Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  1. Krispy Kreme chocolate-filled! Yummmm….

  2. I really want this necklace. Sooo cute! Anything about me? I’m swimming in cupcakes dreams those spring days.

  3. I love donuts…It’s hard to pick a favorite. I love the chocolate frosted with the bavarian cream filling, apple fritters, glazed, long johns, cinnamon powdered, and paczki’s.

  4. Those look so great! I love glazed ones!

Also, I hope you feel better soon!

  5. I love all donuts. I seriously don’t discriminate. However, my current favorites are white cake donuts with white icing and rainbow sprinkles from Casey’s General Stores (a gas station chain in the midwest… but their cake donuts are AMAZING). OOO – and I have LOTS of shoes… probably 200 pair :) It’s a problem, I admit.

Love the necklace and super glad to hear you’re feeling better! We all missed you!!

  6. i’ve been to sublime doughnuts! it’s delish! :)

  7. Those donuts look beyond delicious – now I need to find an excuse to head to Atlanta!

  8. Im lacy! Im making lemon cake balls with lemon icing and white chocolate coating for myu daughters easter party! Im making oreo truffles for the adults and cupcakes too! your site is therapy for me and im glad to hear your feeling better

  9. My heart goes out to you, Bakerella. I hope you’re doing/feeling better. I had no idea about your story. God has a special plan for you!

My most guiltiest pleasure? Anything DARK chocolate! OMG, I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I could wear it and be bathed in it. Add a lil’ mint to it, and I’ll be your love slave. Cover some cherries in it and I’ll be putty in your hands. Enrobe strawberries with it and you will never see the end of me. Yes, it’s all I practically think about…..I cannot, will not, should not go a day without it. My wife knows about this love affair and it’s the only one she approves of (LOL!). She, too, has a sweet tooth, but not as big as mine; HOWEVER, I would love to surprise her with this beautiful pendant/necklace.

Thank you again for sharing your story and Savannah’s story. I will remember to support green ribbons all over. This entire time I’ve been scared of being a “organ donor”, but if it helps to save a precious life then it’s TOTALLY worth it. Next time I renew my DL, I’ll be making some adjustments. God bless you!!!!!

    Happy Easter
    Pedro

P.S. My guiltiest Easter pleausure…..? CADBURY EGGS!!!

  10. Donuts, donuts, oh do i love them so. I love donuts, i have 2 fav donuts old fashion jelly( no fruit pieces) with sugar(not powder sugar) on top. Number 2 donut is old fashion glazed. Yummy in my tummy…..

  11. I love the necklace and the doughnuts look amazing! I’m so glad you’re feeling better.

My favorite doughnut is the vanilla cream from Dunkin Donuts!

  12. Glad you’re feeling better. Can’t tell you how many times I popped on your site last week hoping for an update. This week I will be making egg-shaped brownie pops for my daughter’s pre-school Easter party. And if all goes well, I’ll also be making an Easter basket out of chocolate to put the egg pops in. With edible Easter grass. You don’t think I’m in danger of turning my kid into a sugar addict, do you? ;-D

  13. I love the necklace, and my guilty pleasure is dark chocolate cake with Raspberry simple syrup drizzled on top.

  14. mmm… my favorite doughnuts, are simple sugar glazed doughnuts…. except for one time a year when I get to have a punchki covered in powered sugar and filled with boston-cream…. yummmmm!

  15. I am so glad you’re feeling better! I was starting to get worried when you hadn’t updated in so long….
What I’m looking forward to about Easter…..is my 3 year old’s reaction to it all. For the first year, she knows what’s going on….but she thinks “Easter” is a person…..and he’s been coming in his car for a few weeks now. He’s almost here. And he’s bringing her candy.

  16. I’m glad to see you back online and I hope you’re feeling better!

A couple of weeks ago I went on sort of a diet/cleanse for two weeks…no sugar, no flour…basically no happiness!

So what did I do? I read just about every recipe you’ve ever posted. And tortured myself. So much for cleansing. Now that the two weeks are over, I just can’t decide what to bake first!

  17. Hey Bakerella,

I’m glad you are feeling better! These donuts look absolutely delicious. I tried to make some once but to be honest they couldn’t have been more difficult, ok maybe it had something to do with me.

    Baby steps right?

  18. ADORABLE NECKLACE!
    Doughnuts are my weakness :-)

  19. I’m glad you are feeling better. That necklace is adorable! I love donuts, probably more than I should, lol. My favorite are chocolate glazed, jelly, and apple crumb.

  20. This Easter, I’m getting married. On the first of April, actually. :) Excited.

  21. My favorite flavor donut is a plain old-fashioned cake donut (though I love fancier varieties, also!). The faint cardamom flavor instantly reminds of being little, eating them by the fistful after church on cozy Sunday mornings.

Thanks for the chance to win – love those necklaces!

  22. Glad you are on the mend. The s’more donut is calling me. Wish we had a donut shop like that in mid Michigan!

  23. We will be visiting family in Alabama!

  24. I was beginning to feel a little bit sick myself not getting my weekly dose of Bakerella!

I’m a cake donut girl…there’s a place in MD you have to try called the Fractured Prune. All donuts made to order and the are A-mazing. I suppose I now have to make my way over to sublime to see if they stack up (I also read that Atlanta Magazine article and have been thinking I should try a few dozen as well).

  25. We will be spending Easter with family in Phoenix. Should be interesting.
Hope you are feeling back to normal soon!

  26. i won a bake-off this weekend!!!! :)

i’m so glad you’re feeling better!

  27. Oh that necklace is adorable!

  28. Hi Bakerella! I saw Alice in Wonderland a few weeks ago when it came out and really liked it! I thought the word “muchness” was cute and hope to sneek it into a conversation sometime.

  29. I LOVE donuts. I’ve been trying to find a great fried donut recipe for a while now since the nearest donut shop is 75 miles away! :(

Luckily I have found an eclair recipe I plan to try out later this week! Wish me luck!

  30. I am thankful this Easter for hummingbird cake.
    That is all.

  31. That necklace is adorable!!! Now I’m really craving a Blueberry Cake Donut…

  32. I could eat pizza for every meal – seriously!

  33. Wow, those donuts are so beautiful !! I just might have to get myself down to Atlanta to test those out! The Oreo one hmmmm….
Thanks for all your amazing posts, you make my week,
    jen

  34. Doughnuts are my weakness. And with all of the choices out there, glazed are my favorite! My exercise routine unfortunately takes me past our town bakery (I’ve really got to fix that!) and while I keep walking, I can feel my weakness taking over and while I don’t actually eat one I can still feel the thought of it on my butt. :O lol

  35. Well, for Easter, we’ll be hosting our annual Eggstravaganza at our home for all our friends and family. We dye eggs, have multiple egg hunts and then settle in for a yummy dinner.

That necklace is sooo cute – thanks for the giveaway and hope you’re feeling better!

  36. I used to go to the dough nut store and buy my kids dough nut holes before school – kind of a “cool” mom thing to do – now my “kid” is “grown-up” and gone………. :(

  37. My favorite doughnut is usually something mocha or butterscotch or caramel flavored. LOVE those flavors on a doughnut!

  38. I really want those donuts…. I should move to Atlanta!

  39. Hi. My name is Michelle and I am a reality TV junkie. Ok, not like Survivor like shows, but Tool Academy, Sober House, Real Housewives, Millionare Matchmaker. I think you get the idea. Even Rock of Love.
And I love doughnuts. When I was pregnant with my daughter, 1st pregnancy, my breakfast was a Code Red Mountain Dew and at least 2 Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts. Crazy, huh? And she’s not a huge sugar addict like my son.
That necklase is too cute! Thanks for thinking of all of us!

  40. Right now, I have to say I am the most grateful for K-Mart. I know that is probably something weird to be grateful for, but this past weekend I decided that I HAD to buy some new clothes. I absoluetly HATE shopping for clothes, but I actually found a lot of really cute stuff that FIT! It was the most stress free shopping I have ever had and it made my entire weekend!

  41. Love the necklace – how fun!

I too am thankful for people who donate organs and blood – my mom was a recipient of a blood donation during open heart surgery about 28 years ago. Without that well…I’m just thankful!

  42. The necklace is So adorable and I can see why you flipped over the doughnuts! Hopefully the owner will see this blog and send you a get well box! Love your site-you are an inspiration!

  43. You had me worried.I’m so glad you are feeling better.Last week i made tiny cupcakes by baking red velvet dough in silicone ice cube trays. Then i covered the bases with chocolate and the tops with pink creamcheese icing, for a little girl’s 1st birthday. They were a huge success!
Thank you for all the wisdom, inspiration and tricks that you share with us.And the delicious pictures!

  44. There is 132 toffees on the donut. Kidding. my fears is that my fear is that there will be a law forbidden sugar. How will we ever be able to make delicious cake, donuts and pie. The horror

  45. Yummmm…a good doughnut sounds great right now. I love the glazed raised doughnuts; my favorites are at Robaire’s in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. So, glad that you are feeling better! Happy Easter!

  46. My favorite donut is boston cream, my favorite guilty pleasure….does shopping count? I just made your oreo truffles and they were a huge hit!! And I am most thankful for my four children and every day God grants us!

I love your website by the way and am glad you are on the mend.

  47. OMG, I so have to go hunt for Sublime doughnuts now! I must have one of those red velvet ones – my all time favorite cake!
What a cute darn necklace too!!!

  48. I haven’t been in the Swarovski store yet because I am so convinced it could easily become an addiction.

Pairs of shoes? Two pairs of identical sandals, a pair of boots, a pair of heels, and a pair of ballet flats I’ve worn once.

I’m not a shoe girl. Now handbags? I have plenty.

We will be spending a lovely Easter with my grandparents, those energetic octogenarians, my aunt & uncle, cousins, and their younger children. Baby cupcake ball cupcakes abound.

  49. I’m sure we’re all glad to hear you’re feeling better.
My favorite donuts come in the fall. Our amazing kosher bakery makes some incredible pumpkin donuts that just hit the spot.
Though, given that we just made your s’mores cupcakes last night, maybe I should give that s’mores donut a try…

  50. There is supposed to be a shop that makes a bacon donut out in Los Angeles somewhere. That would be a guilty pleasure I’d like to indulge!

  51. this easter i will be sticking my toes into the ocean and walking on the sand with my lovely family…relaxing for a few days at the beach is always good to take away the stresses of everyday life. glad you’re feeling better lady!

  52. I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better!

I love chocolate doughnuts and honey crullers! but my favorite guilty pleasure would definately have to be ice-cream!

You’ve given me such a huge craving for doughnuts now :](awesome pictures)

  53. I LOVE that necklace (silly charms and such are my favorite!)!! My favorite doughnut is key lime pie from Krispy Kreme. Delicious key lime filling with crumbled graham crackers sprinkled on top… yum.

  54. My husband is a fourth year med student, he starts his externships next week. His first is in New York and my four daughters and I will be joining him for one of the for weeks thanks to Spring Break! So we will be spendind Easter with the six of us in a one room resident apartment, can’t get better than that!!

  55. Hmm.. my favorite doughnut flavor. That’s tough. I love a good plain cruller with a cup of black coffee. But, I do really love jelly filled doughnuts with peanut butter frosting, a pb&j sandwich for dessert!

  56. What a delectible little necklace!
I am grateful that my 19 month old daughter is finally getting over the head to toe hives she’s had for 6 days from amoxicillin.
I will be celebrating my mom’s 60th birthday this weekend, as well as the blessing that is Easter.
    Enjoy the weekend yourself!

  57. I forgot to say, I am glad you are feeling better. I was worried about you.

  58. Doughnuts are my weakness and haven’t met one I didn’t like. As a little girl, I got a doughnut after church for being polite, now as an adult, my husband and I get one (or two) on our way to church. Any doughnut decorated with colorful jimmies I have to try :)

  59. I dream of donuts…really! I hope you’re feeling better. There is nothing more important than your health. Rest up so you can get back to creating more sugary goodness!!!

  60. mmm… my fav donut has to be the apple cider cake donuts that are made at our local apple orchard! they almost melt in your mouth!

glad to hear your feeling better! love your blog!

  61. I’m suddenly missing the Choco Caramel Crunch of Hot Loops Donuts, a donut chain in the Philippines. It had a caramel filling and chocolate frosting, and was sprinkled with chocolate cookie bits. Best donut I’ve ever tasted, although it looks like I must do more exploring!

  62. My fav donut is a hot, fresh, right off the assembly line Krispy Kreme. When I was growing up, if ever we saw the “Hot donuts now” sign on, we always, always stopped in, no matter where we were going. .
I bet that mocha filled one would be a close second!

  63. Oh my, those doughnuts look amazing! I love simple chocolate long-john doughnuts. MMMMM….it’s enough to make me hop in the car and drive to get one. Love the necklace -super cute!

  64. ooohhh, I so need that necklace!! Too perfect for words.

  65. How adorable! I grew up with donuts – my uncle and cousins own a donut place, my brother is the fry-boy, my mom is the donut decorator. My first job was there, cleaning and helping customers. There is no way I could pick one single favorite donut, because there is not a donut I don’t like. You’d think I’d be sick of them after 29 years, but you can never get sick of good donuts.

  66. OMG!!!! I thought i was a nut for the cupcakes, but those donuts look amazing! My brother lives in Atlanta…I will be calling him soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the necklace!!

  67. Are you trying to kill me? Thank God they are in Atlanta and I am in Boston, otherwise I would be in serious trouble. I am too afraid to click their link because…what if they deliver? ARGH! Adorable necklace by the way!

  68. Oh do hope u r felling better–just became a new grandma, to lil- Holly Nola……….. loved to make some dounuts to celebrate with….thanks

  69. I wish the Uk had better donuts :( I need a bit of sparkle to make up for it…..pleeeeease?? :)

  70. My favorite doughnut is a buttermilk cake donut with simple glaze; sweet, salty, smooooth.

Hope you feel up to snuff soon!

  71. Oh my gosh, the doughnuts look to die for! Wish I was closer to Atlanta!

  72. Cute necklace! I really like the chocolate glaze cream filled doughnuts from krispy kreme. Nothing exciting… but YUMMY! :)

  73. I love anything sweet! I stay up too late and cook to much! These days I have been trying anything you make!
    Hope you feel better!
Love giveaways, love your blog, basically feel like I know you. weird, huh!
    Pick me!!!

  74. Those doughnuts look soo delicious. The peanut butter cup one looks the best.

  75. Oh my. The doughnuts look divine. I would love that A shaped mocha and the peanut butter filled one. And all the rest as well :) The necklace is so so adorable.

The first doughnut I have ever tried was when I was 15, since they didn’t have any doughnuts in the country where my family and i came from. And I fell in love with them ever since.

  76. Bakerella, I’m so sorry you were sick! Baking is much more fun when your not sick haha! I love allllllll donuts equally, I can’t pick a fave! But I do have a kinda strange phobia…I don’t mind hair when it is attached to your head, but when loose hair starts falling out it really really freaks me out! Like to see random hairs laying on the ground or other places….gross!

  77. favorite doughnut would be Boston Cream….and for Easter Treats I’m making chocolate macroons they look like bird nests..placing little Cadbury mini eggs in the center make them really look like a bird’s nest and they look so pretty on the table.

  78. Those necklaces are so cute.

I’ll be staying at home for Easter (going to my church’s Easter service). But then, the next weekend will be Cherry Blossom Festival fun in Washington, DC. =)

  79. I have a horrible sweet tooth, never met a doughnut I didn’t like. My favorite would have to be boston cream, however I think I would like it even more if it had sprinkles on top. Sprinkles make everything better! I gave up sweets and baked goods for Lent so I’m looking forward to over indulging on Easter ;-) Doughnuts here I come!!!

  80. Those doughnut look so good!!

    Glad you are feeling better!!!

  81. so glad you are back. couldn’t do without you. doughnuts are evil. unless it is a Swarovski hanging on a chain.

  82. I love donuts.
    I can’t make them.
    I love to bake.
    I can’t make cake pops.
    I can’t decorate.
I love any carb there is.

  83. I have a funny donut story to share… When my husband was younger and still living at home, his parents would go to church early Sunday morning but first would go get a dozen donuts, drop them off at home to enjoy later. My husband would wake up while they were gone, go downstairs and have a donut, then go back to bed, unbeknownst to his mother. This happened two weeks in a row. Well, his mom decided after two weeks of only getting 11 donuts instead of 12, she was going to call the bakery and complain. Right in the middle of her conversation with the bakery my husband walks in and says, “Uh, mom I ate the donuts…” She was mortified and never went back to that bakery again!

  84. Oh my gravy that necklace is cute!! I would like to win that! Keeping my fingers crossed!

  85. I’m so glad to know you’re feeling better. I can completely relate to being sick often, and once sick, staying sick for quite awhile! About 6 years ago, I had a REALLY bad case of mono, and unfortunately my immune system has simply not been the same. If there’s a sickness to be had, I get it! In fact, right now I’m fighting a terrible cold and am preg…. and desperately wishing my immune system could muster up some strength! =)

  86. YAY!!! I’m going to Atlanta in July. Can’t wait to try them!

  87. i miss donuts – they are off my diet until i loose the baby weight. but that one – that one i can wear!!

  88. That is such a cute necklace! Something about me…I’m terrified of spiders but <3 snakes.

  89. Oh Bakerella I’m glad you are feeling better.
I’ll always love the tiny powdered doughnuts, but I think if I had tried that peanut butter cup doughnut I’d be a goner.

  90. Glad you’re feeling better! You know, while this may be a cardinal sin, I don’t like doughnuts. I love sweets, I love everything about the concept of doughnuts, but every time I eat one I feel sick. So don’t pick me to win, because obviously I’m a moron.

  91. I’m going with something positive – what I’m thankful for. I am so very thankful for the wonderful family I have – a good husband and 2 beautiful and sometimes perfect kids. Not to just remind myself of that when they are driving me crazy…. :o)

Oh, and FWIW, my fav doughnut is a yummy PB cup donut from a local place here in Bucks County, PA – Yum Yum. If you are ever in this neck of the US I highly recommend you give them a try!

  92. Missed you last week, happy to see your better. Love the necklaces!

For Easter I will be spending it with my in-laws and making Deviled Eggs for the first time….wish me luck.

  93. I’m grateful for my parents, without them, I wouldn’t have been able to reach half of my goals.

  94. the doughnuts look fabulous!

my new favorite dessert? lemon bars!

  95. You have me hungry for doughnuts now!!! If I didn’t have to get to work, I would sit here and count those Butter Toffee bits for you ;) My favorite doughnut are the coconut cake donuts at this little family-owned shop near my apartment – they are moist like a cupcake, but in doughnut shape, and the icing is thick without being too sweet. Perfection! Goes great with coffee :)

  96. So glad you’re feeling better!!

Those doughnuts look wonderful! Several years ago we lived at the beach and our favorite thing to do on the weekends was head over to Krispy Kreme and then go eat our doughnuts by the water. (There were seating areas at every public access, so no sand on our doughnuts!! ) Sometimes we’d even get to see the dolphins!!

  97. I hope you start feeling better very soon! Two of my guilty pleasures are 1. eating yummy foods and 2. looking at/ taking beautiful pictures :) That is why I love your blog so much, you combine two of my favourite things! mmmm donuts….

  98. This place will have to be my next stop next time I head over from Birmingham! I am so glad you are feeling better!

  99. get out! a sparkly donut necklace!?! i actually have a donut that i just microwaved sitting here right next to me from our favorite shop,..”got donut?” it’s from yesterday, but i nuked it to give it some gooey life! i’m glad you’re feeling better. take care of yourself! sus

  100. I’m so glad you’re okay! I was worried when I didn’t see a post go up last week.

Now for something about myself…I need to figure out how to make that smores donut mine! Either a recipe, or maybe a forced layover in Atlanta on my next trip to Florida!

  101. The highlight of my week as a little girl? Every Sunday after church, we’d go to Krispy Kreme and get to pick out two doughnuts of our choice. My favorite was always the cream filled chocolate glazed and still is =)

Congrats on your sweet sixteen and glad you are getting better too!!!

  102. I was hoping you were going to overnight a dozen of the doughnuts to the winner this week, but I’ll definitely take a crystal necklace too!

My fav doughnut would have to be a vanilla long-john or a chocolate cake glazed doughnut. Course we don’t have smores doughnuts in the burbs of Chicago that i know of….that probably would be my new fav.

    Glad you’re feeling better!

  103. I’m grateful for having a wonderful Mom whom I got to watch bake and cook. My Mom died five years ago next month and since her death, I’ve turned in to a “Baking Fool!” I feel like she is right there in the kitchen with me, telling me when I need to add “just a little more vanilla extract” to a recipe or “take the cake out of the oven now!” Easter was the last holiday we spent together…so I’m grateful and thankful for my wonderful Mom!!! And Bakerella, thanks for giving me so many ideas to try!!

  104. These all look delicious! I would love to taste every one. But I have to admit that my favorite doughnut is a plain cake one.

  105. Shoe-a-holic. favorite book series : Redwall by Brian Jacques.
    Halloween..

Anyway, great that your feeling better!

(oop, forgot one little doughnut necklaces)

  106. Hi! I am so glad you are feeling better. I just baked some mini doughnuts the other day. They were quite cute!
I am grateful for the fact that my mother and grandmother loved to bake and have instilled that passion in me.
    That necklace, way too cute!

  107. So sorry to hear you were ill. I hope your doing better!
Ive determined that this site is no good for me! I might as well just add the fat to my hips now!
Its been years since Ive eaten a donut. I remember eating Munchkin donuts from Dunkin Donuts as a kid and the plain ones were always my favorite. I always liked them because they reminded me of fried dough you get from the carnival. Oooh! That would be an exellent donut!! Ok, I need to stop.
    Does this guy mail them???

  108. The boyfriend loves sending me Swarovski things for Yule. We’re doing the long distance thing until I can get myself a visa for the UK. Usually he is spot on with his selections. This year he sent me a star pendant. I love 2 things in this world- cupcakes and stars. This star, unfortunately has a sort of creepy face. I can’t bring myself to wear her. I thought giving her a fun name would bring me closer to her, so I named her Lola. I’ve worn her once. Not sure if I can do it again. I will take a photo of her and post it on your FB Wall so you can see her,.. I want to love her- I really do!
So happy you’re feeling better <3

  109. Bakerella…I’m so glad you’re home and feeling better. And I’m happy to be able to tell you I have the little box checked on my drivers license for organ donation.

  114. Glad you’re feeling better!

    Let’s see… I play the recorder, and I’m not a fourth-grader. That’s plenty unusual. I play in my school’s early music ensemble. :)

As for doughnuts, chocolate cream and glazed chocolate are probably my favorites. Probably. Really, I think I’ll take anything with chocolate or cream, namely that Oreo doughnut! That looks amazing!

  115. So glad you’re feeling better – missed your posts!

Right now, this morning, I’m thankful for my morning cup of coffee in my favorite mug. It’s cold, foggy, raining and nasty here, and my coffee is giving me the happies.

  126. I am deathly afraid of moths! And doughnuts are my kryptonite, I love every flavor!!

  127. OMG! How flippin’ cute is that?!?!

My phobia: dentists. Not such a good thing with a sweet-tooth huh?

  128. This Easter weekend I am planning on spending lots of time outside (apparently we’re going to have temps in the 70’s this weekend!!), bake a ham for Sunday’s dinner and sing in my church’s choir for 2 of the 3 Easter services! I’ll also photograph the church’s Easter Egg hunt between services :-)

  129. You’ve got my mouth watering!
Glad you’re feeling better! I’ve been sick too.

LOVE the donut necklace! Crossing my fingers …hope I win!

  130. I have been making doughnuts lately but I’m nowhere near as adventurous as Sublime’s examples. They look absolutely yummy!

  131. So glad you’re feeling better! All of those doughnuts look so delicious! I think my favorite flavor would have to be Boston Creme. That necklace is adorable, I would love to win it. And to give you some interesting info about me… I do have a lot of shoes, but I haven’t counted how many pairs. But the thing I have even more of is dog collars. What can I say, I have two very fashionable Italian Greyhounds.

  138. Hello. I am so glad you are feeling better. I just baked some mini doughnuts the other day. They were quite cute!
I am grateful for the fact that my mother and grandmother loved to bake and that passion has been instilled in me.
That necklace, way too cute! I love it.

  139. At the risk of sounding corny … Grateful that you are feeling better. Grateful for my husband. Grateful for all my blessings!
Our church, Oak Leaf, held an Egg Drop this past Sat with over 8,000 people attending. We dropped 100,000 eggs out of a helicopter. Very cool!

  140. Donuts= Wonder Childhood memories!!

My family had a donut shop when I was around 3 years old. Most of the family worked there at some time or another. Nowadays everyone seems to have forgotten those days. Except me!! I think thats where my love of sweets and baking started. Hopefully one day I will have a little shop of some sort so I can make those kind of memories for my daughter!

  141. Glad you are feeling better !!! I love ALL doughnuts !!! LOL
I am grateful for my family & wish all of you a Happy Easter !

  142. Anything mocha flavored is for me!!

  143. Oh….your doughnut pictures bring back a lot of memories!

When I was a little girl, my dad used to take my brothers, sister and me to the doughnut shop every weekend and let us pick out whatever doughnuts we wanted. We always had a variety… frosted ones, some with nuts, some with sprinkles… jelly filled and powdered. They never made it to the house because we ate them in the car on the way home. LOL

Thanks for a great post and the memories it brought back.

Glad to see you blogging again and hope you’re feeling better.

  144. WOW ! I can’t decide what I want more….that too cute necklace or the donuts !!

  145. i recently started baking and decorating and LOVE your website. FOr easter i am making your bunny pops and the chick ones too. i think i might even make the bunny cupcakes too. I am soo excited!

  146. One of my favorite doughnut flavors is Boston Creme… YUM!

  147. Glad your better, I love your site and visit often!

Not something about me but my 4 year old son…he doesn’t like donuts! What? A kid that doesn’t like doughnuts..is it possible? He licks off the crosting (the way he says frosting) and leaves the best part!

  148. I am visiting my parents for Easter!
    Glad that you’re feeling better.

  149. I love donuts to a ridiculous extreme. Sprinkles make me silly happy!

  150. Favorite doughnut? Oreo Typhoon drives me crazy every time I take a bite :)

  151. I just found out the other day that my oreo truffles are “legendary”. I’m in a scholarship program at my college and every March we have a weekend that the finalists come and stay with current scholars and visit campus. Last year I made oreo truffles for them, the first night – and apparently they made an impression – people are DEMANDING them this year :) Which is very, very cool. So, thanks, Bakerella.
    <3

  152. Mmm donuts…my favourite are the sprinkled ones of course…and being from Canada, Tim Horton’s makes them especially delicious!
Easter plans? Working all weekend! =)

  153. Trop mignon!! Parfait pour moi!! Les beignes semblent divins!!!

  154. Glad to see you are feeling better! Get well soon!

    These donuts look amazing!

  155. There used to be a bakery in my hometown that sold “fried cinnamon” doughnuts! They were the BEST! Anyone who ever lived in my town remembers them! Unfortunately for my waistline, I continue to try and find one that is close….

  156. Super cute necklace. Glad you’re feeling better! Looking forward to a warm week here in Texas!

  157. Hi Bakerella, I hope you are doing better. Thanks for sharing with us. I am grateful for my health. XO

    So glad you’re feeling better!

  159. Oh dear.. my body is now in a donut FRENZY thanks to your post. Those looked amazingly delish!! Donuts are my absolute favorite sweet treat!!

  160. I’m grateful for the health of my wonderful family and friends! Also, I’m a fan of the plain ‘ole jelly-filled sugar donut. :)

  161. ok, so my granola bar breakfast is definitely not cutting it after seeing all this yummy-ness. SO glad you are feeling better. That necklace may be the cutest thing ever (going to visit Swarovski ASAP). My Easter plans – getting ready for a big interview on Monday (pls keep your fingers crossed for me)

  162. That necklace is beyond cute!!! Love it.. want it… NEEED IT!! :D

    hmm.. about me..

Favourite donuts are jelly and pink iced with sprinkles!!

  163. We have a little local doughnut shop that makes orange juice doughnuts that are out of this world. So moist, you keep waiting for the juice to ooze out of them. Amazing. They also “invented” a doughnut for me when I was pregnant that had lemon and raspberry jelly filling, lemon glaze and cream cheese. It’s fantastic, although, I don’t think anyone but me has ever had one.

  164. Very cool article! It’s so inspiring reading about bakers pushing the envelope! Thanks so much for sharing these stories!

  165. I’m a diabetic so I cannot really indulge in the food you make so I just think of it as porn, food porn.

Also, I gave up pasta for Lent so I’m dying. Almost there. :)

  166. This Easter I am giving macarons a second try! They will be purple and yellow, with pearl dust… or so I hope!

  167. I’ll go in keeping with the doughnut theme… I think my favorite would be the doughnuts from Dunkin Doughnuts that have white frosting with chocolate stripes through it. I’d always get one of those along with a chocolate one when I was a little girl and my mom and I would go there for breakfast after dropping my dad off at the train station… one of my favorite memories from when I was younger. :)

  168. Something about myself–I have a baking addiction. ;) I love to bake. My friends are starting to use my talents and this weekend I was coming up with some cupcakes to make for a bridal shower. I came here for inspiration and ended up making the snickerdoodle cupcakes (snickerdoodles are my FAVORITE cookie). Yum!! I even made an milk/egg-free version for my daughter who is allergic. I love all the ideas on here, I wish I could try them all!

  169. I haven’t had a doughnut in I don’t know how long. My fave is Boston Cream,. but the Orange Dream Star looks deeeeelicious! Good thing I don’t live near Atlanta.

  170. I LOVE Swarovski! I feel for it when I visited the headquarters in Innsbruck, Austria a couple years ago!!! It’s a beautiful place! Hope I win…. and I hope you start feeling better soon!

  171. Ever since I was little I loved the donuts with the coloured sprinkles! I still feel like a kid whenever I order one, but I just have to have one–nothing else compares!!!

  172. My favorite doughnut is boston cream! LOVE IT! Can’t get enough, but then again I have never met a doughnut that I didn’t like :)

  173. Sweet necklace!! love it..:D

And i also love donuts…alll of donuts!!
    hmmmmmm, sweet yummie, donuts……yum, yum…

  174. Love that necklace. The doughnuts look good too, especially the oreo one.

  175. We’ll be traveling down to Atlanta, actually, to visit nieces and nephews, including my brand-new baby godson.

  176. My favorite doughnut? I don’t think you can beat a hot now glazed from Krispy Kreme.
We’ll have 10 at our table this Easter. I’ll be cooking ham, spinach souffle, macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs, yeast rolls. Haven’t decided on dessert. I always have fun decorating the tables with old family silver, linens, china, and crystal with lots of “new” bunny touches. It’s so much fun.

  177. So glad you’re feeling better, and you’re right, I definitely needed a tissue for Savannah’s story….I should have listened to you! Love the necklace! I can wear it to my new job at Cakelove in DC! I am so excited to be working there, and having a blast decorating cakes and cupcakes! If you are ever out here, come check us out!

  178. My son works at a donut shop and when he is on close-up duty Sunday nights he brings home some of our favourites (the rest are thrown out) I usually get a double chocolate or toasted coconut but these Sublime donuts look like something else! I think I want to try the Orange Dream Star and the A-Town Mocha. Right. now.

  179. My hubby and I live far from our favorite dough nut shop, but always make it in when we drive the 700 miles to visit my folks. Now we’ll have to stop in Atlanta for Sublime!! I’m not sure if I should thank you or not for my soon-to-be-expanding waistline!

    Glad you’re feeling better, Bakerella!

  180. Oh I love it! My favorite donut is anything from the little bake shop in my cute little downtown village. It makes the BEST baked goods!!

  181. I love donuts and all things Italian. So now when I stop to get a donut I call it Dunkin Bambaloni- how cute is that?

  182. That is such an adorable necklace!!! I’m glad that you’re feeling better. This Easter we are having our daughter’s first Easter egg hunt!!! We are really excited. :)

  183. All of those donuts make me want to eat a donut Right now………especially that caramel apple fritter!

  184. My favorite are the chocolate cream filled long johns! Yum yum!

  185. Fav donut…glazed plain from Krispy Kreme, right off the conveyor belt. Its a good thing that we don’t have a store here. Closest one-an hour a way.
I have to say that your Red Velvet cake balls can stand up to any dessert. I make as gifts and have always received an immediate call wanting recipe. That has never happened before. Love the necklace!! Would love to hang that donut around my neck….Thanks for the chance to win.

  186. French Crullers…. yum! the real kind!

  187. Yummy… Doughnuts. I love them all :) My daugthers fav is pink frosting with sprinkles… this necklace would be perfect for her :) Glad your feeling better!!! LOVE your blog :)

  188. Wow, I love the necklace!! Easter we will be visiting family and showing off our new puppy Leroy!

  189. Wow, talk about impulse buying… Before I even finished reading your post, I had already clicked the link to see the Alice in Wonderland collection. These remind me of the Tiffany’s cupcake trinkets/necklaces. And there’s a fact about me: I LOVE CUPCAKES! Everything about them from taste to look, obviously. I’m getting a cupcake tattoo in the near future as well.

Love everything you find and make Bakerella!

  190. Doughnuts, what can I say. I grew up eating my grandmothers friedcakes made with mashed potatoes. yummmm. Powdered sugar shaken all over them served with cider. What a meal!!!! Never could duplicate them either.

  191. Love that necklace! And love your blog! Thanks for sharing!

  192. My nickname growing up was actually…..Doughnut. LOL! I was on a high cal diet to try and make me gain weight and that was all I ate. Oh to have those problems now!

  193. I love donuts!

  194. Glad to hear you’re feeling better. I have been checking in several times a day, looking for some inspiration. I just assumed you were on Spring Break. Sorry to hear you were sick instead. MMMM…my favorite donut is Boston Cream. But now that I have seen the Peanut Butter Cup donut…..I won’t be able to stop thinking about that one. I am allowed after all….I’m a cop! Shh, don’t tell anyone that the stereotypes are true!

  195. Well, I’m glad you’re feeling better.

That star-doughnut looks amazing. And.. For Easter I’m making coconut creme cupcakes.

  196. Every year I give up donuts for Lent, I cannot begin to tell you how torturous it was to see all those beautiful donuts! Happy to hear you’re feeling better beautiful lady ;)

  197. Peanut Butter creme filled doughnuts from Wegman’s(NY)! Yum!

  198. A couple things about me…I love to decorate cakes! I have 3 awesome kids – 2 of them are autistic. I live in FL and am trying to justify a trip to Atlanta for doughnuts. :0)

I love your site, Bakerella!! Thanks!!

  199. I’m a “cake doughnut with frosting and sprinkles” type of girl… I could probably eat a whole box if set in front of me. Sadly, my pregnant self gets to sick when I eat anything really sweet, so no doughnuts for me for a while. But, maybe that’s a good thing :D

  200. Any flavor…any time….just appreciate all you have shared with us. You have changed my baking style!
