Sublime

Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.

And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.

Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.

You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.

But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.

Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.

Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.

IMG_7649

See.

No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.

Finally, I found you.

IMG_7341

Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.

But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.

IMG_7345

I ordered a dozen for myself.

IMG_7366

Each one different.

IMG_7390

Like this Smores doughnut.

IMG_7410

This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.

IMG_7397

And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.

Untitled-1

I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.

Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.

Untitled-2

As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.

IMG_7429

Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.

IMG_7462

And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.

IMG_7479

And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.

IMG_7369

Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.

Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.

If you’re not convinced, take a look at….

IMG_7561

this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.

I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.

IMG_7583

Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.

Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.

IMG_7596

Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.

Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.

All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. Your favorite doughnut flavor? Something you’re grateful for? What you’ll be doing this Easter? Some usual or unsusual talent you have? How many pair of shoes you own? Phobias? Favorite guilty pleasure. Surprise me.

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, March 30th at 5:00 pm ET. Time’s Up! Winner announced below.

One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.

Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.

Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!

P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.

  1. Everyone tells me lately I should have a bakery of my own! I have been baking for the bake sale our Moose Lodge has every Friday night during Lent and have been able to experiment and make some great things to sell there! My caramel corn and last weeks gourmet caramel apples were huge hits!! I should try doughnuts this week!!

  2. So funny I started to count the nuts on the donut LOL. My favorite donut is fresh glaze donuts. O and I have 38 pairs of shoes. Love Love shoes :)

  3. Something about me? that could take up alot of space.and time. At 6am Easter morning I will be getting off of work. I work as a night time dispatcher for a police department and I will be hoping the night before wasnt completely filled with dealings with drunk college kids who dont know how to behave when at a bar. I will try to sleep a little bit before driving a half hour to my parents to spend Easter with them and 4 to 6 of my favorite little people who call me their Dindi (their word for best aunt ever) and then gorging on ham, mashed potatos and scalloped corn (the best kind of corn ever) and then back home with a big tupperware of leftovers to write about the scalloped corn on Facebook so that my cousin in florida gets really jealous.
Guilty pleasure? I love cottage cheese with crunched up Cape Cod jalapeno and cheddar chips in it, sooo good. Oh and your recipes are a big hit here at the department, we even have fire fighters trying to make cake pops!

  4. Oh my. I am totally drooling over ALL the donuts — the edible and jeweled versions!

Missed you — so glad you’re back and feeling better!

  5. Something about me: When I was a kid, I fell and hit my tooth against a table. The tooth fell off. I took it to my Mom and told her to put it back. She did, and it stuck. Still don’t know how that was even possible

What a darling necklace, should ship easily all the way to Finland :)

  6. I’m glad that you’re feeling better! I read your blog all the time and then wonder why I always need chocolate afterwards…
Which is why my doughnut flavor is chocolate. And why my cake flavor is chocolate. And why my cookie flavor is chocolate. I’m very simple when it comes to baked goods…

  7. Those doughnuts look amazing! And that necklace is darling! I would so rock that!

  8. Oh my, those doughnuts make me want to lick my computer screen. Something about me…….My husband says I’m a freak because I don’t like peanut butter.

  9. I hope that you are feeling better! My favorite donut (until I get a chance to get to Atlanta) is Dunkin donut’s Boston Creme. Those necklaces are TOO CUTE!

  10. Any doughnut, in any shape or form would do for me!

  11. My latest guilty pleasure…baked gnocchi. Yum! I also have a phobia of the dentist.

  12. I dont speak to much english, but i didn’t know anythig about your history until today, i hope you will be better soon. You’re very lucky for the transplant.
Please, be good soon, i love your recipies, i made cake balls and every body turns crazy!! nobody has tasted it before here!!
Well, i’m never lucky but, “for if the flys” (like we said here) my favourite dognut is whit nutella filing and chocolate covering!! Yuuuuuummmmmm!!! delicius!!
    Regards

  13. i’m not a huge donut fan, but i do love churros..does that count? i cant believe swarovski has donut necklaces! so adorable..for easter, i’ll be heading to toronto to do some shopping :D

  14. Those donuts look soooo delicious! Especially the Oreo cream one!! Mouthwatering. Isn’t it awsome that you found an adorable necklace to go with your post? I love reading your blog because everything is so well put together and coordinated for maximum to die for cuteness! :)

  15. Thanks for sharing your story with us, I’m so glad you received the gift of life! I also hope that you feel 100% soon, we all love and miss you.

I have a HUGE sweet tooth but I’m actually not too big on donuts, if I had to pick a fave I’d say that I love chocolate donut holes :0) Now cake on the other hand…. hehehe.

  16. Donuts. How did you know this was my favourite topic ever!? In 2000 I lost ~30 pounds with Weight Watchers. I didn’t care about chocolate bars, I didn’t care about cookies, but I DID absolutely know that a Boston Cream donut was (ONLY!) 5 points and I ate my fair share!

  17. I think i’ll share one of my guilty pleasures w/ you….
When i’m alone in my room with nothing else to do, i usually go on a disney princess marathon and listen to the soundtrack for the rest of the week. LOL, im pretty sure a lot of girls do this :D

  18. That necklace is adorable.
My hands are perfectly operational, but I like to pick up my kids toys with my toes. My husband thinks I am a freak. And that’s a random tidbit about me. :)

  19. Adorable necklace!! ;-;

I love, love, love doughnuts. It’s been a while since I had a fresh one! Being vegan in a non-veg-friendly town, I don’t have the option to just go out and get some (my waistline thanks its lucky stars for that), but I am still on the hunt for the perfect, yeast-y, nommy, vegan doughnut recipe.

Here’s an unusual talent for you: I can spot mistletoe in any tree from a mile away. It’s ingrained in me like a hunting dog since my parents used to sell it around the holidays and needed my sharp eye to find it. Now, at 32, I still can’t *not* find it, LOL. I know, very useful.

  20. I’m not typically a doughnut person…but those look amazing! That said, I am a sucker for Old Fashioned glazed TimBits. Thankfully, we can’t buy them here and so my waistline has not experienced the aftermath.

  21. I’ve just got home after 35hours long journey by bus from France to Poland. In the meantime, we visited Paris (for 9 hours). I’ve been on an Polish-French exchange. It was so amazing. It’s the only thing I can talk about. But, also, few minutes ago I bought a sweet doughnut in chocolate icing, with pudding.

  22. My favorite donuts are Round Rock Lonestar Bakery Donuts! The tire sized ones :)

  23. When I was a kid, we would have fund raisers of Krispy Creme doughnuts. I always sold tons.

  24. Being a diabetic I can’t have too many sweets; but if I lived in Atlanta I would save my sugar allowance just to have one bite of any of these doughnuts! especially the “A”.

So glad to hear you are feeling better. I knew I wasn’t receiving e-mails from you and I hoped you were okay; figured you were busy with your book.

You have an amazing talent and we’re all lucky you share it with us. Happy Easter and Good Health Wishes.

  25. this is way cute !!!

  26. I love apple fritters. My mom used to take us to get them when we were little.

  27. I am such a donut novice. who knew they came in that many flavours?? I can honestly say that I have never tasted a donut in any of those flavours that you mentioned. I think I need to get my self to Georgia again

  28. I checked your website everyday wondering why you didnt post anything new. I hope you are feeling better!
My favorite doughnut is a vanilla custard! Classic and simple but always yummy!

  29. I am so happy you are feeling better. It is so draining not feeling well. The necklace is so cute! I am thankful for my new Grandson! He came into our lives on Thursday March, 25! He is so adorable and handsome. He is my first grandchild and what a blessing!

  30. Favorite Doughnut: Plain glazed krispy kremes microwaved for 10 seconds. No contest.

  31. Of all the places you highlighted on your January bake trip Sublime stuck with me the most. I’m so glad you featured their amazing doughnuts! I love apple cinnamon cake doughnuts and glazed mini doughnuts on a stick my dad brings home when we visit my parents. Mmm doughnuts!
-Rachel from A Cupcake for Moose

  32. All those donuts look fabulous!!!

And I am also glad you are feeling better! All the best for a speedy recovery!

  33. Oh, doughnuts! Sadly, they barely exist here in Sweden. A few places sell them, but they’re never good – certainly nothing like the yumminess of the US ones. I better learn how to make my own, if I want any! :)

  34. not sure if my last comment made it but TIm Burton is like my favourite person evaarrr and its super cool that there’s a jewelry collection from his movie =]
    hi from South Africa mxx

  35. This Easter I will be spending time surrounded by lots of family… which I love.

  36. Glad your back.
Love the donuts. Wow… I never knew donuts like that existed. I want to try them all….
My first pick would be oreo!

  37. I’m the phobia queen! Lightning (started at 22!), allergic reactions, elevators, flying, blood clots…the list goes on and on!

    I love that necklace!

  38. My favorite Easter tradition is one that my family has. With all of the “kids” in the family being grown up and out of the house, we do a midnight Easter egg hunt for my nieces. The Saturday before Easter, everyone comes over at about 7 or 8 at night, and when it gets dark, my parents hide the eggs. Then, once it is completely dark, everyone gets a flashlight and a bag for the eggs they find, and the hunt in the dark begins!

  39. favorite doughnut flavor: the mini ones at the end of the Knysna Cycle Tour that you get hot and are drowned in melted chocolate and astros…mmmm…
Something you’re grateful for: chocolate…and my family (in that order hehe jokes)
What you’ll be doing this Easter: making Bakerella treats for my little sister!
Some usual or unsusual talent you have: i can touch my nose with my tongue
How many pair of shoes you own: 12
Phobias: spinach and the thing under my bed ;)
    Favorite guilty pleasure: CHOCOLATE

hi from South Africa =] i love your site mxx

  40. I think I’m going to go through a doughnut phase again… lol

  41. I loveee the necklace.. adorable! I just lovee jewellery and my guilty pleasure is jewellery shopping :)

  42. my favourite guilty pleasure is watching a chick flick with friends.. all sharing a blanket and eating cupcakes.

  43. So cute, the necklace.
I would die for a coconut flavored donut…

  44. I LOVE your website, and am amazed at all your talent. It’s hard for me to keep from eating the computer screen sometimes!
I hope you feel better soon!
About me? I love swarovski and love doughnuts!! And I love pretty much every single thing you’ve put on this website! Can’t wait for the book!

  45. Oh my goodness, it’s probably a good thing I don’t live anywhere near Atlanta! All those doughnuts look incredible! I think the orange dream would be my favorite.
Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather. Hopefully you’re well on the road to recovery.
    Cute necklaces!
    Many blessings…

  46. Super cute necklace!

I love my donuts with plain sugar and cinnamon :)

  47. This Easter I’ll be hiding chocolate eggs in my garden for my little nephews to find. In France children believe that the “Easter bells” hide chocolate eggs in the garden :)

  48. That necklace is realy cute and as for those DOUGHNUTS – have to thank my weight (lucky stars) that there are no shops like that where I live – apart from the little French bakery. For Easter I hope to go camping beside a lake – totally away from it all – no electricity, no phones – BLISS

  49. Ohh.. I love doughnuts! I have to admit, I’m a simple girl when it comes to doughnuts: GLAZED!! There is just something about the way a fresh glazed doughnut melts in your mouth!

  50. The only doughnuts I have access to are generic stale ones with sprinkles in the supermarket, bleugh.
Thank goodness for Krispy Kreme’s being dotted around at various train stations :D They are worth a £28 train ticket!

I love Easter, mostly because three years this week I will be walking down the aisle towards the loveliest, most wonderful man I have ever met. Who also likes doughnuts :)

  51. I work in tv news. One of the best benefits might be that we often get free doughnuts delivered by Krispy Kreme.

Thanks to your blog post, I will now have to check out Sublime when I’m in Atlanta. Yum!

  52. So glad you’re feeling better. This Easter I’ll be spending with my grandmother. The plan is to make her a cake that resembles a bouquet of daffodils, if I can pull it off. A friend is allowing me to use her idea and I hope I do it justice.

  53. Yum!! Those doughnuts look delicious! Smores have always been one of my favorite treats, so I think I’d have to try that one first. :)

  54. MMMMMmmmm.. I have to say one of my favorite is the apple fritter, lots of memories of grocery shopping with my mom as a child and getting to pick one out to take home.. I also love sour cream donuts from Tim Hortons up in canada.. though that PB one looks pretty darn good..

  55. I really enjoyed reading your post! I hope you are feeling better soon- What a cute necklace! That is awesome that you shop with friends and always pick up extra goodies for your fans! I love the maple frosting doughnuts! Looking forward to making easter eggs with my kiddos and fun treats to take with us to my grandparents house on Easter day! Love the ideas you provide!

  56. Bakerella,
I’m so glad your feeling better, and this Easter season heading into holy week I can say how grateful I am for your website and the amazing things I’ve learned from you. Friends, family and co-workers line up for the cake pops!
    Blessed Easter to everyone-Lisa

  57. I love anything with peanut butter.. especially peanut butter and choc cookies. yum yum..

  58. Dulce de Leche, isn’t it the best?? I know I’m soooo bias when it comes to something form my country, specially if it´s this good.
Hope you get well soon and happy easter!

  59. I love all things made with sugar! Since I can’t have sugar all the time I have sweet jewelry :) I have a chocolate cake earrings, chocolate bar neclace, cupcake earrings and a neclace and a lollipop neclace. A doughnut one would be a perfect ad to it :)

  60. i checked in every day w/ you dear angie & i figured you were off w/your manuscript….i am so happy that you are up & about & working on your computer.
omg: most important is that you take care of yourself…
we miss your posts & your creativity…

i am happy for each day…

  61. My desire to make these cute things surpasses my abilities

  62. This easter will be spent with family.. Old fashioned, but fun!

  63. Something random? Nah, I will just share with you that somehow I got roped into hosting easter this year. What’s strange about this is I live in an apt and so we’re not doing it at my house but my mothers, but she;s not in charge. SO ya, this will be my first time in charge of the precious egg hunt for all 9 of the cousins and neices that are younger than I.

  64. That is beautiful! It’s my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend tomorrow so it would be so cool if I won it. I can pretend it’s a gift from him ;)

    Katie xox

  65. I actually do not like donuts…I know something must be wrong with me. But, I do think that the donuts from Sublime would change my mind. The red velvet one looks really interesting. It makes me want to try and make them. Hope you are feeling better :)

  66. My first job was at a donut shop! It was delicious work. I hopw you feel better soon.

  67. I have 7 beanies and I love wearing them while I bake.
It’s a strange combination but it works for me! My baking is successful if I have one on, or even if one is just next to me haha!

  68. Glad you’re feeling better!

I LOVE doughnuts, I’m happy that I’m not the only one who can order a dozen just for meee!!
My favorite: Caramel apple, so yummy!!

  69. My favourite doughnuts are fresh hot cinnamon ones but I would happily settle for a Swarovski one! Did you see the Swarovski Alice cupcakes too?

  70. Apple Cider Donuts are definitely my favorite!

  71. This Easter I’ll be spending the day with some really great friends and their children. I’ll be missing my husband that will be leaving this Tuesday for back to back year long unaccompanied tours (Milirary)..so yah…he’ll be gone for the next 2 years.
I’m glad I found this site for inspiration. I’m gonna need it to keep me busy for a long while.

  72. Hmm…favorite? Do they make doughnuts with cookie dough? I like anything with cookie dough. A cookie dough doughnut would be amazing….well, maybe!

  73. Cuuuute necklace! This will go well to physically manifest my food addiction.

  74. My favourite donut shop is Mister Donut in Japan, they have seasonal flavours (cherry blossom, green tea) that are super awesome, and free refills on ‘american’ (drip) coffee.

  75. Even though I have a sweet tooth the size of Greenland, sweets are not the reason why I weigh a teensy bit too much. The reason is bread. I love bread, freshly baked with lots of butter. Yummy!

  76. Wow… The doughnuts… I’ve never eaten a REAL doughnut, because I live in Sweden. Here they sell theese boring and dry “doughnuts” whith just a little sugar on the top. No frosting.

Oh, but I can remember one doughnut I ate at Mallorca, it was blue with pink dots. But still, I want to try an american doughnut. With yummy frosting and creamy filling…

  77. Wow that looks so tasty!! I have to say that a am real plain because my favourite doughnut topping is plain choclate, but the best thing about me is that baking is my life even though i burn things now and then!I am 11 years old . We will be away for easter and will be going to the Kruger National Park my whole family lovesgoing there because we are all inlove with nature.
    Thanx for this awsome blog!!!!!

  78. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy im on a diet but im craving doughnuts now T_T

and the necklace is cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute i LOVE it >.<

  79. Those doughnuts look so yummy. I totally wish I was close enough to try them! My favorite cake is probably red velvet, and would REALLY like to try it as a doughnut. May I point out that the necklace has a red dough (although you say it’s pink, it’s red on my screen) which I’m going to imagine is red velvet! :)

I’m glad you are feeling better and hopefully you’ll be back to baking in no time!

  80. Love the Fractured Prune Donut Shop in OC, MD. Will drive 1 1/2 hrs. to get their O.C. Sand flavor – my favorite.

  81. I like any donut that has good white cream in the middle! I guess I am grateful we have no Krispy Kreme or handmade donut shops around here, but our square in McDonough GA is opening a cupcake shop! We’ll definitely pay a visit!

  82. glad to see youre doing better!!!! the necklaces are precious!

  83. “I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.”
    AHAH !
I have a sugar party with myself everyday, so I understand you, this is so good ! Like watching the original Alice in Wonderland movie with a cup of mint tea, a slice of bread, butter and Nutella and a lover

  84. Oh wow, these look SO yummy… We don’t even get Krispy Kremes here…. : (
But I think my favourite doughnut is the cheesecake-filled one from Donut King – the filling is to die for!

  85. I’m not a big fan of doughnuts, but after reading that blog it just makes me want some!

  86. OMG THE NECKLACES!!

  87. I really love doughnuts, but my favourite is one that long time ago I eat in Barcelona (Spain) of “chocolate y azúcar” (chocolate & sugar).

  88. this post makes me want a donut right now! :) i love plain glazed donuts that are fresh out of the oven…sometimes i like chocolate too :)

  89. Love your cake pops! They are just darling! And my favorite donut is the glazed donut from Shipley’s Donuts! They are melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!!

  90. I think I just drooled a little bit. Okay, maybe a lot. I want.

  91. That sure is a lot of doughnuts! :O I envy you for all the choice! I’ve only ever seen real plain ones (plain especially in comparison to those XD)

This Easter I’ll be helping my mom make this Easter speciality we do over here; it’s called Figolli :) http://www.europeancuisines.com/images/bunny_figolla_figolli.jpg

It’s basically made with a soft biscuit dough as base, stuffed with a spicy almond paste and then covered in icing, or in my case with chocolate since I’m not too much of an icing fan. Then I decorate with eggs and lots of other crazy stuff. XD The fun part is that you can choose whatever shape you want so the possibility is endless ^_^

Hope you get much better soon! Sending lots of waves of sunshine! =)

  92. These doughnuts look amazing… I’ve been living in Spain for 7 months and have been having intense (and I mean INTENSE) bagel cravings. So I can now add doughnuts to the list as well. I would even settle for a Dunkin Donuts munchkin right now.

  93. I’m studying abroad in Spain right now and we treat ourselves to “Treat Wednesday” every week to try to experience all of Spain’s excellent dessert cuisine. Last week we tried the “donuts pequenos con azucar en la ventana” (little donuts with sugar in the window) since we didn’t know what they were called. They should have been called Heaven because they were amazing! Tiny doughnuts soaked in a sweet honey-like goo and COVERED with fine sugar. We got a huge plate of them for only .70 c!

  94. Glad you are feeling better for the upcoming Easter holiday!! Well, after seeing the post of the doughnuts I might have to make the 5 hr trip from where I live in NC to Atlanta…Yum!

  95. I was born a twin, and back when I was a kid I used to worry that I wasn’t me but my sister – that our identites somehow had been switched. Sometimes, when she got hurt I’d feel guilty; after all – if she was me and I was her, I was the one who was supposed to get hurt, not her. And other times, it’d give me a creepy kind of satisfaction, seeing her get punished for something she did, when really, it was something I did (even if I had nothing to do with it)… Let’s just say that I was a weird kid and leave it at that, shall we? ;)

Anyway, I’m glad you’re feeling better :) And those necklaces look so, so cute.

  96. I hope you’re feeling better now Bakerella – its awful being unwell.

The doughnuts look amazing. I’m a glazed chocolate cake type myself. Fairly plain and simple but oh so good with coffee.

    Happy Easter!

    xxx

  97. Well, surprise you? Hmmm. You are my favourite blog, and I made your Spring Chicken cake pops today?

  98. glad to hear you’re doing better. That necklace is so darling, so sweet of you to give one away ! We don’t have that many choices in donuts here in the netherlands (can’t wait till we go to the US next year and introduce my kids to all the great donut flavors there are) but I just bought some at IKEA of all places yesterday and it was the best donut I had in a long time. Not greasy at all and fruit jelly inside, i had to fight myself not to eat the remaining ones … I stayed strong though and let the kids take the last 2 to school today.

  99. Mmmm… I wish I was near your side of the globe. It’s hard to find good doughnuts in HK. And the caramel apple fritter sounds good enough to sell your soul for! :-)

  100. Aww how cute :D

We just got some new chickens the other day, we have had 6 before, but a fox ate them! :O

So now, in time for easter, we bought 10 teeny tiny chicks, and they are oh-so cute! I can hold one in one hand, I just love them :D

  101. tonight is “leil haseder”- i wish everyone a happy passover, chag semeach!!
    efrat

  102. So glad you are feeling better and hope you are looking after yourself. Those donuts look amazing, especially the peanut butter cup one…. I’m thinking a flight from London to Atlanta would be well worth it! Loving the necklace, hope I win it!!!

  103. What a great story on the doughnuts…karma, don’t you know.

I “get” the doughnut thing. We have a little local doughnut shop up the street and we don’t consider going ANYwhere else. When Krispy Kreme went in up the street a little further, it was a fun experience but “our” shop has KK beat all to hell.

Just their simple glazed doughnut is so high and fluffy it’s like eating a piece of cloud in heaven. I hadn’t been there in about a year, so after a Sunday morning craving, I happily scraped up my loose quarters, marched in at 7 am, pre-rush hour there, and snagged a chocolate glaze, chocolate cake style and a cream cheese/raspberry filled…all for under $3. OMG they were was so good with my home made coffee and hazelnut creamer…sah-lurp!

    Thanks for the contest.

  104. Bakerella, you are an inspiration is so many ways. One of my fondest memories is when my youngest daughter’s kindergarten class got to make doughnuts and I was the class Mom that day. Helping in class AND a fabulous reward, can it get any better than that? My favorite doughnut? An old-fashioned cake doughnut with cinnamon sugar.

  105. Glad you feeling better, great donuts!

  106. My worst Easter was at the age of 5 when I decided it would be a good idea to stick a bobby pin in an electric socket.

  107. What a gorgeous necklace! And I am now SOOO hungry for doughnuts! I really must not be reading posts like this first thing in the morning… Would love to try one of those orange creme stars, but almost all the flavors sound fabulous!

  108. So cute. The best donut I’ve ever had was at Ron & Chris’s Bakery in Cedar City Utah. It was called an aligator jaw and was triangle shaped and stuffed with pink sugary goodness. Yummmmm.

  109. I like chocolate covered donuts! Call me boring, but I say its just a classic & delish treat. Plus I just love chocolate… Absolutely adore that necklace! SO CUTE! Hmm what I’m doing this Easter… My best friend is getting baptized so I will be watching that! (:

  110. I’m loving that there necklace, and I’m so into pink right now!!

Phobias? hmm.. I hate hate hate cockroaches, especially when they fly, we call them Flipis (“Fl”-ying; “Ipis”- which means cockroach)!! eeekkk!! *don’t land on me! not on my hair!!waaahh*

  111. Looks great. But I think I never ever in my life tasted a donut yet… They are not that commen over here…

  112. They look delicious, I would eat them all in one go :-)
By the way this Easter I am going to Scotland and I have 25 pairs of shoes :D

  113. Ohh what a cute necklace!

So good to hear you’re doing better :)

Favorite doughnut? I’m a sucker for a plain ol’ maple bar, but especially, a raspberry jelly filled powdered doughnut. YUMM!!

Also, as far as shoes go? I used to wear heels every. single. day. Now I work at a doctors office and only wear scrubs, so my heel count has dwindled down to exactly two pairs (the rest were so worn out and falling apart I had to part ways with them) But I can run in heels like nobody’s business :)

  114. I’m a Texan who has been living in Italy for over three years. I dream of donuts (and Tex-Mex) weekly!

  115. This Easter is all about work for me. I´m working as a baker in a museum – baking a norwegian bread/cake called lefse (it´s sweet and soft and yummy). It´s not the worst way to spend the holidays, I can eat all I want. Though I do get a little sick from them at the end of the day. Happy Easter! :)

  116. Thank you for your blog! Sometimes it’s the only bit of sweetness in my life. I’m a fellow baker – not professional, I only bake for friends and family (we have quite a big family though – three kids; the baby can’t eat cake yet, but it won’t be long till she does). I haven’t been baking much lately (well, not at all actually). My son was recently diagnosed with autism, and it’s been very hard on all of us. I’m now researching gluten-free milk-free diets for him, and the thought of him not being able to eat anything baked (and he likes his cake!) is killing me (among other things that are killing me even more, but it’s not the place to discuss them).
You didn’t say what happened to you, why were you in the hospital? Hopefully, you are doing well now! The internet world needs you, so hang in there!
Once again, THANK you for everything!

  117. I’m a plain glazed donut kinda girl. I’m slightly addicted to shoes and buttons. And I’m going to spend the Easter holidays in Italy! (That sounds slightly less amazing if I tell you it’s just 4h by car…)

  118. I love doughnuts, but my favorite is coffee cream filled. About the shoes I own a pair of fit flops that I almost wear every day because they are sooo comfy.

  119. Ooh – how cute are they!

Having recently used 400+ Swarovski crystals to decorate a 3-tier wedding cake how could I not post a comment to this post!

    Happy Easter!

  120. I remember my Mum making doughnuts when I was very little. I remember it being a very involved process, but the results were heavenly.
One of my favourite things at fairs and the like here are mini-doughnuts. Tiny 3 cm bits of heavenly yumminess covered with chocolate sauce and hundreds’n’thousands…mmmm

  121. Maple icing donut it my absolute favorite but I love all the others as well. Maybe I need to try my hand at making donuts.

Oooohhh what about a praline coated donut.

  122. WOW…donuts…and a donut necklace…how sweet is that ….pick me ..pick me…love ya Bakerella ! I pick the boston creme !!!

  123. Can’t go wrong with a simple glazed donut. :D

    I’m glad you’re feeling better!

  124. Well, I have to say that I am thankful for you sharing your transplant story and the one about the little girl Savannah too. I also have to say that these doughnuts are great inspiration for me to try my hand at making doughnuts some day!

  125. I heart you Bakerella!!! ;) Those necklaces are super delicious!!!!

  126. What fun and delicious sounding donuts! My favs are cake donuts with sprinkles. Glad to hear you are feeling better!

  127. What an adorable necklace! I’ve been getting an intense craving for hot cross buns even though I don’t like sultanas – I guess I’m just weird. :)

  128. Those look so GOOD! I want one! But I’ll settle for the necklace, heehee. I love donuts. cream filled, old fashioned krullers, coconut, chocolate… almost ALL donuts. mmm, I miss donuts. there aren’t many donut shops here in Italy. :(

  129. A s’more doughnut sounds delicious. My locale bakery makes a S’more cupcake and it’s to die for.

  130. This Easter we are having my dad celebrate with my sister, my brother and our families — all together for the first time! I may just need to bring some donuts!!

  131. Hi!, glado you’re feeling better….what can I tell you about myself?…mmmhhh…..I will be spending Easter with my two nieces…I love those girls!, they are 5 and 2 yrs old. We should be spending the day at my parents house. I’m very thankfurl to be able to have this time with my husband and my family.
    Thanks!

  132. Hi Bakerella,
I love your site, it’s cute, pink, and filled with adorable baking ideas. (:
I don’t think I’ll win, since you’ve already have thousands of posts but I have free time to let you know a little of myself so why not.

Something random about myself is that I like to make people happy, but I don’t have the need to please every single person I meet (meaning I don’t need to be friends with everyone in the world). But I appreciate my friends and teachers so I try my best to make them happy! I like to gather my friends for dinner by just shooting them an email and asking if they’re free on a certain day and then tell them that we should eat sometime. I like to bake things for my friends, and my friends like to eat what I bake; it’s all good.
I’m grateful for a fortunate life filled with a wonderful family of six people (and many cousins/aunts/uncles), awesome and supporting friends, and just being able to have money to buy things with.
My favorite doughnut is the classic Krispy Kreme!!!!!!! Always! =)
For Easter I’ll probably just eat some chocolate; I don’t really celebrate Easter but I enjoy looking at the chocolate bunnies: )
I have a talent of (apparently) making friends easily, and keeping a conversation flowing.
I own about 10 or 12 pairs of shoes, and I don’t have any phobias. My favorite guilty pleasure is eating snacks because I tend to eat more than I need to. (:

    Have a good day.

  133. First and foremost – feel better, Bakerella!

Secondly, Love your description of the doughnuts, when I will come to the USA next month I will surely convince my BF to go there for a tasting (:
    [We’re from Israel]

And last but not least, I loved the idea of writing down my favorite guilty pleasure… It’s shopping for books. See, I hate shopping in general (a weird cookie, I know), but absolutely LOOOVE buying books. It’s my ultimate fun. I have over 100 books in my room. I have yet to read more than 50 of them. Yet I keep on buying…

  134. Those look amazing.. Unfortunately we have nothing like that here. Just Tim Horton’s (and since their Boston Creams are pretty tasty that’s not too bad). Though we do have two cupcakeries which is exciting.

  135. This Easter I will be hunting lots of colored plastic eggs full of YUMMY candy with my nieces & nephews : )

  136. OMG i’m starving now! haha

My favorite doughnut flavor is raspberry-filled.

I have WAY too many shoes to count.

I paint my room almost daily when the mood catches me just right.

    anddd… i’m deathly afraid of wasps :)

So glad you’re feeling better! I was getting worried! haha

  137. That’s an adorable necklace!

Hm…. I can bend my right pinkie back to touch my wrist…? Nah, that’s not good enough.

I just crocheted my first pair of mittens! Yes! That’s something I’m proud of as of recently :)

  138. I would love to win that cute necklace for my little granddaughter because she is the sweetest dough nut I know! xo

  139. Favourite donut has to be a cruller – but we can’t get them here. So I get my fill when I go home – not often enough.

    Sweet necklace.

  140. I am a nurse and often work with Organ donation patients, the ones who are doing the donating. Thank you for all the people who have helped save a life.

  141. I am so glad you’re feeling better Bakerella!!! I’m studying abroad this year and it’s been super hard for me to be away from my family, but I keep myself distracted by looking online for baking recipes…I know it sounds weird, but it works! I check your site at least twice a day, even though I know it’s not going to change, but I really got worried when I kept clicking it and the mint brownies kept popping up…anyways, I’m so happy you’re back in action! oh, and about the donuts…red velvet donuts? I think I’ve died and gone to heaven.

  142. I live in Germany and the only Dunkin Donuts shops in Germany are in Berlin. I don’t live in Berlin :(
No other donut shops in Germany at all! *gasp*
I hope they will open a few more soon because I’m addicted since I visited NY last year!

  143. i love donuts! i wish i lived closer to GA! All looks sooo delish! And it’s funny that you’ve found the DONUTS pendant! I’d never seen anything like it! it’s Very Cute!! Thanks for sharing!

  144. I just had great spring break full of yummies and more. This just makes want to have another vacation to go food exploring some more. =)

  145. I love chocolate cake doughnuts and I have to say that the doughnuts at Dunkin Doughnuts are still my favorite ones. I haven’t found anything here in NoCal that is close.
Anyone know a great doughnut shop in or around Stanford U?

  146. I totally love this necklace!
I am addicted to cardigans, nope, not to shoes, to cardigans. Every color, every pattern. And I can wiggle with my eyes quite fast (don’t know how to say that).

  147. I love your website, you have fantastic taste!

  148. I always loved the cherry donut flavour. I’m sure I’d love all these new fancy flavours if I had the chance to eat them! A reason to make I suppose ;)

  149. nothing has turned me into a Homer Simpson “aaaahhhhhh doughnuts” drooler like those photos!

I deeply desire a peanut butter cup doughnut!

  150. I absolutely LOOOVE donuts! My love for them started back when I was 16 yrs. old when I started working in my aunt’s donut shop. I was in donut heaven…must be why it was called “Donut Heaven”! My mom was the baker and she did a wonderful job. Unfortunately, I can’t get a really good donut where I live. So I am suffering big time! My waist thanks me, but my tastebuds are angry! They told me so tonight, as I was reading your post. Actually, they’re quite jealous of YOUR tastebuds. They had no idea there were so many donut flavor possibilities. So it would only be fitting for me and my tastebuds to when this necklace. We love us some donuts!

  151. Now I am hungry for donuts. Wish we had a place here in Oklahoma that made those. They look so good. Glad you are feeling better. Love the necklace big Alice and Wonderland fan so I am going to check out the other site.

  152. CUTE necklace!

Something about me? I like sour candies.

  153. This is too much temptation!

Maybe sublime need guinea pigs to test out their goodies??? ;)

  154. I’m glad you feel better.
    I’m a Shoes Addict and I have 50 pairs !

    P.S : To me “A” is for Amazing Angie ! ;-)

  155. I would run through fire for a plain, simple, chocolate glazed donut. From Tim Hortons of course!!

  156. mmm, i love all doughnuts, but my favorite is still a plain ol’ glazed one, hands down. maybe it’s bc those were the only kind my parents would buy me as a kid

  157. Oh. My. Crap. Those donuts look incredibly amazing. They’d better ship to LA, otherwise this pregnant lady is gonna die from insane cravings she can never satisfy!

That donut (doughnut) necklace is too cute. :)

Thanks for the giveaway… and a new obsession!

  158. I’m glad you’re feeling better, an dI’m so sorry you were in the hospital.

Something about me? How about a quick “who’s this osarah girl?” I’m a native Texan who loves to bake, quilt and knit. I’m currently living in Heidelberg, Germany, with my husband who’s active duty in the US Army. Life is never too dull, and we’re enjoying our 3-year honeymoon of alone time over here – traveling, spending time together and raising our “little” (85 lb) labrador, Beni.

  159. My Great Uncle Pogie used to make the best homemade donuts. I have wonderful memories of going to his house when I was a little girl and he always had a batch ready to go. He would serve them hot. Yum! It’s a good thing that I’m just about as far away from Atlanta as I can be because I would be making a pilgrimage to Sublime to try one of those A-shaped mochas! (And Iove the little crystal donut!)

  160. I just sat down to check my e-mail after making your oreo cookie truffles and here this was! Wow! It never really crossed my mind that soneone would or could be so creative with donuts! I mean.. I love them but what Sublime does…*gasp!* Thanks for sharing…in more ways than one. Oh..I am very glad that you are on the road to recovery. Take good care of YOU!

  161. I bought some Chocolate peanut butter M&Ms so that I could make easter basket cupcakes for sunday but alas, they didn;t make it that far…most of them seem to have migrated to my mouth. So, I guess that’s what I was going to do for easter and a guilty pleasure in one.

  162. I would really like to try the Oreo-Donut. I live in Germany, and oreos are soo expensive here :-(

  163. That necklace is TOO cute! I think I like glazed donuts the best… :)

  164. Mmmm donuts. *Homer Simpson drool*

Cute necklace! Please enter me to win!

  165. Yummy! Nutella is the best!

  166. Hello Bakerella,

I love doughnuts, especially TimBits and Krispy Kremes. But I will never bake them myself unless I decide I want to gain a thousand pounds. But I wish I could try those doughnuts. and I love your site.

  167. I absolutely love maple bars or old fashioned donuts. Nothing can beat the classics.

  168. My boyfiend and I are about to buy a house, my only worry is that the kitchen is too small, I love baking and cooking and maybe there is just not room enough for it. It’s a difficult decision since everything else with the house is almost perfect.
Spending Easter with my family, and baking a cake, offcourse :)

  169. I love the pics of all those yummy doughnuts. I wish I lived in Georgia and not in faraway India. The necklace looks yummy too. Would go perfectly well with my Easter outfit. I am grateful to God that I could read this post and try my luck with the pretty neckace. Happy Easter to you.

  170. my favorite doughnut flavor is plain old glazed.. not fancy like those doughnuts but they never fail to deliver delicious indulgence!

  171. That necklace looks like something Homer Simpson would buy for Marge, doesn’t it? I just love The Simpsons (shhhh…no one needs to know I’m too old!), but I love that neaklace even more!!!

  172. I was wondering where you were and glad that you’re back!

My favourite donut is the Boston Cream!

  173. Umm, do bear claws count as doughnuts? They came from the bakery. My first one ever was a prize for the most beautiful science project in Jr high. I painted an oil painting of the norther lights .. or the aurora borealis as they are known scientifically. : ) Beauty and yummy go well together!

  174. I’m glad you are a bit better Bakerella. I’m looking forward to a few days away visiting my family in the UK. A few doughnuts wouldn’t come in wrong either :)

  175. This Easter my son (almost 2) and I will be surprising my parents. We are stationed in Japan and will be coming to celebrate his 2nd b-day. My mom thinks we are arriving end of April and she told my dad we were arriving in early May. What a surprise when they open that door Easter morning when we arrive straight from the airport. We are headed to Florida, but we are connecting in Atlanta. Do they have a Sublime at the airport?

We also have to enjoy Krispy Kreme here in Japan, my favorite is the Chocolate Glazed or any donut with chocolate.

    Glad you are feeling better.

  176. I wish I could have tasted each one of those doughnuts with you!!! I’ve never seen so many amazing flavors and styles. And LOVE the Swarovski doughnut.

  177. I am sorry to hear you were not well. I hope you recover soon!
First of all, I am so grateful for wonderful bloggers such as yourself who teach us and inspire us so much and who are so very generous! Your kindness truly warms my heart.
As for a little something about myself: I have been trying to get pregnant for over 15 years, to no avail, but I refuse to give up on the idea of one day giving birth to my own child.

Thank you again for your kind heart.

And good luck reading the over 2000 comments! :)

  178. That necklace is so lovely! And ohmigosh those donuts ……. *drools*
I finally had to comment on one of your entries because I absolutely adore your site and recommend it to all my baking inclined friends. Tomorrow I am going to attempt cake pops! Thank you so much for your beautiful site, and I am very glad to hear you are on the mend.

Something about me…… I am not looking forward to the copious amounts of Frappucino I will be making this summer, nothing says cool like a sticky, syrup covered barista!

  179. Oh, no.. it’s past midnight and you got me craving some donuts!

  180. I live in Singapore, and I love reading your blog!
    Fantastic post about the doughnuts!
My favorite doughnut flavor is Strawberry! :D

  181. Sweet necklace, and it’s not fattening! Love your website.

  182. Oh my those doughnuts look sooo tasty!!
I have actually been craving good doughnuts but there’s only dunkin donuts around.. That Swarovski necklace is so darling!!

  183. Oh Bakerella! I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better, and have a bit of a tear in my eye – had NO idea about your own story. Can not believe the donuts in ATL! Love love love your site and will one day soon attempt the cake pops. Maybe for my son’s bday coming up this week. Have you ever made helicopter cake pops? We are taking a helicopter ride for his present! Matching pops would be the “icing on the cake”!!

  184. Hi I’m from South Africa, This easter we’re having a week long church conference. My aunt and me made lots of chocolate bunnies and chocolates for this easter. Its so yummy.
Thanks for all the recipes and ideas, cant wait for the cakepops book!

  185. Favourite donut? Definitely Boston Cream.

Not to forget my all-time-favourite-since-I-was-little-donut-shop…House of Donuts. They had the best tiny little donuts that were top coated with chocolate. Delicious. Nothing beats them, especially after coming back from the dentists.

    Hope you’re feeling better!

  186. i actually just moved to asia 6 months ago, and within those 6 months i consumed more interesting donuts (including green tea white chocolate) than the previous 22 years of my life .. go figure.

  187. Hi, I’m Nia and I’m a cake addict :)

  188. Donuts. Yum. I am a doughnut “purist”. I like the plain glazed ones. Simple and Delish. I am also a pizza purist. Just cheese please. I think it is because I don’t like other flavors interrupting my time with the doughnut and pizza!

  189. Those look delicious and i’m half tempted to order some! My favorite doughnuts are butter cream and boston cream. NOM NOM! :D

  190. I’m glad to hear you’re okay; I was wondering why you hadnt posted in so long. My favorite donut is plain-old sugar covered. But those pictures are making me reconsider (especially the oreo cookie one)…I may have to convince my husband that we need a trip to Atlanta!

  191. The only kind of doughnuts that I’ve tried are Krispy Kreme doughnuts and ones available at a gas station.

  192. Oh my…those doughnuts look amazing! I would try them all too! I wish I could find some like that around here!

  193. I know I dont’ have a chance, but I have to share, my favorite of all time donuts is a glazed blueberry cake donut. Fav!! They remind me of my daddy and such good times so long ago!!

  194. Hmm… Something about myself… I love Alice’s Adventures in Womderland and I love that necklace!

  195. I love puppies, and am adopting one tomorrow. :) im gonna name it Milo.

  196. I am grateful that they don’t sell donuts like that here in NZ or I would totally be a 500lb shut-in – peanut buttercup donut?! Ummmm, wiping up the drool now! And that necklace is so dang cute!

  197. wow those doughnuts look soo amazing. I think I want to go and Atlanta just to eat those delicious looking things. hehe. Maybe I should try making my own!

  198. That is such a cute necklace! Pink is my favorite color!
Every Easter my family and I go to Grouse Creek, Utah! We have a potluck and play games our parents used to play when they were young. Run Sheepie Run and Kick the Can! Makes me want Easter to come quicker!

  199. Glad you’re feeling better! : )

    Favorite donut: chocolate dipped donuts.

    Favorite guilty pleasure: 80’s music.

  200. Glad you’re feeling better.
Best doughnut flavor is jelly filled :) although I definitely have to make it to the west coast Voodoo doughnut to try the bacon maple doughnut! Now Sublime is on my list of places to visit!
