I’ve been in spring break mode lately. You might have noticed since I didn’t bake last weekend. I think it’s because I recently went on a vacation which I haven’t done in a couple of years and it felt awesome to just relax and do nothing. And now being back home I can’t stop enjoying the warmth that’s finally taking over. Spring is probably my favorite time of the year. Unfortunately, in the south, you only have about seven minutes to enjoy the season before the hot and humid heat of summer takes over. Okay, okay – I’m exaggerating a little. It probably lasts eleven minutes. ; ) So you’ve got to enjoy all of them while they last. And I’m trying.

The beach! It is my favorite spot, and I’m lucky enough to live on a tropical island (Puerto Rico) so even though I don’t get to it as often as I would like, when I do it is spectacular. That Majestic Yellow looks perfectly sunny and “springy”!

Best places to go when on vacation (even though I know that’s not what you meant) are definitely the local farmer’s markets and supermarkets! That’s why we never stay at hotels but prefer self-catering.

One of my favorite places to go on vacation is the USA, I love the westcoast (spend 6 months in cali a few years back:) ) but I would love to make a trip to NY, Washington and drive down the coastline to Florida. I always miss the food when I’m at home, luckely there is a little shop in Amsterdam (NL) that sells american products! Very expensive, but totally worth it :) Over here it’s not so easy to find simple things like chocolate chips :( The grocerystores simply don’t sell them…So I make a lot of stuff myself, nothing beats a homemade chocolate chip cookie or some millionaires shortbread!

My favourite place to go on holidays is, without any doubt, The ribera maya.
To choose a cake is a bit more difficult but I fancy the brownies spiders with licorice legs and strawberry gumdrops eyes.
There’s a little motel in Panama City Beach, right on the water, that is my all-time favorite place to stay on vacation. It’s small and has no frills, but it’s a private paradise – especially in the off season when the beaches are all but empty. The last time I stayed there, I was lucky enough to see a group of rays in the water from my room’s balcony!
And I am seriously crazy about metallics right now. Silver all the way!

Favourite thing to do is go to Florida, ride rollercoasters all day with cocktails in between. Drunk coasters are the best, then all the alcohol is soaked up with cake and cookies and all that good stuff made in an ICE! coloured kitchen aid.

I live in Germany, thus I really enjoy the North sea for holidays. Especially in spring or autumn, when the weather is a little more rough there. Last autumn I joined a ride on the beach. It was awesome.

I love to go to the mountains for some fresh snow. Coincidentally, white is also the one I like the best!
My favorite place to go on vacation is the beach town of Cayucos, California. Since my kids were small we have been renting beach houses right on the beach where the back door opens up onto the sand. Watching the boys (4 of them + a handful of their friends) run around uninhibited in and out of the water with screams of delight and building great sand castles to have their imaginary battles in have always enough entertainment for me. I had my best nights of sleep breathing the fresh ocean air and listening to the sound of the ocean. In the evening we would sit out on the deck and watch the beautiful sunsets and see the dolphins swimming in the ocean right in front of our house. Cayucos is a small old California beach town where walking to the pier, into town for a coffee or to the corner gas station for homemade cinnamon rolls are the kind of things that we all looked forward to doing each year. That one week was the highlight of my year. Now the boys are grown and off in different directions and I keep thinking that it’s time for a reunion vacation back in Cayucos so we can all relax and enjoy together again.
I would pick PINK for the mixer because it is the color for “Pink Ribbon for The Cure” in support of the fight against breast cancer. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov. and have become very fond of the color pink and the inspiration it gives me. I try to give back by fundraising with Cupcakes for Cancer each year.

My favorite thing to do on vacation is sleep in and laze sans internet – read, knit, snooze, eat, have a beer outside, cupcakes for supper. I really like the pistachio colour!

This makes me want to go on vacation even more now! I’m really wanting a beach vacation, so being barefoot in warm Hawaii sand sounds glorious right now, but my favorite thing to do anywhere I am is to try all the delicious local eats. Crystal Blue is beautiful!
Smokey Mountains in North Carolina-the mixers-all so lovely! My fav is ice, pink, ice, pink…..such a hard decision!!!!

My favorite thing to do on vacation is sleeping in, not watch the clock so that I’m not worrying about being somewhere, just enjoying the change of scenery, and avoiding those pesky daily chores like cooking, washing dishes, and laundry. For cost reasons this is most often done in Las Vegas.
All of the colors are beautiful but if I have to pick just one I think Crystal Blue is the best of the spring time colors!
