I’ve shown you guys this Cupcake Courier before. It’s been awhile, but I still love it and I wanted to show you a couple more ways you can enjoy it.
First and foremost, it carries cupcakes.
It can hold 36 cupcakes. Or 24 or 12 or any amount in between. Just remove the stackable trays to suit your need.
Perfect for larger batches of cupcakes or taking them to a holiday party or get together.
And if you remove all three trays…
Then you can use it for cakes. And pretty big ones, too.
But here is the best part. The real reason I have fallen deeper in love with this carrier. It allows me to do much more when it comes to carrying my baked goods.
I am talking specifically about cake pops here. Yep, because the courier is so tall, it triples as a handy dandy cake pop courier, too.
It serves multiple purposes. One… it simply allows you to store them upright without having to wrap them in treat bags.
And two… it allows you to carry them more easily to happy recipients. With or without treat bags.
Here … let me show you what I mean.
Tah dah. Perfectly protected pops. Of course you’ll have to imagine them made for full effect. I just used sticks and styrofoam to illustrate the idea.
If you use 6-inch paper lollipop sticks (8-inch sticks would be too tall) and some styrofoam, it will fit just fine in the base of the courier.
Styrofoam blocks come in many sizes and one of the common sizes is 4 x 12 x 2 inches high. Grab two of them and place them side by side on the base and then make 12 holes in each block. You can then easily carry 24 cake pops. And if you can’t find the styrofoam in that size, then cut down a larger piece of styrofoam to 8 X 12.
Either way it’s a great way to get more out of an already handy product. You can find them on amazon.com.
Hope that helps all you guys that are cake popping and cupcake making… and of course, carrying.

I bake a lot of bread. To separate the dough evenly and easily I use a speckling knife–it works perfectly!
I have “the basket.” It resides on a bench in the dining room right next to the staircase. Anything that goes upstairs that is found lying around downstairs goes in. It goes up at bath/bed time and things get put away. A quick check upstairs and we bring back down what goes downstairs. Less trips up and down, and when the kids can’t find something they know to check “the basket.”
I always throw/give away something old when I buy something new. For example toys, clothes, decorations, etc… that way I always have room in the house and less clutter.
I’m most productive at the last minute!
As for making something double its usefulness, I use my muffin pans to make little pastries or bite size dinner items like cheeseburger bites. It’s an easy way to make dinner a little more fun!
You know when you’re making a pastry dough and you get a mixture of butter and flour all over your hands? Rinsing with water straight away will only make it sticky and hard to clean off. But if you just grab some extra flour and rub it between dry hands over a trash can, they eventually become clean enough to simply rinse off. By the way, I love the blog! It’s such an inspiration. <3
I use the magic eraser for cleaning almost everything except my children… I love it.
I love cutting out and using coupons because you can definitely get more of a product while saving less money!
I usually purchase packages of those small “zip-loc type bags” that come in packages of 100pcs for somewhere around $1.25. I snip the zip part off and use them for treat bags. Its way more cost effiecient and since they come in many sizes can be used for anything from cookies to cake pops!
I use a toothbrush and warm soapy water to clean the diamond on my engagement ring. Works great!
I try to clean up the house while I’m watching TV (during the breaks).
I get home late from work during the week and am too tired to cook most of the time. To avoid eating out, I started cooking a week’s worth of dinners and lunches on Sundays. It’s a lot of work on Sunday but I’ve been eating healthy and saving money.
My iTouch has been my lifesaver! It’s help me organize my life, keep me entertained, and stay in touch with everyone. It’s everything i need to become more productive in the palm of my hand =)
I also love my cupcake/cake carrier. It comes in handy all the time-taking treats to work etc. You can put just about anything in there to carry!
I find I’m most productive when I do everything on my own. Sometimes this even means no stand mixer.. its just so big and bulky sometimes, not to mention FRUSTRATING when someone else tries to operate it. But when I’m productive, I’m not having the most fun with my baking, so I try to only get in the zone when needed.
Wow, I could use this for so many things… :)
I love how versatile it is!
Hmmm… made do with less…. well my favorite foamy soap no longer graces my sinks :( Found out if I mix a bit of H2) with refill soaps, works just as good. Now I ask for foamy soap for Christmas and my birthday! People think I’m nuts! lol
Also, before bed I ALWAYS make a to-do list for the coming day. I group my errands and plan my route. This is a necessity since we live 20 miles from the nearest shopping area. Saving gas and my time!
Got rid off the tv’s in the bedrooms, with only one in the living room I watch less tv and do more stuff like spending more family time :)
Parchment paper! It makes cleanup a breeze! I waste so much time cleaning up after myself when I don’t use it. (I’m a very messy baker =P)
CokeZero and I work MIRACLES together….
I am more productive when I have a list to follow–that way I can see the light at the end of the ‘project’ tunnel after crossing off each individual task on the list. Gives a great feeling of accomplishment when that last thing on the list is crossed off!
I use bleach for lots of cleaning supplies – I use it diluted for daily shower spray, toilet bowl cleaner (I pour it in and it cleans!), etc. So much cheaper.
since i don’t have icing bags, the handiest thing that i’ve ever used is ziploc bags for piping… absolutely loved it :)
I’m most productive when I have Family Guy on in the background–that’s some good motivation right there!
I enjoy having the TV or radio on in the background while I am working, especially if it is late at night. It helps me to concentrate when I am decorating.
Cookie cutters!! I used them to make little fruit, vegetable snacks for my daughter and sometimes even sandwiches in those cute forms. :)
E-reading: I’m able to read all I want from one source rather than multiple books and newspapers.
this may sound bad… but sometimes a good old glass of wine helps. OR… A HUGE FROSTY MUG OF BEER! BLUE MOON TO BE EXACT! YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMO!… oh yeah and some classical music and a fluffy robe with a brittish accent :D
love my to do list & can’t be afraid to askfor help!
Great idea. I want one!
I am a busy homeschool mom. So I have to watch my time on the internet and craft time. I save these things for breaks (like Thanksgiving :))
I have found that the less knick-knacks I have around the house means less dusting.. So I have to REALLY love it before I will display it.
Well I don’t have an alternative use for an old product but I use my grocery list as a tool. I go so often i organize my list by areas of the store and on the other side of my list I make my menu for the week so that I know exactly what needs to be on my list.. I then make a copy of my list for my kids to play with, or even try to help me shop ;)
Andrea
I just got a dishwasher! I’ve hand washed dishes 5 out of 6 years of our marriage and lets just say I will NEVER go without again!!
I not sure this is what your looking for but most people believe it or not don’t know this. To clean your microwave put a glass measuring cup of water in and heat it for a couple of minutes and wipe out. the water heating steams it and loosens any harden food particles. I know DAH!
I usually bake all our goodies and snacks, it’s cheaper, fun and I can control what my kids are putting in their mouths.
I find that writing things on a dry erase board help me do more with less
Sadly, sometimes I have to completely turn my internet OFF to be more productive! I get too distracted otherwise.
I love using ‘homemade’ cleaning supplies….vinegar & baking soda are my faves!
I had this candy jar that i’ve used for so many projects. As well as lollipop sticks. I use them for cake pops, candies, and arts projects! [=
I love cookie cutters. I use them for so many things other than cookies. I use them for fondant, I use them for stencils on paper, and I am always looking for unique cookie cutters! I recently bought some that allow you to personalize a message in them before baking, I use them for favors and they are wonderful!
I have enjoyed using a laundry basket for carrying around the newborn or tiny babies we receive at the orphanage. It is a handy way to keep them safe and they feel cozy inside.
Toothpicks are amazing! I use them for crafts, baking, cleaning, and of course when you get that subborn piece of pepper stuck in your teeth.
For the “more with less” topic, I learned a really cool reuse/recycle tip from my amazing Grandma.
Take the Christmas Cards you received last year, cut them up, punch a hole, and turn them in to gift tags for this year’s gifts. They can either be side or top fold, depending on how you cut it & what the design is, or just flat. You can get more creative with it by adding embellishments.
Just a fun idea for this time of year :)
Thanks for this cool contest!
When I cook something big like a lasagna or stew, I prepare twice as much and freeze half. That way next month all I have to do is defrost and heat and we have a big meal with little time.
I shop the after holidays sales. when I hosted my sister’s bridal shower I was able to purchase $15 game prize gifts for only $2.50 after Valentine’s Day, and many decorations! Shopping the after holiday sales helped in throwing a party that looked expensive but was on a very tight budget.
My cell phone helps me to be more productive. I can call from wherever I am to my customers and famiy and friends to be surethisngs are running on schedule.
How do I do more with less you may ask? I am able to focus more on my family the less “clutter” I have going on in my life :)
Getting along with less- I ruined my laptop so I share my computer with my husband. Makes me a little more conscious about how much time I am spending on there.
I donate my used cards to St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. They take the front of cards and make new ones they can sell to raise funds. http://stjudesranch.org/help_card.php
I’m more productive when under pressure, otherwise, I procrastinate to no end!
I am more productive if I plan out my activities in advance. Planning and being organized makes everything go faster
In my house there is a set of nesting plastic bowls that we use for everything. They are mixing bowls, serving bowls, weights, cake covers, and sometimes hats.
Instead of exchanging expensive gifts over the holidays we exchange meals. I make my sister’s favorite meal and have her family over, she makes my favorite meal and has me over, I make my Aunt her favorite pie, My uncle, cookies, etc… It’s a great way to cut down on costs and everyone gets something they enjoy :)
I use a single email address with hotmail to do everything on the internet. makes my life simple and easy to manage.
Instead of worrying about attaching delicate details with frosting to cakes, I’ve used candy melts. Those things harden like super glue and still taste AMAZING!
I use the boxes from snacks like cheese itz to mix my paints on
..my nieces and nephews didn’t have gloves for snow, but they were so anxious to get out there. So to subsitute the gloves we put a pair of socks on with a plastic bag over it, and you know what we found out that, that kept them warm and outside longer then their gloves would have done..corney I know but they ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!
I do more by sleeping less. It is amazing what you can get done in the morning without distractions.
Ziplocks! When I start a project (like cutting out a pattern to sew) I’ll collect everything I need from the pattern to the fabric pieces, the buttons, elastic, etc and put everything together in one big Ziplock and then it’s all ready to go when I’m ready to sew! :)
I cook french toast in the waffle iron! SO much faster than the traditional way.
Homemade gifts!
I’m much more productive when there is much less TV viewing.
I have created a schedule for myself. It is laminated and hung up on my kitchen wall. Every time I complete a task I mark it off. I also carry a planner because, I do not have a fancy phone… yet!
I need to stay off facebook!!
I love cooling racks…use them for lots of things besides cooling.
Well if you ask my wife, I’m not productive at all! ha!!
I do more with less by using awesome phone apps. There are many useful, fun, and creative apps out there that help make life a little bit easier to manage.
I put dishwasher detergent in the holder as soon as I empty the dishwasher in order to tell if the dishes in it are clean or dirty.
Soap = Dirty, No Soap = Empty Me.
Large zip lock bags are HUGE space savers in your luggage when travelling! My husband and I recently went on a trip to Australia. To avoid paying extra luggage fees, we packed our clothes into a few large ziplock bags (remove the air as much as possible) and VOILA! We were able to fit both our clothes into ONE mid-size backpack! That in turn allowedus to move easily without dragging a large suitcase everywhere!
I just got some new pans that are actually non-stick AND have lids! I have been using old lid-less pans from my husbands grandma for the last 4 years since wes have been married and it is AMAZING now with these new pans that the food doesnt stick to them! Makes cooking lots more fun AND productive. Saves time not using my elbow grease to get them clean!
I find I am more productive when I have less time… I think the crunch really motivates me. So, if I have a school prject due, I usually end up with some brownies too, since I had to do SOMETHING productive with my procrastination :D
I don’t know if this is quite “doing more with less” – but I have been addicted to Goodwill lately! I was trying to think of some way to organize hair products and makeup in my bathroom, and found two glass cake stand/pedestals that will be just PERFECT for stacking everything onto in a cute, girly way. So excited! And of course, for those times when cake stands are needed, I can just grab one that I already have, wash it off, and there we go!
Dual purpose things are soo hot right now, hahaha. <3
Ok.. so I discovered this by accident and was not entirely happy about it at first. When my laptop died, we decided to wait a bit before repairing it and have been using the old desktop computer. Turns out that since hubby & I have to coordinate our time on the computer, we both actually online a whole lot less. Go figure.
I love using my straight iron as a currling iron also for my girls hair! I was very excited not to have one more item laying on my bathroom counter in the morning!
Productive? PRODUCTIVE? What is this and how do I make it stop?
I use household items for cutting out cookies and baked goods to save money and space. I made doughnuts the other weekend and I used a cut-up Gatorade bottle instead of buying a doughnut cutter, and it worked just as well!
I like to reuse the tupperware you get when you buy lunch meat :)
Before I found a turntable I liked for decorating cakes, I used the wheeled ring and glass plate from my microwave. It worked great for light cakes but the big, heavy cakes weighed it down a bit much. It didn’t always stay in place and would sometimes slide away from me. :) I finally found the turntable I wanted. It’s made of 1″ thick MDF and spins like a dream, and now nobody complains about not being able to use the microwave. :)
Internet is too time consuming, so baking it is….
I’ve recently started using Method laundry detergent that is ah-mazing because not only does it smell great, it uses less plastic and liquid/detergent than if you were to buy a big ol’ bottle or tub! You can do tons of loads of laundry with such a small concentration! Oh yeah, it’s plant-based and 95% natural, too!!!
Great. Now I sound like a gosh darned advertisement. Haha.
Hi, I turn my computer off and my tv and i focuse on my task so i can get back to them and i am done in a minute lynn
I tend to be more productive when my internet connection is down ;)
This has nothing to do with baking, or even kitchens, but it does save me money, which is productive, right? I buy the all-in-one facial cloths to wash my face with, but instead of using the whole cloth, I cut them into quarters. It still does the job, and I buy them less often than I would have to otherwise!
Planning weekly menus, organizing coupons, and grouping items on a grocery list (i.e., health & beauty, produce, dairy, frozen, etc.) so I don’t waste time going back and forth for items I missed or overlooked.
Throughout my years of amateur baking, I have yet to invest in a (cup) cake (pop) carrier. Those fondant Christmas-themed cupcakes are absolutely adorable though!
I do code at night.
No sounds, no disturbance.
Very productive.
I’m most productive when my sweet husband is working right beside me : )
With having 3 kids. I have come to learn to give them one or two toys at a time and put up the extras. This not only saves on the mess in the house, the clean up time, but also the kids always enjoy playing with the toys like they are new.
With my hubby out of town- less sleep gives me more time to read, check out your blog, and bake…..
I’m Chinese, so rice is very important. However, I’ve found that not only is it great for eating, but also using the leftover water used to clean the rice is good for watering plants (my grandmother says it’s more nourishing), as a face toner, and even a mask!
I can’t think of anything, but I am on an organizing binge and I am determined to get organized and get rid of things I never use. I love some of the ideas of your other readers.
Awesome! I’ve been wanting a WP7 phone!
I’ve found that the less I say “yes” to requests the more productive I am generally, and specifically with the few things I do say “yes” to. A wonderful benefit is that less stress = more productivity as well. Not to mention that whatever it is I’m “producing” turns out better done than it otherwise would have. No doubt this is old hat for many here, but it’s something I’m just recently starting to learn.
I’m a poor college student, so I try to do more with less everyday, haha.
As for being productive, I find that staying organized is essential! I have a big dry erase calendar on my wall and a planner with lots of room to write that help me keep track of upcoming tasks and events. I try to set short-term goals every day, and I’ve found that doing a little bit at a time helps me stay productive. crossing little things off my to-do list feels so good and keeps me motivated :)
When I pick flowers from the garden or when I receive flowers as a gift, I add a bunch of other greenery from the yard so that instead of just having a bouquet for myself, I can make lots of little bouquets. I put them in Martinelli’s individual apple juice jars–with a narrow neck and in the shape of an apple–and give them to my neighbors, most of whom are elderly widows. We all are delighted to have fresh flowers and company; everyone wins!
i like to keep construction paper around
it makes cute deccorations for my daughter’s door, windows, and anything else i need
I’ve learned that having the kids help out in the kitchen can increase productivity. And sure sometimes we end up with a bigger mess, but the memories we get to share make up for it!
My phone simplifies my life enormously. I used to carry a planner but now the phone contains my calendar. I used to have an address book, but now my phone contains years and years of names and numbers which can be easily updated.
It has a calculator, so I don’t need a separate one of those. I make notes in the memos function, even grocery lists. It goes way beyond a phone and I’d be lost without it!! (and no, I don’t work in telecom!).
I try and cut corners wherever possible. The latest and greatest corner cutter is to tear my dryer sheets in half. They still work just as well, and I get twice as many loads for the money! :>)
In our house, the kitchen wisk makes a great kdis toy. My 9-month old baby will take a wisk and a water bottle over an expensive toy, any day.
you are going to think that i am seriously wired…but i use my a piece of my hair and twist it to make a loop and make little flowers on my big toes:] a DIY pedicure!!!
With less things in the room, less clutter on my desk, the better focused I am on my books! Otherwise, I find myself cleaning and sorting instead of reading.
The less time I have the more productive I can get if I make a list before I start. It helps to keep me focused.
i use mini muffin tins to make my cookies! i dont have to buy more baking pans! and when they all come out they are all the same size! its perfect!
I found less toys downstairs makes cleaning much productive
I use baking soda to clean all. my bathtubs, sinks, shower, you name it. Even the toilet! It’s very cheap, non-toxic, you don’t have to worry about it bleaching your clothes or anything!
I have the same carrier in blue! It is awesome, and life is simply more productive because I don’t have to spend time figuring out how to transport things, including wasting disposable containers!
I do more with less by staying out of the stores unless absolutely necessary.
I am most productive when the grandkids go home.
I am loving aluminum foil as an insulation material these days, helps me shape cakes, and keep things warm :)
I love dual purpose items, especially when it is a surprise. I use my cannoli molds to cut out the holes of homemade doughnuts and use my egg slicer to evenly slice kiwi for fruit pizzas and fruit salads.
Pick me! Pick me!
As I get older, I find that making lists (and checking them twice) helps in the productivity department.
I am a big fan of the Texas sheet cake pan (jelly roll pan). Great for baking, cooking, crafts, as a tray, etc. :) I have three… currently with fall leaves pressed in between.
I try to reuse just about anything that I can, recently I have found that old ice cube trays are great to hold paint for my son as he creates his Christmas masterpieces =]
I agree with Christine–the less stuff I buy, the less I have to clean and pick up, and the more I get done!
Does it count if we are more productive with our money? I found that using plastic wrap is just as cute as bags! It’s shiny, fairly easy to use, cheap!, and you can get it in different colors!
We have a mesh laundry bag that was originally used by my husband for it’s intended purpose. When we adopted our Lhasa Apso mix, however, he tended to hide in/under things, and instead of buying him an expensive dog bed we just laid the laundry bag on its side, put a blanket in it, and he uses that for a bed. He loves it!
Making lists for my weekly meals is one way I try to do more with less. I plan out what we’re going to eat so I can hopefully buy less food and keep us fed with delicious meals. So long as I don’t go to the grocery store hungry it works!
I use baby wipes containers to store all sorts of things. And I keep a paper towel on the floor when I’m cooking. I can keep working with my hands while I use my foot to quickly wipe up little splashes and spills.
I would make more homemade gifts, since I’ve learned how to make cake pops for all my parties and even thought about making them as a side job, for some extra cash, since my husband stays home and I’m the only one working .. we make them together and its fun for us, so to make money while doing something fun … but we need a transport vehicle…
I love my kitchen aid mixer. saves me tonssss of time!
I like to make wreaths (for my home and as gifts) out of unusual items like an old garden hose (that had a leak) or 99 cent flip flops.
welp, I can’t win :( but I still wanted to share my tip, for the cupcake courier, no less (if someone is actually reading all 4000 comments, that is…). Since it’s so large, and kind of awkward to store if you live in a small apartment, I store all my cupcake and decorating paraphernalia in it. It serves as a mobile drawer. Love the thing!
As a college student, I’ve needed to figure out ways to stretch a dollar and sometimes that means Ramen…yes…Ramen. BUT I do what I can and add vegetables/chicken/spices to make it more for less!
Fun giveaway! Homemade gifts! I like it
When my favorite pair of shoes falls apart, I turn to super glue before buying new ones.
I’m most productive at 2am with no facebook, no music, no watching videos.
I make lots of lists to be productive. I’m OCD like that… but it works!
I use lists to grocery shop (simple, I know). I also make meals two at a time and freeze the second so I have an easy freezer meal when I’m rushed.
I collect strange charms and make them into earrings. Showing up to a dinner party with an earring knife, fork, and spoon was priceless!
I didn’t have any skills the CIA wanted, so I went to the Culinary Institute of America instead!
There’s a 99 cent store around the block from my home..nuff said!
I reuse my old clothes that don’t fit me anymore to make my own self-designed outfits instead of throwing them out. I usually donate them, but sometimes I also like to make tote bags out of them or make cute dog outfits for my dog :)
I’ve found that I love Mason jars. Comes in handy for storing all kinds of extras around the house, like kosher salt when the box tore, my yummy rock sugar for tea, various mixes, etc. Then there’s the crafty things that can be stored in the jars like buttons & ribbons. Really helps to have the right container handy & ready to use at all times.
Instead of cooking all week long I do all my cooking on the weekend for the week ahead. So, I cook 3-4 meals on the weekend to reheat during the week. That gives me more time to spend helping my kids with the homework or just to be able to hang out instead of being stuck in the kitchen.
Wow!! gotta get one of those holders! That would save so much time and just be so cute! Something handy and timesaving… must say my parchment paper! it makes baking so easy and cleanup a breeze!
I re-use plastic coleslaw and sandwich filler tubs to use as single cupcakes holders for family and friends. I dont know whether it makes me more productive but nobody complains!
For me, keeping my tasks and calendar events/appointments on my phone and in the cloud makes a huge difference. I don’t lose track of “to-do” items and can work on them as time allows. It’s also useful if my family can share that information so we know what’s going on with everyone. That way we don’t have any scheduling conflicts or the need to call around to see whether or not our family is free for a particular event.
It’s definately a lot easier to clean the house when u have a small one.
I sing or hum to my baby girl to calm her, when she is upset.
I do more by doing what I do the right way the first time. Less rework means more new work.
My kids love to paint, but I hate the mess. We hold onto our used plastic fruit cups and put our paint in there. When we are done painting, we just throw the messy cups away.
Went to make a small batch of burritos the other week. Nothing fancy, seasoned meat, cheese, salsa and the like. I get to the warmimg up my tortillas phase, and notice that I am without tortillas. Not to miss out on my savory snacks, I scuttled the fridge and found a head of cabbage. A quick pause for deep thinking and the cabbage wrapped burrito was born. Despite being healthier for me, I enjoyed them anyways. Doing more with less. Enjoy everybody and good luck.
I’m more productive when I get up early and eat good brakfast
salt. im getting along swimmingly with less of it.
I have my router block reddit.com – instant productivity increase!
I don’t go to the grocery without a list. Too tempting to go over budget!!
This year we were given thousands of gourds and pumpkins to give to our friends, family, neighbors and strangers! I have been exhuated by the amount! We had our first big snow storm of the winter and our kids wanted to make a snowman. We didn’t have carrots or coal, so we used different gourds to make a face! The kids loved it!
I found during the summer months, that after shaving (and having had sunburn on my face) that aftersun makes for fantastic aftershave.
Granted getting sunburn in Ireland is a rarity in itself. A shortcut to modern living however.
I’ve found that I’m more productive when I turn my cellphone off and turn on the music. I get A LOT done.
great product….i am most productive between 8:00 and 11:00PM
I have that courier in blue, I get compliments on it ALL THE TIME!!! A single mom invented it, and it was sold out for while. How cool is that? :)
I buy shaped silicon ice cube trays to make perfectly shaped cake balls. First I push the cake mixture into the mold, stick in the freezer, pop it out, then dip it in chocolate. I just got a really cool skull tray from Z Gallery!!!
I make gifts for family & friends for the holidays!
We gave up cable and our home phone this year. For telephone we just use our cell phones and for television we have Netflix or get movies from the library. I have read more books this year then I have in my whole life.
I’ve found that the less I have the more productive I am. I guess you consume less so you have more time to create. I guess that’s why I like moving around, changing up the work area. Start with a clean slate then restart when you’ve accumulated too much stuff.
i want a windows phoneeeeee !
I freeze any leftovers to make a meal for later in the week or the next week. Keeps the kids from eating the same thing day after day. :-)
I’m more productive when I work with my WTK family, they motivate me to do anything (:
Use toothpaste or Milk of Magnesia for pimples or acne :)
Using an excel spreasheet to plan christmas spending and gift ideas.
isn’t winning a free phone doing more with less ? :-)
I cut holes in a box lid, for ice cream cone holder.
When I baked the cake inside of them…. Actually did mini mini cupcakes separate and filled cones with mini m & m’s. It was a fun surprise for 3 year olds. :)
I adjusted some parts in my laptop so that I would be able to use it as a television as well as a computer and portable music player
I always save the boxes and packing we get things in at home and take them to work to be re-used.
We also dug up 63 baby bluebonnets -with pemission of course, from an area that was going to be sprayed with herbicide and saved them for ours, our friends and our neighbors yards. Two years ago we saved some iris corms from the same fate and we and our friends and neighbors e-mail pics every year on our iris blooms- our iris buddies will now be bluebonnet buddies too! Save a plant and make a buddy!
I have found I can do get more completed at work when I have fewer people that are passionate and great at what they do.
As a college student I have learned to conserve gas and money for food by walking everywhere. This also helps build muscle which allows me to make less trips out to the car so I can get home earlier and do more with my weekend! :D
As a college student I have started to learn how to do more with extremely less.
Time-wise, I have had to learn to cram over 60 hours of work (five classes and their required homework) as well as a normal schedule of eating and sleeping into each week, plus overflow, basically, more work, less time.
Money-wise, I have learned to budget, as a college student art supplies cost an arm and a leg, and then I have to use my remaining arm and leg to buy food for the week. 30 dollars of food in a cafeteria where everyting seems to cost around 4 dollars a meal.
I updated to Snow Leopard; more features, takes up less memory :)
My cell phone serves () purposes: recipe book, cooking timer, camera, radio, music player (you need music in the kitchen), shopping list, nutrition consultant, baby toy, and phone when emergencies arise.
I’ve just found logging out of facebook makes me super productive.
I use duct tape for every possible situation. If something is broken? Duct tape will fix it. If someone won’t shut up? Duct tape. :) the uses are endless!
Not sleeping. Listening to music while doing anything.
I’m most productive when i get away from my house and free myself of distractions…Thats when i get the most studying done for my college courses…Also i tend to use my ID cards as a ruler..lol go figure
I have cut back on my blog reading and have only kept a few of my favorites (including you, of course!) I realized that reading so many blogs only created more projects on my to-do list that I would never get to in this lifetime. Now, I just keep it simple.
Q-Tips! It’s incredible how many uses there are for them!
Eating breakfast during my morning commute rather than eating at home then leaving for school.
Oh my goodness!!! I definetely could use something as nifty as that! Bakerella, do you think you could do a giveaway for one? :) Pretty Please? :D
I have a rice cooker that also allows anything to be steamed on a separate dish above. I make rice and veggies at the same time and just serve directly out of the cooker. Saves dishes to wash and i know i can get 2 dishes done in one sitting.
I don’t know if it makes me more productive, but I discovered the stir thing we got for mixing formula in bottles works great for stirring hot chocolate. Everything is fuly mixed, no chocolate sludge in the bottom of the cup. MiniBubbles hasn’t had formula in a year and a half, but that little stirrer is still in my kitchen drawer.
I save all the magnetic business card and calendars that are sent to me or that I pick up at trade shows. Then I tape my family pictures on them to display on the fridge!
Couponing websites is how I do more with less for the holidays. It’s amazing what you can get for free o really cheap!
I have to say I love the spoon holder that you clip onto your pan. I just love that thing
Not THE most original but even Wal-Mart doesn’t have THE cheapest prices so I sometimes switch it up and use dollar store and dollar general supplies for baking/ingredients
Oh my gosh! Saw your book on a website and bought the book immediately! The next day my 3-year old daughter and I made cake pops instead of boring cookies for her Thanksgiving feast. It was a hit! We can’t wait to make more! Thanks for sharing all your ideas! :)
I had a carrier – flat and wide with a handle – OK, you could fit a lot of cupcakes, downside, if you didn’t fill, cupcakes would slide and fall over – you had to handle with care. But the day I needed it, 100+ cupcakes for daughter’s party, I could not find it…black hole?. Anyway, I used a storage container which has 4 boxes that stacked, lock and then had a top with handle. Each box held about 14 cupcakes. It was great. It reminds me of this giveaway. Thanks.
Instead of throwing out my baby’s yogurt and apple sauce containers that aren’t recycled lcoally I wash them and give them to my Mom, an elementary school teacher, to use for painting and crafts with the kids!
I love my food processor! I never thought I needed one, but now that I have it–I LOVE IT!!!
How to do more with less – Grate your own cheese! A block may be more expensive than the already shredded bag, but you’ll get so much more cheese out of that one block than you will the one bag! Try it!
My whole life is about doing more with less! This time of year my biggest tip is rewards. My debit card, grocery store, the training pants my kid has to wear, they all have rewards points and although it’s a pain and doesn’t add up to much in the beginning I have gotten a $25 giftcard to GameStop to help pay for the Wii game on my daughter’s list, a free Melissa & Doug wooden puzzle for my nephew, and free photo Christmas cards for my nearest and dearest family just by taking a few minutes to type in a code on a website.
Crock pot cooking frees up so much time in the kitchen in the middle of weekday craziness. Love my crock pot!
I use a tackle box to hold all my cake decorating supplies. It had the perfect spots to keep the tips, colorings and bags. Keeps me more organized, and was much cheaper than an “official” cake supply box.
I’ve found random recyclables around the house to use for crafts with my daughter, like empty toilet paper and paper towel roll holders, egg cartons, wrapping paper scraps, shoe boxes, etc.
I like to plan my meals the month ahead, so when Monday rolls around, you are set! It is also so much easier to make a double batch. You are already cooking, then you have another meal all done.
Lists area also a BIG help. ;) Great give away.
I like to get my exercising in early enough that I don’t have to worry about it the rest of the day and that way I don’t stay out of the shower waiting to exercise.
I have recently found out you can use your mini muffin tin as an advent calendar. The 24 spots are perfect for the Christmas countdown. You decorate 24 flat square magnets and place them over each muffin hole. You can even add a treat behind each magnet.
I use my toast tongs to fish out tea bags that don’t come with a string (or when the ones with the string decide to be difficult and the string falls in). Works great and you don’t lose a bunch of liquid like when you use a spoon.
I could use less of old tupperware lids that don’t have a container to pair with!
limiting my time on the computer, there are so many blogs you can follow and waste alot of time on the computer and let your house work go.
I use my cookie cutters for diferent shapes
I like to pile my clothes on the chair in my bedroom instead of actually using it to sit in! Sometimes it holds a whole week’s worth. As the mom of three boys under four, I’m lucky I don’t collapse into bed still fully dressed at the end of the day. Putting them away is out of the question! :)
I decorate used egg cartons at Christmas to put my homemade Chocolate covered cherries and Buckeye candy as gifts….
shop on Saturday’s cook on Sunday’s freezer food all during the week! :)
A baking related idea: When I’m baking for a party or for a friend, I like to double the recipe and freeze half for myself. Especially when it comes to quick breads – I slice and freeze them, and I can take out one piece at a time for breakfast all week!
