Last fall during the book tour, I visited a bunch of cupcake bakeries and sweet shops in just about every city I passed through. Miette was one of my favorites in San Francisco. If you get a chance, make sure to give them a visit.
They have two locations. One in the Ferry Building and one on Octavia Street. They also have one in Oakland and another opening later this year in Larkspur, California.
In San Francisco, the one on Octavia Street is bigger than the Ferry building location, but both are just as cute as can be.
I loved the colors and the display of sweets. So did Julie.
Everywhere you turn are the cutest treats with adorable packaging.
Lovely macarons.
Panna Cotta and Pots de Creme.
Little cakes.
Lots of little cakes. Miette is known for their sweets of smaller scale.
These are all 6 inch cakes which makes them even more charming.
And check out their cupcakes. Beautiful!
Miette recently released a cookbook filled with recipes of their signature sweets.
Pretty awesome.
And pretty cute. I love the scalloped pages.
It ties in beautifully with the shop accents.
See. Same cupcakes.
But that’s not all.
Marshmallows. I must make some soon.
Crackers and cookies.
Tarts and tartlettes. I just want to sink my teeth right in. Forget the fork.
Caramels.
And cakes.
I made the Tomboy Cake. So good. It’s made with chocolate and cocoa.
And I must say, it feels good to feel like baking again.
Here’s the Tomboy Cake Recipe straight from the book, courtesy of my and Miette’s publisher, Chronicle Books.
But that’s not all.
This book is just so cute that I thought I’d give you guys a chance to win a copy.
And because most people don’t already own 6 X 3 inch pans, I’m giving away two straight and two contour pans so you can make all the little Miette cakes you want. I’m also including some tartlet pans in case you don’t have any of those handy either.
To enter for a chance to win, just leave a comment on this post and answer the following question.
- What was the last cookbook you acquired or what is the next cookbook you can’t wait to get your hands on?
- Deadline to enter is Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00 pm ET. Sorry, time’s up. Winner announced below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Tuesday evening.
Good Luck!
Giveaway sponsored by me.
Okay, time to announce the winner of this cute little cookbook and petite pans.
The winner is comment #2636
Congratulations Pat! And guess what. I’m going to throw in a copy of Cake Pops for you, too.

The last cookbook I received was Taste of Home: Cake Mix Creations. I love making cakes with my nieces, their face full of joy is wonderful.
The last cookbook I acquired was Martha Stewart’s cupcakes. Can’t wait to get the Miette cookbook!!!
The last cookbook I got was Great Down Home Cooking II – a cookbook by our church ladies!
The last cookbook was I received was Pioneer Woman’s cookbook. It makes my heart smile to know that you and your mother both are on the mend. My prayers continue to be with you.
The last cookbook I purchased is “Modern Hospitality”. However, the Miette cookbook will be my next – if I am not the winner! Thanks, good to have postings from you again.
The last cookbook I received was the cake pop book and the next one I want is Miette!!!!!!!!!
The last book I purchased was Cake Pops and the next book I plan on purchasing will be Cake Pops. I made Cake Pops and took them to work and one of the girls I work with took an extra one home to her teenage daughter who fell in love with them. She wants me to come help her make some and I plan on giving her one of the books when I do. You see this precious teenager is in a wheelchair and wasn’t expected to live past the age of 3 or 4 she’s now 17 and a straight A student. I think she deserves a cookbook.
Hmmm, the last cookbook I got was Alton Brown’s Good Eats Middle Years. Not sure what one I want next – I’m kind of burned out on cooking lately.
hmmm…Probably the last cookbook was a Martha Stewart cupcake/cookie book, but I did recently pick up one of your CakePop books!
Glad to see you back posting! Hope you’re feeling better!
Angela Barton
the last cookbook i bought was bakerella’s cake pops! :)
My last cookbook was EveryDay Foods, a gift for Mother’s Day a few years back. This cookbook looks like it will add inches to my waist just looking through it which is always the sign of a good cookbook.
I”m glad to hear you recovering well.
Miette looks utterly adorable!!
The last cookbook I received was a grilling cookbook from my sister. I’m hoping that someone will get me either your Cakepops cookbook or Pioneer Woman’s cookbook for Xmas this year. *fingers crossed*
The last one I bought was “Off the Beaten Path” by Morgan Murphy. I like cookbooks that have stories behind the recipes. I also recently bought your book and Ree Drummonds, “The Pioneer Woman Cooks”.
That shop is totally cute!!! The last cookbook I received was a reprinted version Betty Crocker’s Cook Book for Boys and Girls from 1957. My daughter and I love it!!! Guess I need to check out The Pioneer Woman’s Cookbook. Lots of good things said about it here. Would love to add the Miette cookbook to my collection.
About 15 yrs or so ago, Oprah had Martha Stewart on for the holidays and she shared a marshmallow recipe so I decided to try it. They were delightful! One of my friends stil mentions them!
The last book I acquired was Hello Cupcake and What’s New Cupcake by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson. The next one will be a free one out local radio station puts together from their listeners. They have the best recipes! But that Miette looks like it could be a close second!
I can’t remember the last cookbook I bought! My goal for this summer is to make new recipes every Friday and this cookbook and pans would be AWESOME! Your site has been a great help for someone that is fairly new to this style of baking – usually I just stayed with brownies or cakes from a box and nothing more :)
My husband bought me a cookie cookbook a couple of year’s ago and I love it! My family loves it as well. :)
I recently bought the Martha Stewart “Cupcakes” cookbook. I am much more of a baker than a chef.
My best friend just bought me a signed! copy of the Serendipity cookbook for my birthday. Such a great historical overview of the NYC shop as well as great recipes!
It’s sad, but since I’ve just started cooking and baking, I don’t have my own cookbook! I usually just take recipes out of magazines or blogs. If I were to buy one soon, it would probably be something general, just to get my cookbook collection started!
The last cookbook I got was Hello Cupcake!
Hiii :) The last cookbook I obtained was the Naparima Girl’s Cookbook. Its a caribbean cuisine cookbook that covers all the yummy food and sweets of the caribbean islands – namely Trinidad & Tobago!
:)
I think the most recent one was Deceptively Delicious. I LOVE it!
The last cookbook I got was the one that used to be my grandmas.
Last cookbooks I bought for me were Our Best Bites and Worldwide Ward Secret Recipes. Technically the “last” cookbook I bought was the original Cake Mix Doctor cookbook – it was a gift for a bridal shower.
Last cookbook was The Pioneer Woman Cooks. Not sure which cookbook will be next.
The last cookbook was one by Rachael Ray. The next was gonna be a Dean Bros book, but now it will be this one!
The last one I received as a gift, Pioneer Woman. Pretty good so far!
