Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
I like really unique gourmet doughnuts – like, creme brulee, PB&J, orange, vanilla bean, etc. There’s just something comforting about a good doughnuts. It’s worth every calorie.
Something about myself….I learned in 3rd grade how to recite the alphabet backwards from z-a & I can still do it…my husband & kids think it’s weird but I think it’s cool – I mean really how many people can do that without messing up & without having to think about which letter comes next…anyone?
I refuse to admit how many pairs of shoes I own.
Therefore, my favourite doughnut flavour is…well, we don’t have that many flavours here in New Zealand. But I’m gonna say the old school cinnamon and sugar ones we had when i was a kid.
And…..Now I want a doughnut.
i loved this post! that smore doughnut looked amazing!! my personal favorite doughnut is a chocolate one, with chocolate frosting, and rainbow sprinkles!! :)
Those doughnuts make me want to fly to Atlanta just to try them. Yummy!
My absolute favourite though is plain glazed fresh baked from the local bakery. There’s something perfect about it’s simplicity.
My favourite doughnuts are the ones with sprinkles on top and strawberry filling inside, mmmm :D
My brother, a chef, died almost 10 years ago. He was the kind of person who could walk into your kitchen and look in your fridge and cupboard and make you something to eat that was so mouth wateringly divine that you couldn’t resist it. I wish he had made a cookbook. It would have been the best! He used to make me chocolate decadence cheesecake for my birthday… someday I hope to find a recipe that is close to as good. I’ve tried several and have yet to find one.
I just LOOOOOVE glazed donuts!!!!!! Pop one in the microwave for a few secs.. and you’re in for it.
My favorite doughnut is from Steve’s bakery in Ottawa, IL. it is a chocolate long john with vanilla cream filling. UMMM heaven!
OMG, that donut is so cute and I am wanting to take a trip to Sublime! WOW!!! Those look SO yummy!!! My favorite kind of donut is weird, especially when I am pregnant. I LOVE gas station donuts! And I really only want them at the end of the day after they have sat in the case all day. Yes, I know it is really weird, but have sent my hubby many times to the corner gas station at 8pm at night (they are half price then!) to get me a couple! It’s probably a good thing we are done having kids!! YUM!!!
My mom used to work for a doughnut place when she was a teenager, and she always talked about how it sparked her interest in baking, she would love that necklace! Great post, who doesn’t love doughnuts?!
I love me some donuts…and necklaces, too!
My whole family loves doughnuts…especially the hot, fresh, sweet, and simple yet decadent glazed ones from Krispy Kreme. Unfortunately, the nearest Krispy Kreme store is over an hour away, but it’s definitely worth the drive.
Though the s’more doughnut and the orange dream star shown in the pictures look delicious too.
And on a different note…I’m scared of heights (acrophobia), and I’ve recently become scared of glass (hyalophobia–what an interesting word). A couple months ago, I was cleaning out the fishbowl (which was made of glass), when it suddenly shattered into several pieces and cut my hand. Since then, I’ve been wary around handling glass and other sharp objects…
I love DonutLand’s decadent creme-filled long johns. I have one per year.
I live in the ATL and have never heard of this magical doughnut shop! I must try that A doughnut and pass it along to my Crazy A town friends. Thanks for the info!
Those donuts look amazing! I wished I lived closer to Atlanta.
Plus that’s the cutest necklace =)
Monday’s should be filled with delicious treats such as donuts since its so painful to come back work!
how adorable! I have to get myself to Atlanta….. I wonder if they ship?
Love you Bakerella!
My favorite doughnut is a Chocolate Cruller! But I would love to go to Sublime and have a Red Velvet :)
This Easter I am spending the day at church with my mom and then at my step-kids, mom’s dads house……complicated, right? They have had a tough time of it and need all the family around that they can.
I am blessed!
Glad you’re feeling better!
Favorite donut is boston creme or just plain glazed depending on where I am.
This Easter I will be hanging out with my family and doing some baking with my 7 and 4 year nephews. (they wanted to surprise their parents with some goodies and I am all for anything that allows me a legitimate reason to bake).
I love your site and finally made cupcake bites for a party. They were a hit! Thanks for your inspiration!
I love Krispy Kreme’s chocolate covered creme filled doughnut!
This Easter I’m going out to a park with my family. Its a tradition we do every year. We all bring eggs and the kids have a huge Easter egg hunt in the woods and the adults do an egg toss. One year a long time ago before I was born a news crew actually came out because the family was out in a foot of snow still eating and celebrating together. Idk if it was actually a foot but that’s how everyone tells the story. :)
Something about me. Since I work in a faith based environment… Easter is usually crazy busy for me with extra work.
BUT i look at those easter pops and am tempted to let the Crazy that is knocking at my door come in by making a batch of them and inviting others over to my house for an Easter party.
Maybe I’ll just drop by Tim Hortons (Canadian Dunkin’ Donuts) for a maple dip and ponder my options!
My favorite flavor is Krispy Kreme’s cheesecake doughnut. Heaven! And they’re a NC company, to boot! Bless your heart, Bakerella, I’d bring you one if I could after hearing you were feeling “poorly.”
; )
What a cute necklace! I would say my favorite donut is just a plain cake one with chocolate frosting. BTW, when I was in college, I had to give a persuasive speech. I did it on the importance of organ donation. I am glad you are feeling better, and like someone else posted, am thankful you take the time to share your knowledge with us.
What I want to know is if these doughnuts can be shipped across the country. I want to try the red velvet ones! But mostly, I’m a glazed kinda girl.
Excited for Easter! Having family for brunch.
I am grateful for: your blog, beautiful donuts, and stuffing easter baskets for my seven kids! Happy Easter!
MMM…..Doughnuts! My favorite is just a plain old cake with sprinkles. Getting hungry just thinking about it!
I hope you’re feeling better and getting some rest! I’ll have to go to Sublime Doughnuts the next time I’m in GA. The necklace is adorable!
Special talent? I found out today that I can do a pretty convincing elephant sound with my mouth. As a teacher, I find all sorts of strange ways to get the attention from twenty 7 year olds each day.
Doughnuts though…..I LOVE irish cream filling with oreo topping. HEAVEN.
I am grateful to God for the gift of my beautiful daughter Haley, she is the love of my life. After 16 years of the doctors telling me I would never have children, I was graced with her, she is now 4 years old and the most precious gift one could ask for!
I’m still drooling over the peanut butter cup one! Glad you are feeling better!
Oh my goodness thats the cutest necklace ever!
Just tell me something about yourself- I am a closet case cook/baker. I love to cook and bake and even more eat it, really I do. I hate the cleanup so I nevef cook. Downside of having been the “dishwashing machine” your whole life.
Your favorite doughnut flavor? – Boston creme from Tim hortons. Hands down, best dough nut ever!
Something you’re grateful for?- My horses. I do feed them timbits (donut holes from Tim hortons) they love them.
What you’ll be doing this Easter?- Spending it riding my horses, doing an East Indian wedding with my horse and hopefully with my man if he can make it over.
Some usual or unsusual talent you have?- I am a woman of many, many talents. Right now I have been braiding horse hair jewelry and it’s become a huge hit with my blog followers.
How many pair of shoes you own? Shoes, 3 pairs. Boots….11? 15? 25? Wait I lost count.
Phobias? – I can’t say I have any really. However I shreik like a little girl when I see mr. legs (AKA Centipedes, the 36483285647 hairy legs get to me every time)
Favorite guilty pleasure?- Spending too much money on my horses and indulging in too many donuts when they are fresh at tim hortons. That is when I go into the city to get them.
There’s nothing like a delicious doughnut from a hometown bakery. I always make a stop at Weber’s Bakery in Lodi when I’m home, they have THE best caramel doughnuts. Mmmm, makes me hungry for one just thinking about it. What could be better than a doughnut necklace?! And it’s my favorite color- pink!
Glad to hear you’re feeling better, take care.
Laurie
What a sweet post!! That Oreo donut is the one I want! I’m glad you are doing better. I missed you here last week! Thank you for sharing your story. My very dear MIL is on dialysis now and waiting for a kidney. It is so hard to watch her struggles. It makes me extra-thankful for my own health!
Taste vision needs to be invented ASAP!
Ohhhhhhh… a donut place in Atlanta! I just moved here, so my sweet tooth and I thank you for this find!! I cannot wait to try it out. And for the record, there are almost no donuts that aren’t my best friend.
My all time favorite doughnut is cake with chocolate icing and colored sprinkles. Yum! :)
I recently moved to Taiwan from the States and reading your website somehow always makes me feel like I’m “home”. Your cake pops originally drew me in, but now I want to make every single thing you have on here!! It’s just hard finding all the materials here :o( I can’t wait for your book to come out; definitely having my friends send me a copy or two! :o) Thanks for the joy you bring to our lives, Bakerella!!
I am grateful to God for the gift of my daughter Haley, she is the love of my life. At about the age of 16 my doctor told me I would never have children, at 32 I had my daughter, she just turned 4 in December!
I love Bismarks, creamy custard inside and rich chocolate on top. Mmm. Did you know of all the donuts the cruller has the least calories.
Phobias…people dressed in commercialized characters costumes (ie, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Chuck E. Cheese, sporting mascots) eek, super creepy.
My daughter is all about Alice in Wonderland right now and this would look so cute on her.
Thanks
Tina
Love the necklace, my fav donut is raspberry filled from Krispy Kreme, u can’t beat it! Anyway, glad u are feeling better, take it easy and rest a while!
My guilty pleasure are doughnuts!!! I love doughnuts.. i can have one, two, three!! :) I can have them any time of the day! yumm yumm yumm. now looking at your post, i must get dressed and go snatch myself one :)
ps. glad you’re doing better!
My favorite doughnut…only cake doughnuts do it for me!
I’m so glad to hear that you’re doing alright!
As for me, I’m going home for Easter weekend to spend time with my family and my boyfriend. And my cat :)
omg i don’t even care about the necklace.
I’M JUST GLAD TO KNOW YOU’RE OK!!!
:) feel better! my thoughts and prayers are with you!!
the lady i nanny for (one of my best friends as well) is awaiting a new liver so I know what struggles you have/do go through. Organ donation is SO important and everybody needs to be a donor. In other news, I tried to make cake pops last week and failed miserably..i dont know what I did wrong but I was so so sad :(
The donuts look amazing!
I, too, had surgery two weeks ago…I had my tonsils out. Very painful, slow recovery for an adult.
My favorite donut flavor is cherry cake donut. I look forward to when I can eat them again….a few more weeks of Jell-o and Ensure for me!
The necklace is glorious!
My favorite doughnut is a chocolate long-john with sprinkles. I know pretty basic but the BEST! =]
I make a bunny cake every Easter and I love cake donuts
I wish I had a donut right now…
LOVE the necklace! How adorable!
My favorite flavor of donut is a good old fashioned Maple Bar chased down by a big glass of milk… Mmmmmmmmmm!
Cute necklace…thanks for the chance to win it! I would have to say my favorite donut is the Bacon Maple Bar from Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR. It’s a must-have! Perfect combo of sweet and salty :)
My first daughter is expecting her first daughter any day now. I will be meeting a miracle this Easter.
Yumm! Those donuts look amazing!! My favorite would be a simple chocolate frosted.
love…Love…LOVE….your website!
and mmmmmmmmmmmmm donuts……….sour cream glaze is my favourite…..
I am grateful to be having a healthy baby boy this easter season…and I LOVE doughnuts!!
Happy Easter! I’m so glad you’re home and feeling better. Thanks for your generous giveaway and the chance to win. My husband donated bone marrow a year ago last Christmas. It was an amazing experience.
Just reading this post made my mouth water. But I am in agony right now!! I live in Texas….*sniff sniff* I wish we had someplace like Sublime down here! I might have to try to be crafty and make some of these myself!! Love your blog! And those necklaces are to dang cute!!
I’m getting married tomorrow and my surname will no longer be Cake!! (Seriously!)
Stopped by Sublime on Sunday and sampled the doughnuts this morning. Delish. Disappointed by the lack of variety but it was late Sunday. Look forward to trying the red velvet the next time I’m in Atlanta.
I don’t have anywhere near me that has doughnuts as fancy as that. So I’d have to say my favorite is a glazed Krispy Kreme. But that mocha doughnut looks like it is TO DIE FOR.
First, I am glad you are feeling better! Second, those donuts look oh-so-heavenly!
My guilty pleasure is making cakeballs! I am hooked! I was worried about what to do with my time as I recently became a 3 day a week stay at home mom, but everyone is loving them! i can’t stop!!
My name is Rachel and I was born with no cartilage in my nose. I can flatten it all the way, smoosh it to one side or the other, and it always bounces back into shape. How’s that for the most random statement ever?! ;)
guilty pleasure: Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious.
As I started reading this entry all I thought was WOW she’s going to give us a recipe on Baking Doughnuts!!! My sister gave up sweets for lent. For the last 30 something days all I have been hearing her say is I WANT A DOUGHNUT! She rarely ever eats doughnuts but I guess since she hasn’t had any sugar the sweetest thing she can think of is a DOUGHNUT! Im in charge of baking for Easter this year and when I saw doughnuts I thought PERFECT! I am going to give my sister what she has been craving for all along! I would love to gift my sister the swarovski doughnut necklace! I think its fitting for her! She hasn’t had any sugar for 30 + days, a little reminder of her struggle around her neck would be a fun little reward, don’t you think?
I hope you are feeling a lot better and get back to your 110% self sooner then later!
PS I want to visit Atlanta just for these AMAZING doughnuts! YUM YUM YUM!
Very Truly Yours,
Andrea Galvez
acgalvez@gmail.com
I was having a bad work day today so I went to Starbuck’s and bought myself a latte and a bad day brownie. I think this necklace would also help my day! Also, I’m glad you’re better. :)
I’m so glad you’re feeling better. I missed you! I’ve become a diet queen, donuts are no longer in my vocabulary…though I think I gained 3 lbs just looking at these! YUM!! Maybe I gave up donuts, but I sure didn’t give up shoes – got a chuckle when you wrote that comment. You are speaking to a shoe addict…I can’t count how many…just know I usually come home with a new pair weekly!! :) Good thing I’m not married – don’t have to report that to husband, huh!?! :)
Chocolate Old-fashioned are my donuts of choice. But when I’m feeling whimsical, I like donuts with pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles. Oh, and then there’s the crumb donuts…and what about the maple ones? ; )
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been sick! Hope you are on the mend! Every year my for my husband’s family reunion they have a dessert contest. The first couple years in the family (we’ve been married 8 years) I didn’t really go all out, just made somethign i knew tasted good for the contest. One year my ‘entry’ won. Every year after that they expect me to bring something fabulous! ; ) I didn’t one year and got in trouble by all my husbands Aunts.. they let me know they were disappointed I didn’t dazzle them! So every year i have to figure out something new and fun to surprise them with! We have such a great time!
Oh what a pretty necklace!
Here’s something about myself:
I’m a lab manager at the Genetics lab at the National Zoo in DC and I love to bake. I’ve showed off my skills to my fellow scientists here and they love the recipes I’ve made from your site :)
My favorite donut is a Tim Horton’s cherry stick – which I can never find anymore! BOO!
so glad you are back! Easter with the family and creating new traditions with my new hubby! :)
Believe it or not, this local donut place has whole wheat donuts! And they are delicious! Excuse me while I step out to go get one now…..
This Easter I’m going to visit my parents plus do a little pre-birthday celebrations :)
Feel better!!
I need this necklace…and a tummy tuck. ;-)
Wow! How much does a ticket to Atlanta cost? I love the necklace!
That Peanut Butter Cup doughnut looks like heaven!!! Wish I lived in Atlanta, but next time I’m there for work I’ll definitely make a special trip.
For easter I am having 6 kids at my house age 4 and under to decorate sugar cookies and dye eggs, we will then be having an easter egg hunt. On Sunday we will be doing a fun dinner and easter pinata. Oh the sugar overload! My plan – pain reliever in one hand (for the headache) and camera in the other (for the cuteness).
This Easter I will probably spend the day studying. Might have to start it with some donuts, though. Donut holes to be specific!
Holy Oreo Doughnut I want a bite !!!
I love Maple glazed doughnuts and Boston creme ones. When I lived in Brazil, there was a Dunkin Donuts chain near the office and we used to have a Boston Creme box picked up almost every afternoon… Here in CA, there are no Dunkin Donuts so I have to settle down for local shops… none of them with the creativity of Sublime… Yummy!
I love strawberry frosted donuts….mmmm now I want a donut :-)
You have got to stop with these places in Atlanta that I have to visit.. My husband thinks I’m insane when I say “We have to go to Atlanta Saturday so we can go to ___________” Last time it was the Cake Art store… OH Oh Oh!! Something I love,,,besides my wonderful husband and children, my two miniature daschunds, Sophie and Lucy! I hope I win the necklace, so pretty!
So very grateful for the generous love and simple kindness of family and friends.
I am the Treasurer & CFO for a new nonprofit called EcoVivarium. We will be opening a new zoo in southern California in a couple of years that will be dedicated to reptile, amphibians and arthropods! You can visit us now at http://www.EcoVivarium.org!
I’d have to say…favorite doughnut is from Columbus, OH, DKDiner. It’s a cake doughnut with chocolate frosting and crushed peanuts on top. The dough is JUST right…I’m drooling right now
I am now sick… and thinking these donuts might help. I need to order. Now. :)
Love the new postings! Thanks for great ideas!
I am glad you are feeling better! I love the necklaces. TOO cute. :o)
I’m glad you’re feeling better!
I love the sour cream doughnut at our local doughnut place. So yummy!
Hi Bakerella! I would just like to thank you for making me leave work to go eat a doughnut! I NEVER crave doghnuts, and after seeing your pictures, I grabbed my purse and went to Dunkin’ Donuts, which I’m sure wasn’t as good as the donuts you had in your pictures! For Easter, my husband and I are having a few friends over for dinner. We don’t live near our families, so our friends are our family! :o) Happy Easter to you and get better soon!
-Lindsey
Oh My – you really don’t want to know anything random about me….I could go on forever.
So sorry to hear you were ill – glad to have you back, and feeling up to speed soon. Those yummy treats are amazing – another wonderful place you have to explore.
OK – just one random thing about me….I have changed a flat tire – in a sequined dress – before the event we were going to with a friend – and neither one of us got mucked up. Girls Rule~
Yum this post made me really want a donut! My favorite kind if raspberry jelly filled.
OMG, I hate how San Jose Ca, we have nothing good to eat! I’m so jealous -___- I haven’t had a decent donut in years. I’ve competely given up it :[ boo
I wish those doughnuts could fly out the screen and into my mouth. They looked delicious! Now I’m really hungry.
Something random… my 2-year-old calls the babygate we put in her bedroom door her “petting zoo gate” and it makes me smile every time.
Right now I am in Ontario attending University, I am stuck far far away from all these delicious treats you talk about. Despite that I am happy that you are feeling better and that you give me a perfect outlet for my sweet tooth. Thanks :)
So glad you are feeling better! UGH!
Those donuts look AMAZING! As for something about myself, i will keep it donut related. I am fortunate enough to live very close to a fabulous donut place, Allie’s Donuts in RI…On a good morning, my girls and I can smell the donuts while we’re out at the bus stop!
Love custard filled donuts
My favorite doughnut… is a good old maple bar!
My parents used to own a bakery, and they would bring home a box of donuts every week. After a year I got so sick of doughnuts that I could not eat them for a few more years. However, coming to college has made doughnuts irresistible : )
my favorite doughnut flavor is the apple cider ones that you can only get during the fall! I loooove them!
I love peanut butter cup…so I would love to try the donut version!! YUMMMMMMY
How could I possibly have a favorite doughnut …. oh my gosh, they all look to good. The orange star yumyumyum and the chocolate wild berry …. now I’m hungry for doughnuts!
Blueberry doughnuts with an ice cold chocolate milk is the way we like to start our mornings!!!
For the past 3 years most Sunday mornings my husband and I stop at the local Donut Bank (donut shop in an old bank building that had a drive thru) for our peanut long john fix. He prefers chocolate icing with peanuts and I go for the white icing and peanuts. It’s always fun to see if they get the order right !
Im going to spend easter with my family and cook them dinner! Glad your feeling better! Happy Easter!
I love donuts with oreo sprinkles! Those are the best :D I’m glad you’re feeling better now!
My favorite doughnut flavor is probably the hamburger. You get the best of both worlds! Chocolate and vanilla. Plus, to an unsuspecting child they look just like real hamburgers! (I have seen these treats cause tears and uncontrollable laughter in the same room)
Baked goods + sparkles?
love it!
Easter plans? making baskets and hiding them for the boyfriend. And sleeping. And sugar. And more sleep!
Glad you are feeling better. The necklace rocks!! I
Polly
Love to get the necklace for my wife!
For Easter I am just going to spend it with family and eat all the good food.
I love long johns with the cream filling! And those necklaces are just adorable!!
I love this necklace and I love doughnuts. I wish I lived nearby so I could get some of those doughnuts! I am a grandmother and I love to bake and sew for my granddaughters!
I love everything mocha so I would really like to try the A donut you had. I am overly obsessed with cupcakes so I might have to use these creative donuts as inspiration for my next batch.
I’m glad you are feeling better!
My favorite doughnut flavor is definitely the French Cruller. Except the don’t have them at the place near me anymore! :(
Those photos make me want to abandon my family, hop on a bus and head to Georgia! I have a problem with donuts and there aren’t any good shops here. The best is Tim Hortons but it’s nothing compared to the decadence of Krispy Creme or apparently Sublime!
Easter will be special this year as my youngest is also celebrating his 3rd birthday. I actually hoped on here to get motivated for a cake idea from you. I typically do a carrot cake as it seems semi healty and Eastery but they would LOVE cakepops….I’ll see how the week goes.
Hope you are feeling better.
k
I am a donut FANATIC! Would LOVE to have that adorable necklace.
About me: I obsessively collected PEZ Dispensers as a child. I don’t collect anymore, but my collection has dispensers from almost 50 years ago and from overseas as well!
Lovely lovely lovely!! I love a custard filled chocolate covered doughnut!
Hi Bakerella, I’m so glad you’re feeling better. This Easter a group of my friends and I are have a GEOCACHE Easter Egg Hunt… We’ll use GPS’s to find the location of hidden Easter Egg Baskets around the city. Should be interesting, hope you have a great Easter!!!
Strawberry frosted donuts with Rainbow Jimmies (aka rainbow sprinkles if you aren’t from RI) my all time favorite :)
I’m Laura, mom to 6 girls (24, 14, 12, 11, 10 and 18 months). I’m so glad that I found you and Ree!
Hi Bakerella,
I would love to be able to make cupcakes as cute as yours. On my birthday, April 1st , I´m going to make the adorable cupcake easter baskets that I´ve been secretely admiring!
Hope you´re feeling better soon.
Happy Easter,
Sanna
I love PINK! especially doughnuts! Really a good ol’ plain cake doughnut will make my day any day.
My names Sara & I’m a shopaholic, especially when it comes to shoes & necklaces! That donut necklace is ADORABLE! I gotta get around to makin homemade donuts!
I want that Orange dream star! When do i want it?? Now please! :)
Yummy. Tim Horton’s does NOT have a variety like this…but if I go in there…I like a chocolate walnut crunch donut. mm.
Glad you’re feeling better! Thanks for the info about Sublime; I will have to check that place out! My favorite doughnut has always been the chocolate raised one at Rocky’s in my hometown. I’m thinking that the S’mores doughnut may give it a run for its money! Can’t wait to try it…
OMG Red velvet donut! I wants -=D
Im a chocolholic! I love anything and everything chocolate!
Soooo proud of my daughter, she just won 4 gold medals at a dance competition this past weekend!
Ohhh…and my little family of 5 LOVES donuts!!!
Thanks!
OMG that is PRECIOUS! LOVE your website!
Any donut will do for me! Except jelly filled, just not a fan. Thanks for the give-away, even if I don’t win!!
I have a friend who deserves a perpetual donut after the year she has had. If I win, it’s hers. My favorite donut? Lemon-filled
I’ll eat any donut if it’s warm, but my favorite is pumpkin spice!!
my favorite is the old fashion. I love it with a hot chocolate on cold morning.
I love chocolate donuts! No other flavor need apply. :o)
Donuts….. I have never met a donut I did not like. They truly are my favorite food in all the world!!! I will have to make a special trip to Georgia to try them out.
Oh donuts! I love them. Especially cider donuts from an apple orchard in the fall. Drool.
Something about myself…
I’m exhausted and procrastinating on studying for physics.
I am on a…gasp…diet; in the past year I have lost 60lbs and have a lot more to go, so I don’t really do donuts. HOWEVER, if I were to eat one, I like the glazed cake donuts the best.
the only donut i wish for is a Krispy Kreme. Unfortunately, the one near me is closed…… I really crave it though.
I just love love love doughnuts, its actually a problem. The pictures from this post were unbelievable!
maple bars are my weakness when donuts are around. I can’t say no!
Those little jeweled donuts are the cutest things I have ever seen!!! Alice in Wonderland, definately my favorite movie growing up. A little twisted, but awesome, haha. You are seriously killing my diet right now. What I wouldn’t give for that Oreo donut! Easter is going to be hard this year. All I have ever wanted is a white chocolate easter bunny, and unfortunately this year, I cannot have, lol.
Hi there,
I regulary watch your sites and enjoy your receipts and the yummy pictures ;-)
I wish you a happy easter and some great days.
greetings from germany…
sandra
hmm, something about me? I’ve lost 17lbs since January! I’m on a soul-searching journey to finally lose this weight. But even though I’m dieting, I still enjoy drooling over your yummy blog each week :=)
Pick me, pick me!
Now that I’m a stay at home Mom I don’t get to share in the office I-was-late-this-morning-so-I’m-bringing-breakfast-to-distract-you donuts.
Cute necklace! I love donuts!!! Hope you continue to feel better!
I’m going to go old school on this one – my favorite donut is a glazed donut with rainbow sprinkles. The whole donut has to be glazed – not just the top part that is dipped in sprinkles. There’s a bakery by my parent’s that makes them fresh each morning and they are a-maz-ing!
Ahhhh…. I wish I had a gourmet doughnut shoppe where I live. My hubby is in the Air Force, and I am thankful that he is here with me this Easter, instead of being overseas.
Glad you’re feeling better!
I like the chocolate cake donuts! YUM! I also like the plain cake donut to dip in my coffee.. so good! The ones above have me drooling right now :P
I have 97 pairs of shoes, and am thankful for all of them.
love chocolate flavoured donuts!!! with chocolate glaze
Great to hear you’re feeling better. And it’s always fun to read about other doughnut fiends. I’m not fond of fritters but anything filled with cream or fluff? I am there!
Oh my those peanut butter donuts look amazing. Actually they all look amazing. One of my favourite donuts are maple dip. That and sour cream glaze. Okay now I need a donut fix.
I just read “pops for a purpose” and I supose why you were in the hospital these days. I just wanna wish you a very happy 18th birthday this july/2010, don’t worry everything will be fine.
Donuts are a guilty pleasure for sure. Lamars Coconut cake donuts cannot be ignored! Happy Easter to one and all!
Just wanted to say that I truly missed your posts and I hope you are recovering well! Your blogs are the highlight of my work day and always give me great inspiration! Thank you!
Love your blog! My favorite donut it glazed chocolate with nuts. I can’t wait to buy your new book.
Here’s a random fact about me: I am deathly afraid of ants. I can stand one or two random little ones but I get that chill up my spine and nausea when I see a whole mess of them scattered around or in a long line. This fear probably stems from an experience as a child: I watched my younger cousin get violently hosed down by our grandfather after he accidentally sat on a fire ant hill. :/ Anyway, here I am at 26– afraid of the big bad ant. Haha— I laugh with nervousness. :)
When I was a kig I loved watching the doughnuts being made in a neighborhood doughnut shop.
The necklace is precious!
Glad you are feeling better :)
This Easter I’ll be remembering how my hubby proposed 7 years ago on Good Friday :)
I love blueberry cake donuts with blueberry frosting! Delish. The necklace is adorable!!
The best doghnut I EVER had was a lotus filled doughnut from the Donut Factory in Singapore. All of thier donuts were the stuff of dreams.
I love any donut from Krispy Kreme, but don’t have one close to my home. Dunkin donuts are second best. Love the necklace.
My favorite doughnut is chocolate frosted and custard filled. It’s funny because my husband and I were wanting doughnuts late last night, but we resisted the urge (only because there isn’t a really close doughnut shop).
I love donuts…especially plain ones…
The necklace is just too cute!!
SO cute! And so thankful someone gave you back the gift of life. I’ve always been an organ donor, a blood donator, and a supporter.
I love doughnuts so much, I tried making my own at home and actually still have a little tiny itsy bitty burnmark on my face from the oil spritz…I would make those donuts again anyday! YUM!
Just out of the hospital and you are giving away a necklace…you are one special lady!!!! I hope you feel better super soon….I work in a hospital so I know how just staying in one almost drains you more.
My best friend Andy and I are obsessed with doughnuts right now! You need to look at Voodoo Doughnuts out of Portland Oregon….They even do wedings out of the bakery!
As for me this next week will be filled with me attempting to make a zombie shaped caked for my phenominal boyfriend. I am actually going to incorporate the way you make cake pops into my zombie head sculpture. (think eyeball pops)
Hope you feel better soon!!!!
Something about me:
I really dislike fruit in my salads. Mandarin oranges, raspberry vinaigrette, dried cranberries – you get the idea. Speaking of fruit, pineapple is one of my favorites, but I absolutely hate it when it’s cooked in some way.
I am very thankful for my 3 grandkids. Our newest is from Ethiopia. I got to go when my daughter and son-in-law went to meet her and bring her home. Mirette is the cutest little girl.
Oh and I like all doughnuts with maple bars being the best.
Ooh, that smores doughtnut looks so good!! And that necklace is so pretty too! :D
Being a college student, one of the best late-night study breaks is going down to the huge Krispy Kreme on Ponce and sharing a couple of hot doughnuts and milk with my boyfriend. =) It always hits the spot! Yum!!
I’m so glad you’re feeling better! One of my friends is from Atlanta and I will have to tell her about this donut shop. Something about myself? My guilty pleasure is BAKING! Who would have known.
I’m glad you’re feeling better! It takes me a long time to get over things as well, so I’m happy you’re doing okay :) I would L-O-V-E LOVE that necklace! It’s just the darndest cutest little necklace!
Oh Bakerella, how I missed you this past week!! Glad that you are feeling ok again!!
Here in my city (Veracruz) we don’t have any donuts store anymore. We used to have Dunkin’ and Daylight but only for a while. They are gone now :(
But when I go to Mexico City, at the airport I make sure to go and pick up some Krispy Creme Doughnuts!! They are my favorite by far… Oh, and I buy some Cinnabon Rolls also… I’m a sugar addict!! =)
mmm, I too am a donut fan. Those donuts look so amazing they literally made my stomach growl! I wish we had a shop like that here in San Antonio, but unfortunately we are stuck with a shipley’s who serves day old hard and crusty donuts – yuck!
Recently though I was able to journey to Round Rock, TX to a donut shop that sells Texas sized donuts! Thats right – a donut larger than my head. It took 5 of us to eat it… and we still had leftovers. There donuts were very good and the people were so friendly – they gave us each a free donut of our choice to try out. :) http://www.roundrockdonuts.com/
Yum.. I love donuts. I especially like chocolate eclairs… mmm. I really love your blog… and I am so happy that you are okay.
Darling necklace! I love sour cream donuts. You’ve got me craving a trip to Dunkin Dounts now! :)
My husband’s family just started a biggest loser competition. I am doing it to lose baby weight. It started today and all i can think about now is how delicious those donuts looked and how I want one really really really really bad! Maybe I will start the competition tomorrow… after all, I do have 3 months to lose it… one day wont hurt that much, right?!
Cute necklace!! I love any kind of donut but my favorite has to be the fresh strawberry ones we always got when I was a child and went strawberry picking at a local farm with my grandma. Donuts are the next thing on my list to try to make at home.
I’m old fashioned…my favorite doughnut is a chocolate frosted cake doughnut with a HUGE glass of ice cold milk!!! Bliss!
But those doughnuts from Atlanta have peaked my interest. A Peanut Butter Cup doughnut?? Might run a close second! Thanks for the chance to win the darling necklace.
This Easter, I’m spending it like last year.. Away from home, possible rotting away in a library studying for pending exam time. Oh the joys of being in University…
I could definitely go for a doughnut now though, Boston Cream from Tim Hortan’s… yummy.
I’m spending this week before Easter baking! A co-worker is walking one of the 3-Days for Breast Cancer, and we’re having a silent auction/bake sale to raise money. And we’re making cake pops – Easter-themed ones – to sell!!
Take care of yourself! This Easter, I am hosting a little brunch with just a couple friends. No dulce de leche donuts though :)
My love for donuts started at a young age. My Ukranian grandmother made the absolute best home made donuts. I have her “recipe” (she did it all by memory) and am still, at 46, too intimidated to try to make them. I know they won’t be as good. But I will make them one day. For now, I enjoy a good old fashioned donut dunked in coffee.
First off, glad you are feeling better! We are spending Easter with a couple of friends. We are hopeful the weather will be nice and warm by then.
ooh.i.love.doughnuts! and my name starts with “a” so I think this post was for me:)
This Easter I get to stuff myself with yummy food at a lunch we have every year with my extended family.
I have 30 pairs of shoes :D
My favorite donuts are either glazed or jelly-filled.
Unfortunately I don’t have any crazy talents…
The necklace is so cute
Doughnuts (here in Montreal, at least!) are rarely worthy of their calorie count. But I would definitely make an exception here! Love the darling necklace too (as would my 10-year old daughter, I’m sure!). Thanks for a delicious post.
I know I’m not going to win, but I still have to enter cause I think you’re adorable. I’m glad you’re better.
I really need a pick-me-up. I’m finishing my second year of law school and my first final is two weeks from tomorrow! (And also, I love all doughnuts. ALLLLLLL of them. I don’t discriminate.)
Wow, I’m not even crazy about donuts generally, but these made my mouth water. Yum.
Something random…I really, really love unicorns and cupcakes. They’re my two favorite things ever. :D Followed closely by your blog. Your creations make me so happy!
Love the neckaces! Would love to try the Oreo Cream!
When I was a child we used to get donuts on Sunday after church. I always used to say how good it smelled and how much fun it must be to work there. Ironically, when I turned sixteen, the first job I ever had was at that bakery. I worked there for four and a half years and let me tell you, it still smelled great even if it wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be.
I’m grateful for my grandmother who has always been there for me…
Though I wish we had such diverse donuts here.
Oh my goodness that is one the cutest little sparkley bit I’ve seen in a long while! LOVE IT! Have a great Easter!
