need to plan a trip to Atlanta to try them.
i have to admit – i love plain, glazed donuts! SO good. SO classic. Dying to try everyone of these amazing creations though!
I own over 70 pairs of shoes and Boston creme donuts are my idea of heaven.
My father has eaten a donut every morning for the last 22 years at the same donut shop in Brooklyn, NY!
I love jelly filled doughnuts!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I’m gratefull for Baker’s Dozen! Looooooove the necklace, and glad your back blogging!!
Favorite guilty pleasure: Costco cake. Mmmm.
HOLY.MAN.
those doughnuts look so so so so so amazing I can’t even handle it.
Wow, I was so tempted to run out and buy donuts! I hope you feel better and I know how it feels to impulse buy xD. This Easter I’m hoping to spend it with my family out of town again like last year before my cousin John’s accident which changed our lives. How about you ^_^?
I love your stuff. I don’t know how you have time to read all these posts. I love cooking. I like jewelery. I wish I could write a cookbook too.
Cheers!
Ok, how can I live in Atlanta and have never heard of Sublime? I so need to try them out, I love doughnuts!
Love all that you do. You have inspired me to make and bake more than ever!!!!
Thanks and my Kids say THANK YOU also.
That s’more donut looks amazing! And the necklace is adorable!
Special memory is my mom taking me to Krispy Kreme for my fav chocolate glazed doughnuts. Looking forward to the birth of my first grandchild this spring & someday teaching her how to bake!
I dont own a lot of jewelry, I could probably count the number of necklaces I own on one hand, unless you count ones made of pony beads and ribbons that my 3 year old makes.
I do, SO very love that doughnut necklace! (and I may be forced to go buy one.)
SO glad your feeling better… pray that you get more and more strength every day. In the last few months ive become obsessed with making things… bows, cupcakes, cakes, blankets, baby shoes, wipes clutches, sugar cookies… you name it. Ive made an online store and LOVE IT!
I’m glad you’re feeling well again!
I just about died when I saw that s’mores donut, it looks amazing!
yum yum!
My favorite doughnut is the boston creme kind but I’ll go for just about anything with chocolate on top… or maple…. hmm…. maybe it’ll be doughnuts for breakfast tomorrow :)
Something about me? I LOVE doughnuts! All those pictures really made me hungry and I hope I have some doughnuts in my kitchen so I can go have a snack after I post this :)
I am SO GLAD you’re back! I checked the blog like a fiend waiting for your post! I can’t deal without my weekly dose of Bakerella ;)
Now.. my fav donut? White powdered raspberry jelly filled yeast donuts. My grandma would bring them over on Sundays after church.. YUM. Everytime I have one it brings back so many memories. Thanks Bakerella! :)
Your giveaways are so fun! Jelly donuts have been my favorite since I was a kid. When I would go with my grandpa – a retired thoroughbred trainer – to the track to watch the horses work in the early morning, we always stopped to get a dozen donuts to take with us and share.
My favorite doughnut is a chocolate covered bar with custard filling. Yummy!!! I’m glad to hear you’re doing better.
I am so glad that you are back! I have been checking everyday for a new post. I love your ideas and creativity. For my daughter’s 6th birthday she is having a Fancy Nancy Party. She has demanded the 14 layer cake (cause it’s fancy) and Cupcake Bites (cuz they are fancy). Thank you for providing us with so many “Fancy” Dessert options to choose from for her birthday. We had a good time deciding!
I am getting tired of this Idaho weather and loving the idea of a fruity, Springy dessert for our Easter weekend and I’m on the hunt!
The necklace is wonderful!!!
Ok, how about an interesting fact about myself. I didn’t get my drivers license until I was 21. I was too scared… what an idiot I was LOL
So that and I don’t have a favorite donut flavor, I love them all. PURE donut lover!
I live in Portland, Oregon where there is a FANTASTIC doughnut shop called Voodoo Doughnuts. If you like these doughnuts, I’m sure you would be a fan of Voodoo! They have a bunch of crazy varieties, are open late (early) at night, and even do weddings in their second location on Portland’s east side. Fun place! Check it out: http://www.voodoodoughnut.com/
I bake because my grandmother was a wonderful cook and baker. There, that’s what I’ll share :)
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. And so glad to support an organ donation post, everyone should consider it.
I absolutely adore Jaffa doughnuts (orange jelly preserve filling and topped with dark chocolate), unfortunately I can’t find them here in Western Australia, however i make sure to have my fill of them whenever i visit the eastern coast… om nom nom.
It is so funny that you posted about doughnuts today! My husband and I were just talking about them. I love plain cake doughnuts or lemon filled!
I have missed your updates…glad to see you are doing better :)
Ok your post REALLYmade me miss home! I miss the ooey gooey doughnuts back at the donut shops at home. Don’t get me wrong, the pasteries here in Italy are devine, but nothing beats donuts back home. Random fact about me, I have a flip flop and tennis shoe obession. You know, most women have a purse collection, mine are New Balance shoes and flip flops.
So glad you’re feeling better! :)
YUMMMMMMMY! I feel like getting a dozen myself! A good donut is so great, most donuts are just average. A donut necklace though? Totally amazing.
Love these little donuts! BTW: I made the christmas crunch a few weeks ago and it is so great!
That necklace is just too cute. :D
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. I actually just found your site a little over a week ago while scouring the internet for a (green!) velvet cake recipe (for my friend’s birthday). I’ve really never done much baking, aside from cookies, but I do love baking and have always wanted to really delve into it. I think saying that you’ve inspired me is a bit of an understatement.
The cake I made with your recipe turned out so well, I made a red one for my mom’s birthday yesterday (which turned out even better than the first one!). So, thank you thank you thank you for truly kindling my passion for baking. :3
Now I can’t get my mind off of donuts! I have been craving them lately and I think I must go get some tomorrow now. My favorite are the glazed with chocolate, but maybe I will be adventurous. :)
Hmmm…a tidbit about me. I’m a mom to two doughnut-lovin; kids. They’d eat them anytime I put them down. They’ll even start drooling at the mere suggestion of doughnuts.
I love dipping my pizza in taco bell mild sauce and ranch dressing..yum
So, so cute! Something interesting about myself? Hmmm… well, I am deeply, deeply afraid of fish. I’m the only person I know who has a fish phobia D:
I’m 8 weeks pregnant…nothing sounds good…except for those doughnuts…especially the peanut butter cup doughnut…and the butter toffee with caramel chocolate icing…and the caramel apple fritter…OK and the red velvet cake. Do you think they ship to Hawaii?
i LOVE eating the top parts of the muffins & i LOVELOVE crunchy pickles with tuna and salt & vinegar flavored potato chips :)
Lets see… something about myself…
My grandmother was a phenomenal baker and made the most amazing giant sized cookies. Each year she would make dozens upon dozens, and gave them to her church to sell at their fall festival. I mean she made hundreds of cookies and started in the summer, froze the cookies, and continued baking until October.
So what am I grateful for? I am very grateful for all the amazing time I got to spend with her baking and that my grandmother passed all her wonderful baking recipes down to me and her passion for sweets. :)
Fun fact, the butter toffee donut has 274 nuts on it (at least that are visable from the angle of the picture). Something I’m grateful for is to be happy, healthy, and engaged to my amazing and wonderful best friend. I have also had some pretty serious health issues in the past few years, it’s been as though my body was self-destructing from the inside out. I recently got everything figured out and every day I’m reminded of how wonderful it is to be healthy and alive.
My favorite are chocolate topped and filled with bavarian cream!
Something about me… *thinking* Oh, I know. I’ve had 4 c-sections and now I can’t feel the skin from my belly button down to my incision. It’s a common side effect of c-sections that I didn’t know before the first one.
glad you are feeling better Bakerella….the blog-o-sphere is definitely less sweet without you! A small bakery in my city makes a long-john cream doughnut, the same since I was a little girl….I still can’t resist it!
Those donuts are making my mouth water, especially the toffee one. My personal fav has always been boston creme but I have a feeling that could easily change with a trip to Sublime’s donut shop. I’m from Pittsburgh and we have a cute little donut shop here called Peace, Love and Little Donuts and they are yummy!!
all those donuts looks so yum! My all time favorite is just glazed. I can eat a whole dozen from Krispy Creme.
so this might be the best way to have a donuts , being diabetic and all doesn’t let me do much! please pick me!
I am now craving DONUTS!! I wish I lived in Georgia right now! I LOVE that you ordered all those donuts to sample! That is something I would dream of doing. The necklaces are beautiful, would LOVE to be chosen. I have enjoyed your blog so much, thank you for sharing with all of us.
I like pink donuts with SPRINKLES! MMMMMMMMMM!
I’m so glad you’re feeling better! The blog world has missed you!
This easter I’m gonna wear my pretty new dress, and celebrate 16 months with the most wonderful man on earth!!
Those doughnuts looks marvelous…I wish I were in Georgia! The necklace is adorable too!!
so cute! Glad you are well. Cant believe how many comments there are! Haven’t been addicted too long but long enough to see you go from hundreds into the thousand plus mark! Wow. congrats.;)
My favorite donut is a bismark. Strawberry bismark, to be exact. I can’t find them anywhere in my area, so whenever my mom visits me she makes sure to buy a couple for me. ? My mom and bismarks!
Anything custard filled is yummy!
1400 comments….. do I even stand a chance at winning? I sure do hope so…. that necklace is about the cutest thing that I’ve ever seen!!
i hope you feel better faster!
fave doughnuts are from the corner bakery, fried dough-y goodness dipped immediately in granulated sugar! great with hot chocolate!
I LOVE doughnuts…but since I started Weight Watchers 10 weeks ago, I had to recognize that several doughnuts a week wasn’t really good for me (I know, right?!). I’ve switched to 1 doughnut hole (“Munchkin” in Dunkin’ Donuts speak!) a week, and would adore having a little doughnut necklace to make up for those other 6 days a week I am doughnut-less! <3
glad you’re feeling better, and those doughnuts look amazing!!
Doughnuts are my weakness…I love cake ones the best. Maybe if I had a cute little doughnut necklace then I wouldn’t feel the need to eat so many…. :)
Definetly a boston cream doughnut fan!!!! Love them to death. Everytime I look at a doughnut I think “Oooh! Oooh!” Don’t blame me, I just can’t help myself! I want to go to that bakery!
I’m glad you’re home and well. The organ donation post I read again and made me proud to list organ donor on my license. Bless you and those who have given and received…
Love the necklace, so cute! It would make such a great addition to my ‘sweet’ necklaces – I have two cupcake necklaces already! I will be celebrating Easter at my friends parents house, as my parents are on the other side of the country. I rec’d some Easter egg mini-cake pans as a gift quite awhile ago, so I have been put in charge of dessert! Now I just need to figure out what flavor to make!!
mmmm….. doughnuts! That is the most adorable necklace!
So glad you are back! I’ve missed you!! Glad you are feeling better!
Hmmm..
Well I have way too many donut favorites unfortunately.. so I will tell you that I am one feisty redhead that doesn’t take crap from anyone! Especially her mother in law! ;) Proud of myself this week for that!
I haven’t tasted that many donut flavors – certainly nothing as exotic as you’ve mentioned here! But I’ve always liked apple fritters. Buttermilk are in second with chocolate eclairs and blueberry donuts third or fourth.
There is a donut place by me called Frost (www.frostology.com) and they make a marcona almond and tart cherry that is to DIE for!!!
donuts look so good.
do i have to choose a favorite when they all taste so good? and that necklace is adorable. but if you must know i’m scared of snails. so gross!
I’m so glad you are back. I was worried! I clicked on your links and bawled like a baby watching that video of Savannah. I cannot imagine one day filled with so much sorrow for one family and so much joy for another. I’m glad you are here, Bakerella, you have made so many of my days brighter. Necklace or not, I just wanted you to know :)
I’m glad to see you back. I hope you’re 100%. I’m grateful that you reminded me to check my drivers license to make sure I’m an organ donor. I do not need another necklace or trinket (trying to live simply). However, if I happen to win, I would give it to my sister … I think it would bring a smile to her face … Take care of yoursefl!
My favourite donut is a sour cream glazed from the Canadian institution, Tim Hortons. We don’t have much of a choice… don’t see many indie donut shops around here. That’s okay I guess. I like my old people donut.
Those donuts look A-MAZ-ING! and I am totally wanting donuts right now! I am totally digging the smores and peanut butter cup donuts! And that necklace is adorable.
i just recently came across ur blog and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH HOW ADORABLE! My favorite doughnut is any kind filled with custard! I also ADORE Krispy Kreme’s Original :) Good thing the closest one to me is 3 hours each way!
