  1. I just took my lab puppy swimming for the first time in a friend’s pool. She was adorable, splashing around as she tried to figure it out!

  2. Fun thing I did this summer: spent oodles of time with my children while they discovered the world around them. Life is great with an 8, 4 and 11month old!

  3. I don’t if it is really interesting but I have spent some time traveling with my dad to museums in Ohio.

  50. I went to the Smoky Mountains and jumped at the Sinks. A 15′ + high cliff to freezing water. Too chicken to do it two years ago. Brave and exhilarating.

Bringing him to the beach was first to escape the heat of the summer, but when I realized how much he loved it we turned it into a three times a week event :) Ice cream is also a great way to beat the heat this summer :) thanks for the opportunity to win this machine, Bakerella!!!!

  62. We went to San Diego to greet our son’s ship returning from his first deployment overseas. We went to the San Diego zoo, Sea World, the Wildlife Park and ate at some incredible restaurants. Because we missed his birthday, we had a special meal at Sullivan’s steakhouse and at our son’s seat they put a brass nameplate that said “Our Hero”. So very classy!

  63. this has not been a really fun summer. I had shoulder surgery and have been hanging out at home, reading blogs, watching movies sitting in the sun…..
    Actually, that all sounds better than it really is! I am so bored!

  65. My 2 year old and I are making her first batch of cookies right now! She’s learning to cook!

  66. Ice cream is my favorite food. Sometimes, I eat it for dinner! Once, my ganddaughter told her mom, “Mamasita let me have ice cream and pretzels for dinner!” We had a great family vacation at my parents house in Pensacola over the 4th of July. Both of my mom’s kids (one is me), 3 of the 6 grandkids, 1 great-grandkid and some friends went down there. We had all the beds full plus 3 blow-up beds. Wall-to-wall people. It was a very exciting time for everyone! We had ice cream every night for late night snack!

  69. I think the most fun thing I’ve done so far this summer is take my 13yo niece on a photo walk. She’d never worked with a dSLR, so we took our time, went for a walk and she absolutely loved it.

  73. We went camping to celebrate my uncle’s 70th Birthday. The whole family came and it was a blast!

  74. I planned a trip to St. Augustine, FL for me and my boyfriend over the Memorial Day weekend. We visited the St. Augustine Lighthouse first thing when we got into town, and it was amazing! When we got to the hotel, we found out my reservation had been messed up and there were no rooms available for the weekend. I broke down crying, thinking our special weekend was ruined. But my boyfriend said, “Let’s go to Savannah!” We started calling hotels all over Savannah, GA, and found a great one not far from the Historic Downtown area. We spent the next two days exploring the historic district, trying new foods, and just marveling at all the wonderful stories of this beautiful town! The weather was perfect for us, and it turned out to be a wonderful weekend that I will not soon forget! And we can’t wait to go back either!! :-)

    We went camping in beautiful Big Sur CA this summer and the weather was amazing! We stayed in a cabin overlooking the ocean and if we had this ice-cream machine, we would’ve made some homemade ice-cream! If I win, I’ll be concocting my own ice-creams and forever seal in my families hearts, the love of fresh ice-cream!

  82. I’ve learned how to make the best Iced Coffee Smoothie with my new ice crushing blender! Imagine how good a milk shake would taste with home made ice cream!!!

  113. This summer my husband and I have started driving more..it’s random..just for the heck of it, get in the Jeep and drive more than we have to. For the fun of it, for the thrill…it sounds weird but we have enjoyed it. We don’t go to the theater or eat out really so the gas isn’t “wasted” it’s our treat. Driving under the stars, taking turns at the wheel…just because.

  117. I took a car trip with my two kids and my mom from Arizona to Kansas to see my dad, sister, and brother. Boy was it a long drive! But we had so much fun out there, my kids didn’t want to come back! Not to mention teaching my nephews some new recipes (including the homemade strawberry ice cream!). We made some great memories!

  124. This summer my father and I built a small 4′ by 3′ wooden raft. We live right near a river so we all hopped on and paddled our way 3 miles down the river. Unfortunately we were sun burnt by the time we got back.

  125. I got to spend a fun filled weekend with with family and friends going to see two of my favorite bands. What’s even better was that both tickets combined were under $50!

  126. I slept until 1PM on Saturday. It was glorious. Fun for grown-ups!

  128. This summer I’ve simply made the time to spend time with my littles doing things like family game night for a week or swimming. It’s been the best summer on record for us all!

  129. Took my 6 year old son to Krispy Kreme donuts, let him pick out 2, then took them home and hung them by a string. We tied our hands behind our back and ourselves a little donut eating contest. He definitely won! Hey, cheap thrills, right?

  130. I’ve mostly been working this summer, but I finally got to go down the shore the other day and it was wonderful.

  131. My husband transitioned from one job that ended in May to a new job that started in July. We had the whole month of June to act like kids again. The entire month was totally awesome.

  136. I made Pirate cakepops with my 3 year old niece (for her 3 year old Pirate themed birthday party). I let her dip all the red scarves and put the white sugar dots on. She loved it and they were a huge hit with the kids. Now every weekend she wants to bake something. Really she wants me to bake so she can decorate which is always fun. I really let her do whatver she wants! It’s all about the quality time together :) Ice cream would be another great add to our play dates….

  137. Spending special time with my step daughter. We live in CA and she lives in TX. Since our move to the west coast seeing her is a challenge so when we do we love every second of our time with her.

  170. I have just sent off my brother and his wife on their honeymoon at the beach. We gave them the trip as a wedding gift, and they had to visit several family members to get directions. I was the last one and “saw them off” to the hotel via phone. They are super excited and very happy!

  173. Waking up as early as 4am to take an hour ride to the beach was a bit early, but being there with my hunny and going crabbing was tons of fun!!! We were at one of the worst destroyed places on the Jersey Shore, but it was great to see the beauty being restored and how it’s not stopping people from smiling and keeping to their annual traditions. Crabbing is our tradition.

After 44 years of avoiding lakes because of the mud on the bottom, I broke down and bought a pair of water shoes and a pool noodle with an alligator head and tail and have learned to love the lake. Kevin (my gator pool noodle) and I plan to spend many happy weekends floating together with our friends. This summer has actually felt like a real summer, not just a hotter regular work week.
