Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.
Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.
One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
I am grateful for my nose. It allows me to smell the most delicious things ever. Yummy!!
Super cute necklace! I love love love smores – so i’d love to try that smore donut! The best part is that I live in Atlanta… so I might just head on over to Sublime and get one!! YUM!!! Thanks for the heads up!
Wonderful giveaway! Thanks!!
This Easter I’m making a dessert buffet for 16 people. Castagnole (Italian doughnut holes) rolled in vanilla sugar, with chocolate and honey dipping sauces. Strawberry sorbet. Key lime crumb squares. I can’t wait!
Glad you’re ok. I have a sister who’s 59 on dialysis and we all pray for a donor. I live in OK but am going down home to South Texas to spend Easter with her.
Today was my second last day of my Masters program and Ii only have a few assignments left! Gonna need to celebrate soon!
That oreo donut looks DIVINE!!!! I would love to sink my teeth into that one!!
I’m a plain glazed Krispy Kreme kind of gal, especially when they’re nice and hot.
Love the necklace and so glad that you’re feeling much better!!
I love chocolate cake donuts. Best story though: my dad loves plain cake donuts, and my brother’s ex-girlfriend (who worked at a coffee shop that sold donuts) told him that the only people aside from him who order the plain cake ones are old men and the people buying donuts for their dogs. HAH.
Cute!
Glad you’re feeling better. My dad had a kidney transplant about 10 years ago, so we know all about the challenges of being immuno suppressed, especially during cold/flu season!
Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure.
: Coconut. When buses still run on a normal schedule despite the weather. Working, since I’m Jewish. I can crack my thumb knuckle 8 times in a row. 6, though I only wear 3. Heights. Garlic knots after a long day at work.
I’m so glad you’re back and hope you’re feeling completely better very soon!
That necklace may be the cutest thing I have ever seen. Donuts always remind me of my uncle. His two favorite foods are pizza and donuts. :)
sooooo yummy!! smores with creme filling – looks delicious!!
I’m heading to Boston, MA for Easter weekend with my boyfriend, and I’m super excited! He used to live there, and I’ve always wanted to visit, so it’s a perfect match! Lots of eating is in store for the weekend…wish I could get my hands on those donuts, though! A-may-zing!
After reading this I now MUST take a trip to Atlanta. They all look amazing and i am extremely jealous that you tried all these flavors. YUMMY!!! I wanted to count the Butter Toffee one because i couldn’t take my eyes off of it.
New plan – figure out distance from Dallas TX to Atlanta.
Interesting tidbit about me. I often dream of taking a year off and traveling the United States and eating my way thru it at fabulous places like this. Good thing i started running this year so that i won’t become the size of the USA.
Glad you are feeling better! Love you and every stinking cute thing you do!!!
I’m the mommy of 4 amazing boys the wife of a Air Force Man and I love your ideas, you are so creative and fun.
Ok I seriously have to have some of those donuts shipped to CA now! YUM!
Hmm let’s see…something interesting…my first and middle names are from songs. Corrina from Corrina, Corrina (but I hated it in junior high, hence the K and Kori) and Lara from Dr Zhivago. It was my dad’s idea.
Oh and I married a man that I’ve gone to school with since 3rd grade (even though we never dated in school). Disgusting huh? :)
I’m glad you are feeling better. Please tell me the donuts helped you heal ;)
That is stinkin’ cute! I love donuts. I so want some this morning. I might just have to take a walk across the street and get one. Yummy!
I am not a fan of doughnuts at all but those look SO good that I would actually eat them. My daughters both LOVE doughnuts and that is such a cute necklace! If I were to win the necklace it would go to them (to share of course!)
ironic that this post is about donuts. i RARELY eat them because, well, let’s face it, they’re little “fat pills”. well my hubby and i woke up sun morning and decided it was a donut kinda day. we decided on a local donut shop that my family used to go all the time when i was a kid. it had been probably 15-20 years since i’d been there.
oh. my gosh. delicious…
i had forgotten why they had been such a family favorite! fresh, airy, sinfully sweet peanut butter frosted donuts with strawberry jam filling :)
i will be hitting the gym hard this week thanks to sunday’s nutritional mis-step but boy was it was worth it…
cute necklace! and yummy doughnuts! glad to hear that you’re feeling better!
LOVE donuts/doughnuts! I don’t there there are any that I really dislike…Yum! I think if I had to choose, either Krispy Kreme or sour cream doughnuts! I love that they are dense and cake-like (since I am obessed with cake!).
I am planning on making these cute bunny feet in a carrot patch cupcakes that are from the Hello, Cupcake book for Easter! I’m also planning on trying my first hand at cake pops EVER! So excited!
Glad to hear you are getting better! :-)
Mmmmmm… I love Dunkin Donuts (having grown up in NH) and miss them very much now that we live in CA! My fave is Boston Creme, yummmm.
I pray to the Lord that you feel better, and recover to your happy enthusiastic self.I am extremely grateful for the gift of life.I am extremely grateful to the Lord for making me love unconditionally.I am very grateful to have found my hidden talent for baking at 22.I am very grateful to have the internet to learn so many tutorials and appreciate the amazing baking tools available outside.God Bless you for sharing and caring.
Donuts are the bomb. I grew up making donuts for our church’s youth group, it was our big money maker. Even though I am older I still enjoy going back to the church and making donuts. My mom and cousin still make them for a festival once a year.
Wow! Cutest necklace ever ~ going to check their website to see if they’re online :) I think my favorite doughnut is a hot one from Krispy Kreme ~ those and my mom’s recipe ~ hot out of the fryer!!
Oh no! We just moved from Atlanta to Baltimore two months ago, and I never even heard about Sublime!! How did I ever miss it? I must let all my friends back in the ATL know aobut it!
So glad to hear that you are feeling better :) I did not think to check if you were okay..I just thought you were extremely busy with your (much anticipated) book! I am surely not known for impulse buying..but i think i would have had to for such a cute necklace! When i was little my mom and dad would stop at the wonderful Mister Donut in Forest Park, Ga. to get the most delicious doughnuts!! Thank you for the Sublime post.
My fave doughnuts are just plain simple ones, covered in sugar. and they have to be hot!! They sell them at the seaside usually. yum yum yum yum XD x
i’m gad your feeling better.I suddenly have the craving for a glazed donut my favorite yum : }
I am VERY thankful that I have gone an entire year without having a major Multiple Sclerosis flare-up. It has been a great year and I hope many more just like it are to come.
I love the classic old fashion donuts… or the glazed.. Yummm :)
I currently have 10 pairs of heals under my desk at work. And by the way… I LOVE donuts.
Favorite donut right now is a Krispy Kreme cake donut. I’m hoping to try something from Holey Doughnuts (mail order doughnuts recommended by Hungry Girl) soon to compare. :)
LOVE IT! These doughnuts make me want to go off my wedding diet!!!!
i love the necklace, it is So cute. I am glad you are feeling better. Just try to take it easy!!i have a weakness for doughnuts!! my favorites are the powered donuts and the chocolate cover doughnuts covered with nuts!! YUMMY!!!!!
I share your love for donuts. I like to try them all but when all is said and done, I always gravitate to the glazed ones. However, I wish I could taste everyone of them in your post. Love the necklace too. I hope I win.
Beth
Glad you are feeling better , so miss your fabulous posts. Favourite doughnut for me is a Tim Horton’s French Cruller…… yummy.
Glad you are feeling better. If I don’t win the necklace I’ll gladly take a few day old donut from that place!
Something about myself…I can recite the alphabet backwards!
(pick me pick me pick me)
Easter makes me homesick for sandy chicken on the desert with the fam. Love Easter, Love Spring, LOVE NO SNOW!!!
That necklace is adorable! We’re doing the “divide and conquer” family strategy this Easter – brunch with one, dinner with the other! And our appetizer? McD’s french fries! (With specialty dipping sauces by me, of course.)
I’ll be creating a kick arse madhatter cake for my son who will be turning 2 on Easter Sunday.
I’m happy you are feeling better. Very cute necklace.
Hmmm…Something about myself, I just made my kids smoothies and cake balls for breakfast!
My favorite doughnut is vanilla with sprinkles. I can count the abc’s backward and stand on one leg.
This doughnut necklace is so cute! Reminds me of when I was little and my dad and I would get a dozen donuts on random Sundays for a treat. My favorite flavor is the vanilla kreme filled from Dunkins, but the oreo above looks amazing!
I am thankful for my wonderful sister who is taking my son on all sorts of awesome adventures for his springbreak!
I love apple fritters!
And I love the donut necklace!!!
I’m a donut lover from waaaay back, but I didn’t realize what I was missing until I made some old fashioned donuts from scratch one day. I can’t go back.
I watched Savannah’s video. The warning about a getting a Kleenex, should have said, “get a handful of Kleenex!” That is so wonderful seeing the nurses and doctors doing things that save and change lives and I wonder what I am doing for the good of mankind. Makes me think about all the time I waste. I could be doing more good things. Anyway, love your blog. Wish I lived in Atlanta to taste Sublime’s donuts.
This Easter my brother-in-law is coming to visit for his birthday so we can take him to a Muse concert and I can bake him a fudgey chocolate cheesecake! (his pick :D)
God bless you for what you have been through. Thank you for your selflessness to share your amazing creativity with us. My favorite doughnut is lemon filled anything! Blessings and Happy Easter.
love your blog, love your recipe, doughnut?
just petit four shape like doughnut, I made once for my boyfriend!!!!!
I just love pink icing!
Nothing beats a good glazed donut before the glaze hardens!
I love donuts. I think just a plain, glazed or sugar-cinnamon dusted one is my favorite. My great-aunt used to make them, good memories. :)
Yumm, Now I want a donut!
Glad to hear your feeling better. The donuts look wonderful, but I don’t eat them often.
Your necklace is beautiful, maybe I can win for my DD’s b-day Friday, she loves donuts…
Hi! I hope you are feeling better and I am sorry you had to go to the hospital. I hope that what ever it was it never comes back. To answer your questions: Your favorite doughnut flavor? My favorite is Boston cream. Something you’re grateful for? A lot of things, for one my hubby and son, another one all the sweet things life has to offer. What you’ll be doing this Easter? I will be decorating our church to celebrate Easter and spending it with family. Some usual or unsusual talent you have? I can draw. How many pair of shoes you own? About 25 pairs. Phobias? I am scared of the dark, because I have very poor eyesight, I have to wear contacts or glasses all the time, but when I go to bed obviously I don’t them, so I am afraid of something bad happening and not being able to find them in time. Favorite guilty pleasure? CHOCOLATE! Surprise me. I love this planet, horses, people and baking! Congratulations on your blog it is really awesome work you do!
I’m allergic to gluten, but I love to bake! So this Easter I’m going to do some experimental baking and make treats for all my friends!
I breastfed a lactose intollerant baby last year and went more than a year without a donut….love them! I like the ones with choco icing. My preferred brand is Shipley’s (local?). I am an organ donor and my family has become blood donors after I need a lot for a difficulty birth. I don’t wish my experience on anyone, but wish others could understand and see the importance of organ and blood donation.
a donut party sounds amazingly delicious right about now… totally drooling over the pics…
hehe :D
A little something about me – I have 2 beautiful (I mean the most beautiful in the world!) kids! They are both little monsters but I love them anyway! LOL! I LOVE maple doughnuts but that A-Town Mocha sounds devine! I am grateful for my savior Jesus Christ! We’ll be doing the whole Easter Egg hunt/photo shoot on Easter. (Don’t tell anyone that we’ll be skipping the massive crowds at Easter Service. Ssh!) I have a talent for needing to spend a couple of days in the hospital every year. (Don’t ask … it’s pathetic!) I own 5 pairs of shoes. (What can I say, I’m a Mom who has no time or money left over to shop for herself.) I’m deathly afraid of heights. My guilty pleasure is a great big double sized cup of Cinnamon Tea Latte! SURPRISE! (I answered them all – does that get me extra points? LOL!) Oh, and I LOVE your blog! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
My god, those donuts look amazing! Donuts really are the new cupcakes.
That necklace is adorable! I have not had a doughnut in so long, but my favorite doughnut from my childhood was a glazed one shaped like a doughman with big creamcheese frosting eyes and chocolate smile. Most of the time it was just a glazed doughnut, but around holidays, the baker would accessorize them accordingly! Yum….!!
If you’re a doughnut lover and you live in Utah there is one doughnut that tops them all! And that’s Dunford’s chocolate on chocolate cake doughnut. It is the best and you can find one fresh every day at every gas station in the Salt Lake and Utah Valley. Mmmm….doughnut.
What I will tell you is a funny doughnut story…When my daughter was about 3 we went to a 4th of July party and I gave her 1/2 of a doughnut…quite a treat because we didn’t let her eat sweets much (we had a second child and all that went out the window!)..after she ate it she said to me ‘that was the best BAGEL ever’!!!
I would love to give her the cute doughnut necklace :-)
I love baking and I am so grateful that I stumbled onto your blog. It is one of my fave baking sites!! Hope you feel better.
I am fulfilling a lifelong dream starting next week. I will be attending Le Cordon Bleu cooking school — to study Pastry!!!!!
I love plain cake donuts :) Prayers for your recovery Bakerella
So glad you’re feeling better! My favorite is the super basic chocolate with chocolate frosting and chopped nuts, but my boyfriend always “makes” me take a huge bite of his apple fritter when we go for doughnuts. I am slowly being wooed. This Easeter I will be attempting to replicate your easter basket cupcakes, can’t wait to decorate the tops!
I’m so glad to hear that you are feeling better!
Those doughnuts look AMAZING! Next time we come up to Georgia, we’ll have to stop in and get some!
Ever since I was a kid, I have loved jelly doughnuts… especially strawberry or lemon!
And… I’m terrified of frogs… paralyzed with fear whenever I see one! Blech!!!
Paul’s Bakery regular glazed donut holes are my favorite. =)
I love your site – glad you’re feeling better!
Hi Bakerella,
I hope you are feeling better now. Life isn’t the same without your weekly posts :-)
I lOVE chocolate old fashioned donuts (i’m boring, I know) But the red velvet looks divine! oh, i hope i can win, sooo cute!
This necklace is SO cute! I love apple fritter donuts :)
wow those doughnuts look AMAZING!
my favorite kind of doughnut is powdered bavarian creme….YUM!
Favorite donut is chocolate buttermilk.
Sooo glad you are feeling better! Sorry you have been ill. You truly were missed!
I L*O*V*E doughnuts – but am not to be trusted with them. Thus, I have not eaten one in four years. This necklace would be perfect for me. I could have a doughnut and not have to endure guilt.
I’m grateful for my beautiful family this Easter!
Hi!
This giveaway is the CUTEST one EVER :D
My favorite doughnut (so far!) Is the simple pink strawberry frosting one!
I am going to a Seder tonight!
Hope I win :D
Have you ever heard the comment a day late and a dollar short? Well I feel like that. I was just in Atlanta for a two day visit and I thought about using the hotel computer to view my emails but I didn’t. I wish I had. I would have made a visit to Sublime’s. I was right there. Sorry I missed it because I love donuts. And I love the necklace. Hope I win it.
I love donuts from this one local bakery by my house – no others can compare! Love the necklace!
and just realized I accidentally posted the above without my info! (comment number 3312)
That necklace is adorable! Glad you are feeling better!
I love apple fritters nice and warm, or maple bars. I have never particularly enjoyed the flavor of maple, but maple bars have been my fav since I was little.
We’re going on an Alaska Cruise in July. It’ll be our first cruise ever! Very excited. I would love to do a zip line adventure….BUT my fear of heights keeps me very, very grounded. Just some random info for ya. lol. Thanks for the giveaways.
One of my “guilty” pleasures is your site and a few other blogs – I have 7 (yes, SEVEN) children and have very little time for myself. I recently had to return to work due to my husband’s job being in the tank- thus, Monday’s are my day off and oh, how I look forward to your blog every Monday when I get the 5 oldest off to school and the 3 littles entertained so I can have a moment of peace. Thank you for the fun things to look forward to on Mondays! You amaze me!!
I really want to dye my hair turquoise but I work in an incredibly conservative office so that’s a no go, it’s such a bummer! I think I’ll have to have a donut to help me get over my disappointment :)
I just found out that I’ll be on call working at the hospital this Easter. So sad to miss all the time with my familiy!
Favorite doughnut flavor: Boston Creme (I’m a simple gal!)
That is so cute!
I can’t pass by Krispy Kreme without stopping by. Good thing it’s in the next town over! I’m going to have a morning meeting at my house just so I can have an excuse to drive over and pick up a couple of boxes of donuts!
My favorite donut is chocolate glazed!
Sorry you were in the hospital! Hope you’re well.
I craved doughnuts when I was pregnant with my first son. The rotten thing is, I had gestational diabetes… so no doughnuts for me. UGH. But I still love me some Daylight Donuts, baby.
I’ll be attempting the adorable Spring Chick Pops for Easter this year. Can’t wait!!!
Reason 1,752 I love attending Georgia Tech: Sublime is just across 10th street from campus! The A-town mocha has been my staple doughnut since I’ve been in college.
My favorite donuts are from Scrumpy’s Cider Mill (now gone) in NJ. We used to ditch school in October and make a run for cider donuts with cinnamon/sugar coating!! The best ever! I’m making cake pops for my mother-in-law’s birthday on Saturday– first time ever! Hope it goes well, it is my test run for my sister-in-law’s bridal shower in May! Thanks for the inspirations and I hope you’re feeling better.
Hi,
Glad you are feeling better.
The necklace is adorable! My favoritte flavor is a maple bar!!!
Happy Easter!
I have to say i did notice you hadn’t posted anything, bit i just thought you where busy. I am glad to hear you are doing better . I am a firm supporter of Donating organs. I am glad you are better. God Bless you with HEALTH and lots of Love this Easter.
I am glad you are feeling better.
I am very greatful for my husband. He understands that when you have a dream you should find a way to make it come true. So when I asked him if I could buy a new motorcycle cause one day I would like to race, he was all for it, and very excited for me. He is a great man for encouraging me to get that much closer to my dream.
Glad you’re feeling better. Love your site. Taking a break from tax returns right now. I”m an accountant by day and baker by night :-)
I have had a foster boy for 9 months. When I first got him, he had never baked or made anything before. We made banana bread together. I have never seen a face light up at baking as big as his. It was quite an adventrure. I am grateful for your ideas because they have been fun to do together. He is leaving in a few weeks, but I will always remember the treats we made.
ummm how do you spell YUM!!
hi! Im from Mexico City! and my favorite doughnut flavor is the one that its fill with dulce de leche!
on saturday I make your Cheesecake recipe and it was delicious!!!!
Your posts are so fun!
All those doughnuts look so yummy. If I had to choose a favorite, I love all things berry.
I’m glad you are feeling better, and hope you will stay healthy.
I just finished my 12 hour night shift and am just “running on fumes”, but I HAD to check bakerella.com!!!! Glad you’re doing ok, Bakerella! My favorite all-time dough-nut is a classic old fashioned with chocolate frosting! Yum!
My favorite doughnut ever is the creme brulee doughnut at The Doughnut Plant in NYC. They are seriously life changing!
I have been having cravings for Boston Creme my entire pregnancy but I’ve been good and only have had 3 so far. At just about 35 weeks, I think that’s not too bad.
I cannot wait to color eggs with my niece and nephew this Easter! I bought a special “gold” coloring egg kit that is going to make our eggs look beautiful. Hopefully the weather will hold and we will get to have a hunt outside!
Glad you feel Better!!!! Its no fun to be sick!!….about me…I blog hop to much and don’t get enough done….at least thats how I’m feeling today…
I think I just drooled all over my keyboard!! How yummy do those donuts look?! OMG!! The donuts are so creative and look very inviting!
Glad you’re feeling better…take care of yourself. :)
I don’t think i really have a favorite doughnut. I always find myself on cloud nine whatever the flavor I’m enjoying. Although, I am a sucker for ANYTHING that is cream or jelly filled. (:
Happy Days!
– Your devoted kinemortophobic reader <3
So glad you are feeling better! I am spending Easter with my family, including my husband, who returned last week from a deployment with the Air Force. So while I would like to say I’ll be making something fabulous – It will be more about the relaxing family time this year. Maybe next year. I have a feeling we’ll sneak in some fun sugar cookies though ……
Nothing makes me happier than thunderstorms. And doughnut necklaces. :)
I love doughnuts!!! Doughnuts, ice cream, and cupcakes are my top 3 favorite treats.
I have too many guilty pleasures to list. Especially now that I’m on Weight Watchers! what’s nice is that I can at least eat some of the guilty pleasures, just not in the quantity that I like. ;)
My son always says ‘I like cake donuts’ even though he doesn’t know what that means and wont even eat a donut–he says it because that’s what I like. It’s sweet when he repeats the GOOD things I say :)
Bakerella, you may love donuts, but I happen to be crazy for cookies ! :)
(That being said those donuts still look absolutely delish!)
Hi. Something I’m grateful for…my awesome family!!!!
Something about myself…this Friday my 19 month old son will participate in his first Easter egg hunt (and there will be cupcakes there!) I’m so excited
Donuts look awesome! I’m..really hungry now.
I worked at a doughnut shop for a few months. I liked having access to the cream cheese doughnuts but I hated mopping the sugar-flour-and-egg encrusted floor every night.
I was in the hospital recently too! I’m glad to hear you’re better. :)
Your story and Savannah’s story made me cry, but in a good way. I am grateful to organ donors and their families, who face the worst decision ever and have the courage to make the right choice
I am definately an apple fritter person
I love that necklace! I’ve been looking for a dessert-shaped necklace for so long! My all time favorite donut is from a little donut shop down on Marco Island, FL. It was a traditional glazed donut with CANNOLI filling, and on top was a chocolate glaze, chocolate chips, and some pistachio nuts. So delicious!
mmmmm Thank you for sharing… these look soooo good!!
Glad you are feeling better!
Oh wow – what to say…well, per your suggestions, for Easter this year I will be spending time with friends and extended family in Utah (and hopefully leaving the rain in Washington behind…) :)
While we’re there, we’ll be visiting my mom’s favorite bakery, Parson’s Bakery, so I’ll pick up a Maple Bar! :)
HAPPY EASTER!
guilty pleasure is most definitely trash reality tv… and i only own 3 pairs of shoes. pink chucks, red chucks, and black chucks.
Super cute necklace! My favorite donut has to be the chocolate creme filled ones at Dunkin Donuts. We don’t have any good local donut shops here, unfortunately.
This doughnut post is killing me! They all look so good, and I bet not a one is gluten-free. (le sigh) Though most of the time it doesn’t bother me, this gluten-free thing gets me every once in a while – like for doughnuts.
About myself, huh? I’m a firefighter, which allows me to live like Peter Pan (never have to grow up). This Easter I’m going to have friends over for my family’s Easter breakfast tradition – creamed eggs (sliced hard-boiled eggs in a parmesan cream sauce over biscuits), and then we are all going to a Renaissace festival in McDade, TX. If I can’t be with my family this year, this was my next best plan.
Boy, were you missed! I wish you a speedy recovery and hope that you will be completely better soon. My husband and I are transplants to Connecticut and we are REALLY missing good doughnuts! We have searched high and low and I don’t think there is one to be found in the ENTIRE state! We must travel to NYC to find one! Sad :( I didn’t realize just how spoiled we were living 10 minutes from Round Rock Doughnuts in Texas….the absolute BEST doughnuts ever! If you are ever in the Austin area check them out. It is worth the detour!
Sorry to hear you were sick, but glad to know you’re on the mend now. And I can’t stop thinking about doughnuts now– no NON-favorites, exactly– I kind of love them all. I could say that I have given them up for Lent, as I just realized I haven’t actually HAD any during Lent, but I don’t think I’m going to make it now! I usually can’t turn down chocolate cake doughnuts with nuts or coconut, or just plain glazed. And now I have my eye on this s’mores business… *sigh* Looks like Sublime does some beautiful work!
I could easily sit down and eat a dozen doughnuts without a second thought! Oh how heavenly they are!
wow over 3000 comments, You are one popular gal. Something about myself?……. You have inspired me to be a home baker. I love love love baking and your site has helped me so much. So thank you miss bakerella!
Yummy! Love the necklace.
That necklace is precious! My favourite doughnuts are just plain glazed or old fashioned flavours! Lemon jelly are pretty good as well!
My daughter made your peanut butter cup cake for our county fair this past week and got a perfect score….who can resist chocolate and peanut butter?? I love this site and visit almost daily hoping I will see something new!
OMG, I’m STARVING for doughnuts now! lol And I’m trying to be sooo good today! Thank GOD there aren’t any doughnut shops near by, b/c I’d be going crazy over some chocolate cake and blueberry cake doughnut holes right now =)
I loved hearing about these fabulous doughnuts! I am originally from A town and love going to little places when I am home for a visit. My husband is in the Army and we move all the time. It’s great to get back into town once in awhile and feel a bit centered . . .I guess like a doughnut! Cheesy YES!
I can put my socks on using my toes. And I’ve missed you, glad you’re back!
Doughnuts are one treat you can never say No Thanks to. I wondered why you had not posted…just thought your book was taking up your time…of which I am soooo looking forward to purchase.
So glad to hear you are feeling a little bit better.
Favorite donut is maple bars. Second favorite is anything creamy or jelly filled. Now that I found out I am allergic to dairy and lactose intolerant, having been eating donuts much! But still love them. Anyone have a lactose free version of donuts?
Hope you are feeling better! Wishing for a speedy recovery :)
That is an adorable necklace! Thanks for sharing!
This Easter will be spent at home, hopefully planting our garden. We’ll be grateful this summer when we have lots of fresh produce and herbs. Enjoy your holiday!
I will be making a wedding cake for this coming weekend :)
I collect Swarovski. I started back in 1998 from a piece my father gave to me as a gift. I have over 3000 pieces now! I only have a small curio so I have to rotate through and display only a few at a time. This would be an awesome addition to my collection!
My favorite donuts are probably homemade sophganiot (jelly filled donuts that me and my family eat at Hannukah.)
I’m so glad you are feeling better! I love plain old glazed donuts the best!
If it were up to my 4yr old, we’d have donuts every day! Good thing we don’t live in A Town or I’d be eating the one w/oreo or the yummy mocha
Donuts aren’t my absolute favorite treat, but I would not be able to control myself around anything covered in dark chocolate!!
I am looking forward to spending time with out of town family this weekend! It’s great to get together with them!
I looove looking at pictures of cuuute things and I absolutely love your baking creations! My favourite donut flavour is anything with Chocolate in/on it!
Those donuts look awesome! and so the necklace, i think that my favorite its the star : )
Omg, I want those doughnuts!! Aiyee.
Aha, I like Powerpuff Girls. :D
nothing to do with any of the questions you asked, but I worked in a donut shop in high school and at the end of the work day (about noon for us) we’d get into trouble for our creme filling fights… :P
Such a cute necklace! I love apple fritters!
Glad to hear you are feeling better! We missed you! And now….I must go and have a dougnut!
Hmmmm so many doughnuts.. I would have eaten a dozen myself! Def taking a trip to Atlanta for those.
I love that necklace almost as much as a love doughnuts :) :)
Ohhh my goodness. I literally drooled all over my computer looking at the delish donuts! Mmmmm. I would kill to try the mocha one…or the smores one! Oh man…drooool.
I do-nut know which doughnut is my favorite, but I appreciate them all for the smile they become after you take the first bite!
I LOVE doughnuts. For us, they were always a birthday treat. My mom would take my sister and I to the doughnut shop before school, and we would eat them in the car. For my mom, she’d always get plain doughnuts. My sister- plain with chocolate glaze and rainbow sprinkles. For me- pretty much anything that looks ridiculously unhealthy, preferably chocolate.
Something I’m grateful for… that one is easy… March 1 of this year I almost lost my son (16 months)…. he snuck out of my parents house (we had just stopped by) via the doggy door and fell into the pool. By the time I got to him he was blue, not breathing, no pulse… I (8 months pregnant) jumped in, grabbed him, gave him CPR and he was breathing again before the paramedics or police had arrived…. worst and best day of my life. I’m so grateful to still have my little monkey in my life!!!
oo those are soo cute and the donuts look sooooooo good! I WANT ONE! my favorite donut is the strawberry with sprinkles :]
I’m pretty sure that Smores donut is my favorite, even though I’ve never had it before. Mmmmmmsmores.
Bad timing! I just looked at your blog right before lunch and guess what I want…a doughnut or two! We’re glad you’re ok. I thought my computer had gotten stuck! Welcome back.
I am so glad you are back !! and that all is well. last night I checked in and it was still the last post from 2 weeks ago, I hoped you hadn’t given up blogging for authoring cookbooks! I am glad you are well now!
my favorite doughnuts are the old fashions, not the cake doughnuts but the ones that have a spirally edge and are very light almost hollow inside, very eggy and moist , YUMM
dammit now I needs a doughnut!
My home town (surprisingly enough) doesn’t have ANY locally made doughnuts, so all I get are Krispy Kreme sour cream doughnuts. but they’re the bomb, so it’s okay.
I have had cupcake fever for a while now, but I may just have to change my fever to donuts. Those look amazing. I don’t think we have any donut places that make donuts that look that amazing. I do love me just a plan glazed donut, though. Thanks for the chance to win the necklace.
Donuts are the best! Those look delish!!
Love that darling donut necklce! Too cute! Anyway, when I was growing up a Dunkin’ Donuts moved into our small town. Every Saturday morning my dad would wake me up to ask what kind of donut I wanted. I always told him the very same thing (French Crullers) but every Saturday he woke me up anyway just to ask. Finally when I was in high school, I sat up in bed and told him to never bring me another donut! And he didn’t! But I still love donuts!
I hate doughnuts. Because I love doughnuts and gave up deep-fried food for 2010. What ever was I thinking???
Phobia?…maybe not so much a phobia, but helocopters scare me …well, as do squirrels. Yeah, I’m a big baby :)
I love the doughnut necklace. i also love the phenomenon of starch retrogradation. It is actually the process of bread staling. But it is so fun to reverse the process with a quick zap in the microwave or under the broiler!! (for pizza!!!)
If you think about it, it really is crazy that you can re-freshen bread by a quick zap- and the science is all in the starch molecules….
Glad you’re feeling better. <3 that donut necklace :)
What a “sweet” necklace!
My all time fav donut is the Maple bar. It reminds me of sweet maple syrup that my Grandpa makes every year. He built his own sugar house on his property in upstate NY and taps his own maple trees. Best syrup in the world!
Hands-down the best doughnuts I’ve ever had were my Great-Aunt Floss’s. Plain yeast doughnuts with a glaze made with oranges from her orange tree … I still dream about them!
Hello
I love donuts and even better I love buying them for my wife.
I would love to win that lovely necklace for her.
I wish I were retired

love the donuts, makes me want to leave Canada and head to Georgia, purely to enjoy a bite.
my fave flavor has always been Boston creme with venetian filling. yum!
I’m so sorry that you have been sick and have been in the hospital! I hope that you are feeling better!!
For Easter we will be going to church and then I will be hosting Easter dinner for the first time. Its just a few of our friends but I’m still excited.
That is the cutest necklace!
I heart donuts…my favorites are: An old fashioned donut, glazed donut, crumb donut, apple fritter and lastly, a cinnamon roll donut. And if they weren’t so fattening, I would eat them all of the time:)
Favorite doughnut flavor would have to be a good blueberry cake one! Rats, now I want one! :)
Adorable….favorite is just one little chocolate munchkin from DD.
Precious! Here’s my Atlanta doughnut confession… I went to college in the city and my boyfriend lived around the corner from the distribution store for the other local Krispy Kreme stores. Our deal: if the hot sign was on, you couldn’t NOT stop. And it was always on. A half-dozen hot glazed for him; a lemon-filled for me.
Maple frosted cinnamon swirl yeast raised donut….yum!!!!!! and a close second is chocolate honey dipped yeast raised!
custard filled donuts! YUMMMEEEE
I also love getting donuts from ‘Fractured Prune’ in Ocean City Maryland (double yummee)
Hi there
YUM
Fun post and wonderful necklace. MMMM donuts
I love the chocolate filled chocolate donuts the best but I do not think I have ever said NO to a donut.
Cheers
Catie
This is Spring Break week in my state of WA so the hubs and I are taking daughter & friend camping in our trailer – hope to find some sun! I have fun Easter treats for both girls for Sunday morning :-)
wow – those look so yummy! i really love donuts, but only allow myself the pleasure occasionally. thank goodness there is nothing that tempting in my small town.
about me: just found out we have our 3rd little donut in the fryer! ;)
phobia: FRUIT!!!!! Especially anything in the berry family. I will not go near them or anyone who has eaten them! And they can’t touch my food, that is cross contamination!
That is the prettiest dough nut…without the calories I have seen! Love that!

This Easter I am spending it with my family. Since Orthodox and Catholic Easter are on the same weekend, Saturday I am spending it with my Orthodox side and Sunday with my Catholic side. I will be making Martha Stewart’s chick cupcakes, but after I saw your chick cake pops and your bunny cupcakes I am re-thinking my decision. Mmmm for baked goods! :)
I love Easter morning brunch because it is the one time of the year when we get to eat hot crossed buns. I love the little fruits in them and could probably eat a dozen all by myself- if it wasn’t for the chocolate candies & other sweet treats…
Random fact: right now I’m drinking chocolatey chai tea with lemon-ginger biscuits. Delish!
P.S. That oreo donut looks AMAZING.
I love to bake:-) But I HATE cooking for two people….give me 12 people to feed…and I’m happy:-)
Good Morning
I LOVE donuts any flavor any kind YUM
Darci
Oh, how cute is this!
This would so brighten up me, living in my donut-deprived town!
Hope you’re feeling better, too!
Something about me…hmmm…My grandparents used to live in Acworth, Ga. We used to drive into Atlanta and there was this place (I am ancient, BTW) called, I believe, Storyland? I loved that place!
I know it’s no longer there, but someday, I’m coming back to that land of red mud and pine trees!
Once in college, I went to Krispy Kreme when I wasn’t quite sober (don’t worry, I didn’t drive), and somehow talked an employee into running my doughnut through the glaze train multiple times… Talk about sugar coma. *I’d do it all over again*
This is the most adorable necklace! I’m in California awaiting the birth of #2 granddaughter. I’d love to win this necklace to give to #1 granddaughter, Kayla who is almost 4 years old! Great giveaway!
I’ve lost the ability to taste the difference between bad coffee and okay coffee since I had laryngitis this winter. :(
Glad you’re feeling better! Take care.
