Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.

One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  1. I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been sick but I’m glad you’re feeling much better!

I’m grateful for the seemingly simple comforts we are afforded by living here in America (e.g., running water: hot, lukewarm, cold; airconditioning and heat; plenty of food, relative safety, technology, modern medicine, and much more) and for the men and women who serve our country to help maintain our freedom. We must never take these things for granted; though, I’ve been guilty of doing so in the past.

Thanks for the opportunity to win this gorgeous necklace.

  2. That necklace is darling! My favorite doughnut: plain old-fashioned. No, really — no glaze, no sugar, no nuthin. Just plain.

  3. Doooonnnutttss! I am completely addicted to them and judging from my tummy it’s a love-hate relationship. haha
Adding another place to visit while in Atlanta =)

    Necklace is too adorable!

I’m glad you are feeling better, keep up the recovering…

  4. Oh, I love doughnuts, and I love that doughnut necklace! I used to have a doughnut keychain from Heidi Kenney, but it broke. My favorite doughnut memory is when I was pregnant and living outside Toledo, OH, and my friend would drive me to the nearest Krispy Kreme so we could wait in the parking lot for the “fresh hot” sign to come on, and then I would eat six at one sitting! I have made doughnuts myself, but only once–maybe I should do that again soon!

  5. Hi Bakerella.
Glad you’re feeling a bit better. I couldn’t choose which question to answer so…

Doughnuts in the UK aren’t that great. i would kill for some really good ones. those pictured made me drool. I think i would like the mocha one the most.

I think I’m grateful for the internet. I spend a long time online just catching up with my favourite food blogs.

This Easter I should be doing some baking but I’m full of flu and can’t move – rubbish.

An unusual talent I have is being able to tie a knot in a cherry stalk with my tongue.

I have big feet so my collection of pretty shoes is small but I do have a gorgeous pair of cherry red patent Doc Martens at the moment!

My favourite guilty pleasure is eating too much butter on my bread.

Just wanted to say thanks for the blog, I love reading it.
    Cheers.

  6. I am in love with this website. I’m new to baking, and have been doing it for about a year. I am in 8th grade, and known as the “Baker” around school. My school doesn’t offer a cooking class so I made my own! So far I have taught 2 classes that have gone extremely well! I hope I win the doughnut necklace!

  7. Glad you’re ok!

  8. I love doughnuts. I could eat a dozen in one sitting and then be ill and wish I hadn’t. Those doughnuts look fabulous. maybe worth a trip to Atlanta.

  9. i’ve been craving donuts for the last few weeks. I wish I were close to Georgia for these !!

  10. I’m making Easter egg-shaped cake balls for a dinner we’re attending tonight. You just can’t stop the cute!

  16. That is so darling. I want one!!!

  17. It’s so good to have you back…

One of my favorite childhood traditions was going with my dad on Sunday mornings before church to the doughnut shop and getting a dozen +1. I’ve always wondered how my parents justified the weekly doughnut splurge in our fairly health-conscience family. They must have loved doughnuts as much as me!

  18. Fun fact: My dog’s name is Barkley. And I love jelly-filled donuts!

  19. Hope you are feeling better!

The donut necklace is just lovely!! My friend and I are avid donut lovers and try as many donuts as possible in different cities everywhere. For her birthday, a group of us surprised her with a 3 tiered donut cake! Her 40th b-day is approaching and this would be an awesome gift for her. Thanks for the idea and the Sublime post!!!!

  20. Feel so lucky to have found your website and have an amazing daughter in law (who is a chef) who spoils me whenever I show her things on your site and will make them for me. Would love to spoil her right back with something from you.

  21. Man, I love sugar. People say they have a “sweet tooth”…well, I have a sweet tooth…and tongue…and stomach…you get the idea. I love it all. Too bad I wasn’t born with one of those “eat whatever you want and not gain a pound” metabolisms. Sure woulda been nice.

  22. I LOVE Boston Kremes. They are my go to donuts :)

  23. My favorite donut is a plain old maple bar.

  24. I want a doughnut so bad now….mmm…I have never seen any that looked so delicious!
This Easter, I might treat myself to one :)

  25. My dream is to go to Doughnut Plant in NYC and have an eating spree.

  26. hmmm… something about me. Well this is my first time entering a drawing. You are my first blog I have stumbled upon and followed. I am a 36 year old stay @ home mom with a wonderful hubby, 3 boys, and 1 girl…good luck to everyone!!! and happy easter…

  27. All those pics of donuts made my mouth water! But, I’m getting married this fall and my donut-less diet has started! Watch me exercise my willpower….although, that supercute donut necklace would definitely satisfy my cravings!!

  28. Oh my god! Not only do every single one of those donuts (I’ll forgive you for saying doughnuts) look delicious, but I LOOOOOVE that necklace!!

  32. I need to try that Oreo flavored doughnut! Yummy. My favorite doughnut is chocolate frosted from Publix! Well, at least until I get that Oreo one…..

  33. I love donuts! Especially ones filled with something – I would eat anyone that you pictured above…probably the smores one would be first.

  34. Who wouldn’t love a cute necklace like that?

  35. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Plain Ol’ Glazed. I’m simple to please!

Something you’re grateful for? My loving fiancee and our spoiled puppies I’m backing a birthday cake for! (w/ Peanut Butter and Cream Cheese frosting!) Doggie Approved! I’ll be starting that AFTER this post :D

What you’ll be doing this Easter? Creating a huge feast with my over-the-top- but sweet Mother! lol

Some usual or unsusual talent you have? I can imitate voices. People are always asking me to imitate someone. lol how embarressing!

How many pair of shoes you own? My fiancee is has the shoe fetish..lol i’m all about the perfect pair of jeans. I have tons! Oh.. and about 25 pairs of flip flops in a rainbow of colors (I love summer)

Phobias? Tarantulas. BIG time. women dont like two things: hairy things and spiders. a tarantula is both isnt it? And.. the name is just scary! Ta-ran-tu-la. Ugh. Sorry Spidey!

Favorite guilty pleasure. mMMm too many to count. i love sugar…. i mean LOVE sugar.

Surprise me. I’ve been following you for years. havent won anything yet but i just love logging on here every sunday night/monday morning to see what you’ve posted, your imagination knows no bounds! I love it! You are a rarity! I’m sure that doesnt surprise you but i cant think of anything right now! LOL Hope you are feeling better! Was worried!! Thanks
    -LindsAy!

    I want a donut!!!

  36. I think wearing this necklace would keep my cravings to a minimum, and I’d be wearing my “weight” around my neck, rather than my hips!!

  37. So glad you’re feeling better! I love coconut-frosted cake donuts and I own an embarrasing amount of shoes – both guilty pleasures!

  38. I’m grateful for vacations and for entertaining blogs like yours :)

  39. Hi Bakerella!!! I just ADORE what you do…I wish I could do the same! I also ADORE the donut necklace…l wish I could have just counted the amount of nuts to try to win it…I love EATING…even more – I love my desserts..all of them! I would LOVE to win this little necklace to show that…Something about myself…I started and run a non profit that works to empower victims of human trafficking through health and education.

  40. Miss B, I’m happy to hear you’re feeling better.

My favorite doughnut is an apple fritter (with chunks of apple!). Although if I ever make it to Atlanta I will have to try a mocha one…that sounds like five shades of awesome.

My unusual talent is I can cluck quite convincingly (or at least amusingly) like a chicken laying an egg. I also do pretty good sheep and goat impressions.

  41. Love the necklace! Glad you’re starting to feel better. My favorite donut flavor is blueberry cake, yum!

  42. Mmm doughnuts. I actually learned that they’re spelled that way, doughnuts not donuts, around a week ago. So much for higher education. Either way they’re spelled, they’re delish!

  43. mmmm doughnuts!

    hope you are feeling better!

  44. Such a cute necklace!

I can’t wait for your book. I made the Hello Kitty pops for my daughter’s birthday party a year ago and we are hooked. Cake pops for every occassion! Thanks!

  45. Wow, that is so cute!!!

  49. Super cute! Love the necklace and I might have to take a trip to this place to try some!

  50. When I head back to visit my family in GA next year, I’m trying out those doughnuts! Wow! We don’t have good doughnuts where I live. Sadly, the only city in the state that has doughnut shops is 8 hours away.

  51. Phew! I am so happy that I finally got around to reading my Bakerella email this week… I thought I might of missed your delightful give-away when I got to the end. I pretty much grew up in bakeries (my mom was a professional cake decorator) and while the world is trying to run from doughnuts I still embrace them (with guilt). I’d love to have the cutie necklace. :)

  52. I just have to tell you that this blog is the most interesting I have ever read. I so look forward to each and every one. You just never know what you might learn. Love the donuts. Love the necklace too. Love to win it too but even if I don’t I still have the blog to look forward to.
    Linda

  53. Love the necklace and your blog. Glad you are feeling better as well! I am in the process of writing a business plan so that I may open a bakery in my hometown. Over the past year I have come to realize that baking is a passion that will last me my whole life.
Long story short, I am going to be a cupcake baking fool in May so that my uncle’s benefit for his brain cancer will have tons of cupcakes to thank the people that come out to support him. Thanks for the inspiration you have given me after reading your blogs :)

  54. Its taken me a long time to realize all i really do have to be thankful for… and wow.. am i ever thankful :)

  55. I once heard that the average American eats something like 165 doughnuts each year. That seems a bit crazy to me…but maybe I’m just not doing my part to maintain a doughnut-induced sugar coma. I am tempted to try to recreate that mocha A doughnut, however.

  56. So sorry to hear that you were sick, but I am so happy that you’re feel tons better. I cannot wait for your book to come out. I love everything you’ve shared on your blog.Such an adorable necklace. To answer your questions..my favorite donut is glazed; I am truly grateful that my family is healthy ;I will be spending this Easter with friends and family; i have the unusual talent of being able to pick the winner of all reality tv contest, i own about 200 pairs of shoes ;); i am deathly afraid of spiders;my guilty pleasures are reaity tv, craftying blogs and Bakerella!

I’ve been baking deprived since I didn’t have an oven while I was gone, so I’ll probably bake up a storm this Easter =) P.S. Love the necklaces!

  60. I absolutely love maple bar doughnuts. They are heavenly.

  61. Today i received a letter about organ donations, and whether i wanted to be a donor or not.

Love the necklace, so cute! Hope I win.

  64. Thanks for sharing – your story and about the fabulous doughnuts! As for me, my favorite flavor is a glazed sour cream doughnut from my favorite local shop – Jubilee Donuts in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio! Yummy in their simplicity.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the giveaway!

  65. I actually started to scroll up to count them haha
favourite doughnut has to be the origional krispy kreme, cannot understand why people try to destroy them with custard fillings! the plain glaze is just to die for

  71. Hmmm. So many things. I LOVE to read. Almost anything I can get my hands on, far into the night. Long after I should be asleep, and late enough to make me tired at work.
I am thinking this today because I am exhausted after reading ‘Horns’ until 3 a.m.

  72. ooooo look at all those yummies! :) Fave doughnut is anything chocolate! hehe

  73. I own six pairs of shoes, but when I was little, I remember being appalled that my mom owned more than two. :) Sweet naivete.

  74. for me nothing beats a hot krispy kreme doughnut or six :)

  75. I have webbed toes. Surprise!

  76. So glad you’re feeling better!
That necklace definitely would have been hard to pass up, I sure do wish we had a doughnut shop like that in these parts. I was feeling lucky we just started getting some cupcake stores.
I have been all about the doughnuts lately.

  77. Mmmmmm, donuts…..and sparkly ones, too! :)

  78. This easter I’m making brunch with friends and I cannot wait!! :)

  79. When my best friend and I are really feeling down, it’s our guilty pleasure to go to a local doughnut shop to indulge ourselves. We can only go past midnight because that’s when all the fresh doughnuts start to come out!

  80. I love donuts…really cute journal entry. You inspire me to create new things!

    Thank you!

  82. I just wanted to add my comments for the Bakerella Sublime drawing.
My favorite flavor is chocolate anything! There’s so much to choose from!! I am so very grateful for my children and my family who have helped me through this difficult time, and I know we’ll make it through together (divorce). The cool thing about this weekend is, we’ll celebrate together by baking cookies, and maybe some cake pops with Easter/Spring themes…This will be a first in I hope to make a tradition of! I never would have thought of it if I hadn’t been aware of this website…Thank you…

  83. Cute cute and more cute!!!

  84. Those donuts look soooooo good!

My favorite is sour cream glazed cake donuts. So classic, so good

  85. there is nothing better than a chocolate doughnut with glaze….Mmmm…my mouth is watering!

  86. My favorite doughnut is the french twist honey glaze, but I can’t resist a bavarian cream. Yummy! I’m wondering if Sublime does mail orders…hmmm…that would be oh, so tempting for this upstate NY girl.

And I’m most grateful for the honor to be mom to the cutest almost-two-year-old girls I know.

    Happy Easter!

  87. An interesting thing about me is that I LOVE cupcakes ask any of my friends. Even for my friends birthday’s I make them a platter of cupcakes and give them a cupcake shaped giftcard. Oh, and plus my favorite flavor cupcakes are german chocolate cupcake with a cream cheese filling and cream cheese frosting.

  88. I am very boring when it comes to donuts, but I love me some chocolate glazed Dunkin Donuts. Oh, and munchkins, YUM! I live so close to one, but I must resist the calories. Sadness.

  89. The necklace is so cute! I have been looking all over for a doughnut pan so I can bake my own (I really don’t want to fry anything).
This Easter I will be attending my brother’s Stag & Doe.

  90. I have an unusual talent…I can talk and sing like one of the Chipmunks! Seriously! My family thinks that I should do voice overs or something….LOL!

  91. Donuts are just not my thing. The necklace on the other hand, is completely adorable. I actually will eat a donut as long as it is not from the big double D or something like that. They just taste like grease to me. Every once in a blue moon you find a good donut somewhere. Looks like you found a dozen!

  92. Well this Easter i’m excited to see my brothers family and my sister at my parents house. Thinkin about makeing a bunny sheet cake but every time i try to make a cake it turns out funny. I think i should stick to cupcakes!

  98. Glad you hear you are feeling better :)

I love lemon filled doughnuts with a powdered sugar coating. VERY messy, but so yummy.

  99. I absolutely love your blog — I just recently stumbled across it. :)

I looove double chocolate donuts. But I’m not sure if they’ll always be my favorite; I’ve yet to get out to an amazing donut shop like the Sublime one. Maybe I’ll find some other flavors eventually.

That necklace is also awesome. :-)

  100. Love, love, love the donuts and the necklace. Hope I win!

  101. Your biggest fan in Greece says Perastika (get well soon)! Ahhhh, donuts … there was only one place to get them here here in Athens, Dunkin’ Donuts. It closed quite a while ago. Even a simple glazed would send me to heaven after so long. By the way … any idea how I can get the lick marks off my laptop screen? Take good care of yourself Bakerella.

  104. Sorry to hear you were ailing – hope you’re well on the mend!!!

In other news – I LOVES me some Fresh, Hot Now Krispy Kremes (the classic plain – why tart up a great thing) . . . but just can NOT get behind using KK doughnuts for buns on a burger (as I heard some crazy kids are doing these days)!

P.S. – Now that I live in New Orleans, I eat more beignets than doughnuts anyway.

  105. This Easter I’m going to either make panorama eggs, something I’ve done since I was a kid and want to pass onto my daughter OR cake pops….I think I know already what she will pick! Thanks for the continued inspiration and Happy Easter!

  106. I love this blog post…. and doughnuts!!!! The oreo doughnut looks to die for!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  107. Those dougnuts LOOK AMAZING! I have yet to make some from scratch … just another to-do on my baking list.

  109. Old fashioned cake doughnut with a simple sugar glaze is my favorite. Mmm mmm tasty!

  110. those dounuts looked absolutly amazing! i hope you get well soon!

  111. Hello!

    Hope your feeling better!! :)

I LOVE donuts too, but all I have around these parts is Tim Hortons (ever heard of it?, it’s a HUGE coffee chain in Canada), donuts are fresh but mass produced, nothing like those gorgeous ones from Sublime, I would love to sink my teeth into any of them, I’ll have to live vicariously through you until I can make the 20 hour drive to Atlanta.
    :D

  112. Those donuts look fabulous! I love chocolate covered donuts. Yum!

  113. mmm…i pretty much love any kind of donut as long as it comes from a pink box. there’s something about the pink box that makes it seem like a tried and true donut!

  114. Glad that you are feeling better. Cute necklace! My favorite doughnut is boston creme, although I would take any doughnut offered.

  115. I’m s glad you’re feeling better!
OK–I was ready to begin counting in order to have a chance at that gorgeous necklace, lol!
I’m mom to 9 (grown) kids and each and every day I walk in gratitude for the blessing of having these 9 wonderful individuals in my life. My best wishes for your continued good health!

  116. I WILL get a book published someday. I might be the only one who knows it, but that doesn’t mean it’s unrealistic. It will happen.

  117. Never in my life have I wanted to visit a doughnut place more than I do in this instant….

  118. My dad worked for Dunkin Donuts for 35 years! Doughnuts were a very big part of my childhood, and still are to this day! Not only do those doughnuts look amazing, but that charm necklace is now on my wish list! Not only for me, but also for my sister and my mom! Thanks! I enjoyed your post!

  119. I’m afraid of holes. Things with holes. It freaks me out!

  120. I love doughnuts! And that necklace is the cutest!

  121. I love your site and your cake pops. They inspire me to be a better baker and to take the extra time to make the treats not only taste superb, but to look extra decadent too. You are awesome!!

    p.s. donuts are awesome!!

  122. I just went to Sublime today for the first time (thank you for your post) and I can’t believe I haven’t been before now! I work right around the corner from it…dangerous now because I may be making weekly/daily(??) trips over there…

I had the A-Town Creme (I am a native Atlantan so I thought it only fitting for my first visit) and can’t WAIT to try the oreo!! I can see the obsession in sight.

Thank you for introducing me to something that I should have found before! I told the owner that I found out about him from your blog – he remembered you, said you were very nice :) and YES – he is adorable.

I love everything that you do!

  123. I’m sure with the amount of comments I’ll even win but it’s worth a try! This Easter – as every Easter – I’ll be headed to my Grandmother’s for brunch and then to my uncle’s to hang out.

  124. I love doughnuts too! In just 3 weeks I will be in Atlanta for a Beth Moore conference… and I’m just going to have to hunt Sublime down! Oh delish!

Something about me…. (or was that something about me already?)

We made and Easter Rabbit “Gingerbread House” today… I was being a little OCD about it and then finally just decided to let my ‘little helpers” be little helpers. It’s not so pretty now, but so beautiful to a mama of two boys (ages 1 & 5) :)

  125. wow, this is looking so yummy!!
OK.. .favorite doughnut flavour, that oreo one is convincing me. I own 33 pairs of shoes. yep, shopaholic a little bit. I’ve already made for my boyfriend you valentine chocolate cake box, tough woman! hahaha
Love everything about this. And sneaky peaks from work at your website, every single day :)

  126. I love Sublime! My favorite is either the orange star or the strawberry cream or the toffee crunch or the oreo. . .oh, they are all good–who could ever choose?!
You should check out Dutch Monkey Doughnuts in Cumming. They have a mocha buttercream bismark that you would love!

  127. We actually have one of those stores in our mall. Always want to go in, but I don’t think the husband would like it much. ( We tend to go to the mall together).

  128. Holy cow, that is so cute!

  129. Oh my gosh,i’m from Brazil, and i’m day dreaming about these doughnuts!!!!! And what a cute awesome little necklace!!
    Congratulations Bakerella :)
everything’s looking great, but whats new in that? :)

  130. That is adorable! Thank you for the chance to win it. I enjoy your blog so much. Something about me: I once talked to Bill Cosby on the telephone.

  131. Was starting to worry where Bakerella had gone to?
    Glad you’re back!

My favorite doughnut? Bavarian Cream all the way!
(and I can never eat just one)

  132. Can’t we just put real doughnuts on a chain and wear them as jewellery? Not as shiny pretty I’ll give you that but imagine how tasty!

On another note, I ate three pieces of chocolate fudge cake yesterday and now my knee hurts, I think I may have cake-itis! I hear ice cream gets rid of it though…

  133. This would be so nice for my little girl… one of her first words was doughnut!

  134. I grew up in NC and would always go and watch the Krispy Kremes’ being made by the giant machine and be fascinated. I was a big fan of lemon filled which would leave a cloud of powedery sweetness around and on me when I was finished. I spent several years living in Canada where Tim Hortons rules and presents pretty but not quite the same taste experience I was looking for,,,,,,I’m now in Oregon….a 5 hour ride from VooDoo Doughtnuts but the state is chock full of quirky independent places who try to make neat stuff !!! Sorry to be so long winded,,, off to get a fresh chocolate one from the local growers market!!!! Bakerella rules!!!!

  135. Doughnuts remind me of visiting my Grandma’s house every summer. We used to get into their little boat and drive it across the lake to Tom’s Donuts to pick up a dozen for my extended family. My favorite was blueberry. Yum.

  136. my favorite doughnut is a pecan apple fritter that’s locally made. why is it my favorite? because it’s as big as my head, just like EVERY doughnut should be!

    glad you’re feeling better :)

  137. This Easter I will be home by myself, having just come back from Pre-Easter festivities with the extended family. I have far too many pairs of shoes, and I’m an aspiring opera singer (I blame that for the shoe quantity).
    And that necklace looks delicious!

  138. Sooo glad that you’re back up. I’m sorry you were feeling down and in the hospital! Scary! :]

This Easter is my son’s first, so we’re cooking a tradition Easter lunch, “hunting” eggs, going to another egg hunt, and hanging with family :]

I get to make dessert and the decorations so yay! cake pops here I come!

  139. the red on the necklace is divine!!
a plain glazed doughnut is always what i aim in a box full of colorful doughnut. Sometimes simple is the best! =)

  140. How can you go wrong with Donuts? Is there a better medicine? Not in my world.

  141. My daughter LOVES donuts and this would be the perfect gift for her!

  142. i want to own a royal dandie miniature pig!

  143. Love this necklace!!! Lets see what I am most grateful for is a family that has embraced all of my failures, mistakes, and quirks. I have a mother who can make surgery into an adventure, telling me all will be okay and to remember what I dream about during the procedure, a mother in law who will stand by me in the toughest of times, a father who has taught me how to navigate around this world, a step-dad who has held my hand when

  144. I love doughnuts!! I would love to a sampler box like you did of those sublime doughnuts. Maybe I’ll have to take a trip to Georgia. Thanks for your ideas and inspiration and Thank you for freely shareing with everyone!!

  145. Glad you’re back and feeling better!

I have to admit I’m a sucker for maple donuts…

    They get me every time!

  146. My favorite doughtnut..
Hot & Fresh Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut. Simple and delicious. :)

  147. Glad to hear that you’re ok now. At this moment I am in the luxury position of picking out a new kitchen. All the possibilities, the options: 1 oven? 2? Pantry? I really I have to do it good for my hobby, but the choices drive me crazy some times ;).

  148. Cute!!!!! Hmm my favorite? Just a plain glazed doughnut…yumm

  149. Oh my, that is such a cute necklace. This Easter I am making Rice Crispie cakes with my class, we are going to get gooey and chocolatey all in the name of Easter! :)

  150. Oh I love doughnuts, here in Salt Lake, Utah we have Dunford doughnuts chocolate chocolate. It’s like death by doughnut. YUMMMMMMMMMM

  151. I personally love chocolate glazed donuts!

  152. I’ll be gorging on ham and rolls this Easter! Thanks for all your wonderful posts!

  153. Soooo cute! I would LOVE that :) So fun!!

My fave donut is the blueberry cake donut! Yum!

  154. I’m happy with the good old glazed krispy kreme donuts. having it plain and simple works for me. but after seeing your post…man, I need to try other flavors too :)

  155. I love donuts too. There is a place in Portland called Voodoo donuts that also has crazy flavors including a voodoo doll donut with red filling and a pretzel stabbed through it’s heart. It’s nuts. You can even get married there.

  156. Soooo cute! I would LOVE that :) So fun!

  157. So sorry you’ve been ill and glad you’re feeling better. I am a fool for an old-fashioned glazed yeast. Magee’s Bakery in Lexington, KY has the best. (No I’m not from there, but I would drive the 2 hours to their bakery for one tonight!) Oh, and their chocolate yeast is great too!

  158. I love DONUTS! My favorite is the peanut butter and jelly donut at Donut Plant in NYC – if you are ever there you need to check that place out. Mmmmm, “Donuts, is there anything they can’t do?” – Homer Simpson

  159. How adorable is that little necklace! Would make anyone smile, I’m sure! I’m making your Easter bunny & lamb cake pops this week for the first time and so excited! Can’t wait! They’re too cute and I’ve been wanting to make them since seeing them a while back!

  160. I’m an aspiring cake decorator in charge of the cake for my grandmother’s 80th birthday this weekend, reception for 50 (yikes!), besides baking Easter goodies for my 2 wonderful kiddos.

  161. Favorite doughtnut would be anything chocolate. The number of shoes……to many to count. Happy you’re feeling better.

  162. I haven’t eaten lunch yet….and that post made my mouth water like you wouldn’t believe! I wish I was in Atlanta right now!
Annnnnd that necklace is the cutest thing this side of the Mississippi…

  163. Glad your feeling better!
Those donuts look fabulous! Must make a trip to Atlanta!

  164. I just read an article about finding a special “gold easter egg” during your egg hunt for Easter and i’m looking for something special to make now for my kids to find. It just crossed my mind to make golden egg cake bites and hide them…yum!!!

  165. I am completely and totally intimidated by the number of people that have already posted but why not give it a try. My favorite flavor is maple…yummy. I spend my days chasing my 2 1/2 year old and dreaming about the little girl joining our family in July.

  166. adorable necklace!! I am an original doughnut lover myself maybe even chocolate covererd but I love the original! My husband is in the military and he doesnt get much time off so we dont have the ability to go see family alot but I think this Easter we are finally going to be able to see my family!

  167. I love it! Those donuts look delicious – will have to check that place out!

When I was little, my Dad nicknamed me Krispy after the Krispy Kreme donuts. To this day, they’re still my favorite.

  168. My favorite guilty pleasure is Belly Dance. I started it a year ago and am now in a troupe and love to perform! :-)

I am so glad you are on the mend and back online.

  169. Love chocolate covered donuts for Easter! After lunch key lime pie. Sublime!

  170. Glad you are better! Love the necklace.

  171. I didn’t even know donuts like that existed! And maybe I was better off before, because now my tummy is growling!

  172. My favorite doughnut that I ever tried was a smores one that was only out for a month at Krispy Kreme. I would so love to try some Sublime doughnuts… And another random thing about me, I just lost my job (suddenly and dramatically), but I am grateful that this means I get to spend more time with my fiance, even if we’ll struggle for a few months. Feel better soon!

  173. What a cute necklace! You find the cutest things ever!!!

    Traci

  174. The necklaces are so kawaii~~~ ^^ the donuts look so tantaizing too! hm, I love te donuts with the crumbs on top.. amazing goodness ;)

  175. The S’mores doughnut looks amazing.
Going to the inlaws for Easter.

  176. mmm….donuts are my weakness. After a pregnancy of not being able to stand chocolate, donuts brought be back into the world of unhealthy eating. lol!

  177. Let’s answer them all!
Favourite donut? I’m a sucker for a classic boston cream, but Tim Hortons (Canadian) has a version of the boston cream with a maple glaze instead of the traditional chocolate. Amazing!
Grateful for? My little brother has aspergers, a version of autistm. I’m glad he’s so mild, and has come so far. He’s so incredible high functioning, you wouldn’t guess he had any form of autism. Very proud of him.
For Easter, I’ll be baking. Dad’s diabetic, and he’s going away for the weekend, so it’s a time to indulge.
    I can’t think of any unusual talents…
    I own… 32 pairs of shoes, I believe… no 33, now.
I am terrified of clowns, spiders and goats. Yeah. Goats.
As for a guilty pleasure, I could watch Disney Channel alllll day.

  178. Meche’s doughnuts in Lafayette, LA makes the best doughnuts. Big, fluffy- none of that doughnutty-aftertaste you get at certain places. Not nearly as gourmet as Sublime’s, but still delish. My favorite is the Raspberry Napkin. mmmmm.

  179. A for Amazing is right! Those all look super duper.

Something about me…..I don’t like using public restrooms. Gives me fingernail sensitivity. :) TMI?

  180. I’m Australian, and I live in America to go to school. My Mum called me yesterday to tell me that my dog Brodie, who we have had for 14 years (I was seven when we got him!) had passed away. So unfortunately this is going to be quite a somber Easter for me! It’s the first time I’ve had an Easter away from my family too. But I’m also really excited because Americans are WAY more into Easter than Australians – as they are with most celebrations!

  181. What a pretty necklace! I absolutely love it to bits! :)

  182. I love mostly every donut.. except ones with raisins.. I have a mad love of maple dip!

  183. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that necklace!!! And, I never win anything. Not sure why I am attempting to win this, but I guess you never know :)

  184. Bakerella-

I’m so glad you’re promoting organ donation. I wrote my master’s dissertation on the ethics behind the idea of an ‘organ club’ whereby people who are registered as organ donors receive priority over non-donors when it comes to receiving an organ. There’s a great ad campaign over here in England making people think about this issue – if you’d take an organ if you needed one, then you should be willing to give one as well. Anyways, wishing you health right now.

Btw, when I’m home in Atlanta next month, I’ll definitely make it over to Sublime! Yum! Great to have you back!

  185. I am so excited about Sublime donuts. I LOVE donuts and I am taking a roadtrip to the east coast this summer. It might add on a few hours but I am convinced it will be worth it!

  186. I love doughnuts!!!!! I’m a two time momma, in the process of loosing the baby weight. I’ve missed the doughnuts the most. A sparkly doughnut necklace might ease the craving.

  187. Favorite Donut??? Boston Kreme! And it just so happens I live near Boston! WOO HOO!
    Those donut pictures are heavenly!

  188. I’m so grateful for a moment of peace. It’s been a crazy year and a very crazy winter. Now the weather is great, our health is on the upswing and everyone is happy.

  189. I love plain glazed donuts. I also like chocolate glazed donuts. Nuts are also good. Who am I kidding I just LOVE donuts.

  190. I love apple fritters. There is nothing else.

  191. I’m grateful for fantastic blogs that make me want to bake and cook and glitter pretty things all day long! I can dream while at work, right? And that beautiful little donut pendant will remind me daily when I don’t have my computer in front of me! PICK ME! ac

  192. Easter oh easter…
My family is orthodox so I usually get two of them (tee hee). Tjis year they happen to fall on the same weekend and I happened to travel around the world to visit a friend attending veterinary college.
Since she will be working on a farm this week, helping out with the lambing, I likely will be too. Which is good because I’ll better appreciate where my Easter dinner comes from.

  193. I love blueberry cake donuts!

  194. That necklace is awesome!! I myself am a plain old glazed donut girl :)

  195. I’m grateful for being able to go home to family. :)

Also, I’m grateful for your blog and recipes – I made your fun giant heart cookie for Valentine’s Day (yes I’m just getting around to commenting), and it was a hit with my friends and family. Thank you Joy! Hope you have a wonderful week… glad to hear you’re feeling better!

  196. This Easter, I’ll be abroad in London, so no family gatherings. I’m hoping to dye eggs with the rest of the students on my program. I’ll also be opening the easter basket my mom packed for me to bring along in my suitcase <3

  197. I prefer the plain cake donuts bought in the boxes at the grocery store. Yes, I know. Boring. But, when you can’t eat the whole box in time before they start drying out, I slice them in half, put a tad of butter on each half, and put them in the oven for a few minutes. The edges get crispy and they’re absolutely wonderful.

Oh, and I like the pink frosted donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts. Everyone at work knows they’re my fave from the shop.

    And donut necklaces. :-)
