This post doesn’t involve baking from this weekend
but there’s something pretty sweet at the end I think you’ll like.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.
Here’s Lauren’s Latest, Julie, Krissy and Jenny.
And I finally finally met Elise from Simply Recipes. Yay! Hope we can chat more next time.
Alison and Jenny. Love you guys.
And sweet, sweet Julie. Again, great job on pulling this event together.
On Sunday we had a brunch hosted by Whole Foods. Incredible food means the cameras come out.
See what I mean. That’s Dawn in the back, Julie and Jenny, and then Lindsey (Love and Olive Oil) in the front.
This might be one of my favorite pics from the weekend. It just makes me giggle at how we all do the same thing as bloggers. It’s almost uncontrollable when you have a camera in your hand.
But in our defense, the flowers were pretty cheery.
I enjoyed this weekend so much.
Hi Emily (Sage Recipes) and Kiran (Kirantarun)! It was nice meeting you both. Hope to see you again. And you too Droolius and Simply Southern Baking.
Thanks for a weekend of great memories with old friends and new!

So now the fun part.
I’m having an amazing giveaway today.
If you read last week’s post, you may remember some of the new products I talked about from the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. One of them was this Kitchenaid mixer in Crystal Blue, the brand new color from the Catalina Collection that I fell in love with.
Well, I met some of the folks from Kitchenaid in Chicago for the first time and and then coincidentally, we met again in Orlando the very next weekend as they were one of the sponsors of Food Blog Forum. It was a surprise to see them two weeks in a row. We talked about how much I loved the brand new color they debuted in Chicago and we thought it would be a fun giveaway here on bakerella.com.
Want to brighten up your kitchen and be one of the first people to own a mixer in this brand new, bright blue color courtesy of Kitchenaid? I know I would. It’s such a happy color. And much more vibrant in person.

SORRY, TIME’S UP! Winner Announced Below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Wednesday evening.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!
oh and FYI – the Crystal Blue color should be available for purchase starting sometime in April.
Reading all of your sweet choices are driving me crazy. I have cravings now for way too many treats.
I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.
Okay, ready for the winner?
It’s comment #6224 – Leann
Congratulations and enjoy your bright blue baby. Hope you make lots of amazing desserts and smile every time you look at it.
And big thanks to Kitchenaid for supplying the mixer in this beautiful blue.
I would love to eat a Casis flavored Macaroon from LaDuree for each day for the rest of my life!!!!
I live on the edge – i’d pick RAW chocolate chip cookie dough. Or raw brownie batter. Or raw cake batter. Hmm… i see a trend here. The BEST and my favorite raw dough is from my “Best Desserts” cook book. It makes a huge batch and its just the best home made cookie dough I’ve tasted. Its makes a pretty killer (baked) cookie as well – take them out of the oven before they are all the way baked and let them cool – you get a perfectly chewy cookie. OMG I need a cookie now.
Omg! Only one dessert! Right now im in love with my cousins brownie recipe that she made to win a pillsbury contest!!
Chocolate chip brownies with a layer of peanut butter on top an on top of that a layer of melted chocolate
But soft like almost like a ganache
Yummmmm
Chocolate chip cookie!!
Carrot cake, especially ones made my sister. It’s amazing–super moist cake and a thick layer of cream cheese frosting!! YUM!
Ironically, my whole life, I’ve always had a distaste for cheesecake! Actually, I’ve never really tried it…I just couldn’t understand the “cheese” & “cake” combination! But after tasting The Cheesecake Factory’s Red Velvet Cheesecake several months ago, I am certain that I could easily eat that dessert for the rest of my life! YUM!!
My mom’s banana split cake. So good, sweet, but not too sweet and always perfect in the Summer!
My favorite dessert is a cake pop with funfetti cake. I’m a bit of a “sucker” for this dessert. Yum!
Strawberry Shortcake!
I love Pizzelles! Sweet but not too sweet. Just what I love.
chocolate cak
I might have to choose ice cream because the variety is endless.
I could be happy with carmel brownies. Y-U-M-!!!
Birthday Cake Remix ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery – YUM!!
OH this would look fabulous on my new rustic kitchen countertop :)
If I had to pick just one dessert I would choose angel food cake with fresh strawberries. Delicious.
I have always longed for a KitchenAid Mixer but never bought one. I use my grandmother’s 1937 Sunbeam which is fun or sentimental reasons but if I won the beautiful blue I would love it to pieces!
I would choose my brother-in-law’s chocolate chip cookie dough recipe. When I make it I swear I can eat the whole bowl of dough. It is so yummy!
I would choose coconut cake with vanilla frosting to eat for life!! But could I cheat and have some vanilla ice cream with it :)
Only one? Gah! It’s between Oreos and ice cream. Probably the ice cream. Yes. Ice cream.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake!! I had it for the first time at The Cheesecake Factory and then I made it at home. Pure Haaven!!!
If I could only have one dessert it would be……. a drop chocolate chip cookie that my best friend’s grandmother use to make us, she has since moved and tries to mail all of us some around the holidays. I have the recipe but mine never turn out the same!!! i guess its just her loving touch that does the trick!
I would only have my mom’s Christmas cookies. They’re a pretty typical sugar cookie, but there’s just something about them… flaky, nutty (almond extract, yum), and browned just right. Only 9 more months…
Magic Cookie Bars! Gotta have both coconut and chocolate!
i would probably pick brownies
chocolate trifle
I would choose Subway’s peanut butter cookies. They have the best cookies!! Mmmmmmmm
My mom’s red velvet cake of course! She makes a point to make it for me every time I come home to visit :) From scratch with tons of thin layers and mounds of cooked frosting…not the cream cheese kind!! I make it all the way our here in San Francisco on occasion and it reminds me of home :-)
Ok, that is a hard question. Off the top of my head I would say blackberry cobbler. I have a super simple recipe and it is oh so good.
I would choose my cheesecake. It is simple and light and perfect. It comes out creamy with layers. It is so good I make it for any occasion I can including but not limited to potlucks, birthdays (especially my own) baby showers, and weddings.
For me it would be peanutbutter brownies. Peanut butter and chocolate is the best combo ever created.
I would probably eat sugar cookies that my mom makes. So good.
It would be torture to eat only one sweet for the rest of my life, and I probably would get to a point where I wouldn’t like it anymore … but, all the same, I’d choose “Next Best Thing to Tom Selleck Cookies.” They’re the perfect combination of chocolate and peppermint with just the right level of chewiness. Plus, they’re pretty. =)
Chocolte cherry oatmeal toffee cookies. Yum o!
Without hesitation I would pick COCONUT MACAROONS!! The Nestle cafe in my local mall makes the BEST macaroons ever! They are large, soft mounds of toasted coconut – they remind me of Hello Dollie Bars without the chocolate!
It would have to be arroz con leche of course!! Btw love you Bakerella!
Chocolate Chip cookie dough with sea salt. YUMMMM!
chocolate cheesecake
I would have to say Russian Tea Cakes. From the time they come out of the oven and get that first dusting of delicious powdered sugar, I can’t stop popping them in my mouth! My mom used to make them and now I do. Definitely a tasty treat I could eat year round!
I would eat red velvet and cream cheese cake pops dipped in vanilla candy melts. No decoration on it. Just plain and yummy.
I’ve always been a cheesecake girl, so i’d have to say a New York style raspberry cheesecake!
i love everything chocolate. my favorite dessert would be chocolate lava cake. warm, yummy–something to savor.
If I could only have one dessert hmm that is a hard one as I sure do like them all. I would have to say I am madly in love with dark chocolate. I eat a little bit of that everyday and it is good for you too so hey why not. My Dad got me hooked on it and he is 93 years old and defying aging. I will be 50 in May and hope it does the same for me. :D The new colors are gorgeous of the KitchenAid stand mixers wow!
If I could eat only one it would be tiramisu. I could disappear in a dark corner with a giant bowl of tiramisu and a spoon.
Choosing only one is nearly impossible, but lately I have been craving & loving dounuts. All types of dounuts. Baked, fried, cake, chocolate, powdered, glazed, all of them! Its really becoming a bit of a problem (mostly for my waist line).
Hmm, I think I would pick bread pudding. Light on the raisins, maybe a small side of caramel sauce on the side.
Creme brûlée! I love the fact that you can add flavors to both the creamy base and crispy crunchy sugar topping to make it whatever you’re feeling at the moment! For my 21st birthday my BF took me to a fancy restaurant and I got Lavendar creme brûlée. That was years ago and I’m still gushing about it any time desserts come up in conversation!
Snickerdoodles for sure!!
I would most definitely choose coconut cupcakes with lemon curd filling and seven minute frosting! I am a lemon girl…
Thanks for this opportunity, I’d love a new KitchenAid!
Vanilla bean macaroons :)
Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars!
Warm chocolate chip cookies made from my recipe with dark brown sugar, melted butter, milk and dark chocolate chips and toasted pecans. Love my kitchen aid mixer but this blue is simple beautiful.
I would choose Meringue, cream and strawberries
I would eat chocolate mousse cupcakes. They taste incredible. I love how they are so decadent and yet taste so light.
Rainbow cookies, without a doubt! So delicious, a little goes a long way, and you can change the colors up to be whatever you want.
I just told someone last night, “If I could only have one dessert for the rest of my life, it would be cheesecake.” As for what kind, I really do love plain jane vanilla cheesecake…closest thing to heaven on earth.
I would have to say my Grandma’s M&M cookies from our families cherished recipe. Love them!
Coffee cake, hands down. Nothing is more comforting and delicious than fresh warm coffee cake with lots of crumbles on top :)
I’d choose my mom’s fudge brownies. They are the perfect base for lots of variations in toppings (I’m going to say that’s not cheating). With strawberries, peanut butter, mint ice cream, or hot fudge, they are the perfect base dessert!
Paradise Pie (Chili’s Bar & Grill recipe) YUM!
I should be embarrassed that my choice isn’t more gourmet, but I’d have to choose Chex Muddy Buddies! I’ve made them almost every week for the past 18 years.
Banana sPlit would be amazing!
My Favorite dessert would have to be the chocolate chip cookie, warm out of the oven it could have oatmeal or walnuts too. Yep I love all things Chocolate!
Tiramisu…I love you. The perfect dessert…sweet, but not too. My favorite flavors all together. Yummm!
I’m embarrassed that this is my answer, but I’d choose chocolate chip cookie dough–not the baked cookies (although they’re delicious!), but just the raw cookie dough itself!
I think I would choose apple pie! As much as I love all baked goods, apples are just about my favorite food ever!!!
Ohh~ frozen yogurt for sure! As for the flavour…strawberry! With lots of fruits on top. :D
berry napoleon from martha’s in ny

Some sort of really delicious chocolate cake with a ganache frosting.
I would pick tiramisu as my one dessert. Yumm!
I have no doubt: a scrumptious pavlova with raspberry and whipped cream!
The sole dessert I’d choose to accompany me for the rest of my life would most certainly be Oreo Cheesecake!
Two brilliant components fused together for a sweet and fulfilling dessert.
I would eat strawberry shortcake. Not just ANY kind though, I hate the kind with pound cake or that icky pre-made spongey cake they sell at the grocery store. I would want homemade sweet biscuit-like tops and bottoms filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with fresh strawberries. I made my own version of this after ordering The Cheesecake Factory’s strawberry short cake…once you’ve tried this you never want the other stuff ever again!
I am going to have to say a dark chocolate bar… nothing beats a couple squares of really good dark chocolate! =) blackberry pie would be a close runner up! =) yum!
My favorite dessert would be an orange zested, marble poundcake! My mother makes this for me on my birthday and although it is sweet, it is not too sweet! Therefore it is a perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner! :) Happy baking!
chocolate icecream
Im not crazy about sweets BUT if I’m going to have them my favorite are things that are crunchy and salty and a little bit sweet all at the same time. For example Momofuku’s potato chip cookie or A cookie we like to make with Matzo crackers, caramel, dark chocolate and sea salt. If I win the kitchen aid I’ll whip you up a batch!
I would absolutely chose Italian Rainbow Cookies as my one and only dessert/treat. I adore those chocolate coated, almond flavored yummy cookies! DELICIOUS! As for this mixer! OMG, so I saw this for sale on QVC just yesterday and it said it was brand new color for Kitchen Aid and I SOOOOO wanted to buy it, but I can’t spring for the cash on it right now. I have a very old white KA Mixer but would love to pass that one on and get this AWESOME Crystal Blue one to go in my very brown kitchen!!!! LOVE it! Thanks Bakerella you rock!
I would only eat the vanilla cheesecake by the hummingbird bakery! I’ve only made it from their recipe book, so I have no idea what the actual shop brought one tastes like, but the home made one is wonderful!
i would pick me and my mums homemade bannoffe pie
Wow, just one dessert? This is an agonizing decision, but if all snickerdoodles in the world were perfectly soft and chewy I would choose them!
WHOOPIE PIES! Lots and lots of whoopie pies. Soft, yummy chocolate cake filled with that oh so good creamy filling – that whips up just right in a kitchen aid mixer! It’s my favorite comfort food treat and my kids love them too. Thanks for doing this contest! Love that new color and love kitchen aid mixers… I hope I win :)
It would have to be Italian Cream Cake. My version is a white cake with tons of coconut, a little coconut emulsion, & pecans, but what really makes it is the WICCI icing….Whipped Cream-Cream Cheese Icing that is to DIE for!
Without a doubt I could eat molten lava chocolate cake everyday for the rest of my life. It is like a hot cakey truffle…Yum!
I would choose creme` brulee. Not the most healthy but there is something about that crispy caramel top with the creme that makes my mouth water. Great pics and glad ya’ll had an awesome time!
Ok with great thought and changing of my mind severel time my one dessert would be
Blueberry hand pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Now I have to go make some..

It would have to be chocolate cake with chocolate chips, chocolate ganache topped with homemade whipped cream.
Brownies fresh out of the oven with a scoop of ice cream on top! YUM!
I think I would choose Pavlova. I love so many desserts, rich and creamy and sweet. But I would feel very guilty if every time I had dessert it was something like New York Cheesecake…so I would choose Pavlova, delicious light meringue, topped with whipped cream and loads of sweet fruit. Mixed berries and tropical fruits. Mmmm…gonna have to make one soon :)
red velvet cupcake from sprinkles! my fave :)
wonka wipple scrumptious caremel delight
I think I need to go with cookie dough, brownie sundaes with rainbow sprinkles, vanilla icecream, and peanut butter sauce drizzled everywhere. (I don’t like to leave out ANYTHING if this is the dessert I’m eating for the rest of my life!)
It would have to be flan if I had to choose only one.
I would have to say turtle brownies with plenty of caramel drizzled on top.
What a beautiful colour!!!
If I had to pick only one, I think it would have to be a chocolate cupcake with vanilla icing. Totally traditional but absolutely delicious.
I would have to say, dark chocolate…. I know it sounds plain and simple… but it’s my absolute favorite and I could not live without it. And if you throw a little caramel in the middle of it, that would be even better :) I love the ghirardelli dark & caramel. I always keep a few bags in my desk drawer at work at all times! Never know when you will need a little pick-me-up during the day :)

I have to go with salted caramel cupcake. Just can’t get enough of them!
A sour cream chocolate chip cinnamon swirl cake (also known as “those delicious cupcakes you make”) that my friend perfected. With a cream cheese frosting.
Perfect balance of sweet but not too sweet, and it can be done in bundt or cupcake form. If I had to choose one FORM forever? I would probably do cupcake, even though bundt cakes are so adorable! They are a little harder to frost.
Soft chocolate chip cookies!!
I my favorite dessert would be chocolate chip ice cream.
Vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips together is the best! Yummy!
I would definitely choose jello/pudding cake. It’s great fun with the bright colors, it has jello, pudding, AND whipped cream! You can’t really go wrong.
If would be a toss up between anything lemon or coconut….although you never can go wrong with chocolate/chocolate mousse i love the chocolate tower from the cheesecak!!e factory
One dessert??? That’s impossible. But if I have to pick… Snickerdoodle cupcakes, they’re my family’s favorite :)
Oh my goodness – it looks like you had a very adventurous time! I absolutely love the picture of everyone taking pictures of the flowers/centerpieces… ha!
If I could only eat one dessert for the rest of my life… it would probably be either cake pops or burned butter chocolate chip cookies with sea salt. Cake pops because they’re the perfect amount of sweetness in one bite OR burned butter chocolate chip cookies with sea salt because they’re a unique taste on a classic cookie & who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie with milk!?
Thanks Bakerella, as usual, a FANTASTIC giveaway!
My favorite dessert is CHEESECAKE! Any kind of cheesecake! In fact, I was just thinking this week how a stand mixer would make cheesecake making that much easier!! My next attempt will be a chocolate cheesecake with chocolate ganache topping and the crust made out of THIN MINT cookies! YUMMM!
Favorite dessert hands down would be a chipwich. I especially love the homemade kind – make 2 giant chocolate cookies and put white chocolate chip ice cream in the middle….yum. I’m making this for my Birthday next month!!
It would have to be Devil’s Food Cake with thick Chocolate Ganache Frosting. That’s all!!!!! Forever…..

Fond happy memories–and always our special occasion cake. None of us has made it exactly the same as hers–they never get the same hieight……after she died 12 years ago at the wonderful age of 97. I could eat plain chocolate brownies for the rest of my life without any problem.
If I could choose only one dessert…I’d be in serious trouble. My all time favorite, is and always will be, delicious, warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies. I’d could live off of Reese peanut butter cups forevvvver! ;)
My mom makes homemade pineapple upside down “ice cream” cake. But instead of ice cream she uses pudding. For the crunchies it is golden oreos. The cake is so fantastic and delicious I could eat it all day every day!!
