Cake, baby!
Yes, this post is all about delicious cake, but just not the kind you eat.
It’s about the kind you can carry. I found this decadent purse online and just fell in love. First with the name of course, and then with the design. It’s from Petunia Pickle Bottom.
But, it’s not just a purse. It’s also a diaper bag. That’s right. Inside this not so little red number is a fold out changing pad, room for diapers and a plastic case for wipes. No one would ever guess. Unless of course they, too have had some cake.
Now, don’t feel like you’ve gotta go and get pregnant just to carry this purse. Petunia Pickle Bottom made the changing pad detachable so you can carry Cake even if you don’t have a little one in tow for a reason.
Did I mention the matching coin purse? Sweet.

Favorite cake is difficult to say. I LOOOOOOOOOOVE carrot cake, and I just discovered Tartelette’s caramel cake with caramelized butter frosting, which was divine. And then there’s red velvet. Ohhhhhh the possibilities.

White layer cake with Fluffy White Frosting (also known as 7 minute frosting) with coconut sprinkled all over! For Valentines day I tint the cake pink and bake it in heart shaped pans then decorate the top and sides with halved Maraschino Cherries. Delicious!

The best cake EVER is actually the recipe from the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa container! My aunt makes it using cream instead of milk…. I made it for my friend’s birthday, and his friend in the dorm room across the hall heard him say “OH MY GOSH, THIS IS THE BEST CAKE EVER!” through two closed doors!

I love chocolate texas sheet cake. It’s made with buttermilk, nuts, chocolate and is oh so rich and delicious. Red velvet is a close second though.

Cherry chip is my favorite cake of all time. My neighbors used to have it at all of their family events and we were always invited. I loved that cake so much. It’s a box mix…and we can’t get it in WI. I have to bring boxes home with me when I visit my hometown in Iowa.

My answer would usually be ICE CREAM CAKE! all the way, but I recently discovered a new recipe by Alton Brown called “Gold Cake.” oh…myy….At first I thought it was just another yellow cake, but it is soooo not. It has caramel infused into it. It is DELICIOUS. You should use it to make some cake pops they would be delectable. :)

Since I was a little girl, my favorite cake has been Prinsesstårta, Swedish princess cake. It may have been because my favorite color was green at the time, but who can resist sponge cake, thick pastry cream, raspberry jam and marzipan! Thank heavens for a certain international Swedish furniture store, that’s where I get a fix for my cravings!

I have to admit that I eat decidedly less cake than I do ice cream. As a pastry chef, I make cake & cupcakes 24/7, so at the end of the day, there’s nothing better than scooping ice cream into my big ol’ mug and making a beeline for my bed. Pure bliss. That said, I made a new cake combo last week for a client and it was heavenly: the recipe came from Amy Atlas’ website – chocolate cake soaked in fleur de sel caramel, filled and frosted with chocolate caramel ganache. Or chocolate cake soaked in orange liquor and simple syrup covered in ganache… or just chocolate cake straight up, no icing whatsoever. Brownies are good too….

Well red velvet cake has been my longtime favorite…but was just dethroned by chocolate cake with Nutella buttercream. YUM.
There is a place here in omaha that makes a cake called Strawberry Wedding Cake, it is white cake with a strawberry filling with a whipped topping like frosting with strawberries on top of that. It is so yummy. Everyone is always excited when they see it at a baby or wedding shower!
