Hi! On Christmas Eve, we used to spend it surrounded by the warmth and love of family. Three years ago, we moved 3800 miles away. The first Christmas was very hard. But we have found some fun new traditions. We live in New Mexico, so the weather is nicer (to begin with…), we put on a crock pot of posole and hot cocoa…and go for a walk down Canyon Road in Santa Fe, to see all the BEAUTIFUL farolitos lit up on the sides of the streets. Farolitos are little paper lamps. There is caroling, and lots of people. It’s a BEAUTIFUL night with great people. It’s a weird phenomenan the feeling you get spending Christmas Eve with strangers, yet they don’t FEEL like strangers!
After the walk, we come home, put on our new Christmas PJs, leave the lights on the tree this night..and head to bed!
Christmas Eve is always spent at home with my hubby and 4 boys.

But we haven’t done that lately since they are teenagers. Maybe I should do it this year–but I doubt my son would wear them!!

My parents, my 92 year young grandmother & 87 year young Grandmother in law all come over to our house for “Christmas Eve BBQ”. It’s been a tradition to have this since I was young.
Then, we head off to church for Christmas Eve service.
When we get back home and it is just my (15 year old) son & husband, we allow him to open a couple presents, one of course, being the new PJs, hang out and watch a Christmas movie.
At 10, we head off to another Christmas Eve service, lit only by candlelight. We love driving through our tiny town with it’s streets lined with luminaries all the way to the church.
On Christmas Eve, my wife and I sit by the fire with the kids and open our stockings. Think of it as an appetizer. After we have cleaned up, we enjoy homemade hot chocolate and watch our favorite Christmas movies before bed. We would love to have the book help us make special treats for our stockings for this year’s celebrations.
Celebrating the holidays as a family on Christmas Eve has been a tradition in our family as long as I can remember. We always have spaghetti with homemade sauce and all sorts of homemade treats. A favorite is my orange cranberry cookies. After we are all full to the rim we exchange gifts. Its an amazing time of the year!
Christmas Eve is spent going to church and then spending driving driving around looking at lights while listening to Christmas music! <3 We open one present before bed which always happens to be PJs!! (how convenient)

Christmas Eve: I spend it with my famhe houily, mostly at home. The Christmas spirite is all around. My mom organises big Reunions. Friends and family come over. And together we all wait till midnight in order to exchange presents. Or otherwise wait for Santa :D
Christmas Eve starts for us with dinner. It has become a tradition in the last 10 years to have pasta for that meal. After dinner we usually will put in one of our Christmas DVD’s. Once it’s over we move on to reading the Christmas Story form the Bible, the kids hang their stockings and it is off to bed. ONce the are all tucked in Dad reads them ‘The Rugrats Night Before Christmas’ in the voice of Tommy. Then it’s lights out until they wake up Christmas morning.

My mom, sister, and I always have a family meal together with our families and sometimes my brother-in-law’s family as well. We have a traditional meal that we call Macaroni, Cheese, and Meat. It’s a ground beef, onion, garlic and tomato base mixed in with elbow macaroni noodles and liberally planted with chunks of sharp cheddar cheese and topped with it as well. Then it’s baked until the cheese is all melty and browned on top. We add green beans and salad as sides. Mmm yummy yummy. We also open one gift Christmas Eve, the rest Christmas morning and then we go to my sister’s again on Christmas Day.
My favourite part of Christmas is watching all of the old Christmas specials on TV. Nothing beats a Saturday evening with Christmas specials, hot chocolate and a roaring fire!
We spend Christmas Eve at my dad’s house, then go home and have our own little Christmas with my husband, 3 year old son and dog.
Christmas Eve is always spent at my best friends house with her mom and sister. We eat dinner, unwrap presents and then watch and sing along to The Sound of Music
For me it’s gotta be hanging out with family on christmas day. We spend the morning just mom dad and sister then the afternoon the entire clan gets together for dinner.

This is my favorite time of the year!
We alternate Christmas with my family and my in-laws. The years that we are with my family, we all get together Christmas Eve and have a finger food night. The kids (my daughter and my 3 nephews) get to open their presents from my aunt and uncle and each other. Then we play games, eat a lot of desserts and just genreally have a rockin’ fun night. I love it!

My family celebrates Christmas on Christmas Eve! We eat a buffet dinner and then the kids perform the Christmas story directed by one of the 20 something young adults … then we all sing Christmas carols … then we open presents … and we end the evening with church! Christmas day everyone goes to their other family … except for the couple of us that don’t have one. We get together and go to the movies!
I can also answer my favorite part of the holiday season! I LOVE IT ALL!!!! I love that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, I love the shopping, the decorations, the commercialism and obviously the baking … I think every bit of it is great!!!

My sister and I spend a part of Christmas eve delivering food and baked goods we made with our mom to some family and friends. They tell us it’s something they look forward to each year so it has become a tradition we can’t stop. The rest of the evening is spent going to church with my family and opening presents at midnight :)
My favorite part of Christmas is cookie baking and gingerbread house decorating! I think we make on average 12 different kinds of cookies, and we spend an entire day just decorating cookies and eating way too much frosting. But it’s always so rewarding to see the fruits of our labor all packed up in my mom’s vintage Christmas tins lined with wax paper – just waiting to surprise someone with the goodies inside. :)
My favorite part of the holiday season is taking a 3 hour drive into the mountains w/my 3 boys & husband to get our Christmas tree! The anticipation & excitement of choosing our tree is built up the entire trip & when we arrive, their energy is off the charts! Sooo much fun! On the way back, we stop at a little cafe, drink hot chocolate & play in the snow…if there is some! :)
On Christmas Eve we usually have a late dinner then go to the candlelight church service.
My wife goes to church while the kids and I start the Santa cookies. Then when she gets home we watch a movie and cuddle on the couch before bed. Christmas Eve is all about family now that we have kids.
We spend Christmas Eve at church, then come home to make cookies for Santa because he likes his cookies to be really fresh. Then usually a Christmas movie and tuck the kids into bed. Very relaxing and wonderful.

Since I’ve been a child, Christmas Eve is spent having a nice evening meal, setting up the Christmas tree and decorating the tree. We never decorate the tree before then.
Christmas eve was always at my first cousins’ house so that we wouldn’t argue about the toys on Christmas day! We were adults before we realized we could go back to visiting on Christmas day. =)

I usually spend Christmas Eve Wrapping Presents (after the kids have gone to bed) … eye-ing the cookies and milk the kids leave out for Santa and baking of course!
Every year for the past 31 years (I’m 31) our entire family… aunts, uncles, cousins etc. (usually around 30 of us) gather at Grandmas house for a huge feast, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, anything you can think of (cakepops have become a new favorite in my family ;). After dinner we open presents and with the growing of our family the presents take up about half of the family room lol! Then it’s coffee, juice and dessert time! My grandfather passed about 8 years ago and since then me, my husband, and our daughter spend the night at grandmas so she can watch her great granddaughter open presents from Santa in the morning, I couldn’t bear the thought of my grandma being alone Christmas morning!
So excited for the holidays! Our Christmas Eve tradition is to drive around the nearest “fancy” neighborhood and look at their lights. We also have lasagne and homemade sugar or gingerbread cookies that we’ve made earlier in the day. Then the kids get to open 1 present which is always PJ’s. Fun!

With all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, Christmas Eve is actually our quiet night. It’s spent baking the last of our Christmas desserts, watching movies by the fireplace with a cup of cheer and just relaxing and basking in the holiday spirit and glow of the Christmas tree…knowing that the next day will be busy from morning until night, it’s actually one of my favourite calm nights of the year.
This is the first Christmas I am spending away from home, but at least it is in New York City! I love the lights, sounds, smells, and joy of Christmas.
And my niece would love the Cake Pops toy :)
My favorite part of Christmas is making lots of goodies to give as gifts to my neighbors and my husbands co-workers. This year my daughter, grandchildren and I will be baking lots of memories together. What more could a Nana ask for!!
We spend Christmas Eve with my entire family- aunts, uncles cousins. Food, fun & presents.
We spend Christmas Eve with family. First there is a special meal, then a reading of the nativity story and my granddaughters set up their nativity scene. Next they open a special package and find their new Christmas pjs. Then it is time to set out cookies and milk for Santa and go outside and sprinkle Magic Reindeer Food on the front yard so that Rudolph can lead Santa’s sleigh to their house. It is such a joy to to see my grands learning the true meaning of Christmas and also share their excitement about Santa.
Our favorite part of the holiday season is planning the meals, desserts, and edible gifts we are going to give to friends, family, and office and church gatherings. With the economy the way it is, we find great joy in preparing these fun and delicious treats as gifts. Last year was our first time making cake pops and the time we spent together in the kitchen was the best gift I could have received from my daughter and granddaughter. We have begun the planning and are itching to get started on the new creations for this year’s gift-giving.

my favourite part is actually christmas eve! it has always been a small and quite family gathering, roasting chestnuts in the fireplace, eating dried plums(can’t have a christmas eve without my dried plums) plus some traditional christmas desserts of my country and listening to the nutcracker suite. the grandpas will say some old stories, i’ll try to take a photo of all the family, it’s actually pretty cute…oh, i can’t wait for christmas eve!

We get to open one present every year, usually pajamas, on Christmas Eve. We spend it with family and adoring each other and it’s great.
This year is going to be tough though, I had a pretty major breakup and my kids are split between the two houses and I have no family other than my kids now. I’m hoping I can figure something else exciting out!
I love Christmas Season! I begin to enjoy it making some felt handcrafts for my home in September every year. I try to dress the Christmas tree every year different. This will be full of felt donuts and pastel ornaments. My husband and I begin to decorate our home at December 1st. I usually cook a sweet fruit beverage (in Mexico we called it “ponche”). We love to drink this sweet hot “ponche” when decorating this day at night.
We use an advent calendar and everyday one of us discover the new day of December.
Two days before Christmas Eve we cook the dinner and bake a cake, some butter cookies and this year we will try to make some cake pops too! At Christmas Eve we usually watch a movie or a TV program of Christ birthday, then we dinner together and ask a little favor or present to the new born baby.
My favorite part of the holidays is a tradition we started when my 30-year-old daughter was about five; we spend an entire day baking cookies together as gifts to friends. After she married, we’d devote one day the second week of December to bake. When her boys came along, she’d bring them and plop their infant seats up in a chair so they could watch. They’re six and three now, and they’ve started helping, too!

We always spend Christmas Eve at Grandma’s. She has hosted a Christmas Eve party every year. Then I am up doing last minute wrapping.
As far back as my memory allows, my favorite part of Christmas Eve is when my sisters and I write our letter to Santa. Of course, as we’ve gotten older and moved apart, this practice has become more and more difficult, but thankfully Skype and Google hangout and cell phones have allowed us to reconnect on Christmas Eve to write a ridiculously long, heartfelt, often goofy letter to Santa, which chronicles the past year: our accomplishments, our changes, our future plans, and our last minute Christmas wishes. The best part about the letter? On Christmas morning, there’s always a response from the big guy (thanks, Dad!).
Christmas is spent at my Mom’s house with my 3 sisters and my brother, their husbands/wife, all the 9 grandkids and their spouses and hoping that all 21 great grandkids get to share Christmas dinner with us. It’s a BIG dinner in a small house.

We always have our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, and everyone gets to open all their presents under the tree from family members. Santa leaves new presents the next morning and we have Christmas breakfast and open those.
On Christmas Eve, we always open one gift…. (it’s always new pajamas)… and watch “Elf”. Love, love, love that!

Christmas Eve has always been a big deal at my house and has been a tradition since I was a little girl. My mom puts on a HUGE production for the entire family, not leaving out a single detail… down to the customized printed menu!
On Christmas Eve we have our big family dinner (I don’t want to cook on Christmas). Then we drive around town to see the lights or luminaria’s when we lived in New Mexico.
We usually make mexican food, open one present (pjs), read The Night Before Christmas and the Birth of Jesus, get goodies out for Santa and try to sleep. It is always a great evening
We have an awesome Xmas Eve tradition, where we gather with friends and family, and have a mexican night, full of tacos and margaritas, (and of course a competitive game night of Wii “Just Dance!”)
Christmas Eve is spent with my daughter’s family. There are still young children in the home, so the thrill and excitement is so electrifying. A terrific time, indeed.

My favorite part of Christmas is spending so much time with my amazing family and friends. I also love decorating for christmas, christmas crafting and baking. Christmas eve is spent wrapping up loose ends, literally and figuratively. Then my family goes to see a movie and out to eat! Once home my boys get to open 1 Christmas present(always news pj’s), leave Santa and reindeer their treats, read “Night before Christmas”, and off to bed!
On Christmas Eve, we always enjoy a fun Christmas party with a ton of our friends from church and then we all head to church for the 11:00 candlelit service. It truly makes Christmas special!

All of our daughters were all adopted from Russian orphanages, so this is a wonderful, warm family time for them.

I love Christmas Eve, we get to eat all kinds of delicious foods slowly from 9pm until midnight. Just after midnight we open the presents. [I made my first cake pops last Friday, THANK YOU! I had lots of fun making them and my entire family loved them!)
My Favorite part of the Holiday is staying up late at night baking and cooking with my mum! I love to see all of my family and friends come together to enjoy a great meal and great company. It really warms my soul watching everyone eat our meals with such delight. Holidays help me to appreciate and remember that the most important things in life are family.

Christmas Eve is usually spent with just me and my husband together. We each get one gift to open, promising to leave the rest until Christmas morning. It usually then turns into a “just one more” event until everything is opened and we play with / try on / drool over our new stuff!
We spend Christmas eve at home with the whole family, have Christmas dinner, we have piñata for the kids and we open presents. Mexican style :)
We always spend Christmas Eve with my in-laws. This year will be special because we adopted a daughter from China this summer, so it will be her first Christmas experience!

Every other year we spend it driving the 200 miles to Grandma and Grandpa’s house where we put a few special ornaments on the tree and do some last minute baking. Then we tuck in the kiddos and the adults play games.

My brother, sister and our families spend the night at my parents and have tamales and jalapeno cheese pie, followed up by a game of Chicken Foot.
Every Christmas Eve my family gathers at my moms house for our typical ”Noche Buena” cuban feast. Than we hang out until midnight when we all gather around the christmas tree and open gifts!!! Wouldn’t have it any other way : )

My favorite part of Christmas is Christmas morning when all the family, neighbors, and friends all come to my parents house where my dad makes made to order omelets. Everyone just hangs out, chats, eats a yummy breakfast and enjoys the day. It’s not about gifts, or running around to see everyone, it’s just a nice relaxing morning with everyone you enjoy.

Christmas Eve is a big Hispanic holiday, so we always roast a pig and eat our little hearts out.

I love the holiday season… Preparing cookies to put on the tree, to offer my collegues and fruits jam for my relatives… But Christmas Eve is all Family. In Portugal we start preparing the Christmas dinner in the morning of Christmas Eve. We prepare the cabbage, the carrots, the potatoes and the cod. In my family, (the core is made of 26 people), we alternate houses each year, we spend the afternoon taking the presents to that persons house, so the kids can’t see them. Sometime around 9pm we go to the dinner table and eat, usually until 11, 11h30. Then the kids stay in the living room while the parents and grandparents distribute the presents on each shoe. At midnight the aunts and grandparents come into the room singing christmas “carols” with stars burning. And we all go into the other room by age order, from the youngest to the eldest, to open the presents. After that is time for cookies, tea, hot chocolate and “filhoses”. I’m sying as I write this… Can’t wait…
Last year I found out what was the best part of the holidayseason: decorating the christmastree with my 2-year old son who was finally old enough to capture the whole xmastree-concept – I will never forget the look on his face when we hung the shiny balls!! And he was allowed to place the ‘piek’ (Dutch for the topornament…)

We spend holidays at home and we have usually dinner and after dinner, we go to unpacked presents. :)

Christmas Eve for me is for wrapping, cooking and getting ready for my grandchildren on Christmas. I’m single so I take that time to finish last minute things and brace myself for the next day.

My favorite part of the holiday season is our annual Hanukkah Open House. Lots of food, fun, friends and family. I can’t wait to see the book. The cake pop kit for kids is so cute. My niece and I would have so much fun using it.

I host our family Christmas Eve Party. I read a lefty righty story and we pass envelopes of money. We exchange presents and the high light of the evening is watching the children open their gifts.
I spend Christmas Eve every year with my family at a local hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. And then we open gifts with my side of the family now that we’re older. It’s not Christmas Eve without Chinese food!

Usually Christmas Eve is spent with family, eating and watching “A Christmas Story” on repeat. I wasn’t able to make it home this past Christmas, so this one is going to be especially special :)
For Christmas Eve our family all gets together (about 20+ of us) at one house where we order in food and watch White Christmas all together. My mom and her sisters always get up and sing the famous “Sisters” song – my uncle often joins in too :) Then Grandma and Grandpa would give all the grandkids a new pair of pajamas which we would change into!
My favorite part of the holiday season these days is the scent of pine. My holidays have changed a lot (in ways I both do and don’t like), but that’s a comforting constant.
We have a candlelit steak dinner with twice-baked potatoes, cheesy broccoli and rolls (27 year tradition), and then go to the Christmas Eve service. After that we come home to open pjs, Christmas books, dvds for everyone and then we open our stockings!
We spend our Christmas Eve at church singing carols and reading Jesus’ story in the Bible. Then, we come home read a kid version of the same story for my kids, have a family prayer, then open presents.
My favorite part of Christmas Eve is snuggling with my hubby, watching tv and waiting impatiently to open presents the next morning. Oh, and the yummy breakfast and dinner I have planned for Christmas Day!
My favorite part of the holidays is….baking! Every year i make dozens of treats and ship them off to friends and family near and far, it just feeds my soul to fatten others up for the holidays!
On Christmas Eve the celebration joy looks to be more intense.
When I was little I went to carol for oranges and cakes … Now it’s my turn to wait the little singers and “trade” my cakes and oranges with their childhood joy.

My favorite part of Christmas, besides watching my kids open presents, is all the homemade presents I put together for everyone on Christmas Eve. Last year I made 16 dozen cookies and 8 dozen chocolates, baking for the holidays yup getting excited for it. My 6 year-old loves to help too.
Now that the kids in my family are no longer, well, kids, Christmas Eve is a quiet affair at my house. Some years, we find ourselves making something delicious and warm to fill the bellies of carolers from our church. In recent years, we’ve had the grandparents over for a nice pot roast. :)
Since I live in Sweden our christmas starts on the 24th of December, this day, my family and I either go my grandparents on my mothers side, or my fathers side and celebrate Christmas with my grandparents and cousins.
(on my mothers side) We go there at 13.00-14.00 so that we’re able to watch “Kalle Ankas Jul” (an annual christmas-show with Donald Duck) and eat fika (it’s like a small snack, very cozy). Then there’s usually some time to spare by talking to other relatives before the christmas-dinner. After eating for a long time and talking and all (somewhere around 18.00-20.00) we move into the livingroom and open the presents. After that we basically just talk, catch up on what’s happened during the year etc. Then we all go to bed, stomachs full.
The next day we wake up, eat breakfast and then we go back home where we drop things off, maybe shower and getting ready for the next Christmas. So when we’re done (usually around 14.00-16.00) we go to my father’s parents and it’s pretty much the same procedure (minus ‘Kalle Ankas Jul’), we eat, we talk, we open presents and we talk a little more.
And uhm yeah, that’s basically how I spend my Christmas.
I usually spend the Christmas Eve with my family. One of my fave parts of the Holiday season is the food and presents. And the fact that, well, it’s a holiday.

For Christmas Eve we always go to Church in the late afternoon and then come home and enjoy a simple family dinner! Then all the kids are allowed to open one present each! We end the night with a reading of the Polar Express! Honestly, I may love Christmas Eve more than Christmas!! I just love the anticipation!
We normally spend Christmas Eve at church and a nice quite dinner at home. Since marring my husband my favorite part of the holiday season is seeing the joy he gets from decoration our house for Christmas. He has quickly become the house to see in our area.

We started a new tradtion on christmas eve last year called a night in bethlahem, we eat food that they may have eaten back when jesus was born, instead of using the electricity when it gets dark we light candles. We read the story of Jesus birth aloud and our favorite christmas stories. we love it and feel the true meaning of christmas all night!!!
Christmas Eve is always spent with my family as my dad’s birthday is December 24th. He always told us that as a child he never got much for his birthday as his family wasn’t well off, and being that it was Christmas holidays, he never really got to have birthdays. My brother and I have spent our adult years trying make up for it, with the help of my awesome mom. We order him either his favorite pizza or Chinese food and I make him a cheesecake. Such happy memories. :)
My favorite part of the season is the Chistmas Carols. Singing them brings back floods of memories!

Christmas Eve is spent between at my aunt’s house – a tradition I’ve been a part of for 25 years! But this year will be very special because my fiance and I are spending our first Christmas together in our new home! I’m excited to start creating our own Christmas Eve traditions together!
I love baking and the types of popular desserts at Christmas time. I love filling stockings with cool little trinkets and gifts. And I love making a turkey covered in bacon :)

Omg, I love this giveaway! Our Christmas Eve is spent at home with just my husband and four kids. We eat summer sausage and cheese for supper (easy clean-up, so we can get to the good stuff sooner, and the kids LOVE it, say it’s the best meal I make all year, the punks!). We take a family picture in front of the Christmas tree, and then the kids open a few gifts from Mom and Dad or from each other…usually including a quiet book or toy they can have on Christmas morning when they can’t sleep, waiting for Santa! We put out Christmas cookies and milk for Santa and usually write him a note, then to bed!
The kids sound asleep with dreams of what Christmas Day will bring.
What we do Christmas Eve all depends on my mothers work schedule, shes a nurse and works shift work. Sometimes it’s the whole supper/presents if she works the next day or if not we usually get together open a present (usually pajama’s), make tons of appy’s and play cards.
My mum, her friend, my sister and I always have lunch together on Christmas Eve in town, and then by sister and I go shopping and always each buy a new book, a magazine and some pick ‘n’ mix sweets – then that evening we eat them and read! Bit too old for it now, but it’s still one of the things I look forward to!
My favorite thing about the holiday season is all the cooking and baking. I usually make goodie bags as gifts for friends and family. Several people start asking the first part of December if I’m making goodies again this year.This year my granddaughter will be helping make cookies. Hope to pass the love of baking on to her.
We spend Christmas Eve as a family and open our gifts at midnight…. The kids stay up playing with their gifts then on Christmas we spend most of the day in our PJ’s….

My favorite part of the holidays is pretty simple – my family. I love getting together with everyone and celebrating being together, and of course eating LOTS of delicious food! We have lots of visiting to do in just a few days, but it is always one of my favorite parts of the whole year.
I love Christmas cookies….Snow balls are my favorite. All covered in coconut and frosting….yummy
As Christmas Eve is the main Christmas ( = presents!) event in Germany, it is full of traditions: We decorate the tree, have a festive dinner (usually roast goose), then we light the tree’s candles (yes, real ones!) and open our presents. The rest of the evening is spent on the couch – with a glass of sherry or champagne and our new christmas books!

I love spending time with my family. I enjoy decorating our white Christmas tree with music going and kitty cats playing with garland! And making pizzelles cookies with my mom. Yum!
We love to spend Christmas Eve delivering baskets of treats to friends and people we know who might not have any family or who are on their own. We all choose a person/family and then there’s a couple of extra families/people on this list. I spend all day making cookies, cake pops, etc… to fill up different baskets/containers and try to make as many as possible to give to as many people as possible!
Go to see Christmas lights! Drink hot cocoa, watch a Christmas movie, and play games! :D Love it!
