Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
I can’t remember the last time I had a donut. Yum! I love maple frosted donuts. But I would eat any of the one’s you showed! I’m glad you’re feeling better.
When I was a kid, my brother had a paper route, and on Sunday mornings, my mom would stop and get fresh donuts for us after she took him on his route. Yum! Now, I am waiting anxiously for the donut pan I ordered last week so I can bake donuts and not feel so guilty about eating them. :)
Boston Cream all the way… though I used to love the Vanilla Kreme from Dunkin’ Donuts when I was younger. Too sweet for me now!
there’s this donut place in my hometown called the donut palace. they always taste like furniture polish and it makes me really wary. i’m sure these don’t taste like chemical lemon though!
Here’s a surprise…My favorite color is pink, I love my shih-tzu, and PF Chang’s is my favorite restaurant!!
THANKS!!! :)
~amanda~
We are driving up to NY from VA on Easter Sunday, so I can be there on Monday to sell the house I grew up in. Happy and sad at the same time.
OH MY! That is the cutest thing ever. Donuts are my favorite…it’s definitely going on my birthday list. Random fact: I ate at least one chocolate glazed crispy creme donut every Tuesday & Thursday morning during all 4 years of high school! We had crispy cremes you could buy at school on Tue/Thur. Amazing.
I like to win things… pick me… Oh wait i have to tell you something random… OK I grew up in africa and once a year the school i went to had a fun fair where one family made ICE CREAM (rare treat)… i waited all year fo rit…. and then got the mumps the week before the fair and missed it…..
I am glad you are doing better Bakerella.
Well my favorite doughnut is chocolate bar or maple bars yummy to my tummy!Let’s see what am I grateful for? I am greatful for my friend and family and will be spending Easter with them. Not to mention I will be making those adoriable cake pops for Easter. By the way I can’t wait until your book comea out because I am soooo going to buy it!!! Something unusual that I can do? I can touch my nose with my tongue( maybe that isn’t that unusual but it is in my family). Shoes shoes oh my I love shoes!!! Well that’s a little info on me. Oh and by the way that necklac. Is way way toooo cute!!!
So glad you’re feeling better Bakerella! I love all sweets, including doughnuts. My favorite is plain glazed. This necklace is adorable. I would love to give it to my daughter for her 8th bday coming up. She loves doughnuts and jewellery, how perfect!
those necklaces are so cute! and that smores doughnut looks delicious!
I LOVE plain glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme. They melt in my mouth. Nummers!
I am almost sure there’s 258 nuts on that donut! I’ve counted them.
Cute necklace, glad you are feeling better! I’ll answer the doughnut question…glazed, simply glazed!
There’s a place called The Doughnut Plant in the LES in New York City. And they’ve had some great ones over the years like square peanut butter & jelly flavored or even Carrot Cake donuts! They’re a great place to check out if you are in the NYC area. =)
Glad that you are feeling better! Love all your posts….so much fun! I hope they open one of these doughnut shops in Canada, they all look lovely!
Mmmmmmm Donuts…..
I love the plain old Kruler (or however you spell it). That necklace is too cute :)
My fave doughnuts are old fashioned glazed. YUM!!! Those necklaces are way too cute!
I’m obsessed with Alice in wonderland. Always have been, Always will be. I’m planing on getting a tattoo inspired from the new movie! I’m leaning towards the mad hatter hat or the cheshire cat or maybe both. I haven’t decided yet!
I don’t discriminate…I love all doughnuts!!
The best thing about this Easter is that I’m living in the same country/time zone as my two little nieces, so I can make Easter treats for them! Also, it’s only 10 days after Easter that my husband comes home for R&R. Yay!
I grew my own wheat grass for Easter. I am amazed at how fast it grows!! Every day, then every hour, I kept saying to my husband, “oh my gosh look at that!! It’s grown even more! Man, if I just sit here I bet I can WATCH it grow!”
Glad you’re feeling better!!
Well…I have to share my youngest sister’s story. She was born with a rare disease that affected her liver. She was told that without a new liver, she would live six months, and she was placed on the transplant list when she was 24. She received her liver, her “second birthday” as she calls it, 15 years ago on April 12th. From that day on, I swore that when I die, they can have any piece of me that they think someone else will want (I hope that is a lot!) You go, girl!!!
Feel better! This Easter I will have just closed on my first home with my wonderful fiance (soon-to-be-husband in June)!
I’ll be spending Easter with my family – can’t wait!
the old dirty bastard (oreo cookie & peanutbutter doughnut) from voodoo doughbuts in Portland, OR. Yum.
my favorite is the maple glazed donut. getting older means i get to enjoy them less, or else spend more time on the treadmill…
My favorite donut is the maple bar. You are awesome Bakerella
So glad you’re better! I had never realized how cute a donut necklace could be!
The thing I am most looking forward to this Easter is hosting an Easter dinner, with a pineapple ham.
Wow, that necklace is so cute! I love all food related jewelry :P
And as boring as this sounds, I have to say that my favorite doughnut is the traditional glazed yeast doughnuts… I love how the glaze hardens just slightly on top, but is still gooey underneath, and somehow manages to get over everything :)
i am thankful for life.
Tomorrow night I will be making bunny-shaped cocoa krispie treats for my 2 year old daughter’s Tea Party and Easter Egg hunt at her daycare. I can’t wait.
I’m new to the site and I love it! Thanks for having this giveaway, and I’m glad you’re feeling better.
Donuts remind me of Sunday mornings at my grandparents when I was little. I always got the Dunkin’ Donuts jelly donut. Good times.
Something about me…my soon to be 3 year old son talked me into making Scooby Doo cake pops for his birthday party this weekend :-O I have successfully made cake pops but nothing decorated so this should be interesting…
Mmmmm…s’mores donuts. I think I might have just found heaven.
What am I doing for Easter? I am having my husband’s side of the family over for dinner. I am making a spicy pineapple glazed ham, roasted aperagus, candied carrots, au gratin potatoes, spring mix salad, rosemary rolls, lemon blackberry bars, strawberry shortcake and chocolate ganache eggs in real egg shells.
I spent today getting the tablescape already and it will be bathed in pastel blues, yellows, pinks and greens with an abudance of flowers that I’ll do the arrangements for the night before.
Easter=busy but I loved entertaining.
umm… I’d guess maybe 321 toffee chips. Precisely 321 chips!! Yes, that is it! My favorite? When we were kids, my Mom would buy the biscuits in a tube and deep fry them in a pan. We’d then roll them in cinnamon sugar and Yumm a rama! Many warm fun times we had with those simple at home donuts!
i like the classics… gimme a good chocolate bar and a glazed old fashioned any day! :)
I love maple bars! When I was little I used to beg, beg, beg my mother to buy me ‘alligator jaws’ at the bakery. Yummy.
Bakerella,
So sorry to hear you were ill but glad to hear things have turned around for you.
I love Krispy Kreme doughnuts! We have several doughnuts places around but I can’t help it – a hot, tasty, melt in your mouth doughnut just does it for me! =)
Take care!
I’ll just keep it simple and say my favorite doughnut flavor is chocolate. Anything chocolate is my favorite. =)
Well I sure wish we had a donut shop like that! But gotta go with a Boston Creme from Tim Hortons (since it’s not more than 1 minute walking distance from my house!)
It’s way too hard to choose 1 favorite kind of donut. Most times I go for a maple bar or a simple glazed. But, sometimes my husband and I are bad and share an apple fritter. Those things are so stupidly good!
My absolute favorite donuts are Cherry glazed donuts! Cherry cakety goodness with sweet sugary gooey glaze outside! They come in whole donuts and bites!
I’m glad you’re starting to feel better, we’ve missed you!
My husband and I made homemade macaroons Saturday for an early Passover Seder and I thought of you!
Donuts??!!!
I’d kill for one of those fabulous looking treats – I’ve just spent 20 minutes having a “serious” conversation with my 19 year old daughter and I’m completely over parenting right now!
That necklace is so cute!
One thing about me: I play rugby! It hurts but is totally worth it. :)
Wow! All those doughnuts look amazing! They look like great finds :)
My husband is a pastor and we live in the middle of nowhere so that he can serve a teeny-tiny little church. The closest donut shop is 50 minutes away. I always have the urge to get in my car on Saturday mornings to go get a plain glazed donut to fulfill my craving. If I were an entrepreneur I would just build a donut shop here in town and eat them whenever I want. Yum!
Those donuts look sublime! (haha) I wish I could try them all!
And that necklace looks just as good!
Hope you’re feeling better!
OK…so this is the first time ever to your site and I am already hooked. Of course, it would make it cooler to win, but I am already a huge fan.
As for doughnuts….I have two loves.
The Doughnut Hole (Destin, Fla) and a small hole in the wall doughnut shop in Hilton Head, SC. They customize your doughnut while you wait. It is the most extreme doughnut place ever….think doughnuts on hyperdrive!
Your site is awesome and I can’t wait to start trying all of your great ideas. I am especially excited about trying the Sesame Street pops for my kiddo.
I am grateful that I am in good health.
My favourite doughnut would probably be honey cruller or chocolate with mint frosting (tried it for St. Patrick’s Day, and it was delicious).
I love the scent of tea tree oil.
Those look A-mazing!
I have never lived out of the state I was born…. which is Florida. Ive never really had the desire to live anywhere else.
My newest guity pleasure is checking out the Bakerella web site and sharing it with all my friends!!!!!
And I LOVE the necklace – it would just be the “frosting on the donut” if I won it!! :-)
I love doughnuts!! The other day a customer brought in doughnuts and to my surprised the doughnut holes were stuffed with custard! I was in heaven, my new fave!!
random fact: i still sleep with my baby blanket and i’m almost twenty-four years old.
now please, for the embarrassment, give me that adorable doughnut necklace. :)
That incredibly cute necklace has inspired me to give up my lurker ways. Why did I never think of creating a sparkly donut necklace? It’s pure genius!
Let’s see, something about me…I live across the street from a cupcake bakery. When I say across the street, I mean across the street- like 20 feet. It’s a daily struggle to not buy 6 and eat them for dinner.
I really like warm Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. Thankfully I don’t live near one so when I have the chance to eat one I savour it.
I am thankful for making it through another day.
Hi Bakerella! I am a 16 year old girl from NJ obsessed with baking, and i love your blog. I would have to say my favorite doughnuts are simply glazed ones. Nothing fancy. :-)
These donuts look so delicious!! But.. I have to admit.. before the birth of my daughter.. my guilty pleasure was shoes and purses. How cliche’ right? It was so bad, my husband and I had donated a room to our house and that room became the ‘Shoe room.’ I had my handbags decorating the walls in their glorious splendor and my shoes; high heels, flats, ballerinas, boots all of them, decorating skyscraper towers throughout the rooms surfaces. Alas, baby came, joyfully ; ), and my shoeroom became a beautiful nursery to keep my little one safe and sound. Shoes and handbags come and go but her smile.. hmm. what can I say? It beats the best handbag anyday!
I love chocolate glaze donuts but I haven’t tried too many others.
Thanks!
Bacon is my fav flavor and I love jewelry that makes you smile :)
I’m grateful to live in a country where i can buy donuts allllll day long!
Anything loaded with custard will always have my name all over it!
Glad to hear you’re okay, love. ;)
This Easter I am going to wear a new dress that I made from some African wax print fabric! It is so colorful that it looks like a joyful shout and so it’s perfect for Easter. I found a vintage sundress with a pleated skirt at a thrift store and took it apart to use for a pattern. I’m so excited to wear it!
wow! 4500+ comments!! You always give me such good ideas! I am considered the Cookie Queen in my neck of the woods. My partner & I have made, decorated, and donated at least a 1000 dozen cookies a year to charity. We love it and our donations raise lots of money in auctions, raffles, etc. A friend turned me onto your blog and its the only one I read religiously! Thanks for what you do.
I’m sitting here wishing for a Jack Frost doughnut –chocolate creme in the middle and powdered sugar on the outside -SO GOOD!!! The necklaces are adorable…Happy Easter:)
I’m a fan of http://www.voodoodoughnut.com/
i like the The Memphis Mafia or the Voodoo Doughnut
and can’t wait to try the maple bar with bacon!
I’m so glad you’re feeling better, Bakerella! It’s great to have you back! My favorite doughnut is the Angel Creme from Tim Hortons in Buffalo, NY, but my favorite color is PINK! :)
OMG! Donuts are pretty much the national food of Canada, especially the yummy mapley ones! This may be my favourite post ever! Hope I win the lovely necklace, and even more that you feel better!
I want this necklace so bad!! Its adorable! Glad you’re feeling better!
I’m obsessed with baking macarons.
I am so grateful for my family. I love baking for them and when they eat my creations the looks of pleasure just make me feel like I’m the best in the world. Even if it’s just boxed cake mix.
Peanut butter cup doughnut… YES PLEASE! Soo glad Sublime is in GA. Must. Go. There. Soon.
Wow! Those donuts look amazing!
Thought you’d like to know that I have never had a cavity or broken bone! Strange for a girl who loves sweets like I do to never have a cavity but 33 and still none!
Thanks for the amazing giveaway and sharing all your fabulous sweetness with the world!
My fave donut is chocolate with chocolate frosting and sprinkles! I would still love to try the Atown mocha donut, as I’m a huge coffee lover. As for the shoes (and purses), I have too many to count!!! I just bought a donut baking pan, so any baked donut recipes would be great!!! Hope you’re feeling better Bakerella!!!!
I’ll never refuse a chocolate chip cookie:D
YUM I love donuts! LOVE the necklace! This Easter we are going to be on an airplane, flying to Finland to see my parents! Can’t wait. A little nervous about the LOOOOOONG flight with a 3 year old, though! :)
I looooveeeee baking and I think you’re amazing. I love the cute and delicious things you bake, and I wish I was as talented as you! So, in order to achieve taht, I always bake the recipes that you post here, and always surprise my family (even if they are not a sweet treats lovers as I am xD).
I’m waiting for your book, so I hope it’ll be available for world wild buyers.
I’m grateful for organ donors too. My stepmom just got her port for dialysis on Wednesday and has just been put on the transplant list. If only I were a match.
Something random about me- I LOVE sparkly things. Which is good, cuz I live in the city of sparkly things, Vegas!
I’m glad that you’re feeling better. Being sick is absolutely horrible and while hospitals are great for making you better physically, they don’t do much for the spirit… at least that’s what I think.
Now about donuts, I’d have to say I love them all. However, I guess I love some more than others, especially the jelly filled. Anyways I think different shaped donuts (like the star) make them all the better!
Hope you’re enjoying the spring time!
First off, am so glad you’re back! Stay healthy…we need more Bakerella in our lives!
Secondly, I’ll unfortunately be spending Easter in the Law Library of my school. Am a second year law student and to pay for tuition I work Sundays in the library. But don’t worry, I’ll be dyeing eggs Saturday (and hopefully the Easter Bunny will hide them around the apartment for my dog to find on Easter Sunday).
Happy Easter celebration to you and all your readers…and if you’re not Christian, then Happy Passover or Happy Spring!
Cute necklace! But oh those donuts! Sadly, I am allergic to wheat but man oh man if they were wheat or gluten free….. What a unique idea for them to make them in so many shapes and flavors. Yum!
my favorite doughnut is an Original Glazed Krispy Kreme, but it has to be fresh from the fryer. I will not eat there if the “hot dougnuts now” sign is not lit.
I love chocolate covered cream filled doughnuts! Even when I was expecting and was diabetic, I worked out my diet and sugar intake so I could manage one chocolate covered cream filled doughnut once a week. Guilty pleasure…in modification of course. Mom and baby both turned out fine. Have a blessed Easter season!
I SO want the A-Town cream donut… Like really, really, want it.
I am so thankful for unconditional love.
I’m glad you feel better. It’s good to have you back. :) And I estimate that there are around 600 nuts on that Butter Toffee doughnut. Lol! Mmm.
Guilty Pleasure – Wednesday morning watching Biggest Loser on DVR while eating Shipley’s Donuts (our local) – that’s not wrong is it ???
I love cake balls, I’m grateful for my family, friends and crystal embellished donuts!
If you happen to actually read this post check my blog on Sunday and see some of my Easter treats!
Bakerella has been a site that I have followed for a year. The Cake Pop book? Pre-order. You have single handedly united myself and my boyfriend’s daughter — she knows the site by heart and will find things that she wants to bake with me.
Of course, I’ve already tried it all myself so I can look like a pro :)
The little treats are famous at family gatherings! Thanks Bakerella!! Can’t wait to read the book :)
I love chocolate doughnuts!
Cream-filled for me, please.
What an amazingly cute charm! I’m sorry you’ve been under the weather, but I’m glad to see you on the road t recovery. You were definitley missed. :) May you be back to tip-top shape and baking and blogging again soon.
Pick me! Pick me. :) Your website makes me hungry – You take great pictures!
Shoes…..lots…and lots….funkiest pair – red suede bowling shoes. :)
Those doughnuts look delicious! The star one looks especially cute!
This easter i’ll probably be pigging out on normal chocolate, as usual!
Yumm donuts! Original glazed, can’t beat that.
I love that necklace!! on Easter I will be going to church and then having a family dinner :)
wearing doughnuts! i’m down
My favorite doughnut is a custard filled! YUMMO!
Just had to also answer the shoe question! I cleaned out my shoe closet the other day and I am down to 84 pairs!! YAY!! I donated over 100 pairs to the local women’s shelter! Felt so good!!
Thankful for my upcoming vacation! Spending Easter with loved ones.
I loved reading your story and I hope all is well:)
My favorite doughnut is from Fractured Prune, and it is a chocolate covered cherry! mmmmmm so good!
Sugar doughnuts for me !
I have been craving doughnuts for a week now, and now I have to fulfill that craving.
I love my Mom’s homemade doughnuts. They are best warm from the oil sprinkled with powdered sugar or cin/sugar mix.
I’m so sorry you’ve been sick, but glad you are better!
My own cake balls are cooling on the kitchen counter as I type. My work is having a potluck tomorrow, and I’ve made quite a few! I hope everyone likes them.
And I SO collect doughnut items and ADORE that necklace!! I would love to win it!
I love doughnuts too! They have great ones up here in Canada as well!
mmmm… donuts.
my favorite? chocolate iced.
Oh my goodness, Swarovskis are they best, they sparkle just so! And I LOVE Alice in Wonderland and donuts, jelly filled ones. They remind me of when I was little and every so often a pastry truck would roll through the neighborhood, just like an ice cream truck would, and sell us delicious pastries. I always got a glazed doughnut with gooey red jelly (was it jelly?) filling. Ahh, good memories, thanks! :)
I am so happy you are feeling better. Even though I do not know you, personally, you always brighten my day. I live with a chronic illness (type 1 diabetic for 30 years) and it is a bit harder to get over things too, BUT each and every day is a blessing. I love your blog and have lots of fun making the things you post!
Have a Happy Easter!
I have to admit my preferred doughnut has always been the old-fashioned, but some of those Sublime doughnuts are making me wish I was back in the States.
I am a nanny and I love finding fun recipes to bake with the kids. I hope there is a mocha donut recipe heading our way soon!
This will be my first Easter celebrating with my new son! I love your blog..and I LOVE doughnuts! Keep up the GREAT work!
Something about me… well, right now I’m craving donuts something fierce. And I own, god help me, sixteen pairs of shoes. And no shoe rack. I’m overrun.
i’m grateful for my family.. and food. :)
I love the cute necklace! I am thankful for eveything I have. My family, health, job, I am truly blessed!!! :)
Uhm.. Well since I have been distracted and kinda forgot Easter was Sunday ( my youngest birthday was this past saturday and I’ve been baking and planning).. I will be hiding eggs the night before and ‘helping’ them find them in the morning.. going to church and then relaxing since my boss has given us all an easter gift.. we are closed on easter sunday.
So happy that you are feeling better, I had it too! 2 days in the hospital! The donut charm necklace is absolutely adorable!! To tell you a bit about myself… I am a Chocolatier and a Wilton Method Instructor in Colorado. Last Wednesday, I cleaned out two of the local Hobby Lobby’s of their candy sticks! Hopefully, they will recover soon! We have high school graduation here in 6 weeks. I am planning to make those fantastic Graduation Caps that you have on your website! Thank you so much for all of the detail that you list in your tutorials! Have a lovely Easter!
I would love to give this to my baby girl . I love listening to music, rain, trying out new recipes and watching movies.
I’m so glad that you’re feeling better! I’m glad you got well before the Easter holiday. That necklace is so sweet! Impulse buying is dangerous, but we’re all glad you are so generous!!!
I love Donuts! I am fortunate to be a Canadian! We live for Donuts…now those ones are extra special. At the hospital I work at we have Transplant Awareness Day and the local donut shop makes them with green sprinkles! They are extra tasty!
Oh my word! This is adorable!!! Since I am trying to lose weight this would be the perfect donut for me! I will be spending Easter with my elderly parents and my daughters and spouses and of course my hubby. Happy Easter to each and everyone! God Bless.
Who doesn’t love a delicious donut? Glad to hear you’re feeling better. Keep up the great work.
We have a local doughnut shop, FROST…they make these very naughty doughnuts that my whole office loves! Bacon Maple Bars! Yes, fresh crumbled bacon on the top of an old fashioned maple bar!
I feel like Homer Simpson when I enjoy one. :)
I am buying my boss a doughnut tomorrow for her birthday just so I can have a doughnut for breakfast too!! (But shhh, that is a secret!)
PS Feel better!
Wow those donuts look good! My guilty pleasure is watching Will Ferrell movies. They are so stupid and gross but they make me laugh for days.
I am grateful for bakerella.com for feeding my guilty pleasures, through the most delicious recipes and picture to drool over.
Once again, Swarovski has to go and break my heart. I love a lot of their designs but I can’t wear most of them because I’m allergic to just about everything. On the bright side, I’ve saved a lot of money from not being able to buy jewellery.
Anyways, I’m glad you’re feeling better!
Whenever my friend an I fight– and I mean REALLY fight– we always buy each other donuts. It’s a special way to say “I’m sorry.” Probably the best way, because donuts are bomb.
Cutest necklace!
My favourite doughnut is bavarian cream! I’m spending Easter with my Dad’s side of the family. :)
that necklace is too cute!
i’m so glad you’re feeling better, i was a little worried when i hadn’t seen any updates in awhile…
and something about me… sometimes when i bake, i just grab a spoonful of the batter and nom away — as long as no one’s looking, i could do this all afternoon :)
Mmmm…these doughnuts look divine!
i wish they sold those dougnuts here! I would definitely be buying another belt!
I’m thankful for my husband. We are having to live in separate cities due to the economy :( And only see each other on weekends. Good thing we just got texting!
My favorite doughnut was one that tasted exactly like a good humor strawberry shortcake ice cream bar. I got it as a leftover from work and have no idea where it was from, either. But it was good.
Glad you’re feeling better!
I’m grateful to be celebrating another birthday. Along with the birthday’s of my sweet baby boy and husband. April is a good month for us!
My favourite doughnut always has been and always will be boston cream. Soooo good! And that necklace is quite adorable!
I am grateful for everything and everyone God has blessed me with. Happy Easter everyone!
I found out this weekend that my favorite letter of the alphabet is X.
I love cake donuts with pink frosting and crunchy sprinkles. I ate SO many when I was pregnant. Thank god donut shops are open arounf the clock here in Orange County!
i absolutely LOVE cider mill donuts. mmm… the plain donuts to dip in the warm apple cider or the cinnamon donuts that you get to lick the cinnamon and sugar off your fingertips. is it fall yet??? :) glad to hear you are feeling better…
I served homemade doughnut holes at my wedding. Problem had it we did a trial run the week before and used oil that had gotten a little rancid, after a hefty bout of food poisoning none of us wanted to touch the wedding ones – the upside? I fit into my dress perfectly :)
I just discovered your blog & cake pops a couple months ago! Your creations are so creative and I went out last week to buy the supplies I need to start making my own cake pops; now I just need to find the time. I can’t wait for your book to come out; any ideas on a release date? As for the donuts, I like the traditional carmel/chocolate covered with nuts but the Oreo donut definitely caught my eye!
Tihis easter I´ll be visiting the USA for the first time..and I´m very excited! I can also tell you that I have a phobia of airplane toilets, which will be a little hard to tackle since my flight will be 7 hours! :)
The Peanut Butter Cup doughnut sounds amazing. I will be in Atlanta in July and will definately have to try it out!
I am now officially craving s’mores.
the original glazed doughnut.
Holy cow, those aren’t donuts those are dessert or perhaps a kind of heaven made just for me?
You can’t beat a Hot, Fresh, Now Krispy Kreme Doughnut! Glad you are feeling better!
I love glazed donuts. For Easter, I’m hoping I can buy a lot of candy and toys for my younger siblings so I can do an easter egg hunt for them. =)
I wish I lived closer to that place…those look amazing! My favorite doughnut is plain glazed! (warm ones are the best)
I once had a chocolate bacon doughnut! I think it might have been the best and most dangerous thing I’ve ever eaten!
Love that necklace! And donuts!!! hehehe…
my favorite donut flavor is either plain cake with orange-flavored icing, or krispy kreme’s devil’s food cake. nooooom!
Here in Portland OR we have the famous/infamous Voodoo Donuts, famous/infamous for their Bacon Maple Donut among others. My favorite though of theirs is the very simple Tangfastics – a cake donut with vanilla icing dipped in Tang. Two breakfast treats in one!
This justifies further, another reason for me to take a trip to Georgia.
OMG… I am currently on WW and I’m only .8lbs away from my next goal, but man, I think I would totally blow the weigh-in for one of the smores donuts!!! lol… I have a recipe for homemade donuts and just might play around with it this weekend!! Thanks for the motivation… as usual!
I love to bake and love following your blog! My favorite doughnut flavor is blueberry :)
OMGosh we must be on the same wavelength. Both my dd and I were craving donuts this weekend so today after snagging her from school for lunch with her Godmother we all headed to KK for some wonderful donuts! MMMM my fav is between the lemon filled ones or the chocolate covered custard filled ones..heaven!! Next time we are up in ATL we are gonna have to visit Sublime Donuts and try some. Thanks for telling us about them and thanks for the chance to win that cute necklace!! You find the most amazing things!! Love your blog!!
So cute! Who knew Swarovski would be into doughnuts?? ;) I am about the world’s pickiest eater. Except, when it comes to sweets. Even at 40 I try and choke down my daily fruits and veggies to set a good example for my kids. Bleh!! I think having a pendant like this would make a sweet little reminder of why I try and eat healthy. Thanks for sharing.
MMMMM but as a purist nothing beats a plain cake doughnut or is it donut??
…I knew something was up….glad you’re feeling better!
Making red velvet cake balls today to ship to my daughter in Mass…would love to include this necklace! BeSt WiShEs..
That oreo doughnut looks amazing, I’m so jealous!!! My favorite normal doughnut is vanilla but I’ve never had the opportunity to go into a specialized doughnut shop!!
Glad you’re feeling better! I’m still a kid at heart and love chocolate donuts with sprinkles. :)
I’ve decided that during my pregnancy, I’m going to get a different flavor of DQ Blizzards each time I swing by with a craving. ….but these donuts need to be shipped, because I might just switch my location of guilty pleasures! I have no problem gaining 60lbs with this baby–I did it with my previous peanut!
Oh how I wish I had a box all to myself right now! Instead I’ll just step outside and inhale the sweet smell of orange blossoms! I love this time of year!
Mmmmm, doughnuts. There was a Krispy Kreme a block away from college- ahem. a few years ago….
Anyway- hot glazed doughnuts remind me of late night studying and good times with friends. Definitely sublime.
Super cute necklace! I just love your blog and I can’t wait to buy your book!!! Love the little owl on the cover ;)
I love love love the necklace!
And I used to tap dance and I still do a couple shufle-ball-changes when I am standing in line waiting. Onlookers giggle.
I live in Portland, OR and we have the BEST doughnut shop called Voodoo Doughnuts!
They have maple bars with bacon, the classic voodoo doughnut shaped like a voodoo doll being stabbed with a pretzel (complete with oozing red jelly filling) and my absolute favorite, triple chocolate, a chocolate doughnut with chocolate frosting covered cocoa-puffs!
All I want to say is that I’m so happy that someone shared their kidney with you and you’re here to share your life with us!
Love reading your adventures and hoping that Easter will bring you renewal and great health!!
My husband passed his dissertation defense today. 6 1/2 years of school and we are now done. He starts his real job next month!!!

I will be hosting 1000 guests for Easter! Looking forward to serving lots of sweets!

Yum! I live in Atlanta and am going to have to find that doughnut place – as soon as Lent is over with – I gave up all sweets for Lent. It’s been great for the diet – but not the sweet tooth!
Feel better!
Doughnuts are the best! My mouth watered just THINKING about a mocha filled doughnut!
You have inspired me to blog about baking and today I made 4 dozen cake balls in the shape of Easter Eggs. That necklace would be a wonderful companion for the Brighton cupcake charm my sister gave me. Get well soon.
My first job was @ Dunkin’ donuts and we NEVER had donuts like these! I loved that job…even though I smelled like donuts for a long time. I only lasted 3 months….hey, I was 16 and clothes were more important than donuts :)
I love all donuts, especially jelly filled!! I would have killed for that red velvet one, yummy!!
First, glad you are feeling better! Me, I am a special ed teacher who just got pinked slipped but I’m still smiling since I have my health, my husband, and great kids and grandkids! Favorite donuts is maple frosting with peanuts. Easter, I’m lucky, I’m going to Denver, Colorado to spend it with my son and his wife in their new home! Family, that is almost as good as baking!
For easter, im making tiramisu and a ton of cake pops and taking it down to my local nursing home and to my nehgbours.. :)
I think I love your photography ALMOST as much as I love desserts. I work out just so I can eat sweets! You’re site inspires me and gets me giddy about baking things. I tried your lemon bars a while back….DE-VINE!
Something about me? Well, since donuts are on the mind I’ll think of something related. I moved to a small town in eastern Idaho almost 3 years ago from a bigger city and it’s such a long drive to any REAL shopping that sometimes I’ll buy my two little boys a doughnut for the trip home. I think it’ll be one of my fondest memories of being a mom when I get older.
I hope you are feeling much better. I read your link about organ donation. It really hits close to home. My sister was just put on the waiting list for a heart.
I am grateful for the fact that I am snowed under in essays, because it means that I have this amazing opportunity to study what I love. I was complaining today, and then I stopped and listened to myself, shook myself and observed, ‘wow, talk about first world problems, huh?’ I am a young woman who is able to study for a degree in a subject she loves. I am so lucky.
I have an absolute love affair with chocolate old fashioned donuts. Love them! Along with the cake donuts with pink frosting and sprinkles. :D I would probably turn a new leaf for some of those pictured in this post, though…
As for easter, I don’t think I have anything planned at all! How weird…
Something interesting about me: I work in a prison and I like to visit cute food sites on my time off to unwind and remember there are pretty things in life
I have been neglecting to clean my mixer for a while, so I finally did it today. It took 11 toothpicks and 2 paper towels, but it now looks brand new. Now excuse me while I go hunt down a donut recipe and make some:)
I had a pretty bad day today… My luck would definitely change if I got that cute neckless!
Got my fingers crossed!
How cute!! We go to Carolina Beach every summer and the best part of the trip is on the board walk is a place that makes homemade fried donughts right as you order them yummmm.
seriously cutest necklace ever!!! who doesn’t love doughnuts?
How sweet that is! Hmmm … .something about me, since I’ve yet to find one of my own, I love baking for the guys at work (a home improvement store). mainly because they’re ALWAYS grateful for ANYthing that comes outta my kitchen :)
I love donuts! Love em. Any kind. The way the dough smooshes and melts in your mouth, and you’re in pure sugar heaven…good thing there’s none close by!
How stinkin’ cute!! :D
After reading this I am really missing be near Atlanta so I can go and try some of these doughnuts. Hopefully later this spring I will be able to get there and try it, especially the dolce de leche one!
Thanks for the cool blog to read! : )
