Cake, baby!
Yes, this post is all about delicious cake, but just not the kind you eat.
It’s about the kind you can carry. I found this decadent purse online and just fell in love. First with the name of course, and then with the design. It’s from Petunia Pickle Bottom.
But, it’s not just a purse. It’s also a diaper bag. That’s right. Inside this not so little red number is a fold out changing pad, room for diapers and a plastic case for wipes. No one would ever guess. Unless of course they, too have had some cake.
Now, don’t feel like you’ve gotta go and get pregnant just to carry this purse. Petunia Pickle Bottom made the changing pad detachable so you can carry Cake even if you don’t have a little one in tow for a reason.
Did I mention the matching coin purse? Sweet.

Then the fact that it’s Red Velvet Cake is the clincher. I could live on Red Velvet Cake. Yah, I’m going to go make a red velvet cake now…blame it on the baby…Bakerella, you rock. My family calls it “Kate and Aunt Cathy Cake” after the people who introduced it to us. I’m not sure if it has a real name. German chocolate cake drizzled with chocolate sauce, caramel, and sweetened condensed milk when the cake is warm. Then, we stick it in the fridge to cool. Once it is thoroughly chilled, we top it off with Cool Whip and Heath bar bits. It’s so delicious!

For our wedding, our baker made a chocolate cake layered with sweet cream and raspberry jam. This is pretty darn close to being my favorite cake!

Italian wedding cake!
OMG!!! I just had a baby on Monday of Last week and this was the one splurge I wanted to get for myself!! I never did get it!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! My favorite cake is yellow with chocolate or wedding cake!
I’m a very new subscriber to your Bakerella blog. Can I just tell you? My emails are a happier place because of your blog. My email mailbox was beginning to look like my actual mailbox—it was full of hooey and junk mail. Yuck! J I stumbled across your stuff in my search to wow a school of teachers for a Teacher Appreciation gift in February. And I totally knocked the bell curve off its axis with my gift!!!! (with your help, of course). I took your postings of the ever-clever Coke-Cola Bear Snowglobe and rearranged parts and pieces. What I came up with put, made some of my teacher’s cry tears of joy and gratitude. I’ve attached a picture of my Valentine’s Heart Snowglobe—altered from your original, but done in your honor. The cupcake is one of from a larger size cupcake pan, done in red velvet, and the heart is made from 2 small candy canes (that I saved from Christmas). I forgot to take a picture of my final-final cake—I went a step further and filled in the candy canes with white chocolate and sprinkled each one with happy little valentine’s sprinkles. Thank you so much for sharing such a delicious part of yourself. I couldn’t have delivered such a beautiful gift to 105 teachers/support staff without your cake site. (yep, I turned out 105—actually more—of this pretty little babies)
So, that brings me to where I am this morning: my favorite cake ? my most, absolute favorite cake is Red Velvet. My grandma has a recipe from her grandma. So, now my mom has it and is teaching my daughter how to make it. It’s a totally scratch kind of thing, even the icing on top is scratchy. It’s the most delectable thing on the planet. I Love it.
I know lots of people write to thank you for your blog—so, please add my name to your list. I thought I could be clever and come up with a different, unique way to say thank you—I checked my thesaurus—I can’t. Thank You has to stand alone.

My favourite is White Butter Cake. I found a recipe on joyofbaking.com and it has become my favourite. I make it without the zest in the icing and it’s the perfect mix of buttery cake and cream cheese icing with the hint of strawberry.
It’s a heavier big crumb cake and I love it!
