It’s time to pick winners from all the comments? These were some of the best, feel good responses and oh my goodness can I come over on Christmas Eve? So many wonderful memories are going to be happening this year too. Hope you all have happy holidays!
And now for the winners…
I love making cookies. It’s been a tradition since I was a child.
I was so thrilled to meet you in person during the book signing yesterday in King of Prussia. We always celebrate New Year’s eve with the whole family and it’s like a big reunion with lots of food and games. When the clock strikes 12:00, everyone is excited to open their gifts.
My Christmas Eve is always spent putting together items for Christmas Day. Family and friends meet at our house about noon, Christmas Day, and we celebrate almost all day.Two turkeys, two hams, lots of sides and of course, lots of deserts! This year, I’m working on some cake pops as take home ‘Thank you’s’. Your ideas are so great. And simple to put together.
My favorite part of the holiday season is sitting home drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies :)
My favorite things about this season are decorating the tree, making peppermint bark for gifts, shopping, listening to Christmas music, driving around looking at the lights!
hi bakerella!
i love the holiday season because it gives me a chance to try out some new recipes and of course to make my old favorites too!!!!! i really hope i win.
What’s your favorite part of the holiday season?
Every little second of it!! Christmas is the ONLY time my whole family is together so it is the biggest event of the year. Birthdays are nothing, CHRISTMAS IS EVERYTHING!
Christmas Eve we will spend with my step children celebrating Christmas. We will be celebrating all day. Love it!
Favorite part is attending midnite mass with family. Then coming home to open presents and eating baked goodies.
On Christmas Eve, we usually watch A Charlie Brown Christmas and eat yummy hors d’œuvres :) Oh it would be awesome to win a signed cake pop book! It’s been amazing watching your creations become popular ^^
Christmas eve we always have homemade meat pie for supper, served with potato chips and pickles. We go to church at some point, we leave cookies and scotch for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. The kids open one small gift, then it’s off to bed. The parents stay up late stuffing stockings and eating appetizers.
Christmas Eve is church and family!
My favorite part of the holiday season is the food, baking, and decorations.
Growing up, Christmas Eve was always spent at my grandmother’s house, and since we are Italian, we did the traditional ‘Feast of the Seven Fishes.” There was always a big crowd there, but after the celebration was over, our little family would go back to our house and each of us would get to open one present before heading to bed.
We don’t do anything special for Christmas eve, but Christmas day we have a big open house/brunch for all of our family and friends. It’s very come and go when convenient, no pressure, just great food and great fun.
Since I was little, we’ve always spent Christmas Eve with my grandparents. I feel extremely blessed that I, as an adult, am able to continue spending that evening with them!
Christmas Eve we decorate our Minnesota neighborhood with lumenarias, a tradition we brought back from New Mexico. I wish I knew how to make tamales like Grace C. That sounds delicious!
We always decorated our tree, listened to Carols, and watched the yule log on TV.
My favorite part about the holidays is the decorations and the yummy treats!
It’s my mom’s birthday. So we have lots of food and treats at her house. We try to make it extra special so her birthday isn’t forgotten in all the Christmas excitement
I spend Christmas Eve with my family, we always have Chinese food for dinner and watch a Christmas movie or a horror movie! :) we also always play clue. We’ve played so many times we had to photocopy the little clue papers to keep playing!
I almost always work so that my coworkers with kiddos can be home :)
Christmas Eve is an open house at my house where family and friends come and go all afternoon and evening. It can be exhausting but I wouldn’t have it any other way:)
We prepare for Christmas Day, make the pumpkin pies, (always better the 2nd day :-) ), stuff the stockings and put out a Santa gift for our daughter, even though she is 30 yrs old ! ! ! ! After that we just relax & watch a Hallmark Christmas movie & say ahhhhhhhhhh to a wonderful season.
This might be a bit too broad, but I love the anticipation and feelings of good-will.
My F*A*V*O*R*I*T*E* part of the season is the day after Thanksgiving when my husband and I gather all 4 of our girls (now teenagers!), my parents and family friends and go up into the mountains for a leftovers picnic and tree cutting expedition. It is an time honored tradition that ranks the highest of all in the eyes of all our family and friends!! Memories that last a lifetime and start the holidays on wonderful high note : )
I’d love to have that book…. and signed (obviusly!!!)
I usually spend christmas eve with my family (mother’s side)… on christmas day i have lunch with the other side of the family, and then see my friends at night… Last year i got married, so now i have to include my husband’s family as well on the celebration… so i end up visiting over 5 houses, eating over 5 dinners, 3 breafasts and 2 lunches… it’s crazy!!, but i absolutely love it =)
greetings from Perú!!!… i really enjoy reading your blog =)hopefully one day i’ll make cake pops as pretty as yours!!
My sister in law usually has a get together so I always spend Christmas Eve with my in laws. Those jingle bell pops are great — for a minute I thought they were real bells. thanks!
Christmas Eve we (my sisters and family) go to my parents house after Church. Eat delicious food and open presents. We used to gather at my Great Auntie’s house but they past away a few years ago, so we have been making new traditions. We always end up “remembering when..” Bittersweet :)
We spend Christmas Eve making tamales, eating and waiting till midnight to open gifts.
Each Christmas Eve growing up, we opened a gift from our parents that was always a pair of new pajamas. My husband and I have done this the last two years since we have been married, but he doesn’t seem to understand why we need a new pair of pajamas each year. He’ll catch the spirit of it eventually. :) Then the entire immediate family comes over for a dinner of finger foods, lots of singing Christmas carols (out of tune), and an exchange of gifts amongst family members. Now we’ve decided to let the little ones exchange gifts and the adults deliver gifts that night to a family in need.
The traditions keep evolving as our family grows, but it doesn’t really matter what we do, just that we’re together.
This year will be extra special. We had a baby boy last Dec. 22nd (my b-day) We were still at the hospital on Dec. 25th. So this will be his first X-mas. Its going to be hectic because we will be moving to my Moms for a couple of months to relocate from CA to CO. Somehow I will make a little corner just for his first X-mas, its gonna be great!
I haven’t got a Christmas Eve tradition yet… this will be my first year living with my boyfriend and previous years have all had to revolve around his shiftwork, my dads shiftwork and my sisters work schedules (she’s a chef).
So I think maybe I should start a tradition for myself, and whoever wants to join in, can. I’m going to be receiving 10kg of mangoes this month (I’m in Australia, ’tis the season!) so perhaps I should make mango cocktails, listen to my David Hasselhoff Christmas album, look at all my pretty lights and just relax!
My family spends Christmas eve at my Grandmas! we have a big traditional Ukrainian dinner followed by us all going to church, we then go back to my grandmas for dessert while all the little kids beg the adults to hurry up so we can open presents! it’s my absolute favourite day of the entire year.
My favorite part of christmas is the christmas tree… and the food… and everything!
How do you usually spend Christmas Eve? Or What’s your favorite part of the holiday season?
Family get together and opening presents just after midnight :)
My favorite part is My Christmas Day skype with my nieces and nephews. They randomly come show me all their new stuff. It makes me cry just thinking about it. It makes me feel at home even when I’m not :)
My favorite part of the holiday season is eating all the delicious cookies that my mom makes every year!
Christmas Eve for me as a parent will be much like it was for my parents… staying up all night rapping presents and assembling anything that needs assembled. I remember one year laying in bed listening to the sound of power tools and curses, to find nothing that would have needed any of it in the morning…. my parents cut up a pallet and burned it in the fireplace…. they have a weird sence of humor.
Christmas Eve is spent at my grandparents on my dad’s side, we all get together for a meal of spaghetti and snack all night on lots of Norwegian sweets and other sweets – we all LOVE to bake, and we have punch in snowman glasses while we play boardgames. I wouldn’t give this up for anything. We used to all live in the same town but now we have moved all over the US and I really look forward to Christmas Eve. I hope my children will get to experience it also someday.
I usually spend my Christmas eves baking treats for my friends, family, and of course, Santa Claus. My favorite part of the holidays is definitely having my cousin Alexa visit, we’re best friends!!!!!
For the past five years or so, I’ve been alternating Christmas with my husband’s family. This year, we’ll be with my family, where usually Christmas eve is spent with my mom’s side of the family. This year, however, we’re going to Ad Hoc in Yountville! Can’t wait! My favorite part of the holiday season is seeing my family. :)
We spend Christmas Eve going to church, then home to enjoy the excitement with my children! Such a joy.
Normally I’m at home wit my husband and daughter. I usually make my pumpkin cheesecake. <3
Christmas Eve is extra special to me because it’s my birthday as well. We usually go to a Candlelit service at our church, then spend the evening at my aunt’s house with family that we don’t see much throughout the year, eating yummy food and singing Christmas Carols.
I usually spend Christmas with my dad, my sisters and my brother. We watch A Christmas Story! We’ve been doing this tradition for close to 20 years. I love it.
My favorite part is the great food and presents!
I’m not even Christian yet I love everything about Christmas! I love the colors, the decor, the lights and even the weather!
My favorite part of the holidays is the preparation of the food, eating it with the family, songs, decorations and gift exchage.
We always make a gingerbread house on Christmas Eve. Usually after lunch. Then typically get a coffee/hot chocolate at starbucks and go see the Christmas lights. Last year (our first year in Dallas) we rode the trolley through the cute decorated part of the city. Can’t wait to do it again!
My favorite part of the holidays is the smells. I love the smell of baking in the oven or hot chocolate.
It makes me feel at home.
I love Christmas!
Typical Christmas Eve is spent prepping food for Christmas day and then waiting .. waiting .. till 11 PM when we have to get to midnight Mass early because you know if you show up past 11:15 there won’t be any seats left.
My favorite part of the holiday season is making tons of cookies to give to others!
The first part ofour Christmas Eve is usually spent convincing the kids to go to bed, and the second part is spent frantically putting together the last of the toys before morning.
My mum, brother and sister-in-law get together on xmas eve for snacks and gift exchanging.
blessings
~*~
On Christmas Eve, we always go to the Candle Light Service at our church then out to eat on the way home. My husband usually spends the rest of the night wrapping packages while the kids wait patiently in another room. As soon as it becomes 12:01, we all open packages, spend some more time together then off to bed.
Christmas eve is spent with everyone at my moms house eating her delicious tamales as we all wait for midnight to open gifts. My favorite part is now that I have my own kids I get to play Santa and sneak around, and watch them light up at the excitement of the tree lights the house lights and of course opening presents.
Christmas Eve is our official “junk food” night. We eat sausage balls, chips and dip, tamales, and tons of other stuff that we know isn’t good for us but we really don’t care. We throw all caution to the wind. Then we open one present each (a warm up to Christmas morning) and then go to a movie or just hang out around the house. The epitome of laziness and gluttony. Love it!
Traditionally, my Christmas Eve was usually spent with my parents and siblings. The evening would typically include us all sitting down around the fire watching movies while drinking hot chocolate or eating popcorn. We were also able to open ONE present on Christmas Eve. I’m excited to now carry on that tradition with my little family. After all, the holidays are about who you spend it with, not what you get…..
Every year on Christmas Eve, one of my sisters and I wake up early to make Gullettes, which are a Belgian waffle cookie. Each batch makes about 100 cookies, but the iron can only produce two cookies at a time. We spend hours mixing, rolling, flouring, and ironing the cookies, which are always a hit at the family gatherings. This used to be my Grandma’s job since it is a family recipe, but she gave the job to me when she got too old to continue it. Throughout the day, I help my mom with casseroles, salads, and desserts, which we take to my Gradma’s house in the evening. We spend the night enjoying the company of my grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. It isn’t anything fancy, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
My favorite part of the holiday season is when my family gets all together to watch movies and listen to music all together as one big happy family!! =)
I love making special holiday treats for family and friends.
Christmas Eve is spend at my parents’ house, eating delicious food by the fire and roasting marshmallows. Favorite part of the holiday season is spending time with my loved once and consuming copious amounts of sweets ;)
My fave is getting together with family with presents and my sister’s cookies…she starts the Monday after Thanksgiving and makes dozens—all different kinds- some new -some family favorites.
I loveee cakepops! Christmas is all about family and love =)
My favorite part of the holidays is the decorations. Seeing the lights and christmas trees make me smile.
I spend a lot of my Christmas Eve cooking and baking like it’s nobody’s business. I always want to work like mad so when Christmas day arrives, all I need to do is relax, open presents with the family, and stuff myself silly!
I love the holiday spirit. It’s so warm and loving =)
Our traditions have changed since the children grew up and have families of their own. Most are scattered from West Coast to East Coast, so we have adapted to just the two of us (hubby & me) with our dogs (4 of them all house pets). We make sure we have a tree each years, give thanks to the Lord above for sending His Son to save all of us; attend our church’s Candle Light Service; and Christmas Day call our children and wish them the best of the day.
I love your book! Its sooo cute!!!! =)) We just do something Christmas-y on the eve.
My favorite part is NYE, with the ball dropping!
My favorite part of the holiday season is reading Christmas books every night by the light of the Christmas tree.
On Christmas Eve we travel to my mother in laws house in the morning to celebrate Christmas with my husbands family and then in the afternoon we go to my parents house to celebrate Christmas with my family. Christmas day is all about the kids, grazing on amazing food all day and playing with the toys they received from Santa. There couldn’t be anything better:)
Christmas eve is my sister’s birthday. Growing up, my mom always let us choose our dinner meal on our own birthday, and my sister always chose lasagna! And I *HATED* my mom’s lasagna! Fast forward 20+ years and my now husband and I were trying to figure out what to do for Christmas eve, and for some reason I was craving lasagna!!! So now that’s our tradition! Christmas movies and lasagna as we wait for Christmas day!
Favourite Parts: Baked Goods!!!
My favorite part of the holiday is getting to see all my family who are home for the holiday.
On Christmas Eve, I’m usually at work delivering little bundles of joy. I’m a labor and delivery night nurse. :)

Our family usually spends Christmas Eve attending Christmas Eve service and opening 1 present each. I am enjoying your website so much!! Lots of smiles!
I love the lights. Stringing up lights makes everything look so beautiful!
We spend Christmas Eve with my family. We always make sugar cookies and get dinner ready for the next day. My favorite part of the season is just being around my family and friends. We never get enough time to see each other throughout the year.
Christmas Eve is usually spent in a mad dash to finish wrapping all the presents! My favorite part of Christmas is spending it with my husband, kids and parents. We always load up the car with all the presents and drive over to my parents house. There we all sit around the tree and talk, open presents, remind my mom about 12 times to check the ham (so it isnt burning) and to keep an eye on her glass of egg nog (my dog loves in and tries to steal her glass).
We open presents on Christmas Eve. It’s the tradition in Germany, and my mom is German–also, one year my cousins apparently got up in the middle of the night and set all the clocks forward several hours, and my parents wanted to avoid that scenario. It’s really much nicer opening them by the light of the tree, anyway.
Christmas Eve is my favorite part of the holiday. We give the kids new jammies and put them to bed (after leaving cookies and milk of course). Then my husband cooks me an amazing dinner that usually involves several courses and lots of wine, while I arrange gifts in stockings and under the tree.
I always spend Christmas Eve with my dads parents and family. There’s always I ridiculous amount of food to eat all day and some amazing desserts. I’m looking forward to the buckeye Bon Bon. I could use a freebie about this time… Bad things happen in threes and I’m waiting for the third.
I usually spend Christmas Eve with my Nana, watching Christmas movies and planning on dinner the following day. We usually leave deserts until the last minute and I know there would be a lot of smiles on Christmas Day if we can pull together some of the wonderful, festive treats that you’ve put up on the site and in your book! :D
We spend Christmas Eve on my husband’s family house, with a very bid dinner.
We have everyone over Christmas Eve for a large dinner of finger foods and Lots of DESERTS including Cake Pops.
I usually spend Christmas Eve at home, with my family, eating good food :)
We always got to pick one present to open on Christmas Eve, and I remember how exciting that was so I’m looking forward to continuing that tradition with my girls this year!
My favorite part of the holiday season is celebrating with my family and opening presents. I am 7 years old and really enjoy your website and cake pops!
We always have a crazy, 13 course meal (a family tradition) on Christmas Eve. My mom won’t let anyone help her, and she makes an amazing dinner anyhow.
We spent Christmas Eve with my parents. We enjoy a nice quiet dinner and then go to Midnight Mass together. I love it!!
we go see the nutcracker and then come home to lots of yummy food and baked goodies. we don’t forget to leave some for santa and all the reindeer.
Christmas time…I love it,perhaps because of my name, I don’t know. Christmas Eve is candlelight service at church. So very beautiful.Later on my husband and I open our stocking stuffers with some wine or perhaps a glass of Amaretto,or two. We started opening our stockings then as the next morning was crazy when the children were small. Now they are adults with their own families.Of course we gather together Chistmas for dinner.Love it,love it,love it..
Christmas Eve is family time! We get together with all the kids that can come and eat lots of family favorites, everyone gets to open one “early” gift, and then we talk, play games, etc. And then we, as the parents!, finish all the last minute “stuff” when they all leave or go to bed! (We have both “in house” kids and kids that now have families of their own!)
We used to spend Christmas Eve at my grandparents, but now since my grandfather passed we spend it at my uncles. It’s a big dinner, presents for the kids, and just a lot of hanging out and fun.
My family comes over to our house on Christmas Eve.. We have a pot luck Christmas and enjoy all the food and goodies that are made while Christmas music plays. Later we all enjoy playing games and taking pictures together.
My favorite part of the holiday season is baking cookies with my girls and sharing them with family and friends!! And, Of course, decorating the Christmas tree too!!
We spend Christmas Eve with our families. My favorite part of Christmas is all of the Christmas music and decorations!
I love hosting the annual family/friends cookie swap at my home.
After a day of delivering cookies to friends and family, we head over to church for mass and afterwards come home to a cup of cocoa in front of the fire.
My favorite part of the Holidays is spending our 12 days before Christmas celebrating in our traditional “Posadas”..our family here in the U.S. gets together and celebrate what our grandparents thought us south of the border and with our relatives still there in our minds we go house to house praying together, our kids singing christmas charols in both English and Spanish, ( my son brings the trombone along and bursts our ears away :) ) then we celebrate with a warm meal and laughs and remember cherished moments of when we were kids and used to pick in to the gifts under the tree well before is was time to open…so much fun ahead of us this December can’t wait for the Holidays!!
For decades now, my family and I have had a prime rib dinner every Christmas Eve and open one present afterward. We use the same recipes my late mother used when she began this tradition.
Thanks so much for a chance at the giveaway.

We are sort of weird.. an Irish Italian family that feasts on Guatamalan tamales for Christmas Eve! (It’s a long story) Also, we go to Mass and open presents. It’s great!!
I get so excited when the holidays roll around because I look forward to a party my aunt throws every year. She invites over all the kids and they decorate the house and put hundreds of ornaments on their tree, and by the time they’re finished there are dozens of cookies that I help prepare to snack on. And I can’t forget the fun Christmas music!
So so cute! You are so creative. On christmas eve we always go to my grandparents house and do a gift exchange with all of my cousins. Everbody does a homemade gift for their secret santa. The best part of the holiday season for me is giving gifts to people. I love to see them so happy.
Christmas Eve for us is spent with my immediate family at church, followed by dinner and gift exchange.
love christmas eve when i was a kid we used to go from house to house and visit and i remeber always having good treats. so now that im grown and have a child we always go all out and make lots of traditional things and i have to try at least three new reciepes and we have people stop by our house. always have lots of treats left over but thats always good on christmas morning. love love christmas holiday.

My favorite part of the holidays are when my family gets together to make tamales for Christmas and tell stories about when we were younger.
My families Christmas eve tradition is to get together and order take out so we don’t have left overs and don’t have to cook anything in preparation for the next day. Then we each open one gift and watch old Christmas movies. : )
Christmas Eve is spent either rushing around getting the things I’ve forgotten or baking mince pies or sitting back drinking a comforting little something or other. It depends where I am in on my To Do list!
Sorry to see that you won’t be stopping by Seattle on your booksigning, but even more sorry that the good people of New York and New Jersey may not be back in their homes by Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Christmas Eve is always spent with the whole family. Aunts, uncles, cousins. We make sandwiches on French bread and have lots of finger foods. Christmas Eve has always been a big family time for us. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, everybody! I come from a loud German family thick with generations old traditions, so christmas is a great time to be together. My aunts all bake different kinds of cookies, thumbprints, sandys, peanut butter, frosted sugar, you name it. There is always a great big tree, decorated just so, lots of food (including my Grandpa’s peanut butter fudge that he only makes at christmas), and music that spans generational gaps and brings us all together. And everyone is just..happy. It’s a beautiful time, my favorite time of year.

The children get special surprise left by The Pajama Elf, then we all gather around the christmas tree and read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” from our original family children’s book from 1969!. Christmas Eve is definitely one of my favorites!!
One of my favorite parts of the holidays are the traditions you can count on. One of the most fun, is getting together with a group of friends and baking treats for our families and friends!

Christmas eve is spent with immediate family. We have our big dinner then read the nativity story from the scriptures, and the kids always open one gift.
We spend Christmas Eve with my husband’s family before we head to church for a Christmas Eve service. With a 5 year old in the house, we’ll be up early the nex morning. But that’s the fun part, right? :)
Wrapping packages is my favorite part of the holiday season…..love it!!
My fav is celebrating the birth of Jesus thru the eyes of our children!!
We start Christmas celebrations with Mass. Then, my family gets together to eat, be together and eat more. We give presents, decorate the tree, eat lots of food. Read Christmas stories, watch movies, and do a cookie exchange.

Then we all open a package of Christmas pajamas and run to our beds! We parents enjoy Christmas eve just as much as our kids!
Around Christmas me and my family whip out the flour and sugar and spices! We love to bake around Christmas. The scents are just wonderful! We also decorate the tree ;)
The book looks fabulous . (Only to be expected though :-) )
Christmas eve involves new pyjamas for the kids, and a new book too – usually christmas themed, but that is getting harder now they are older – and hoping against hope that my daughter will be asleep before midnight!
On Christmas Eve, we always go to church as a family, even the visiting family. Afterwards we have a snack ,and each child gets to open one gift. Then, they climb into their PJs and set out cookies for Santa and reindeer food for the reindeer. Then, I usually prepare something to pop in the oven for Christmas morning. I love the holidays. Reminds me of how lucky I am to have such great family and friends!

We used to spend Christmas Eve with my Grandma but she passed away almost 3 years this January so the holidays are still really painful for us so Christmas Eve we really don’t do anything. We always go to the Christmas Eve church service. This year will a great year since my granddaughter is 2 and will be able to enjoy the lights and music and movies of Christmas. We will be teaching her the real reason for Christmas rather than the greedy need of children to have to have the newest and best toys and other items. We will also be starting a tradition of making cake pops to share with family, friends, and our church. We love to make them but never know how to decorate them! Winning your book would help us out greatly and be a big blessing to us and many others! Thank you for the chance
