I want to show you this new book from Williams-Sonoma.
It’s filled with delicious photographs and tons of recipes including …
Pretzels.
Pop Tarts.
And pies to name a few.
Are your taste buds warming up yet? Mine sure are. I could hardly stand to flip through the pages of this book without wanting to make everything in it.
Home. Baked. Comfort. Yes, please.
And guess what, else.
This book also includes recipes from several bakeries and bloggers across the country.
Like Smitten Kitchen, Tartine, Cannelle et Vanille, Flour, Baked…
And more.
Maybe even one from someone you know.
With all this yumminess, it was really hard to decide what to bake first. I flipped through the book several times before I finally decided.
When I saw that one of the featured bakeries was from Minneapolis, I knew right away that was the one to try since I’ll be in Minnesota and at Williams-Sonoma in about two weeks for a book signing. (Details here.)
And now, I may just have to stop by this bakery, too.
Salty Tart. Cute name.
And her recipe for Chewy Chocolate Meringues is delish.
And easy.
And better yet, only needs four ingredients.
Finely chopped bittersweet chocolate.
Five tablespoons cocoa powder.
Sugar and egg whites.
This photo kinda makes them look like egg yellows though.
Whisk together the egg whites and sugar over – but not touching – simmering water until dissolved.
Remove from heat and beat the egg whites until stiff and glossy.
Then fold in the chocolate and cocoa.
Scoop out the batter on parchment lined baking sheets and bake away.
You want to see cracks. That’s part of what I love about this recipe. No need to try and make anything look perfect. These are already perfectly imperfect.
And oh so good.
They are highly addictive, too. I don’t want to tell you how many I ate before I even finished taking photos…
…but let’s just say that this photo is missing quite a few.
I’m so glad I tried this recipe. I’ve never made meringues before because they never really looked all that appealing to me. But wow! These chocolate ones will be made again. And again.
Thanks Salty Tart.
Adapted from Home Baked Comfort. * I omitted the cocoa nibs because I didn't have any on hand and the cookies still came out beautifully.
Chewy Chocolate Meringues
Ingredients
Instructions
Notes
The recipe says it makes about 2 dozen meringues, but I ended up with about 60 using a 1.5 inch scoop. I also used a scale to measure my ingredients exactly.

Favorite Halloween candy?? Candy!!
Reeses’ Peanut Butter Cups (the big ones) AND Candy Corn Pumpkins (only by Brach’s, of course)! Mmm!!
I think it would have to be candy corn. I mean, it’s hard to choose just one but that’s the first one I think of when I think of the Fall season. YummY!
My favorite Halloween candy has always been the pumpkin shaped Resses cups! So much goodness.
Twizzlers!
Candy Corns!
snack-sized milky ways!!
Hershey’s and Kit-Kats. All that hard candy is just not worth eating to me. :)
candy corn!!!!!!!!
Dots!
I love candy corn and Twix bars!
Soft caramels! I always seem to eat half the bags before I make caramel apples.
This book looks fantastic! My favorite Halloween candy is the little fun sized Twix bars. Yum!
**unpopular opinion** I’m not the hugest candy fan, I’d much rather have actual dessert…like cake, cookies, cake pops, etc:) Think those’ll fit in my bucket? But, if I had to choose, I love Lindt chocolate truffles….mmmmmm…
Reese’s peanut butter cups! Oh, and candy corn :).
I love 3 Musketeers, but I eat them all year round, so it isn’t much of a Halloween candy. I remember trick or treating as a little one and my favorite candy was ANYTHING I got FULL SIZED! Now that was a treat!
Growing up I always liked the smarties in my bag on Halloween. It was nice because my siblings never wanted them so I always had extra. I still like them today…:)
My favorite Halloween candy is Butterfingers! Actually, most anything but Candy Corn! That would be my husbands favorite! ha!
Definitely Twix. I steal them from my kids’ trick-or-treat bags when they aren’t looking. I’m doing them a favor really…too much chocolate isn’t good for them. :)
Most definetley Haribos!!
I love them especially when i go trick or treating!
<3
OMG Candy Corn of course!!
That cookbook looks amazing and congrats on being featured! My favorite ‘specialized’ Halloween candy would have to be candy corn. I really only allow myself to eat it around Halloween-time. It keeps it special :) But my favorite to get while trick-or-treating (or taking from the bags of kids I trick or treat with) are Milk Duds. Yum!
This books looks perfect, love it. I can’t just choose one Halloween candy because I love them all. I do love caramels and anything with peanut butter inside.
I love anything chocolate, Halloween or not!
I really like candy corn, but can’t have candy anymore as it hurts my sensitive teeth! In which case, I love pumpkin seeds! they taste great baked at home, it takes a while to scoop them out of a fresh pumpkin but it’s worth it ! :)
Hands down – candied apples :) especially if sprinkled with some chopped peanuts.
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups! I love them. I ran a daycare for many years. The older kids would always bring me Reeses the day after Halloween.
I love all candies, my favorites may be kit-kat and M&M’s
That book looks so great!!!!
Favorite Halloween candy is probably the pumpkin shaped peanut butter cups. However, the best Halloween treat is by far homemade popcorn balls…just can’t be beat!!
Halloween hold so many great memories for me; homemade costumes and soooo much candy. My friends and I would always end up swapping candy like it was baseball cards .The one candy that I loved and getting couldn’t get enough of was Bit-O-Honey!

I love mini – peanut butter cups for Halloween. Another favorite is candy corn mixed with peanuts. This cookbook looks fabulous — fingers crossed that I win :). Thanks.
My favorite Halloween candy would have to be candy apples or caramel apples. But it has to be granny smith apples dipped in the caramel or candy! So Yummy!!!
Snickers, or pretty much anything chocolate, who am I kidding. I have to wait until the last second to buy our halloween candy or I eat it all, or I have to grudgingly buy some that I hate so Im not tempted.
PS: Do you have any plans on book signings here in Bakersfield? and if not what book store do I need to harrass to talk you into coming! :)
Green cotton candy posing as toe jam:)
Today I’m eating my favorite Halloween candy, York peppermint patties, and the inside is orange. Perfect.

My favorite Halloween candy is candy corn. Whenever I see them, they always remind me if Halloween. They also remind me of the fun times I had trick-or-treating with my sisters before we all grew up and went our separate ways.

I love Jelly Belly’s sour fall mix….the little sweet and sour pumpkins are the best!
I don’t think I have a favorite Halloween candy. However, my favorite Halloween (fall) treat is Caramel Apples. Yum!!
I love Halloween! The dressing up, the smell of cider, candy and the fall leaves. I think its one of my favorite holidays!! Candy, that’s a hard one! I love several, usually go for the twizzlers first. But I think my favorite is carmel apples that are dipped in nuts and popcorn balls (remember those?). That just brings me back to when I was a kid and trick or treating with my sister in my plastic costume. Awe the memories!!
Thanks for sharing another delish recipe!
Candy Corn is my favorite halloween candy!
M&Ms and pumpkin bread!
“Maybe even one from someone you know.”
That statement made me laugh! :P My favorite Halloween candy is Snickers!!! I would always raid my sister’s stashes and “borrow” their Snickers pieces. LOL!!

I love the mini boxes of milk duds and mellow creme pumpkins!
I was fortunate to grow up three doors down from my Grandmother, and every Halloween she made the most amazing Popcorn Balls and wrapped them up in plastic wrap. It may not exactly be candy, but to me it was the best thing I could ever get on Halloween! hmmm, I guess I think I just got the inspiration to get my blog started again. Thanks. : )

Have you ever tried candy corn & peanut m&m’s together? Cause you should! The perfect ratio is 2 candy corns to 1 peanut m&m. Just sayin….
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups hands down! There was also these chewy taffy pops that I can’t remember the name of that got stuck in your teeth. Coffee Crisp was another favourite, but they always disappeared after my parents “inspected” my trick or treat bag!
