Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
looks amazing!
fave flavour: simple chocolate covered donut :P
So cute! My favorite doughnut is the maple bar? Does that even count as a doughnut? Sure it does.
I am grateful to be spending another easter with our family here in Guam. One more year till we get stationed at another base. :(
must admit, my favorite donught is the plain and simple old fashioned donught…as long as I have a tall glass of milk with me. -thanks so much for all you do, and hope your well soon!
Ohhh those donuts look so delicious!! My favorite donut has to be good old fashioned chocolate creme filled.
I would love to win that necklace, its gorgeous!
I am very sorry that you have been in the hospital recently but its so great that you are on the road to recovery. I have been dying to go to VooDoo donuts and try some of their crazy flavors, unfortunately they are completely on the other side of the country.
i’m glad ur better! i kept checking the site and figured u were busy with ur book. i had no idea u’ve had transplants. i would hug now if i could! i dont care about the giveaway, thats not y im commenting. i really hope u dont sick again becausei know it sucks. i’m a med student and know what ppl go thru! i hope u feel ah-mazing!
oooh! that Red Velvet donut looks amazing!!! I’m going to have to make a special trip to Atlanta just to try it! .. and now I’m hungry…lol…off to the kitchen! :) thanks for the chance to win this cute necklace! Hope you’re back to 100% soon!
Once when my brother was in the hospital ( nothing life threatening), there were these amazing donuts in the cafeteria of all places….it was a krispy creme….but the best part was there were crushed whoppers on top! Most sweets do not get to me…exept donuts…so I understood this post:) Tomorrow is my birthday and my aunt sent me a card shaped like a donut! The craving started instantly:) I love your website!
I love this little necklace. It makes me smile. My very favorite donut is a classic cake with white icing and sprinkles. But honestly I’m not sure I’ve met a donut I didn’t like. Except anything with custard in it. That’s a custard thing, not a donut thing.
Here’s a secret…doughnuts make me gag unless I’m pregnant. This hasn’t always been true though but with my last pregnancy I ate so many doughnuts that I think I overwhelmed my body. If someone brings them to my bible study I’ll take a bite but that’s all I can handle. A couple weeks ago I thought I might be pregnant but I didn’t want to take a pregnancy test because it was a bit too soon to know for sure and I hate spending money on them so instead….I went and bought a doughnut…it made me gag…2 days later my visitor arrived. But if I had a cute little doughnut necklace it would remind me of my little boy who made me crave doughnuts for 9 months!
i’m canadian so, for me, there’s nothing like a simple maple glazed donut from tim horton’s. mmmm…simply divine. and certainly worth a day trip up north if you’re close enough to the border:)
What a fun necklace! My favorite donuts are hot glazed Krispy Kremes! Those are making me want to drive down to Atlanta on a donut road trip though!!
i like all donuts and my hips and butt can testify to that…
but my fav brings back many childhood memories…old fashion donuts.
i have two adopted children one who has been diagnosed with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder… (don’t drink for nine months please! trying to get the message out there!)
i love shoes and purses
seasons!
and i’m about to go eat a bowl of blue bell ice cream with oreos!
I will now be having a boston cream doughnut for breakfast. Can’t wait!
I’m glad you are better. I’m sure my grandaughter would like the necklace.
I love doughnuts – but there is no doughnut shop where I live :(
This Easter, I’m going to my sister’s wedding. She has asked me to bake cupcakes for the wedding – 120 of them. The wedding is 5 hours drive away. Oh joy.
Happy Easter Bakerella!
This Easter Sunday is also mine and my husband’s 12th Wedding Anniversary. No plans yet, other than Easter dinner at his mom’s. We have 3 girls. I got the anniversary present I wanted….we just booked a trip to Disney! Can’t wait!!
I love the necklace! And the donuts look amazing! I am partial to the maple bar but I do have a weak spot for chocolate cake donuts. I just can’t resist… I see one and I have to eat it!
I’m grateful for the kidney my mother-in-law gave my husband and the three kids I have to remember him by as a result of her gift. Everybody please sign up to be a donor. deb
I have no children but I have three dogs who I absolutely adore. I believe that I have separation anxiety because I can’t stand to be away from them for long!
Oh, hands down Boston cream.
This post made me crave a doughnut so badly. Although I generally only get doughnuts during breaks on long drives.
OMG. I am a HUGE Krispy Kreme fan. But my butt isn’t. However, my favorite flavor (besides the glazed KK variety) is Apple Cider. So good with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar. Hope you are feeling better and are quickly on the mend.
something about me: I can’t get enough of strawberry with vanilla frosting cake pops. They are the best! Thanks for getting me started on them. Everyone I know loves them!!!
i LOVE that necklace! my favorite donuts aren’t really donuts….they kinda are. they’re called brown bobbies. they are triangular in shape with a triangular hole in the middle. my grandpa used to make them at every family gathering. i miss grandpa and i miss the brown bobbies!
I have never flown and I will be going to Las Vegas in 2 weeks- how is that for a first plane flight?!! Glad you are feeling better
Glad you are feeling better and posting again! I recently discovered a coconut creme donut that is yummy!
So glad you are better. I am thankful this Easter for my own good health and that of my family. Can’t wait to try one of those delicious treats next time I am in Atlanta.
i can lick my elbow! :)
Well i say the A is for Angie Dudley ;)
Hehe. I hope you’re well now, Bakerella! Please take care of yourself and don’t exert yourself too much, get plenty of fluids and rest! Know that all of us readers are sending you our love (:
I haven’t tried these Sublime donuts yet but I think I’ll need to drive to ATL to try them :-) If you are ever in Cumming, try the donuts from the Dutch Monkey, across from the Avenue at Forsyth.
Super cute necklace!
We’ll be spending Easter at my moms. I’ll be bringing the desert. :)
OMG-I want those doughnuts! & I want that necklace! Just started following you today. I had been checking out your cake pops & may try them for my daughter’s pre-K class for Easter. I’ve already found the bunny corn at Big Lots!
While I’m a sucker for Krispy Kreme and Voodoo Donuts, I reall must find a way to get to Atlanta to try those!
Favorite Doughnut – lemon filled
Easter – going to my folks (I’m baking, big surprise…)
I can wiggle my ears.
Too many shoes.
See aforementioned doughnuts for guilty pleasure
…and… I am so grateful for my incredible family and friends. I am a truly lucky woman!
Today (3-28) is my birthday and my favorite gift was my 5 year old son waking me by singing Happy Birthday. Motherhood pays off in small ways;)
Feel better!
Glad you are felling better!
I am not usually a big fan of donutes UNLESS they are from Maple Donuts in the York PA. area. They are the best donuts ever and I think it has something to do with potato flour.
I love that necklace but I also LOVE to bake. I wish I had more time. I also have a book coming out this year!! That’s why I have NO time.
I’m so happy you are feeling better – we were worried.
CIndy
Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya… you ki… uh… wait, that’s not me. MY name is Diane and I am a donutandcupcakeandallthingsbaked-aholic. Pleased to meet you!
Oh, and I’m glad you’re feeling better!
Something about me…I would LOVE to dive into that Oreo doughnut above, but I’ve been allergic to chocolate for the past 10 yrs. : (
Glad to hear you are back on your feet! My favorite donut is the Apple Fritter. Served with a cinnamon latté and I’m in heaven. Thanks for the splendid giveaway. Cheers!
pink ftw!
my favorite doughnut would be the andagi (okinawan doughnut)
so good :)
I am grateful for mothers. Last Sunday I found out I had an ectopic pregnancy. I had to have emergency surgery Monday morning. By Monday afternoon my Mom had flown into town to help with my two year old son while my husband went to school & I recovered. It doesn’t matter how old you get your mom will always be you mom.
I’m also grateful for mini cadbury eggs!
Oh man, I want to try some of those doughnuts! I’m sure I would love them. My old favorite is a creme filled powdered sugar doughnut… sugar overload.
Wow those doughnuts look delicious and the necklace looks sweet too.
I’m so thankful I was able to cook for my family for an entire week…I JUST LOVE TO COOK AND BAKE!!
Happy Easter to you!
Glad to hear you’re doing ok, I was worried. I am grateful for two healthy boys ages 3 & 5. I could my blessings daily.
OH MY GOSH… Now THOSE are doughnuts!!! WOW… I NEED to have that Peanut Butter cup on… wowzer… of course I wouldnt mind the toffee one either! Did I mention my mouth dropped when I saw the Oreo one?
Ok enought about doughnuts… they are all my fav… although never really took to jelly filled!
Anyway… Love your site, love the pops… love the necklace… and glad you are feeling better!
I absolutely love sugar doughnuts, they’re my favorite even over glazed donuts.
Sweet 16 Chocolate Frosted covered donuts. YUM!
That is the cutest necklace I’ve ever seen! I live for Krispy Kreme doughnuts!! Something about myself: I graduate college this June!
Dear Bakerella,
I’m living abroad so I’m going to celebrate Easter all by myself. I am a patisserie student and doughnuts are one off my favorite things to do and eat. What amazing shapes you’ve show us.
Happy Easter!!!
Love Easter! My son was born last year one day after. This will be his first outside belly:)
So happy you’re feeling better. I thought you may have been busy with your book.
My favorite doughnut is a peanut square (a square pastry with whipped cream filling, chocolate glaze and chopped peanuts on top). I haven’t had one in years because I moved away (probably why I’m still alive and under 200 lbs.)
I hope you feel better! I can’t wait for Easter.
OH MY GOODNESS – I ADOOOOORE Sublime! They had a strawberry cream one when we were in that was to die for.
We’re 3 hours away from the store and I totally want to go back for more!! :)
Pink donut! Perfect! Haven’t had a donut in so long…this would work with out the calories! :)
Favorite donuts: timbits! If ever in Canada go to tim hortens and try them!
I like chocolate cake donuts! They aren’t quite too sweet like other donuts, meaning I can eat more than I probably should!
I am salivating over that mocha donut – looks delish! Hope you’re feeling better!
I love the necklace. I am so grateful for the wonderful relationship I have with my daughter. If I get the necklace, it goes to her!
Voodoo Doughnuts if you find yourself in Portland. Hour-long line, but the bacon-maple is fun. My favorite is the Grape Ape doughnut.
My favorite donut is definitely a buttermilk bar, nothing fancy. I’m glad your feeling better. I’m grateful for that!
oh my god, GORGEOUS!
I would tell you what I’m doing this easter, but I honestly have no clue when easter is…. Sunday? If so, I’m going to be hiking in the mountains and sleeping under the stars! sigh, I can’t wait!
To be honest, I would usually choose a chocolate chip cookie over a doughnut but your post made me wonder why I would do such an awful thing- I promise I will convert, and that necklace will prove my commitment.
I’m not a huge fan of donuts…we have a bakery nearby but I don’t think she has donuts? I would love to try to make donuts though….maybe that will be my next adventure once my baby feels better! too hard to experiment w/a sick baby!
glad you’re feeling better :)
My favorite donuts are the ones I make at home on the rare weekend days I don’t work. I cheat on my donuts and they are DELICIOUS. My mom always made canned biscuit donuts when I was growing up and I have continued the tradition, just with bigger and better biscuits! I don’t have a donut cutter, so I use a tiny shot glass to punch a hole out of the middle of a biscuit and fry those suckers in peanut oil. Add a little vanilla glaze or chocolate frosting and you’re good to go. Mmm… donuts.
Ok something about myself, I have three kids! My favorite doughnut is fresh, I like all of them! I am grateful for my health, family, that I have a job, cake pops, boy the list goes on and on. We are going to celebrate Easter early and have an egg hunt with family. It should be great, would you like to come? Now for my unusual talent, well…… I can roll my tongue like a wave, does that count? How many pair of shoes you own? I have way toooooo many to count. I have a fear of heights.
Speaking of doughnuts, I just found a new doughnut shop in Cumming, GA. They have such unique flavors, and sooo yummy. The name is dutch monkey doughnuts. If you are ever in the area you should definitely try it.
I love apple fritters. I have one every Sunday when i grab my coffee from Tim Hortons after my long training runs as I get ready for my first half marathon.
I discovered your blog through a friend of mine recently and I’m OBSESSED. We went to Cake Art last week, and I’m in love. I took a cake decorating class a few months ago and I love it! Next stop on the Bakerella tour: Sublime Doughnuts.
This Easter, Im making and sending the pikachu peep pops to an old friend. Then surprising my husband with some homemade donuts :]
Those necklaces are so cute, and the donutes look wonderful, I really wish there was one around here so we could try one!!
Glad you’re feeling better! The necklace??? Adorable!
Boston Cream. YUMMMMMMMM.
Wow, those donuts look really good! There’s a local donut place near my house that sells Peanut-Butter banana donuts, which are pretty tasty. But I think my favorite is still the chocolate devil’s food donut from Krispy Kreme. They’re just so deeply chocolaty, I adore them!
Hi! I have many things to be grateful, but one is my grandmother she was the best friend that i have, she was very very special and she past away last week, I’m really going to miss her, but I know shes going to be in a good place now, and my other good reason to be grateful are my 2 daughters, next Sunday I’m going to celebrate my baby daughter first year and I’m going to try to make her cake, I really like your page and I’m going to try to make cake pops shaped as Minnie Mouse.
Apple fritters are my downfall ( although I there was a dunkin donuts near here I would eat a toasted coconut one in a heartbeat). I think those chocolate wild berry fritters look Amazing!!!!
I love doughnuts, just not for breakfast…I can only eat them at night…weird I know…SO GLAD YOUR FEELING BETTER!
I could eat doughnuts everyday and never get sick of them! YUMMMMY! Around my neck of the woods (oklahoma) we dont get all the awesome flavors.
I love a doughnut with a maple syrup topping! Especially the one from Tim Horton’s.
Ahhh! Those donuts look so good. But the most thing I’m grateful for is my extended family, without them I’d be nothing!
That necklace is so cute!
I love to bake and cook and am so thankful for talented bloggers who open me up to brand new unique ideas!
Thank you!
First, I am glad you are feeling better and hope you continue to recover quickly. Organ donation is a beautiful thing, period. Secondly, I love this necklace! That might be the cutest thing I have seen in quite some time!
MMMM I need a doughnut! Mine would have to be plain glazed… or maybe strawberry filled… or oh man! I need to talk about something else!
Thank you so much for sharing your story!
I served cupcakes at my wedding and they were a huge hit – my favorite doughnut is one with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.
Wow! I just found your website today and am totally blown away. Thanks for such a great site! On the rare occassion I have a donut I love the chocolate cake ones from Krisy Kreme.
I’m so glad you are better!!!! you’re amazing and stay healthy!!!
I love sweets, pretty much all sweets and I think I’ve died and gone to heaven just reading this. Those look absolutely heavenly!
Easter: We’re having my parents over. My 7 year old loves Diary of a Wimpy Kid so I bought him the first book, a t-shirt and tix to see the movie for his basket. I might be more excited then he will be!
I had to give up Doughnuts (high cholesterol) so when I was pregnant last year and told to skip the diet I went straight back to my Maple Frosted. Ooooh Maple Frosted cake pops!! It is Maple Sugar Sunday in Maine after all!
Oh Lord have mercy!! When we saw this, our mouths were literally watering! We love donuts! I work at Starbucks and whenever I bring home a donut for her, she goes crazy!! Plain glazed cake donuts are the best. Mmmmm!!
This Easter I will be spending the day with my husband and good friends.
Can I give you a FEW things about me?
I’m shaving my head to help to raise money for children’s cancer research. You don’t have to go here, but here’s my page: https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/divinemrsd
I’ve also bungee jumped in Macau, which is the world’s highest bungee jump.
And I love Boston Creme donuts!! Sorry for the novel :) I hope that you’re feeling better!!
Hope you are feeling better soon! My favorite doughnut flavor is plain old chocolate covered. yum! :)
What a great post. I love donuts…wish I had some. Let’s see…yesterday I bought 10 boxes of Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal for $1.90 TOTAL!!! That’s less than 20 cents a box! It was a freak combination of coupons, sales, and an in-store promotion.
bakerella- glad to hear you’re feeling better, we did miss you last week! i am heading to atlanta in two days, and i’m thinking i have got to get my hands on these sublime donuts! they look amazing. donuts always remind me of church with my family on sundays, my favorite was always blueberry or bavarian cream with powdered sugar. mmmm donuts…
I was starting to feel a little stalker-ish when your post hadn’t been updated for a few days. I am so sorry you were sick and glad you are well enough to post some doughnuts jewelry. I am sure we will all feel better because of it!
For Easter…watching a special two-day religious instructional meeting called General Conference from my church, which happens every six months. It’s fun that it happens to fall on Easter as it will no doubt include several talks about the Savior during this special time of year! It will run all day Saturday and Sunday on http://www.lds.org. Hopefully, some Oreo Truffles will also make their way into my weekend. I can’t gain five pounds without them!
What a cute little necklace! Does it come with a box of those doughnuts too? They look fantastic!
My favorite kind of doughnut is any with chocolate! I am grateful for my son and this year we will be doing the Easter bunny for the first time, I’m pretty excited to see how he’ll react, although he is 18 months so he still might not get the whole presents thing.
I absolutely LOVE that necklace!
Hmmm, favorite doughnut? I’d have to say chocolate crème!https://www.bakerella.com/wp-content/themes/bakerella/images/btn-submit.gif
Please tell me how to store my cake pops! I had to make them today for next weekend. Was your freezing experiment a success??
P.S. Hope you feel better!
Something about myself? Well, next time I’m in Atlanta I want to hunt down your doughnut shop.
My unusual talent is puppetry. I’m a pro. Strange skill, but there ya go.
wow! those look A-MAZING!! I haven’t had a doughnut in over a year!(i’ve been living in India…) but when i get back home I am going straight to Sunkist Bakery(THE BEST bakery in my town) and getting a cream filled long john. :D
I have two kids, six cats, one puppy and a pretty big hankering for donuts right about now…
those doughnuts look amazing. i really want the orange star! yum! my favorite doughnut is good old reliable jelly from DD.
I am having Easter dinner with dear friends and I get to bring the desserts…planning on a yummy lemon layer cake with lemon curd filling and cream cheese icing. Maybe some chocolate fudge coconut cupcakes too and of course, Easter cookie bags for everyone!
I was worried about you and am so glad to hear you are feeling better. I love this site and look forward to your posts.
Please stay well!!
Something about me? I am obsessed with all things vintage. I’m currently on a hunt for a decent vintage typewriter that is somewhere in my price range — which right now, is super low. And of course, my girlish side demands that it has to be a pastel color!
*sigh* I’ve just started Weight Watchers, but now I’m thinking of starting my own “Doughnut Watchers”. :)
Why cant there be annything close to those things where I am…then again that could be a bad situation!!
Ooooo! Doughnuts are my weakness. I may have to talk my husband into stopping at that doughnut shop when we move north in a couple of months…
plain glazed is my favorite. simple and sweet. :)
I really look forward to reading this blog after a really long hard day at work. I’m so glad you are feeling better and back to posting. I will probably be at work this Easter wishing I was at home. I totally just bought a parafin wax thingamajig so help get rid of my dry skin hands to welcome spring…how pretty would a doughnut necklace be to go with pretty pink polished finger? EXTREMELY CUTE!!!

Favorite Guilty Pleasure: Waffles with peanut butter and honey, ice cream and chocolate sauce – all in one little waffle sandwich.
I am going to NY for the first time on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fact about me: I’m now craving doughnuts. Though I could eat the dozen, my diet suggests that I get the necklace and skip the calories. :)
What can I say about doughnuts…..I LOVE them all!
I’m a simple girl when it comes to doughnuts. I like glazed crullers or plain chocolate cake doughnuts.
My favorite pair of shoes are fuchsia pink 4-inch heels, that unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your height) make me over 6 foot 2 inches.
I love cupcakes, and I LOOOVE that necklace!
If you’re ever in Portland, Oregon you should check out Voodoo Donuts. They’ve got some crazy flavors. Yum! I love cake donuts or frosting filled donuts the best. And if its got sprinkles, even better! ^-^
I love plain old fashioned doughnuts.
I’ve never had a bad chocolate glazed dough nut!
I am pregnant with baby #4 and for the first time, have gestational diabetes. I come to your website daily and drool over the lovely things you make even though not a single bit can go in my mouth. I miss good food, I miss good baked goods, I miss sugar. But a little doughnut on a chain might make it alright.
:)
VickiS
I’m glad you’re feeling better! I LOVE the doughnut necklace! What is it about tiny, bejeweled food that is so appealing?!
I just ate three different kinds of brownies and made myself sick…and yet… after looking at those doughnuts I’m trying to think about how soon I can get down to visit my “skinny sister” in Atlanta and make her gain a couple pounds with me!
Those doughnuts look amazing. My favourite flavour has got to be Honey Dipped or Boston Creme (I know, pretty plain and common) but the S’more one in your pictures from Sublime looks…. sublime! Do they ship to Toronto? Mmmm. Hope so.
Hope you’re feeling better! This weekend I created an almond paste explosion in the kitchen. The only thing better than creating something is, sigh, creating something that actually looks good….maybe next time.
I’ll tell you a couple things!
1 – I LOVE donuts!! Almost more than my husband & daughter and I love them to the moon and back :)
2 – Congrats on your kidney transplant! I worked for a transplant center, in the lab. It was a very rewarding job. I’m glad you are feeling better.
Wow! I’m glad your better! I check your blog every morning as a little pick me up, because lately I’m so tired in the mornings. I missed you!!! I want to come all the way from Texas over to Georgia just for a donut now. I want to win it’s such a good representation of me I love all things sweet! If it weren’t for calories I’d just make a meal of different desserts. Have a good week!
I’m a classic donut lover… chocolate donut with chocolate glaze. It’s simple and delicious!
That Oreo donut looks indecently yummy.
I loveeee Sublime Doughnuts and I’m so lucky that I live in Atlanta, like a 15 minute walk from the shop! :)
My favorite doughnut is Boston Cream! And my favorite guilty pleasure is, of course, doughnuts. And sparkling Swarovski necklaces. :D
wonderful story you shared with us! I love Krispy Kremes…my car automatically goes for the drive-thru without my having to guide it there. Yummy!
mmm i love doughnuts. an odd eating habit of mine is that i get hungry within two hours, no matter how much i just ate.. it’s a little weird
I dream about doughnuts at our house. It’s just not possible with my Gluten Free family. I can’t even pop into the local bakery for one when I have nothing to offer the little ones with me. This post has me DROOLING!
So glad you are feeling better! Those donuts looks absolutely delish!! Have a blessed Easter!
I Love pink! and the maple bacon bar and Mexican Hot Chocolate donut from VooDoo Donuts in Portland… yum…
Ooooohhhh….those are “A”dorable! Thankfully, I live at least an hour away from the nearest doughnut or I’d look like one. Yum!
the oreo cookies in cream is my favorite ice cream so me seeing a donught like equals double drool!
hmm something random.. well i am diing to get my acceptance letter from the savannah college of art and design. :D cute guys there .. but mostly because i wana major in fashion design
I am feeling very blessed this day and looking forward to making decorated sugar cookies for the Easter weekend!
Bakerella I was wondering where had you been!! Something was missing this week in my life, your post!! I thing I visited your blog the past week at least two times per day waiting for your weekly writing and baking. Well it is nice to see you back, I hope you feel much better. Talking about doughnuts mm the last time I had one was a Krispy Kreme and I was with my husband and my baby boy (2 months old back then!!) We haven’t been together ever since :( But there are many new memories I’d like to make, definitely I’ll have to introduce my year old son to the doughnut world…Send you a hug, get well soon, and hope to hear from you again (a new post and cookbook update would be great!).
What a cute neclace. Glad you are feeling better.
so precious! and, now i need to order some donuts!!!
hope you are feeling better!
i’m a psychology major… but after i finish my Phd i want to buy a bakery and make cakes :D
I so wish I could have one of the Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing donuts right now ~ yummy to my tummy!! Actually I would love to have any one of them!! And that necklace? Seriously couldn’t get any cuter!!! Love it!!
I have a confession to make:
I wish donuts were a food group and didn’t make my rear end bigger…
I havvvve 12 pairs of shoes? Obviously not enough!
I don’t live anywhere near Sublime either, we don’t have krispy kreme here, we have Tim Hortons and another chain that don’t make the greatest donuts, so I make my own. Although the mini donuts at the ex are really good and that’s coming up soon! Love your donut necklace!
Um… yum… this post is killing my diet :-) My favorite donut is a maple bar YUM!
That is the cutest necklace ever! Let’s see. About me–My favorite doughnut flavor is the cream filled chocolate glazed kind. And this Easter I will be serving up coffee in the cafe of the bookstore I work for.
That necklace is too cute!!! A truly good doughnut is decadent, but living in a mid-sized town, it’s not an indulgence I get to enjoy often. But the doughnuts can’t have filling. Yuck! It ruins the flavor!
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I really enjoy reading your blog.
Amanda
I love Apple Fritters…and yes, I capitalize them, because if you get a good one, it deserves the capital letters…
My favorite donuts are Krispy Kreme glazed and Dunkin’ Donuts Heath bar.
I love jewelry with random objects.
Hope you are feeling better! Have you ever tried the Donut Plant in NYC? Super yummy, but you have to get there early before they run out! Then when you need a break from the sugar coma, walk a few blocks to the original Pickle Guys for the most awesome garlic pickles!
My favorite donuts are the ones my family makes every Holy Saturday. I don’t know the original name but we call them German Donuts and my mother says they have been made every Easter in her family for four generations at least. They have a hint of lemon and are deep fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar. They are sublime…
I am trying my best to do Weight Watchers right now ..so this necklace would be alot better on my waistline. Ohh but how my heart wants a box of those doughnuts !!!!
Plain glazed Krispy Kreme is my absolute favorite. Thanks for the chance to win!
OMG I WANT THAT NECKLACE!! haha
For Easter I will be at Angels Stadium for Saddleback’s service, oh and the Jonas Brothers will be there… lol I am gonna go for God XD
i love sparkly doughnut shaped necklaces!!!
the end.
Easter is at my house this year … and I might just have to serve donuts. Glad you are feeling better.
My favorite doughnut is… sorry can’t just say one! I have three 1st & fore most is the Raspberry filled doughnut mmm…so good 2ndly is the Long John w/nuts, & 3rdly is the glaceed but only if it’s freshly out of the fryer.
I’ll tell u a secret (which of course won’t be a secret anymore) after the passing of my husband (which I took really hard) I was looking for a way to do a special something w/my kids. And what we started doing was doing a Doughnut Run, we would go late at night after everyone was asleep I would text them & we would all sneak out for our famous Doughnut Run!! Miss that, now that the kids are older.
I love your blog! Now I’m hooked — I just don’t know what to try first!! Thanks for the great ideas!
Please do nut miss my entry. Thanks, Bakerella and glad you are feeling better.
Cute! My…well, not quite a phobia, but I don’t like to touch cotton. It makes my teeth hurt and gives me goosebumps.
Well, I was thinking about chocolate covered Peeps for Easter, but now you’ve got me thinking about donuts! Love me a double chocolate donut, or a French cruller, or a maple glazed. But, every once in a while, a simple glazed donut or even a plain donut just hits the spot with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Yum! I think I may be hitting the donut shop on the way to work tomorrow. Too bad Atlanta is so far away!
Get well soon! I was too wondering if you were ok. Love it!
Those are so cute! We are heading to Nana’s house for Easter, hope the Easter bunny finds the way!
Hope you continue to feel better. I know just the Krispy Kreme fan who would love a donut to wear.
Cute necklace! My favourite donuts are just the plain kind with chocolate frosting.
I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better! Those donuts look amazing! My favorite donut flavor is Boston cream.
Cuuute necklace!! Donuts with sprinkles are my faves…come to think of it, anything with sprinkles lands on my “favorite things” list. Glad you are feeling better! :)
I’ve never met as doughnut I didn’t like.
I gave up sweets for Lent and seeing those donuts is really testing any restraint I have left! I’m looking forward to Easter and finally enjoying some sweet delights.
Donuts=Bingo in my mind. When I was in day care, we’d have bingo days every so often. They’d get the whole center in the lunch room, and we’d play bingo and eat donuts. Bingo days were always my favorite!
A chocolate wild berry fritter and sparkly donut jewelry? I’m drooling like Homer Simpson over here!
I have the biggest fear of heights! I get weak kneed watching other people go out on balconies. My sister used to torture me with it when we were little. She’d walk out on the ledge over our stairway and lean….I’m getting queasy just thinking about it 20 years later!
My favorite kind of donut is a Bavarian Creme chocolate-covered long john.
We used to go out after church every week and get donuts. So I totally blame my mother for my addiction. :)
Favorite flavor doughnut? I’ve always been quite fond of the chocolate iced long john. This post makes me wish I had doughnuts right now!
Glad to see you are on the mend. I would encourage everyone to be an organ donor. My husband and I both made the decision to donate our organs. It is nice to know that if anything happened to us, it would help someone else live.
Feel better!
The combination of those pictures and the smell of the Guinness stout chocolate cake I have in the oven are making me salivate. yum!!! Glad you’re feeling better!
The deadline for this giveaway is my 8th wedding anniversary!
Glad you are feeling better!
My favorite doughnuts are the cinnamon-sugar ones that were made many years ago at the Little Oktoberfest on the Munich, Germany, army base. Alas the base is shut down and the Little O’Fest is long gone. But I still remember those doughnuts with much love.
I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better! Those doughnuts looks amazing! Hopefully I can visit Atlanta sometime soon to try them out!
The smores and A-town Cream look absolutely delicious!
I make doughnuts for a crowd the “semi-homemade” way. I use canned biscuits (buttermilk, NOT flaky)– cut out center, deep fry and dip in decadent homemade chocolate ganache. Add seasonal sprinkles and crowds go wild! Thanks for the give-aways!
Well, I love all do-nut flavors.
Holy Cuteness!! Who knew such cute little morsels could be made?? Pick Me! Pick Me!!
We (kids, spouse, and I) are spending Easter with my parents, my brother and my very best friend and her two kids. Haven’t gotten to spend as much time with her as I’d like and I’m SO very excited that she’ll be joining us!! Wish we were having some of those donuts :)
I have a confession to make. I love doughnuts with a nice hot cup of coffee with cream and a tiny bit of sweetener. Not dessert coffee, real coffee. And..if I wear a doughnut around my neck, then I can quit wearing them around my hips! Love your blog!
Something about me? Today we celebrated my youngest daughter’s fourth birthday…she received a bike! She was so excited.
Mmmm, I may have to order some for myself. And that necklace is adorable!
My favorite donuts come from The Donut Stop in Canyon/Amarillo TX. Their Cherry iced and donut holes are the best!
Here’s something you probably haven’t heard before. When I get the hiccups they can be pretty violent. I have tried everything from sugar on the tongue, drinking water, holding my breath. Nothing has worked. One day several years ago I had a particularly nasty case of hiccups just as I was leaving for work. My husband grabbed me and kissed me good bye and a couple of moments later I realized my hiccups were gone! So now every time I get the hiccups hubby comes and kisses me and they go away. Even if we aren’t in the same place all he has to do is tell me over the phone to close my eyes and imagine he is kissing me.
Hmmm… maybe that’s a bit too TMI.
Plain glazed crispy cremes rock.
My most favourite doughnut is my mum’s homemade sugar sprinkle doughnut but if store bought doughnut, chocolate topping with strawberry cream is my favourite.
I am boring I know, but my favorite donut is a plain old glazed, they are the best.
word up…..I really like the necklace. My wife is the director of marketing for a large Houston-based donut chain. Oh and she’s pregnant too. This necklace would make the perfect push present….hook a brother up. Wish me luck!
Frank
Last Easter you inspired me to make my first Cake Pops since my grandmother, who is a professional cake maker, was going to be joining us for the holiday. We made carrot cake cake pops shaped like carrots….but mostly they ended up in blobs. I’m still working on my technique but in the mean time I’ll just look at your blog and all its pretty pictures.
Favourite donut flavour: cinnamon sugar, white coconut iced glazed, and any and all donut holes (my little local donut shop makes blueberry, raspberry, cinnamon, chocolate, and glazed!)
Currently my #1 is Timbits from Tim Hortons, I must say :D but I miss anything from Mister Donut (aka Misudo) in Japan!!! I miss Misudo terribly!!!
Lots of love and well wishes from Canada to you, Bakerella <3
Glazed Donuts are the best.
Hope you’re feeling better!
hehe I love that necklace! It reminds me of Homer Simpson a little…I have just recently discovered you, Bakerella- and I already am completely inspired by you! I’d love to bake with you one day!
My favourite donut is classic Boston Creme!
