Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.
They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.
In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.
I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.
Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.
Lovely macarons.
Panna Cotta and Pots de Creme.
Little cakes.
Lots of little cakes. Miette is known for their sweets of smaller scale.
These are all 6 inch cakes which makes them even more charming.
And check out their cupcakes. Beautiful!
Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.
Pretty awesome.
And pretty cute. I love the scalloped pages.
It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.
See. Same cupcakes.
But that’s not all.
Marshmallows. I must make some soon.
Crackers and cookies.
Tarts and tartlettes. I just want to sink my teeth right in. Forget the fork.
Caramels.
And cakes.
I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.
And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.
Here’s the Tomboy Cake Recipe straight from the book, courtesy of my and Miette’s publisher, Chronicle Books.
But that’s not all.
This book is just so cute that I thought I’d give you guys a chance to win a copy.
And because most people don’t already own 6 X 3 inch pans, I’m giving away two straight and two contour pans so you can make all the little Miette cakes you want. I’m also including some tartlet pans in case you don’t have any of those handy either.
To enter for a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post and answer the following question.
- What was the last cookbook you acquired or what is the next cookbook you can’t wait to get your hands on?
- Deadline to enter is Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00 pm ET. Sorry, time’s up. Winner announced below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening.
Good Luck!
Giveaway sponsored by me.

However the book I have been *dying* to get my hands on is Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I absolutely love Julia Child, my dad and I used to watch her together when I was younger. As for the last cookbook I got– technically the last one I got was “Paris Patisseries” by Pierre Herme. But I didn’t realize it was a cookbook (there are a few recipes in the back) until later. So, for me, the last cookbook I got was David Lebovitz’s book, “Ready for Dessert,” which I got when I met him at a book signing in Paris last December. Tres awesome, no?

Pioneer Woman Cooks! Got it, LOVE IT!
I’m lucky to have a cookbook printer in town, so I LOVE to go buy the cookbooks that churches/groups put together for local sales. Love the “home” cooking recipes and great pot-luck dishes. So much fun! And now, after seeing this Miette cookbook… I NEED it! :)

I passed Miette in the Ferry Building when I visited San Francisco in May, but it was so busy I didn’t venture in – I wish I had!
All of my cookbooks are packed up in a box in NZ (home) – I’ve not bought a cookbook in over a year. My next purchase is going to be ‘For the Love of Salad’ by Jeanelle Mitchell (although I’ll probably need to purchase a baking book after that to balance things out!)
The Fiddlehead Cookbook. A local alaskan bakery’s book. So far so good!
The last cookbook I actually got was the one my cousin bought me. It was your cake pop book!! I wanted it so badly but with the bad economy couldnt afford it. It totally made my day!

The last cookbook i received was “125 Best Cupcake Recipes” by Julie Hasson, which came in handy for my niece’s 9th birthday party last year. Believe it or not it was Bakerella’s cakepops book
The last cookbook I bought was Indian cuisine, because my boyfriend is Indian and I wanted to give him a taste of home. :) And I can’t wait to buy Zoe Clark’s new cake decorating book!
The last cookbook I bought was actually Pioneer Woman’s, and I have used it so much it is starting to fall apart. But it is a fantastic cookbook! I was actually planning on my next cookbook to be a baking book because that is what I love to do. I would love to win this! We are almost 34 weeks along with twin boys and I know I won’t have much time to bake, but I will need some mommy “get away” time and baking would be the perfect escape!

I’m not sure of the exact title because it’s in the kitchen and I’m in bed. But recently I was in the Great Smoky Mountains so I bought a regional cookbook. Every time I travel, I look for a unique cookbook that reflects the place I’m visiting. At the rate I’m going I either need to stop traveling or get a bookcase for my kitchen. :)
I think my last one was The Pioneer’s Woman’s also. LOVE that book! I’m hoping my next one will be Cake Pops!
The last cookbook I got was from the California Strawberry Commission and it has the most amazing savory strawberry recipes! Delish!
I most recently bought a vintage seventies jams and jellies cookbook and I’d really like to get Pioneer Woman’s cookbook, but considering my usual buying method is $3 thrift/used book store cookbooks it’s hard for me to get past the $20 price tag. I’m sure some day soon i’ll pick it up, though :)
Martha’s cupcake cookbook is the last one to come to my home. The next one? Maybe this one!
The most recent cookbook I purchased was “flour” by Joanne Chang. I’ve pretty much slobbered over all the pages. More sincerely though, I really want to visit her bakery in Boston one day and hope to meet her in person. Reading about how she followed her passion for sweets totally made my eyes light up and ultimately made me realize that I needed to follow the only thing that had the power to make my eyes light up like that – baking!

I’m looking forward to getting my hands on some cookbooks featuring recipes for smaller meals – my boyfriend and I don’t cook as much as I’d like because he generally doesn’t enjoy leftovers. Smaller portioned recipes means more home cooking! :)
