Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  1. Hmmm… something about me. I was gonna go with doughnut flavour, but unfortunately it’s a boring one. Howevevr, I would walk over hot coals to find out what the ‘Kreme’ is in Krispy Kreme’s chocolate covered kreme filled.

This Easter, I will be going to a farm park with my daughter to feed baby lambs. Tiny, bleeting ones, with wagging woolly tails. Fortunately she is too young to associate these with the ones whose shanks she loves roasted with honey and dates.

  2. What are the chances of being chosen here? Not good, but I’ll try anyway because that necklace is just too cute! Fun fact: This Easter weekend I will be doing a little cross-border shopping in Buffalo with my Mom and sister…I would look cuter with that necklace on…

  3. Donuts are my weakness! I still remember my mom making donut & donut holes from refrigerator biscuits, using a pill bottle to cut the holes. She would fry and then shake them in a paper bag full of sugar. Good memories!

  4. this is my second attempt at writing…… I had to wipe away a dribble caused by your dozen sampler and somehow lost my draft.
I adore donuts. I married my hubby because he adores them and we can have date night at the donut shop and agree that we are normal.
I’m so glad you are feeling better and I think you found the perfect comfort food.
    Blessings!

  5. When I don’t feel like baking, my secret indulgence is eating brown sugar…right out of the bag.

  6. I love warm, glazed and cinnamon donuts, especially if they’re twisted. However, I am a sucker for powered strawberry or raspberry jelly filled.

I would love to try that Oreo donut or the peanut butter cup donut. Yum, yum, yum. :)

I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better, Bakerella!

  7. Love the smores!! I bake for everyone, except I can’t eat my sweet treats- I am diabetic.

  8. I’ve been a hit at our school ever since I’ve found your site! Thank YOU!

  9. I am so grateful for online friends like as you that have such a sense of humor! You allow me to escape my not-so-great-right-now world and smile, relate and know that I have friends out there I just haven’t met yet -with the same likes, loves and let’s enjoy life attitudes. Thanks girl – let’s go bake something! Donna

  10. i’ll be doing lots of baking and spending time during easter! I’m an artist and i love the plain jane donuts.. might sound weird but just the sour cream glazed plain one is my favourite!

  11. I love any kind of doughnut, but my favorite is a cream-filled, chocolate covered doughnut…if I have choices, that would be the one I would pick!

  12. I LOVE doughnuts but i don’t eat them because they aren’t good for me!

  13. Those are so cute. I’m drooling.

  14. I’m so glad you are feeling better!
I’m enjoying spring break with my kids this week and trying not to succumb to their illness from last week.
I wish so very much there was a unique donut shop near me that had the power to make me weep with joy :o)
And that necklace is super cute-

  15. I can twirl a pen around my thumb. Great skill when you are bored and taking notes or just plain bored. I think the necklace is adorable.

  16. Those look like the best tasting donuts I have ever seen. I am glad you got to enjoy them.

  17. I am a 24 year old stay at home mom to the cutest two year old EVER.
    I love to cook.
I have lived in Georgia my whole life.
I love regular glazed doughnuts. But this post makes me want to try every flavor in the world!
My husband was my first date EVER. At 18 years old. We got married when I was 20.
Death by sharks is my worst fear.
Oh, and I love your blog. And those necklaces!

There ya go! Lots of mini-facts about me. :)

  18. Absolutely love it!
I wish i lived near this fab doughnut shop!
I have as many pairs of shoes as toffee squares in that doughnut!!

  19. Oh how I LOVE doughnuts! I’ll take a do-nut over pie, cake, cookies most any days. I married my hubby because he is such a goof about doughnuts and we can have date night dessert at our favorite do-nut shop.
Your dozen samples literally caused me to wipe away a dribble!!

  20. OHH I love donuts…everything donuts…that necklace is adorable. We have Lamar’s donuts here in KC!

  21. favorite donut: apple fritter

thing i am most thankful for: the willpower today not to go out and buy a dozen, and eat them all while sinfully watching another stupid episode of “the real housewives” of anything.

    pick me!

  22. I gave up sweets for Lent and so a few times a week I look at your blog to remind me of the sacrifice. I feel it deep too. I love, love, love sugar.

  23. I’m going to share a couple things about myself :)

    1. I absolutely love your website, and your beautiful and delicious creations make me smile constantly.

    2. They also keep me in touch with my best friend, giving us something to discuss on a regular basis, even when we’re far apart.

    3. I hope you are feeling OK, and I hope you know how much we’re all grateful for you!

Finally my favourite donut is Tim Horton’s Canadian Maple (I’m a Canuck, lol). Its like a Boston Creme, but with Maple glaze instead of chocolate. And its positively delightful.

  24. The only doughnuts I have nearby are Tim Horton’s. I am so jealous!!

  25. Chocolate covered cake…..yum. Grateful for everything but especially my family!

  26. who knew you could have so much fun with doughnuts! LOVE IT!

  27. first time commenter! i just wanted to say that i love your site and all your amazing creations. :] i looooove these cutie pie earrings that my friend makes. she made me these awesome pacman earrings. i have a couple of doughnut earrings that i bought from her too. :))

  28. I love all of the cute cake pop ideas for Easter. I will have to make some this week for Sunday. Also loved reading about your story…..My father received a kidney transplant and thanks to that we were given 9 more years with him. I am a huge advocate for organ donation and loved that you shared this with us. Also……..doughnuts are probably my second favorite food. Second only to cupcakes :)

  29. Glad you are feeling better!

I love flavored doughnuts, but when I crave doughnuts, I always want one plain glazed, and one chocolate glazed. They are my absolute favorites!

  30. Whew——–I am so glad to see you post. I am very happy you are feeling better.

You are too sweet to offer that adorable necklace.

Take care and God Bless all donors and recipients.

    Mawcee

  31. I normally don’t like donuts…then my husband introduced me to the warm-yummy-melt-in-your-mouth flavor of Krispy Kreme…..my fav!! Plain glazed, fresh and still warm donuts are the BEST! :)

  32. Oh my! Those donuts look amazingly sinful! And that necklace is perhaps the cutest thing ever :-)

  33. aw :( I hope you’re feeling better!!!!

But damn…. these doughnuts look sooooooooooo good. The star one is super cute xD Hm. My favorite doughnut would have to be the classic homer doughnut. Pink frosted with rainbow sprinkles :D

  34. About me: have a fabulous pair of orange sandals that I enjoy wearing; made apple pie cupcakes yesterday (de-lish), and I will take one of every donut that doesn’t have coconut in it!

  35. Its not what you’ve done, its what you do next. Words to live by

  36. I’ll be honest, the Dulce de Leche donut almost took my breath away. I bet it was delicious. In the world of donuts, there isn’t much I don’t love, but I am partial to a cinnamon twist. If there was a way for me to make Easter donuts for my family, I would. Instead, I’ll be making cupcakes from “Hello, Cupcake” to take to both my family and my boyfriend’s family on Easter. It’s our first year of splitting time between the two sides, so I believe sweets are in order!

So glad you’re feeling better. I was worried.

  37. Oh. My. Goodness. Doughnuts are my absolute weakness! Those look so good. I especially like the looks of the Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter. YUM!!!!

  38. Hope you’re feeling better. Have a great Easter.

I like any doughnut with a creamy filling. But I never buy them as they go straight to the thighs. Whereas the necklace would go straight to my neck. Sounds better to me.

  39. My favorite doughnut is custard filled chocolate glazed. Yum!

I am grateful for my wonderful husband who supports me in everything I do.

My parents are flying across the country we will have easter dinner at my house.

    I love to bake (usual)

I currently have 4 pairs of shoes – just cleaned house making room for more.

I am totally phobic of heights (only surface in the last 8 years or so)

My favorite guilty pleasure is to soak in a bath readying a book (boring, I know)

  40. hmmm… fun fact: I have been as tall as I currently am (5’8) since the 6th grade. I’m on the tall side as an adult; as a child I was more like a dinosaur =).

  41. What did the fish say when it hit the wall?

    Dam.

  42. So glad you are feeling better. Thanks for a repost of the organ pops (wow, that sounds weird!). It was great to be reminded again about such a great cause.

As for my favorite donut – hmmm … I’d have to go with a classic glaze. The fresher the better!

    Thanks for the contest!!!

  43. I will always have room for a good old fashioned glazed doughnut.

Nothing fancy just plain ole good :)

  44. I am happy to hear that you are feeling better. I love doughnuts. but they have this strange habit of reappearing on my thighs. I need to get packing as I am going to visit my 2 month old grandsons in Kansas City for a few days.

  45. I’m glad you are feeling better – we were worried ’bout you!

Doughnuts – oh my. Seriously, anytime you need a ‘partner in crime’ – I’m so there.

I’m thinking it’s time to make a change – I just hope I have the courage to follow through.

  46. Dear Bakerella,

    I sure hope you’re feeling better…

What I will be doing this Easter? Moving out of my house, ready for a new and exciting chapter in my life. Can’t wait for the adventure!

Donuts will surely play a part in the packing process. But my favorite donut memory must be the one of my boyfriend’s surprise visit. Not only did he bring himself (bingo!), he brought a box of dozen delicious little donuts as well. What a treat for the weekend! :)

  47. the necklace is sooo cute. I love donuts but really only have the standard dunkin donuts where I live. I’ll take it over no donuts though. glad to see u are feeling better. I was wondering about you….

  48. ever since I can remember my favorite has been Dunkin’ Donuts’ strawberry frosted… the one with the rainbow sprinkles!

  49. Glad that you are better and back with us!

  50. chocolate cake donuts… usually donut holes… because they were the ones my daddy used to buy specially for me when we had donut days :)

  51. Glad you are feeling a little better!!
White cream-filled…none of that yellow boston creme stuff! Bleck! But honestly, nothing is better than a plain jane regular “HOT NOW” Krispy Kreme doughnut! YUM!

  52. so glad you finally found them! i am in *love* with sublime doughnuts! my favorite is the caramel toffee. or the dulce de leche. or the strawberries & cream… there’s your one face about me: i’m incurably indecisive. :)

  53. First, glad to hear you are feeling better and at home. :)

Second, I just tried a pancake bacon cupcake this weekend that was DELISH!! If you closed your eyes, there was no way you didn’t think you were eating a sit-down breakfast with pancakes and bacon. YUM!!

  54. I live in Louisiana so we always spend Easter boiling crawfish… with corn, potatoes, even sausage and mushrooms in the mix- very delicious. Hope you are feeling better.

  55. Thank you for sharing your story! I had kidney problems when I was 10. Was in the hospital for 2 weeks, undergoing all sorts of tests. That was an awful time for me, but nothing compared to what you and Savannah have gone thru! I hope you are feeling better! Love your site bunches!

  56. I am now craving a donut! I don’t think I’ve had one for years. My favorite is a glazed donut with chocolate frosting and sprinkles. Sprinkles just make it better. :)

  57. Okay, to choose a favorite donut?!? Why choose one. THis Easter has already started for me. Last night I attended the most moving and spirit filled Easter cantata that I have ever attended. My son in law played a disciple that actually helped Jesus down from the cross. The music was divine, and taking the Lord’s supper at the same time as the actors portrayed Jesus’ last supper was moving more than words. The ressurection of Jesus moved me to tears of joy. “Behold the Lamb!”

  58. Doughnuts….how I love them..it doesn’t matter what kind, though, I think a cream filled chocolate one or a raspberry powdered sugar one or…well, forget it, I was going to try to narrow it down to two or three potential favorites and all these dang flavors keep popping into my head. But really, anything with chocolate or sugar will do!!

Alas, since learning I was allergic to wheat, I’ve not had too many. Thankfully, this beautiful necklace won’t cause any reaction at all…except for pure joy!

So glad you’re feeling better! Sending good thoughts your way.

  59. Mmmmm doughnuts. Since I’ve been getting ‘older’ doughnuts have started giving me indigestion. I love them so, but can’t be eating them all the time. That’s why I love the slogan of this shop “eat one that’s worth it” because that’s my motto towards doughnuts! I’m super sad that I live all the way in Houston because these definitely look ‘worth it’! Usually I only splurge for the boston creme, but it looks like I might have to up my standards! Great post :)

  60. Umm, my favorite donut flavor is probably an apple fritter or a cream horn. I’m really not picky when it comes to donuts.

As far as something I’m grateful for…that’s my daughter. She’s 3 and she’s amazing.

There’s TWO things about me! :)

  61. I LOVE DONUTS!!!!!

  62. Sorry to hear you were sick and praying you stay well! We need you! and miss you when you don’t post! Have very Happy Easter! Thanking God for your amazing talents. You are so inspiring. I don’t bake much but your creations make me want to.

  63. OH MY GOD!!!! that is the cutest necklace EVER!!!

I’m reallly glad that you’re feeling better! I look forward to your posts every Monday when I get the email!

Sadly, I will be celebrating Easter by myself in a hotel room this year. =/ I’ve been temporarily relocated for work for 9 weeks. I’ve only been here for 2 weeks and already sick of living in a hotel. I pass the time by reading awesome food blogs! =)

  64. Favorite type of doughnut? Cream-filled!

  65. Who doesn’t “need” a doughnut necklace???CUTE!! My friend (that I have not seen in about 5 years) and her family are visiting me this Easter!!! I am so very excirted to see her:)

  66. I’m glad to see you are back….it has been a long two weeks without you!
All those donuts look tasty, but I must say just a plain glazed donut is all I need!

  67. I am typing one handed, while cradling my 2 week old baby boy. He’s number three (has a big brother and a big sister), and we love him to bits!

  68. doughnuts have a nostalgic feeling to me because they remind me of saturdays with my family growing up. my dad would always go out early and bring us home a dozen and then it was up to my brother and i to pick out our favorites. later on in college, the cook at our sorority house made fresh chocolate and vanilla frosted (with sprinkles of course!) every friday morning….now those were hard to resist!

  69. ok I admit it…. I’m a sucker for doughnuts… specially when they’re filled with dulce the leche…

great! now I’ll have to go downstairs and get one…

  70. Spending Easter with some family I haven’t seen in a while!

  71. a Tim Horton’s Old fashion glazed .. if they are hot they are unreal!

  72. I absolutely love donuts and can never eat just one or even just two for that matter. This Saturday I am holding a easter egg hunt for all of the kids in our family. It’s something I do every year. Can’t wait to see all of the kids running through the yard trying to find the golden egg.

  73. Oh – A donut sounds so good for right now.

I hope you feel better soon.

  74. I hope you are truly feeling better, and chowing down on an oreo donut. I sure would like to be!

  75. That necklace is adorable!
Sadly I haven’t done any easter baking either. I keep buying all these cute holiday cookie cutters or pans and have grand schemes for baking and never manage to make anything in time… like the gingerbread house I have been wanting to make for several years now….

  76. Well good morning! Great to hear you are better! I am thankful to live in a free country, thankful for the true meaning of Easter and thankful for this website. Of course I am thankful for many other things, family and health as well. But I can’t hog all the space on this blog. Happy Easter and take your vitamins. You are special and clever!

  77. Thanks for sharing! Hope you feel better soon!

  78. Hope you feel better…yummy Donuts!
I thought you were going to say you got food poisoning from the donut! I am glad that is not where the story was going!

  79. I think my favorite doughnut is an apple or cherry fritter – which you don’t see much in the South!! (I’m a MI transplant now in SC). I’d love to give that chocolate wild berry fritter a whirl!! YUM! Definitely time for breakfast now, you made me HUNGRY!! =)

  80. You are far too generous. Your karma bank has to be overflowing! We love you and thank you.

  81. i am starting my own deli shop soon…wish me luck

  82. Such a cute necklace, and YUMMY looking donuts. I might have to order some for myself!

  83. Oh I love the topics and recipes on your site, you never fail to inspire me to be better in baking fantastic baked goods. I would love it if someone had doughnuts recipes for raised and cake doughnuts :)

What do I do really good, I love deeply, my family, friends, my significant other, who says I’m “Overly Loving”. So this is a good thing right ?

My favorite doughnut recipe is one Dunkin Doughnuts had years ago. It was a raised doughnut, with sugar on top, inside they had their white frosting/filling recipe, mixed in with strawberry filling, it was too die for, I have since not been able to eat a doughnut that equals that. LoL no plug for D&D.

The necklace, I would love to wear and go into a famous doughnut eatery and show off my necklace. :)

Hugs to all, have a nice sunny day :)

  84. Phobia: I’m afraid of heights, but not the fall, just the potential to survive. I had no problem sky diving but a ferris wheel gives me the willies!

  85. My biggest baking desire is to conquer paczki (Polish doughnuts) and make them taste like my grandmother used to make.

  86. My daughter and I LOVE to bake together and love coming to your site to get ideas. We just made some cake pops for a candle party we had over the weekend and they were a HUGE HIT! All the girls just had to go online and check out your site. Thanks for all your posts and your give aways are very generous

  87. This Easter I’m going to make your cake pops in the shape of eggs and sugar cookies on sticks too then arrange them in an Easter basket to take to my family’s get together. I have a large family so I’ll have to make 2 batches of each. I can’t wait to see how they turn out. I’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion to try out the pops!

  88. We found an amazing donut shop about 7 miles from our home not too long ago. Oh, oh, oh my. Lemon filled with vanilla icing on top, thick vanilla icing on top. Not just sugar and some liquid to make it spread .. vanilla flavored..not too much..just rite. the doughnuts have a flavor all their own, too! My hubby loves their bear claw, that has a cinnamon, almond flavor that sends his ahhhhs through the roof and it’s bigger than a catcher’s mitt. If you’re ever in the Tampa
Bay area, Fray’s, they have two shops near St Pete/Pinellas Park. Trust me their donuts might look like a national chain, but once you bite into one…watch out…your taste buds won’t know what hit them.
    As for a phobia…let’s not go there…bakerella!!!

  89. Here in Maryland we have the Fractured Prune. Super great fresh cake doughnuts! Not quite as fancy as the Sublime doughnuts, but super tasty! Love oreos and doughnuts in one bite.

  90. I really want one of each of those donuts… they look SO good! And those necklaces are adorable.

For Easter, I am so lucky to be spending it with my family. I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

  91. Ohhhh!!! Thanks for making me sooo hungry for those donuts from Atlanta that I will not ever be getting to have!! I ADORE donuts. My favorite flavor is a toss-up between chocolate glazed Long Johns, or chocolate glazed bavarian cream filled donuts.
Thanks for this chance to win that adorable donut necklace!

  92. I’m so glad to hear that you’re feeling better!

This Saturday, my family and I are dying Easter eggs. My mom doesn’t care that we’re grown up now; “it’s a tradition for goodness sakes! We’ve been doing it since you were a baby!” :D

  93. Chocolate frosted long johns with vanilla custard filling. Ice cold milk. Perfect.

  94. First, glad you’re feeling better. I remember (without even looking at all your links) loving your little chick cake pops, they may be my favorite.
    Mmm, donuts! Love the necklace.
Random thing about me, ?? We’re moving to Utah from Kansas in a few months!

  95. totally love maple frosted.

  96. I wish I could try those donuts, they look yummi! That necklase is so awesome. I love everything sweet and it would look really cool on me! :)

  97. Cake doughnuts- with pink icing and multi-colored sprinkles. You can’t forget the sprinkles!

    Glad you feel better!

  98. My fav doghnut’s are from a little shop in our town, Burleson, TX. Southern Made doughnuts. EVERYTHING there is super yummy!

  99. I have a horrible, horrible fear of cannibalism. I can’t read stories where it’s mentioned, can’t take jokes about it, or anything. Also, horrible fear of clowns, but that’s pretty normal, I think.

  100. I made cake ballswith my mom for the first time last weekend and had SUCH a blast! We still have some stashed in the freezer to hopefully decorate for Easter! :D

  101. even if i don’t win, i’m going to get this for my little sister who loves to bake :)

  102. Oh how I miss donuts from my hometown!! You’re making me hungry :) And that necklace is just adorable!

  103. I will be spending Easter with my family and boyfriend in Key West!
    I hope you’re feeling better!

  104. I love how cute the necklace is. It would make me hungry for doughnuts if I wore it too often, though. One of those subliminal things, I guess.

  105. I hate to be boreing, but I still LOVE chocolate cake donuts with chocolate frosting! There’s no better way to start the day than with chocolate!

  106. Ok – first and foremost – I am a donor. So are my children. We’ve been touched ourselves by gifts such as these.

Second – DAMN those doughnuts! I was very worried about you but your sugar coma now makes sense. Very glad you’re ok. You were “experi-minting” for a very long time. I checked every day, several times a day. I was going to give you a shout out on FB today if you didn’t show.

As for the necklaces – you have no idea how nice that would look around my neck!

Glad you are better. We’ve missed you Bakerella.

  107. Yay! You’re back! I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better. Those donuts looked AMAZING. Almost makes me want to head on down to Atlanta and grab a dozen or two. It’d be a bit of a drive from Alberta, Canada though.

My favourite donut is actually from a grocery store. The Safeway by my house make the most fantastic fritters. Crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside…My stomach loves them but my waistline hates them,

  108. I’ve never met a doughnut I didn’t like, but I have very fond memories of stopping at our small-town bakery when I was growing up and getting a cream horn and a carton of chocolate milk when we were running Saturday errands. Yum!

  109. This Easter, I am grateful for my little boy. . .he’s a joy to know and be his mama.

  110. That was kismet – and good karma all rolled together to let you taste and find that donut.

Wishing you more of the same luck!

  111. Something about me? I just turned … 30! Like 3 days ago …and I’m freaking out!

  112. So glad you are feeling better! That necklace is too cute.

I am grateful that spring is near so I can wear skirts. It has been one heck of a winter and all I want to do it have bare legs out doors.

  113. Thanks for sharing the location for Sublime Doughnuts. Now when my husband has to go to the Atlanta office, I’ll have him make a pit-stop on the way back home! (Hopefully though, he won’t eat them all on his 3 hour drive back to SC! ) I want to try a bite of EVER flavor they have!

  114. Bakerella…you’re back! Sorry to hear that you were in the hospital, but glad to hear you’re feeling better! I never read the organ donation post…what a great story.

As for doughnuts, I always thought I just didn’t like doughnuts. But, I think the problem is that I just don’t like “mainstream” mass-produced doughnuts (i.e., Dunkin Donuts — no offense to anyone!). I just always felt like those types of doughnuts left a film on my tongue…I assumed that the film was preservatives or something to that effect. HOWEVER…may I just say…these doughnuts in your post look DANGEROUS and delicious!!! Love the shapes too. After all, why be limited to just a circle?? Now if I could just stop salivating…

  115. My favorite doughnut is the New York Cheesecake from Krispy Kreme. Yum, yum. I really love doughnuts and only treat myself once in a while.

  116. Well, here’s a little something – I had to give up donuts about 15 years ago. Why???? While I was filling in at an old job (everyone was out at convention) someone was kind enough to bring in donuts. Since I was the only one there, I had two for morning break, three for lunch, and two for afternoon break. So all I ate that day were seven donuts and felt kinda sick. I’m an all or nothing kind of gal, so decided I needed to give them up. But if I ever fall off the wagon….these will be the first I have!!!! =)

  117. i love love love doughnuts…especially chocolate long johns. They make me think of my childhood when my dad would get them on Saturday mornings for all his girls. :) What a tastey treat!

  118. Enjoying a hot-pot lunch with my family and bf for easter sunday :) I also enjoy the honey crueller donut at Tim Hortons!

  119. I am most thankful for family this Easter, even if I don’t get to see them because we live in different countries now.

Every Christmas back home in Canada we would make regular coconut and chocolate coconut donuts for visiting family. They were so delicious and my grandmother would let us kids nab the holes to eat while they were cooking.

    Good times.

  120. There is this place in Portland called Tony’s Donuts, I drive by it everyday to go to work. Thank god they only take cash or I would be there everyday! The best donuts ever!

  121. oh my! Perhaps the only good thing about not living in the States is that I would constantly be eating donuts if I were!!
    Those look amazing!
Also, my favorite donut… oh I can’t pick. It would be between an apple fritter and blueberry sour cream donut. *drool*

  122. Those donuts look like heaven! And the necklaces are darling! I love the shapes of the donuts and the unique flavors. I have been so bored with donut chains lately, and I love me a good donut. Wish they would come up to Boston!

  123. LOL to cute… would love to win it but my luck is never that good. Congrats. to who the winner is.

  124. I lov eyour blog and I LOVE DOUGHNUTS. Yum. Glad that you are feeling better…

  125. THE cutest necklace I have ever seen! And I am so glad you are feeling better-I missed you!

  126. Oh donuts….I love you… My favorite is the Boston Creme…mmm. Hope you’re feeling better!

  127. I love chocolate doughnuts & love this cure necklace.

  128. My favorie doughnut would have to be apple fritter. Mmmmm….apple goodness,

  129. So glad to hear you’re feeling better:) That donut necklace is simply adorable!

A little something random about me. . . . I like to leave the coupons I’m not going to use on the item for other shoppers in the grocery store to use. It’s not much, but I hope it helps someone out.

  130. So my fav dougnut, would have to be the Rainbow one. I just can’t get enough sprinkles.

Also for Easter, we are planning to have Easter at my place for my family and my Husbands family. So I was going to try some chick cake pops for dessert.

  131. Donuts–I love Krispy Kreme’s chocolate glazed. That’s it–the only kind I like.

I can do this crazy thing; blowing air against the inside of my cheek that sounds like a horse.

How’s that for an unusal talent? Not very useful–but weird.

I love the necklace–and I loved the movie too!

  132. I am a doughnut lover as well, although (I am a little bit embarrassed to say) my ‘little kid’ palate has kept chocolate cake with chocolate icing (and maybe a few festive sprinkles) close to my heart ever since I knew what ‘heaven’ was! It is always my first choice when co-workers bring in doughnuts from their favortie bakery.

One fun fact is that before I was married, I lived in an amazing apartment, complete with skylights in the kitchen and tall 12 foot ceilings in the living room, and it was above a bakery! Every Saturday morning, I would drag myself out of bed before most a.m. customers so I could enjoy a doughnut with my coffee and morning news as I watched downtown wake up.

  133. Such cute necklaces!

  134. Adorable necklace!!!

Something about me: I was born on my mom’s birthday. Best present ever, I say! :)

All of those donuts have made me hungry! Yumyum!

  135. So cute! I love doughnuts, too.

  136. I am going to Ireland in less than two weeks, and it’s the culmination of a lifelong DREAM to visit the Emerald Isle!

Also, I hope you continue to recover from whatever had you down!

  137. I’m a closet Artist, I never let anyone know that i can draw/paint/sculpt or cakerate – this why I’m never asked to “oh show me something you’ve done” I can just do it and then say ‘yeah i guess I AM pretty good at it ” :)

  138. All I know is now I want a doughnut! Really REALLY REALLY bad! :) I want a Smores one….. MMMMMMMMMMMM!

  139. My favorite doughnuts are the ones with vanilla icing inside a a chocolate glaze on top. But I’ve never tried any as fancy as these and i have to think that toffee caramel or the Oreo doughnut would but up on my lists of favorites.

  140. Oh yum! The thought of a fresh blueberry fritter makes me want to leave for work early this morning, to make a donut run! Cutest necklace ever!

  141. Whoa! Designer Doughnuts! Only in Atlanta… Dianne the Oklahoman is jealous!

  142. wow, that is too CUTE! now i’m really craving donuts. might have to hunt some down later. the s’mores one looks amazing. glad you’re feeling better. have a great week.

  143. That is the most adorable necklace, ever! The donuts look fabulous. How is it you are not eating them for breakfast lunch and dinner?
I don’t celebrate Easter but I do celebrate Passover. I usually make a delicious flourless chocolate torte! Cut into wedges and every other wedge is sprinkled withe cocoa or powdered sugar. A delish dessert and it makes quite the statement after the meal!

  144. I looooove donuts….but I ABSOLUTELY love cake! My favorite bakery is Magnolia Bakery in NYC. One time, I ran 11 blocks just to get 6 of the babycakes!! Love…pure love.

  145. I’m grateful for my wonderful family and friends :) I love them all very much!

  146. Glad you are feeling better! I live in a small town and we do not have good donuts! I really love a good donut! Help!

  147. Wow. I could definitely use a donut after that post. I definitely have a thing for the old fashioned donuts, but give me anything with chocolate and I am one happy lady!

  148. I am thankful for my new family – my husband and our little bun in the oven. This Easter I will hopefully be traveling to Kansas to see my husband who will be working in Witchita.

  149. my fav donut is just a simple white cake with chocolate icing and toasted coconut. mmmmmm…

  150. I really want to eat the toffee caramel doughnut you posted!! It would probably be worth the 4 hr drive to Atlanta from Nashville!! :)

  151. I like turtles! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y
Seriously I do. Oh and cupcakes, I’m obsessed with cupcakes… and I hope you are feeling better soon! :) Sending good vibes to Ga!!!
    :)

  152. This Easter I will be alone. But that’s okay because its going to be a beautiful day and I’m going to be outside reading! My favorite donut is a maple bar…yum! Last Easter I made my own Hot Cross buns….have to admit I impressed myself and that’s what its all about right Bakerella! :)

  153. Glad to hear you are feeling better. You we’re missed.

  154. Hmmmmmmmm I didn’t know you could have just one favorite donut. Because I have several. Worked in a donut shop, people said “you will get tired of donuts”……Not me . proved them wrong. I LOVED each and everyone of them. Still do, But I can never pass up on an old fashion buttermilk glazed donut. And I would love to win a pink sparkly donut. Pink and sparkly are some of my favorites too! Glad to know your feeling better.

  155. Hi Bakerella! I’ve been worried about you and am so glad you are feeling better. How appropriate that you wrote about doughnuts! I’ve been thinking all week about what kind of doughnut that I am going to bring with me (along with a thermos of hot coffee) to the sunrise Easter service on the beach here in Carlsbad, California. I think it will have to be a chocolate glazed!

  156. I have been reading the blog for a while now, love it and can’t wait for the book. I wish I knew my favorite doughnut flavor, but I am allergic to dairy so don’t venture out much.

  157. I like any bavarian cream doughnut! My boss brings in nothing but glazed. I open the box, and am so annoyed that there are not other flavors LOL!

I just made lemon cake balls. I used lemon cake and lemon frosting. I put them into egg like shapes. Then I dipped them into almond bark. I want to see if I can put a little food coloring in a bowl, and shoot them with a new toothbrush. Speckled eggs sound perfect for Easter right? I’ll present them in a basket.

  158. For Easter my mom, grandmother, and aunt came in town. This willl be my first holiday in 2 years with my mom and 10 for my grandmtoher and aunt. Im so very greatful for my family

  159. My talent… eating a whole bag of those little hostess powdered sugar donettes in one sitting… I ate so many when I was pregnant I was afraid my daughter would come out addicted to the white powdery stuff ;)

  160. My fav. flavor doughnut is apple spice from Dunkin Donuts. Not all locations carry this flavor so when I do find it its a real treat!

  161. My guilty pleasure – I am Cubmaster for my Pack and I think I have more fun at den meetings and pack meetings than my cubs do. I love scouting. I know I will continue in scouting long after my son has finished scouting.

  162. S’mores donuts sound amazing!

  163. So I’ve been dubbed “P the Baker” at work. I’m so happy and grateful for the nickname. I started with the Bakerella inspired cake balls, and have moved on and one. I enjoy it cause I find I’m getting good at it. ok, the truth is, I’m happy other people, besides the BF, are eating my cooking ;)

  164. Random about me- I will avoid wearing shoes at all cost, but love to buy them.

  165. I think the red velvet doughnut looks amazing! I also want to eat the oreo one! :)

  166. OMG…all those donuts look so yummy – including the necklace! I guess my favorite donut is bavarian cream (with or without chocolate glaze on top). That necklace is adorable!

  167. For Easter I am eating my 8 boxes of girl scout cookies that have been waiting politely for Lent to end so I can have sweets again!

  168. Sorry to hear you were not feeling well.

    Oreo donut sounds delicious!

  169. I can stand on my head for 2 minutes not using my hands! :)

  170. Oh my goodness! So yummy! And that necklace is just too much! Something about me? I am the mother of two precious babes adopted internationally. Our son is from Russia and our daughter from Poland. I can not imagine having children any other way. God has blessed us beyond measure! Thank you for such a beautiful giveaway and a chance at it. I pray you are feeling better!

  171. SO glad to hear that you’re feeling better!

Those donuts all look delightful — my favorite is chocolate, oh my, I think I need to get some now…

  172. I just made cheesecake lollipops with salty/sweet toppings! YUM!!! I love donuts, but they upset my stomach. That necklace would satisfy my craving…

  173. I love donuts too and after seeing the Sublime donuts I want to go on a road trip to Atlanta. I’m dieting and doing well so just looking at all the yummy donuts, cupcakes and cake pops helps me live the experience–almost! We are going to my husband’s cousin’s house for Easter. His aunt and cousins have adopted us as one of their own so it’s like being back home for me and my kids enjoy being spoiled by their older cousins. On Friday I’m going to try making the Eye Candy Easter Cupcakes as place setting decorations. I just hope I can find the same ingredients or suitable replacement items here in Ontario, Canada. Easter blessings to you and yours.

  174. It’s almost Easter and I can hardly to get to work on the HAM! I make the ham every year for our family’s Easter Dinner. This year I’m torn between two recipes. But today, it’s baking Easter Bread!

  175. That orange star doughnut looks amazingly yummy!!

  176. WOW Those dounuts look amazing! Especially the s’mores one. I wish there was someplace around Detroit that made dounuts like that!
I’m pregnant with my second baby and I can’t stay away from the sweets!

  177. Love jelly doughnuts with powdered sugar, a mess but worth it! My favorite are from Fat Cat Bakery in Brick, NJ.

  178. So sorry to hear that you were in the hospital. I hope that you’re feeling all kinds of better now.

I’m not a huge donut fan, but I think I could eat one of everything that you posted today. Mmmmm, good.

  179. We have an amazing donut shop next to us in Ohio called George’s. No fancy flavors, just perfectly made traditional donuts. George was a cook in WWII. When he came home from the war and had to support his family, he decided to open up a donut shop. My favorite is the raised coconut!

  180. Sorry to hear that you have been under the weather, but happy to hear you are on the mend.

The “something about me” is that I am currently swearing off sweets for lent. I wanted to crawl through the computer screen and grab one of these delicious looking donuts!

  181. My favourite doughnut is maple dip and to go with it… an iced cappacino!

  182. After reading this post, I’m tempted to make a trip from New York to Atlanta. Those doughnuts look amazing!

I sincerely hope you’re feeling better. I was worried when I noticed you hadn’t posted anything in a while. I hope it’s smooth sailing for you from here on out. Have a wonderful Easter!

  183. Goodness gracious, I haven’t had doughnuts in forever. But I remember that my favorite doughnut when I was younger would have to be either a classic glazed doughnut from Daylight Doughnuts (especially when they are braided!) or the doughnuts with the lemon curd filling. So GOOD!!

  184. My fav. donuts were the plain glazed yeast ones from Roselyn’s in Indiana. They closed yrs ago and broke my heart. But luckily make a cookbook of all their yummy treats!

  185. Easter is sneaking up on us! I honestly thought there were two more weeks till Easter! We’ve been so busy redoing our bathroom that now we need to make a mad rush to get stuff for our girls!! I’d love to win this so I could give it to my oldest girl! Sooo cute! Thanks for the opportunity to win! :)

  186. mmmm doughnuts :) I think the oreo doughnut would be my fav out of all the ones you listed, or the red velvet, or the peanut butter. Acutally just put me down for all of them.

  187. I am seriously considering a trip to Georgia. Who needs Easter eggs when you could have a doughnut?

  188. I would LOVE the orange cream donut. I love anything to do with orange cream. It is my obsession. Hope you are feeling better.

I use to live in Lagrange and now I wish I still did. I would be driving to that donut shop to buy the orange cream one!

  189. LOVE Tim Horton’s timbits …powdered timbits with lemon or raspberry filling!! YUM!! I can only get them when we visit Canada…would love some right now!!

  190. Yay! So glad your feeling better and back to blogging :)
Those doughnuts look delicious, just wish we had stores like that here in England!
This Easter I’ll be writing essays and revising for my degree, but I’ll be dreaming of the day I can own my own little teashop and bake yummy goodies all day…*sigh*

    Danni x

  191. Glad you are feeling better! Super cute necklace! For Easter, I will be going to visit my grandparents, so they can meet my new, adopted puppy.

  192. Sorry to hear that you were sick but I am glad that you are back to your fighting… make that baking form.

I look at the doughnuts and can only say, “YUM!” What is it about doughnuts that make me crazy happy? Thanks for the post.

  193. These doughnuts look amazing!! Living in California, not much chance of getting any of them soon, so I will have to contact them to see if they ship!!!
I love baking and trying new ideas….and your site is my perfect place to find those new ideas! Actually, my daughter, Taylor, turned me onto your site and I thank her and you for it!!
My love is cooking AND sewing… I custom sew BURPIES, clothing and accessories for Babies and Toddlers, boys and girls! Baking fits right in there with my sewing schedule!!
    Glad you are feeling better!
    Happy Easter!

  194. I’m so glad you are feeling better. This Easter I will be making your cute chick cake pops and Easter basket cupcakes. Love your site and was lost without you for a couple weeks. Sending love and good health your way!!

  195. wow…you don’t get donuts like that at the chains. makes me want to make my own! Glad you’re feeling better. I made my first cake pops for christmas, i may have to try some bunnys this weekend.

  196. We are coming to Atlanta on Vacation this Summer and this on my list of places to go !! Glad you are feeling better!!

  197. Oh, I’d like to answer a lot of these questions. Number of shoes: more than I need, considering I tend to wear the same four or five pairs all the time. Favorite donut flavor: Jelly-filled chocolate glaze. Phobia: tornados. I live in DC, so it’s not like I run into them every day, but I’m still terrified of them. Something I’m grateful for: picture messaging. With my one and only niece 1,000 miles away, it’s nice to get instant reminders of how cute she is.

  198. Two back to back Easter Egg hunts this weekend! My 8 year old twin girls are thrilled. That necklace is darling. Hope you continue to feel better, Bakerella. Your site is one of my favorite places to visit.

  199. I am sitting here giggling because my family and I did EXACTLY the same thing. We traveled down I75 to Sublime one Saturday morning. We purchase as many doughnuts as we thought we may without upsetting the other customers waiting behind. We then sampled each one on our way home! My favorite was a tangerine glazed. The man is a genius, and I am so grateful his shop is NOT around the corner! Bakerella, thank you for sharing your creativity with all of us. Big hugs coming your way from us. XOXO

  200. Hey, Bakerella! My fave doughnut would have to be the toffee one. I love anything with toffee. And I am grateful for my daughter… she’s only 5 but she has the baking bug too! We always check out your website together and have tried many of your recipes. Her favorite is the chocolate chip cookie pie. Warm from the oven and with a big scoop of ice cream. We will be having Easter at our house this year (you’re welcome to join us!) and doing it traditionally Greek with the lamb and everything… now we just have to decide on a dessert!
