Christmas and some cookies

Okay… finally, the post from last weekend. My camera never did wake up by the way. But I did manage to get all the photos off using a friend’s card reader. Yay! Unfortunately, no built in card readers on my printer or computer… Boo!

And, I would have posted this last night, but I spent the evening at Pioneer Woman’s book signing in Atlanta. Fun! Fun! More on that soon. Thankfully, I did have a working camera with me for that. A brand new Canon Digital Rebel XSi that I borrowed. It’s nice having generous friends. But, I kinda wish I hadn’t started using it. I might not be able to give it back. Bigger screen, More megapixels. And I’ve convinced myself the photo quality is far superior. It is. I know it is. Maybe my camera will be unfixable. Is that a word?

Anyway, here’s the goods or goodies from last weekend.

It’s coming up on Christmas, so I wanted to make some decorated sugar cookies. But I didn’t really want to make traditional Christmas shapes. So instead, I used a cute little cupcake cutter I recently bought. I also went with a less than traditional color scheme and chocolate sugar cookies to help make the colors pop.

Cookies

I love sugar cookies. Too bad I love them more than they love me. I’m still trying to perfect my piping. I will not give up. I will have non-lumpy lines one day.

Cookies

These were two of the better ones.

Cookies

These … not so much. But squint and they’ll look better.

Snowflake Sprinkles

See …… Okay, I’m kidding. I kid. These are the good ones. Well, the better ones anyway.

Mess

It helps to plan ahead when you work with royal icing. Draw out the colors you want for borders and the colors you want to fill with in advance.

Cookies

The cookie recipe is from the book, Cookie Craft. Get a copy if you have any desire to learn how to make these kind of decorated cookies. It’s jam-packed with tips and tricks.

Or maybe you’ll win this.

Cookie Stuff

Yes, the original Cookie Craft came out with a mini Cookie Craft Christmas book.

Christmas Craft

Also with recipes, ideas, and tips. It’s very cute. And small, which you know I like.

Cupcake Cookie Cutters

You’ll also get this cute 2-piece cupcake cookie cutter set. Love it!

Cupcake Stencils

And some cupcake stencils. You can use these on cookies, too.

Cake Tester

A cupcake-shaped cake tester. This totally unnecessary utensil was too cute to pass up.

Mini Cupcake Spatulas

And so were these mini spatulas. I bought all the goodies (except for the cookie book I picked up at the bookstore) from Crate & Barrel if you want to look them up. I like finding cute things. Hope you like them, too.

Stuffed

And it all comes stuffed in a sparkly stocking.

Enter to win it all.

  • Just leave a comment on this post and tell me what you want this Christmas. Big or small. Silly or Serious. Let’s share.
  • Me first… I want to spend time with all my family. Laughing. Hugging. Eating. And I want to take lots of pictures of them with my brand new, big, shiny camera. Yeah, that sounds good.
  • Deadline to enter is Wednesday, December 9 at 7:00 pm ET.TIME’S UP!
  • Winner selected at random and announced sometime Wednesday evening on this post.

Good luck.

Winner.
We have a winner. And it’s a high number this time.

#5935 – YAY CAROLINE! Hope you like the stocking full of stuff and hope you get that immersion blender, too.
cookiecraftwinner

And everyone else that entered. Thank you for sharing your Christmas wishes. I’ve smiled and cried multiple times reading through them. Some really important ones out there. I hope you get them granted. Hugs to you all.

  167. I wish for the black cloud that has been following me for the last five years to go away. And of course, the little gift collection you have there!

  168. I have an awesome camera (canon dslr) that I want a new lens for – one that has major zoom and macro features.

  169. I want to win the stocking full of goodies! and a new camera too….gonna have to wait for that one until next year! I would like a new pair of pajamas. I think that’s do-able.

  170. I want to spend time with my whole family and have everyone enjoy themselves and the gifts that they get!!! To some it seems silly, but it really makes me happy when I can get someone something that they want.. Especially after stressing over being able to get them the perfect thing!!!!!! I know if I win, I will give the whole set to my best friend who brought me to you and Pioneer Woman!!

  171. I’d love to get the purse I’ve been longing for all year… oh wait… I am getting it! (love my husband!!!!) But I would also like to get those cupcake shaped cookie cutters. You should develop your own line of products — I would buy them and put them on my Amazon wishlist so that others would want them too!

  172. I’ll be honest, I already bought what I wanted, but I did put it under the tree and am struggling to not use it until after Christmas. I wanted a new Cuisinart food processor. I needed a bigger one, so I go the 11 cup size. Can’t wait to use… but I will wait.
Oh, and a new sofa is next on my list. We’ll see if Santa can squeeze that down my fake chimney since I live in a state where we can only have gas fireplaces put into new homes.

  173. what a beautiful contest!!
for Christmas?? I want a vacation with my boyfriend!!!

  174. Your cupcake cookies are adorable, the mini-gingerbread man is a sweet touch, so are the mini-snowflakes. Everything that you make is adorable! My younger brother had a massive stroke last December, and what I wish for is for him to keep getting better. My wish is also for my family to be healthy and safe. Thanks for the chance to win these goodies, Michele

  175. I want peace…. peace in my heart… peace in my soul….peace around me….. I need peace….

  176. Bakerella,
For Christmas I want to learn to make good cut out cookies. I am terrible with the icing. I have been using canned frosting (how shameful!). I just keep making cake pops!
I am 7 weeks pregnant and I must learn to make cute cookies before I have to start sending them in for birthdays and holidays!! I realize that this is a long time away but I am a planner and I want to know that I know how to make cute cookies!
I also (obviously) want a happy and healthy baby in July!!
I love your blog – you make the cutest things!!

  177. Employment for my husband before he starts any more home improvement projects.

  178. ALL I WANT FOR CHIRSTMAS IS THAT STOCKING! I really want to make cookies now. Wow. I love it!

  179. Really, I want nothing. But in my unpractical thinking a camera or two would be nice, a house, and furniture in it :}

  180. love these cookies! i just made the turkey cake pops for thanksgiving – you are so creative! i would like to just have a relaxing time with family – and a few new books to read :)

  181. A fun time with all the family and friends coming over to my house–and hopefully a deliciously yummy dinner!

  182. More than anything, I just want to have a good Christmas with my daughter. I separated from my husband on Thanksgiving last year and feel like the holidays were just chaotic for her. I would just like to have a nice, peaceful day with her.

  183. For Christmas I would like a fun night out with my hubby and I would really love a LOT of snow to come falling down in the heart of Los Angeles the week of Christmas!

  184. I want to get pregnant. We’ve been trying since April and it’s not happening… I’m asking for a fertile 2010! :)

  185. I would love to get some gadgets to make decorating cookies easier.I love decorating cookies but just do not have the tools to do it. I will have a new kitchen and would like to be able to really get into cookie decorating with my grandma and my two girls.

  186. I would love to have my husband home this Christmas, but he is at the Firestation, again. Instead, I think I will go for something small…like World Peace! LOL

  187. Honestly, aside from the obvious time with my family, I would love, love, love, love a new camera.

  188. I want a pretty apron with my name printed on it and have more time to spend with my family and friends. Merry Christmas everyone!!

  189. All I want is for my husband to get a decent job. After nine months of unemployment and two years of under-employment, I don’t think that’s unreasonable to ask!

  190. I would love an iphone for Christmas…a new camera would be great too!

  191. I want to eat and eat and eat all the yummy cookies without worrying about my hips and my waistline!!

  192. I want a Nintendo DSi. I know it’s for kids but I’m a kid at heart.

  193. I would like to wish for making time to do things I intended to do all these last years, fixing the photo albums, enjoying a dinner out with friends, finishing my small paintings ~ just to be able to keep up with all my previous wishes!

  194. ………. all I want for Christmas is ……. a vacation on a sunny beach, tropical palms, sparkling blue ocean, a comfy chaise, and a cold pitcher of pina coladas!

  195. For christmas this year, all I want is to find out I am pregnant. ;)
P.S I love love love these cookies & everything else you do!

  196. I want to spend time with my family and friends (the hubby already bought me a new Nikon and Mac so I can’t ask for too much more! :) hehe)

  197. I would like for my husbands and my finals to go well…and as soon as those are out of the way we can enjoy lots of yummy treats and family time! :)

  198. I want to have a happy, healthy family…..and perhaps a kitchen aid mixer!

  199. I want to see the looks on my girls faces when they open their presents…they’ve both been hassling me for a Nintendo DS for 8 months, and the hubby and I (with a little help from Santa) are finally delivering the goods. I may be more excited than them…I get such a kick out of doing stuff for them!
