Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.

One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  10. i moved to oklahoma a few years back to discover there are NO dunkin donuts around…which i grew up on. whenever i go home i eat about a million of the boston cream, and my mom even brought some down with her the last time she came to visit. i can’t find a boston cream i like quite as much, but those donuts from sublime look like they could be heavenly!

  11. C-c-c-c-ute necklace, I love it!

As a special treat, I like to buy my almost 2 year old daughter a chocolate sprinkled doughnut for her “month” birthday every month :-)

  12. Oh my goodness, I am moving to Georgia!!! I have some friends there…they will have to check out this donut place for me! My favorite? Oreo for sure. Anything oreo actually. LOVE!!!

  13. Thank you for sharing that story about Savannah, as well as your own. I have only renewed my license once and for some reason have not yet made myself an organ donor. I will now.

    xx

  14. I’m a new mommy to a almost 10 week old baby girl so this Easter is extra special for me! And to share a weird talent I have…I can make a bubble from the saliva of my mouth and blow it off of my tongue. I can do several in a row! I know kinda gross but it’s a talent. :)

  15. That Oreo donut looked amazing! Maybe that would be new favorite if I tried it :)
I heart donuts with filling in the middle.

  16. Okay the other day at the car dealership after A VERY long, three day ordeal trying to get new tires and a rim (long, long story) I was frustrated and decided I wanted one of their free donuts. I had a delicious one that I had never seen before, a tiny chocolate donut, COVERED in miniature chocolate chips. It was so delicious and exactly what I needed to lift my spirits. So I agree, sometimes a donut is exactly what you need, even if your waist doesn’t. :)

And I’m grateful for your website, it’s given me LOTS of fun ideas for treats to make for my two kids.

  17. hi i just love your stuff….so freakin’ cute i cant take it! i started doing cakes and copcakeries after losing my dad and having a baby in the same day (EGAD!!!!) last year. it kept me from absolutely losing my mind and i have become pretty good in a short period of time. thank you for putting out all these cute little confections for me to enjoy recreating! love it!
by the way….my mama i believe invented oreo balls many many years ago…i am curious where you heard/got the idea?

  18. I love French Cruellers, only I have a hard time finding them made correctly. I HATE Krispie Kremes version. I really like the necklace, its so cute.

  19. I am glad you are better. :)

We are doing an Easter brunch at my house this year with our family instead of Easter dinner. I am pretty certain we will make an egg bake, french toast bake, fruit pizzas, Ree’s cinnamon rolls and some other things I must think up. :)

I will be making a smaller Easter dinner though….any excuse to have a ham and the fixings. hehe

  20. I used to think my favorite Dough nut was a classic cake one with pink or white frosting and sprinkles…this post is having me think otherwise!

  21. I heart doughnuts!! When I was little my mom and I used to always make homemade jelly doughnuts – definitely need to start doing that again soon. (glad you’re feeling better)

  22. thank you and I hope you are ok now.Best wishes and happy holiday.

  23. I never really cared for doughnuts, but your post made me drool. I love seeing your posts come up in my RSS feed. You rock Bakerella!

  24. I am terrified of spiders, but love snakes.

  25. Glad to know you are feeling better.
    I want that necklace!

  26. oooh! So cute! I love all things sweet – donuts, cupcakes (especially cupcakes), chocolates, jelly beans, etc. etc etc etc etc. YUM!

Caramel and chocolate and black licorice flavored things are my favorite, though for fruity candies I like red. I don’t know what flavor red is supposed to represent – it’s not really cherry, is it? But it’s so tasty and pretty!

  27. ummm, I’m on my first cuppa and I’m feeling like I *need* a donut now…. Bakerella, how could you?! j/k.
When my sister and I were younger, I would call her Stephanella (her name is Stephanie) when she complained about having to do chores. Yep, that was a bit of random useless info, but I miss her and think about her a lot.

  28. I have a 15 year old daughter who can cook like nobody’s business. She loves to decorate cakes too. She would love this necklace!

  29. I’m afraid to walk down the street with both head phones in, because I’m scared I’m making weird noises I cant hear.
Also, i LOVE that necklace! If I could, I would survive on donuts.

  30. Glad you’re feeling better :)
You’ve inspired me to go make some doughnuts!! I’ll let you know what I come up with (although it probably won’t be anywhere near as delicious as the ones from Sublime)

  31. How adorable!! My favorite doughnut is what I have always called “chocolate all the way through” doughnuts. Have great memories of going to the Dunkin Donuts on Elvis Presley in Memphis (where I grew up) with my Daddy on Saturday mornings. Miss my Daddy. He was the sweetest thing.

  32. I’m doing NO SUGAR right now. But, if I were to have the cookies and cream doughnut in front of me (or any of them, really), I don’t think I’d be able to resist!

  33. I love glazed donuts! Mmmmm :)

  34. I’ll be spending Easter with family and baking muffins in Bunny Parchment Paper Cubes!

    Check out the technique here:
    http://eyecandy.nanakaze.net/?p=491

  37. mm Donuts!! I miss my home towns bakery. They ALWAYS had the BEST donuts!! The Chocolate Bevarian…YUMM-O!!

  38. It’s hard to see those amazing doughnuts and not jump in the car and speed off in search of some. My personal favorite comes from a tiny little shop in Southern Kansas City, and it’s banana flavored. I love banana anything, but those are particularly delicious.

    Happy Easter!

  39. How well do you think these would ship? I’m sure my brother will think I am in Georgia to visit him.

  40. I’m getting hungry looking at your pictures! The Red Velvet doughnut looks so inviting.. speaking of which, I made little Red Velvet cupcakes last weekend using your recipe.. delish! =)

  41. This Easter, I am studying abroad in Southern France!

And they don’t have doughnuts in France.

  42. So sad to hear you were in the hospital. So GLAD that you are out and feeling better.
Chocolate. I love chocolate. Hot, cold, cookies, Pops, liquid, solid, inner, outer …
And Swarovski! They have some of the most amazing gorgeous creative breathtaking pieces! I could spend hours in the Swarovski shop. The way the light refracts and makes beautiful colors and patterns can brighten even the dreariest day. Add a whimsical Bakerella Cake Pop (red velvet) and everything is cheery!

  43. You have definitely inspired me! This Easter I am going to try and make sugar cookies with royal icing. I bought the book COOKIE CRAFT (per your recommendation), I spent about $200 at Michaels getting all the necessities and starting Friday night I begin the challenge. I am not a cook, but I have a two year old son, and I really want to start creating some family traditions with him. I thought this might be a good start. This could be a total disaster, but at least it will be fun. Sorry you were not feeling well. Hope it wasn’t anything too serious!

  44. I am a mom with 4 little boys. I dream of having my own bathroom. I am a hobby cake decorator and was pretty excited about the cricut cake ad on your site! That looks sweet!

  45. I’ve started training for a half marathon in September, so I have to watch what I eat, but this post so,ooo makes me crave donuts now. My favourite is Boston Cream and that ‘A’ is adorable. Maybe I’ll go half-sies on one with a friend later today.

  46. My girlfriends and I got together a few weekends ago for a Bakerella Bakefest. We had such a great time together and were so excited to try the mini cupcakes, smore cupcakes, and of course cake pops. They were a hit with everyone we passed them out to. Thanks for the fun!

  49. Donuts are one of my biggest stumbling blocks when trying to diet. I LOVE them! All kinds!

  50. I love cream filled and custard filled doughnuts they’re my favorite.

Also, the necklaces are adorable, I think it’s great that they’re alice collection but not all HEARTS AND TEACUPS like so many of the alice related jewelry that has come out recently.

  51. This neckalce is too cute! I love it! My fiance is terrified of jewelry…it’s such a weird phobia. He can’t touch it, especially dainty necklaces. Needless to say, he never buys me jewelry so I need to win some! :)

  53. My names Amber and I read your site everyday but this is the first comment I’ve ever posted!

  64. Over Easter I will be obessing over those doughnuts and trying to figure out how to get my hubby to take me to Atlanta so I can have some!!!

  65. I live in Atlanta, and while Voodoo Donuts in Portland will always have my heart, Sublime does a great job of filling my delicious donut cravings. And that necklace is adorable!

  66. I know how you feel about the impulse buy.
I am cupcake crazy!! its really bad. i should join a suport group. lol
I saw the cupcake necklace and had to have it…$180 later but i love it! I wish i could get the whole collection but at almost $200 a pop my bank account would die.
But i love it so much.
    YAY CUPCAKES!!

  67. I’m so excited to read about the donuts at Sublime. I’ve made myself a note to look up the address and stop in there on my way from KY to FL for vacation this summer.

I’m so glad you are doing better and that you were the lucky recepient of a kidney. I have a close friend who had a heart-transplant a couple of years ago. It changed his whole out look on life.

  68. So glad that you’re feeling better! Make sure you eat plenty of sweets to get your strength up.

I want to try that S’mores donut! That sounds like it could be a favorite. This Easter I am going to be spending time with my family, and, if I’m lucky, baking a few of your treasures the day before with my cousin. It’s what we do. :o)

    Have a wonderful holiday!

  69. I am grateful for my new little arrival. A sweet baby girl born March 21. She was a whopping 9 lbs. 2 oz. So we consider her our little doughnut, because she is soft, round, sweet, and she looks great in pink!

  70. Wow!!! Oreo donut, you win. That I would love to try. It must be A-mazing!!! Thanks for sharing.

  71. My name is Stacey and I am a librarian during the day, okay, well all the time. I am always reading, especially cook books!! My favorite thing to do is bake, I love the feeling I get when someone tries what I made and says OOOOHHHH that is sooo good!! I have to admit I LOVE IT. I am so very greatful for my children, I have 5 of them, ranging from college to 3 months old. I am 37 and live in the country on a farm that does not farm HAHAHA, and my unusual talent is making gingerbread houses for 200 children every year to decorate for our festival of trees for christmas. No one knows, well they do now cause I had to incorporate help how I made them. Every year more and more kids come. My favorite guilty pleasure is chocolate, absolutely chocolate. I love it and if there was no food left in the world but chocoalte, I am sure I would survive and be the happiest ever, actually, I just want a cacoa bean tree!! I will this easter be handing out those amazing easter cake lollies to all the kids that come to the easter egg hunt I host every year. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this website and all your amazing things you post. I am so happy I discovered this site, completely by accident trying to find a recipe for a lollicake for a friend’s wedding reception. Thank YOU THank YOU thank you, if for nothing other than the recipe which was amazing by the way.

  72. Cutest thing I have ever seen … we just this past month received a Dunkin Donuts in Saint Louis and people are so excited … I tend to like the private ones … yum … I hope you feel better soon!

  73. There are 253 nuts on the butter toffee donut…..JUST KIDDING! I didn’t count them all! My favorite guilty pleasure is staying in my jammies all day while watching what my husband calls tash tv and not leaving the house. All this while munching on yummy treats I have copied from your site – we heart the s’mores cupcakes and the red velvet cake! SO GOOD!

  74. Donuts. Just love donuts. Donuts with nuts, donuts filled, donuts with chocolate icing, donuts baked, donuts fried, donuts with glaze…….

  75. I love Krispy Kreme, simple glazed (the original!) donuts. I don’t eat very many (even though I want to!), but when I get to have one, it’s happiness! My husband had his first Krispy Kreme glazed donut while we were in Seoul, South Korea 2.5 years ago, and now he loves them too.

This Easter I’m making your Spring Chicks cake pops for my family to enjoy. I don’t remember how I found your blog only a few short weeks ago, but I love it and have been visiting it regularly ever since. I love baking, which is a tough hobby to have when you’re trying to lose a little weight, but your blog makes it so much fun. I have a creative personality and your cake ball and cake pop recipes have satiated my creativity craving for the last month:) Thanks so much, Bakerella! Happy Spring:)

  76. This donut post = food porn for me. OMG. I love donuts!

  77. I love donuts!!!!!! and I would love this necklace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  78. Must have food jewelry!

  79. Something random…..something random….oh! I like sweet pickles dipped in my homemade marinara sauce for a tasty little snack! YUM!

Love your ideas, thanks for sharing them will all of us!!

  80. Yummy!

  81. I just cleaned up bananas and cheerios off the floor from my one year old. But I love being a mom! And I love donuts. :)

  82. When I was little, Mom would take me to the local doughnut shop where they had framed posters from musicals on the walls. There was one I liked – a cartoon drawing of Annie, looking listlessly off into blackness – but the words didn’t make sense to me. I asked my mom, “Why is Annie in prison?” She was puzzled, then looked at the poster. “It says, ‘Annie in Person’. Not ‘Annie in Prison’.” Oops. When I was in college, that doughnut shop burned down, but my mom went over and rescued the Annie poster, which I now have in my house.

  83. Love the doughnut necklace! My dad was on a list for a kidney for a while, but passed away before he got one. It’s awesome that you have had yours for so long, what an amazing gift!

  84. Toooo cute! But most importantly, Glad you’re feeling better!

  85. This Easter my beautiful sister is coming to visit for FOUR days!! Yeah!! She is my best friend and confidant. I do things with her I would NEVER do alone. We both say it’s probably a good thing we don’t live closer because we’d weigh a lot more, spend a lot more, and laugh a lot more (but that’s a good thing!). We’ve got a room at a local resort (thanks Eric!) and will stay up too late every night, giggle till we have an accident, go for long walks, and get some special girl stuff done. I love, love, love my sister way up to God! ?

  86. did u also see that swarovski also has a cupcake necklace in the alice in wonderland collection? i had been there a cpl weeks ago and saw the doughnut necklace and also a cupcake necklace that has a lil spoon on it as well, its adorable :) I also collect cupcake jewelry. for valentines day my wonderful boyfriend bought me the cupcake necklace from Tiffany & Co. so it is now my favorite piece in my collection :)

  87. Tomorrow, I will be waking up at 3:30 am to make it to work in time to fry the donuts before we open….I’m not usually much of a jewerly person, but I am totally coveting that little necklace!

  88. Those doughnuts look so amazing, I may just have to take a trip to Atlanta just to eat one…that is huge, because doughnuts never really call out my name. Thanks for your wonderful site, and giveaway, and I hope your health is on the upswing.

  89. I don’t know if it’s a curse or a blessing that Sublime Doughnuts is in Georgia and I am in California :(

  90. Adorable necklace! Glad you’re feeling better!

  91. Those donuts look YUMMY!

  92. I looove plain glazed donuts. Glazed crullers are a close second though!

  93. So glad you’re feeling better! Now I have yet another excuse to use on my husband for a much needed trip back to GA. Oh my, that Orange Dream Star is calling my name.

  94. I really love a boston cream donut but honestly I’ve never had a bad donut, ever. I wonder if that donut shop ships to NY… Love the necklace!

  95. favorite guilty pleasure – shoes, because i don’t have any money for food and yet i can’t stop buying them =P

  96. My favorite doughnut is anything cream filled. I especially like chocolate frosted or glazed. Powdered are too messy for me. I can make a mess with anything, so I try to not invite extra messiness. Plus, the doughnuts have to be fresh, no stale doughnuts!

  97. Mom to 2 fab boys :) and with all the running around I do after them, I can’t lose any weight b/c I LOOOOOVEEEEE Sweets! Your doughnut blog reminded me of benieg’s (sp?) I saw on Food Networks episode of Best Thing I ever Ate – totally Fried and am now totally craving it!

  98. Now I’m craving those wonderful looking pieces of heaven!

  99. I am grateful that tomorrow we will be celebrating my mom’s birthday, 67 years young. She has stage 4 bone cancer related to breast cancer. She is a beautilful woman.

  100. I love the classic glazed chocolate iced doughnut…and could eat about 12 of them right now after looking at these yummy pictures.

  101. I like blueberry cake donuts from Dunkin Donuts :)

Love your blog! I check it every week for updates, it’s the best.

  102. love the necklace, glad you are feeling better! Cake pops changed my sweet tooth controlled life! I can NOT wait for your book to come out!

  103. My favorite type of doughnuts are ones that are made of Swakorski crystals.

So glad to hear you are doing better!

  104. I’m so glad you are feeling better!!

Something weird? My elbows are double jointed.

  105. Glad you are feeling better!! We need you here to inspire us with your gorgeous baking & photography!!

  106. I love eclair donuts. You know the long ones with the chocolate icing and creamy filling. I’m making my mouth water just describing them. I also love almost all filled donuts.

  107. Pretty necklace!

Although I’ve never had a Smores donut I think that one would be spectacular!

  108. Once a month my office has an event called “Donut Day” there are hundreds of donutc catered in and I always feel like a glutton afterwards… but they are so delicious… and so is this necklace!

  109. I think I love cupcakes more than donuts! Why couldn’t we find a way to mix the light, airy donuts that melt in your mouth with the amazingly cute little bundles of joy cuppycakes? I bet these would be an instant best seller for any bakery!

  110. I absolutely love donuts. My girlfriends and I went on a girls’ road trip to Savannah, GA and found an amazing donut bakery there. We’re always looking for donut “things” to give each other for gifts now.

  111. Favorite doughnut is hot glaze, I have too many shoes to count, I’m afraid of heights, and my guilty pleasure is my mountain of fashion mags. :)

  112. We are going camping for the week of Spring Break which falls the week after Easter for us. Beautiful necklace!

  113. My favorite doughnut is the french cruller, which I haven’t had in years! The crazy thing about myself would be that I am 50 years old and I am attending college…can you believe it? Me either! But I love it.

  114. Chocolate Cream Stick… nuff said.

  115. Those necklaces are so cute!!! Anyway, my favorite doughnut flavor would have to be the cheesecake doughnut from Krispy Kreme. Well I love anything cheesecake flavored really.

  116. Boston cream donut with lots of chocolate icing……or an old fashioned raspberry jelly filled donut with sugar on the outside…..or…..

  117. So precious!! My favorite donut varies on my mood that day. Something interesting….I am a real estate appraiser wishing I would have gone to pastry school instead! Numbers? Only when they deal with recipes do I like them and yet I deal with them daily. Love your blog!!

  118. First of all…Thank you God for that transplant for you 16 years ago! You have brought so much joy into so many lives! This Easter my first grandbaby (Kaylin Grace) is being baptized…CELEBRATION!!! She would love to play with that donut necklace around Grammy’s neck!! Happy Easter!

  119. My husband found this tiny little bakery near work and forced me to try their marshmallow donut. I do not like donuts, but this one was ever-so-slightly lemon-y and the marshmallow was light and fluffy, not sticky. I think I have found the perfect donut, and may even like it enough to sport this donut necklace around proudly should I win : )

  120. I can peel a banana with my feet. I watched My Left Foot with my mom when I was maybe 10, and it instilled a weird phobia in me about whether I’d be able to function if I could only use my feet instead of my hands. I can also write my name with my right foot. Try as I might, I just couldn’t do it with my left. I guess I’m right-footed as well as right-handed.

  121. Guilty pleasure? well that would be perezhilton.com

I can’t get enough of the flithy stuff. :)

HOPE I WIN! & glad you’re feeling better!

  122. Hm, let’s see… Favorite donut? Well, I do have a weakness for double-chocolate — chocolate-cake donuts with chocolate frosting. I have a… fondness for chocolate, you see. When is Easter this year? I always lose track of holidays that wander about the calendar rather than having a specific recurring date.

  123. Donuts are my weakness! Give me a cream filled Longjohn (or eclair) any day of the week and I’m in heaven.
    Yum!!

    Love the little necklace!

  124. Mmmm… Donuts. Over here we have a green tea donut that I just adore, but these look AMAZING as well.

  125. I found your site through the Pioneer Woman. Love it, and am trying to make the peach crisp tonight for dessert. I read your posts while I nurse my baby and dream about having more time to bake and cook. In another year or so!

  126. I have an awful (and delicious) habit of baking instead of doing homework. Last night when i should have been writing an essay on Tolstoy’s Death of Ivan Ilyich, I made a strawberry-apricot pie. I may use it to bribe my teacher for an extension.

  127. Are you surprised by the number of comments?! I think not. you always surprise us.

Since we’re on doughnuts, I have to share my favorite family ‘doughnut’. It is called a greble. It is a light pastry (usually made with either buttermilk or sour cream) that is shaped into a twisty rectangle and then quickly fried. While still warm they are either dipped in cinnamon sugar or drizzled with icing. Any time my grandmother (who came here from a German colony in Russia) THOUGHT we were coming to the house she made these for us. A batch makes about 50! They are amazing!

I was foolish enough to never get her exact recipe. I’ve only been able to cobble a recipe together. So sad! A lesson learned – never pass up an opportunity to spend an afternoon in the kitchen with a relative making their favorite dishes!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  128. Hope you feel better soon! The necklaces are adorable.

  129. Even though I like several flavors of donuts, I always keep coming back to the cake donuts (white or chocolate) with frosting and sprinkles…

  130. I laugh when I see all the pretty pastel Easter things. You see my Easter basket was from the dark side – dark chocolate bunnies with bitten off ears, chocolate filled eggs with the flowers flicked off and all black jelly beans. The only spot of color were the Peeps. I loved every bit of sugarness and the rest of the kids hated them.

  131. it may be time to take a trip to GA: doughnuts and sweet tea!

  132. That necklace is just too too cute! I would love a sweet treat to hang around my neck because I am getting married in October and unfortunately I won’t be able to have a sweet treat for a while. It would be a delightful reminder of what’s waiting for me after all my hard work come November! Krispy Kreme has a creme filled doughnut with my name on it! ;) Or maybe I’ll make some homemade ones for my new hubby… mmmmm.

  133. I like the necklace. I love holidays where I can bake themed related stuff…cupcakes, cakes, cake balls, cake pops…my mind just goes crazy with all the ideas. Now I have a headache.

  134. Such a cut little donut! I love boston cream pie donuts :)

  135. thanks for this giveaway. I’m happy to see that you enjoyed your donuts, I used to do this myself when I bought a dozen krispy kremes, mmm i love the original glazed!

  136. So glad you are feeling better!

Love the Honey Crullers at Tim Hortons. And the raspberry-filled Timbits. Yum yum yum.

Those pics make me very hungry for doughnuts!! I can almost smell them!

  137. Those look amazing! The other day I went to Peace Love and Little Doughnuts in Pittsburgh PA and had the most amazing (and my new favorite) doughnut. A white cake doughnut with maple icing and hot fresh bacon crumbled on top. Yes the maple bacon doughnut was a winner!

  138. I made Spring Chick cake pops this weekend and they are (were) adorable.
I’m glad you are back and hopefully feeling much better. Much love and prayers to you!

  139. I love the plain old long john’s that you get from the grocery store…. its something about their chocolate glaze that gets me every time!!! Looove the necklace!

  140. Those Doughnuts look fantastic…..I’ve never been to Atlanta but now I have a reason ;-). I also want to someday go to seattle and try voodoo doughnuts too! :-)

  141. I love a good doughnut. Preferably either glazed or angel creme filled. Krispy Kreme is my favorite from a chain, but there is a local bakery HomeMade Delights in Roanoke, Al, that makes killer doughnuts. Melt in your mouth pillows of yummy. The necklaces are adorable!

  142. Those are so cute! And I am envious that you live close enough to eat those doughnuts, they look delightful.

Something about myself? Even though I’m a totally messy person, I’m a perfectionist when it comes to baking and crafts. I know I’m the only one who sees them, but the flaws bother me.

  143. I LOVE those doughnut necklaces .. you have wonderful “taste”! Hah! =)

I am starting my first class toward a certificate in Human Resources tonight and I’m excited/nervous/wondering if I’m crazy. Having a slow Easter, just church and a simple ham dinner with family. Hugs!

  144. Love the necklace. Hope you are feeling better.

  145. Love the necklace … as for something about myself? I can say the alphabet backwards. Really fast. Sober or intoxicated ; )

  146. My fiance and I are meeting my parents in Green Bay WI, in the middle of Chicago and the U.P., for Easter! Woo hoo only a three hour drive instead of six.

PS – Those doughnuts look heavenly…I am so jealous!

  147. Pulling up the rear here! (sad when you make yourself lol, isn’t it?)

Thanks for the great posts- looking forward the book.

  148. Something about me…my favorite donut is maple glazed. In fact, I think my favorite ANYTHING is maple glazed. Yum.

  149. Those donuts look so good! We have a great place called Allie’s donuts here.

  150. Hard to pick my favorite donut but I would have to say a good chocolate covered or maple covered donut. I don’t usually like filling but would not turn it away either :) Very fun give away.

  151. My sister is coming home from ballet school for Easter! We’re making chocolate babka for Easter breakfast. When she was home for spring break we made two batches of peanut butter cookies, your red velvet cake, crumb cake, cheesecake, irish potatoes, two batches of brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and coffee cake!

  152. i’m a long-time lurker, and the doughnut necklace convinced me to stop lurking and start commenting! I currently live in singapore, and i LOVE green tea flavoured doughnuts!

  153. That necklace is absolutely adorable! Right now I’m incredibly groggy, having just moved to a new place. I never want to move again. Anyway, I’ve always been a sucker for plain cake donuts with pink frosting…heck, I’ll even settle for one without any frosting. Simple and delish!

  154. My favorite guilty pleasure… embarrasing enough it is a hot bath, glass of wine and a gossip magazine. Perfect ending to a hectic day! ;)

  155. This Easter I am thankful for my healthy family and my favorite doughnut is the chocolate custard filled.

  156. OOO pick me, pick me random picker! I LOVE the necklace.

  157. My favorite doughnut???? Hhhmmmm……I would have said maple…..until I saw all the yummy flavors of doughnuts you posted! I think I need to try more doughnuts before giving a definitive answer!!! The necklace would help me decide!!!! :-) I hope you feel better soon!!!

  158. I love your site! I’m 4 months pregnant and now I want donuts! I’m actually in the process of making cake balls – butter yellow with vanilla frosting – and they taste a lot like donut holes to me!

    I’m glad you’re feeling better!

  159. My favorite donut has to be the french donut.

  160. I’m totally bummed because I can’t see any of your pictures — BUT your description of the donuts and their names are enough to make you drool. My friend told me I better sign up for a chance to win the darling necklace.

I’m grateful to wake up each day with another chance to be the best person I can be!

  161. This Easter holiday will be spent with my 1 month old and introducing him to the family. Oh yeah I also turn 30…eek!

  162. Starbucks has a chocolate mint doughnut around the holidays that is to die for!

  163. I gain weight just looking at those. Wow! I’ve never seen anything like that. :)

  164. I have an intense fear that some day I will bite into a custard doughnut and it will be filled with mold.
But I still continue to eat custard doughnuts anyway.

  165. I would have to say that the glazed cake donuts from my local Donut Palace are my absolute favorite. The owners are the sweetest and make the trip there so enjoyable.

  166. My favorite donut flavor? This is hard one! I’d have to say apple spice (and everything nice!) Something about the combination of apples and cinnamon warms my heart!

  167. My fobia is no more baked goods, EVER!!!!!!!!!!
Maple Buttercream is my to die for flavor.

  168. Bakerella, you inspire me. I think it’s amazing how you can bring so much joy to people through your “sweet” blog. Thank you!!

Oh, and about me? I’m a big fan of Pampered Chef, 80’s music & Batman :)

  169. Yummmmmmm! This post makes me want to fly over to Georgia and get myself a box of doughnuts! ! I’m also loving all the “Alive in Wonderland” inspired collections that are coming out, so whimsical!

  170. Bakerella, get well soon! I LOVE this necklace/charm.

  171. Oh, my. Over 6000 comments for a raffle ^^ this necklace is just too cute. I love Alice’s stuff, and if I were a bit more.. well.. crazy, I’d love to dress up like Alice and wander in the wonderland for Easter. That would be a nice period, Easter, to go to Wonderland, with all these cakes and chocolates and tea with the dormouse, the bunny and the mad hatter here to wish you.. a happy easter :)

  172. My favorite thing about donuts is that they remind me of my little brother. He loves donuts, I mean who doesn’t, but he has an obsession, so donuts always make me smile just like my little bro.

  173. Feel better soon!
Something about me….I grew up in Atlanta but have lived in northern Illinois for the past 17 years. I miss Atlanta, especially because that’s where my daughter and her family live. Long distance grandparenting stinks.

  174. Can’t wait to get started on my next project…remember those Brach’s candies, the coconut ones that are layers of pink, brown, and white (used to have caramel in them, too), well that’s the kind of cake I’m making. Should be yummy!

  175. Too cute!
This Easter my 14 month old will be hunting eggs for the first time! We’ve been practicing! Anytime we are in a store and he sees an egg he blurts out eehhhh (egg)! I am so proud of him.
Oh, I am also attempting cute Easter cookies! We will see!

  176. I LOVE sprinkle donuts. They have always been my favorite since I was very little. And growing up if we were extra lucky, my parents would stop at a particular donut shop and get us a dozen for breakfast after we went to church on Sunday morning.

  177. I love doughnuts! And I loved the necklace! So sweet!! Can’t wait to try the Sublime!

  178. that is an adorable necklace, and the dounuts are totally making me drool. lol

  179. Glad to hear that you are feeling better. The necklace is very nice! About me… I am a Wilton Cake Decorating Instructor in Montana and I always tell my students about your site! Thanks for the great ideas!

  180. That Oreo donut caught my eye! I love anything and everything with Oreos – that donut looked awesome!

  181. Glad you’re feeling better :) I’m thankful for health, I too just
got over being very sick. Now I’m going to go to Dunkin ;)

  182. Thank you for the Easter idea links!

  183. I love your blog and can’t wait for your book. This Easter I will be eating… brunch in the morning and making dinner for the fam. Would love to have this necklace. It’s so cute and happy… I could use a pick me up this week.

  184. You inspire me Bakerella!

  185. Hope you’re feeling much better now. The world is a much sweeter place with your blog. Those donuts look CRAZY delish and that necklace is way too cute.

  186. mmm, I’d like an orange star and A mocha please! :-) I’m in Taiwan right now, and they sure love Mister Donut here! I love cinnamon doughnuts myself, especially with a nice hot cup of tea or cider. Oh, and also those tiny doughnuts you can get at fairs and festivals…I love those :-)

  187. i’m grateful for bogo sales. i’m the proud owner of well over 100 pairs of shoes. they make me feel better on a bad day. as well as cleaning and baking. you can always tell when my day doesn’t go well. i make multi layed cake and the house smells like bleach. i love you bakerella! :] your recipes have gotten me through some tough days :]

  188. I’m so glad you’re starting to feel better! It must be so hard to not feel up to baking… thanks for all your inspiration. I’m spending Easter with my family and looking forward to baking lots of goodies for those I love the most!

  189. This Easter is my first one living with my boyfriend, his parents are coming to visit! Hopefully we can lay out at the beach and decorate eggs. :] ALSO- doughnuts? I DO NOT DISCRIMINATE NOM NOM NOM NOM.

  190. I’m so glad you’re back and feeling better! I love Swarovski, and donuts so I really enjoyed this post :)
As for my favorite donut, it’s a tough decision but I’d have to go with chocolate eclairs!!

  191. I don’t know if I’ve ever had a “real” donut ’cause I live in far eastern Canada where exotic donuts don’t exist. *sad* At least we have a cupcake shop…

  192. I would LOVE that necklace! I am def a baked (or fried!) goods fanatic and wish I had your job! Honestly, I am considering ordering a dozen of those donuts for myself and my son ( he shares my love for baked goods, and he is my biggest fan :) ) Thank you for your blog and all the wonderful recipes and beautiful photos!

  193. wow you of bunch of comments to go through I imagen you won’t come upon this one till much later. I just wanted to say that I stumbled on your web page bye chance ( i was looking for cake pop recipe) and have been hooked every since. Being a stay at home mom in a very very small town. To put that into perspective the closes Walmart is an half hour away. O yea and winter last forever here we live in Minnesota. So to past the time with my 3 jumping off the wall kids I look for stuff to do with them on the net. Baking is one we all enjoy doing and eating.I check you web site everyday to see what to make next we are trying the mini maple pancake muffins. I just wanted to tell you thanks so much for your web page my only regret is that I came upon it at the same time I started my diet. hehe but thats ok nothing stays long enough for me to eat to much of it. Iam glad you are feeling better thank you once again.
    Katrina
P.S. the cake pops were soo very good though i was unable to make them my husband pushed me asaide and took over he loved them to.

  194. OMG!!! I love donuts! Especially those from Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Oregon. If you ever make it there you have to try them. My favorite would be the chocolate glazed one with rice krispies and a peanut butter drizzle.

And I am grateful for having a job in the Michigan economy. I thank my lucky stars every day!

  195. Love the whimsy of the necklace! I want to throw a Mad Hatter style tea party with lots of baked treats….thanks for all the lovely ideas!

  196. I am absoutely terrified of snakes. Spiders? No problem. Snakes? I run fast in the other direction.

  197. i discovered Sublime doughnuts by chance as well. an Atlanta native, i couldn’t understand how i’d gone so long without them. it was like a party in my mouth. i’m excited to know i’m not alone. out of the closet with my doughnut love!

  198. OHHhh!! That necklace is lovely!!!
Okay.. My doughnut flavor is just the plain ones with white sugar icing on it, simple one is the best! :D
