Okay… finally, the post from last weekend. My camera never did wake up by the way. But I did manage to get all the photos off using a friend’s card reader. Yay! Unfortunately, no built in card readers on my printer or computer… Boo!
And, I would have posted this last night, but I spent the evening at Pioneer Woman’s book signing in Atlanta. Fun! Fun! More on that soon. Thankfully, I did have a working camera with me for that. A brand new Canon Digital Rebel XSi that I borrowed. It’s nice having generous friends. But, I kinda wish I hadn’t started using it. I might not be able to give it back. Bigger screen, More megapixels. And I’ve convinced myself the photo quality is far superior. It is. I know it is. Maybe my camera will be unfixable. Is that a word?
Anyway, here’s the goods or goodies from last weekend.
It’s coming up on Christmas, so I wanted to make some decorated sugar cookies. But I didn’t really want to make traditional Christmas shapes. So instead, I used a cute little cupcake cutter I recently bought. I also went with a less than traditional color scheme and chocolate sugar cookies to help make the colors pop.
I love sugar cookies. Too bad I love them more than they love me. I’m still trying to perfect my piping. I will not give up. I will have non-lumpy lines one day.
These were two of the better ones.

See …… Okay, I’m kidding. I kid. These are the good ones. Well, the better ones anyway.
It helps to plan ahead when you work with royal icing. Draw out the colors you want for borders and the colors you want to fill with in advance.
The cookie recipe is from the book, Cookie Craft. Get a copy if you have any desire to learn how to make these kind of decorated cookies. It’s jam-packed with tips and tricks.

Well, after having 2 little boys (2 years and 7 months) we found out 3 months ago we were pregnant again! HUGE shock … but a blessing. Then we found out we were havings TWINS! We were scared to death but beyond excited. We found out yesterday that we lost one of the babies. My heart broke … and now I am beyond worried about our other miracle baby. So, what do I want for Christmas? To carry this precious baby full term with no problems and for him/her to be healthy in every way!

I was going to ask my hubby for the Martha Stewart 24 pack of glitter, but then I saw the movie “The Blind Side.” I came home and told him I did not want anything. i’ve been getting more and more swayed by the ice cream/bbc style of clothing these days (though i haven’t acted upon it). i was thinking of some dorky oversized spectacles, a fedora, and some nike dunks… because i love that paired with a flannel and skinny jeans (ahahaha! see?! i’m actually never all that into current styles, but it just really appeals to me…).

I want my husband to get the keen job he’s going after, the one that will allow us to get out of the red and him to do what he wants to do. I don’t even mind that we’ll have to move, or spend a month or two not seeing each other much during the transition. Totally worth it.
However, jobs don’t take up much room in Santa’s sack, so if he wanted to, I’d love a spinning wheel of my very own.

Besides the power of super speed (I would like to be a super hero named Speed Woman, or maybe Zip Girl or something more entertaining if I could have a creative moment), I want a book shelf to store all my kids toys and books that are currently stuffed in clear plastic bins and stacked on the floor the polar opposite of zen! I have already picked it out…I know I have been a good girl, hopefully Santa was paying attention.

All I want for Christmas is some snow boots… it’s a little silly to live in Denver and not own a decent pair of snow boots.
I want more baking supplies for Christmas! I’m asking for an apron, some piping tips and some pans.

Sadly, I’ve been saying all I want for Christmas is a new sewer line. I didn’t actually think I’d get it. Turns out I am.
Now I would like to add to that. I would like a new sewer line, and also a new leather handbag.

I kind of feel like I already got my gift. I was able to convince my husband to donate some money to a local charity! Feels so good to give!

I just want to feel non-guilty from having a Christmas list that contains actual things. There will be none of that (again) this year, but maybe next year things will be different.
I want to spend time with everyone I love. I really enjoy buying gifts for people and had a hard time coming up with a wish list for myself this year. I’d really love a new camera (I have a little digital point and shoot right now that my children have practically destroyed…I’m considering bringing out my old film rebel just to take decent pictures again!).

Very cute cookies! I bought those cookie cutters for my sister…they are too cute. As to what I want for Christmas? My dear sweet but squawking newborn to not be colicky and for 6 hours of uninterrupted zzzzzzs. Ahhhhhhh, a girl can dream.

I want camera gear. A new 70-200 lens would be AWESOME, but I’d totally be excited beyond belief to get a shooting umbrella or a new fun camera strap.
