Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.
They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.
In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.
I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.
Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.

Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.
Pretty awesome.
And pretty cute. I love the scalloped pages.
It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.
And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.

The last cookbook I obtained is the one that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Lebanon Lutheran Church in Amidon, ND. I really love church cookbooks because you find the best tried and true recipes from little old ladies in them. I am considering the purchasing the one from the Lutheran church in Leeds, ND next.

The last cookbook I bought was one called “Yummy Cookies: Baking with Kids.” I loved it! The ideas were so creative and the pages of the book were hardbound cardboard like in a children’s book, so if something gets spilled on a page, it’s easy to wipe off! And it makes me feel like a kid again when i bake! :)

The last cookbook to get added to my collection was the Goodhouse Keeping cookbook! My Nana cooked out of it all the time, so my mom found me my own copy, and transferred all the notes that my Nana had written in her copy, to mine. It’s pretty much priceless to me! We just finished cleaning out my Mother’s house. Unfortunately she had to move into an assisted living facility. We’re in the process of dividing her cookbooks and recipes between my sister and I. It’s so hard to do! I know we can make copies of everything, but we each want the originals of ones that have turned yellow and have the food smudges all over! Those are the favorites!

The 1961 edition of Julia Child’s “The Art of French Cooking” at a garage sale for $2 – evidently they were not big on cooking.

Hopefully this counts.. the last “cookbook” I acquired was my grandmothers recipe card book that was in some of her things. The good times we had baking together came flooding back. She used to make a special cookie that no one in the family had the recipe for…till now. I am however ALWAYS on the lookout for a good cook book!!

last one i bought was the bakerella cakepop book and i bought two one for me and one for my kids babysitter.
It was actually The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook. It was in my stocking at Christmas…it’s a travesty that my last cookbook acquisition was that long ago. Still, I can’t seem to stop reading it as if something new is going to appear.
I got Alton Brown’s cookbook, and love it. I want his other one next….

I last cookbook I acquired was “Cake Pops: Tips, Tricks, and Recipes for More Than 40 Irresistible Mini Treats” by you and I love it! I can’t wait to get my hands on this cookbook, my husband is from San Francisco and I look forward to trying this bakery out next time we go visit his family!

The last cookbook I got is Top Secret Restaurant Recipes 3, which is amazing and lots of fun to try to recreate yummy recipes. The next one on my list is definitely a cupcake “bakebook”!

Last cookbook I got was, let me see, I think it was the 1958 vs of the Betty Crocker Cookbook. It was my grandmothers and I “5 finger discounted” it out of my sisters garage. Hey! Her idea of scratch cooking is opening a box of Hamburger Helper and switching the hamburger for ground turkey.

I’m not sure if my monthly subscription to Bon Appetite Magazine would count but on the otherhand I did spot a cookbook called Microwave Cooking: Cakes & Desserts that caught my eye. My laziness seems to be going to the extreme!! :)
