Okay… finally, the post from last weekend. My camera never did wake up by the way. But I did manage to get all the photos off using a friend’s card reader. Yay! Unfortunately, no built in card readers on my printer or computer… Boo!
And, I would have posted this last night, but I spent the evening at Pioneer Woman’s book signing in Atlanta. Fun! Fun! More on that soon. Thankfully, I did have a working camera with me for that. A brand new Canon Digital Rebel XSi that I borrowed. It’s nice having generous friends. But, I kinda wish I hadn’t started using it. I might not be able to give it back. Bigger screen, More megapixels. And I’ve convinced myself the photo quality is far superior. It is. I know it is. Maybe my camera will be unfixable. Is that a word?
Anyway, here’s the goods or goodies from last weekend.
It’s coming up on Christmas, so I wanted to make some decorated sugar cookies. But I didn’t really want to make traditional Christmas shapes. So instead, I used a cute little cupcake cutter I recently bought. I also went with a less than traditional color scheme and chocolate sugar cookies to help make the colors pop.
I love sugar cookies. Too bad I love them more than they love me. I’m still trying to perfect my piping. I will not give up. I will have non-lumpy lines one day.
These were two of the better ones.
These … not so much. But squint and they’ll look better.
See …… Okay, I’m kidding. I kid. These are the good ones. Well, the better ones anyway.
It helps to plan ahead when you work with royal icing. Draw out the colors you want for borders and the colors you want to fill with in advance.
The cookie recipe is from the book, Cookie Craft. Get a copy if you have any desire to learn how to make these kind of decorated cookies. It’s jam-packed with tips and tricks.
Or maybe you’ll win this.
Yes, the original Cookie Craft came out with a mini Cookie Craft Christmas book.
Also with recipes, ideas, and tips. It’s very cute. And small, which you know I like.
You’ll also get this cute 2-piece cupcake cookie cutter set. Love it!
And some cupcake stencils. You can use these on cookies, too.
A cupcake-shaped cake tester. This totally unnecessary utensil was too cute to pass up.
And so were these mini spatulas. I bought all the goodies (except for the cookie book I picked up at the bookstore) from Crate & Barrel if you want to look them up. I like finding cute things. Hope you like them, too.
And it all comes stuffed in a sparkly stocking.
Enter to win it all.
- Just leave a comment on this post and tell me what you want this Christmas. Big or small. Silly or Serious. Let’s share.
- Me first… I want to spend time with all my family. Laughing. Hugging. Eating. And I want to take lots of pictures of them with my brand new, big, shiny camera. Yeah, that sounds good.
- Deadline to enter is
Wednesday, December 9 at 7:00 pm ET.TIME’S UP! - Winner selected at random and announced sometime Wednesday evening on this post.

We have a winner. And it’s a high number this time.
#5935 – YAY CAROLINE! Hope you like the stocking full of stuff and hope you get that immersion blender, too.
And everyone else that entered. Thank you for sharing your Christmas wishes. I’ve smiled and cried multiple times reading through them. Some really important ones out there. I hope you get them granted. Hugs to you all.
I want to spend time with my family! I live about 8 hours away, so it is always soooo nice to see them for the holidays!
I would love Uggs. I would love an iPod touch. But setting those material things aside, I will be happy that I get to spend it with my family. I will be thankful that my husband, myself and three kids are happy and healthy. And I will be thankful that we live so close to each side of our family that it is easy for us to spend the holidays with both.
Merry Christmas Bakerella!
I want to spend time with my family…lots and lots of time!
I want to enjoy the holidays with our family before my husband deploys next year. I actually want him not to deploy since we are having a baby this spring, but I think the government trumps Santa. So I’ll be happy with enjoying the holidays together!!
Wellllll………….since the economy has taken a dive I had to give up my housecleaners. I would LOVE to get them back. Even just for a short while. Or, I would LOVE for the economy to turn around so I can have them back forever! I miss them dearly. My house misses them dearly. I have a big house to clean and I would rather poke a hundred needles in my eye!
Oh and I would love to win this stuff so I don’t have to go out and stimulate the economy buying things I shouldn’t!!

All I want for Christmas is for my children to be happy and know how much we love them. No one wanted to leave their friends and schools. I sold all of my baking and decorating supplies to help with the move. If I won this I will be so happy, baking is where I find my peace. Merry Christmas everyone, may God bless you.

What I want this Christmas will take a miracle but I’m holding on to hope. All signs point to a cheating husband who denies everything but I have no solid proof….All I want for Christmas is to put this behind us, move on and make our marriage stronger! We have a 2.5 year old little girl who needs her parents together! My family is my life (could I do it on my own with her, certainly but it’s not what I want)!
Your sugar cookies are too stinkin cute, every Christmas I baked sugar cookies with my mother and sister and this year my daughter is old enough to enjoy the decorating so this is our tradition plan for this weekend!
This is going to be a bummer answer, but we just got our 21-month-old son out of a week-long hospitalization for a massive, septic bacterial infection. I didn’t see my 7- or 5-year-old the whole time. We are so thrilled to have our family together at home, and everybody healthy, that all I want is for things to continue this way. I told my daughter that all I wanted was to have my happy, healthy kids around me, and she said, “Hmm. Well, I want toys!”
I want one thing for two purposes. Money.

For Christmas, I’m stumped. I want really big things to finish the house remodel, but those can’t really be wrapped and put under the tree. I ended up asking for a slicer/shredder attachement for my mixer. Lame, I know, but I’ve always wanted one.

I recently made princess crown sugar cookies for my 5 y/o’s party….I tried using rolled buttercream that I cut out with a cookie cutter. Hmm…lets see. Supplies, supplies and more supplies! When my daughter & my fiancee asked me what I wanted for Christmas, it was an easy answer. Fondant impression mats, cute cupcake liners, gumpaste tools…etc. Baking & decorating keeps me sane & very very happy! Love the cookies Bakerella!
I want the weather to cooperate, so that I can travel to Kansas City to spend Christmas with my daughters. The cookies are adorable.
Love the cookies, they are soooooo cute. And, for Christmas I really want a job….have been out of work since May.
A longer Christmas break!! =) I’m a teacher, and hosting family over the break means less couch time for me in between semesters….I’d love more couch time to relax and prop my feet up. And enjoy the time with my family.
