Cake, baby!
Yes, this post is all about delicious cake, but just not the kind you eat.
It’s about the kind you can carry. I found this decadent purse online and just fell in love. First with the name of course, and then with the design. It’s from Petunia Pickle Bottom.
But, it’s not just a purse. It’s also a diaper bag. That’s right. Inside this not so little red number is a fold out changing pad, room for diapers and a plastic case for wipes. No one would ever guess. Unless of course they, too have had some cake.
Now, don’t feel like you’ve gotta go and get pregnant just to carry this purse. Petunia Pickle Bottom made the changing pad detachable so you can carry Cake even if you don’t have a little one in tow for a reason.
Did I mention the matching coin purse? Sweet.

I love 1234 cake….it is an old fashioned butter/pound cake used to celebrate everything from births to anniversary in my family. I love it for the buttery dense taste but also because it has been handed down from generation to generation….I heard it is called 1234 because it was 1lb of butter, 2 eggs, 3 cups of flour etc….simple ingredients for an outstanding cake!!!
Cherry Chip cake! It was a box mix that my Grandma used to make for me when I was a little girl. I looked for it at my walmart and sadly could not find it.

My favorite kind of cake…that’s a hard one. Devil’s food cake with vanilla buttercream is my go-to recipe. It’s hard to mess up.
At the end of the day, my favorite cake is my birthday cake, whateve flavor. My husband was aghast when I told him that, once i was old enough, my mom had me make my own birthday cake every year. Her rationale was, I loved to bake, she hated to, so it was reasonable. My husband’s exact words were, “That is the saddest thing I have ever heard.” He then made a rule that nobody in our family would make their own birthday cake. And for the past 11 years, I haven’t. It’s lovely.
I am not sure I can pick a favorite kind! I love upside down pineapple, but angel food is up there. . . . and chocolate. Who can turn down a nice slice of moist, rich chocolate cake? Yum
Definitely Pineapple Upside Down cake, every year at my birthday dinner I claim all the corner pieces and enjoy one for breakfast everyday until it’s gone :)

My favorite cake is chocolate. Not just chocolate but a combination of lots of chocolates. Of all the cake I’ve ever eaten, the Kaluha Torte at a little local German restaurant is the best I’ve ever had (I think they get it from the local bakery).

So many great cakes to choose from. But, for this I have to go back to childhood traditions and go with a chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream frosting. To top it off we enjoyed this cake, lovingly referred to as “cake soup.” Yep, stick a piece of cake in a bowl, pour milk over it, grab a spoon. Mmmmmm….

Red Velvet cake is the cake my boyfriend bakes for me (from scratch!) on special days. The first time he made it, he borrowed a cake pedestal from his mother. The second time, he bought his very own! It’s the only thing he bakes and it’s delicious every time… partly because he tries so hard, and partly because I know he would only make that cake for me.
You mean there are other kinds besides chocolate? As far as I’m concerned a nice devil’s food with thick, thick, chocolate frosting beats all.

Out of all the fancy cakes I’ve had in my life, my favourite is still a simple hot milk cake. The Rum Torte for special occasions, and 7-layer…special occasions and whenever….even for a feel good moment…you can buy it by the slice!!!!

My favorite caked is a malted milk ball cake. Got the recipe from the cookbook Baked. It is so light, but with a hint of toasted chocolate, and the icing is fantastic. My second favorite would be the ultimate coconut cake that is found in Peninsula Grill in Charleston, SC. To die for.

Not really a cake but… Chocolate Concrete with Mint Custard – my mum was a lunch lady and this was something we used to eat in elementary school (in England) – it’s still my favourite dessert though to make it now we have to trim the original recipe which was for 300!
