Miette

IMG_8411

Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.

They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.

IMG_8390

In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.

IMG_8401

I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.

IMG_8320

Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.

IMG_8328

Lovely macarons.

IMG_8327

Panna Cotta and Pots de Creme.

IMG_8410

Little cakes.

IMG_8326

Lots of little cakes. Miette is known for their sweets of smaller scale.

These are all 6 inch cakes which makes them even more charming.

IMG_8395

And check out their cupcakes. Beautiful!

IMG_84111

Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.

Pretty awesome.

IMG_83901

And pretty cute. I love the scalloped pages.

IMG_8395

It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.

IMG_84011

See. Same cupcakes.

But that’s not all.

IMG_8402

Marshmallows. I must make some soon.

IMG_8393

Crackers and cookies.

IMG_8398

Tarts and tartlettes. I just want to sink my teeth right in. Forget the fork.

IMG_8404

Caramels.

And cakes.

I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.

And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.

Here’s the Tomboy Cake Recipe straight from the book, courtesy of my and Miette’s publisher, Chronicle Books.

But that’s not all.

IMG_8380

This book is just so cute that I thought I’d give you guys a chance to win a copy.

And because most people don’t already own 6 X 3 inch pans, I’m giving away two straight and two contour pans so you can make all the little Miette cakes you want. I’m also including some tartlet pans in case you don’t have any of those handy either.

To enter for a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post and answer the following question.

  • What was the last cookbook you acquired or what is the next cookbook you can’t wait to get your hands on?
  • Deadline to enter is Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00 pm ET. Sorry, time’s up. Winner announced below.
  • One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening.

Good Luck!

Giveaway sponsored by me.

Okay, time to announce the winner of this cute little cookbook and petite pans.

The winner is comment #2636

  1. I recently hit a used cookbook jackpot at my library’s little used book store. I nabbed a Best of Cooking Light cookbook, Food & Wines Annual cookbook from 2009 and the Allrecipes.com cookbook. Each had an original price of around $30, and only cost $1.50! Plus, they look brand new. It’s not everyday I find $90 worth of cookbooks for $4.50!

I’m dying to get my hands on this cookbook, and the Cake Pops book!

  193. The last cookbook I bought was a homemade family cookbook. Great recipes tried and true.

  194. Sadly, I have been a very broke individual for the last few years and all my extra money goes to dog-related things or bills, so I don’t acquire cookbooks — or any books for that matter — very often. I splurged just recently on “How to Break an Egg: 1,453 Kitchen Tips, Food Fixes, Emergency Substitutions, and Handy Techniques” because I couldn’t scribble down enough helpful hints at the bookstore without getting glared at by employees and it was just a fantastic read with a lot of information I didn’t know.

I literally spend hours sitting on the floor at Barnes & Noble looking at every cookbook I can get my hands on. I don’t keep tabs on so-and-so’s upcoming new book, but I look forward to working on my baking cookbooks the next time I’ve got a little cash to spend on something other than bills and rent.

  195. The last cookbook I got was a huge dessert encyclopedia from Better Homes and Gardens (I think). It’s huge!

  196. I picked up a copy of Cooks Country (one for me and one for a gift). I want almost anything I see, but I am trying to control myself and use the ones that I have more. I just moved and found some I ‘forgot’ about. I also have a new grill so the grilling around the world book is looking forward to some new use related spots!

  197. The last cookbook I received was during Christmas and my husband and brother-in-law both got me Baked Explorations and Nigella Express.

  198. Martha Stewart Cupcakes is the most recently aquired cookbook.

The next cookbook I would like to get is the Magnolia Bakery cookbook.

I do have your Cakepops cookbook – love it !!!!! =0)

Thank you for the chance to win

  199. The last cookbook I was given was a book dedicated to grilled pizza! I don’t buy cookbooks often, but this one looks divine! Love the scalloped edges.
