Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie… Oh My!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

There’s nothing like a good chocolate chip cookie… unless of course, if it’s super-sized and more than an inch thick. So when I found this recipe from my aunt’s Nestle Classic Recipes Cookbook a while back, I knew it was a must-make. Serve it warm, with ice cream, with syrup… and with caution… because you’ll definitely want another slice.

  1. Made this and it was delicious!!

  2. I still love this pie. I come back to this recipe every time I need to bring a dessert anywhere! My mouth is watering thinking about it. Or maybe because I just licked the spoon…

  3. This was really good. I made it tonight and had with Vanilla bean ice cream. YUMMY.

  4. It would be nice if you could convert these ingredients to european measurments, in grams and mililiters…

  5. I would love to try this!

I have never used ‘cups’ before and always weigh my ingredients…does anyone have the ingredients in Ounces?

  6. It says to use a baking sheet if using previously frozen shell. That means a standard old cookie sheet right?

  7. Has anyone tried this without the nuts? My son loves everything but hates all types of nuts and I would love to make this for him if I can without the nuts!

  8. Surpriiiiise People!

Guess What? I used a spring pan (the kind with the latch on the side).

    NO CRUST NEEDED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crustless!!!!!!!!!!!

It came out great. My husband wanted the whole pie to himself last night. He begged. Too bad for him he had to share with me.

Topped it with my homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (yep it’s green)
that I made with my Kitchen Aide Mixer and Ice Cream Bowl Attachment (Bed Bath & Beyond). Use the coupons. So easy to make.

Think about it…….choc chip cookies don’t have a crust and the cookies stay together when baked.

  9. I never get it out of the pan, before everyone grabs a spoon and digs in, This should be called “eat out of the pan cookie”

  10. Made this yesterday. Was awesome, everything last piece was devoured!

Warm out of the oven, with ice cream and a home made Nutella chocolate sauce. nom nom nom

  11. If I made it without the nuts, would I have to add anything to it to fill that void??

  12. It’s 6:44 AM!I’m going to make it right now
Looks like something to die for!

  13. It’s awesome with a graham cracker crust. My friends named this cookie crack pie. We had three spoons eating it out of the pan :)

  14. I make this for my clients when I bring them dinner the first night they move into their new home. I get rave reviews each time!!! The bonus part – I make 2 at the same time and one goes for our family – one goes for their family, so my family l.o.v.e.s. when we have a new client moving in, they say “we can already taste the cookie pie”.

  15. I have a ‘top chef’ competition at youth and I want something to blow their minds – with this I KNOW i am going to win!!!!!!!!!

  16. I always make this with an Oreo pie crust. It’s sooo good.

  17. I just made this and it was not good at all. Any idea what went wrong??

  18. love it

  19. I made these in 24 mini pies….. YUM!

  20. choc. chip pie

  21. I made these this week for a work party and they were a huge hit! Instead of a whole pie, I made individual pies and topped them with whipped cream. Definitely worth doing again and I might just play with the add-ins (butterscotch perchance?). Thank you for a keeper of a recipe!

  22. Why put it in a pie crust? Just follow a normal chocolate chip cookies recipe and put it in a pie pan/plate and cook a little longer. I just made it like that yesterday and it was delicious!!

  23. Me and my son made this today and it was delicious, this will definitely be made again for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My family loved this pie.

  24. I found your pie on Pinterest and made it this past weekend. It turned out perfect! I added a tsp of vanilla flavoring and used black walnuts instead of pecans. I took it to my grandparents’ house for Sunday dinner. The whole family loved it and suggested I make it for Thanksgiving this year. Thanks for sharing such an awesome recipe. Now I’ll just peruse your site to see what else I can try!

  25. This looked so yummy and I found it on Pintrest. I thought it looked so good I featured it on my Top Pins of the Week Post! Come on by to see the post!

  26. I bake all the time and when I saw this recipe I was soooo excited to eat it! Unfortunately it did not turn out the way i hoped:( first off, the batter was not very good at all. It seemed like something was missing. It was just too bland. Secondly, I only baked it for 48 minutes because it was starting to burn. I also used graham cracker crust instead of pie crust. I think it would be better using the regular chocate chip cookie recipe and then putting in a crust and baking it!

  27. Just made this recipe and it was a HUGE hit – even my husband likes it and he isn’t a big sweets fan. SOOO GOOD

  28. @Virali – cornstarch or silken tofu are two options…

For more research, Google “egg replacement in recipes”. =)

  29. I just made this, and it tastes AMAZING! But I didn’t have enough pastry for a big pie, so I made the same recipe but in a small tart dish that is about 3 inches across. The middle of the pastry base was still uncooked. Did I do something wrong?

  30. Hey… if i want to not use egg. wats d substitute i can use in this recipe??
It looks really yum.. wana try it… bt need sum other replacement for egg…

  31. was wondering if I could just use 2 of the regular sized graham cracker pie shells bought from the store, everytime I go they are out of deep dish!

  32. Oh my goshhhhhh! I am so extremely happy that I found this recipe :D First of all…. I loveeeee chocolate chip cookies and this is an xxxxxxxxl version, so what’s not to love about this. Made this pie twice in a row. Both times with a chocolate short bread base since they dont sell the deep-dish pie shells in Holland.
My mum loved it so much that she licked her plate after every piece. And I made a deal with a good friend, she got a piece of this pie and I would get some of her mums bami. My friend said she was in chocolate heaven. (that was also the reason why I made this twice in a row…we ate the first pie before I saw her again)
So thank you very much for this recipe. Will make it this again and again for sure

  33. This was delicious but I think I’ll add some salt and vanilla next time.

  34. This was pretty amazing, though mine didn’t look as good as yours! The only thing I wonder is if it might have been better if I had added a tinge of salt. I was a little surprised and had to double check that the recipe called for none. I don’t know, something about the contrast of chocolate with just a tinge of sea salt makes my mouth water. I also want to try the graham crust next time as my girls are just not fond of regular crust.

  35. I made this for my family last night. I topped it with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and candied pecans. My children ate 80% of it last night and hubby ate the rest in the middle of the night. I guess I’ll have to bake another one today.

  36. I added a quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract. It turned out really amazing.

  37. oh, i added a whole bag of chocolate chips, too, and it made it extra gooey and chocolately. :) unreal!

  38. just made this for the roommates for a treat and half of it is gone! i used a graham cracker crust instead of a traditional pie crust and wow, what a combination of textures. it is SO good with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top and is the perfect way to satisfy that chocolate-sweet-tooth craving (i imagine that it would be less sweet with a regular pie crust but we all love graham crackers so much that i just had to use one). unbelievably easy – just one bowl and a few tools dirty – so i will make it again and again!

  39. im drooling!!!!!

  40. Hi Bakerella,
I am planning on making this for Thanksgiving on Thursday but I have a few questions…
Should I make it Wednesday and let it cool or Thursday morning?
Also, if I am using a frozen pie dish should I bake it before adding the filling and then bake again or set the pie dish outside for a while and then add filling and bake once?

I hope you get the question in time :)

  41. omg that looks like heaven in a pan what more can we ask for its one thing to have a choco chip cookie and its another thing to have that glorious pie i really do think i just gained 5 pounds no really

  42. i added a WHOLE bag of chocolate chips and instead of nuts i added coconut…SOOOOO GOOOD! (:

  43. I have become completely addicted to your site over the past few weeks! Thank you for all of your amazing ideas.

I’m planning to make this pie for an upcoming holiday but since I’m not a huge fan of pastry, I want to make it in a chocolate graham cracker crust. It’s a 9 inch, 6 oz pie crust which i assume does not qualify as “deep dish.” Would this recipe work if I split the batter between two graham cracker pie crusts? If so, should I reduce the cooking time by half?

    Thank you!

  44. I was wondering how many people it serves?

  45. Will it throw the whole recipe off to not use nuts? We don’t care for them.. Might be a dumb question but since it calls for a whole cup, I wasn’t sure…

  46. This looks so delicious, I am going to try it out at some point over the summer. Now that I have graduated I will hopefully have a nice long stretch of time to bake before I have to go back to university.

  47. I come back from time to time just to look at this pie. It’s so beautiful. nomnomnom

  48. I’m making this tomorrow! :D

  49. I made this pie for my family and they loved it! It was extremely chocolatey.. just the way we like it :) I love your site and plan on trying out more of your recipes!

  50. Omg this pie is disgusting… I baked it exactly as the recipe called for and it turned out perfect, I thought I had done a really nice job… until I tasted it. There are no words to describe how gross this pie tasted. It was bitter and sour. I wouldn’t even feed it to my dogs. Well, maybe it is because I don’t like chocolate…

  51. OMG. This looks amazing. I am making this immediately.

  52. What type of pie crust goes best with this, butter or shortening? I’m going to make the crust and want to know which would be best! Thanks!

  53. I pulled this guy out of the oven after 80 minutes and it was still soupy inside :( I just turned the temp up and put it in for longer so we will see. I really hope it will work out because I tried a bite and it was sooo goood even though it was soupy.

  54. I made this pie yesterday for my co-workers and it was devoured in less than an hour. I will be making this again!

  55. Hi Bakerella, I love your website! I want to try this recipe but I am from Spain and I don’t understand what does “1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell” means, is it just an unbaked cake? thanks!

I have your book is absolutely great, thanks a million for your recipes!

    Mireia

  56. This is definitely on my to-do list :) Just looking at this made me ill to my stomach

  57. Just wanted to let you know that I finally made this recipe for a Christmas get-together with friends last night and it was a BIG HIT! And it was so easy to make, too!

I just love your blog. Keep up the great work, and Merry Christmas! :)

  58. i finally got around to baking this on Sunday but did not serve it till Monday, I popped it in the oven with foil over it Monday to heat it up and served it with ice cream!!! I only got a bite from my boyfriends but it is fantastic! After 4 guys and a monday night football game I was left with an empty pie plate… just the way I like it!!
