This post doesn’t involve baking from this weekend
but there’s something pretty sweet at the end I think you’ll like.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Okay, so I’ve been out of town for the last two weekends. First, Chicago for the Home and Housewares Show…
and last weekend somewhere a little bit warmer.
I was in sunny Florida for a weekend conference full of learning and sharing with friends – and a bunch of food and fun thrown in.
Food Blog Forum Orlando. Put on by Jaden Hair of Steamy Kitchen, Todd & Diane of White On Rice Couple, Julie Deily of The Little Kitchen and Dawn Viola.
And sponsored by Disney, Kitchenaid, OXO, Land O’ Lakes, Whole Foods, Le Creuset and more.
The meeting was held at Walt Disney World and it was amazing. So well done. Julie from the Little Kitchen knows how to put together a great event. I was there with a bunch of great speakers. (See the whole group here) Alison Lewis (Ingredients, Inc.) and I spoke at round table discussions on writing a cookbook. I really enjoyed the round table set up because we were able to talk one-on-one with people and that’s much more my speed. I don’t think I’d be very good at getting up in front of a big room of people and talking. There would be a lot of umms and likes and pauses I’m sure.
On the evening before the meeting, we had a beautiful outdoor reception at the Grand Floridian. My sweet friend Jenny (Picky Palate) and I met some great girls. Nikki (Pennies on a Platter), Krissy (Krissy’s Creations), Julie (Table for Two) and Rachel (The Fabulous Foodie). Hi girls. Thanks for making Magic Kingdom such a blast!
We hit up a few rides and went on a search for Dole Whip and churros before the park closed. It was my first time trying either. So yum! Thanks for sharing these phone pics girls.
We spent all day Saturday at Epcot where the meeting was held.
It was definitely a special place to have a meeting. Not only were there great speakers, yummy treats, amazing prizes, like stand mixers and refrigerators, Le creusets and more but when we were done, we had a huge world to explore.
If only I could have seen it all. I’ve never been to Epcot. I had no idea how ginormous this park was. Actually, I still don’t know how big it is. But that’s okay because what I did see was perfect.
We had an incredible lunch extravaganza prepared by Disney chefs from the parks and hotels.
I focused on dessert of course.
Lunch gave us all more time to talk.
Here’s Lauren’s Latest, Julie, Krissy and Jenny.
And I finally finally met Elise from Simply Recipes. Yay! Hope we can chat more next time.
Alison and Jenny. Love you guys.
And sweet, sweet Julie. Again, great job on pulling this event together.
On Sunday we had a brunch hosted by Whole Foods. Incredible food means the cameras come out.
See what I mean. That’s Dawn in the back, Julie and Jenny, and then Lindsey (Love and Olive Oil) in the front.
This might be one of my favorite pics from the weekend. It just makes me giggle at how we all do the same thing as bloggers. It’s almost uncontrollable when you have a camera in your hand.
But in our defense, the flowers were pretty cheery.
I enjoyed this weekend so much.
Hi Emily (Sage Recipes) and Kiran (Kirantarun)! It was nice meeting you both. Hope to see you again. And you too Droolius and Simply Southern Baking.
Thanks for a weekend of great memories with old friends and new!

So now the fun part.
I’m having an amazing giveaway today.
If you read last week’s post, you may remember some of the new products I talked about from the Home and Housewares Show in Chicago. One of them was this Kitchenaid mixer in Crystal Blue, the brand new color from the Catalina Collection that I fell in love with.
Well, I met some of the folks from Kitchenaid in Chicago for the first time and and then coincidentally, we met again in Orlando the very next weekend as they were one of the sponsors of Food Blog Forum. It was a surprise to see them two weeks in a row. We talked about how much I loved the brand new color they debuted in Chicago and we thought it would be a fun giveaway here on bakerella.com.
Want to brighten up your kitchen and be one of the first people to own a mixer in this brand new, bright blue color courtesy of Kitchenaid? I know I would. It’s such a happy color. And much more vibrant in person.
Enter for a chance to win this Crystal Blue 5-quart Artisan Stand Mixer from Kitchenaid!
- Just leave a comment on this post here on the website and answer the following question.
- If you could only eat one kind of sweet/dessert for the rest of your life, what would choose? And not just cookie or cupcake, etc. – but what kind if you can? I’m very curious.
- Deadline to enter is Wednesday, March 28th at 5 pm ET.
SORRY, TIME’S UP! Winner Announced Below.
- One winner will be chosen at random and announced sometime Wednesday evening.
GOOD LUCK GUYS!
oh and FYI – the Crystal Blue color should be available for purchase starting sometime in April.
Reading all of your sweet choices are driving me crazy. I have cravings now for way too many treats.
I don’t know if I could pick just one either. But warm brownies and ice cream are always a safe bet for me. No nuts. No whipped cream. No syrup. Plain and simple chocolate and vanilla. Warm and cold deliciousness.
Okay, ready for the winner?
It’s comment #6224 – Leann
Congratulations and enjoy your bright blue baby. Hope you make lots of amazing desserts and smile every time you look at it.
And big thanks to Kitchenaid for supplying the mixer in this beautiful blue.
Mine would have to be pumpkin whoopie pies with cinnamon buttercream filling. Made them in the fall and they were irresistible!
It would certainly have to be cherry cheesecake!
I would have to say Coconut Cake with Coconut shavings on the icing.
Ice cream…but I get the choice of one mix in. : )
Triple berry pie- I love that gorgeous crystal blue color. Czimrn@aol.com
Apple pie….yum!
One dessert that I would have to have would be something with chocolate, mocha, hazelnut ALL mixed together.
Thanks for this AWESOME giveaway. What a BEAUTIFUL mixer!!!!
I will definitely have “Brigadeiro” for the rest of my life. It’s a brazilian desert. It’s made of condensed milk with chocolate and butter. All the ingredients go to the pan ultil reach the point where they can be rolled up and then passed in chocolate sprinkles. Incredible! You guys should try one day!! :)
Pound Cake. My favorite to make and eat currently is a cream cheese pound cake. I would love to win a mixer. I have always wanted one!!
Hmmm just one dessert, that’s really tough! BUT I would have to go with a pillow cookie (I made yours and omgoodness!) That way I could have the both of best worlds; a chocolate chip cookie AND an brownie! ;)
Warm, gooey Chocolate chocolate chip cake, with a scoop of ice cold ice cream on top! :)
Desserts are my main course, so choosing one is hard! But I would have to go with my aunt Myrtle’s apple cake, with freshly harvested apples off the tree and topped with a penuche frosting and served warm with a dollop of whipped cream. YUM!!
I would choose to eat chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Yum!
Chocolate chip cookies – Yum!!!
Wow, that’s is one tough choice. I will have to choose ” Tiramisu “. It’s just so delectable, and makes me happy when I bite into it. Mmmmm I can just picture it now ;)
Anything with nuts and chocolate….the greastest duo ever known!!
Love you Bakerella :)
I would have to say bonfire smores. Simple yet fun to make and not to mention DELiCiOUS!!!
Oh wow this is difficult. lol. Warm chocolate chip cookies on vanilla ice cream with chocolate and caramel syrup.
Chocolate chip cookies. Hands own, no question.
Oooh, Creme Brulee from Nordstrom Cafe :) It is my splurge on a crummy day when nothing else works. Yum. Heaven in a dish!
When I go to Chicago I always go to Vanille’ for their vanilla macaroons. I usually don’t like macaroons because there so sweet but I could live on these. The vanilla pops in your mouth and it’s all I can think of. I never share them and my family knows I will go ape on them if they do. Could eat them all day for the rest of my life.
Only ONE dessert? Then, it would have to be a classic chocolate brownie, yumm….
My moms homemade fruit pies .. Any one of them!
Vanilla thumbprint cookies would have to be my one dessert. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would definitely choose white chocolate macadamia nut cookies! I love all dessert but these are a true addiction for me. Haha!
I think it would have to be salted caramel ice cream for me… Although I might change my mind after a few months of nothing but that. If I could add hot fudge sauce, that might change things though!
Chocolate Chip Cookies. Yum!
wow, I am so not sure I can pick a ‘one and only’ dessert. I think I’d go with chocolate cupcakes with mocha buttercream frosting – but may be that’s because it’s the most recent thing I baked. I do love my Mom’s cheesecake though… what a dilemma
: )
Mine would be white chocolate and cranberries cookies!
Strawberry shortcake!
My eternal dessert would be homemade M&M cookies! I love all desserts, but this is one that I could never get tired of eating.
Coconut Cream Pie
A chocolate frosted mint brownie!!! What fun adventures you are having too!
It would be creme brulee, hands down. Something about that crunchy burnt sugar and creamy vanilla awesomeness that just makes me swoon.
Right now I’d have to say mint creme pie (like french silk, but it has a layer of mint in it). I’m sure if I had to answer this question again next week I’d give you a completely different answer :)
Well this is easy. My aunts chocolate chip cookies. Or wait, I make a mean chocolate Texas sheet cake that is to die for…ok. I say the Texas sheet cake. Because it is amazing.
Only one? Not fair! I guess I would have to pick strawberry and cream puff pastries with nuts. It’s light and so yummy!
Hershey Kisses! Frozen, of course!
It would have to be apple pie with pecan crumb topping! Yummy! Thank you or all the wonderful recipes and posts.
Bake it a Great Day!
Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
would have to be frozen peanut butter pie
So impossibly difficult to choose, I love pie, but it would be so difficult to live without Texas Sheet Cake.
I would eat my recipe for deep, dark & dirty cuppys !!! :)
Ps…. LOVE that blue… It IS a happy happy color !!!
Brownie ala mode! With chocolate chunks in the brownie and chocolate soft serve as the ice cream. Although I do love a good banana pudding :)
Mine would have to be pumpkin whoopie pies with cinnamon buttercream filling. Made them this fall and they were irresistible!
I am in the beginning stages of remodeling my kitchen and have been contemplating ideas and color schemes. Would be so fun to plan my kitchen around this awesome mixer! :-)
If I could only pick one dessert, it would be a delicious cake from our local bakery. They make an awesome raspberry filling. That’s what my hubby gets me for my birthday every year…white Litty’s cake with raspberry filling..delish! Even though I’m a definite chocolate girl, I can’t pass that up…EVER!
anything with caramel on it… yum!
My favorite dessert would have to be cheesecake, but narrowing down the flavor would be tough. Oreo, Peanut butter cup, plain with strawberries, there are just too many wonderful choices! But if I had to just pick one, I would probably go plain with strawberries on top.
I would have to say good old fashioned cream puffs made with real cream and covered with chocolate on top! MMMMmmmmmm…..now I have to go make them and a few other nummes after reading all of the comments:)
This is a tough question since I am usually a cookie monster but lately I have been into baking all these different flavorful cupcakes. If I had to choose one, it’d have to be chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes with non bake cookie dough inside, cookie dough frosting piped on top with a mini cupcake placed right on top of the frosting (reese’s with the cookie dough frosting and sprinkles) MY NEW FAVORITE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD TRY! Xo
It would have to be Gooey nutella brownies, a wonderful mix of chocolate and creaminess. YUM!
I would be just as happy to be there enjoying that great looking event. The best part is that it seems you had an awesome time… winning will be nice, since I’m planning to start selling cupcakes..:D
Although I love a simple chocolate cupcake with vanilla or buttercream icing, if I could only eat one dessert for the rest of my life it would definitely be Friendly’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream!!!!
If I were only able to eat one dessert for the rest of my life , I would have to choose..Tiramisu :)
Brownies. But not just any brownies – the recipe my mom made when I was growing up and the one I continue to make now. It’s so good, I refuse to try another!
Picking just one dessert is like trying to pick your favorite child… I can’t pick just one!!! I would have to say chocolate chip cookies and toasted marshmallow milkshakes (from Good Stuff Eatery!) are probably my top two!
For me it would have to be a moist chocolate cake with a chocolate frosting and some vanilla ice cream on the side.
I have a chocolate allergy, so my go to is apple pie. It would be mine (sorry for the hubris but mine is great!). 1/2 cup of just right chopped walnuts, a mix of Ida Red and Jonathon apples, and using only cinnamon and nutmeg from Penzey’s. Basket-weaved top crust. Uh-oh, now I want pie.
Warm, melt in my mouth butter croissant
What a great color, I love it!!
My favorite dessert is the Foret Noire chocolate, cream, cherries… wonderful!!
If I could only eay one sweet for the rest of my life, A) I think my quality of life would significantly decrease and B) I would have to choose Chocolate Covered Strawberries- yum!
A no-brainer for me….my mom’s Chocolate Delight…you know, the one with the crust made from flour, butter and chopped pecans, topped with layers of cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar, chocolate pudding layer, and whipped cream or cool whip on top with chocolate curls or cocoa sprinkled on top. I used to request this instead of a cake for my birthday!
If I had to pick one dessert it would have to be brownies. Nice and fudgy!!
Without a doubt……..my mom’s Lemon Meringue Pie! Oh my goodness it’s amazing! She made me one for my birthday and I ate the WHOLE thing (by myself) in two days. (I didn’t know that pie could taste so good for breakfast! YUM!!!!!)
Chocolate No Bake Cookies ?. A favorite since I was a kid!
Yum! Chocolate Molten Cake.
I would eat good dark chocolate and that is it!

Anything chocolate and fudgy…probably a warm brownie!
A phyllo filled with walnuts, cinnamon and brown sugar-deeeeeeelish!!! BTW, you are so awesome Bakerella and I do appreciate your giveaways!!!!
OMGosh That is one pretty mixer!
Ok so the one sweet i would have to have would be a super chewy gooey fudge brownie with walnuts. No frosting, and baked in one of those pans that makes lots of edges. If I was allowed to I would make it ala mode with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream. mmm….yum!
I would eat brownie/oreo/mint chip ice cream dessert. The BEST!
I’d have to say peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream!
this is such a tough question! if i had to live with only one dessert, it would definitely be creme brulee….with nothing on it.
Coconut Cupcakes!
Wow, what a pretty color!!
I guess that my favorite sweet is probably boring but if I had to choose just one, it would be a plain old chocolate chip cookie. I know! Right!!? That is it. I always seem to come back and make these not matter how many other yummy things I mix up!
Thanks for the give-a-way!
Only one dessert, that’s tough. I love sooo many desserts, but I would have to say cheesecake. I have the best recipe for cheesecake too. But I would use brownies for the crust and sprinkle crushed Oreos on top to add just a few other faves!
Creme brûlée :)
I would have to have oatmeal cookies. I know its not the sweetest of desserts, but its the perfect balance to me. The softer the better!
I love fresh fruit tarts on a base of pastry cream and glazed with a Grand Marnier apricot glaze. Yum!!!!
This question is waaaay harder than it should be, haha!

I would eat pumpkin pie without a doubt!
This would surely look nice in my countertop :-) Love it! So very nice of the Kitchen Aid people to have this as a giveaway. YEYYYYY!!!
Favorite sweet that I would eat if I could every single day for the rest of my life would be Leche Flan. I grew up eating them and I love making it for friends and families. Only thing is that I would probably OD from it if I have it every day. LOL!
I would have to say brownies w/ chocolate chip cookie dough on top. Had those last week and they were to die for!

Brownie. It sounds really dull, but it’s the only sweet craving I can never withstand for any length of time….
If I could only eat one kind of sweet something for the rest of my life I think it would be earthquake cake. My grandmother and mother make it, and it has a little bit of everything in it. It is FABULOUS!

Oh, definitely tiramisu! I love that stuff!
Hmm, that’s a hard one! I think I would have to go with this cake I make that’s a strawberry and cream cake. Vanilla cake layered with stabilized whipped cream with strawberries mixed in. The filling is so decadent, that no frosting is needed, just a sprinkle of powdered sugar on the top. Yum! So good!
I would be a double fudge chewy brownie with walnuts and raisins. Good old fashioned comfort goodie.
Mine would be simple… Famous Chocolate Wafers and homemade whipped cream. My mom has been making them since I was little, and they always hit the spot.
My go-to dessert would have to be fresh, warm cinnamon buns, with a cup of great coffee to go with it as well. :)
