Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  1. Favorite donut is chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. So yummy! My hubby went to the donut shop the other day and brought me home a blueberry muffin. We had words. :-)

  2. I love a hot glazed doughnut. Nothing fancy. Although I should try Doughnut Planet. I’m not sure if they have other locations other then in NYC but they’re apparently amazing.

  3. First off- So glad you’re home and feeling better! My daughter and I love your site and I would love to win the necklace for her. She’s 12 and a great baker for her age. As far as our favorite donut- it’s cake donuts for me (especially with cider or ice cold milk) and Krispy Kreme glazed for Skylar (my daughter).

  4. Hope you continue to feel better! Your blog is such an inspiration-everything is so CUUTTTEE it has motivated me to bake, bake, bake this evening! Love that necklace too-you seem to think up the sweetest things! :)

  5. My boyfriend spent more than six hours making cake pops for me because he saw it on your site and thought I’d squeel if I had them in real life. I did – and they were amazing. :D I’m so grateful for him.

  6. I am so glad that you are feeling better! You must get better – your Easter cake pop ideas are my favorites!

I love the doughnuts – I wish I was in Atlanta. Doughnuts are evil and always make my mood better and happy!

Thanks for all the wonderful goodies you share!!

  7. my fav donut has gotta be homemade cake donuts!
i am grateful for my health, even with diabetes, i am healthy in all other aspects.
my phobias are cockroaches and the thought of flipping thru your website at midnite and finding something so delicious that i can’t get right there and then.

i only have 20 pairs of shoes and my hubby says that’s more than enough!i beg to differ.

    Happy Easter!

  8. you are EVIL- i read this post at 1130 pm and wanted to head to the nearest donut shop. oh wait, they’re CLOSED. AARRGH.

My addiction would be cookbooks- I;ve lost count and I never seem to use more than 2-3 recipes per book!

  9. Hmmm… I’m 25 and I already know the place I’m going to retire. Andora. A small city in Europe that I’ve never been to, only randomly heard about, but I dream about going to for no other reason other then it’s anywhere but here.

    I can’t wait!

  10. I think I just like the good old Original Glazed from Krispy Kreme. Does that make me boring?
Would love love love this necklace!!!

  11. I love Donuts!!!! aaahhh a good donut is the best!!! I would have to say that my Fav donut is simple and kinda boring but makes me so happy on a lazy sunday morning….Glazed Twist and a yummy cup of coffee and I am one Happy Girl!!!!

  12. My fav donut is vanilla white creme filled and the donut covered in powdered sugar! I NEED MILK!!!

  13. I never met a donut I didn’t like. I’m sad to say I haven’t had a donut in six years. I got very ill with a disease that unforunately brought on another disease, diabetes. So while I could have a donut if I really wanted it, it surely wouldn’t be worth feeling sick after eating it. I remember them all with fondness and love though. And I am ever so grateful to be alive. :)

  14. I am glad you are feeling better! Let’s get the winter over and the illnesses that come with it!
My favorite doughnut is a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. It comes from a Bakery called Dunford. Love them! While pregnant with my son my mom and I once drove to 5 stores to find one! (The bakery was closed) I was so glad when we did find one and the last stop, I’d all but given up that my craving would be fulfilled.
P.S. I’m an organ donor and hope other people will be too.

  15. That Oreo donut is calling my name!! But my favorite is definitely the classic glazed donut.

  16. My name is Melanie and I am a Nutrition Student at my University, and I hope to:
    1. One day open up a Dietetic Practice of my own.
    2. Open a Cupcake Shop where you can by all sorts of cupcakes (like specialty cupcakes for people with celiacs disease, low-fat, vegan-style, etc.)
    3. Run a Marathon within the next 2 years, and continue to run them and be like Sister Madonna [she has competed in the Iron Man in Hawaii, which includes swimming 2.5 miles, biking 110 miles, and then running 26 miles]: ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUp9v8A46dk ).

…And these donuts are just ADORABLE!!! I would love to include the donut jewelry in to my collection of sweet charms :D!!!

    Cheers!

  17. I haven’t tried it, but saw on TV a donut shop that makes maple glazed donuts with BACON! I would love to try one…or attempt to make some myself!

  18. fave donut? dunkin donuts creme filled

    yum-a-licious

  19. I have 5 redheaded children. Lots of sunscreen, lots of tempers, lots of looks, lots of fun!

  20. I love doughnuts. I especially like chocolate glaze doughnuts with nuts on them.

  21. I love cake doughnuts. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Who needs fried doughnuts when cake ones are perfect!

  22. This is so well timed. I’m a baking student and we’re talking about doughnuts right now. My chef is an elderly master baker from Germany and he went on at length about how, if you can do doughnuts right, they’re one of the best things to do for your business. He told us how about his career and his success, and doughnuts seem to make an appearance everywhere in his story!

I was kind of cranky having to stand over a doughnut fryer before, but after hearing his speech I’m definitely going to be approaching the task with more interest.

  23. So glad you’re feeling better!
I just finished doing a month of no desserts, treats, any sugary thing to lose my last baby ounds and support my sisters and cousin in being more healthy. Not fun, totally hard, but sooo worth it. I love reading your blog. My secret indulgence is California Pizza Kitchen Chicken Garlic pizza. I almost always have another one in my freezer, but I always have chocolate in the house.

  24. I’m so glad you are feeling better!

  25. My parents owned and operated a donut shop when I was younger. I grew up around donuts and surprisingly I still love them!

  26. Hmm okay so what people think is weird about me (although I know its totally normal and know that you’ll totally understand) is that when I get home from an Exam, I bake for like 2 hours… and that is on no sleep because I’m always up the night before cramming!!!).

People think I’m weird because I don’t go home and pass out, I BAKE like I’m in a trance! It is a real stress buster for me! Okay I’m done being weird!

P.S- I love love love the doughnut necklace, I could just eat it up!

  27. Oh my goodness…those look delicious. I suddenly feel deprived of wonderful donuts. My favorite is Boston Cream…but I’m sure that would change if I had donuts like S’Mores & Red Velvet Cake.

  28. Hello bakerella,

this is my first time leaving a comment on your page =)
I just wanted to say i enjoy your posts alot though i rarely bake for myself
this easter i will be spending time with my family and friends, as well as with my scouts kids! We will be doing some easter related activity like the easter egg hunt. I hope you are going to have a wonderful easter break as well!

  29. Thanks for sharing your health story. As someone with a chronic disease [Lyme] I like to hear about sick people still being able to bake. Thanks!

  30. So so glad you are better. Like others I was starting to get worried. That necklace is so cute. Doughnuts are definitely a weakness for me so I try to keep my distance. My first Krispy Kreme was like nothing I had ever tasted before. But my true love is Tim Horton’s, which I can only get on my yearly pilgrimage home to Canada…just have to wait til summer!!

  31. I’ve tried my hand at playing about with polymer clay, and I ended up making some miniature baked goods. The doughnut that I made was my favorite! It’s simply glazed with colorful sprinkles on top. Reading this post makes me think of breaking out the clay again and making a dozen itty bitty non-edible doughnuts in different ‘flavours’!

  32. my favorite donuts.. is… the buttermilk donut. with glaze..

  33. Wow, didn’t think anything could be cuter than a cupcake charm, but I think you found it!

  34. my favorite doughnuts are the kind you get at the apple cider mill in the fall, with fresh apple cider. YUM wonderful fall smell paired with yummy foods.

  35. I never win anything, but this is too cute to not at least try!

  36. Your site is so cute! I love checking in to see what you are making, and I’m happy to hear you feel better. And that freakin’ necklace… Oh My Goodness, So CUTE!

And my favorite doughnut ever is the French Cruller! Yummy!

  37. Those donuts look amazing!! I host a radio show every Monday night and always go to my favorite donut shop, Ferrell’s, afterwards.

  38. My parent used to own a donut shop and growing up I ate donuts all the time. My favorite, the glazed crullers. yum.

  39. My guilty pleasure is that I love to try and bake all of the items that you have on here, yet since my Gastric Bypass surgery on October 5th I have not tasted any of them, but I have lost 82 pounds! I love treating everyone to all of your delicious creations! Thank you for being the best stress reliever of all times!

  40. My favorite doughnut flavor is Boston cream. :) As for special talents… I can do a good Talky Tina impression.

  41. Loved this post. I can’t wait to go to Sublime Doughnuts. I will be in Atlanta at the end of April. I already made plans to add this to the trip. The necklace would be a perfect accessory.

  42. I just celebrated my 31st birthday yesterday and my request was the 4 layer chocolate cake from Costco. It is divine and just what this chocoholic needed to truly celebrate!

  43. I love vanilla doughnut holes with just a little glaze :) Those necklaces are so cute

  44. I found this site late last night when I was looking for ideas for easter bunny cupcakes. I could not wait for my husband nad kids to go to bed tonight so I could get back on here. I love all of your pictures and ideas. You inspire me and I look forward to visiting this site very often.

As for a favorite donut…anything creme filled with powered sugar!!! YUMMY

  45. I’m seriously considering a road trip to Atlanta tonight. I might get there by morning. Yum….
I just started making cake pops and I think I’m going to try the Easter egg ones since I’m hosting Easter for both sides of my family for the first time. Hooray!

  46. Hmm…Something about me….Phobia…I’m scraed to death of clowns have been since I was 4. Well I sucked it up and took my sweet 2 year old to the circus with me. He loves to help me bake!! :)

  47. Those look sooo good! I wouldn’t be able to control myself in that bakery!

  48. I know it isn’t food related (as a fat guy, no food related guilty pleasure would be interesting!) but my guilty pleasure is Lion King 1 1/2 – yes, I’m a 27 year old man and one of my favorite movies is a direct to video Disney movie. Luckily my ex-girlfriend has a 2 year old kid that I am raising (long story, and no, it isn’t mine) so I have an excuse to watch it!

    Hooray!

  49. MMMM donuts…

I’m grateful for food blogs while my doctor has me on a restricted diet! My monitor, though, is in constant danger of being licked.

  50. Sublime…divine!!!! Love the necklace!!

  51. Here’s my random tidbit about myself……I drink the olive juice from the jar! Love it! Hey, I love my sweets, too!

  52. I am spending this Easter with my two children. This has been a hard few months with both my beloved grandmother and my father fighting for their lives and my husband of 13 years surprised me with divorce papers. Still, each moment with my sons is an AMAZING blessing and I am grateful.

  53. I love photography and love looking at all your photos of the food!

  54. I have a doughnut memory. Growing up I would go with my great grandfather to our local Daylight Doughnut on Saturday mornings before going to get feed for the chickens. I always got doughnut holes. :)

  55. I’m excited because my parents will be visiting me this Easter! My mom was a dietitian so growing up I didn’t get to eat many doughnuts but I love cake batter and just plain glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme :)
Glad you feel better, Hope you feel 100% soon!

  56. I’m not normally a big doughnut fan, so seeing all of these makes me want to honestly try them all just to see if they’ll change my mind. And have you ever tried Voodoo Doughnuts? They have a maple doughnut with bacon on top. That’s right, a maple bacon doughnut. I’ve yet to try it, but I’ve heard it’s great.
I hope you’re feeling better soon, and I’m sorry that you’re feeling like crap. ;)

  57. Ever since I saw a Food Network episode on the Doughnut Plant in NYC I have been craving a tres leches doughnut. One day….

  58. I’m officially adding Sublime to my route on the way to the Beach! Nashville to Sublime to St Simons Island! Woohoo!

BTW – Plain cake donuts (dooughnuts?) rock! But, so do blueberry cake, and pumpkin spice cake… I really could go on and on.

  59. I am so glad you are on the mend and am grateful you were given such a wonderful blessing 16 years ago. My best friends husband donated a kidney to his dad in ’96 and that was one of the most amazing gifts of love I’ve ever witnessed. Ever since then life has seemed just a little more precious for all of us…I’m sure you understand.

I work with Autistic kids as my career (and passion), love to cook and bake and am drawn to unique pieces of jewelry.
This pendant certainly classifies as unique!
Would be thrilled to wear it as I know it would begin some very interesting dialog.

Have a blessed and healthy Easter!!

  60. I am grateful for my family….my wonderful, loving, understanding, supporting family…they fill my life with so much love.:)
    <3

  61. I have soft spot for Bavarian Cream but I’m trying to figure out how the get one of those S’more doughnuts!

  62. you inspired me to finally spend the money and buy a kitchen aid stand mixer. i love to cook and bake. your ideas inspire me so much. after finding your website i knew to better my cooking i had to have one! you’re awesome :)

  63. Love the impulse buys. I could go for the butter toffee -they all look so yummy

  64. I’d adore the necklace…it appeals to the Sweet Lolita inside me, as well as the baker’s side of me. xD I guess I find of live for those two things…that is, eating and dressing well (with friends…so we can blow people’s minds, which has been done before).

  65. Any donut with a ton of sprinkles will do (usually sans filling), but I do like plain donuts with strawberry frosting coated in sprinkles very much.

  66. We’re graduating college and moving out of our cinderblock apartment in a month. Holy Moly.

  67. I am so excited to be spending Easter with my family! Glad that you are feeling better! I missed your posts!

  68. I absolutely love your blog, and wish you have a speedy recovery!

The necklace is the cutest thing ever!

  69. Many will enter few ( or one will win).. This is 2 funny..
I have a passion for two things… baking and volunteering at my sons school. We make donuts once a month for a fundraiser!
It’s not work, when it’s fun. I love to make and (eat) donuts!!
    p.s.
    I am a o.d. :)

  70. Anything with sprinkles wins my prize. They are so cute and happy just like your necklace! I love your blog and check it every week!

  71. I crave doughnuts regularly these days. I’m pregnant and can’t help myself. There is a doughnut shop walking distance from my house which can be dangerous! Hehe. But it’s okay to have one here and there right?
These doughnuts look AMAZING! That necklace is super cutie patootie!!

  72. My talent? I can fold my tongue into a clover shape (my whole family can do it!). Not all that useful, but can make for fun party conversation! Love the necklace; I have my fingers (and tongue) crossed!

  73. I absolutely love your site and you have given me new hope of becoming an “artist.” Not the typical artist, but a food artist, particularly sweets!

Anyway, I love the necklace and would love the chance to win it! About me: I’m well-known in my circle of friends and family for cake balls, and even my 2 year old son loves them so much that he gets so excited every time he sees mommy get out the mixer (whether to make cake balls or not)!

  74. So glad you are feeling better. I was worried when you had not posted. I make an awesome smore cupcake, I think the smore donut looks too good to be true!

  75. Your site makes me so happy. I want to go and bake as every time I visit it….My husband tells me to stop because it’s hitting his waistline hard. Glad you are feeling better!! Happy Easter!!

  76. favourite donut? the strawberry glaze from dunkin donuts!

  77. You said surprise you so…here it goes. I’ve made multiple trips to Atlanta for multiple reasons – Braves games, vacation, meetings – and somehow, every time I come something weird or unusual happens. The last time I was there, my friend’s car (where an entire summer’s worth of my belongings was stored) was stolen while we sat and watched our beloved Braves play. As we returned to the car so that he could drive me to the airport to catch my plane home to Oregon, we noticed a small pile of glass and an empty parking space. Alas, thank goodness for public transportation. We hurriedly jumped onto the MARTA to the airport and, after a bit of crying and begging and phone calls, they let me get on my plane and fly home. At the Portland airport, my soon-to-be-fiance, trying to cheer me up, quipped “well, at least we don’t have to go to baggage claim!” Ahhh….always thoughtful! We will celebrate 13 years of marriage this August, so he’s definitely a keeper!

Now, about that necklace…LOVE it and, admittedly, love donuts, too. Maybe if we were to go to Atlanta again, a trip to Sublime Donuts would break the curse!

  78. I love your website & love doughnuts with chocolate icing!! :o)

  79. What I’m grateful for: that Bakerella is back and better! So sorry to hear that you weren’t well–being sick is the pits! Hope your Easter weekend is marvelous!

  80. Oh doughnuts! How I love doughnuts. Funny thing is I play roller derby and when I had to choose my derby name I chose, “Jam Buster”. How does this relate to doughnuts? Well I’m from Manitoba Canada and that’s what we call jelly doughnuts here. What makes them special is that a true jam buster is covered with granulated sugar rather than confectioners sugar.

  81. Mmmm, donuts! Love orange cake donuts and creme-filled. Would love to try any of the donuts you’ve posted. Yum!

  82. Super cute! I love them!

  83. JUST REALIZED I DIDNT COMPLETE MY POST!!!
I love doughnuts, but doughnuts have been my downfall. I used to eat doughnuts more than you can imagine. I then put on 80 lbs in 2002. Since then i have not touched a doughnut…as much as I want to cave in and have one…i def can’t do that. but having a necklace like that is a great reminder of where I was, andwhere i am now…100 lbs skinnier…haha!!

  84. I love everything with dulce de leche, so that’d be the winner for me. I actually made my first batch of dulce de leche this weekend for my friend’s bday cake (german chocolate). Also, I barter away most of my baking creations. Haircuts, massages, design work, help moving, and so on.

  85. Best doughnut is chocolate with nuts on top. Mmmm

  86. I LOVE THE NECKLACE!!! PRECIOUS!

  87. For me, it’s the cruller. Ahhhhh….. Not the French cruller, the one that is fried golden brown, crispy on the outside, sprinkled with powdered sugar. Sometimes there’s a choice of glaze or cinnamon sugar, but it’s the powdered sugar that does it for me. There are very few places that get this doughnut right, but when it’s good….it’s divine!

  88. I’m terrible with surprises, how about I answer them all? If I win, I’d want it to be worth it to you.
My favorite kind of donut is the raspberry jelly filled donut from Krispe Kreme. I’m grateful for Costco and double battered french fries (among other things, friends, family..etc).
On Easter I”ll probably be dragonboating. My special talent is i could make my forearms touch wrist to elbow.
I have about 8 pairs of shoes if you count flip flops.
    I’m afraid of spiders.
And my favorite guilty pleasure is youtube.

    I hope you’re feeling better!

  89. I have never been a huge fan of doughnuts. However, it has been the only thing I have ever craved this pregnancy. So I currently love a chocolate doughnut with sprinkles!
For Easter I will be enjoying time with my family. My 11 month old son and I are visiting my parents in the states as we currently live in Germany! I am so thankful for a great family to celebrate the special day with.

  90. When I was 16 (and unemployed) my friend and I would pool our money together, really scrounge around for enough money so we could walk down the street to Winchell’s Donuts and buy ONE donut to split. Ahhh, it was sheer bliss!

  91. Such a cute necklace.

Let’s see… Umm… Something about myself: I’m Jewish, but I don’t keep kosher for Passover, though I wish I did because it would make it so much easier to diet!

  92. Love the necklace. I live about 30 minutes South of Atlanta. I need to check out Sublime Doughnuts! They all sound yummy!
Take care of yourself. I am glad you are getting better!

  93. So glad you are on the mend. I love chocolate cream donuts!

  94. This Easter we are going to surprise our children with a trip to Florida=)

  95. There is so much I would like to do over my Spring Break, but there is not much time. So far I have baked cookies, inspired by the Cookie Craft book you reccomended, attempted cleaning my room and did some crafts. I still plan on baking a cake, working, seeing my little second cousins, and spending the day with my family,

  96. My family has a long standing tradition of starting a road trip by picking up a box of fresh doughnuts. Now that my parents are elderly, whenever we go a short weekend trip I make it a point to always pick up the box of doughnuts for the trip. My mom always says the trip does not officially begin until we stop for doughnuts :)

Bakerella good to hear you are ok, hope you have a speedy recovery.

  97. Cream filled Longjohns are my favorite donut. For Easter I will be working. We had our Easter get-together this past weekend. Great times with family and friends. Glad you are feeling better.

  98. This Easter I’m going to be begging my friend who lives in Atlanta to send me a dozen from Sublime!

  99. Glad you’re feeling better. Those doughnuts look amazing…I can’t decide which I’d like to have more, a box of those or the cute necklace!

  100. LOVE IT!!! LOVE YOU!!!!! Liz

  101. Missed your posts! Hope you’re back to 100% now or very soon!

  102. Favorite doughnut flavor: cider doughnuts from my hometown bakery! They are a dream. A sugary, carefully spiced dream.

  103. I love doughnuts! They are my all time comfort food. We have a place at home thats open 24 hours a day and makes fresh doughnuts all the time. My favorite is buttermilk doughnuts.

  104. mmm… i’m all about the plain glazed donuts! :d

  105. I don’t know what I want more, a swarovski donut necklace, or an a-town mocha donut…

  106. I really love the chocolate donuts with vanilla filling, I hope you are better Bakerella

    I love your blog!!!

  107. SO CUTE! I’d love it. Thanks!

  108. I’m kinda glad we don’t have a Sublime Doughnuts here in Texas, because I would be there daily! Doughnuts are my weakness!!

  109. um–any doughnut is my favorite!! Krispy Kreme cream filled.

  110. There are 347 nuts on that doughnut!! :)

  111. I can’t wait for my daughter to be old enough to bake and cook with me!!
She loves to look at pictures of cakes and decorated cookies… She amazes me … She is just 2 years old!!

  112. Love the necklace and love plain glazed donuts. Now I have a huge craving for them!

  113. a random tidbit: The airport in my city is located right next to the freeway, meaning when a plane lands, it is required to pass above the freeway. If I get the timing right, I can be on the freeway such that I am passing underneath the airplane as it is about to land (you will see the biggest smile on my face). I try to only look up if I am the passenger in the car :P.

  114. I like anything chocolate.

  115. That necklace looks so good I want to eat it!

  116. This Easter I’m going to my aunt’s house, where I will watch movies with my cousins and eat my weight in chocolate eggs.

And my favourite doughnut is Boston Cream, or anything with sprinkles. Yum!

  119. I am head of heels in love with this necklace! And so few calories compared to the real thing! And would fit perfectly no matter how many actual doughnuts I now have to eat thanks to this post!!

  120. Ohhh Boy that makes me want some Sublime Donuts! They sure did make life at Georgia Tech a bit better! Nothing like preparing for class with a sugar rush and cup of fresh coffee! You just sparked an idea for me: Donut tour of the US?

  121. i love bakery inspired jewelry! so cute.

my favorite donut flavor is boston kreme :)

  122. Well, where do I began?? My Easter week/weekend is going to go like this. On the 30th my daughter is having her 10th birthday party at the roller skating rink with her friends, Wednesday my son has his Pine Wood Derby for scouts, Thursday is April Fools (gotta come up with something good to do for the kids) Friday is my son’s classroom Easter party that I am in charge of, Saturday is my daughters actual birthday gotta make a special breakfast and dinner. Plus my friends son’s 1st birthday party that I have to make the cake for. Somewhere squeeze in coloring the eggs. Finally Easter day I have to make a cake to feed atleast 30 people and we are celebrating my daughters birthday with the family! Whew! I am tired just tying all that!

  123. Easter is my favorite holiday! And cake donuts are the best.

  124. I once saw an episode of The Apprentice where one of the teams came up with donut ice cream. It was ice cream, with donuts in it! I haven’t stopped dreaming about it since…I secretly (well not so secretly) am waiting for the day I see it in the freezer aisle.

  125. Happy to hear you’re feeling better! As far as doughnuts go, I’m a simple girl. Give me a plain old glazed doughnut, and I’m happy. ^-^

Your pictures, landscapes, old people in the park laughing, children in mismatched clothes whatever they are all beautiful but then I take a picture and it’s so contrived… but OH to see the posts on blogs, papers magazine… you name it. Love Love Love.. such beauty in the simple pleasures.

  132. Those doughnuts are so temptingly delicious looking! Gosh, if I hadn’t gained so much weight over spring break as well as lived in Georgia, I would totally go visit this place and order me some! :)

  134. It’s sooooooo sweet! I love it. Glad you are feeling better. Take care.

  135. my favorite donut flavor is powdered sugar with raspberry filling because it reminds me so much of my childhood when my dad would bring us kids home those donuts and the pictures we have of us smiling these big cheesy smiles with powder all around our faces. LOL!! classic and priceless!

  136. Oh no! Swarovski doughnut crystals? I want them. Okay, so I’m an accountant by day and a Stampin’ Up demonstrator when it’s no longer a workday. I have more fun creating cards than anyone can imagine. It’s kind of stressful trying to think of the next thing that would interest my clients but they’ve always oohd and aaahd over the cards we make together. So, there you have it. Have a wonderful Easter, Bakerella. I want to see more, more, more. Oh, please giveaway some of your new cake pops books. I want one of those for sure. Pick me, pick me, pick me.

  146. When I was a kid, one of the things I looked forward to when visitng my Grandmother was her homemade donuts. They were plain donuts, sometimes dipped in sugar, nothing fancy but I have yet to find a donut that I like as much as hers.

  147. Your doughnut post made me incredibly hungry!! I love any kind of doughnuts. I can remember as a kid, my grandmother would get fresh doughnuts and she’d always get me a bag of doughnut holes. Yum, Yum!!
    Have a great Easter!

  148. My favorite donut is the good ole chocolate glazed or the traditional glazed, oh maybe the boston creme, or possibly the maple frosted, Yikes lets not forget about the french cruller ooh la la. And yes that is the only french I know LOL Gosh I wish I could have one of those donuts right now but that adorable donut necklace would do the trick all the time and also save me from adding more junk to my trunk. Love you Bakerella and BTW your oreo truffles were a hit at my party Saturday, keep up the great work!

  149. I am in love with eclairs

  150. Something about me? I’m working on building my own wedding planning business. I LOVE weddings :c)

  151. Glad you’re doing better. My Mom had a kidney transplant about 8 years ago. She has since passed away (unrelated) but as a family, we were all so grateful to the donor (living) who gave to her, and as a result, to us too. Hope you’re feeling stronger each day!

I am super excited about Sublime. I lived in A-town for 11 years, and my in-laws still live there so we’re back fairly often. That guy must do some mean business off of GA Tech! (and did you see you can score free doughnuts by answering questions he posts on Facebook and Twitter??)

  156. My guilty pleasure is looking at your site when I should be: A) doing homework, B) sleeping, C) looking at your site. I truly love it.

  157. *wistful sigh* All those doughnut flavors from Sublime sound absolutely heavenly. However, of the doughnuts I’ve tried, I must say my favorite is maple. Yumm. I’m grateful for a good start to my first spring quarter at college and will be going to church earlier than normal Easter Sunday. I own too many shoes and have many unusual talents (though as the saying goes, none that generate an income…). I’m still afraid of the dark sometimes which is why I stay up to read at all hours of the night, no matter what I have to do the next day (my guilty pleasure). Happy early Easter, Bakerella!

  158. Every year we take out three cute kids to an Easter Egg Hunt or two. One year we went to three in one day! Our favorite is the one that my wonderful sister-in-law hosts at her home. She has been known to have doughnuts at these! I think that doughnut necklace is adorable! Swarovski hit the cuteness jackpot with these.

  159. Cute Necklace! Here is something random about me. I can pick things up with my toes, and my favorite pastry is a butter horn. Fluffy dough frosted with buttercream frosting, and topped with sliced almonds. Yummy!

  160. My daughter & I missed you! Glad you’re feeling better :)

  161. We have no doughnut shops at all where I live. My mouth is watering.

  162. It’s great to have you back Bakerella. Hope you are feeling better and taking the time you need to get back to 100%. I am going to use your green velvet cake idea to make alien pops for my friends in Roswell, NM. Thanks for the inspiration.

  163. Glad you are feeling better! Now, I need a doughnut!

  164. I just had a baby…Gregory Alexander!!!

  165. Dreaming of that necklace around my neck. Just finished a Clam Chowder Cookoff. to benefit The Wellness Community.
Cancer Support. Made Happy Clam Cookies..two almonette cookies frosted together with a yogurt rasin inbetween to look like a pearl. Two eyes on the top. I love to bake for charities to raise money.

  166. I love your site it has such wonderful ideas. Thanks for a chance to win that is the cutest necklace ever.

  167. Love the necklace! The doughnuts look delish:)

  168. Here’s something about me… I am working on a cookbook for my sisters for Christmas. Even though its supposed to be for Christmas, I’ve had about 40 people ask me for a copy.

That may not be surprising, but here’s the kicker…

The first five recipe’s are as follows:

    Boiled intestines with seal blubber
    Caribou Fat Eskimo Ice Cream
    Stink Flipper
    Beluga Soup
    and…Eskimo Doughnuts! (of course)

P.S. I live 30 miles above the Arctic Circle.

  169. I’m spending Easter with my family. The weather is supposed to be amazing so I can’t wait! Hope you’re feeling better bakerella!

  170. I guess I’m boring, but I love plain old glazed doughnuts!! yum!!

  171. My ALL TIME FAVORITE donut is a raspberry bismark with white frosting… Delicious!!

  172. I love warm apple cider doughnuts in the fall. There is a local apple orchard in my hometown that will give you a glass of cider and a doughnut while you pick apples! It’s a great fall family activity! (and a tasty one too!)

  173. Easter will be special this year because it is our last in this house where we raised our two children. Next year it will be a beginning and the first of everything in our NEW home.

  174. Glad to hear your feeling better! As for the necklace , it is to die for :)
This easter will be a special one as it is my god daughters first Easter and the whole family is coming together to celebrate it . my fav flavour for a donut has to be the flower shaped one with a gooey jelly interior .. yummo

  175. My unusual talent is finding four-leaf clovers. You can sit me in a field of clovers, leave me there for a half hour, and I’ll come out with at least 5. I’m not sure if it’s a talent or pure luck, but I’ve been doing it for ten years now. Never fails to amaze my friends =)

  176. I love Bakerella.

  177. So glad you’re better!

My favorite doughnut is a sugar (granulated) covered and jelly filled. Can’t beat it!

  178. I love chocolate glazed doughnuts, even though I rarely get the chance to eat any. :)

  179. so fantastic! can’t wait for the book to come out!! : )

  180. My favorite doughnut…..
I LOVE sugar coated donuts…when I used to live in Puerto Rico my uncle use to make donuts in his house and sell them, its was his business from home, when I moved to Boston , MA I knew that I was not going to see too many sugar coated donuts and now about 21 years later my husbands boss bought donuts and took them to the job… he came home with some and when I went to grab one I notice their was a sugar coated donut… I took a bite and they tasted like they did back home in P.R.. Mmmmmmm…. i know that not that many places have them but when i see them i have to make sure i buy some… ive even have had then shipped from florida…

  181. My 2 year old son has totally gotten into finding Easter eggs this year. Besides hitting a bunch of neighborhood egg hunts and ones at friends’ houses, I’ve been hiding eggs in the backyard about twice a day. His favorite game is when I put the pieces of his alphabet puzzle in the eggs and he finds the eggs and puts the letters back in the puzzle. It’s also great so I know if he has found all the eggs or not.

  182. Glad you’re feeling better, and love your website.
Those doughnuts from Sublime look so delicious I want to jump in my car and drive straight from my home on the west coast of Florida, to Atlanta, Georgia. If I left now I could be there in the morning, and sink my teeth into each one of those yummy, delicious looking doughnuts!

  183. I love this necklace!!!
    I love the colors :D

  184. I looooove doughnuts!!! My fav would have to be the ones with NZ cheese on top…simply yummy! Love, love, love peanut butter, Oreo and any donut with chocolate as well!!

  185. Something about me…… I own my own HARLEY!!

……….and have a bad addiction to Wawa’s Apple Fritters (although I would LOVE to try one of Sublimes!)

  186. Mmmmmm – a smores doughnut!! That is awesome – like that cute necklace. :)

  187. Doughnut-wise it would have to be blueberry cake doughnuts. Candy-wise it’s a toss-up between chocolate-covered orange peels and anything chocolate-mint.

  188. Yum-o! (Both the doughnuts and the necklace!)

  189. AHHA that can’t be good for you.
oh well a girl’s gotta indulge whenever she wants ;)
I’ve NEVER had any awesome donuts like the ones you posted :/ only donuts i’ve ever ate was from either tim hortons or country style – doesn’t taste too good :/
but i gotta say, i would probably LOVE the mocha donut. mmm mocha <3

  190. I am seriously addicted to sugar. Those donuts are like crack cocaine to me. Do they have overnite shipping?

  191. Oh how I wish I lived in or near Atlanta so I could try all of those lovely donuts! My six year old daughter is a donut fiend, but her very favorite is a simple chocolate one with chocolate frosting (she is also a chocolate fiend!). I have a feeling if I were chosen for the necklace it would go straight to her! :)

  192. Glad you are feeling better!
My favorite donuts are cream-filled donuts with maple or chocolate icing. Yum

  193. I figured I would tell you about my shoes, since you asked. :) I actually have over 70 pairs, but my very favorites are shiny red patent leather ballet flats with little bows on the heel. They’re my lucky shoes and, having worn them during job interviews/a blind date, I’ve gotten a job when I needed it the most AND met my fiance!

And also: no doughnut ever beats a maple bar. :D

  194. I’m so grateful for my husband and my girls and my baby’s “new” hip after 12 looong weeks in a bodycast! I’m looking forward to celebrating Easter with them.
Can’t wait for my next trip to visit the in-laws in Atlanta — must check out Sublime! Thanks for the tip!

  195. I love, love, love doughnuts!! My fav: chocolate glazed. So I could definitely used a yummy necklace :) Thanks, Bakerella

  196. I would have eaten the day old donut too!

  197. The smores donut looks soo good. The necklace is adorable! Glad you are feeling better.

  198. Glad to hear you’re feeling better … and those donuts look totally delish!! I’m pregnant with twins right now, so I’d like 2 please :o)

  199. I don’t know why, I but I always like (and usually) buy things that are shaped like food. I ‘ve had french-fry soap, hamburger stationery, swiss-cheese notepad, and a cupcake necklace (now lost-so so sad) to mention a few. The donut necklace? Adorable. Sweet. Perfect. :-)
