Okay… finally, the post from last weekend. My camera never did wake up by the way. But I did manage to get all the photos off using a friend’s card reader. Yay! Unfortunately, no built in card readers on my printer or computer… Boo!
And, I would have posted this last night, but I spent the evening at Pioneer Woman’s book signing in Atlanta. Fun! Fun! More on that soon. Thankfully, I did have a working camera with me for that. A brand new Canon Digital Rebel XSi that I borrowed. It’s nice having generous friends. But, I kinda wish I hadn’t started using it. I might not be able to give it back. Bigger screen, More megapixels. And I’ve convinced myself the photo quality is far superior. It is. I know it is. Maybe my camera will be unfixable. Is that a word?
Anyway, here’s the goods or goodies from last weekend.
It’s coming up on Christmas, so I wanted to make some decorated sugar cookies. But I didn’t really want to make traditional Christmas shapes. So instead, I used a cute little cupcake cutter I recently bought. I also went with a less than traditional color scheme and chocolate sugar cookies to help make the colors pop.
I love sugar cookies. Too bad I love them more than they love me. I’m still trying to perfect my piping. I will not give up. I will have non-lumpy lines one day.
These were two of the better ones.
These … not so much. But squint and they’ll look better.
See …… Okay, I’m kidding. I kid. These are the good ones. Well, the better ones anyway.
It helps to plan ahead when you work with royal icing. Draw out the colors you want for borders and the colors you want to fill with in advance.
The cookie recipe is from the book, Cookie Craft. Get a copy if you have any desire to learn how to make these kind of decorated cookies. It’s jam-packed with tips and tricks.
Or maybe you’ll win this.
Yes, the original Cookie Craft came out with a mini Cookie Craft Christmas book.
Also with recipes, ideas, and tips. It’s very cute. And small, which you know I like.
You’ll also get this cute 2-piece cupcake cookie cutter set. Love it!
And some cupcake stencils. You can use these on cookies, too.
A cupcake-shaped cake tester. This totally unnecessary utensil was too cute to pass up.
And so were these mini spatulas. I bought all the goodies (except for the cookie book I picked up at the bookstore) from Crate & Barrel if you want to look them up. I like finding cute things. Hope you like them, too.
And it all comes stuffed in a sparkly stocking.
Enter to win it all.

I want to be able to play with my grandchildren on the floor while my children sit around laughing with one another.
I want to spend a lot of time with my family…relaxing, and eating yummy treats. And, some new board games- to play with my family when we are spending quality time together :)
I want a shiny, new camera too! Just not as big as yours. Preferably a Sony WX1! (It is actually on its way and due tomorrow. It will be so hard knowing it is under the tree until Christmas!!)
Yum! They look delicious, i’m going to have to try these :D
For christmas i would like 5 tickets to wrestlemania 2010 for me, my cousins, my grandma and my aunt. But alas, i don’t have that kind of money, so i’ll settle for an “i’m going to wrestlemania” tshirt :D
I want a scottish fold kitten!
My kids asked me that last week, but they didn’t like my answer. I told them I wanted kids that obeyed the first time, every time, with a joyful heart. They wrinkled their noses and said, “Wouldn’t you rather have a chocolate Santa?” Guess I won’t be getting what I want. I’d rather win this contest.
Sadly, I want another laundry basket. I only have one which means I can’t leave clean laundry in in for weeks on end if I need to do another load. :)
Cute cookies! I want a pair of moccasins…I can’t keep my feet warm in this single digit weather!
I want to spend time with my family… and I’m looking forward to holiday baking!

I’m just excited to see my daughter’s first christmas! Oh and a new camera lens wouldn’t hurt.
I would like to win this contest! And I would like a Kitchen Aid stand mixer (shiny and black, of course!) to help me make all the adorable things on your website!
I am hoping for a pair of leopard Brighton sunglasses for Christmas! They would be something that is just for me. Hopefully they would make me look a bit more fabulous in carpool! Hehe
Seriously, I WANT, no I NEED those cupcake cookie cutters! And a partridge in a pear tree…… :)
love, love, love these (and the pix quality is fine). I would like to have more time to enjoy the crafts and baking I like, to spend it with my grandchildren, to practice piano more, to do more things I like to do, instead of things others wish me to do.
My wish for this Christmas is for everyone to remember the true meaning of Christmas. We get so caught up in trying to find “the perfect gift” for each of our family and friends that we forget “the perfect gift” that was sent for all of us… Jesus Christ. May we celebrate Him this year!!
All I want for Christmas is for my husband to make it home safe from Afghanistan after his year-long tour. Only 2 more months!!!!!! Merry CHRISTmas everyone!!!
I really want a big, beautiful picture to hang over my new fireplace mantel.
I’m not even thinking about Christmas yet – because today’s my birthday! And I can’t think of a better present than a stocking full of fun mini-things!!!
If I could have just one wish for Christmas it would be that our family could be together to celebrate. It’s been a difficult year with the deaths of both of my parents.
i with you…i want a monstrous amount of time with my family….and we all need it this year!!! my nanny died november 15th…just a few weeks ago, so in a sense, we are all wondering how it will feel to all be together…without her. BUT…to feel as a part of her IS with us, we are all making some of her famous desserts. she was an insane cook, so we are just hoping to somewhat do her justice! :) in that sense, we are all looking forward to it! and i also WANT this goodie bag :) i have a two yr old and i like your cute ideas to make for her and her friends at mothers-day-out. by the way, the cake pops are a HUGE hit for her and her lil buddies! thanks for all you do…you inspire lots of fun eating!
i want a Cuisinart food processor!
I am green with envy at your skills. You piping looks perfect to me!
Anyway my wish for Christmas was for a little netbook. But my brother in law’s Dad was just given about 2 weks to live. So my new wish is that he sees one last Christmas with his family.
I want to enjoy putting up and decorating a Christmas tree. We usually travel over Christmas and don’t get to do a tree but this year we are home for the holidays! Oh and a new lens and a flash for my camera!
I would love to be done with everything I “have” to have done several days before Christmas, so I can enjoy the holiday with my family, without being all stressed out and frantic. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and almost 4 year old son. This year they really “get” it, and I’d love to just focus on spending time with them. Playing, making cookies, being silly, and enjoying the season.
I really really want an iphone this year! That, or a baby :)
But winning this contest would be a GREAT 3rd choice!
A big new fancy video camera for making big fancy movies!
The more expensive the better!
I want an organized, unpacked and painted house. I’d also like a coach bag and some new luggage. :)
I’m pleading with my 5 month old for 8 hours of sleep in a row for Christmas!!!
I can not wait to see my children’s faces on Christmas morning after Santa comes! Through a childs eyes, everything is grand!
Happy Holidays!
I want to settle down real soon in Paris.
I would like to have enough hours in the day to actually get everything done BEFORE christmas Eve!
I want to be with my family too. I want to see everyone happy and sharing and loving each other. Oh, and I want music and scrapbook supplies. LOL
I want that cupcake cookie cutter… so cute. I’m known as the cupcake lady at my children’s school. It would be fun to make the kids cupcake cookies… I really want a job for my husband, he’s been laid -off for too long. That would be the best present for our family this year and I’m sure we’re not the only ones.
I can’t wait to see my little boy open his presents on his first Christmas!
This year, we got the best gift of all… A healthy, baby boy! But, I would love a new lens for our camera too. Such a cute post!
I already got it! My kids to all be home for Christmas this year!!
I know it’s cliche, but all I want for Christmas this year is to enjoy the last days of 2009 with my family and the people I love. The holidays can get stressful and people tend to get caught up in the commercial aspect of it. I just want my family and I to enjoy being together.
All I want. . . wait, wait I want a lot of stuff. Well I want for all out Christmas plans to go smooth. And I’m hoping Santa brings me a Epson 4490 photo scanner so I can save all those old photos that I’ve inherited. Thanks
I love this site! Such cute ideas. For Christmas this year, I want everyone to get along.
I’d like a job, a baby, or some really comfy socks. Any of those would be just lovely!!
I want to spend it snuggled up with my boyfriend. tt’ll be our second Christmas, but the first we can spend together.
I love your blog! I would like a winter where we all stay healthy… And to be able to decorate for Christmas without my 1 year old twins touching the tree!! :)
I want a Canon Rebel SLR camera!
I would really like a vacation for christmas. I want to go somewhere warm enough to wear shorts. And of course take my family. It’s been too long since we had one.
I’d love a new camera!! :)
I’m doubting you’ll get to read each and every one of these posts, but THANK YOU! Every time I decorate sugar cookies, I hate piping around the edges. I can pipe decently, but my issue is with the fill in the middle. It’s always a nightmare to get the icing thin enough and somehow manage to get it into a pastry bag without it slopping EVERYwhere. In your pictures I saw the squeeze-y bottle and a lightbulb went on!!! Thank you!!! I’d begun to avoid the outer lines altogether by just using a paintbrush and painting on the frosting and then decorating on top of the nice background, but this new trick will help too!!
I’m excited to go home and get to spend time with my family this year. Also I hear I’m getting a new laptop, which I am beyond pumped for!
i literally just want some peace and quiet…and lots of time to bake :)
For Christmas, I just want everyone to have one. There are so many people out there who are less fortunate than we are, and I think that they all deserve some Christmas cheer. But that doesn’t just go for the less fortunate. It also goes for my family, friends, boyfriend, and everyone else, since I know that holiday stress can sometimes ruin Christmas for everyone.
Everything in that little stocking is so cute! The cake tester is like a little wand for baking magic cookies. :p

How lovely!
What I would like this Christmas is for my husband who has been out of a job since May, right after our son was born and with unemployment being denied to find a job. It has been a hard trying year for us and just when we thought we were almost over the hump we fell back down. On top of all the unemployment, worried about how we are going to pay the bills stuff my brother passed away unexpectedly. It has been a hard hard year and really I want nothing more than for my husband to get a job offer and for us to have a sense of safety again.
Oh and it would really help to win this prise :) Love all your stuff.
Those cookies are way too cute!! I just want to be able to spend time with friends and family.

I’d like to be able to spend christmas day at my parents house this year, unfortunately because of something that happened with my brother- in -law at thanksgiving ( he’s not very nice), I don’t see it being possible, I do however get to spend the day alone with my daughter, so that makes me happy :)
i’m in the majority here, i want a new camera! i took a photography class years ago, and still don’t have my own!

I love those cupcake cookies! It’s a combination of my two favorite things!
Aside from spending time with my mom this holiday season, all I could really think to ask for was new liquid measuring cups. The ones I currently have are not marked properly & therefore, are really of no use!

A gocco printer … I dream …
A new Kitchenaid mixer! I’m all thumbs with the baking, but I love to decorate. Unfortunately, the all-thumbs part of me managed to destroy my old trusty Kitchenaid and I’m making do with a $10 hand mixer! It just isn’t the same!
Hi!!! :D WOW! I really love these cookies! I love anything that has to do with anything you do! lol …Anyway..I’d really love to spend my Christmas with my family, eating, talking, laughing, hanging out stuffed on the couch. :) …no gifts…just family and fun. :) Merry Christmas Bakerella!! :D
I already have plenty of “stuff”. I just want my kids to enjoy their Christmas and think it is magical.
I would love for my family to be able to experience our first white Christmas which I don’t think would happen as we live in Hawaii. But realistically what I would like is a full night of sleep. While pregnant the last two months was hot and uncomfortable so couldn’t sleep, then of course the baby waking every couple of hours and now that she is six months old and not needing midnight feedings, I still get up to pump! Between pumping and her getting up at 3:00 am wanting to play. I am tired at work and request for at least an 8 hour sleep! (Oh and to be able to create what you make)
For Christmas I would like to feel less pain over the death of my mother. I wish for peace.
You always share the most incredible things. Thank you. For Christmas I would like: well, truly to have all of my family together, but that isn’t happening this Christmas, so I would also like to have a movie camera. My grandbabies are growing up, and I’d love to capture them on film. Have a wonderful day.
Valarie

It’ll be my first Christmas with just our little family (we’ve got an almost 4 year old and an almost 1 year old). So, what I want for Christmas is for it to go happily. What do I want? Time to play with all my toys! Excuses to bake cakes and cookies (and someone else to eat them!), To get my daughter’s wedding quilt done- by their second anniversary!
This patent leather purse that I’ve been eyeing. My husband says it’s “hooker red” but I think it’s purty!
This Christmas I would like everyone to be healthy!! It seems every Christmas someone always comes down with something! Also I would like to spend more time with my nephew and niece and the rest of my family since I don’t live that close to them.
Merry Christmas Bakerella!
Family is Christmas nothing more.
Mimi
What do I want for Christmas this year? Warm weather and a bottomless pit of a stomach LOL. My parents are visiting and that means eat eat eat!!!
Maybe some Itunes gift cards and Crate and Barrel or oh Williams Sonoma cards!
I want all those who are suffering (from whatever their hardship maybe this holiday seson) to be granted the Christmas miracle they are praying for.
first off, I’d like to say that if you weren’t such a perfectionist, you’d see that your outlining came off wonderfully :-}
Secondly, I know that what I’m about to say is going to sound like I’m some contestent at a beauty contest, but trust me, I’m NOT!!! What my heart desires most for this holiday season, is “peace” – at least in the families. No drama of any shape, sort or size would be absolutely delightful!!!
The other thing thing which has topped my list for the past few years, was a new sewing machine. My husband took me to pick one out with in a specific price range last Friday. :-D I am GEEKED!!! So-o-o many projects I have in mind to tackle!!
Thirdly – I would VERY MUCH like to win your current giveaway!!! I could go on and on with my reasons why, but seeings how you picked the parts of the package – I’m betting you already know the reasons :-D
Merry Christmas!!!
….Well my family is large. We have 5 boys and one girl adopted. So holidays are always about spreading the moola as far as we can. But, I would really like to have a ring for my right hand. A mothers ring would eb great. I have left all the hints with Santa and told all 6 elves to tell Santa. I hope to see a little box for me under our tree.
Ps. I LOVE this site! I really enjoy trying all the things I see and the children are always picking what they want me to try next!
I want a new lens for my camera, Photoshop and a pair of Uggs!
I would like to spend some time with my mom who’s been sick.
I want to relax and enjoy life!
I want time to do all the things I really want to do: spend time with my little family, cook, draw…
I want to learn how to have time to do all the things I love to do – like baking and quilting – and still enjoy the Christmas season!
All I want for Christmas is a full-time job! I just graduated from college in August and it’s been pretty rough in the real world!
