Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
as an ATL resident, i will most definitely be checking out sublime. i’ve heard so many great things about it!
I’m 27 years old and I still make my husband make me an easter basket and leave it by my head while I’m sleeping so I see it first thing when I wake up. *sigh* He’s a sweetheart for putting up with me. ;)
I make him one too of course!
Well, While I’m not a HUGE doughnut fan, I have to say I Love love love Apple Fritters.
I mean the apple-cinnamony taste, and a sweet sugar glaze!! How could you go wrong?
I have dear frineds who have openned a delicious donut shop in Chatty! Julie Darling’s Donuts! Maybe if I can wear a cute one. I’ll stop eatting them ALL the time!
Doughnuts are my favorite food! My boyfriend knows that the way to my heart is a warm apple fritter in the morning.
wow those donuts looks amazing! I love the necklace, super cute!
This doughnut blog brought back such wonderful memories! My dad was the baker and I remember we had a doughnut cutter that was perfect for cutting the doughnut and the hole, out of biscuits. Then we would deep fry them and sprinkle them with powdered sugar, or cinnamon! Yum! Yum!
i love baking but i rarely eat the stuff i make because i’m onto the next baking project :)
Oh, Sweet Doughnut Joy! I really love doughnuts. A lot. Upon my move to New York City I went on a quest to find the best one around. I know the local best in my hometown, Tacoma, WA, but the perfect doughnut was elusive to me in the big city. I love a standard maple bar, which I still haven’t found yet. But for fancy shmancy doughnuts, it’s Donut Plant. For good, old standard doughnuts, you gotta try Donut Pub. But the mission was a reward in itself.
Awesome necklace! Favorite doughnut has to be a classic buttermilk maple bar.
glad to hear you are better!
I love doughnuts filled with cream or custard. Mmm!
I so glad to hear that you’re feeling better!
My favorite thing right now is from a local bakery: chocolate chocolate chip muffins. So freaking good! :)
I am SO afraid of flying if we’re talking about phobias… But I do love donuts!
Wow! All those pictures of donuts sure did make me want to fly to Atlanta for a few!!
My favorite donut flavor has always been the Cherry icing one.. I know, strange kid! But I also love those cinnamon twists ones!
Hope you are feeling better! We missed you!
My hubby gave me a tiffany’s necklace in the shape of a tiffany’s box for Valentine’s Day and I SO WANT THIS DARLING to complete my collection!!!!
spring is a time of renewal, and for me a time to give thanks. just a year ago i moved back home with my mother. and while for many people this would not be a treat, for me it is. four years ago my mother was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, and given a bleak prognosis. now she’s feeling well, and this last year living with her has been a blessing. i am thankful for her health, and for everybody elses. get well soon!
My very favorite kind of doughnut is still Krispie Kreme’s original glazed. They’re just SO GOOD when you take that first bite and they’re still warm and they just melt in your mouth and ugh, I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Very cute. I’m sorry you’ve been ill, I hope for a speedy recovery. Let’s see, something about myself? My first child is due to come in a week and a half and I am so anxious I just might scream!
I love a warm glazed doughnut and I love this blog!
Hi Bakerella,
I’m quite sure I must be your very first reader in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and definitely the first one from this country to write a comment on your blog. I discovered your blog recently and loved it so much that I did something I very rarely do. I tried one of your recipes, and then posted the link to my blog ( http://jeddahblog.livejournal.com/10461.html ). I even posted the pic of the Coraline Button Cookies on my facebook page and got loads of positive feedback and I’m sure many new readers for your amazing blog.
Your recipes are an inspiration and I’m toying with the idea of trying another recipe from your blog – I just can’t decide which one. I recently did a photography course and love your pics, so not only are you an inspiration for baking but for photography too.
Keep up the GREAT work! You are inspiring people all over the world x
The s’mores donut looks divine! I was craving s’mores just the other day.
A joke for the day-
A snail walks in a bar and the bartender says “No snails allowed!.” He picks up the snail and throws him out of the bar.
A week later, the snail comes back and says “What did you do that for?”
teehee
OMG those donuts look INCREDIBLE… And the necklace is SUPER cute! I am actually making a lamb-shaped cake for easter… My family used to have them when I was a kid (I’m sure one of the family members bought them at some bakery), and so I decided I’d do one this year. I’ve got the tin – now I just have to pretend I know what I’m doing when it comes to piping!
Cute. Something random about myself, I learned to speak Portuguese while living in Brazil for 2 years. :o)
wow…lots of competition for this necklace…oh well, count me in. My mouth was watering as I read your posst!
P.S> Hope you’re feeling better!!
The necklace is too cute! My daughter Audrey saw it and threw her hands up saying I want that… So does mommy =) Glad to hear you’re feeling better! Now I’m gonna run to the store to get me some doughnuts!
Those are tooooo adorable! So upset I don’t live near ATL anymore!! But today is MY BIRTHDAY!!! Maybe I can get lucky and get the pink one! Not only my favorite color but one of my favorite things – donuts! I was OBSESSED with the cartoon Alice when I was a kid…
Well besides being inspired by you and your pioneer friend. I love to bake and decorate sugar cookies than I get sad when one of my (works of art) are eaten…lol
Those doughnuts look wonderful! We’ve been getting ours from the local farmers market– they have the most amazing fresh doughnuts, filled or glazed. Such a fun treat on Saturday mornings :-)
I’m moving to Georgia in a couple of months. We might just have to swing through Atlanta for some doughnuts on our way to Savannah. :) Those look delicious!
Please enter me for the necklace! How adorable? Especially because I’m an awful sweet tooth! :) Thanks Bakerella! xoxo
Something random? I am now dating my very best friend. It’s one of those things you hope for, but don’t realize can happen to you. :)
too hard but i LOVEEE just the plain glazed ones!!
My favorite donut ever? That would have to be a chocolate covered donut with that Twinkie-like icing inside. But really, anything sounds wonderful given I’m 34 weeks pregnant and crave all donuts/carbs/sugar/general dessert-like naughtiness constantly….
I’m going to be trying Ree’s doughnut recipe very soon. (Pioneer Woman, of course.) I was all set to try this past weekend, but lo and behold I was out of yeast!! Dagnabit!
That necklace is almost as adorable as your cake pops. Swarovski should make a cake pop charm. ;)
Dawn :)
I HAVE THE WORST SEASONAL ALLERGIES KNOW TO MAN…! UGH. !!! :)
ENJOYED THE POST AND HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY !!! :)
I’m now considering Georgia for the family vacation this year LOL.
um, my favorite doughnut isn’t around any more! it was a dutch crumb doughnut from mr. dougnuts. mmmmm….cake doughnut w/ some sort of chocolatey/cinnamon topping. yum!
I was wondering if you were okay, I’m glad you’re feelin somewhat better. something about myself….I’m going to disneyland for the first time next week. A much needed break after building my first home for the last nine months.
that donut necklace is adorable. my favorite kind of donut is a boston cream pie one. it reminds me of eclairs. yum!
Its funny that you are talking about Sublime, because I was just reading about them a few months ago in the Georgia Tech Alumni magazine–think the owner is a Gt Grad, like myself. I too graduated from Tech, and now am a baker (mostly cookies and gingerbread houses, a few cakes) Its always interesting to see how people get into the baking industry. I did behavior therapy with children with autism for 7 years. I come from a long line of bakers, my Grandmother and mother both make the most beautiful wedding cakes that would give Martha Stewart a run for their money…..growing up I had no interest in it. Then one day, I became interested and started baking designer cookies. Casey-Mo’s Cookies, in Augusta (no website yet, but would love to send you some picts if you are interested)
Love your site, so cute!!
ps this Easter we are bringing my 4 month old son to SSI to spend it with my mom and grandmother!!
This Easter I get to travel to Utah to visit my sisters and to throw a baby shower for my little sister who is having her first baby! Yea! And I think I’ll stop and get some doughnuts while I’m running errands today….my mouth is watering!! Too bad I don’t live in Atlanta!!
This A-shaped doughnut is calling me….Is it because my name is Anne….That would be self-centered, wouln’t it be? Well…It’s an A-shaped donut with chocolate on top, I have the right to be self-centered.
Sublime Doughnuts don’t ship to France? No, well I need to book a flight to Georgia! ;) That could be my Easter plans.
H&Ks
Jywoi (aka Anne)
Hi
My name is Jaime, I live in Ontario, Canada.
I’ve been admiring your website for sometime now. You do amazing work. I love hosting parties for family and friends. Just recently I have done an Alice in Wonderland party for my oldest daughter Isabelle, she just turned 8. I am also planning a baby shower for my sister that is having her baby girl in April.
Keep up the great work and creative ideas.
Thanks,
Jaime
I love lemon-filled donuts. And it can’t be cream, it has to be like the lemon pie filling in little fruit pies! The only place that I’ve found that makes the ones I like is Krispy Kreme, and they just opened up a location near me, THANK GOODNESS!!
what a cute necklace.
I can’t eat doughnuts anymore.. It’s a sin I know and oh how I miss a good Krispy Kreme… I’m very grateful that my husband deployment will be over in a matter of a few shorts weeks!!
Mmmmm, donuts! My dad used to get up bright and early to buy us donuts every Sunday morning. My favorite has always been the maple bar. And I just adore this donut necklace, it’s super cute!
Thanks so much for the draw, and the (always) beautiful photography.
Something random about myself: I keep trying to go vegan, but the sweet sweet taste of cupcakes is my constant point of failure. Is there a word for “doesn’t do dairy or meat but does do cupcakes”?
I loved this post…fairly new to this blog and have to say, the doughnuts surely caught my attention. I feel sometimes I have an obsession with them that is a tad bit unhealthy but it seems you understand that there really is nothing better than a doughnut that has been done well…it stays on your mind forever!
We like doughnuts from Congdon’s in ME…it’s about 90 minutes away and while we do always make a day trip out of heading up that way, Congdon’s is at the top of the list as to why we go there. Maple cream doughnuts are my fave…but only from Congdon’s…if we’re not heading there for doughnuts, anything with white cream in it…don’t like the yellow custard, has to be the sicky sweet white cream!! : )
My favorite will always be chocolate icing with nonpareils. Delicioussss.
My weakness is maple bars! I LOVE them!
what an adorable necklace!
my favorite doughnut of all time is the twisty…. the plain doughnut twisted and covered in sugar! ahh.. loved them since I was a kid!
I LOVE THAT NECKLACE!!!
About me: I am a full time student and I home school my three kids, and recently, I began helping my oldest step-son by watching his 21 month old daughter…..
See? I really deserve a sparkly pretty donut necklace!!!
Baking is my guilty pleasure! I love the smells, the taste, the cozy feeling that it gives! And I love donuts!
LOve it! Soo fun.
I love the necklace!
I once made s’mores brownies and s’mores cupcakes, but never doughnuts!
This spring break, I’m volunteering at a camp and working with 4 and 5 year-old kids for a week. It’s exhausting!
Oh – I work down the street from Sublime and its so dangerous. I have to set myself rules about how often I can try donuts there…
My favorite is the apple fritter – its heaven.
OMG!!! I have to have this necklace!!!! It’s too cute!!!!
I need to lose 30 lbs. — and doughnuts aren’t helping. But this one isn’t bad!!!
Get better soon!
My first doughnut experience that I recall was at a place called Winchell’s. I would order their rainbow sprinkled doughnut and a LARGE fruit punch to wash it all down!
I like a traditional cake donut with sour cream glaze. Pretty boring, but I like the tried and true.
The necklace is beautiful!! This Easter cooking and having all the kids and grandchildren over. Making hash brown casserole, their favorite,
This Easter is going to be really special for my family…. It is our first Easter with our new baby boy Gavin. We will be going to church and taking our traditional Easter photo. We have done family photos on Eater sunday for the 32 years !
Oh and I LOVE doughnuts… would eat one at every meal if I would gain a hundred pounds.
And I love your website. I have just some many of your ideas!
I am spending this Easter with about 100 of the most amazing people. My CHURCH! We are having a drama, special music and lots of other fun stuff. I love Easter and all that it means!
beautiful!! glad you are feeling better
I LOVE donuts…I’m 36 weeks pregnant and I crave them nonstop! Those peanutbutter cup donuts looked amazing!
Our famiy recipe for chocolate doughnuts is my favorite of all times. My kids are all grown, but, Christmas morning to them is not Christmas morning without those doughnuts! And Mom is happy to put that smile on their faces!
I love donuts! I’m sad that the West Coast no longer has a Dunkin Donuts because my favorite was their chocolate honey dipped.
I’m an organ donor.
I’m from Canada, so I’m a big fan of Tim Horton’s vanilla dip donuts… Probably the tastiest little treat I can get on my way home from work…
As for Easter… I’m going home to see some family and my little baby cousins..
Pretty sure I want to go to Atlanta… just for donuts now…
I think we share the same weakness. I have a box of donuts on my desk that one of my vendors brought in this morning, they are so hard to resist.
I’m glad you’re back and feeling better. I missed your post last week.
Thanks for sharing your world with me!
How funny today’s feature is doughnuts, I had the most scrumptious handmade mini doughnuts on Friday in Old Sacramento. The were the most delicious doughnuts I’ve ever tasted! The man making them on a small cart came up with the recipe himself and has some fancy setup where he pumps the smell out onto the street to make people start drooling and come inside to buy them. They are absolutely delicious, I think I’m drooling just remembering them. :)
i love a good bowtie donut – its like a glazed thats twisted and has cinnamon in it. yummmmm…
LOVE donuts! Most any kind. I’m not too picky. Except nutty ones.
Celebrating Easter at my sister’s with the fam….nothing too exciting. No little kids in our family any more except there will be next year – my daughter is expecting – woohoo!
Something random : I got up to talk in church on Sunday and sounded like a dork !! lol I love blueberry filled donuts and cream filled ones !
The doughnuts look amazing. I might just have to make a trip to try them. My favorite doughnut is anything creme filled.
I love the necklace. It’s so cute! My favorite donut is an apple fritter……..I guess they are a donut. Gotta have a cup or two of coffee.
Oh my, I’m really wishing I lived closer to Atlanta right about now. Those doughnuts look yummy!!! And I think I’d be in love with the Smore flavor if I could try it. But for now I just stick to plain and boring chocolate glazed doughnuts.
My favorite donut place is The Donut Whole in Wichita, KS. Lots of unique donut flavors.
I love donuts and have never found a place like you are describing. To die for!
Thank goodness you’re okay! I’m glad that you had a good doughnut party :)
Cute, cute, cute! And I love doughnuts. Glazed cinnamon twists, vanilla frosted cake donuts and long-johns are some of my favs. Guilty pleasure right now – can’t wait for GLEE to start up again on TV. Love it!
For Easter, I will be going over to my sister in law’s house and feasting on chicken soulvaki with tzatziki sauce. MMMMM….
I don’t know what my favorite doughnut is…I’m an equal opportunity doughnut lover!
I LOVE spring time!
These look absolutely fantastic! I would love to make doughnuts, I don’t think I have ever tried, I’m going to give it a try now. Then again, that may be a bad idea, I’ll probably end up eating them all!! I think plain with a chocolate glaze are my favorite at the moment. But to be honest I don’t think we have sophisticated doughnuts down here… hmmm.
I am sooo glad that you’re feeling better, take care!!!!!
I am graduating law school in May. All I really want to do is drop out and open a bakery.
That necklace is sooo appropriate for you! I love it!
I love dougnuts!!! That neckace is toooo cute!! Let’s see…this Easter will start off with a wonderful church service followed by my family coming over and I will have hid probably close to 300 eggs!! Good times!! Fun times!!!
Glad that you are feeling better!! I LOVE your website!!!!
Phobia… I am extremely afraid of fish. Dead, alive, cooked, or in stick form… keep them away!! It’s called ichthyophobia. I just can’t handle them! lol
but I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE doughnuts. I couldn’t survive if I had trypophobia, a fear of holes! :)
I love the doughnut necklace and the doughnuts. I am looking forward to Easter with my 2.5 year old. Perfect age for egg coloring. Thanks.
I’m having my second baby boy on Friday. 1) I’m excited to meet him. 2) I’m excited to have my body to myself.
My favorite doughnut is original glazed, but I am also partial to the little ones that you can get at farmer’s markets, made fresh from the fryer.
I am grateful for my husband, friends, family, and being in good health. :) Thank you for the giveaway!
After church on the Sunday…This year we’ll be baking with my daughter, decorating eggs, having the traditional easter egg hunt at our house and both grandma’s and then rolling into a sugar coma after pigging out on goodies. We love Easter!
i had doughnuts this weekend- the best kind! The kind where your boyfriend sneaks out early and gets them with a side of coffee, and a sprinkle one just for you :)
yuummmmmmmm
So glad you’re feeling better! I’m wishing I lived near Atlanta – do you think they ship to Calgary?! Those look amazing!
My favorite doughnuts would be the Aut Mori doughnuts. As in the “Aut Mori Grotto Circus”. Every year when the circus came to town, that coincedentally happened to be held in my high school fieldhouse (gymnasium), the Aut Mori people would set up shop in the health class room and make doughnuts. All kinds. Fresh. And from scratch. And did I say, AMAZING! My favorite was apple cinnamon. I used to sneak out of class to go sneak doughnuts. I really wish I was eating one now!
I love checking your blog each week! Your give-a-ways are so fun too! Here it goes.. I’m grateful for my husband who allows me to be me with all the hustle and bustle of hobbies, volunteer hours, events, and being a host family.
wow didn’t know you were sick but i’m glad you are feeling better:)….remember an apple away keeps the doctor away.
those doughnuts look yummy! but I wonder how do they fill them….?
and the necklace is cute :)
if you were wondering there are 135 little diamonds….
not :)
okay I’ll tell you a little about me…
I live in Mexico… and I never thought I would love cooking as much as I do now… when I was learning how to cook eggs the egg fell to the floor…mayor fail, so I thought I wasn’t made to cook, but now cooking is my life and you inspire me everyday!
I don’t have a favorite doughnut…every doughnut is yummy!
(specially if they have chocolate)
i love chocolate doughnutssssss!yam!
yam!
I love the inspired donuts with wonderful fillings! Thanks for sharing with us…
Easter, would not be Easter without making Hot Cross Buns. My fav recipe is from Martha – the one that was her Mom’s recipe.
Happy Easter!
Glad to hear you are feeling better . Take what ever time you need to be well. :> You know us, we are happy to wait for your blog updates that inspire and entertain..
I’m so sorry you haven’t been feeling well and did miss you while you were in the hospital!
You asked us to tell you only one thing about ourselves to be entered in your contest, but I’m going to cheat a little and tell you two…
It is with a grateful heart that I decided to become an organ donor a few months ago. My brother-in-law developed liver disease three years ago and two years ago was placed on a waiting list for a liver transplant. Knowing what he was going through as he waited for a liver made me decide that I would sign-up and become a potential donor. Our prayers were answered at the end of February when my b-i-l received a wonderful healthy donor liver. He continues to recuperate in the hospital and we’re hoping he’ll be home for Easter. I pray that many more people will be motivated to give the gift of life as you and other’s tell their stories of successful organ transplants.
The second thing I wanted to tell you is that I love doughnuts, and I think I’m going to have to plan a trip to Atlanta to visit Sublime Doughnuts to sample one or twenty.
I come from Israel and we LOVE doughnuts, we eat them as part of celebrating Hanukka (aren’t we lucky?).
My favourite would be plain with strawberry jelly in the middle and icing sugar – straight from the pan.
That necklace makes me think of Homer Simpson! One of my first memories is actually sitting on a stool at the counter of the local doughnut place next to my Mom.
Glad that you are feeling better and I hope you are up and aroung again soon!
Something about me is that my cure for any ill is black licorice! I know, it’s a love it or hate it kind of candy, but I’m a lover!
I was just thinking about my husband, who called me from work to ask if I wanted him to bring me home a giant cookie! I am so grateful I have him- He makes me feel special in so many ways!!! And he likes to pig out with me, which is always a plus!
Thanks, Bakerella. Now I have to order these donuts. xox!
Awesome post! That necklace is so delectable! As far as doughnuts go, I’m a “love the one you’re with” type of girl… my favorite doughnut is the one I’m eating, whatever the flavour!
I’m not really a lover of doughnuts, but we have one shop here in KY that makes me “go nuts for doughnuts.” I really just love their plain glazed circles of dough, but they also have great blueberry and pumpkin doughnuts as well.
Thanks for linking back to your post about your “sweet sixteen, or second birthday.”
My brothers and I accidentally dropped a fresh baked batch of donuts in front of Krispy Kreme. They were destroyed instantly and smashed themselves all together in the corner of the box. My parents went back to buy a new batch, but they probably shouldn’t have. By the time they came back, we had eaten every last scrap of the gooey dough pile. It was the best thing I’ve ever eaten.
My favorite kind of doughnut is sugar twist but I would love to try the ones you posted about. Red velvet? YUM!
so cute! I’m a bavarian cream filled donut lover, myself, but ,y girls, well, they”ll take a glazed donut with sprinkles any day of the week. :)
I make cakes, and I love it!
In college, I used to go to an apple orchard every fall. They had the most to-die-for apple donuts — fresh and hot from the kitchen! Those apple donuts will always be my favorite… :) Krispy Kreme comes close, but the apple flavor is just so delectable…
There is a doughnut place near my house called stardust doughnuts….BEST cinnamon roll doughnut ever.
I am thankful for the people in my life-family, friends, co-workers. They have supported me throughout my life and I am forever grateful.
Favorite donut: Bostom Creme Pie
I’m cheating this Passover (don’t tell anyone). I’m experimenting with cupcake flavors and I have a whole bunch in my kitchen right now, which is a big no-no (no leavened products allowed during Passover). I have Pineapple with mango filling and passion fruit buttercream. I have Orange-Lemon with lemon buttercream. I have almond with raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream. AND I have pomegranate with chocolate buttercream. Want to come for a tasting??
This Easter my roommate and I are making brunch for our friends!
I miss going to Krispy Kreme at midnight and splitting a dozen hot doughnuts with friends.
Hmmm … something surprising … I don’t really like chocolate {I know, I know . . . what kind of woman am I?} but I have this recipe for brownies that I LOVE. In fact, I’m itching to make them . . . . . . . . . :D
Goodness gracious I want me some donuts now. I love those buttermilk ones, I guess they’re old fashioned? With maple icing please. Yum.
Glad you’re doing better.
Old school plain cake donuts. YUM!
As this is a donut themed entry, then I’ll have to say my favorite donut! Frankly… it can change depending on what goodness is placed before me (and if I’m pms’ing… those chocolate covered chocolate donuts with chocolate chip ones from dunkin donuts work well!)… but my “go-to” flavor would be simply glazed!
Happy Easter Everyone! My favorite kind of doughnuts are ones that my husband goes out to buy for us on Sunday mornings so I don’t have to cook breakfast!
Like you, I’m thankful for the generous gift of others. My dad is also a kidney transplant recipient. He’s about to celebrate his 14th anniversary. I thank God every single day that someone was thoughtful enough to give of themselves to allow my dad to still be here.
I am going on a cross country road trip with my sister this Easter…we are calling it “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”
I’m grateful that Christ died for our sins only to rise again!
Oh, my favorite doughnut must be a blueberry cake doughnut with a thin glaze. YUM YUM!
why oh why can’t i be super skinny and eat everything i want??? i guess you can’t gain weight off of “wearing” a doughnut…the next best thing to eating it!!! love the necklace
I have to say………..I love your website, you make me smile with all your creations. Thanks for the donut post, donuts make me smile………..they make me fat too, but smiles are what I prefer to think about. LOL
My favorite donut would have to be……………any and all. It just happens to be what I’m in the mood for on any given day. Don’t think there ARE any bad donuts. LOL
I have the two most precious daughters in the world.
The best donuts in my area come from Breen’s. My favorite is their Sour Cream Frycake with glaze! They are sooo yummy! crisp on the outside and soft and cakey on the inside!
Even better still warm, YUM!
luv vanilla frosted donuts but only with sprinkles and the sprinkles have to be rainbow!
Adorable. Those donuts really do look sublime. I mean, really. I think I’d pass out just from sheer excitement to try the s’mores and peanut butter cup ones!
I absolutely love your blog and I love donuts. It’s sad but I feel like every day, I crave some variation of a maple bar or old fashioned. Those get me every time.
I love doughnuts. Even though we lived in an area that had Krispy Kreme doughnuts for about 3 years… I don’t think I ever had one. How did I manage that? doh

Everytime we go to the grocery store, my little 4 year old has to have a doughnut. I cave almost everytime because I love the chocolate-y smile he gives me after enjoying his little doughnut!
Dangerous donughts! Kinda wishing I could have a donught party but then glad i don’t live in Atlanta otherwise I would weigh about 200 more pounds!!!
Now I am going to crave donughts all day…
So cute! My favorite guilty pleasure is See’s chocolates, especially the truffles.
A doughnut relative from South Africa – a “koeksister” is by far my favourite the next runner up a Tim Hortons Curler!
I would totally wear that necklace and I am a boy :) My first job was at a Doughnut shop in Lafayette, Indiana. The same shop where my mom had coffee every morning before work with her friends to do the daily puzzles and the same shop we were taken to as a small treat if we were good! Sadly, I also worked the morning when w/o notice I was told that when I closed today..it was for good! ahh Memories!
I’ve recently stumbled upon your blog and I’m so glad that I did. Thank you for sharing all of your great ideas, recipes, photos, and tips with us. Can’t wait for your book to come out!
I am Canadian…. lol
I have a daughter who’s birthday is this Sunday which happens to be Easter Sunday. She would love this necklace.
I am glad you are back home. I miss your posts but you need to take care of yourself.
Happy Easter Bakerella and Get well soon.
If I were a sprinkle doughnut, I would eat myself.
Glad you are feeling better . . . no fun being sick and also it doesn’t allow time for baking!!! My favorite donuts are maple bars, yum!!!
I love making Easter treats and sharing with family & friends!
Happy Easter!
So glad you’re better! you’ve been my baking muse for over a year now :) lots of love!

OMG! Isn’t that just the cutest or what! Gotta have it ! Hope I win..this whole post makes me want a donut! :)
now.
I love donuts, pink and jewels. I’m sure they make a fabulous combination!!
When I’m bored… I like to bake. My fiance has a “love/hate” relationship with my baking!
Those donuts are so cute! I wish we had bakeries around here that did that sort of stuff.
I am thankful for my siblings, my parents whose hard work enables me to attend college, and my lovely roommates.
My favorite kind of donut is sprinkled with white frosting. I absolutely love it, too bad I gave up sweets for Lent and haven’t been able to have one in so so long!
This necklace would quench my cravings for sure :]
I’m in love with the doughnut necklace! This week to prepare for Easter I will be baking delicious sugar cookies with my two little “assistants”. :-)
Love Lemon filled doughnuts!!
the donut with the peanuts looks so scrumptious.
oooh that necklace is sooo cool…
i’ve never seen something like that!!
OMG!!! I WANT THAT NECKLACE!!! I HOPE I WIN =)
Phobias…spiders!!! And needles. We’ve been trying to conceive for almost 4 years…lots of needle torture. And I have a thyroid issue so even more needle torture. In fact, I’m in the waiting room waiting for this batch of blood stealing right now!!! Yuck!!!!
That necklace is tooooo cute! I love doughnuts.. the ones filled with custard are my absolute favorite!
really you had to show the center of the Boston creme! It’s my favoirte….hold on I think I drooled :) they all look yummy I’m glad you were able to find your A again! I’m so glad you are out of the hospital and hopefully feeling better. Organ donation is so important! I’m in the throws of spring fever, lots of baking bunnies, carrots and chicks and just love that the sun is shining and the birds are chirping and loving that spring is here! Hope you have a wonderful day :) You deserve it.
i OWN 231 PAIRS OF SHOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yummmm. I want all of these. My favorite donut is an old fashioned chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting.
I wish I had a donut right now.
Those look amazing. I have an extreme sweet tooth!
glad you are on the mend!!!
my favorite doughnut is a chocolate long john. for some reason, in michigan they all come creme-filled which i am not the biggest fan of, but a chocolate long john is a chocolate long john. yummy!
I’m so happy you’re feeling better now! And donuts are my weakness too, my favorite being a bavarian cream chocolate eclair :)
This Easter is going to be extra special since my brother in law is getting married this weekend too :)
I avoid donuts like the plague…
Unless there’s a custard filled chocolate donut lying around from Krispy Kreme… (:
After seeing that necklace I’m thinking up ways to convince my husband that Easter is a jewelry-giving holiday as well! =)
So cute! I am now heading out into town to investigate what amazing donuts we have here. I have always been a fan of a good boston cream donut, but I am ready to branch out. Perhaps a yummy smores one?
Those are the best looking doughnuts ever! I worked in a grocery store bakery in high school and those don’t do donuts justice! Mmmmm!
i have multiple gallstones and i’m looking forward to have it surgically removed so i can eat all the yummy stuff again! :-)
I never liked donuts until my donut-loving boyfriend influenced me to have my first freshly made, warm, Krispy Kreme recently. Life changing event!
The town that we moved from had an amazing donut shop called square donuts….just the better yeast donuts ever! How I miss them :(
omg. that is the cutest necklace i have ever seen. let’s see – we’re dough-nuts around here. sunday morning is not complete without a trip to Grebe’s Bakery. my doughnuts are more of the “normal variety” but i pride myself in learning the doughnut names. i did not know they had specific names. my favorite is a crueler. mmm. dunked in coffee. hubby”s is a honeymooner. my girls love glazed with sprinkles. :) now…i am craving a doughnut or two.
oooh!!! i want that necklace!! SPECIALLY SINCE IM A DONUT LOVER!!!!!!! GO JELLY FILLED DONUTS!!!!!!!
So glad you’re feeling better! Since I can’t pick my favorite doughnut flavor, I’ll have to tell you something interesting about me. My middle name is Pendragon. And, it’s not a family name. My parents were hippies and my mom “just liked the name”. Um, yeah.
Anyway, I think that a Sublime Doughnut give-away would be great! (Hint, hint.) But I’ll settle for that beautiful necklace.
I have family coming for Easter, so I’m trying to decide what sweets to bake. One of my signatures are cut-out sugar cookies with a glaze-type icing. Easter means lots of cute cookie cutter shapes and pastel colors. Maybe I’ll do some cute cupcakes too.
I have never met a donut a didn’t like and I absolutely LOVE that Swarovski one! I am glad to hear you are on the mend. I missed your posts.
Uh Doughnuts all I have to say is thank goodness the nearest Krispy Kreme is an hour away or I’d die from a doughnut coma!
As for things about me favorite guilty pleasure has to been The Tudors on tv and a bowl of vanilla swiss almond and I’m one happy camper. One more secret I have this unwavering wish to see Scotland and I have no idea why.
I love doughnuts. When I was a kid, once in a while we would get the Hostess dozen that had 3 plain cake, 3 powdered sugar, 3 chocolate, and 3 cinnamon. I loved the cinnamon the best.
Yesterday my sister and I ran ten miles, (we are training for a marathon). Afterwards we had ice cream and donuts for lunch!
Not sure if it’s actually true, but I’ve heard that it takes up to 7 days until a doughnut is fully digested after you have eaten it. I know, kind of gross – but totally worth it!
Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.
DONUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i want donuts!! yum yum yum!!!!!
I hate peas. Doesn’t matter how many different ways I try them, I still don’t like them!

The donut gods must have wanted you to find these amazing creations from Atlanta! I tasted each and every one as the photos scrolled down my screen and ohh “how delicious”!! My eyes were completely satisfied! My indulgence? Besides a donut…..a warm fudgy brownie with coffee ice cream, toasted almonds and fresh whipped cream. mmmmmmm
Im glad you’re feeling better… I would feel better if I had a twisted glazed donut… and a pink donut necklace.. =)
I cannot remember the last time I’ve eaten a doughnut! And I reeallllllly feel like I’m missing out now!
The oreo one looks the best!
Something about myself….well when I was in the 3rd grade I learned how to recite the alphabet backwards from z-a & I can still do it today….my husband & kids think it’s weird but I think it’s pretty cool…I mean how many other people can do that, without having to stop & think which letter comes next…anyone?
Where I live, there is a donut shop on every corner. And it’s my weakness!!! They have this one, like an apple fritter, stuffed with banana cream, and coated in toasted coconut. So. Good.
OMG!!! Such a beautiful necklace!!! ME WANT DONUT NECKLACE!!!!!!
wow! i want that necklace for my wife!
I love those necklaces! So jealous of those donuts! I don’t know anywhere around town where they make ones like those! Pick me for the necklace please! Great Easter present!
I’m glad your feeling better! I check this website every day and I was getting worried when there were no new posts!
that necklace looks beautiful.. great gift for your loved one.
You can make doughnuts at home?! Haha, if I win this necklace I will try my hand at actually making some doughnuts!
Donuts = me going crazy
Donut Necklace = me going EXTRA crazy
I heart the necklace! My shorties are donut freaks and my sweet baby girl would LOVE it!!! :-)
I am terribly afraid of the empty nest that I’m about to experience.
We just had some of goodies like these this weekend. I think this would be a great gift from the Easter Bunny to an Easter Bunny wink wink. Hopefully he hops my way! I am a person who tries to make a new goodie for my son’s school and this Easter we will be making cupcakes with the bunnies and duckies on top and some rice krispies eggs dipped in chocolate and sprinkles.
