Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
I don’t need to enter in the contest…donuts aren’t my thing BUT I wanted to say I have been wondering how you are and I am so happy you are back! Hope you continue to get better fast!
Those donuts look AMAZING, I’m jealous we don’t have such a place where I live! I really want to try that smore donut.
My favorite though is just plain glazed :D I can eat so many at one sitting it’s horribly awesome.
Today, I was craving a doughnut, but I didn’t have time to go get one. After reading this, I’ve moved it to the top of my to do list tomorrow. My favorite flavor varies between an original glazed Krispy Kreme or one with chocolate icing. Those are really cute necklaces.
I hope you get well soon. :)
i’m thankful to be celebrating Easter with my entire family. my son was diagnosed with leukemia on oct 7 and spent 19 weeks in the hospital, very near death at times, before finally coming home. we’re still in and out of the hospital and he has a long road ahead of him (including major lung surgery soon) but i am am so overwhelmingly thankful for the miracle God has done in him and for the chance to spend this holiday together.
Spending Easter hunting eggs with my kids. My daughters on the edge of being to old so I’m going to cherish every last moment of her time wanting to do these types of actvities.
Those donuts all look SO YUMMY!!
My guilty pleasure? Gummy Bears. I could eat a 5 lb. bag of them all by myself!!
Easter will be spent here (in DC) with family but now I’m wishing we were heading down to other family in Atlanta so we could swing by Sublime! I can’t wait to visit later this summer for our own taste test. YUM
I want to go to Atlanta just to try those donuts!
Love the necklace!
For Easter I’m making a rabbit cake!
I worked at a bakery making donuts to help support myself through college~ it is hot, difficult job…good donuts require special care… ;)
kk
My favorite donut would be regular, plain old chocolate frosted. That donut necklace is amazing. I have an odd story about donuts that I would like to submit in an attempt to win that necklace. When I graduated from grad school, I couldn’t find a job in my field. I had a part time job at Planned Parenthood, but nothing to really help pay my loans. So I got a job at Dunkin Donuts. Not insulting them, but it was a very long 7 months. I was the closing shift’s manager, so I had to over see the whole store, as well as help everything get cleaned. After leaving at 3 am, I’d go home for 2 hours so I could get a catnap before going into work at Planned Parenthood. And then I would do it all over again the next day. This went on for the next 7 months. I can say that happily, I am now at Planned Parenthood full time, and no longer exhausted. I think that necklace would be a wonderful reminder of that time in my life, and the things that I have overcome to get where I am. Plus, pink is my favorite color =)
I love just a plain, raised glazed!!! Yum.
Figure 8 glazed donuts are my person favorite. It brings back memories from when I was little and my Mom would stop at the bakery after work on Saturday and bring home donuts. She only ever bought one figure 8 and it was always for me. She’s passed now but occasionally I treat myself to one because it brings back such good memories.
I plan to be indulging in some delicious donuts on Easter. Those look amazing!!!
I love this post. I love donuts. My favorite is maple. I can’t help but eat it if I see one. I am working on experimenting with your cake pops for my daughters first birthday, it’s a cupcake theme. I love your website and all of your adorable ideas. Thanks for making my mouth water when I live no where close to Atlanta! :)
My blog is private, so you can email me if I win.
I’m excited this Easter because my mom and I have decided to try cake pops for the first time! We’re doing the cute little chiks and I can’t wait to try them! and PS I’m happy you are feeling better
thanks for the op of letting me share my story… i work extraordinary long hours in the IT world, say 50-60hrs is the norm, i also own some old American classic cars from the 50s that I run as a weekend wedding car business here in Sydney Australia and I have just re-discovered baking to the delight of my family and friends but the best bit of time I spend for myself is when I discover fabulous sites like yours… bakerella just rocks!! you give out so much … your words your photos your tips all inspire me so much that i happily will work into the wee hours of the morning just to make a cake or try to mold a topper or create an easter basket… oh how i wish i could do this full time! btw my fav doughnut (or donut) was always the plain sugar/cinnamon coated ones that we ate fresh out of the ovens at our local shopping centres (malls) after school… Aussies only had this sort of doughnut for years way before Krispy Kremes came to town :)
thanks again for all you offer the cake world :)
Susie
I absolutely LOVE Chocolate doughnuts with chocolate glaze and peanuts perfectly sprinkled on top. :]
I heart blueberry and chocolate cake donuts i think i would love the chocolate fritter. I am totally going to check this place out in atlanta.
Thank heavens you’re feeling better. And now I have my fix – your blog. Thanks for all the work you put into your blog. It is now a request for me to bring cake pops to family dinners. YUM
Love the necklace,,,,I love anything sweet which gets me in trouble since I’ve started cutting them out of my diet. :( I love the pudding filled donuts. Is that Boston creme?
my guiltiest pleasure is the bacon maple bar from my local bakery- whoever decided to put a piece of bacon on top of a doughnut was a genius and should be considered a deity.
I LOVE “Cherry Stick” doughnuts-even though they are hard to find. When I do find them it makes it that much more rewarding! I will be spending Easter with my family, shopping, baking, laughing, and eating! Thanks for all the great inspiration, I love your site!
How adorable! I love doughnuts. My favorite is hands-down an apple cider doughnut with cinnamon icing. Yum.
On an unrelated note, I just broke the “H” key off of my keyboard. Not sure how that happened, exactly.
If you ever get a chance to visit Portland, Oregon, you must, MUST take a trip to VooDoo Doughnuts. They are fantastic with so many flavors to choose from. I cant pick just one, the maple bacon or the neapolitan! Here is the link!
http://www.voodoodoughnut.com/menu.php
Favorite donut? The Simpsons classic: Pink with sprinkles!
I’ve been hoping someone would open a bakery with fresh donuts in my town of 600 people in SC. I know it’s just hoping. Maybe for Easter I can make the 3 hour trek to Atlanta and visit Sublime (Orange Star- Yum!) and the baking store you always rave about.
glad to hear you’re feeling better.
Best doughnut, hands down, blueberry sourdough with lots and lot of frosting. Although that caramel one lots mighty tasty!!
When I was a little girl( and even when I wasn’t quite so little!), we used to make doughnuts from a can of Pillsbury biscuit dough. Just poke a hole in the middle, throw them in a deep fryer ( I don’t even own one now!) then toss in a bag of cinnamon sugar. Yum. As long as you ate them right away. Otherwise they became cinnamon sugar rocks!
(I’d love a doughnut necklace!)
I love your blog. Favorite doughnut: blueberry cake. Glad you are beginning to feel better.
That is the sweetest necklace ever! I love it!
Glad you are feeling better! I am going to enjoy this Easter with my hubby and three kids, every year just seems more fun than the last.
I’m from argentina, I looove your blog and also loved the alice in wonderland movie (I took my little cousing to see it with me)
Here we don’t have any place that sells only doughnuts, and I think it’s better that way. I wouldn’t fit in my jeans!
This Easter I am going to see my 3 grown kids in Dallas. And chocolate is my favorite doughnut. And chocolate is my favorite guilty pleasure!
hi! i’m from malaysia…far far away from US but i’ve been following u for quite some time now. anyways, i don’t really have a favorite flavor coz i just L.O.V.E. donuts in every flavor possible! they just make my day. but i’d definitely kill for those hot glazed Krispy Kreme..yum~
Now I really want to go to Atlanta!
I don’t eat doughnuts that often because I know once I started eating them, I wouldn’t stop haha. But I would have to say my favorite is the simple glazed doughnut with sprinkles. I remember always going to play bingo with my grandma when I was younger, and that meant a yummy doughnut as well! I miss memories like those!
favorite flavor donut is a Boston Creme!
So glad to hear that you are doing better~ I was beginning to wonder if something was wrong…..
I am planning on making your chick-pops for Easter! I make cake pops on a average of every 2 weeks~ It’s crazy!! But I am really enjoying it and have gotten much better :D
Hope you will continue to recover and will be back on your feet (and your blog) soon! ((HUGS))
Well, this isn’t exactly about ME, but my husband’s brother and his wife had a DOUGHNUT wedding cake!!! And they are expecting their second baby- So if I win I would pass this along to my wonderful doughnut loving sister in law!
chocolate with chocolate frosting! i may have to order myself a box of donuts.
Glad to hear you’re OK! Thanks for doing the giveaway. I wish I had some fancy doughnuts around these parts… heck, even a doughnut within 5 feet of me would be good. :)
One of the things I do miss most about Atlanta is the yummy food the red velvet at sublime was always my favorite! That necklace just reminds me of it!
oh my gosh – this is so funny b/c I’m obsessed with mini donuts right now! Love the post – try to make some donuts, K????
i’m so glad to see you back! we tried sublime last year and love it! there are too many wonderful flavors that it’s hard to choose. but i do love the orange dream star — yum… other than the donuts at sublime, i’m usually partial to the jelly filled donut at dunkin donuts or krispy kreme.. well, i love donuts period!
wow so many comments… my fav donuts are the maple ones or boston creme ones yum actually i like to get a box of 12 different ones and take a bite or 2 out of each of them…. im in puerta vallarta this easter however unlike the tourists that have arrived en mass for this biggest holiday in mexico who fight for a sand grain to plant their derriere on i will be packing up some belongings so the climate doesnt eat it up while i have to move to seattle for a few years… i will miss my place but we will be back soooooooooon
glad you are better donuts to the rescue!
I love glazed chocolate cake donuts!
I’m glad you’re feeling better!
My current fave donuts are the mochi ones that I made recently. Mochi and donuts go together REALLY well!
http://justjennrecipes.com/mochi-donuts/2010/02/07/
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better! Those necklaces are ADORABLE!!
I wish I had known about Sublime when we drove through Atlanta last weekend… That Oreo one would have really hit the spot!
btw… Something about me? I love Oreos! :)
This Easter I am taking my soon to be 10 year old daughter to Disneyland. Yay!
She doesn’t know yet and I am busting at the seams with excitement at the prospect of seeing her reaction.
Glad you are feeling better.
There used to be this doughnut place where I grew up that had really awesome doughnuts…there were dense… the kind that would stick to your ribs…and I crave them all the time. I wish they were still there because it holds so many good memories for me. The best flavor was their marble and blueberry cake.
Glad to have you back and hope you are feeling better.
This post is making my tummy rumble. I want an A-Town doughnut. But a crystal one would be pretty great!
I love nearly any kind of doughnut. In college, my neighbor was obsessed with bear claws so we would often go first thing in the morning to the only grocery store in town and buy them out. Then we’d spend the afternoon in heaven eating them all.
Um, just one flavour of donut? Are you crazy?!?! If I must choose, one of my favourites is the classic cake donut with cinnamon and sugar. But then there is chocolate dipped donuts…and cake donuts with strawberry filling and powdered sugar…
My favorite donuts have sprinkles on them
Oh all of these doughnuts look divine! I have to say that my fave doughnut is definitely a boston creme, I don’t know if it’s because of the rockin’ name boston. It just sounds like a blast. And then the creme who doesn’t love sweetness filled with creme. mmmm good
Something about me? Well, for starters, I’m a fifteen year old who aspires to be a pastry chef. What’s neat, is I happen to be wearing a Sublime shirt right now.
I think I was born to win this necklace. :)
These are soo cute and the doghnuts look delicius!!
My fave are classic chocolate cake like doughnuts YUM :)
My favorite donut flavor would have to be custard filled ones. The custard is so smooth and silky…mmmMM! I am a sucker for custard things–like fruit tarts.
Love your blog, Bakerella!
Oh, that is the most adorable necklace I have seen. What beautiful that you are giving it away. And so happy you are feeling well again and writing more!!
Oooooh! I’m not sure what my favorite doughnut flavor is, but I would loooove to try all of those! Delish!
I’m not sure which is more adorable, the A shaped doughnut or that necklace! Hmmm, I’d have to say my favorite doughnut flavor is plain-old devil’s food cake, but that’s probably in part because it’s so reliable even from a sub-standard bakery!
mmm jelly donuts are my fav!! here in nz we dont have much of a donut selection
I love chocolate old-fashioned doughnuts, or maple long-johns. There’s a breakfast place here in Colorado that makes French Toast out of the long johns. Sooo good!
While I haven’t tried the wonderful flavors you’ve described, my favorite donuts are plain, fresh, glazed ones. As for gratitude … I think it is one of the most important traits one should have, and I am extremely grateful simply for a blessed life.
Those look delicious! Hope you’re feeling better, Bakerella!
Love the necklace!! and glad to hear you’re out of the hospital!! something about me..hmmm….I’m currently addicted to the show Gossip Girl…and so is my boyfriend!! :)
I’m glad you’re feeling slightly better and you’re out of the hospital!
I’m eternally grateful for my family, my puppy and to have a roof over my head. And of course doughnuts. Lots and lots of maple glazed doughnuts.
I’m thankful for my husband who works so hard. He provides a great life for our family and I’m able to be a stay-at-home mom to our four wonderful kids!
I just started reading your website and…I’M IN LOVE!!! For both superficial and deeper reasons, let me explain by first saying I am grateful for my job. I work as a nurse on an organ transplant floor and after a long weekend at the hospital, your own personal story brought me to tears. It’s why I do what I love. Thanks for sharing and promoting organ donation!
And of course I love your website for its amazingly yummy recipes and beautiful photos! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face every time I look at your site :)
Bavarian cream…it’s my favorite.
That is aDORable! We’re hosting my mom for Easter this year….should be fun.
Oh, and a strange talent: I know how to gleak. :)
I love that necklace!!! If I don’t win it I might just have to go find one myself! My favorite doughnut is plain glazed…but I might just change my mind if I can get my hands on some of those tasty looking treats! I am kicking myself…I lived in Atlanta for several months but I had no idea this place even existed! Oh well…I guess this just calls for a road trip!
I am a boring girl most of the time when it comes to doughnuts…I like plan old glazed! And as for Easter…Going to the family cabin where we will have a wonderful weekend and enjoy a family Easter Egg Hunt.
Since you asked…
I’m a mother of 5 great kids, that I like, and they like me, and I love their Dad, and he loves me, and together we’re all one big happy family!! …but, loose, wiggly teeth make me sick!
…but we ALL love doughnuts!!
Random fact about myself: I have three tiny moles (they almost look like they were drawn on with a felt tipped marker) on my left upper outer thigh – they’re in the shape of a triangle. I love my tiny moles :)
Those donuts look absolutely delicious! And that necklace is just so adorable!!! My favorite donuts are the hot glazed Krispy Kreme donuts. They just melt in your mouth. Thanks for hosting a wonderful giveaway!! Love & blessings from NC!
Glad your better! I love your blog!
Wow, my two favorite things….donuts and jewelry..or was that jewelry and donuts.. it’s both!
luv ya,
Brenda
Those donuts look amaaaaazing! *drools* I will forever love Kripy Kreme glazed donuts, but my favourite flavour is white chocolate icing with slivered almonds on top which I tried from a donut chain in Asia. It was so good without being too rich!
Ohhhh!!! Those doughnuts look decadent!!! I wish I still lived in Atlanta, so I could enjoy them!!! My favorite doughnut is the Pumpkin Spice doughnut Krispy Kreme has in the fall. YUM!!!
This Easter I’ll be singing at church then hosting an Easter meal with my family, loving every minute of it!
I’m glad you’re feeling better! Thanks for posting, I love your site :o)
I am excited to say I have started potty training my daughter! Wish us luck!
(and get better soon!)
My favorite donuts were from Lou’s Living Donut Museum in San Jose. They were freshly cooked and delicious. Their trademark was having the hole stuck to the side of the donut, like a funny little appendage. Yum. I want donuts now.
Love the necklace! My favorite donut is Dunkin Donuts Glazed. Simple and delicious. That said, I’m salivating over the tofffee one in the post.
I absolutely adore that necklace!
Those donuts look good but I’ve never been a big donut fan. I can handle a cruller or a cake donut from the cider mill (only fresh and warm).
Well Bakerella, I am getting married in May! We just decided the date, and we want to have a peanut butter mousse and jelly wedding cake!
My FAVORITE doughnut is blueberry cream cake from Yummy Donuts in Dallas. It’s blueberry cake with cream filling, topped with icing and confetti sprinkles! Yummy’s also has Frutie Pebble, Smore, and Moon Pie donuts that are fabulous!!!
Well those donuts sure do look yummy! But my favorite donut is a glazed cream filled. I went through all the comments that were left and only one person mentioned SHOES! Well I own a least 165 pairs of shoes and believe or not I just bought 3 more this weekend! WOO HOO love my shoes. Hope you are feeling better. Love your blog and visit it often! I have made so many cake pops over the past year my grandbabies friends always come running to see if brought some to their games or tornaments! Thanks for sharing. Happy Easter.
I’m so glad you’re feeling better! Best wishes for continued recovery!
My favorite donut flavor would have to be plain yeasted glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme! I also love their blueberry cake donuts.
Favourite donut? Chocolate dipped! But then again, I’ve never seen donuts like the ones you featured here!
Oh my goodness! I am a major donut lover myself, and those pictures made me drool big time!!
Glad you are out of the pital! I am having a baby boy! He is due July 16th!
Omg, these doughnuts are making me hungry. I’m not a huge fan of fancy candy coated doughnuts, but more of the plain glazed or sugared type. I must say that these look especially yummy though :)
Oh, wow! Yum yum yum.
Well, I’m writing a research paper at the moment, but how much do I wish I could be eating those donuts right now!!
<3
That has got to be one of the cutest necklaces I have ever seen! My favorite doughnut is the Trail Mix doughnut from the Fractured Prune. ohmigoodness that doughnut shop is amazing! You can pick any combination of toppings and glazes you want, then they get a warm doughnut and load it up. They melt in your mouth. Soooooooooo goood
I love a traditional maple bar. But some of those you found and tasted look awesome. Maybe I need to find a good place around here to get some donuts now hahaha
I was born in Oklahoma, but my parents are from Ohio. Every time we went to Ohio on vacations, I had to get the cream filled long johns. The cream is simply amazing. Nothing is wrong with Bavarian, but it’s so heavy and seems too much like pudding. This cream, especially the cream in the donuts from Sparkle, is light and fluffy and sweet! I can’t get anything like it in Oklahoma, which is probably for the best. Not sure my butt would fit through the door if I had easy access to these cream filled delights!
Ahh, doughnuts. I live in So Cal, where Dunkin Donuts are no more. It is a tragedy, really. Oh sure, we have Krispy Kreme but, quite honestly, those are just not good. I love a good, cakey donut, with a healthy spread of yummy frosting. Maybe some sprinkles for good measure. What i really crave, tho, is a donut from my childhood. Dunkin Donuts and the chocolate cream donut. Oh man, I miss that donut. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I had one, but I will forever and ever crave it. In fact, I might be willing to plan my next vacation based on where a Dunkin Donuts actually is. That’s silly, of COURSE I’m willing to plan my vacation that way :)
Glad you are feeling better. I am quite a fan.
My favorite doughnut is the glazed! Great timing with this post. My husband and I were just discussing the cupcake craze and how there was a previous bagel and doughnut craze. He didn’t believe me that there was ever a trend for doughnuts so he smiled when I showed him your post ;)
My university boyfriend’s grandmother used to keep these amazing bakery donuts that were split and filled with light chocolate mousse. Oh, I wish I could have one now. I have no idea what bakery they came from, only that it was a town about two hours away from me.
When I broke up with the boyfriend I wished I could keep the Grandma….
I am soooooooooo glad that you are feeling better,, I was wondering last week where you were. Hope you start feeling even better this week and enjoy Easter with your family.
So I don’t usually like doughnuts…I think I’ve converted just by looking at those pictures. They look amazing! As do those necklaces…
I’m so glad you’re feeling better! One of the most interesting things about me? I met Bakerella at the Pioneer Woman’s lodge about a year ago and she taught me how to make cake pops! :-)
When I was pregnant with my twins, I had a weakness for maple-dipped donuts. When I was pregnant with my third, it was chocolate glazed!
love the necklace! also love unique donuts!
It’s the last month I’ve got until I graduate from law school and move cross-country to join my husband (who’s in his own grad school hell). My mom is coming to stay the weekend with me — she’ll probably want to spend it packing, but I’m hoping to distract us with a movie marathon. :-)
So glad you are feeling better! My favorite doughnut of all time is from a local baker called Dunford Bakery. They make the best chocolate cake doughnuts with chocolate icing. YUMMY!!!
Today’s favorite guilty pleasure was going to the bookstore with the husband and buying a bunch of books. Just because we wanted to read them. I hope they’re good reads…now, to find out.
I have always been a plain glazed or Boston Creme gal when it comes to donuts. I’m also 7.5 months pregnant, and now I want donuts. Thanks Bakerella!!
Something about me: I want a Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing right now.
Though I love baking, I have abstained from mit during week days for 3 weeks now and have dropped one dress size. I use running and workouts on bodyrock.tv to stay fit. Is that interesting enough?
Your website and your baking makes my day every time I read it. I am glad I found you and I am glad we are BFF’s ( you don’t know that we are, but we are ;) ) We also have a little something in common… I work for Southwest Transplant Alliance, the OPO in Dallas. I have gotten everyone in my office addicted to your site, not only because you are an amazing baker and food photographer but because you are a survivor! I love your story about being a kidney recipient. You are so very lucky to have a second chance at life!! God Bless you and your baking!!!
I will be so grateful to have both my children home for the Easter weekend. I love it when my chicks return to the nest!
OMG. That is a darling necklace. My daughter would love it! We’re thinking about having her an Alice in Wonderland party for her birthday, so it would make the best gift.
I am very jealous of all those yummy doughnuts. I was in Atlanta back to back weekends two weeks ago but didn’t see anything that yummy. When it comes to doughnuts, I’m usually a pretty simple gal…yeast doughnut with very little glaze. The yeastier the better! My favorites are at Donut Joe’s in Birmingham and the Donut Hole in Destin. Yummy!
I always wish that my cake balls and pops look half as good as yours, they always look a hot mess. But they taste good. When I grow up I want to be like you :-D
Cute necklace!!
MMMM, maple glazed donuts. :)
I love donuts! my favorite is dunkin’ donuts Choco Butternut Donuts. It has just the right amount of sweetness to it.
I tried Krispy Kreme though their donuts are great too! I found them much too sweet for my taste and I’ll always go back to my childhood favorite Dunkin’ Donuts!
Cute cute necklace! hope I get it :)
Ughh…messed up my own joke…here we go again…
KNOCK KNOCK….(who’s there)…DONUT….(donut who)….DONUT PASS ME BY…PICK ME, PICK ME!!! Happy Easter!!!
Most of the time I just enjoy a cinn/sugar yeast doughnut. Mmmm nothing better to me!
I haven’t eaten a doughnut in what seems like years, but when I do, I can’t resist the ones with raspberry filling!
Donuts are my weakness! My fave is a cake donut with chocolate icing and sprinkles. And anything with that fluffy sugar white stuff inside. Oh, yum!
This Easter I will be doing all the last minute things for my wedding because I get married the following Saturday!
I LOVE the necklace…I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I was getting worried!
Doughnuts are absolutely divine. My fave is a raspberry filled yeast doughnut. Deep fried goodness!!
I have a soft spot for the basic strawberry frosted donuts from DD. They remind me of childhood even if I have now decided they are better with coffee.
So glad to you are feeling better, I missed you!! You are such an inspiration to me. Love your sutff!!!!! Keep inspiring me. Happy Easter to you and your family.
Cute! Cute! Cute!
You’re awesome!! :)
I love love love cupcakes and collect any and all things cupcakes. I also like any doughnut except ones with filling – i just joined a gym today to kick this sweet tooth’s behind.
I miss doughnuts. My daughter is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts & eggs. I should really learn how to make a good old fashioned doughnut that would be safe for all of us to eat. Until then a necklace would be the 2nd best thing. ;)
Soooooo cute and delicious!!
Beautiful necklace!!
fingers crossed!!
I will be doing our family’s time honored tradition of making Pear Bunnies. So fun to make and to eat! :)
I worked in a doughnut shop growing up and hated the smell of doughnuts for many years.
I will be making your adorable chick cake pops with my 3 daughters for Easter. My oldest is addicted to your website and really wants to try some cake pops. So we will for Easter and display them at the Easter lunch we have with extended family.
You’re baaaacckkk!! Yippee! I’m actually sitting here watching Celebrity Apprentice with my youngest son (16). We make simple little bets as to who will be the next person fired, the team who will win, the weakest link…blah, blah, blah. But spending time with any of my kids is precious and I love it!!
Instead of telling you something about myself, I will tell you that I have a son with special needs. This son is almost 10 years old and has an obsession with donuts. He asked me to legally change him name to Dunkin’ Joenuts. “I’m serious, mom. Dead serious.” And he just loved looking at this post, with all the “DONUTS, MOM! THERE’S DONUTS!”
boston creme! yummy.
Love your blog :) I’m a college student who owns 35 pairs of shoes with a Star Trek guilty pleasure.
Also… those donuts are killin me right now…
Do you know how hard it is for me to get a donut? I live in way Northern Alberta Canada and we have two Tim Hortons and they are the only place with decent donuts and the wait in line there is either at least 15 cars at the drive through or the place is packed!! You don’t even try.
I love them. I REALLY love them and I don’t remember the last time I had one… sad.
Glad you are feeling better though, i’ve been checking to see your newest post and this ones a gooder! I’d love the win! Thanks!
Praying for you, Bakerella! I’m happy you are out of the hospital. My mom’s been there for the past couple of weeks. I’m sure she would love this necklace since she’s on liquids right now : )
I would love to try Carrot Cake donuts – do they make them? Glad you’re feeling better!
My favorite donut has got to be the sugar ones with filling in the center. Yum!
Hope you fell better!
Those donuts look amazing! I didn’t even know how great a donut could be until I started Weight Watchers and I realized each one was worth so many points!!! Now when someone brings a box into work, I really have to think twice. Not of that oreo donut was around though–I’d be all over that!
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity! What a cool necklace. I heart bear claws. (If you’re going to sin, sin boldly!)
KNOCK KNOW….(who’s there)….DONUT….(donut who) DONUT PASS ME BY….PICK ME, PICK ME!!! Happy Easter!!!
I’ve wanted to write so many times to tell you how much I love and look forward to your beautiful site! I am a personal chef and I’ve made several of your inspirations that people flip over! I too have been wondering where you are and I had to write tonight to tell you how much your story touched me. My daughter and her family moved to Ga. a couple of years ago, so I visit her as often as possible. She had a malignant brain tumor when she was 10, and another one when she was 20. She is a beautiful young wife and mom of two precious girls, so you can see why your story touched me! She, like you, cherishes life and seizes every moment! Thank you for being you and sharing yourself with us!!
Every Easter we get a butter lamb and I’m starting the tradition to slather cinnamon babka with it. Polish heritage FTW!
The best doughnut I’ve had was made by my friend’s RA, with the Pioneer Woman’s recipe. Delicious, and easy enough for college!
my name is Christine and I think you’re wonderful!!
I am a budding crafter and design nut!
When I was younger I would travel to Cancun with my family and when we would be on the beach early in the morning we would indulge in delightful homemade donuts brought hot to the beach by the local people. I was just telling this story to my bf on our first morning on a beach in Cabo San Lucas earlier this week. It is a very fond memory to me as my grandparents and mother have passed. Well once the sun came up we went to the breakfast buffet at our lovely hotel, RIU Palace Cabo, and low and behold here came a chef with a fresh, hot tray of these wonderful treats. I could have cried! AND they were as delicious as my memories! The perfect beginning to a great trip!
Glad to hear you are ok! I looked at your blog this morning and thought it curious it wasn’t updated. Get well soon!
Holly
I will have to make an excuse to lure my friend up to Atlanta with me, so we can have a detour at that lovely looking donut shop. :) The Oreo one looks just… amazing.
This Easter I’m surprising my parents and friends with easter baskets filled with yummy treats… and I’m going to try my hand at some cake pops. :D
Something about me . . . hmmm, I’m an ex-teacher brand new to being a stay-at-home mom now that we’ve welcomed baby number 3 to our family. And, my boys love trying to help me make cake pops on the days that I feel brave enough to attempt a baking project!
I have a thing about complex sandwiches with condiments. Not quite a phobia – but I find them to have a taste overload!
Love the necklace!
i think i shall decorate some cookies for easter!
Thx for sharing your sweet story.
I am too a doughnut lover! My fav is maple long john…what would do for one right now!!
(=
I have had a boyfriend for 7 1/2 years and can’t wait to bake your goodies for him when we move out into “our own” home. =]
I have this phobia against really sharp/pointy things! I have no clue as to why but I hate when someone puts the top of a lead pencil and points it towards me! Shivers~
I have never wanted donuts as bad as I do right now!
We have the best little donut shop here in Utah. It is called Beyond Glaze. They have the tastiest donuts, and they are adorable too!! If you’re ever in Utah, you must try them out!
Alisha P.
They look too good to be true! Glad you are up and running again!!
This easter I will be spreading mulch and making chick shaped cake pops to share with my boyfriend’s family!
One of my favorite things to do is bake and decorate cookies and cupcakes!!
SO CUTE! I just love orange cake doughnuts or really any doughnut.
We’ve missed you!!!!
Oh those all look soooo yummy! I think my fav donut is my MIL’s homemade cake donuts. I really need to get that recipe from her and try it myself one day since she doesn’t make them very often anymore.
im grateful for your website! i absolutley love it! hope you are feeling better!
i love the dulce de leche and the cream filled doughnuts..
Glad you are feeling better…my fav donut is blueberry cake
Oh no! I hope you’re feeling better now, I was getting worried.
Those are some crazy doughnuts. I’ve never been much of a doughnut person, but I might have to revise my opinion for those…
Something unusal about me… I have absolutely no sense of smell. More unusal is that despite this (and the link to taste) I still have the biggest sweet tooth known to mankind. Love all your baking ideas! :)
my favorite doughnut is a cake doughnut with chocolate icing. pretty plain jane. having family pictures made for easter!!!!
Favorite donuts are jelly, hands down!! After that maybe apple fritter…or cinnamon sugar…or glazed…..okay…I love them all!!!!
I LOVE maple-glazed donuts, but not really any other kind… except the HOT donuts you can get when you see the “hot donuts now” light on in Krispy Kreme.
I was thinking of you, by the way, walking down the “spinkles” aisle yesterday. How creepy am I!?
I am grateful that despite the battles they had to fight throughout our childhoods and teenage years, my parents forced my 2 sisters and I to spend time with each other and emphasized being a family. We are all grown now and I couldn’t be more grateful to know that family is family and we will always have each other’s backs.
Thanks for all your sweet goodies!!
My guilty pleasures are Red Velvet Cupcakes and Creme Brulee. I didn’t develop such a sweet tooth until I met my boyfriend who loves sweets. I have made him so many goodies from your blog. haha
There are too many doughnuts that I love. Sprinkled are a classic along with glazed. But in Detroit there is a big Polish population and every fat Tuesday we eat Paczkis (pronounced like pun-sh-ki). This year was my first year without one since I moved to south estern Virginia! Those are always good, just really bad for you!
I am 25 years old and I still rather enjoy climbing trees and hanging upside down from them. Now you know something silly and interesting about me!
Love your site! Glad you’re better!
I want to be the best mom I can be for my 3 little miracles. My husband and I waited years for children and now we have 3 in 2 years and I want as many as we can get. I also want to be the wife my husband deserves because he is simply amazing.
Shiinnnyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and so cute!
Don’t they say that women are attracted to shiny things? This oh so validates it. That pendant just had me riveted. ^__^
I have a friend in Decatur that I’ll be sharing this post with. I don’t know how far Sublime would be from where she is, but I hope she gets to try some if she hasn’t yet. And I am wishing so hard I could actually be there with her for some girl time (a.k.a. stuffing our faces with doughnuts).
This easter I am going home from Baylor with one of my closest friends from Easter. I can’t wait to see my momma and let Rachel meet my family and friends. :)
My family and I are going to a Blues Brothers revival on Sunday. I’m super excited!
Sorry to hear you were ill, but I’m glad that you are better!
Your post made me want a doughnut NOW!!!! LOL. Oh my gosh, all those delightful photos. Would love to win the necklace, so cute. My Favorite is a Maple Bar or a raspberry filled doughnut.
My passion in life is creating cards thus my screen name of KreatesKards.
Adorable donut necklace!
Something about myself? Let’s keep this donut related OK?
My fav flavor is any flavor of Timbits (donut holes from Tim Horton’s…picture a donut in the shape of a cake pop without the stick)
I am grateful for Tim Horton’s (donut and coffee chain up here in Canada)
This Easter I’ll be stopping at a Tim Horton’s if we pass one for a donut.
Unusual talent of mine? I can stuff 3 Timbits into my mouth at the same time.
How many shoes do I have? Who can see their shoes with all these Timbits in my diet?
Phobia…donuts without holes kind of freak me out. They need a new name cuz they’re not really donuts now are they?
Fav guilty pleasure? Um, see above.
I need this necklace! Please pick me!
I loooove custard filled donuts but the ones you just shared all look a-ma-zing! Esp the “oreo donut!”
I want to win that necklace! :) I am grateful for springtime!
My favorite doughnut (currently) is the buttermilk bar, although my husband always buys me an old fashioned because he thinks I like those best.
This Easter will include church for the first time since last Easter, family brunch, boyfriend’s dad’s birthday, and family dinner!
So glad to see you are feeling better! I read the post you linked to and am glad to see that a generous person saved your life. I understand how your conditions make it harder to recover from illness. My little 6 year-old cousin has juvenile diabetes (was diagnosed at 3), and is always suffering from colds and fevers (among other things), due to the fact that his body just isn’t as healthy as we would like. It is tough to be sick in the first place, let alone longer than most! So I’m glad you are getting over whatever you had to deal with.
I LOVE the necklace you found! I’m not usually a fan of “foodie” jewelry, no matter how cute it can be, but this one I would love to wear! You are awesome for sharing!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with next, and take care!
I love to sing! This Easter I’m probably baking. My favorite doughnut flavor is creme filled chocolate, but the oreo one looks awesome!
I’m thankful for the warm weather forecasted for Easter weekend. We’re going to have the best egg hunt EVER!!!
Glad to hear you’re feeling better!
I am grateful to be starting a new job next week!
And I’d love if someone would bring me some doughnuts for my first day! Those look delicious!
candi2001@hotmail.com
Every morning on the way to school in 7th grade we’d catch the bus by the doughnut shop! My STILL all time fave (which is SO HARD TO FIND) is a chocolate cake doughnut with chocolate icing and coconut sprinkles. OMG Heaven!!!!
I love Krispy Kreme plain glazed right off the fryer when the light is on….yum.
so Cute! I love doughnuts too! In fact it is a family tradition to be nuts about doughnuts!
I love the plain glazed doughnuts! But probably wouldn’t turn any kind of doughnut down!
I am grateful for recovery. I have finally gotten onto solid ground and gained 60 days of sobriety from my addiction. I would also be very greatful for those donuts, which is something I never thought i would say =)
Hi Bakerella~~~ So sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well, but happy to have you back!! This doughtnut post was AMAJING it made me drooly all over!! One quick fact about me…I’m a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do :)
I joined Roller Derby because the gym was too boring.
I donate blood.
I’m scared of clowns.
I love your blog!
For Easter I am working like crazy since I am a pastor in Chicago. However, the minute I lock up those doors, my family is heading out for an AMAZING brunch- complete with a room entirely devoted to dessert. YUM!
