Today’s post was supposed to be something cute in time for Easter. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any baking this weekend or last. I’ve been sick and was in the hospital for a few days. Today is the first I’ve felt up to even getting on the computer. Thank you everyone that emailed wondering if I was ok. You don’t know how much that made me feel better. And I am better now. It just takes me a little longer to get over things.
Here’s why if you’re interested.
And, if you’re still looking for something bunny-related, then try this, this, this, this or this from previous years.
Now, luckily I still have last week’s post that never made its way live. It’s about doughnuts. Delicious decadent doughnuts.
You see, last year I was shooting some photos at a friend’s studio for the Cake Pops book coming out later this year. We started early in the morning and I hadn’t eaten yet. My friend offered me a doughnut. I was like yes. Perfect. When I opened the plain white box, there was only one doughnut left, curiously shaped like the letter A. An A doughnut? That’s kinda weird. Then he told me they were from the other day. Hmmmm. Do I want a who-knows-how-old doughnut? Yes. Yes. I did. I was hungry. So I threw it in the microwave for a few seconds to try and revive it. And, oh my. Oh my! OH MY! It was the best doughnut I’ve ever put in my mouth. The plain glazed A-shaped doughnut was filled with the most delicious mocha filling. I about died. Before I could even finish I was asking my friend where they came from.
But, he didn’t know. GASP. Someone had brought them to the studio for another shoot. And no one there knew the name or where they came from. Noooooo.
Just my luck, but probably a good thing for my waist.
Then weeks later, I was flipping through some magazines and found this little feature.
See.
No… not the cute owner. See the A doughnut on the left? It had to be the same place. Thank you for A-shaped doughnuts.
Finally, I found you.
Sublime Doughnuts in Georgia. We were reunited briefly in January. The doughnuts made an appearance on the Sugar Coma tour I attended where I was able to taste a few.
But I wanted more. I wanted to try all their flavors. So, weeks later. Like a couple of weeks ago. I finally made my way to Sublime.
I ordered a dozen for myself.
Each one different.
Like this Smores doughnut.
This Butter Toffee with Caramel Chocolate Icing.
And this Chocolate Wild Berry Fritter.
I had a doughnut party with myself and tasted them all.
Including this Caramel Apple Fritter, Red Velvet Cake and Dulce de Leche.
As well as this A-town Cream and Peanut Butter Cup doughnut.
Sublime has fab flavors and fun shapes like this Orange Dream Star. Delish.
And this Oreo doughnut with cream filling. Help.
And then there’s my old friend the A-Town Mocha. That’s A for Atlanta if you’re wondering. But I say A for Amazing.
Now, I just need to visit again to try the other dozen flavors that didn’t make it in my mouth.
Can you see, I’m all about doughnuts right now.
If you’re not convinced, take a look at….
this cute crystal-sprinkled pink doughnut necklace I found. Adorable, huh. It’s from the Alice in Wonderland collection at Swarovski.
I’ve never shopped at Swarovski until the other day. Cupcake Julie and I were at the mall and we peeked in.
Five minutes later I walked out with this cream colored doughnut necklace wondering what had just happened.
Impulse buying can be dangerous, but I love it and I’m glad I snagged it. So glad, I went online a few days later and ordered another one (This limited edition pink one) to give away. It’s just too dang cute not to share.
Want it? Come on. We can be dough nuts together.
Just leave a comment to this post on the site for a chance to win it.
All you have to do to be entered is to count the number of nuts on the Butter Toffee doughnut above. Just kidding. Let’s make this easy. Just tell me something about yourself. One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening on this post.
Good luck.
Wow. You guys never cease to amaze me. Reading your comments makes me laugh and sometimes makes me cry. But they always brighten my day. Thank you.
Now it’s time to reveal the winner chosen at random.
Yay Mel! Isn’t it fun being right. Now your hubby can be reminded of it everytime he looks at this cute little doughnut necklace around your neck. Congrats!
P.S. Julia – you must share a photo of your full sleeve arm tatoo dedicated to Mary Poppins. Fascinating.
Oreo doughuts and a doughnut necklace… i just drooled on my keyboard.
Fantastic. I’m going to have to check this place out for sure!
Oh wow, I really want a doughnut now. The maple bacon doughnut has to be my total favorite.
Totally adorable necklace :)
I love to watch krispy kreme doughtnuts being made through that clear glass window. My favorite part was when the doughnuts passed through the glaze “waterfall” :D
Wow, who knew there could be so many flavors of donuts! And they all look and sound so tempting, too! I’m pretty sure that Oreo one is calling my name… Of course, that necklace is absolutely adorable too, just not as tasty.
Super cute necklace! I love baking. My recent favorite is straweberry-banana bread (thanks to allrecipes.com). It’s a great way to use up mushy bananas and strawberries! Mmm.
my favorite flavor of doughnut is the apple and cinnamon from Dunkin Donuts! When my boss buys donuts for everyone, she saves me that one! :)
Edie – edie22@hotmail.com
That is the cutest necklace ever!
So sorry to hear you were sick! I hope you’re feeling better!
Those donuts made my mouth water. Umm, YUM! There are a couple local donut shops around here that are to die for… I might have to visit one soon, now!
Favorite donut… I like unfilled long johns with either chocolate or maple icing, and raspberry bismarks with powdered sugar on them instead of icing.
Yeah… More drooling.
And I’m so glad you’re feeling better.
I love maple bars
Goodness now im hungry. O and the necklace is adorable.
I haven’t gone to sleep before 5:30am in over a week.. I feel like a vampire!
I ALMOST bought that the other day but I didn’t have enough money! =[ something about me is that I plan to have cute donuts and cupcakes as a favor for my wedding on June 12th!!! I hope you feel better <3
I’m grateful that it’s springtime and life goes on!
I am absolutely afriad of heights. i can barely go up two flights of stairs.
And i am obssessed with shoes and bags, i jsut love really high heels, though my mum always scolds me for it. :) and i love bakerella!!!!1
I love maple bars! The best one that I have ever had was the maple bar with BACON at Voodoo Doughnut in Portland, OR. Mmmmm!
I’m excited that my tomboy daughter has agreed to wear a dress for Easter. She hates to be pretty. The truth is she is really lovely. Thanks for the chance to win.
I started reading your blog a few months ago when I realized how amazing an RSS reader could be. Now I wait patiently for every new post. Your pictures are salivating and when i see pictures that make me hungry i want to bake. It all started with a cook book given to me as a gift “The art of making bread” ( http://www.amazon.com/Art-Bread-Cooking-Arts-Collection/dp/158159058X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1269845201&sr=8-1) made by the Discover company – the same one that makes the oversized books about dinosaurs and what not. Their pictures (and your as well) make me want to bake. When i bake and share people smile. They love homemade bread or sweet. It fills my heart with happy. Cupcakes (and cake pops,…and pie pops) are my recent obsession. They have been seen at birthdays, classroom presentations, thank-you gifts, and the like all around my campus. Thank you for helping me spread joy to so many people with something so simple and on a stick :)
i’m in the midst of baking those cake pops for easter! cheerios!
and i tried googling for the other necklaces under the same collection. but they are all out! boohoo!
get well soon babe! ^^
A couple of my major phobias are doctors and hospitals – to the point of crying, and freaking out like a baby. I’m so sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well! :(
So cute! I am going to church on Easter and that’s all I know. My Fav donut is a maple bar. We used to have this old german bakery where I grew up with fresh yummy maple bars, oh they were so so good. I am greatful for every breathe I take. I own 5 pairs of shoes. I am afraid of heights. I have a talent of baking things that taste much better than they look. And last but not least my guilty pleasure is your blog! It is one of the few that I allow myself to follow that belongs to someone I don’t know!
I was thinking about you this morning and wondering why there hadn’t been a post…I hope you are feeling better and get your strength back soon!! :) Jessica
I love chocolate bars and maple bars. They’re delicious.
My whole family is getting together for Easter. It will be so much fun since I’ll get to see my two year old niece, who I haven’t seen since Christmas!
I love that necklace almost as much as I LOVE doughnuts!
Ida B
I love donuts and when you said you tried that whole box – I decided I will do that someday and have a donut party eating one bit of all 12 dozen! sounds amazing :-)
Those donuts look amazing!
Something about myself: I have a couple of webbed toes on each foot. Makes me a better swimmer? :)
Heart and star shaped donuts! That’s awesome!
jelly filled donuts & donut holes are my faves…
My favorite donut flavor is chocolate! It’s the one that I usually get!
Thanks a lot for holding this giveaway!
This Easter I will make your adorable Easter Basket Cupcakes just as I did last year. Your site is my guilty pleasure and I am really glad to hear you feeling better.
Im not doing anything for Easter. but im missing my dad, since he’s away. so im saving choc for him. xxx
I’m a hot glazed doughnut from Krispy Kreme kind of gal…but those doughnuts look divine! Yumm!!!
For Easter this year I finally get to go home and be with my Mom. I haven’t been home for easter for a couple of years! I am sure we will color eggs all day long :) I am 24, but I still enjoy coloring eggs every year! And, I would love to win one of those cute, cute necklaces too!
My favorite doughnut is anything with yummy creme in the middle! Seriously, if it has “stuff” inside, I’ll eat it! LOL
my mouth watered the entire time – yum those look good!
Thank you!
I love Donuts, so good and …
Krispy Kream glazed! The “Hot Now” light is in my dreams! Cutest necklace! I want it:)
I’m glad you are feeling better! I checked the blog every day for an update! Here’s a little something about me: I’m happily married to a wonderful man, but I LOVE the feeling of having a silly, never gonna happen crush on someone. It’s like being a teenager again in the good way and not all the other crap that comes along with it. :)
Hi, I’m a reader from Finland. I love sports because they let me eat even more… Here we don’t have so good doughnuts though. But my favorites are apple cupcakes :)
YUMMMMMY!!!!!!! Glad to hear that you are feeling better… Wanna know something????? I have just preordered two of your books on amazon!!! I can’t wait!!! I’m so excited!!!
Your story is so touching… the cake pops look fantastic and for such a great cause… happy sweet 16- 2nd birthday!!!! we’re all glad you have shared all of your wonderful ideas with us!!!
One thing I am grateful for…Right now, I am one of the many who are out of work… but… I am thankful for my family and my health. I can always get a job… I can’t always be healthy and have all my loved ones who love and care about me.
Thanks!!!
i dun hv a particular fav doughnut.. but over here, we have this cream/custard filled chewy doughnuts-like pasty. we call it chewy junior. i particularly like it’s chocolate almond-something-something filling. haha. and we dun really celebrate Easter in Singapore..
Those doughnuts look so yummy and that necklace is so cute! I love all things created from sugar, lol. So much in fact, that for my birthday last week, I asked my husband to order me a very specific chocolate cake from my favorite baker. Not to put candles on, just for me to eat, as my present! lol. It was heavenly!
apple fritter from top pot doughnuts!
Love it! My family has had a doughnut bakery for 18 years. As long as I can remember, my parents have to buy cute doughnut stuff like that! We have things like a doughnut game and doughnut christmas decorations. So fun! I love your talent!! You are amazing!
i baby talk my dogs… a lot :)
I’m dying to try that Oreo doughnut. I’m a stickler for the good ol’ Krispy Kreme traditional glazed most of the time. Fresh and warm straight from the production line. Mmmm.
Glad you’re feeling better!
I LOVE DONUTS!!!! Those pictures look sooooo good! I wish I know how to make donuts because I have wonderful ideas for them!
As I was reading this, I honestly felt sad when you didn’t know where the “A” donut originated from… and what a big coincidence! I am so happy you found out the donut place!
I necklace is sooo cute! I might have to get one myself if I don’t win it! =P
Okay, my next vacation is to Atlanta for Sublime doughnuts! I love donuts. If I didn’t know how bad they were for me, I would eat them every day. I’m a totally basic girl – I love the glazed ones and the maple bars. But oh boy, those ones all look SOOO good.
i made rice krispy treats for the first time ever today.
they are yummy
I wish I lived in Atlanta all of a sudden.
When I was a teenager and started driving myself to school, I would stop and get a dozen doughnut holes, I would munch of them until lunch. Sugar High. Love Doughnuts!!!
I love twist donuts!
Hmm something about me..
I was always voted the most likely to never have kids because I hated them. Couldn’t stand the snotbags.
Now I’m happily a SAHM with a toddler I absolutely adore.
Go figure. Lol
My favorite guilty pleasure is watching Star Trek: the Next Generation. I love Patrick Stewart.
And, I love maple bars. I know it’s traditional, but I can’t get enough.
Glad you’re on the mend! Cream-filled donuts, for sure! None of that fruit-filled stuff for me!
I LOVE blueberry cake donuts. they make me all twitterpated.
i love choc. glazed donut yum.
Oh man alive! We have a shop about 40 minutes away that I saw on Food Network called Psycho Donuts that I’ve been dying to try. I think you just made my mind up :)
Doughnuts look delicious . . . Hope you feel better . . . sometimes we forget the important thinks in life because we are running living in total stress . . . being healthy is the best blessing of all lets enjoy it and hope you get it in abundance (sorry for my English)
I am an organ donor and both your story and Savannah’s were touching !!! I am grateful for my family! My favorite doughnut is chocolate cake! :)
My all time favorite doughnut is any one of them that is frosted in pink! The pink icing just tastes prettier :)
This year I am spending Easter with my whole family including my brother, who lives very far away. I don’t get to see him very much now that we’re “all grown up” and not at home anymore, and I am so excited for his arrival I am literally crossing the days off on my calendar!
If I had to have something tattooed across my knuckles, it would definitely be “more cake”! Thanks for all of your posts and glad you are feeling better!
I love pastries and baked goodies. Not when they’re too sweet, though.
i looove the neclace ;)
Ooo-eee, I love doughnuts! Across the street from my inlaws house is a yummy donut store. A nice cambodian man makes them everyday. We like to get there early and get them fresh. My favorite is the maple bar, but I’ve never seen doughnuts like the ones above. YUMMY!
Mmmm donuts. Those necklaces are gorgeous!!
I hope you’re well now, Bakerella. Take care :)
so funny you should mention donuts, just last weekend i went to a krispy kreme and tried their NON-original donuts.
their limited edition banana creme was divine.
I’m just eating my usual oatmeal… This time with peaches, coconut milk, almonds and cinnamon!
What an adorable necklace, I just made doughnuts this morning for my family. Can’t wait to head back home to the East coast this week and make fresh homemade doughnuts for my family for our Easter Sunday dinner =)
I am a complete dough-nut (i love that by the way). i like ALL flavors really, never met a doughnut i didn’t like. we have the best town bakery and they have killer long john’s and monsterous cinnamon rolls. mouth is watering.
So sorry you have been feeling under the weather!!! I hope you are 100% back on your feet!
I love me some doughnuts! Chocolate, sprinkles, jelly…you name it, I love it!!!
I am grateful for everything this Easter!!! Have a blessed and wonderful (and Healthy) Easter!!!
that has got to bee the sweetest necklace i’ve ever seen (pun intended, haha)
I’m thankful for my mother. She said she wouldn’t give up her kidney for my dad but she would for me :] she was only kidding about my dad [i hope] but i know she would do anything for me. I’m thankful God has given me a mother like her.
I lick the chocolate glaze off of just about any kind of donut… but then I actually tend to leave the donut behind!
I am soooo in love with doughnuts! I love all of them but my favorite ones right now are powdered sugar with icing inside, or the Hawaiian with pineapple jelly inside and toasted coconut on top!!!! Yum!
I watched the hauntingly beautiful film Departures yesterday (won the ’08 Academy for Best Foreign Film) and have recommitted to learning an instrument but, instead of the violin, the cello. The film inspired me.
I’m glad you’re feeling better. Take care of yourself and your heatlh…
This easter we are going to gma’s and celebrating her 80th birthday… easter time = family time!
I love donuts, not just because they are super yummy, but because they have such good memories of my childhood. When I was little, every Sunday morning my dad would take me to our local donut shop, just him and I. He would get an apple fritter, and I’d get a maple bar. We’d eat them in the car before driving home. It was our own secret treat.
How about two things about me…..
For Easter this year we will be enjoying our wonderful churches Easter choir, and drama. Plus there is a kids stick drama too, although I am not entirely sure that that is. I absolutely love celebrating Easter and what the true meaning of the Holiday is. GOD IS GOOD!!!!
And my favorite donut, since the contest is for the most adorable donut necklace I have ever seen, is chocolate iced with sprinkles. I always feel like a kid ordering it, but I still love it!
Next time you sample those doughnuts take an extra bite for me. You can even throw the calories my way.
Glad your doing better – we missed you while you were away.
I need a donut. Right. Now.
I LOVE DONUTS. when i was in like 6th grade, my friend came over and told me she knew how to “make donuts”. she took added a little bit of water to pancake mix and deep fried it. it wasn’t really donut-ty at all, but it still tasted really good (think deep fried pancakes)! :)
OHHHHH My! Those photos make my mouth water!!!!
Hope you are feeling better!
I try to bake one thing per week and (usually) things get better each time I bake them. The one thing that consistently gets worse each time I make it is bread pudding. The first one was pretty good. The second, too mushy. The third, too eggy. The fourth was missing something. The fifth was damned near inedible. This weekend, I will attempt yet another bread pudding. If all else fails, at least I’ll have leftover caramel apple sauce to put on ice cream after I scrape another pudding into the bin!
my cousin showed me your website a few days ago so i just bought a new bag of flour so i can start baking your recipes!! im really excited for the cake pops!
So glad to hear you’re feeling better.
My favorite donut would either be a French crueller or a simple glazed, the French because it just melts in my mouth, and glazed because of simplicity and how good a fresh one in the morning can wake me up!
….. And I will be attending cake decorating classes next week, very exciting as my childhood dream is to become a pastry chef, cordon bleu was too pricey! So I consider this a stepping stone to future sucess!!! =)
I love to bake and I really want to make some doughnuts. Is it donuts or doughnuts? Who cares. They’re delicious! :)
I love doughnuts, maybe more than cupcakes. Or that might just be looking at your pictures and being hungry makes me really want one. Anyways, I’ll be in A-town in May so I’m thinking I might just have to find this little slice of heaven.
I’m so happy to see the link to organ donation. The greatest gift. And I’m glad you’re on the mend! My favorite donut is *drumroll* Glazed Old Fashioned. Does that make me boring!? LOL
Ever since being pregnant with my first baby, I have been a total doughnut lover!!! For me, the best will always be chocolate old-fashioned–especially since it seems like Winchell’s has made their frosting even more dark, rich, and delectable!!!
I’m sorry you were so sick! I am glad you’re getting better! :)
I was hoping for ‘how to” on how to make those donuts because my son, who will be 16 on the 8th want a birthday party and I was thinking about a party for his friends with fresh warm donuts. They look so yummy, but Georgia is very far away from California!!
It’s amazing how greatful you are for things like your health and freedom when you are reminded of those that aren’t quite so lucky.
I’m glad to hear that you are feeling better.
364 nutz !!!!!!!!
my dad has been a baker for 52 years…….i grew up eating donuts……………………………….a fave………no way to hard to decide……..i would be like you and have to try all of them……….the oreo one sounds yummy………think you can ship one over to me in australia?????? enjoy the next dozen bakerella !
Glad to hear you’re feeling better!!
I’m a huge fan of glazed doughnuts :)
…and chocolate doughnuts
oh man after this post i’m craving doughnuts now…
I love doughnuts. When my husband and I first got married, it was a tradition every Saturday morning for him to run out and get doughnuts from a really yummy doughnut shop down the street while I made coffee. Then we’d turn on “Ask This Old House” while we ate. To this day, every time I hear the twangy jingle for “Ask This Old House”, I’m like Pavlov’s dog – I need a doughnut! :)
something random..
i read your blog bc i had read once you had a kidney transplant. i was the donor to my dad’s transplant 3 years ago and now we’re both as healthy as can be. as much as i would LOVE to eat everything you bake.. i know i can’t so reading your log helps me fill my sugar rush!
I love maple bars!! Love the necklace!
I could could live of dunkin donuts munchkins. Life would not be the same without them.
Ok, as a true blooded American doughnut lover, living abroad, you don’t know how big my craving for doughnuts is right now! I am living in an Asian county and needless to say the doughnuts here are more like bread than doughnuts!!! One of the first things I gravitate towards on my annual trip back to the states is DOUGHNUTS!!!!! If anyone out there can figure out how to make overnight shipping actually happen overnight to Singapore, instead of in 3-4 days, then will take oh, I don’t know, about 10 dozen doughnuts!!!!! :-)
those donuts look divine! i am so sad i don’t live anywhere near atlanta. favorite flavor? ooh so hard. i do love a good old fashion cake donut or anything with cinnamon and sugar. yum!
I love custard-filled chocolate-covered donuts. Sadly, my thighs do not share this love.
Have you heard of http://www.fracturedprune.com/? They just had one near my house that got closed, but not till after my sisters and i could get a couple of cavit- i mean, delicious, coma inducing doughnuts. :)
Welcome Back, Bakerella! So very, very sorry to hear about your stint in the hospital.
And…so very, very happy to read about your donut adventures. Yum! Thank you for tasting them all. Bless you, darlin’! Many, many yummy returns.
So glad you’re feeling better and so sorry to hear you had to spend time in the hospital!
Favorite guilty pleasure…a sweet treat, cup of hot coffee or tea with cream & sugar…and a great book, on a sunday afternoon. mmmmm.
Favorite donut: either an apple fritter or a maple glazed anything and I own ten pairs of shoes!
First, my favorite doughnut is the chocolate long-john. mmmm.
I just got married in November for the first time–at age 38!
Hi Bakerella,
First, I’m really glad you are feeling better… I have been sick for three weeks and it takes me longer to get better because of my asthma! Hope you have regained your strength… and your appetite and that you’ll be back to baking!!
My oh my — Those doughnuts NOT only look incredibly SINFUL, but they look incredibly AWESOME! YUMMM!! Send some my way, will you?!! I think if I went there I would gain 50 pounds.. You must have been on a nice sugar high afterwards!!!
I would say my fav. flavour is a butermilk donut with maple glazed topping… I LOVE maple..
However, if I went to Sublime… I’m sure that EVERY one of their flavours would be come my new favourite flavor!!! No doubt!!
Take care and I really love the cute doughnut necklace– C’est très chic!!!
Take care,
Leesa
Ohhh that Peanut Butter Cup doughnut has my name all over it! Yum.
And the necklace is adorable, thanks for sharing!
I am so jealous… we have no donut places where i live…. *sigh* I want donuts so bad right now.
I loooooove doughnuts! I’m glad you shared! My favorite are chocolate frosted, custard filled. Or Bismark, as I grew up calling them. They remind me of being young and sneaking away a special treat with my daddy. Thanks for sharing!
Dear Bakerella,
If you are ever in Portland, Oregon look up VooDoo Doughnuts! They are absolutely my favorite. They offer fun flavors like maple and bacon, froot loop, oreo, and a large variety of vegan doughnuts! A fun fact about me for the contest….. I love their vegan bismark. And I love to walk there from my brothers house when I visit him (I live in Southern California).
Cheers to you!
Jama
Oh wow, I need to find an amazing doughnut store like that. They look so delicious!
Those donuts look amazing! My favorite is maple glazed though they are not common near me. I hope you feel better!
The necklace is adorable :) I’m glad you’re out of the hospital! I think this Easter will be very relaxing, just me and my dog. We will probably take a nice walk or go to the park :)
My boyfriend’s mother introduced me to this website just before Halloween. It has been so dangerous. Halloween was ghost cake pops. For Christmas, it was Santa hat and reindeer cake pops. St. Patty’s Day had me trying the delicious mint oreo truffle “shamrocks”. Unfortunately, I am too busy now to make anything for Easter. But everyone is always amazed by these creations. Someone recently said, “If Lisa made them, then I have to have one.”
Glad you are feeling better. I was wondering why it had been such a long time since the last post.
That is cutest necklace ever! I love doughnuts and oh boy do those doughnuts look delicious. If I ever go to Atlanta, you can bet that I will be making a stop (or two, or three) at Sublime!
if i ever had a donut shop, i would call it DingDuongDonuts
i absolutely love donuts and that necklace =D
This Easter I am staying at college and I am cooking an Easter feast with a fellow foodie! We are going to experiment with fondant, by making a easter egg cake…any tips??
Glad your feeling better!
Oh, this has me so hungry for a doughnut! :) Doughnuts are my weakness and these look so yummy! Hopefully you didn’t have a tummy ache after all this taste testing.
i am so jealous that you have access to such an awesome doughnut shop!
my dad had a heart transplant last year and though he recently passed away, i am eternally grateful for the the donor and their family for blessing us with 10 more months with him.
something about me? well, I live in Atlanta, I’ve been hearing about Sublime for months, I drive past it frequently, and I have NEVER BEEN.
I’m signed up for Sugar Coma Redux though, and I hope we get Sublime doughnuts!!
im in college and wish the next week would just disappear! *poof*
I was diagnosed with diabetes last August. I love coming to your site and the sites in your links page. It’s like food porn. It gets me over the rough spots when I’m craving the forbidden carb like nobody’s business. Thank you for the work you do!
mm donuts..I’m really boring and like like chocolate – chocolate jam or just plain chocolate :) and those necklaces are to die for too…stunning!
Those donuts all look ridiculously delicious. If I lived anywhere near that bakery, I’d be running to the car right now. Normally I would have said my favorite donut flavor is chocolate glaze, but that was before I became enlightened as to the full array of donut options out there. Some sort of chocolate-hazelnut creation would be scrumptious.
We celebrated Easter early and I made a double chocolate cake to look like an Easter basket with Easter cookie pops inside.
i really don’t need that necklace, i just wanted to wish you well!!!
This Easter is my birthday. :-) What better reason for me to win? heehee
I’m legally blind in one eye, I have a deviated septum and my ears don’t curl–making lovely little elf ears. I’m a real catch. :) But, those red velvet do-nuts look AMAZING!!!
My good foodie friend and I launch our food blog on Thursday! We’ve got you on our list of favourite blogs <3
hi happy to see you feel well
i love doughnuts my fav is glazed ,i can eat them all day if i could but might fall in to a diabetic coma oh well
spent the past week with a St. Baldrick’s fundraiser for pediatric cancer….Im thankful that my son is here…9 years old and a cancer survivor!
Also made a whole bunch of Easter chocolate goodies…..
http://www.thechocolateladyblog.blogspot.com
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Talent: I can name all the United States in Alphabetical Order!!!…lol
This Easter I am spending it at my parents house. We are having our first steak BBQ of the year.
Donuts….I love any kind, but I especially love Jam Busters!!
That necklace is just too cute !!!
I share your recipe’s with customers that come into my cafe’ :-)
OMG, those donuts look amazing!!!!!! My 2 favorite all time donuts are pretty boring–maple bars and chocolate old fashioned.
This easter, we’re taking the kids egg hunting and then raiding their baskets for the chocolates they found :-)
Thanks for the chance to win!
Oh my gracious. I looooooove donuts!!! This post has me salivating and wondering how much longer until our local donutery (is that a word, LOL) opens…five hours, I know they open at 5a.m.
So glad you’re feeling better! And…9 weeks ago yesterday the newborn son of some friends (well, he was 6 weeks old at the time) had a heart transplant. So thankful for the kind family, who through unimaginable grief, gave little Christopher the gift of life. We pray for that family as often as we pray for baby Christopher’s recovery.
oooh those look soooo yummy! I ADORE donuts! I confess that as long as it is loaded with sprinkles I will eat it (that goes for more than just doughnuts…). The regular donuts with chocolate icing and sprinkles are my favorite. :) Thank you for the chance!!
My favorite doughnut is a maple bar, not too original I know but it’s always a good one. However, I am not opposed to trying all types of doughnuts just to make sure I have made the right decision.
Sorry you were under the weather-so glad you are feeling better! I hope you can take it easy so you are all better by Easter. Something about me? I am now dying to try the orange dream star doughnut you just posted.
Several months ago, I went on a baking spree. So far this year, I haven’t really had the chance to do so, but I think Easter is a pretty good excuse to bake up some cupcakes to give away!
My fav doughnut is the pudding filled kind. Yummo!
Oh my! I love doughnuts too and that necklace is adorable! My birthday was last Monday and I blew out candles on my birthday doughnut!
We have TWO fantastic doughnut shops in our little town – Rocket Doughnuts and Lafeen’s. I’ve been going to Lafeen’s since I was a little girl :)
I’m grateful for you feeling better. Feb 20th was my mom’s 8th Anniversary of her very own (new-to-her) kidney, who was dubbed ‘Wild Bill’ thanks to the giddiness of anaesthesia ;)
But let’s not get off-topic. Mmm…doughnuts. I think I’m going to finally try making apple cider doughnuts this coming weekend…I’ll think of ya!
I love cinnamon rolls. Not the real ones, but the fluffy, raised ones. I especially love them when the glaze is a little crispy and crackles when you bite it. Ohmygoshyum!
I LOVE donuts!! My favorite donuts are from Mr. Donut, but unfortunately I cannot find this store in America :( In Asia there is still Mr. Donut, and it is cute and delicious! It is quite possible I love Mr. Donut for the cute mascots (character mascots always win me!) But the donuts really are pretty delicious too :) Not too sweet, and with many many flavors!
The doughnut charm reminds me of Homer Simpson and makes me want to say, “Mmmm… doughnuts… /drool”.
My favorite doughnuts? Have you ever been to Smokey Bones restaurant? It’s a BBQ place, but they serve the absolute BEST homemade doughnuts in the WORLD. In. The. World.
Have a happy Easter!
Hi Bakerella! c:
I live in a part of Canada that doesn’t have Krisy Kreme donuts. Isn’t that sad?!
i just bought the cutest pair of sandals and need a doughnut necklace to go with it! :)
my favorite doughnut is a cruelle, i think that’s the correct name for it.
My dad’s birthday falls on Easter Sunday this year so we will all be celebrating together.
there are too many tasty donut flavors out there, but my all-time favorite has got to be original glazed. soft, scrumptious donut dipped in a layer of sugar. simple and delicious.
i am hoping on a plane right now from Seattle to Atlanta just try try that peanut butter doughnut!!! Looks to die for !
Oh my! those looks delicious, i really really really want to try the red velvet one. *sigh*
Oh well, if i can’t have the real thing a necklace will do ;-)
Glad to have you back!
Glad to know you’re feeling better! I’m recovering from being sick myself… my infant and I seem to be passing germs back and forth *sigh*
Wow next time I’m ATL I’ll have to visit that doughnut shop! Although I must confess I’m a Dunkin Doughnuts Bavarian Creme kinda girl ;)
I LOVE strawberry doughnuts, chocolate doughnuts, well any doughnut!! I think I may faint over the smores doughnut though!! Hope your feeling better!
I love glazed donut holes. I think that they are the smartest thing ever. I don’t eat donuts much but when I do I just love licking my fingers afterwards.
LOVE the doughnuts! LOVE the necklace! I need to take a trip to Atlanta just to check out the mocha A!! :)
I’m glad you’re better!
I am thankful that my friends are willing to trade baked goods for odd jobs that I need doing! Like Today, I made my friend Pioneer Woman’s sour cream pancakes and he installed my new car stereo! :)
Organ donation…the gift of life.
Thank you for sharing your story and how you appreciate another chance at life.
This is a topic that needs to be talked about more and I applaud you for incorporating it into your post, and I am encouraged by your success with transplant.
At some point in the future our son will likely be a candidate for a kidney and it scares this momma, so everytime I hear of a success story I give thanks and believe that will be his miracle story too. You gave me hope today.
that necklace is so cute! currently we’re obsessed with funnel cakes at my house. but I dont think a funnel cake necklace would be as cute…
I am a stay at home momma, I love to bake when I get a chance! You are truly an inspiration to all of us “wanna be” Bakerella’s out here in cyber land! Thanks for all you do!
Cutest necklace EVER! Those donuts were the most amazing things I have ever seen! I might just have to have a donut party myself! Feel better! :)
I have a goal to go to Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR this year. Because they look amazing and I sent my friend there and she LOVED it. And I grew up in a bakery, so doughnuts will always be close to my heart. :) <3
The necklace is adorable!
an intersting fact about me…
I don’t eat condiments. No ketchup, mustard, mayo, salad dressing, you get the idea. It is not that I don’t want to, it is just that I have never aquired a taste for them.
I am an Old Fashioned girl but a close second would be a pink with sprinkles a la Homer Simpson.
Hope you feel better, I love looking at your delicious and mouth-watering website.
I missed you Bakerella! I hope you’re feeling much better soon. Thanks so much for all of your lovely ideas and food photos over the months I have been reading!
I started counting the nuts on the butter toffee doughnut, but I got overwhelmed :) I am so thankful for the friends I have been blessed with. They are just awesome!
Ok, my unusual talent is that I can write up-side-down and backwards with both hands at the same time…
Those donuts look so tasty! And the necklace is so cute :)
Something about me… one of my guilty pleasures is eating extra cheese pizza while watching award shows. yum yum yum!
Love the necklace almost as much as I love doughnuts!
My favorite doughnut flavor is raspberry jelly filled. I always get one of those and a plain glazed. But I’m pretty sure I’d break from my usual for one of those ridiculously delicious looking dulce de leche doughnuts!!
Cute! I love chocolate so..anything chocolate is my favorite!
I am so glad that you’re back to feeling better! I was going crazy without my weekly Bakerella posts!!!
My interesting fact?
I’m 20 years old and I STILL wish I had received a letter from Hogwarts at 11. I grew up with reading Harry Potter, and the best birthday cake I ever had was decorated like a drawing from an HP-themed calendar I had as a kid. I’m a grown up dork, definitely!
So glad to hear your feeling better!! I’ve been checking everyday for a new post :) My all time favorite doughnut is glazed topped with coconut flakes!! YUM!!!
I’ve always loved anything in Swarovski! I’m a newcomer to your site, and plan for me and my Mom to try out your smore cupcake recipe sometime…they look amazing! A bit about myself….I’m a wheelchair user and a disability advocate, and I’m most grateful for my Mom. Some of my guilty pleasures: Haagen Dazs chocolate & almond covered bars and I once had the opportunity to try Tim Tam’s…YUM! Not food related, my other major guilty pleasure is my computer! Being disabled where there are times I can’t always go out like I would like, my computer is what keeps me sane and from going crazy, lol. By the way, love entering contests and giveaways, and would love to win one of your contests sometime. Good health to you as well, Cheers!
Glad you’re starting to feel better!
I can’t say I have a real favourite doughnut flavour as unfortunately down in Australia we don’t seem to have many… :( That being said, I’d really love to try the A-town mocha, or the A-town cream or the smores doughnut or the oreo… omgosh I’m so insanely envious!
I may be in my late 20’s, but when I get home from a horrible night of work, my guilty pleasure to escape reality is catching up on fun, carefree, young-people DVR’d shows like the new 90210 and Ugly Betty!
plain glazed donuts- the best EVER!!
I’d rather wear my donut around my neck then around my waist anyhow.
Super cute necklace! Unusual talent? Well, I can lick my elbow and that’s pretty unusual. :)
hmmm, weird talents?
i would say professional yoyo-ing hehe!
This Easter is my birthday, and I have yet to pin down my partner for plans. Sigh. The necklace is so cute! Birthday present? ;o)
Krullers are the best. I could eat 3 of them now with a pot of coffee ;)
What a cute necklace! Glad you’re feeling better. Those doughnuts have me craving something sweet!
i will be making your darling aster basket cupcakes!!
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I look forward to your post every week! Those donuts look AMAZING!
I’m pregnant, in my 1st trimester right now, and most food does not look good to me. But in a couple months a cinnamon sugar doughnut sure sounds good…
I must say, those doughnuts look freakin’ amazing! I’m kind of jealous right now. :]
As for a random comment of nothingness, you should know that I like doughnuts with coconut on them, I am trying my hand at vegan baking :D, and this website has been pretty much an inspiration for me to move forward with learning new things to do in the kitchen. Thank you for that!
LOVE the necklace…and I love maple bars with super thick frosting. YUM
my favorite donut is apple spice n spice from dunkin.
What a lovely necklace…!!!
love it!
Glad you are feeling better. Doughnuts are medicinal!
I love doughnuts but for some reason the older I get, the more I like cake doughnuts better than yeast doughnuts.
My Mom use to make the best doughnuts ever made!
Thanks for the great giveaway. Glad you are feeling better. I read your story, Wow! Thank God for donors.
I think my diet prohibits doughnuts but…
I’d love to wear one on a necklace.
Hope you feel better.
My granddad and I used to go to Krispy Kreme every Sunday morning for breakfast before church. I always got the chocolate with sprinkles and a chocolate milk. This doughnut necklace reminds me those sprinkle doughnuts! So cute!
Now I am going to have to go to Sublime. I have heard so much about it and even saw it on Better Mornings Atlanta a couple of times. Anyways, as a kid the Easter bunny always hid my basket at my grandparents house in a tree. It didn’t bother me because I love climbing trees If Georgia had any trees that had low enough branches I would be climbing trees still. haha!
So glad to hear you are feeling better!!!
Haven’t met a donut I didn’t like;) Have you ever read the book, “Arnie the Doughnut?” It’s one of my kids’ favorites!! Glad you are feeling better!
