Miette

IMG_8411

Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.

They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.

IMG_8390

In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.

IMG_8401

I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.

IMG_8320

Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.

IMG_8328

Lovely macarons.

IMG_8327

Panna Cotta and Pots de Creme.

IMG_8410

Little cakes.

IMG_8326

Lots of little cakes. Miette is known for their sweets of smaller scale.

These are all 6 inch cakes which makes them even more charming.

IMG_8395

And check out their cupcakes. Beautiful!

IMG_84111

Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.

Pretty awesome.

IMG_83901

And pretty cute. I love the scalloped pages.

IMG_8395

It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.

IMG_84011

See. Same cupcakes.

But that’s not all.

IMG_8402

Marshmallows. I must make some soon.

IMG_8393

Crackers and cookies.

IMG_8398

Tarts and tartlettes. I just want to sink my teeth right in. Forget the fork.

IMG_8404

Caramels.

And cakes.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.

And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.

Here’s the Tomboy Cake Recipe straight from the book, courtesy of my and Miette’s publisher, Chronicle Books.

But that’s not all.

IMG_8380

This book is just so cute that I thought I’d give you guys a chance to win a copy.

And because most people don’t already own 6 X 3 inch pans, I’m giving away two straight and two contour pans so you can make all the little Miette cakes you want. I’m also including some tartlet pans in case you don’t have any of those handy either.

To enter for a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post and answer the following question.

  • What was the last cookbook you acquired or what is the next cookbook you can’t wait to get your hands on?
  • Deadline to enter is Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00 pm ET. Sorry, time’s up. Winner announced below.
  • One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening.

Good Luck!

Giveaway sponsored by me.

Okay, time to announce the winner of this cute little cookbook and petite pans.

  184. It has been so long since I have gotten a new cookbook, but I would like more baking cookbooks. I am a caregiver for my mother who has Alzheimer’s and I bake on my free time because it is my zen time. Friends and family purchase my baked goods which gives me extra spending money to do fun things with my family. So baking is a win win situation for me. Any new baking cookbooks would be very helpful.

  185. I haven’t gotten a cook book in years because I travel so much and try to keep everything on line, but I really want this one! It’d be worth toting around for sure

  191. The last cookbook I bought was Pies and Tarts by Martha Stewart…. great ideas! Thanks!

  192. I went to New York this spring, for the first time. My mother purchased her treasured copy of “The Joy of Cooking” thirty years ago, on her first visit to the Big Apple. She suggested that I do the same, since I love cooking and baking just as much as she does, and because “the Joy of Cooking” has taught her so much over the years. So I purchased my very own first copy this spring, from a bookstore right on Fifth Avenue, in the hopes that its pages will one day be filled with all the same scribbles, sticky notes and stars that my mother’s is filled with, and that one day, I can pass along this tradition to my own daughter.

  193. I recently bouth Pioneer Woman’s Cookbook…LOVE IT!! I would also want to give a copy of Cake Pops to my daughter!

  194. The last cookbook I got was Cake Pops! My next cookbook will be … I don’t know yet!

  197. The last cookbook I received included a sampling of Asian cooking from about 10-12 different countries. It was a gift along with a wok.

  198. the last cookbook i acquired was one that i helped put together with some friends–now we all have a copy and it’s so fun to have a copy of 300 favorite recipes from people i know and love!

  200. The last cookbook I received was more for my husband- it was a charcuterie book. :( I would absolutely LOVE to get my hands on the Miette one, though. I am afraid it will cause me to quit my job and start a bakery!
