Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.

One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  3. glad you are feeling better bakerella! doughnuts are just – YUM. I could reallllllly go for a cream filled right now!

  4. Seeing posts like this always make me miss my hometown! Ever since I’ve moved to Kentucky from New Jersey (because the man I married, who is from NY, got a job here right before we married), I have missed so many foods. Almost more than family and friends.

Can’t find good bagels, Chinese food, pizza, deli or bakery. Help.

Luckily we have an amazing donut (doughnut) shop here in town. That craving can be satisfied!

  5. I’m grateful for the house I’m moving into this week…no more apartment life for me!!! =)

  6. I can’t really eat doughnuts because they are too sweet-my hypoglycemia gets in the way! I love to sneak a bite if someone has one though :)

    Glad you are feeling better!

  7. I am so happy that you are feeling better. Renal disease is one of the most difficult diseases a person can have. God bless organ donors and their families. It is wonderful that you were able to receive a kidney. I love your creativity and talent.

My favorite donut is a caramel nut persian. yum, yum, yum!

  8. Glad to hear you are doing better. If I am ever in Atlanta I know where we are going!

  9. Believe it or not, I love “sweet” jewelry! I have a cupcake necklace, a cookie bracelet, a chocolate bar necklace, etc… BUT, I have never seen a donut necklace!!! I LOVE IT…pleeeease, donut fairy of the giveaway: pick me!!! :)

  10. This Easter I will be celebrating with my 1 year old and having dinner with my newly relocated mother-in-law (oh, and, hopefully, be getting ready to drive back to Indianapolis to see my basketball team, West Virginia, play… and win… the National Championship game).

  11. I’m mortally terrified of all stinging insects and run at the mere mention of a horsefly, wasp, bee, anything that can sting. I haven’t been stung yet and i don’t plan to be….EVER.

  12. Ah, the love of the donut. We can never get enough it sems. LOL I love them all but my favorite is a simple cinnamon roll. I decorate cakes and my passion is baking, but I wasn’t supposed to be able to do that. My story is a bit lengthy, but to sum it up, I cut my right hand almost off at age 5. Was told they might save the hand, but I would never use it. Guess i was a very stubborn 5 yr, old since I can use it and can decorate cakes. What’s more, I am right handed! Just goes to show we can persevere!

  13. I live in Athens, GA, and can’t believe I didn’t know about Sublime! I will be trying those donuts soon! My favorite kind is Boston Creme but I love most any donut :)

  14. Every time I think, “I’m really not a doughnut person,” something like this comes along and tries to change my mind. Little, delicious works of art!

  15. I’m a mother of two from saudi arabia…and I’m crazy about baking!!!
I just started a “home bakery” bussiness….and im sooooooooooooooo loving it!!!
    my number one seller….CAKE BALLS!!!…lol
plz check my blog and tell me what you think :)

  16. That necklace is adorable…love it! :) I’m also craving donuts now…I wish I was in GA so I could get some of those yummy looking ones (maybe next time I’m visiting friends there…).

I was going to tell you how many pairs of shoes I own, but I long ago stopped counting. The answer is always going to be more than I need, less than I want!

    Glad you’re feeling better!

  17. Dang, I’ve lived in Atlanta my whole life and have never had a Sublime Doughnut. I must rectify that immediately!

I volunteer at the Furkids cat shelter and it is my favorite thing in the whole world. I want to take every kitty home with me!

  18. Oh man, that Peanut Butter Doughnut looks amazing. I became addicted to Reeces Peanut Butter Cups, but they’re hard to come by in Australia. But that doughnut, I’m drooling here!

  19. I love all the cool shapes they make their doughnuts into! So fabulous. And personally my favorite doughnut is Krispy Kreme’s original glazed…oooh I could eat a whole box of them. :-)

  20. Such a cute little donut – good for dieters! Glad you’re feeling better and out of the hospital. Bad places to be…

  21. OMG! This necklace is the cutest thing I have ever seen! My three daughters AND I would fight over it!!!

  22. I am partial to cherry cake donuts…mmm. My husband went to the grocery with me yesterday and chose 3 donuts for himself while I shopped. He was approached as we were leaving the store, by the manager, who apparently enjoyed watching my husband agonize over making his “important” decision ~ said he looked like a kid in a candy store. Yep, that’s my man!!!

  23. I will be spending Easter at church and after we’ll be having a pageant and some great tasting cake!!

  24. oh bliss…doughnuts…one of my weaknesses…yum!!! The A-Town looks Amazing!

  25. My fav doughnut is chocolate cake donut with a chocolate icing!

  26. I am secretly cursing you for this post because I feel a trip to Dunkin Donuts coming on soon… like when I drop the kids off at preschool. I don’t wanna share with them! Hehe! But I curse you because those donuts aren’t gonna help my ‘beach body’ on vacation in 2 weeks! Love ya Bakerella!

  27. I will be spending Easter with my hubby, and my sweet little girl who is 21 months. Her name is Flannery, and she is so delightful!!

Glad you are feeling better :)

    April

  28. Those donuts look delish! Especially the Red Velvet! I must say, though, my favorite donut right now is a hot, fresh, Krispy Kreme. Yum!
Glad you’re back, Bakerella, I’ve missed readint your posts!

  29. When I think of donuts, I think of both my Grandpas. My mom’s dad would let us help him make donuts. He also taught me how to make bread. Anyway, more than the flavor of the donuts, I remember how I felt while helping my Grandpa.
My other Grandpa was a bit more ornery than my Kansas-born Grandpa. My other Grandparents would buy donuts from the local Polish Bakery everytime we’d drive up to see them. It was a rare treat. My grandpa would always find one of us trusting grandkids to lean over and smell one of the jelly donuts. He’d promptly smoosh it all over our face and get tons of laughs! ha, ha

  30. I am grateful for everything that makes me who I am…. and also for fabulous food bloggers such as yourself!

  31. Love it!! It would look very nice around my neck!! lol Get better Bakerella.

  32. This Easter we are going to Storybookland in Egg Harbor, NJ ,.,… we go every single year.
    Can’t wait & hope it doesn’t rain.
    Thanks,
    Mary

  33. HOLY COW THOSE DOUGHNUTS LOOK AMAZING!!! I’m in Canada, and looking at those just about make me jump in my car and drive to Georgia. Immediately. I’m going to start a list of places to visit and this will be on the list :D

  36. Adorable necklace!! I am so glad you are feeling better and will soon be ready to tempt us with further yummies! This Easter, I am making a Tunnel of Fudge cake, I hope it turns out :)

  37. Hello!

We have Dan’s Variety Bakery about two blocks from my Mom’s house. They make the best doughnuts around. My favorite is the cinnamon swirl with maple icing. My second favorite is the chocolate iced with white filling. You know those people have to get up in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to make those fresh for us!! My goodness!

  38. Sorry to hear about your hospital stay. Glad you are feeling better!
I like powdered creme filled donuts. yum.

  39. My favorite doughnut is a glazed doughnut rught from the assemby line. There is this little bakery in Houston, TX that makes it right in front of you. I like to think their idea was stolen by Crispy Cream. But these doughnuts are heavenly and simply delicious. Yum, not I am hungry for doughnuts.

  40. I have a huge phobia of almost all insects. The only ones I can tolerate are butterflies, moths and tiny ants. I also have a loose tooth phobia. I hated when my daughters baby teeth started coming out! :P

  41. I made Cadbury Creme Egg inspired cupcakes that will be on my site on Thursday. That’s pretty much all I’m doing for Easter. They came out delicious & perfect. My first attempt at a filled cupcake! :)

  42. I would love to quit my job and just bake, bake, bake!

  43. That is the cutest necklace ever!!!! I live in GA and am sure I can find my way to that donut shop–they all look so yummy! I’m having everyone over my house for Easter. We’ll have ham and deviled eggs (guess I should buy some eggs this week!) plus all the rest. This is the only time of year I usually make deviled eggs–don’t know why! I’m hoping to make some home made Easter egg candies this week that I didn’t get to this weekend.

  44. So my sis-n-law lives in Atlanta. I think when we go to visit I am going to have to try this place..maybe. I have had lap-band so doughnuts are usually a HUGE no-no. However, the kids would love it :0)

  45. im glad your feeling better! i would have to say im thankful for just being with my family on easter, and getting to celebrate by doing easter eggs hunts or just a nice dinner with the family.

  46. So glad your back! loved this post by the way. im not a big fan of doughnuts but these look delicious!
hmm.. for easter i would usually go see my nephews but i wont be able to see them till a few days after, so me and my mom will be making a bunch of easter treats! yummy!

  47. I’m from Saudi Arabia and I go through your Blog ALL the time, it’s one of my favorite things to do on the internet. You’re such an inspiration – keep up the good work!

  48. I am eating cereal for breakfast right now, but wish I was eating one of these doughnuts! My favorite kind of doughnut is traditional jelly.

  49. MMM. Doughnuts. I have to say my favorite is plain and simple, the french cruller.

  50. I was hoping you were on spring break and enjoying yourself. So sorry to hear you were sick, I hope you are going to be OK, I really missed you last week.

  51. My favorite donut is the “Long John”…a chocolate covered cream filled taste of heaven. Too bad their not healthy enough to eat every day!!

  52. i love bevarian cream doughnuts.

  53. When I was a little girl, my mom would buy me doughnuts when I was sick. They never failed to make me feel better.
Just looking at these made me smile.

  54. i can’t get enough of doughnuts. and this necklace is so cute!

  55. i really missed you there, and so glad you’re back to yourself.
we make doughnuts but they don’t quite compare – I now know I have a lot to work towards.

  56. Oh My God! Those are the cutest things ever!

  57. I’m from Canada and we love our Tim Hortons! My absolute fave donut flavor is their caramel apple fritter (it has a caramel filling!!) let me just tell you it’s to-die-for.

  58. Mmmmmm….donuts!!

About me: I have a craft blog and love blogging! http://www.craftedition.blogspot.com

  60. Yummmmmmmmmmmmm DONUTS! Who doesn’t love a good donut…. or even a bad one! :)

  61. I just may have to take my next vacation to Atlanta. Those donuts look delicious-I dream about donuts like that. Thanks for the great website.

  62. Mmmm donuts! I love love love a fresh Lamar’s apple fritter. And coming in at a close second would be a delicious glaze donut.

    Yum!

  63. I used to be a very active young girl. I had a lot of fun with my friends, went to the movies from time to time, went shopping… I was just as normal as every other kid :-) Except from the fact that, on top of my education, I danced. I used to dance every single day of every single week of every single month of every single year. I always said that the day I had to stop dancing, I would die a litte inside.
When I was 17 (and danced somewhere between 15 and 25 hours per week) I had to stop dancing. My kneecaps are as small as those of a ten year-old; but now I’m nearly twice the age. You can understand: it hurts like hell!
So on February 9th 2008 I stopped dancing. I remember like it was yesterday and it still hurts as much as well.
Back then it was a short term plan. Now i know I will never dance (or exercise any other sport for that matter) ever again. And it hurts me really badly.
I started gaining weight, I lost a lot of (dance-)friends;… To cut a long story short; my selfconfidence was.. Uhm… On a scale from one to ten… Well, it was minus twenty. I felt really lost because all my hopes and dreams had collapsed.
But then, October 17th came and I met a Dutch boy (which isn’t too crazy, since I’m a Belgian girl) and we fell madly in love! Now we’ve been a couple for almost a year and a half and we’re planning on moving in together. He’s restored a lot of my selfconfidence that has gone missing.
And then, somewhere last Februari, I discovered you site and you cake pops (which I love, by the way!!)
That made me realise: I love to bake; so why not give baking a chance as a new hobby?
And well, since early March I haven’t left the kitchen anymore. I bake all the time and for the first time in two years I do something that makes me feel a little bit normal again :-)
So I have no idea if you actually read all these posts, but if you do: THANK YOU SO MUCH BAKERELLA!!! You made me believe in me again, you made me feel a little more self confident. I can’t wait until your book is released so that I can order it and make you a little more famous than you already are :-)
I would, of course, love the necklace, because it’s awfully sweet; but the main thing to me is that I got to say thank you to you. You’re sort of my hero!

  64. Love this necklace!!

I am a born again Christian who loves the Lord– I am certainly not perfect but He’s still working on me!! I’m so grateful that the Lord is in my life!

    Blessings to you!
    Jennifer

  65. My son would LOVE that peanut butter cup doughnut! Good thing for my waistline that we didn’t stop here on our way through Atlanta last week!

  66. I am a crazy cat lady :-)

  67. Great post! It seems like every city but mine has some amazing doughnut shelter in which addicting doughnuts like these are made. Or…maybe I DO have a doughnut shelter here, and my waistline doesn’t want to know about it! Ha! :)

So, a bit about me: I am very thankful that I’ve never had to have an organ transplant, but I’m sorry that you landed in the hospital. I’m sure that was rough, and you can know I was visiting here every 30 minutes going “Huh. That Book must be taking some of Bakerella’s time, or something!” lol. Glad to hear your better; sorry about the hospital stay!!! Have a great week, and thanks for the giveaway! Beautiful necklace!

  68. As a amateur baker & beader I would love to win the swaroski donut necklace! So glad my local bead shop does not carry this pendant. Glad you are better.

  69. ah what I wouldn’t give for a donut right now!!! but I’m trying to lose weight so I let myself have one ever couple of weeks!!!! :-D for now it’s my low sugar oatmeal and bananas!

and I only have about 20 pairs of shoes now…. I’m grateful for the most wonderful husband in the world, this easter I may go visit my grandfather, that always makes him happy…

and i love love this blog thank you and we’re all glad you’re starting to fell better!!!

  70. Thanks for the post Bakerella. I hope that you get to feeling completely better soon.

My favorite doughnut is an icing filling glazed doughnut. It’s so simple, yet a classic. I’ve already started my easter baking, I’m sending my neice some surprise easter cookies for her easter basket. I just know that she is going to love them.

    Thanks,
    Jess

  71. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my fourth child this summer!!! And I think you just gave me an incredible craving for these donuts! Luckily, I live in the Atlanta area, so I think I may have to look them up! Thanks for the post, and what an adorable necklace!!

  72. It’s quite shameful really, but I can eat an entire bag of those little store bought powdered donut holes in one sitting. Something about the powdered sugar and cakey goodness gets me every time!

  73. I’m a dough nut. I love them. my favorite is cookies and cream or the one that looked amazing in the picture was the smores one :)

  74. Something surprising about myself—I love krispy kreme donuts but only the original.

  75. I love the necklace! I can imagine cream filling! Thanks.

  76. I have worked for the same company for 17 years, and I am considering leaving so I can have a job down the street from my house, rather than commuting an hour to work each day. I’m scared. Your doughnut post was a nice distraction from the ‘over-thinking’ I’ve been doing lately!

Oh and for doughnuts…my favorite is a simple cake doughnut with a light glaze on it. Yum!

  77. Those doughnuts look so tasty! Cute necklace, too. Glad your feeling better!

  78. I’ll be back in Georgia next week (hopefully, to meet my new nephew). We might have to make an excuse to go get some doughnuts. Maybe after running a 5K at GaTech.

  79. My fav donut flavour….am I the ONLY person who doesn’t like donuts? Don’t get me wrong – SUPER cute necklace – I would love to win it – but to eat a donut…nope – not me. But this may be because I am down under and we don’t have good donuts here. Krispy Kreme has only just made it to Brisbane LOL.

  80. My husband always gets a blueberry fritter and I always get a plain one with chocolate icing. Okay, I get two or three. And Marilyn, our two year old, always chooses something with sprinkles. :) My husband has been deployed all year, and we are looking forward to taking our Saturday trips to the doughnut shoppe, and finding ourselves at the park afterward!

  81. I know I can’t decide what my favorite donut is after seeing this! Wow I’d love each one of those flavors. They look decadent!

  82. You know, I was really looking forward to my cream of wheat for breakfast, but these pictures simply have my mouth watering for doughnuts! My favorite flavor would have to be one from the yummiest doughnut shop on the planet (well, it was a local place where I grew up and I grew up in a little town). They had a regular doughnut with white glaze and the round colored sprinkles (are they called non-pariels or something?). And no, don’t bring me the ones with the jimmies…don’t like the long colored sprinkles on my doughnuts!!

But in general, my favorite doughnut is just a plain glazed one. Unless there happens to be a marshmallow-filled one in that box from Krispy Kreme…

  83. This Easter, I’m going to Disneyland Paris with my family. :) I love finding the easter eggs my parents hide :)

  84. I just can’t seem to make those cute little cupcake pops… That’s my weakness… They don’t seem to come out as cute.

  85. I LOVE DONUTS!!! I think I can trace it back to my Mom who lived near a donut shop while pregnant with me. She knew when the donuts were freshly made and would promptly go buy a dozen and eat them. Thanks Mom! My favorites are glazed buttermilk bars and double chocolate cake donuts.

  86. That’s beautiful! Sorry to hear you were sick. I’ll be spending Easter with my family and forcing my husband into slave labor to fix the nursery! Fun for everyone!

  87. Hi! That necklace is so cute! My favorite doughnut is a plain old chocolate glazed (and sometimes maple glazed if I’m feeling adventurous). Glad to hear you are feeling better!

  88. I adore any sort of doughnut…especially pink glittery ones!! I love pink, I love glitter and I love doughnuts! I promise to give the pink glittery doughnut necklace the most wonderful home it could ever wish for!

I have a secret obsession with baking. Love baking anything really. I tried my hand at decorating and don’t have the patience for it…soooooo I have a huge box full of cake decorating supplies in my pantry. May pull them out again soon??

  89. I’m just sooo glad you are back!

  90. I have two beautiful children!

  91. OMG if I lived in Atlanta I’d be sooo broke and sooo fat.. I’d move into that place and eat that Smore’s Doughnut all day… it looks soo good…

  92. Simply adorable. I am always up for a good maple donut or a krispy kreme chocolate glazed!

  93. That is the cutest necklace! Love It!!!!! I hope I win!

Hope you are feeling better. Donuts are the best medicine, that and homemade chocolate chip cookies!

  94. As I wait for my coffee pot to finish brewing you sure are tempting me with these delicious finds!

Hubby and I just finished putting an epoxy finish on our new black walnut table for our kitchen. It is made from wood that has been in our family for quite a long time. OK hubby made it but I was the inspiration, of course!

  95. I love donuts! Strawberry jelly with sprinkles are the best!!!

    get better soon!

  96. Glad you are feeling better!!
I made an Easter variation of the red velvet cake cookies you posted for valentines day a few years back. Instead of a red velvet cake, I used carrot cake and made a cinnamon cream cheese buttercream. They are to die for if I do say so myself!

  97. Glad you are feeling better!
This Easter weekend I’ll be attending a church general conference with my family and having yummy things to eat. I think I need to add donuts to our breakfast menu!

  98. I’m a Krispy Kreme girl! But sadly there are so few left :( My husband and I drive the hour to go get them about twice a year though! Adorable necklace…I love Swarovski products!

  99. My life is taking my daughter back and forth to college for she doesn’t have a car. What a beautiful gift to win, I love donuts.

  100. Now that I wiped up all the drool that was on the keyboard, I’ll tell you that for Easter, I’m hoping to make some sugar cookies that are decorated with fondant and royal icing. I’m hoping they will look like baby chicks.

  101. Well.. My favorite doughnuts come from finnish Arnold’s (http://www.arnolds.fi/) I _love_ this heart shaped pink vanillacreme filled doughnut topped with so super sweet pomada.. For easter I’m trying to copy these, at least somehow, pretty sure they won’t be heart shaped but that’s ok.
And I love this new Alice In Wonderland movie (especially Mia Wasikowska), have seen the already twice.

  102. Hi, I love you blog Bakerella, so colorful and cute *__*
I’m from Portugal, baking it’s a passion along with writing and children. I have a degree in nursery school teaching, but since things are not very well with jobs I work only in part-time. Lately I’ve been wondering if I could make a degree in cooking, and I think I may have found just what I wanted. So, in the future I may be cooking with children, that is my major gool :D

  103. My favourite doughnut is the classic Boston Cream. The crack of that chocolate top, the soft creamy filling, yum!

  104. That is a gorgeous necklace. Something about myself: I love baking and decorating sugar cookies, most of all in the shape of pi (the math symbol/greek letter)!

  105. I LOVE DOUGHNUTS! :D I especially love Krispy Kreme’s cranberry. It’s got this deliciously sweet/tart cranberry filling. YUMMMMM. :D

  106. I know it’s a longshot, but it is just to adorable not to try and win. So, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

  107. First, let me say, THREE CHEERS FOR ORGAN DONATION! My Dad is a living liver donor for his cousin, who had the most amazing last couple of years of her life because of his gift. My Dad-in-Law is a liver 2 year liver recipient, too, and is ornery as ever! I thank God every day for the family who decided to give their loved one’s organs to people they will probably never meet!

Second, favorite doughnut? Well, warm Krispy Kreme rank right up there, but I love a classic raspberry jelly-filled creation…yummmm…

  108. I JUST FOUND YOUR SITE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND I AM HOOKED! WHERE IN GEORGIA IS SUBLIME? MY FAVORITE DOUGHNUT IS JUST THE GOOD OL’ GLAZED DOUGHNUT FROM KRISPY KREME, BUT IT HAS TO BE HOT! “HOT DOUGNUTS NOW” SIGNS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!

  109. That’s it, I’m moving to Atlanta. Wonder if that baker has an older brother, okay, a father or uncle! who is single! And those doughnuts!!! I want a coconut one- that’s my favorite flavor. And those necklaces are sweet! Thanks for the chance to win one. Lastly, you need to stay out of the hospital! We missed you.

  110. What a cute necklace! This Easter I will be busy with my family and especially our three-year old. We are setting the table with sweets and treats for her to come down and have a little magic that morning.

  111. Oops, forgot something I’m doing for Easter…..spending it with my family for the first time in nine years! Yeah, amazing right….well my hubby and I lived in Florida for nine years and just moved home to be near family. Can’t wait to be in the kitchen cooking with my mom while the boys are watching t.v.

  112. Chocolate and peanut butter, after 4 months (and 25 pounds lost!) on WW, I crave those ever day! Happy Easter.

  113. Dear B.
Not seeing a new post last week, I was wondering if everything was ok with you……… so sorry to hear you were in the hospital. You always bring a smile to my face and in today’s world that is the “sweetest” blessing. My 19 yr old daughter and I love looking at your adorable posts……… get better soon and keep up the amazing work…….you are a very, very special person!!!
    Happy baking!!
    Barby

  114. I have a similar survival story, a year ago last week I delivered a baby girl and started bleeding afterwards. To make a long story short, after 5 surgeries and 50+ units of blood I am here and got to celebrate my daughters 1st birthday with her last week!!! Yay for organ & blood donation!!!! That is the sweetest necklace ever.

  115. We’re going away down south (UK) just after Easter and visiting both my sisters and their families. I can’t wait to see them!

  116. I’m so happy to hear you’re feeling better, I was wondering if you were on vacation or something since there was no posts. And those necklaces, are A for Adorable! LOL it’s like all things cake gravitate towards you, I’ve tried looking for cake related jewerly in my small town and I never found it. :)

  117. I am still looking for the perfect cake donut recipe, one like we had up north in the summer. They were crispy on the outside and light and cakey on the inside with chocolate icing. Yum
    Susie

  118. Wow! You just lived my secret fantasy…buying a dozen donuts and eating them all myself! Mmmmm….
Glad you’re feeling better. God bless!

  119. my favorite donut is Boston Cream…………. love it!!!!!!! ;)

  120. Sublime is next on my stop of Doughnut Shops! You have to check out Dutch Monkey Doughnuts in Cumming, GA (They are pure evil genius!)

  121. I am grateful for the great ideas I get from you!! My friend made me some of those mint oreo balls that you made … I love mint and oreos and they were amazing!! Thanks!

  122. When I was in college the local donut shop would start baking around 9pm. They were officially closed, but would leave the doors unlocked for students to come in for a late night study break. Imagine a bunch of students, sitting in the dark, munching on fresh from the fryer, still crispy donuts….ah, the memories.
    Hope you are feeling better!

  123. Okay…so now, on my way to take my daughter to school, I have to stop at my favorite local bakery and pick up some donuts. It isn’t on the way but it will be now!

  124. Hmmm, something interesting about my
self. This time a year ago I was being released from a 4 month hospital stay due to anorexia. In recovery meetings one day I announced I was going to take up baking as a hobby. I was given a firm NO because with eating disorders you shouldn’t work in the food industry. Your blog was what I used for many of my first endeavors and I am an avid flower. Today I am as healthy as I have ever been and I know that a huge part of that has to do with your blog and the countless fun hours i’ve spent in the kitchen recreating your fun treats! ;)

  125. Favorite guilty pleasure: your website. I checked it 2-3 times a day since your St. Patrick’s Day post.

  126. something random….
I forgot to put my pants in the dryer this morning and now I am going to be late for work…..

  127. This is my first time on your website (referred by a friend) and I am already addicted!!! I am a stay at home Mom with a 3 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. I just love baking and I LOVE to make my kids cute-sie treats.
I am definitely an beginner when it comes to baking but your website offers such wonderful ideas! Thank you!!! I am so excited to get your blog each day!
Oh, yeah, and I wouldn’t mind at all winning that super cool necklace! ;0)

  128. How can you choose which doughnut is the best!? I have such a sweet tooth I LOVE them all.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  129. I have always loved “long johns” as we call them in Canada. In the U.S., I think they would be known as Maple Bars. I have never seen so much variety in donuts as the ones you posted today.

  130. I like cheese.

    Random enough??? LOL

And for Easter, we’re spending Easter EVE with my mom and Easter with my dad :-)

    Glad you’re ok!!!

  131. 1st – I hope you are feeling better.
2nd – something about me? I am a teacher who works 2 jobs just to pay the bills, I play roller derby (my name is The Tell-Tale Tart), and I love to craft (knitting, sewing, scrapbooking… and especially BAKING!).

    Get well soon!

  132. So glad you are feeling better… Loved this post!

  133. I love lobster. A lobster-shaped donut would be a great combo.

  134. I’m going to Atlanta in September to be in a wedding. I’m going to make the bride and the other bridesmaids get some donuts.

  135. Wow…those look amazing. My sister would love the Boston Creme one! I also wanted to thank you for your stories about organ donation. (although, had me in tears prior to going to work!) I hope you’re feeling better. Glad to see you back!

  136. I’m glad I live in Atlanta so that I can try those delicious doughnuts!

  137. Hmm, something about myself…I might be travelling to Atlanta (from Toronto) in the fall, and I will most definitely be adding Sublime to my itinerary. In the meantime, perhaps a jewelled donut necklace could tide me over? Love you, Bakerella! Wishing you good health :)

  138. Ah, now you’ve given me the ultimate reason to cross the Atlantic and visit my friend in Atlanta!!! That was the cutest necklace I’ve ever seen! Many thanks for a great blog!

  139. That necklace is so adorable! This easter i’m gonna be relaxing with my family.
    Glad you’re back!

  140. Ironically, I had just grabbed a donut and sat down to do my morning internet surfing when I went to your blog. I had seen in my Blackberry that my weekly Bakerella had arrived, but was totally expecting to see Easter things, as Easter is next week. Anyway, hubby just left for work I was sneaking an Enteman’s double chocolate donut as I was heading to your site. How ironic to find your entire post to be about donuts! To me, the best-looking one was the Oreo donut!

Saw Alice in Wonderland and loved it. Will definitely head to Swarovski to check out the rest of the line! Too cute!

  141. Love all of them. And the necklace. And this blog.
    Have happy Easter.

  142. I am glad you are feeling better!

    Something about me:
I’m deathly afraid of driving :(
good thing i live in nyc and don’t need a car!

  143. i love you site and am gonna try the pops for easter as i think there the bomb, the family are going to a little bungalow outside of the Atherton tablelands, here in tropical fnq in Australia. We are going to discover some of our beautiful country with the kids, go swimming and fishing. Eat alot and hopefully had a drink or two

  144. I’m 31 years old, have been teaching for 9 1/2 years, and am still not sure what I want to do with my life. And my husband is quitting his job in 32 days to pursue a career in music. Amen.

  145. I wish I had known about that place for my vacation last year! I rode in a truck 13 hours to go to Comer, GA. Ugh! If I knew there were donuts like that I wouldn’t have been terrified of the 20 million lane super highway… Sugar makes it all better :}

  146. Something about me… well, it’s all about my little boys for the past 3yrs now so I’ll share: My munchkins were pretending to cut the cheese in the bath last night, I can only smile to know that in a few years this phrase will lead to alot of giggles and have nothing to do with actual cheese :)

  147. Surprise you??? Well this may surprise a lot of people but I have never and I mean never tasted anything I have baked in more than 20 years. I started baking with my nan when I was six and have never tasted anything due to severe food allergies, but I love baking so much it doesn’t phase me anymore :)

I am glad you are feeling better, and hope you continue to improve :)

  148. WHY can’t I live in Atlanta. These donuts are ridiculous!

  149. This is something Homer would get Marge for their anniversary, then he would eat it.

  150. I am thankful for my Dad this Easter – he died July 2008 but the love he shared is always with us & my children … and he loved ALL things sweet! For him I started my own cake company: http://www.web.me.com/lairythecupcakefairy . To him. With love. xx

  151. Glad you’re feeling better! I think the orange dream star or the A town Mocha are calling me to Atlanta

  152. I’m glad you’re feeling better! My favorite doughnut is Boston creme….love love love!
You should also check out Victoria’s Secret….they’ve got some baked goods themed undergarments, including an adorable garter with a cupcake charm on it!

  153. hmmm…my favorite donut flavor. I’d have to say white glazed long john’s with LOTS of sprinkles!!

  154. I hope your feeling better. I have checked you blog a hundred times, thinking something was wrong with my email.

I’m so happy to see DONUTS! I have been wondering just how hard they are to make. I’ve also checked out as many gourmet donut sites as I could find lately. Do you think you will ever try making them? I hope so!

    Have a blessed Easter!

  155. After reading this article, I think I need to go on another food vacation! And wearing this necklace would be the frosting on top!

  156. Just shoot me!
I LOVE doughnuts but luckily for my hips, live in a doughnutless country.
    The Swarowski necklace is beautiful and would go extremely well with my pink Homer-Simpson-eating-doughnuts pajamas (-;
Happy Passover! (the holiday where you’re not allowed to eat any dough but eat plenty of nuts)

  157. Hi Bakerella! I’ve been wondering if you were okay! Personally, I love a fried cake with chocolate frosting and colored sprinkles. If you get them from the country store down the road first thing in the morning, they are still warm and even more delicious!!
What a cute necklace! Thanks for the great giveaway!!

  158. The little donut necklaces are adorable! OK, something about me….I know how to juggle donuts. And I eat them when I’m finished tossing them around. Sometimes I drop them, but since I subscribe to the “5-second rule”, this is no problem. Unless Sparkles, my wee old beagle, is near by.

  159. How cute is that. I want it.
    Glad your feeling beyyr

  160. and yeah i forgot to tell u i added your site in the “Cool sites” section in my website :D u r one of my inspirations

  161. so thankful we an afford to send our son to college!

  162. This is the perfect donut… won’t go straight to my hips!

Hope you are on the mend! Take care of yourself!

  163. My favorite doughnut flavor is apple cinnamon and powdered sugar. I am grateful for my family. That necklace is adorable.

  164. Thought maybe you took a vacation (you work so hard!), but now I read your post and story. I’m sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well and hope each day brings you strength to get you back to us where you belong. Rest and take care of yourself. xo

  165. My first “real” job was in a Donut shop and I was hooked! YUM!

  166. The necklace is adorable…my favorite doughnut is a yeast doughnut hole from our local bakery. It is absolutely coated with thick icing and to die for!! I only allow myself to get them about every three months or I wouldn’t be able to fit thru the door.

  167. Last night i couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know what to do, I just couldn’t sleep! But then I started thinking… I really long for a afternoon teaparty summer style in the garden with my grandmothers teacups, tea (of course!), lemonade, beautiful cakes decorated with eatable flowers, cupcakes, cakepops in different shapes and lots of flowers for decoration.. Ooh, then finally I got a good night sleep, dreaming of afternoon teaparty in the summer….:)
Thank you for all your inspiration and take care!!

  168. All those donuts look AMAZING! I just had a banana one yesterday, with caramel on top! Can you eat donuts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? ;) My friend in san francisco says there is an amazing place out there that puts bacon on theirs! Yum, got to try it! Sorry to hear that you were sick, but glad you are feeling better. My good friend just had a heart transplant a week ago, and I have always been an organ doner.

  169. oh, it’s adorable and beautiful all at once!

  170. yum, yum! favorite donut flavor? i worked at a donut shop for several years while in high-school, and unlike many people that work in food shops, i NEVER had too many donuts. i LOVE every single flavor, and to this day could eat a dozen in a single sitting. good thing i don’t work THERE any more ;)

  171. Loving your site! Making the macaroon pops for passover and the cupcake bunny baskets for easter! Your ideas always inspire me!

  172. Glad you’re on the mend! You’ve already done so much for baking that you deserve a break this holiday :-)
I have to say my weakness for sweet indulges always gets the best of me. There, you know it now.
    Lovely necklaces!

  173. So sorry you have been ill! But so glad you are better! Those dough nuts look fab so I know they also tasted that way!!

  174. This week I am stuffing 324 Easter eggs and 60 goodie bags for my churches Easter Egg hunt on Saturday. I may have to make a trip to Ga. (I live in SC) to find this donut shop though!

  175. OH BAKERELLA! I too was sick and ended up in the hospital! These past two weeks I’ve had some kind of virus and could not breathe and so was there but not thinking of anything else at that time. I have not eaten for a few weeks and this article was so yummy. My favourite donut came from Freddy’s when I was younger and living in Buffalo NY. My dad would get up early, in the dark while we were all tucked in our beds and go get a delicious dozen so when we awoke, we had such a treat!!!! I simply love your little pink necklace that you found and hope I have a chance to win. Would be the second highlight of the last two weeks. the first would be this article of the great looking donuts…
    Deborah

  176. I just made macarons! They were rosewater-flavoured, so, obviously, rather pink. It was my first try and, to my amazement, I got feet/pieds first batch! Now I’m making pistachio ones!

  177. I am so grateful for our Saviour!

  178. I gave up sugar for Lent and CANNOT wait to have some. This little pink bauble would be perfect on my neck…I promise not to eat it!

  179. Something about myself….I’m a foodie and I’m always anxious to read your next blog so I can try new ideas. This Easter we are having a pot luck at our church so we can all eat together!
Good Food, Good Friends ,Good Fellowship, what can be better!

  180. Oh.No.Doughnut. hummm….All that comes to mind his temptation!

    hope you feel better soon!!

  181. Ohhhhhhhhh, just too darn cute. Plus no calories. Hope I win.

My favorite doughnut? I don’t know the name, I just point to them. They are glazed on the outside, have lots of pointing parts but the inside is EMPTY. Much fewer calories I’m sure, hahaha.
Of course one can eat more of them too.

  182. I love plain old glazed donuts – boring yes – delicious yes!!

  183. I love sunshine and crossword puzzles!….aaand I tell people I don’t like doughnuts…..but that’s a half truth. I don’t like the doughnuts at cheesy franchises that sit there all day and crumble when you eat bite into them. However, delicious delicacies such as the ones soon above….is the reason to eat a doughnut in the first place…

  184. I am thankful you are feeling better and back writing about all those wonderful treats that I have no will power to resist. I don’t read many blogs, and yours is my favorite. I really missed you.

My favorite donut is a bavarian cream filled with a chocolate frosting. I have never been able to resist them.

  185. So cute! My favorite donut is oreo!

  186. Something completely random about myself is that I get up at 3:30am to go outside and walk/jog training for a marathon in June 2011 in honor of my nephew Mason who suffers from a rare Auto-Immune disease called Juvenile Dermatomyositis. I then get home aroudn 6am get ready for a 11 hour work day, come home feed my kids, get ready for bed and do it all again tomorrow. Boy it is exhausting but I know will be worth it.

  187. Love, Love, Love all that you do, it’s always a feast for the eyes when I stop by your blog for a peek. My mom is 84 and is a doughnut lover, the necklace would be prefectly sweet for her!
Thank you so much for all you do for all of us with far less talent.
    Kim

  188. My special talent is that I can wiggle my ears. (I use it to impress kids — they think it’s the wildest thing they’ve ever seen!)

  189. We just bought some candies to my dother’s 4 years birthday…

  190. Hmm…this Easter I will be attending church with my hubby and daughter then having friends over for lunch and an Easter Egg hunt. Favorite donut is hands down Krispy Kreme chocolate glazed and guilty pleasure? Young adult books – think Twilight (Team Edward!) and Gossip Girl lol! I’m not ashamed. I should be, but I’m not :)

  191. Hope you are back to you old self real soon!
As stated on my license… I will be an organ donor.
Thanks for your inspiring story and Savannah’s too!

By the way… I loooovvvveeee Boston Cream filled doughnuts!!!! Yummy!~

  192. I’m glad you are feeling better!

~WOW, I so wish I lived close enough to have a try a doughnut or a dozen with you! They look AMAZING!!

    Thanks for a chance.

  193. Oh wow! Now I need to go to GA. My favorite donut is chocolate frosted with chopped peanuts. My dad use to get them for me when I was little. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Happy holiday!

  194. Best donut ever is a fresh made Berliner at nearly any bakery in Germany. Heck even IKEA has amazing Berliners here!

  195. We all have our toubles in life, and I think it is brave of you to share something that personal. At a time when I myself have (completely different) health-issues, I thank you for an inspirational blog, and I am so happy you feel better.

Lots of happy-easter-wishes all the way from Norway.

    Maya

  196. So glad to see you back, hope you recover fast and take care of yourself. I missed your post and was indeed wondering where you were and hoping all was well!

Something about myself: Er, how about i can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue? Actually, i can get my tongue right IN my nostrils too, but i don’t really want to, lol. :P

  197. This Easter, I’m temporarily lactose intolerant. And so will be eating canned pineapple while everyone else eats chocolate.
    I think I’d love the Mocha A-town

  198. A local donut shop makes a maple donut and puts a slice of bacon on top, it’s AMAZING!

  199. I don’t like how the local grocery store has a bakery department, and all they do is warm the donuts up that come in frozen. they aren’t the same!
i’ve never had a peanut butter/chocolate donut. i wish i could have one someday!
