No, I haven’t taken up sewing. (Not yet anyway.) These adorable little buttons are all candy.
And, umm… they are like handmade.
Not by me, but remember my crazy talented, cupcake fanatic friend, Julie?
She made them for a friend’s baby shower using a fab tutorial from Bake it Pretty.
They are just about the cutest things I’ve ever seen.
The tutorial even includes a pdf for the labels so you can print them out at home and make your own packaging.
Julie made yellow, pink, green, orange and blue buttons with colored candy melts.
Just melt the candy and pour into a button mold. Let them dry and pop them right out.
Place them in small plastic bags and attach the labels. Just fold them in half and staple them together.
Or, if you’re crazy like Julie, then you make the labels work with your own wooden custom candy button display that your awesomely talented husband built for you.
Yeah, I’m sucking up in case he reads this and wants to make one for me, too.
So, instead of folding the labels in half, you can fold them in thirds. Two-thirds in front and one-third in the back so you have enough room to use a hole punch on the labels without messing up the graphics. And then just use a little double-sided tape to attach the labels to the bags.
Easy and like I said… cute as a button.
Julie also made these onesie sugar cookies for the shower. I’m gonna work on her to get this recipe because they were really good.

Geesh, that’s a HARD one! It is soooo much fun to make the goodies….especially with my 3 girls. Making them look good, is nice when you have a special party, or are giving them away. BUT, little ones can’t always do that. So, I’d have to say making them, as the time and the memories I make with my daughters is much more enjoyable, and valuable.
I like making the treats cute over eating them. Even when I make goodies I don’t usually eat much of them! I spend most of the time trying to make them cuter!

I definitely prefer making my treats look pretty… just sitting down with a piping bag and carefully topping each cupcake, then seeing a full box of my completed work… that’s my favourite part!
I’m definitely more into the baking than making them look pretty, however, since my family and I are catering my wedding in June, I have to work on making things pretty, too! :)

It depends on what kind of mood I’m in, but usually if I’m taking the time to bake I want it to be pretty. Sometimes I’m just in the mood for some sugar and I don’t care what it looks like :).
I love trying new recipes for sweets, but making them look pretty is so fun! That is definitely my favorite part of the process…when it works, sometimes I have disasters, but that’s just part of the fun!

I like making them look pretty! I think presentation is 90% of the battle. If it looks like it tastes good, then people usually think it does. If it looks like a mess, they are less forgiving on the flavor. Of course, one would hope it always tastes fantastic–but you never know what tricks your oven will pull!
Baking them – I usually eat half of them before I get around to making them pretty! Exception: Christmas! I love decorating Christmas baked goods.
I love to make them look pretty ,I think, better than making them. But it’s a pretty hard decision, because I love to make them also. If I could just stay home and do nothing but bake/cook/create I would.

Well, I’m not very skilled at making sweets look pretty (yet! I’m practicing!) but I’d still say that’s what I prefer.
I won’t lie, I mostly enjoy eating them. Mine never look “cute”, so baking them is my final answer.
Definitely baking is the best part for me because I have so much fun doing that . If I could make it all look like a masterpiece that would be great, but absolutely not a necessity in my house. :)

I eat all of my sweets right out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla (Blue Bell) ice cream.

I uses mixes and pre-made whenever I can. The fun is to make the people go “wow” when they see them. If I can accomplish that when they eat them too it’s twice as nice!

Baking…love the pretty stuff but I just don’t the patience!
For me it’s the baking. It’s all about bringing together ingredients that are nothing (i.e. flour) and turning them into a delicious brownie or bread. After a stressful day, there’s nothing like beat the heck out of some eggs and making a cake. Most of the time I don’t even eat the goodies!
I love the baking process but making them look pretty is the most fun part besides eating them of course.
I looove decorating. I sometimes use shortcuts in premade store cake mix or something, just so I can get to the make-it-pretty part!
