Christmas and some cookies

Okay… finally, the post from last weekend. My camera never did wake up by the way. But I did manage to get all the photos off using a friend’s card reader. Yay! Unfortunately, no built in card readers on my printer or computer… Boo!

And, I would have posted this last night, but I spent the evening at Pioneer Woman’s book signing in Atlanta. Fun! Fun! More on that soon. Thankfully, I did have a working camera with me for that. A brand new Canon Digital Rebel XSi that I borrowed. It’s nice having generous friends. But, I kinda wish I hadn’t started using it. I might not be able to give it back. Bigger screen, More megapixels. And I’ve convinced myself the photo quality is far superior. It is. I know it is. Maybe my camera will be unfixable. Is that a word?

Anyway, here’s the goods or goodies from last weekend.

It’s coming up on Christmas, so I wanted to make some decorated sugar cookies. But I didn’t really want to make traditional Christmas shapes. So instead, I used a cute little cupcake cutter I recently bought. I also went with a less than traditional color scheme and chocolate sugar cookies to help make the colors pop.

Cookies

I love sugar cookies. Too bad I love them more than they love me. I’m still trying to perfect my piping. I will not give up. I will have non-lumpy lines one day.

Cookies

These were two of the better ones.

Cookies

These … not so much. But squint and they’ll look better.

Snowflake Sprinkles

See …… Okay, I’m kidding. I kid. These are the good ones. Well, the better ones anyway.

Mess

It helps to plan ahead when you work with royal icing. Draw out the colors you want for borders and the colors you want to fill with in advance.

Cookies

The cookie recipe is from the book, Cookie Craft. Get a copy if you have any desire to learn how to make these kind of decorated cookies. It’s jam-packed with tips and tricks.

Or maybe you’ll win this.

Cookie Stuff

Yes, the original Cookie Craft came out with a mini Cookie Craft Christmas book.

Christmas Craft

Also with recipes, ideas, and tips. It’s very cute. And small, which you know I like.

Cupcake Cookie Cutters

You’ll also get this cute 2-piece cupcake cookie cutter set. Love it!

Cupcake Stencils

And some cupcake stencils. You can use these on cookies, too.

Cake Tester

A cupcake-shaped cake tester. This totally unnecessary utensil was too cute to pass up.

Mini Cupcake Spatulas

And so were these mini spatulas. I bought all the goodies (except for the cookie book I picked up at the bookstore) from Crate & Barrel if you want to look them up. I like finding cute things. Hope you like them, too.

Stuffed

And it all comes stuffed in a sparkly stocking.

Enter to win it all.

  170. I would love some sleep. More importantly I can’t wait to see my daughter playing with her gifts on Christmas.

  171. The cookies look fabulous!

I am graduating from college at the end of the month so I am looking forward to going back to my hometown. I want to celebrate the holidays with my friends and family. I always make dessert for Christmas Eve :)

  172. I just want to be able to be surrounded by family during the holidays. There is nothing better than sitting around, eating, laughing, singing, and dancing during Christmas time!

  173. PEACE to be really felt within our family. There has been lots of “drama” lately so my wish is to just have a truly Merry Christmas with my hard working, loving husband and father to my 3 wonderful children; Morgan, Avery & Brycen. For my store bought give, just something unique and from the heart.

  174. such cute cookies! I want a new bedroom set.

  175. I would like to see my boyfriend for Christmas. It has been 4 months and I miss him!

  176. I want a digital SLR camera… but I’m a Nikon girl, so I really really want the D90. I think I have convinced my hubby that since my current Nikon SLR lenses will work with it, I just need the body….. we’ll see in a few weeks how well my persuading has done.

Cute stuff btw… wish I had a Crate & Barrel close to me up here in PA.

  177. Love, love, love your cupcake cookies! I have such fond memories of making frosted sugar cookies with my grandma. I need to check out this book. As for what I want for Christmas I have a new printer on my wish list. Do you think Santa reads your blog?

  178. We have a second house that my husband has been working hard on fixing up so we can put it on the market. All I want for Christmas is for us to be able to get that done.

And possibly a set of stainless steel mixing bowls. Is that too much to ask for?

  179. All I want for Chrismtas is to wake up Christmas morning and see the joy on my children’s faces. I need nothing more than that and sharing Chritmas morning and Christmas breakfast with my family. There’s nothing better in the world than that!

  180. I want some warm boots to get me through this Chicago winter!

  181. I’d love an awesome vacation someplace wonderful!

  182. I want to spend some time with my family on vacation, skiing and skating and swimming. Very cute colors on the cookies! Thanks for the opportunity to win something!

  183. For Christmas, I just want a nice, relaxing day with my family.. I actually have off work this year.. So that’s amazing.. And it’s my 10 month old daughter’s first Christmas, so I’m hoping it all goes well!! As long as I get to see her smiling and tearing open that Christmas wrapping paper in amazement, I think that will be the biggest gift to me! :)

  187. I want a happy healthy baby who comes through surgery better than she went in.

  188. What I want for Christmas……….of course I want everyong to be happy and healthy and end world hunger and of course World Peace!
But what I really want this year for Christmas is a bit selfish, I would love a new puppie…….Either a Yorkie or Chihuahua!

It’s my heart’s desire, this year! Hint Hint Santa!

  189. I just found out I was pregnant. I have my first Dr.’s visit on Dec. 21, I’d like my Christmas gift to be that the baby is healthy!

  190. A new hairdryer. And a relaxing time with my little family.

  191. I have taught cake decorating for 25 years. I recently taught my daughter-in-law how to decorate cakes . I am teaching my 4 year old granddaughter how to decorate. We have 3 generations of cake decorators in the family. We love your cookies!

  192. Pick me! Pick me! I feel like a kid today.

  193. Health..wealth and happiness!!…please.

  194. I want a new camera – one that doesn’t look blurry every time I snap a picture. Ok, maybe I need to lay off the caffeine, but I still want a nicer camera.

  195. I too need to perfect my wavy lines. I need this so I can practice…right? :)

  196. I hope Ashley B (#96) above gets pregnant. What a wonderful Christmas wish for her. I wouldn’t mind every color stamp pad, paper and marker color in the Stampin’ Up catalog. Trick to piping that icing…slow and steady wins the race. Just keep saying that over and over, and don’t forget to breath! I tend to hold my breath when I pipe icing. Happy Wednesday.

  197. crossing my fingers!
