This post doesn’t involve baking from this weekend
but there’s something pretty sweet at the end I think you’ll like.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.
Here’s Lauren’s Latest, Julie, Krissy and Jenny.
And I finally finally met Elise from Simply Recipes. Yay! Hope we can chat more next time.
Alison and Jenny. Love you guys.
And sweet, sweet Julie. Again, great job on pulling this event together.
On Sunday we had a brunch hosted by Whole Foods. Incredible food means the cameras come out.
See what I mean. That’s Dawn in the back, Julie and Jenny, and then Lindsey (Love and Olive Oil) in the front.
This might be one of my favorite pics from the weekend. It just makes me giggle at how we all do the same thing as bloggers. It’s almost uncontrollable when you have a camera in your hand.
But in our defense, the flowers were pretty cheery.
I enjoyed this weekend so much.
Hi Emily (Sage Recipes) and Kiran (Kirantarun)! It was nice meeting you both. Hope to see you again. And you too Droolius and Simply Southern Baking.
Thanks for a weekend of great memories with old friends and new!

So now the fun part.
I’m having an amazing giveaway today.
If you read last week’s post, you may remember some of the new products I talked about from the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. One of them was this Kitchenaid mixer in Crystal Blue, the brand new color from the Catalina Collection that I fell in love with.
Well, I met some of the folks from Kitchenaid in Chicago for the first time and and then coincidentally, we met again in Orlando the very next weekend as they were one of the sponsors of Food Blog Forum. It was a surprise to see them two weeks in a row. We talked about how much I loved the brand new color they debuted in Chicago and we thought it would be a fun giveaway here on bakerella.com.
Want to brighten up your kitchen and be one of the first people to own a mixer in this brand new, bright blue color courtesy of Kitchenaid? I know I would. It’s such a happy color. And much more vibrant in person.
Enter for a chance to win this Crystal Blue 5-quart Artisan Stand Mixer from Kitchenaid!
- Just leave a comment on this post here on the website and answer the following question.
- If you could only eat one kind of sweet/dessert for the rest of your life, what would choose? And not just cookie or cupcake, etc. – but what kind if you can? I’m very curious.
- Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 28th at 5 pm ET.
SORRY, TIME’S UP! Winner Announced Below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Wednesday evening.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!
oh and FYI – the Crystal Blue color should be available for purchase starting sometime in April.
Reading all of your sweet choices are driving me crazy. I have cravings now for way too many treats.
I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.
Okay, ready for the winner?
It’s comment #6224 – Leann
Congratulations and enjoy your bright blue baby. Hope you make lots of amazing desserts and smile every time you look at it.
And big thanks to Kitchenaid for supplying the mixer in this beautiful blue.
I would have to say a classic Victoria Sponge Cake with cream and strawberries!!
I love the new colors of Kitchen Aid Mixers…your right, the Crystal Blue is gorgeous!!!! Hoping today is my lucky day!!
Thank you for all you do and your inspiration! Happy Easter Wishes. xx
Cheesecake cupcakes!
If I could only have one dessert, it would have to be sweet potato pie! I loveeee sweet potato pie. I make just sweet enough, creamy, and a just barely browned crust that is to die for!
Tres Leches Cake. >.< YUMMY.
The classic chocolate chip cookie……never goes out of style.
For me, it’s an easy choice. One dessert forever would have to be homemade apple pie that’s made with real apples, a pinch of cinnamon and not a lot of sugar. All encased in the most amazing flaky but still able to stand up to a day later slice-in-hand-munching while standing in front of the fridge sort of crust!
mmmmm!!
Bar none its a chocolate chip cookie. No matter how many decadent desserts I bake, I’ll take a homemade chocolate chip cookie anytime.
French macron! Raspberry flavor. I am absolutely crazy about this light and delicious petite treats and could eat them for the rest of my life! :)
I just love Carrot Cake: fruit, nut and icing! Miam!
My favorite dessert is creme brulee. I really like the standard creme brulee, not a specialty creme brulee (chocolate, white chocolate, etc.). It’s actually surprising how easy it is to make this impressive/complicated looking dessert.
I wish I could eat my memere’s homemade doughnuts every.single.day. They were to die for! I would eat them for dessert and have them warm! OH- I am just drooling thinking about them. I hope you consider that dessert! :-)
I would pick ice cream— probably oreo or strawberry cheesecake! My dad started us very young on the stuff and it’s our family go-to dessert.
Lemon cake with powdered sugar/lemon juice icing! My Grandma used to make it for me and now I make it for my kids!
Definitely bread pudding-yummmmm!
if I could only eat one dessert for the rest of my life, it would be a lovely crumbly almond and raspberry traybake slice, with a buttery pastry base and a crumbley topping with juicy raspberries poking out here and there.
brb, got to go make one.
ps, so good to see you happy and healthy and doing what you do so well!
holly marieee x x
If I could eat just one type of dessert for the rest of my life it would be Butterscotch Bars. They’re made with butterscotch chips, cream cheese, and lemon zest. They’re absolutely amazing!
I could eat Macrons with Lemon Meringue Pie flavored filling (lemon curd & swiss meringue butter cream!) forever. And boy would they be a snap to make with this mixer!
Thanks Bakerella & KitchenAid!
One choice of dessert forever? I would have to say Baskin Robins Peanut Butter and Chocolate ice cream. I have loved it my entire life, ate gallons of it while pregnant and it is always my favorite treat :)
I would east cake pops of course! Chocolate and peanut butter…yum!!!
Hmm… This is a very hard choice to make, as I am an absolute dessert-fanatic. But I think I would have to say bread and butter pudding with a fluffy milk-chocolate cream to go with it.
By the way, that Kitchen Aid looks absolutely stunning!
My favorite dessert Will be chocolate mousse cake i’m mot sure if it’s the right spelling, sorry my english spelling need some work :)
If I could only eat one dessert the rest of my life it would have to be my devils food cupcakes with almond buttercream frosting! If I only had the Artisan it would SO much easier! I have been wanting one for years but have never been able to afford it. This would be AMAZING!
My favorite dessert? Cake batter. Yep, if I could eat a bowl of cake batter (any flavor) every night for dessert, I would be a happy girl.
Salmonella who?
This is a hard question but I think I would go with Mississippi mud cake that my mom’s family makes. It is a very moist, fudgy cake with marshmallow topping. It’s so good!
Chocolate lava cakes, definitely
I’d say smores cookies because they have a little bit of everything and are so delicious!
If I only got to eat one kind of sweet the rest of my life, it would probably be the chocolate orange balls that you whack on a hard surface then eat. Something sweet and you can get your frustrations out. Seems like a win-win to me. :)
Princess Cake. It was a birthday cake tradition growing up.
Chocolate Chip, gooey brownies. mmmmmm
I’ve been making these cake pops lately, and not to toot my own horn, but I’ve fallen in love. Triple chocolate fudge cake, mixed with triple chocolate fudge chip frosting, dipped in mint flavored chocolate. Grasshopper overload!!! I definitely wouldn’t complain if that was all I had to eat for the rest of my life, lol.
definitely cookies & cream ice cream. i would literally do anything for this stuff!!
homemade chocolate chip cookies with the crunchy outsides and chewy insides are a very close second. i’m a sucker for the classics!

I would choose my mom’s Heaven & hell cake! Ever since I was a child it was my favorite cake. She would make her own angel food cake and double dark chocolate cake from scratch and stack them up with raspberry jam and cheesecake mousse in between the layers. It was then covered in chocolate ganache. sssssssoooooooooo goooooooooood
My grandma’s sugar cookies. She only makes them for Christmas and they are so addicting!
Definitely New York style Cheesecake….just plain. and maybe a cup of coffee….oh, and I’d like it for breakfast! :)
I like simple Shortbread…buttery, sweet..yummmmmmmmm!
Oatmeal raisin cookies. No contest.
Oh….My brain feels scrabmbled when I have to pick 1 thing but I would have to say Creme Bruelee….OMG!!! I love it.
I have to say, the one dessert that has lingered in my mind for over twenty years was served at Louie’s Backyard in Key West, Florida. It was a creme brulee on top and a warm fudge brownie underneath. The thought of it still makes my mouth water. Most recently I ate at the Red Table restaurant in Huntington Beach, CA and they serve a red velvet cupcake in a tea cup, obviously cooked in butter and topped with a vanilla bean cream cheese…it comes an extremely close second!
I would choose a plain vanilla cupcake with cream cheese frosting–simple and classic!
BTW, your weekend looks amazing! I’m glad you had fun :)
My great grandmas graham cracker crust with a no bake cream cheese filling with pinapples and bananas on top
I think I could eat sweet potato cake with cream cheese icing for the rest of my life. My mom makes a 4-layer one that is amazinggggg.

I could eat cherry cheese cake forever! I love cheese cake and the cherry’s makes it even better! Of course it doesn’t help that I’m lactose n tolerant but I eat it anyways. :)
Strawberry Pie :-)
Chocolate chip cookies for sure! Never tire of them!!

I would have Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes with Bailey’s Cream Cheese Frosting. My new favorite!
I would live to eat chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, otherwise why live?
Disney World looked like so much fun.
I would eat my mini boston cream pie cupcakes! That burst of vanilla pudding in the middle is the best.
The one dessert I would love forever is pumpkin pie! It has yummy flaky crust, with a smooth slightly sweet creamy filling. And vitamins from the pumpkin! Mmmmm, top it off with whipped cream and you have protein and calcium too. . .
I would have to say a Chocolate Caramel Brownie with oozing caramel coming out of the center. It would also have to contain walnuts. Served warm out of the oven with vanilla ice cream.
I would pick creme brulee!

Oh my gosh, I’ve been saving my pennies for a long time to get my hands on one of these!
Without a doubt it would have to be Banoffee Pie for me. It has everything you need… a biscuity base, toffee, cream, and one of your five a day :)
The dessert that I could eat for the rest of my life would be pie, coconut cream, banana, apple, the list goes on. I love pie. It makes me feel at home and brings up great memory of my family and times we spent together.
If I could only eat one dessert, it would have to be red velvet cupcakes.
It has to be Chocolate ice-cream…every single night..ha ha
Only one dessert? That’s like picking a favorite child…. But since you’re asking right now, I’d have to pick my dad’s Chocolate Orange Velvet. Chocolate, orange, cream cheese, heavy cream all mixed together and frozen. He slices it super thin, since a tiny piece is all you can handle.
If I had to pick just one dessert, I’d eat baklava for the rest of my life – the way my high school best friend’s mom made it, with plenty of syrup and a mixture of walnuts and pistachios.
I can live off of chocolate pudding with Cool Whip topping! OMG!!!

I’d have to go with a family recipe – reba’s chocolate cake.
If I was limited, I would have to choose Apple Pie – homemade, freshly baked that same day, with a scoop of ice cream. It doesn’t get much better than the classics.
Super Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies…or Strawberry Lime Cream Cake….I cannot choose. If I had to live without either it would be a sad life :)
Rice pudding with coconut milk and lots of vanilla.
I would definitely choose homemade baklava – and always having my Yia-yia around to making along side of me would sweeten the deal!
I would eat Cadbury chocolate mini eggs- they are my favorite, so of course I’m loving that they’re ‘in-season’ now. :)
There’s a cupcake truck around town that has the best darn red velvet cupcakes I’ve ever tasted. Don’t you live in Atlanta? I could have sworn you said something about Atlanta. Anyway, the cupcake truck is called Yum Yum Cupcake. You should check it out! :D
My absolute FAVOURITE dessert is Strawberry Shortcake! It’s so light and fluffy and has just the right amount of sweetness. I could definitely see myself eating it forever – or at least until I was too darn fat to get up and get more from the refrigerator! lol

I pretty much exist off of whole wheat chocolate chip cookies with a side of vegetables most days. I love thinking the whole wheat flour does me more good than the butter and chocolate. :)
It would definitely be milk chocolate! I’ve gone 28 years loving it and I imagine I could go another 60 years :p
I just can’t see me ever getting sick of it! <3

ICE CREAM! Winter or summer, nothing is more tempting to me than a cupful, pint-ful, or quart-ful of ice cream, depending on the day.
I love a huge assortment of flavors, from a pretty wide range of vendors, but if I had to pick just one, it would be a rich vanilla bean ice cream. Bakerella, I could live on Hershey’s chocolate cake – the simple recipe on the side of the cocoa container. It’s a “wet” cake, using vegetable oil and hot water (I often sub hot coffee). If you have not tried this, treat yourself to the easiest and one of the yummiest chocolate cakes in creation!

I could eat my Mom’s homemade double layer chocolate fudge cake all day every day for the rest of my life – perfect with a tall glass of cold milk :)
Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite thing to make AND eat!
That’s a rough question; my favorite part of dessert is the variety! If I absolutely had to choose, I’d probably choose pie. Wild blackberry pie would be ideal; nothing quite like the flavor of tart berries!
Wow! That’s a TOUGH question! I guess I would say brownies- so simple, yet soooo delicious!
I would eat Pecan Pie, a good made pecan pie (especially with a dollop of whipped cream) can be scrumptious.
Hmmm one only. Would have to chocolate eclair :-)

Sprinkle little marshmellos on the bottom of the cake pan, cover them with prepared chocolate cake mix, then sprinkle with chocolate chips. Once it’s cool, drizzle on freshly made chocolate ganache and be prepared to fall in love! So easy. So delicious!

Strawberry shortcake! I don’t get nearly enough of that now.
The good ol’ chocolate chip cookie. It stands the test of time!
One dessert for the rest of my life? Oh my goodness. If I had to give up all desserts but one, I don’t think my life would last very long! Lol. But I think that I would pick a classic chocolate chip cookie. There are so many that I love so much, but you can never go wrong with a classic.
Thanks for the opportunity to win this kitchen aid – I have always wanted one!!
I’m pregnant and this pregnancy the thing that sounds the very best is a cake doughnut, dipped in chocolate or covered in powdered sugar. Not sure why, but this baby loves doughnuts.
Creme Brulee all the way…nothing fancy…just plain vanilla bean. Drool!
My favorite dessert is my Grandmother’s recipe for Rocky Road candy. My family and friends request it every year.

Thanks for an inspirational and intersting blog!
If I had to have one dessert in particular for the rest of my life, I would say that it would Jamoca flavored ice-cream from baskin robbins. Lol! That is hands down my most favorite dessert and has been every since my first job at baskin robbins in the 10th grade. I can eat it with brownies, or soft chocolate chip cookies and I am good to go! :0)
It would be our secret family receipe for Frozen Peachy Salad….Its amazing —
I love your posts :)
I would pick Chocolate Moelleux. It is the best dessert ever made.
Oh I am sooooo jealous! I have wanted to go to Disney World for my whole life. Someday maybe the budget will allow but that time is definitely not now. If I had to choose just one desert I think it would have to be ice cream. If I have to choose just one flavor I would have to pick vanilla because then I could dress it up however I want. My homemade vanilla is really good so I guess that is what I would pick. Thank you so much for the awesome giveaway!
Red Velvet Cake from my Grandma’s recipe. She uses french buttercream frosting though instead of cream cheese and it is the best thing ever!!!
This is the most difficult decision of the day! I would have a milk chocolate blondie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel on top. Or, I may have to subsitute warm, chunky peanut butter. But, I suppose that’s cheating since it could be two desserts!
I would definitely eat my father’s homemade chocolate mousse with real raspberry sauce. He’s got the touch!
Whoa, that’s a loaded and hard question. To pick one favorite for ever…..tiramisu.
Banana cream pie! I’ve loved it since I was a kid!
