Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
I am a donut freak. I love them all!!!! Favorites are Butter Milk and Apple Fritters. Love the necklace. It would look so sweet around my neck. I plan on spending Easter with my family and make the Egg Pops as a surprise.
First of all, I am so happy that you are better. I knew something must have been wrong when you didn’t post but I didn’t want to assume anything bad happened.
Because of your awesome Easter inspirational ideas, I have decided to make the Easter Basket Cupcakes for all the little ones in my family. I know they will love them. I hope they look even a fraction as good as yours do.
You are a true inspiration in more ways than one.
My family does the same thing for Easter. We head down to my uncle’s beach house in Galveston, eat yummy hamburgers and have a beach volleyball tournament. This year I’m excited because I’m bringing some of your yummy cake balls (and some of my own creations too) !!
When I was in grade 5, my dream job was to be a roller coaster tester. And by tester, I really mean “go to amusement parks, go on all the rides, and rate how fun they are”. Lofty goals for a 10 year old!
i can’t sleep without the room being completely cold and i love the smell of gasoline.. weird. i know.. but i’m a biochemist so it’s one of the very few “good” smells. hehe
My favorite guilty pleasure (to eat) is cookies. Cookies in any shape or form – come to mama! I have the belly, butt and thighs to prove it :)
“Donuts. Is there anything they can’t do? ”
– Homer Simpson
I’m thankful there are direct flights from Boston to Atlanta…need donuts now.
What a dynamite combination: Doughnuts and crystals! Until now custard filled Bismarks have been my favorite doughnut, but if I ever get a chance to taste the Oreo cookie doughnut I might consider a change.
Oh….I love anything custard filled with chocolate frosting…the only way to go!!!
the bakery in my hometown, (now closed), made the most
delectable, yummiest, finger kissing german chocolate doughnuts. i still dream of them…
Super cute necklace! I hope you are 100% soon!
Ypu are my hero!!! I want to be like you when I grow up….tho I’m 48 and will probably NEVER grow up!! YOU are soooo inspiring!! These donuts are superb!!!
1,2,3,4,5,6,7, oh wait, you said we didn’t have to count the toffees, anyway, I can’t think of a donut that I don’t like, unless it has coconut on it. I really like those chocolate Entemann’s donut that have that “crunch” when you bite into them and cruellers, YUM… where’s Dunkin at?
bear claw doughnuts with rainbow sprinkles are THE best!!
=]
Unfortunately I will be spending Easter alone this year b/c my husband has to go to Washington state for work. Hopefully I can get some of my favorite chocolate cake donuts to make the weekend better!
Oh how I love doughnuts! My favorite would have to be glazed with chocolate or maple icing. Yummy!
Oh how I love your blog! And your awesome giveaways! Your blog really inspires me!… Up until this past year when I started reading it, I was in a bit of a slump. I really like having an artistic outlet (whether it’s baking cute stuff or crafting), I just wasn’t feeling inspired. Until one day, I stumbled across your blog. It’s like you rejuvinated me! All of a sudden it felt like making stuff from scratch did matter! And I remembered how much I love doing it! Thanks Bakerella!
I just made PWs Risotto this weekend and added asparagus and shrimp. It is the best! And my new favorite!!
Every Sunday I check to see your new inventions. It is a sad week when you are sick. I am so happy that you are feeling better because I know you make a lot of people happy. I thought that maple bars were my favorite doughnut but now that I see all of those doughnuts I don’t think it is. Everyone of them looked amazing!
Boston Creme. I almost never walk out of a Dunkins without one. If only that Sublime store did mail order! I guess I’ll have to stop by when I drive through Atlanta in June.
::drool:: Those look amazing!!! I love the whimsical flavors!
My favorite doughnuts in general are from a local doughnut shop called Jolly Pirate. I’d love to win the cute necklace! Thanks for the giveaway!
This Easter will be my first not at home. I will be seeing my boyfriend for the first time in 10 weeks, as he is in training for the Army. I can’t wait!
Okay, well before reading this post I would have claimed a boston cream or regular chocolate donut as my favorit donut flavor. NOW, however, I am convinced I am missing out, not having some of Sublime’s awesome looking flavors. They look delish! Thanks for sharing!
OH…and so glad you are feeling better. I felt lost without my Bakerella post for last week. ;D
Hello Bakerella
What a coincidence…. my friend just told me she will have a kidney transplant this Summer. What a shock to all of us. They are hoping her husband is a match. Love all that you do!
I think I will be moving to Georgia soon…. just because of the doughnuts!!!
I miss doughnuts, since I have to be gluten free. We had the best doughnut shop in our small town when I was growing up! Glad to see you back, Bakerella.
Janine
Oh yummmm! donuts look soooo good! creme filled are my favorties!!
Hello Bakerella! You always have theeee cutest ideas and yummy concoctions. I’m a semi-newbie follower to your blog, but have definitely spent time going through your older posts. I LOVE getting your posts every week and noticed something was off when you didn’t have anything for the last couple of weeks. I sure hope that you’re feeling better! I live in Denver and I hope to go to a sunrise service at Red Rocks Amphitheater for Easter if the weather holds out. I plan to have friends over afterward for a yummy brunch. If you’re every my way, please look me up! Thanks for all your inspiration!
I love your blog!!! I have gotten a lot of great ideas and they are delish too! This Easter I am making a giant Easter cake for my family.
I’m not much of a jewelry perosn–but this i would wear! I love doughnuts! Thanks for the chance to win!
taking my son to the playground!
Your favorite doughnut flavor? Oreo doughnut with cream filling its sound like heaven to me
Something you’re grateful for? I’m grateful for having a good job
What you’ll be doing this Easter? I’m going out with my family to McAllen, Tx.
Some usual or unsusual talent you have? usual or unusual mmmm.. well…… I like to do everything!! like to play violin, I like to cook, I like to bake, everything that have to do with hands or hand made counts with me!!!!
How many pair of shoes you own? I LOVE SHOES!!!! and if they have like sparkles better hahaha. I have like 20 pairs of shoes..
Phobias? I really think that I don’t have one.. or… not get married counts ??? hahaha
Favorite guilty pleasure. I love love loveeeeeee.. desserts!!!! Ice cream, pay, cake, cookies, cupcakes… anything that have sugar hahahaha
Mmmm donuts!! I love maple glazed donuts and cinnamon twists, but that peanut butter cup ones looks amazing. Here’s something interesting – just for kicks. I’ve recently started a lifestyle change to lose weight, but I’m finding it VERY difficult because baking is my hobby. Hmmm… maybe I should change hobbies?! :)
I am thankful that you are well. Donuts…me and Homer drool together! I truly miss hot malasadas (Portuguese donuts) from Leonard’s Bakery in Honolulu. I need to go home for a visit.
this easter i’ll be!!!! working… deeerrhhh… sigh. maybe i’ll buy a box of doughnuts to keep me company.
Today’s my birthday and I’m actually ok with it enough to tell people about it (usually I’m very hush-hush)! Anyway, it would be super awesome to have a little donut around my neck. Mostly just to remind myself that it’s better to enjoy donuts in necklace form rather than eating them, since that’s the equivalent to smearing a thick layer of donut and frosting right around my thighs.
Thank goodness for all things good and beautiful– including your Web site.
While doughnuts go pretty high up on the list (anything with creamy filling is tops) my biggest..weird guilty pleasure is probably Yoo-hoo.
I just love the weird, terrible-attempt-at-chocolate-milk flavor but I cringe imagining just how much of the bottle is pure corn syrup! 0% redeeming nutritional value, 100% delicious.
Hope I get to be your sparkle donut necklace twin!
So happy to hear you are feeling better, I just now found out you have a cake pop book coming out this year, I immediately went to Amazon and did a pre-order.
My favorite doughnuts are sour cream, yum! I could eat an entire dozen if they were in front of me. Good thing they are not!
I love Boston Creme Pie Donuts! So so so yummy, but these’s donuts look 100x better than any I’ve ever had!
I’m so glad you’re feeling better! So glad you have a new *special* birthday as well.
What’s new with me; working on Easter cookies for the weekend!
Thanks for all your scrumptious, sweet ideas!
xo,
Marian
I have never been a big fan of doughnuts, but these look like they would seriously change my mind! Thanks for the post and I hope you feel better!
guilty truth: I now need to make a trip to Atlanta to eat at Glady Knight’s Chicken and Waffle House and now Sublime donuts. ahhhhh!
my favorite donut is a white powered sugar with raspberry filling, so yummy!
All you need to know about me is how much I love my nieces. In fact the 10-year old just happens to be a doughnut freakazoid and if I win this great necklace, I’m giving it to her.
Mmm…donuts :) Always a good pick me up on a rainy afternoon. Currently on the shop for the best camera for traveling but that can wait until I get my donut fix! xo
So fun!! Well, I live in Atlanta and look forward to a Bakerella book signing in the future :o). I made some cake pops in red white and blue for the Rally Foundation for childhood cancer, they were a hit!! I made cute little tags and everything. I make personalized embroidered key chains and jumbo button bookmarks and badge reels for Teachers and Nurses. I love to bake “Bakerella” style. I also redid my pantry and it has all my cookie cutters and sprinkles merchandised so cute in glass jars to enjoy. I also own a toy store in Snellville, GA!!
Thanks for sharing all your talent
~Chrissy
i guess that here is 212 sprinkles on that donut. lol j/k. I am super excited about Easter this year b/c I am traveling with my hubby and in laws to DC. I have never been and I get to see the cherry blossoms while I am there (thats all i really wanna see). oh the simple pleasures in life. Glad u r feeling much better!!
I actually already have a doughnut necklace, but it’s not nearly as fabulous as this one. I would love to add it to my jewelry collection. :)
I love that you put the shoe question, beside phobias. I have a huge phobia of feet.
Thanks for having this contest for us. Hope you are feeling better.
April
Doughnuts… I love the simple unglazed oldfashioned or buttermilk cake doughnut! The crispy edges and soft center, not too sweet, yum!
Sorry you have been ill and happy that you are feeling better.
The necklace is adorable, thanks for sharing.
Glad you are on the mend. My favorite donuts come from a little shop named Culberts on the shore of Lake Huron in Canada..small round boston creme, the must have every visit.
that is so cute .
Maple doughnuts. From albersons. Lame I know, But I love them.
My fav doughnut is anything with pastry cream in it!!! Thanks for the info, we will visit the Sublime store when we go into Atlanta for my daughter’s graduation from college in May.
I love owls. Big, scary eyes, weird colored owls.
Call me boring, but I LOOOOOOVEEE plain, unglazed buttermilk donuts. This is the only dessert I go plain jane on, but I stand by it!
PS: My house loves ya, Bakerella!
When I was younger, it was customary for parents to bring donuts for all us kids after our Saturday morning soccer games. At the beginning of the season, we’d all get our roster/schedule with our assigned donut day. My parents were the favorite because they’d always do apple fritters and the long twisted glazed donuts. I loved that tradition though I look back and think, although I still LOVE donuts, if I tried to eat one right after a soccer game, I’d be sick!!
That necklace is adorable. I’m also wondering if Sublime donuts ships…a girl can dream… :) Favourite donut, hands-down, is blueberry cake- it’s deceptively delicious.
Loooove doughnuts. Easter is brunch with family and friends.
I can’t believe I was in Atlanta last week and didn’t eat those doughnuts!!!!
sylviarj at yahoo dot com
The best doughnut I have every eaten was a german chocolate doughnut. Let’s say YUMMY! I love coconut and pecan mixture.
Oh my…DOUGHNUT heaven! I’ve always enjoyed the little mini brown cruchy coconut doughnuts but I’m pretty sure my new favorite would be the peanut butter cup doughnut! Have never eaten one, but I’m pretty sure that’s my favorite. Yummo.
I’m realllllllllly hoping that I’m this week’s lucky winner. That necklace is so super cute!!!
I love that there is someone else out there that loves doughnuts as much as me! They’ve tried to turn everything else into something healthy, but thankfully, they have left the doughnut alone….
The best doughnut on the planet has to be the bavarian creme filled bismark… hands down….
Love your posts and hope you are feeling better soon!
I’m a chocolate girl myself…… and that peanut butter cup donut looks amazing!!
Love that necklace!!
What a cute necklace!!! :) Ok, here’s something about me…I suffer from Coulrophobia..yep, I am terrified of CLOWNS..!
This Easter weekend my in-laws are coming to visit. :-)
OMG! Red velvet donuts.. I think I’m in heaven!! lord help me!
I am a fan of Rolos, holding hands with my husband, the color combination of spring green/turqoise/orange, playing SORRY with my 5 kids, reading young adult fiction, daisies, and honesty. I believe we are not each others’ judge, and we should every now and again walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Baked goods make me happy! :) (and apple fritters are my faves)
Love that necklace.
I spend almost all of my time doing two things…dancing and baking.
Lol… ok, something about myself. I do this crazy thing called geocaching. Basically, it’s a high tech scavenger hunt that has taken me to some AMAZING places in California. It’s nothing like what’s been shown on Law & Order… & The Forgotten *almost* got it right.
I also bake, but I never have time anymore… so once in awhile when it’s my turn to bring breakfast to my Bible study, I bake something delicious!
I love Chocolate Cake donuts with chocolate icing from Dunford Donuts in Salt Lake City. Regrettably for my waistline they are sold in gas stations all over Utah!
I have to say, I am a donut purist. Just a simple glazed for me, thanks! Occasionally I will splurge and have the glazed with the chocolate drizzle, but usually just plain glazed. Preferably with a hot cup of coffee! Thanks for the fun giveaway, the necklaces are just too cute!
there is a place called Neil’s donughnuts in Wallingford, CT that I go to periodically that makes the BEST bavarian cream doughnut I have ever tasted. The crust is crunchy and the inside is doughy and light and the custardy cream inside makes me drool every time I think about it. YUMMY!
Chocolate cake doughnuts are my favorite… but who can say no to Boston creme, or any others for that matter? Fresh & hot, they’re all yummy. I am very glad I live in Maryland, otherwise I’d probably be taking a road trip to Sublime!
So Cute!!
Okay I LOVE Alice in Wonderland and I LOVE that necklace. My favorite doughnut would probably the trusty mapple bar. But right I am trying different cupcake recipes to decide which one to use for my best friends baby shower. I am very excited and I am going to make rattle cupcakes. Just I can’t choose which cupcake to use.
Oh and another great doughnut shop to visit if you are ever in the Portland, OR area or just want to visit their website, http://www.voodoodoughnut.com. Awesome place. And they do weddings.
When I was a kid Dunkin Donuts had an icing filled donut (maybe they still do? No Dunkin Donuts where I live now!…probably a good thing.) that was SO good!
And this Easter I will be parading my little one around town to all the Grandparent’s in his cute Easter outfit. Sounds like a fun Easter to me! (thankfully he’s too young to care!)
This week I will be baking all kinds of cookies with my daughter. I love cruller doughnuts…so light and soft…Mmmm! Well I’m off to Tim Hortons!
My family loves donuts. Our favorite donut shop is Krispy Kreme. They have quite a selection, but our favorite is plain old raised glazed. Their donuts are so fresh and warm. Yummy!
I am now determined to make it to Atlanta to try those doughnuts! I can be boring when it comes to doughnut flavors. If I can’t decide what to get I go with glazed because they are always good!
We have a donut shop called Voodoo donuts in Oregon that creates outrageously weird BUT delicious donuts. They have one that has bacon on it!!! Ahh. The captain crunch donut is my favorite :)
I am grateful for my wonderful husband who surprised me with a brand new Kitchenaid mixmaster after I blew the motor making too large a batch of sugar cookies! (I haven’t used it yet, by the way….it looks too durn purty sitting all shiny on my counter!)
Would absolutely flip out if I were to be lucky enough to win the necklace!!! Please please may I????
Oh doughnuts! How I love thee! I’ve never tried one, but the Peanut Butter Cup lovely is calling me.
I hope your felling better.
My favorite donut comes from a local bakery, it’s their maple bar. So amazing. :)
Favorite donut flavor is definitely plain ‘ole chocolate frosted (with sprinkles).
When I was little I used to love he doughnuts with the chocolate icing and the pink sprinkle. So girly!!
Now I’ll eat just about anything…and a doughnut sounds pretty fantastic right now!!
I have been obsessed with making sugar cookies….In the past month I have made 7 batches. Hedgehogs, rabbits, flowers, butterflies, and horses. I just can’t stop. :) and maybe I don’t want to either.
My favorite donut may be a little boring, but it’s a classic… the chocolate glazed, sometimes called honey dipped. Yum!
That necklace is sooo sweet!!
hey, i’m lea from germany. i really really love your blog. i’m a kind of addicted to this blog ;-)
ps: whats about shipping to europe?
So glad you are feeling better….really missed you!!! I check daily! If I don’t win that necklace….you can bet I am gonna go get me one for sure!!
I LOVE DONUTS TOO!!!! :o)
My favorite part of the necklace is that it’s calorie free and I can enjoy it while eating three real ones…
Ever since I got pregnant, I’ve been CRAVING a good doughnut. So far, I’ve abstained. However, I think I might need to pick me up a dozen after this post :) That necklace is too cute!!
Guilty pleasure… timbits! (Donuts in the form of a bite sized ball, just like your cake balls!). Every time I feel for a snack, I allow myself to have a few as a treat! Favourite flavour – old fashioned glazed. or just plain ol’ spinkled goodness.. mmm
Funny you speak of donuts, because I gave them up for lent, so I haven’t had a donut in 30 days! I am in donut withdrawal… only 1 week to go! Phew!
Get well soon!
So cute! I like Blueberry donuts with Blueberry frosting from a local bakery here in Utah.
This Easter, my husband and I will be taking our 2 year old twin boys on a 12+ hour road trip to New York–should be interesting ;) Cute necklace!
My favorite donut is definatly homemade plain with sprinkles. I think you could make some pretty cute donut pops!:)
II am so grateful that my son is alive. That we will be together for Easter and soon after for his first birthday. I never thought I could have children and being 22 and wanting nothing more than to be a Mom, I was heartbroken. I am thankful that the medicine I had to be on so that I would not die during my pregnancy and kill both him and I did not have any side affects on him though he was born early.
Wow! I want to come through the computer and taste all of those donuts. So yummy.
The peanut butter cup one would be my favorite….well maybe the oreo one…I don’t know….I must try them.
wished I lived in Atlanta.
I own over 100 pez dispensers :)
d’oh! nuts. Yum!
those look soooooo good. i would go for that boston creme looking A one and maybe a bite of the red velvet. i live near bouchon bakery where they make a reallllllllyy good boston creme type dougnut but it’s only one day a week when they are in season and you have to promise your first born to to get one.
luckily i just got new sneakers today to burn off all those lusting for doughnut calories.
oh…for the love of a maple donut…this necklace is adorable!
Thanks for the chance to win!!
(p.s. maple is my favorite)
Glad your feeling better!!
A little somthething about myself: I love your receipes and I use them for my daughters classmates, and I cant wait for your book to be out this year. Looking foward to it!
Wow those donuts look delicious!! But I’m a simple girl and I would have to say my favorite donut has to be a HOT glaze donut!! Yum!
Glad you are back, sweet Bakerella! What you should know about me is that I am terrified of birds! Seriously!
ooooh- so cute! doughnuts are heaven- HEAVEN! my kids and i eat at least one a week…now we must order those sublime doughnuts! thanks!
My favorite doughnut is the French Cruller, but that A doughnut is looking mighty tempting!
I love chocolate cake donuts. I am so very thankful for my loving husband.
I love Sublime Doughnuts! I moved from Atlanta last year and I miss the A creme so much. My fave is a hot Krispy Kreme, fresh off the conveyor belt.
Random doughnut related story. Once donut overdosed because my mother was our swim team’s concession-stand-lady and WAY over-ordered Krispy Kreme donuts to sell. Ate literally dozens in a couple days.
I love your blog bakerella! Those doughnuts look delicious. My favourite flavour is strawberry jelly!
I would have to say my favorite donut is a glazed blueberry cake…they’re just so yummy!!! :)
I am SOOOO glad you are ok and feeling better!! I LOVE that necklace – wow – so cute!!
I am beyond grateful for my precious children, husband, and family. They are my world. We are hosting Easter and I’m trying to figure out just how much I’ll have time to BAKE. I guess we need to make dinner too :-(
My favourite doughtnuts are yeast based, filled with pistachio cream and drizzled with dark chocolate. Delicious :)
So I’ve been wondering…do you like shoes? Since your purse post I’ve been wondering if you feel the same about shoes. Me? I LOVE shoes. I can’t have enough shoes! Shoe shopping is my pick-me-up AND guilty pleasure.. for me, I can always find shoes that fit – & they’re so cute & pretty & fun! Anyways…to the point – I was thinking, if you like shoes, you should come up with something that’s shoe-related! How fun would that be? I’ll be trying to think of something too! :)
Hey Bakerella. Cute Doughnuts, ours in the UK suck, can’t wait to come to the states and pig out….
… I brought some doughnuts yesterday, cause I had a craving, and as I walked out the supermarket I remembered that I’ve given up bread and any ‘bready’ products for lent. GUTTED. My dad and sister ate them all!
Hope you feel better soon :)
xx
This Easter, I will go to church and then come home and work on wedding invitations…all…day…long…
As cheesy as this sounds, I am grateful for the amazing boyfriend who is right now reading this over my shoulder and drooling over all the doughnuts.
My goodness (OMG!!) no wonder you were shaking your head as you left with your purchase! I just priced that limited edition and I think you’ve lost your mind giving it away!!! But hey, I’m in there, too, trying to win it as well! Good luck to EVERYONE BC that’s a NIIICCCEEEE gift to win!
LOVE your creativeness! Thanks for all of your ideas!
Dee
I am thankful that my grandparents are coming home from Florida in a few days! They are snow-birds and have been in Florida since the beginning of January. I miss them terribly and I am so glad they will be back for Easter!!! :)
I’m studying in Paraguay now and these doughnut pictures are really making my mouth water for some good old US sweets…mmmm
I LOVE doughnuts but I am a bit of a plain jane. My favorite the yeast doughnut from Longs Bakery in Indianapolis Indiana. It is PERFECT!!!! Just enough glaze, the perfect amount of chewiness, light and fluffy………HEAVEN!
Stumbled upon your blog the other night:) Love what I see! I made my first attempt at a bunny cake this year for an egg hunt and brunch with a few friends. I was quite impressed with my work, but already thinking how I can improve it for next year! Actually, I may not wait until next Easter…who says you can’t have a bunny cake in July??
i´m glad you´re feeling better!!!
this afternoon i´m going for a week on vacation to: El bolson. a little place near Bariloche. Patagonia Argentina. where you can find all kind of fresh berries.. mmhh!!!
Happy Easter!
Now I want to try a Chocolate Wildberry Fritter doughnut! Normally I’m a kolache kind of gal but those look fabulous!!
Love the necklace. The cream donut looks Amazing!
What a cute necklace! I’m glad you’re feeling better now…
hmm.. an interesting fact about me, huh? Well, I do love to crochet! and coincidentally, I’ve made a cute little set of crocheted donuts for a friend of mine that loves them :) how’s that for keeping with the theme! haha
Take care,
Cristina
Wow I’m glad you’re feeling better! I checked back everyday last week hoping for a new post. I’m glad you’re back!
My favorite doughnuts are the strawberry frosted and bavarian creme at dunkin doughnuts but i have a feeling that may change if I go to Atlanta. :)
That necklace is so CUTE!!! I would wear it with pride if you pick me.
Glad you’re feeling better!
My favorite doughnuts are maple bars with warm maple icing, just like my grandma made! Yum!
I think I would really love the peanut butter cup doughnut!! YUM!
I’m glad you’re feeling better, Angie.
YUM – those donuts look delicious and what a cute necklace!
:-)
I love Boston Creme Donuts. Yum!
My favorite doughnut is bavarian cream filled with fudge frosting. So yummy!!!
I love, love, love that necklace!
This year I am going home for Easter and to church with my dad, who just had a quadruple bypass heart surgery. He is very active in the church and every Sunday, his favorite thing to do is to hand out complimentary coffee and doughnut holes to the members of the church before services start. I haven’t been home in a while, so I’m really looking forward to those doughnut holes after reading about your A shaped doughnuts. The place that sells the doughnut holes to my church is called the Great American Doughnut Shop in Bowling Green, KY. It has the best doughnuts I’ve ever tried before. Hands down. I won’t even go into a Krispy Creme or Dunkin Donuts because they don’t even come close to the the Great American!! I hope you have a wonderful Easter with your family and are feeling better!
I love Apple Fritters. There is a great little donut shop around the corner from my house and they make the best fritter. John’s Space Age Donuts. YUM!!!
I always loved picking out the small munchkin doughnuts at Dunkin when I was little! Such a cute necklace and I am so happy for you with your book!
Hope you are better :)
I love doughnuts too and I have to remind myself that they aren’t good for me…. I love cream filled ones… with lots of frosting. Pretty much anything really unhealthy! Yum.
oh no! just when I was vowing to lay off the sweets. Thankfully I live just far enough outside of A-town to not run down to Sublime on my lunch break for a dozen of my own ;)
My favorite donut is the plain old jelly filled with powdered sugar – it brings me back to Sunday mornings when my dad would pick up a sack at the bakery after church.
LOVE Doughnuts. I live two doors down from a bakery, and I can smell delicious doughnuts being made every morning. VERY dangerous!! I just moved to America from Madison, and it makes me miss the Tim Hortons Doughnuts and coffee from back home.
Very cute necklace! :)
Feel Better!!
My favorite donut ever is a cinnamon sugar twist from Bill’s Donuts here in Dayton. I don’t even like donuts, but I love those!
My favorite doughnut flavor is Cream filled doughnut with chocolate glaze on top! Yummy!
I am one of the few people in the world that does not like chocolate……..at all! So, I love a glazed doughnut…….and that adorable necklace!!
My favorite donut is definitely raspberry jelly filled. Yum.
I’m pregnant with my first child, due in September, and have been craving doughnuts! This didn’t help….. :D
I’m glad you’re back and okay!
I’m a teacher and am SO happy to be off for spring break this week.
I love chocolate cake doughnuts. :)
For Easter a bunch of us rented a house on the beach and are heading to the coast! Very excited to relax and stuff our faces with fresh seafood.
Something about me…my kids play pranks on me all. the. time. just because they like my reaction. LOL I usually screech or holler in some way or make some sort of face that would break your camera. Now, what does that say about me?? LOL
Glad to hear your doing better. I adore anything peanut butter. Unfortunately very few shops seem to make peanut butter donuts. I love the ooey gooey goodness of a peanut butter cup donut!
So cute! My favorite donut is peanut butter cream filled with powdered sugar on top. YUM!
Those donuts look fabulous. The A-town donut looks the best, though. YUM. :D
i just got engaggeeeeeeeeeeeeeed … and still religiously checked bakerella ha ha ha
This Easter happens to be my husband’s birthday!! It is suppose to be beautiful here in Baltimore, sunny, upper 70s, so we’ll be having a bbq outside :)
Hi Bakerella! I hope you are feeling better! Cute necklace! I will share what I call my useless talent – I know most words to most songs. Really! My friends call me Jukebox. = )
Favorite donut by far, is from our hometown grocery store Hegedorn”s and is the lemon filled with white frosting or powdered sugar! Delish!!
So glad you are doing better! I thought something might be going on when you hadn’t posted anything new for awhile.
Those donuts look SO good – but sadly not part of my diet. A donut necklace would be perfect though because it will last in my house much longer than a real donut would AND it has no calories! :) That’s my fun fact for you I guess, that I am on a diet – but it doesn’t stop me from visiting bakerella and even trying my hand at some of your recipes!
I read about you and Savannah and all I can say is, Bakerella, you rock!
Boston Cream is my go-to donut; however, I do not believe that I have found or made THE PERFECT donut yet.
Loooove the blueberry cake donuts…and the chocolate eclairs and the glazed and the sprinkles…ohhh, you get the picture!
A friend of mine recently turned me onto your blog. I made the cupcake pops (in white & purple) for the March of Dimes fundraiser at my work. It was a success. I can’t wait to make them w/ strawberry cake & pink melts.
I am thankful for my family and friends. I love just about any kind of donut….. Thanks for a chance to win….

So glad you are feeling better…., Love the necklace…, when I was little my mom made us doughnuts with sugar frosting on top, not the fancy one like right now… but taste really good…I love small doughnuts, so you can eat them 10 but not feeling quilty.
I am so glad you’re feeling better – when you hadn’t done anything new as late as this past Saturday, I was really starting to wonder what had happened!
This Wednesday my Mom and I are going to make Cake Pops in the shapes of chicks and Easter Eggs, and I’m going to bring a basket of them in for my coworkers on Thursday.
I can’t wait to see their faces when they bite them and find cake inside!
So glad you’re back and doing better!
My favorite doughnut…right now it’s cherry fritters. But that red velvet one you sampled looks mighty tasty. Well, all of them do!
As far as Easter plans, I should be giving birth to my second child any day now. No really, any day. Can you hear me in there? Come out come out!
DONUTS!!! Got to love them…all of them!!!
Adorable necklace! Glad to hear you are feeling better. I always look to you for inspirations to my never-ending quest to be more creative. Off to make Easter-y cake pops for the kids teachers. Wish me luck!
I love custard filled doughnuts. I also love that you spell it as “doughnuts” also, and not “donuts” because then it should be “doYES.”
I hope you feel better soon!
oh my! those doughnuts look DIVINE!! when i was little and we’d go to the beach for a week to camp with my grandparents, my grandpa would go into town every morning and get fresh doughnuts for breakfast. my favorite was the buttermilk bar – mmmm, i can almost taste it now!!
my favorite doughnut is anything frosted with sprinkles!
I’ve never really had exciting flavour doughnuts, except one with coffee icing… Doughnuts are on my list of things to try making sometime.
Could you make cake pops with doughnut holes??
Easter isn’t really my time of year – I hate the taste of chocolate, all chocolate. As a kid I had cardboard eggs with sweets in, but I remember being particularly excited to get two sugar mice aged 7.
Glad to hear you’re better.
Now, if that isn’t the cutest necklace!!! Does it come with a box of those yummy donuts? :-)
I’m glad you’re feeling better!! I may have to look up this Sublime Bakery, that mocha one looks “A”wesome!!!
Ahhh something about myself huh??? Well I love to craft and I have a blog that I post my crafty creations on. I am in love with that necklace and if I don’t win it I may have to buy one for myself!
well i do love doughnuts dont get me wrong…..but the weirder thing about doughnuts in my life….is my husband. he LOVES krispy creme doughnuts. the way he craves them, the way he drools over them, the way he cant eat just one, well its almost disgusting but i do love my husband and i do love doughnuts…so pick me oh random picker thingy!!
The donut charm is SUPER cute but is it wrong that I’d rather have that box of donuts instead?? mmmmm…. donuts….
Weeellll…chocolate glazed with colored sprinkles has always been the favorite….but…since I have a lavender farm and am obsessed with trying all things lavender….I’m wondering if a cream filled doughnut with a lavender infused vanilla glaze would be good…whadya think?
72 nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut. :) Would love to try any of these doughnuts from Sublime!
I’m an any kind of doughnut lover! Especially Ree’s homemade glazed ones. Yum!
I’m thankful that people unselfishly choose to be Organ Donors! Hope you are feeling better soon!
Doughnuts are my favorite food! Love them! There is a local shop called dodah’s that has the best ones around here. My favorite is strawberry glazed.
I love the powdered sugar vanilla creme filled doughnuts! They make me happy!
a plain cake doughnut is always good!
I feel weird if I don’t have my nails painted :)
Really hope you are feeling better soon, Bakerella. I wondered where you were but thought prehaps you were taking an impulse holiday. Sorry you weren’t away for a fun reason and I hope you’re back to your gorgeous self soon
Something about me? I have pet chickens in my garden called Ida, Penny, Rita, Buffy, Xena, and Caprica and I use their lovely free range eggs in all my cakes, which makes me happy.
This Easter is a special one. Not only do I get to enjoy watching my little ones ravage the yard for brightly colored eggs and goodies, but it also my step daughter’s 8th birthday (she would adore such a yummy gem around her neck)!
Candy, Cake, AND Doughnuts….Perfect!!!
My favorite doughnut is a simple cinnamon twist! Yum!!
I have to work on Easter, and I only work two or three Sundays a year. Sigh. So we’re going to have the lowest-key Easter on record. Well, last year’s was pretty lame, too, but that was because I lived alone and had a loser semi-boyfriend.
Quiet Easter with husband > any Easter with loser!
I am now craving doughnuts… Thank you! It’s so sad but where I live, you can only get doughnuts at either Krispy Kreme or a local bakery. I love Krispy Kreme but that red velvet cake doughnut makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
Oh you crack me up!! Now I need a doughnut or two or three, man do those look delish!! How great are those necklaces? Hope you continue to feel better, miss your posts when you are not around.
As per what flavour, I love maple icing doughnuts, they are my go to then I would say the Bismark….ok now I will go get some…thank you for enabling me…heehee
Very cute necklace. I am grateful for my hubby who never forgets the time of year I remember my mom. He’s the best.
Wonderful Giveaway!!
I’m so glad you are better I was checking your site on the weekend with my son and I told him something must be wrong beacuse you haven’t posted and it’s just not like you and I was wondering if you were okay…..and you are, few. I hope you’re on the mends!
I L-O-V-E doughnuts… chocolate frosted are my fav! It is 12:30 and now you have me wishing for doughnuts for lunch! That sounds so much better than a sandwich!
Aww, so cute. I wonder if they ship those doughnuts.
Ooh, doughnuts sound good right now…or anytime…
When I was pregnant with my son, my guilty pleasure was the bacon maple doughnut at Voodoo Doughnuts here in Oregon. We a little ways outside of Portland, so we sometimes had to make our own at home – but store-bought maple bars with bacon on top were a pale comparison to the Voodoo version.
I am Canadian and we LOVE doughnuts! I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Canada but we have a doughnut shop called Tim Hortons and all Canadians are obsessed with it. Every single day someone from my office takes orders and heads over to the local Timies for our goodies. I currently have a box of doughnuts beside me that I am trying not to look at as unfortunately there is such a thing as too many doughnuts :(
I love to bake with my grandkids.
