Have you heard of these chicks before? I hadn’t until a few weeks ago. It was really kind of a weird little coincidence. I was in the bookstore picking up Pioneer Woman Cookbooks for a recent giveaway and my eyes locked in on a book called The Farm Chicks in the Kitchen. Loved the title and the design, but because I was over my limit on books for the day, make that month, all I did was thumb through the pages really quickly before I made myself leave.
But then, just two days later I received an email from none other than Serena, one of THE Farm Chicks. Seriously. Out of the blue. Two days later. Does stuff like that happen to you, too? Strange coincidences? It does to me all the time.
(Hmmm… The Pioneer Woman and The Farm Chicks. That’s kinda weird, too. Okay, I’m moving to the country.)
Anyway, it was a really short email message that said she wanted to send me something.
Curious, I said, ok. (I like surprises.)
And boy was I surprised when several days later I received a package full of all of these sweet, sweet gift tags.
Some with little cakes.
And others with sweet messages.
Plus there were all these fun recipe cards. (Forgive me for the extra blurriness. I was playing with different settings on my camera.)
Some even had Christmas themes.
I had no idea they had all these cute products plus a cookbook. Impressive.
Speaking of their book, I had to run out to the bookstore and get it right away.
Wish I had seen this before trying to make a pie last week. Could have come in handy.
The Farm Chicks love some pie. And the book has several yummy ones like this.
Plus, it has fun, do-it-yourself projects throughout. I’ve never made scones, but if I do, I want a scone cozy to go with them. Cozy scones. Yes. I want my scones to be cozy. Adorableness. Cuteness doesn’t quite cut it here.
Hi Serena. Thanks for sending me all the fun stuff. I love it.
Especially the necklace.
Oh, I forgot to tell you guys about the necklace. Well, it has a cake on the front of it and it’s just darling.
See.
And, since Serena sent me two of them… well…
Would you like one? Then, we can both look super cute, adorned in cake.
I’ll even throw in some of my gift tags and recipe cards, too. I’m a sharer.
(necklace, recipe cards and gift tags)

And, here’s the winner…
Wow, wow, wow, I am going to need the rest of the year to go through all of your favorites. So many things I like, too… especially fudge and so many that I have never even heard of. You guys should take a look through them if you get a chance and want some ideas for something new. Thank you for sharing. And the winner is… #2670… That’s you Heather. All you have to do to get your prize is send me some of your dad’s Keeflies. Just kidding. But really, I just looked those up and they sound great.
I’ll admit it – I LOVE me some Claxton Fruitcake at Christmas time. I know most people don’t dig them, but I definitely do. Something about the sweet, chewy fruit and crunchy pecans wrapped in a dense yet moist cake… my mouth is already watering!
love homemade M&M cookies!
peppermint bark!
peppermint bark bon bons!
I love home made mince pies with chocolate. As a kid we always left them out for Santa. Yum!
I do ALOT of baking. (hey i bought a 20 kg bag of icing sugar last year) And with all the baking my sweet tooth gets a bit of a workout. But my very favorites are Empire Biscuits and King Squares…I can eat these straight from the freezer. Sooooo yummy.
Mincemeat tarts…..especially warmed at breakfast…yum. However my 12 year old daughter and I now make a raspberry trifle for Christmas Day, it is a great new tradition!
sk.smith@sasktel.net
Cookies any and all Christmas cookies
My favorite holiday dessert is cheesecake. I make it and it is usually in high demand around Christmas and New Years’ Eve.
Thumbprint cookies from my grandmother’s old recipes that she left us. Complete with homemade green and red icing for the holidays.
This is a tough one — but if I have to pick just one thing it is peanut butter cookies with Hershey Kiss centers (peanut blossoms I believe they are called — and they call to me!)
My family traditionally celebrates with a Norwegian Christmas-Eve dinner, finished with Krumkake for dessert. It’s a flat Christmas cookie, often rolled into a cone and filled with raspberry cream. It’s a long process to make them,(which inevitably ends in my burnt fingers) but it’s worth the effort, especially for a special occasion.
I love sugar cookies! especially when you personalize them with royal icing and food writers!
Oh, I love those little cookie you make with the squeeze press thing. I have no idea what they are really called. They get pressed out in little stars and other shapes, and have sugar all over them. I wish I had some now.
Sweet Bakerella,
My favorite Christmas time sweet is none other than YOUR Oreo truffles! They make great little gifts for friends and they are my signature for parties and roller derby events!! I bake A LOT for my roller derby team (hence the name The Tell-Tale Tart) and would love love love love those little tags!
Thanks for all of your great ideas!
The Tell-Tale Tart #21
So cute! My favorite Christmas treat is shortbread…. hot from the oven!
I like fruitcake — just kidding. My favorite Christmas treat is the homemade frosting made from flour, milk, shortening and sugar that goes on Red Velvet Cake.
Am I still in time to enter?!? (It’s after 7pm here, but 7pm GMT so…) I ADORE the Farm Chicks stuff!
My favourite Christmas dessert is Christmas Pudding of course. Not a fan of bought ones, but I make my own – Nigella Lawson’s recipe.
My favorite Christmas sweet or dessert has to be the cookies we make for Santa! So much fun and then good to eat after the little ones go to bed!
TOO CUTE!!! My mommy makes homemade pralines (pronounced PRAH-leens) every year. They are fab. And I love her.
My favorite sweet is actually two – Poppy Seed & Nut Rolls from my grandmother. Yum!
These are SO adorable!
My favorite christmas sweet would have to be my grandma’s apple-cranberry pie! DELICIOUS! I look forward to it all year!
Thanks for the chance to win!

PEPPERMINT-BARK CHOCOLATE CAKE – with extra Girardhelli peppermint bark chocolate sprinkle on top. My father-in law’s fresh made strawberries-filled crepes…Great stuff!
My Christmas favorite gotta be homemade fudge!!
Red Velvet Cake Balls and Oreo truffles are now my family’s favorite holiday dessert. And they quickly became our signature Christmas gift – people tell us all year that they can’t wait for the Bell’s treats – that is just the neatest feeling!
Oh, and yes, that scone cozy is beyond cute :)
I am a fudge girl, and anything with cherries and chocolate put together:)
Kristad@roadrunner.com
home made dried cranberry and walnut chocolate crunches, so easy quick and delicious! and you can experiment with a ton of different stuff.
Oh just one… I would have to say peppermint bark. Anything Chocolate and peppermint is great to me. Oh wait, I really like dark chocolate covered Cherries too(do you think we can do those on a stick =), and Egg Nog. Christmas is too hard for me =)
German chocolate cake…delish!
I love cut out sugar cookies with the kids and now grandkids…nothing better for the time spent together!
I would have to say cheesecake would be my favorite dessert. Also anything that has to do with chocolate and peanut butter might tempt me as well.
Peanut Butter Fudge. I’m not sure if its the memories of my Grandmother always having this out at Christmas or the fudge itself…Let’s just go with both! Big fan of PW and the Farm Chicks.
I LOVE Gingerbread, all forms, cake, cookies… EVERYTHING!!! How nice of you to share your lovelies!
I love a peppermint dessert my mom makes. She uses thin chocolate wafer cookies and layers it with peppermint cream. The cookies soften so it’s easily cut and served like a pie. It’s a simple, light dessert…and I always find it refreshing amongst the other Christmas food decadence. And I want that necklace!! You can email me if I win…(crossing my fingers now) candace.little@gmail.com
My favorite Desert at Christmas time is DUN DUN DUN chocolate guinness cake! I make it every Christmas for my family. :]
Recipe: http://www.grouprecipes.com/3405/chocolate-guinness-cake.html

My favorite holiday dessert is a chocolate rum cake topped with nuts and a rum glaze. It is scrumptious, and it is so easy to make.
peanut-butter-bullseyes. Heaven in a bite sized portion!

Cajones819@gmail.com
Christmas morning coffee cake. Nom nom nom.
Favorite sweet is something my mother used to make; she called them Martha Washingtons…..not sure if that’s a legitimate name but they were made with evaporated milk and nuts and dipped in chocolate (there were likely a few other ingredients as well but that’s all I remember). All I can say is BEST. DESSERT. EVER.
My favorite holiday treat is the peanut butter cookies with a kiss on top. I don’t know why but I usually only make them around Christmas time.
My favorite Christmas dessert is Mexican Flan and peppermint bark!!!!
My favorite dessert is the cinnamon rolls my sister makes.
my moms sugar cookies…my favorite ever.
I love to make batches and batches of snickerdoodles to give as presents!
Homemade chocolates!! OOh, I can’t wait to start dipping!
My families favorite holiday dessert is, chocolate chip pumpkin pie, I got the recipe from a Betty Crocker recipe book. I made it for the family once and every Christmas now I have to make it or they are really bummed. My favorite sweet is Trinadad’s, I know you can get them anytime of the year but I make myself wait until Christmas so that it really seems like a huge treat then.
A plain ol’ chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting.
Why?
Because my birthday is Christmas morning at 12:15am and my parents used to wake me up at 12:15 am with a candle in a chocolate cupcake and sing happy birthday to me.
I do not think I could possibly pick just ONE Christmas treat! I love so many but some favorites are shortbread and fudge, but only if it is creamy and soft and not too sweet!
I’m super simple…Puppy Chow!
My favorite Christmas dessert is definitely our homemade peppermint stick ice cream.
I love homemade fudge at Christmas!!
I know it’s going to sound traditional and boring, but my honest to goodness favorite Christmas treat is Pecan Pie. It’s my absolute favorite, served a little warm with vanilla ice cream or just cold on a saucer, whatever…and Christmastime is the only time I allow myself to bake and eat it. (And trust me, I eat plenty of it…there is not “Oh, ok…just one little slice” nonsense happening here!)
When I was a kid, we didn’t have a lot of money, and Christmas was the only time we got something like this, so to me, eating it feels like nostalgia, I guess. Whatever it is, I love, it makes me happy, and I thought you should know.
Happy Monday!
chocolate croissants!
hmmm…. my personal favorite is my triple berry trifle, but what i always get asked for is peppermint chocolate bark. (luckily both are super easy!)

My mom makes the best homemade caramel. It’s to die for! That’s definitely my favorite Christmas treat.
My favorite dessert for Christmas dinner is Banana Cream Pie, old school style no pudding from boxes. And my favorite sweet I usually only make at Christmas time is Ho-Ho Bars, just to good, and date pinwheel cookies for some reason I only seem to make these at Christmas time. But I do love to make chocolate chip cookies, my DMIL’s Sugar Cookies and brownies this time of year too! I love holiday baking.
I love homemade sugar cookies with buttercream frosting. My husbands would be anything pumpkin…..

Decorated sugar cookies yummy!!
My favorite sweet at Christmas is anything with chocolate, but especially chocolate covered nuts. Sweet and salty-can’t be beat!
BTW-I tried your cake pops for Thanksgiving and they were a huge hit! You’re a cake genius!
My mom’s anise oil cookies…don’t crave them any other time of the year, but MUST have them at Christmas!
I LOVE peppermint bark… chocolate layers with peppermint white chocolate on top. Mmm… AND, our family tradition is to make Braided Swiss Bread. Our family isn’t big on the sweat treats during the holidays, so we make yummy, totally “non-fattening” bread. With butters. Lots and lots of gooey, yummy butter. :)
my frosted sugar cookies…which i will go to bat for being the best cookies ever. :D
Love, love, love, cheesecake and cut out sugar cookies!
One of my coworker’s wives makes a slew of Christmas cookies every year (I love her). My favorites are the sugar cookies with Hershey’s Kisses baked inside! Ooh, and eggnog! The best!
One of my favorite holiday treats is peppermint bark. I plan on making some this weekend, in fact!
My favorite is tiramisu! Mmm…
Cheesecake!!! Any cheesecake!
Even after obtaining a culinary degree and cooking professionally for several years I still love the simple goodness of sour-cream cut out Christmas cookies. Nothing says Christmas like they do. Love.them.
My favorite Christmas treat is by far the simple Christmas cookie. The decorated sugar cookie. I loved making cookies with my mom on Christmas eve for Santa when I was a little girl.
I love Christmas cookies and all the other fun goodies that people only seem to make during the holidays. I think they should make them year-round! Thanks for the great giveaway!
ottone@pacbell.net
My favorite treat during Christmas are pumpkin rolls! Yum!
My favorite christmas treat is Muddy Buddies! It is corn and rice checks, coated in peanut butter and chocolate, and then rolled in powdered sugar. I am drooling a little just thinking of it!
My mom’s Shortbread Cookies with a hint of mint in them! Mmm…she cuts the dough in half and uses food coloring to make half red and half green, then she flattens both halves and rolls them together one color on top of the other and it makes the cutest, most colorful swirl pattern on each cookie :) It just puts me in the Christmas spirit, talking about it!!! Merry Christmas Everyone!! :D

Wow. I’m not sure what my favorite sweet is, but one of the ones I make that gets the ravest reviews each time is my eggnog pudding pie. I love topping it with a lightly sweetened brandy (or bourbon) whipped cream to make it look extra fancy!
Really good, creamy hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows, whipped cream, and a peppermint stick :).
My favorite Christmas sweets are the honeycakes that my grandma used to make. Yummy little cookies with honey (obviously) and anise seed in them, cut in decorative shapes and with a simple milk & powdered sugar frosting. Mmm. I may have to make some when I get home from work!
The farm chicks are awesome! My favorite Christmas dessert has to be the sugar cookies, so many memories of making them with my mom who I rarely get to see during the holidays since we are a military family and are usually across the country or even across the world sometimes. Happy Holidays Bakerella!
My favorite is the whipped shortbread cookies that I only make at Christmas time. I also love Christmas pudding with a warm rum cream sauce too.
cmartin02@sasktel.net
I LOVE homemade fudge. Yum!
shootthemoon.lizbell@gmail.com
We have a tradition of making and decorating iced sugar cookies on Christmas Eve. These are left for Santa (and me) to eat. :) THANKS
I love Christmas cookies. There are some pretty nifty ones and I’ll be making a bunch this weekend. They are simple, sweet and traditional. Love them!

Divinity.
Weird . . .but I really love lemon bars. And Starbuck’s peppermint mocha coffee!!!
Flan and cheesecake. My mom always make it and they’re my favorite!
Rice krispie treats. Every year on Christmas Eve, my mom would wait for us kids to go to bed and then would whip up some rice krispie treats and put them in our stockings. I remember thinking it was so cool that “Santa” knew how to make rice krispie treats! To this day (I’m 27 now) I look forward to getting my rice krispie treat on Christmas morning!
Weaver family caramels.
My in-laws’ sugar cookies. I usually don’t like cookies (I know, right?), but they make the best ones, but only at Christmas! I’m a baker, not an eater (but ONLY when it comes to cookies).
My favorite is classic chocolate cream pie! Yumma!
I love them all, but my very favorite are my sugar cookies. I make them all alike: a holly leaf that is glazed in green. I then make a white swirl over them and put a cinnamon red hot on them for the berries.
My favorite is Natilla which is a sort of baked pudding native to my Colombian heritage with Bunuelos (fried cheese balls). Makes me miss my grandma who @ 90yrs old was still making this for us.
My favorite sweet at Christmas would be any that my children and I made together. Nothing is sweeter.
Pecan pie is my hands-down favorite. The one I make is basic, but my sister-in-law makes one with orange rind. It is delicious.
My stepmom’s iced cookies. They are super simple, made with love and decorated old school. Just lov’em.
My favorite holiday treat is my mother’s Swedish Tea Ring. It’s like a giant cinnamon roll with those candied cherries on top. I look forward to it without fail. This year, she’s going to teach me the ways of the baking Jedi!
I love homemade Christmas candy, the kind made with eb milk, p.sugar butter nuts and then dipped in chocolate!!!
My favorite Christmas sweet is buckeyes! In fact… I think i might make some this week to get into the Christmas baking spirit! yum.
TOO CUTE!!
My favorite Christmas treat/desert would have to be peppermint bark. I LOVE IT! I also love my grandpa’s fresh fruit salad. (he is from Argentina and its summer during Christmas there, he would make a fruit salad with pineapple, bananas, oranges, grapes, and apples….mmmm so yummy!!!) Nothing better after our Christmas feast.
Yup, I love the Farm Chicks! My favorite holiday sweet? Cranberry bars. I think. Unless it’s chocolate pie (made with my Grandmother’s homemade chocolate pudding recipe.)
I love poppyseed bread…yum! I only make it at Christmas time!
lanceandlaceyw@hotmail.com
My favourite Christmas dessert is apple crisp with butterscotch sauce, made by my aunt. soooo delicious
Roll out sugar cookies with frosting are my favorite Christmas treat. I have wonderful memories of sitting around the kitchen table with my brothers and sisters and frosting our masterpieces. I have a favorite recipe that friends and family rave about and way too many cookie cutters for any sane person. Often I will bake dozens and dozens of cookies and invite friends over for a frosting party. We frost, talk, laugh and sample and then everyone takes home what they’ve frosted. It’s a fun way to share with friends.
Peppermint ice cream bars with a topping made of crushed up oreos, butter and hot fudge! Delicious, refreshing and festive.
Gingerbread snow-flakes decorated with royal icing and sanding sugar. Yum!
I just love gingerbread!!

i absolutely love the pistachio pudding with the nuts, marshmallows, cherries etc…my mom makes that every year. That or little chocolate drop cookies that have oatmeal in them. i can’t think of the name but they are delicious!
Eeeeek!! This stuff is TOO cute!!! My favorite christmas treat is Monster Cookies made with red and green M&M’s…so simple, but so Christmas-y and yummy!!

Every Christmas someone in my family always makes these delicious M&M scones. With the red and green seasonal M&Ms :) They are so good, honestly.
My favorite dessert for ANY holiday, including Christmas, are my Grandma’s homemade fried pies. They’re AMAZING! The holidays wouldn’t be complete without them.
Hershey Kiss/Peanut Butter cookies. I don’t know why I don’t make them any other time of year. yum…….
most definately eggnogg cheesecake that my aunt makes.
That book looks AMAZING! I am definitely adding it to my Christmas wish list :)
I would have to say that shortbread is my FAVOURITE Christmas sweet. So simple yet yummy :)
Gingerbread molasses cake with fresh cinnamon whipped cream. A friend gave me the recipe 12 or 13 years ago, and I still make it every year! (She also gave me the lovely William Sonoma pan I now bake it it. She’s a good friend! )
Super duper cute! Hope I win!
I love anything with mint and chocolate together; cookies, brownies, hot cocoa and especially coffee. For some reason it just doesn’t taste right any other time of the year.
wow… my favorite holiday sweet?? kinda hard to choose!! i love the cashew crunch i make for gifts every year,,, but my all-time favorite would probably be the keeflies my dad made when we were growing up… absolutely yummy :)
My two things we always have to do for Christmas ..homeade (no pre-made purchased dough!) cutout sugar cookies & lots LOTS of time decorating & fussing over them. We make many & give to family & friends. Although not a dessert – the other must do for Christmas is a gingerbread house. We are adding a gingerbread tree this year also. The kids really look forward to these two activities so I feel we have established a tradition in our home!
My Grandmother makes little italian doughnuts they are little rings of fried goodness dusted with sugar!! yumm!!
My favorite sweet item at Christmas time is Chocolate-Philly Cheese Fudge (cream cheese – no cook!!). It is rich, smooth, creamy (never sugary) and I make it to keep and also to give as gifts. It is a huge hit! Tastes like an expensive dark chocolate candy shop confection! Melts in your mouth! Yummmm super rich – but you can eat just one and feel like you’ve had something SO special! Nix the heavy fruitcakes (which I also love and make) and other rich and calorie-laden desserts! You can refuse a big dessert and eat just one delectable piece of this fudge without murdering your diet plan! Enjoy!
My grandmother used to make Divinity every Christmas. There is something about the white, fluffy goodness that takes me back to my childhood and Christmas.
Making and decorating sugar cookies with my mom and sisters… an even sweeter tradition now that we all live in separate states across the country!
Homemade roll-out sugar cookies with vanilla or almond flavored homemade butter cream icing on top with LOTS of red hots! I like each bite to have a red hot. Yummy oh baby.

My grandmother’s Apple Spice Stack Cake. It’s amazing and tastes like Christmas.
Well I have to admit that I just love the mint (plain – NOT with peanuts) m&ms that are only available around the holidays.
I must have stashed away an extra bag last year, and came upon them months later. Oh the joy!
But on the homemade side, I’d have to say cookies cookies cookies!!
One of my new favorite Christmas treats is cakeballs.
Bake a cake from a mix, while it’s warm, mix it up with a can of frosting. Use a scoop to form several balls. Put them in the freezer for at least a couple of hours and then dip into melted chocolate or almond bark.
They need a better name than cake balls because they are ALWAYS a hit!
My favorite Christmas treat is a tie between good old pumpkin pie (that’s how we did it in my family…) and Homemade ice cream. Now I’m craving both of those….
My favorite holiday dessery is cut-out sugar cookies with frosting and sprinkles. I get together with my sisters and all the kids and spend the entire day, rolling, cutting, baking and decorating. We around 12 dozen cookies and divey them up between the 3 of us.
I make these chocolate Swedish cookies that are to die for. Someone gave me the recipe with the promise that I would never share the recipe because they are that good. People beg for the recipe. The cookie is an Almond Macaroon with a chocolate mousse filling and dipped in chocolate. They take hours to make and cost a ton, but I only make them at Christmas!
My favorite Christmas dessert would have to be my mom’s sugar cookies. They are enormous and sloppily decorated and super sweet, and I could never in good conscience bake something like that for myself, but they are hands down the cookies I will be asking for on my deathbed.
My favorite Christmas dessert would have to be French chocolate–it’s a really rich frozen chocolate creme that you mix into hot milk. It’s the best, most creamy hot chocolate I have ever had!!!

My favorite dessert is Christmas cookies! They are so fun to make and yummy!
I love homemade hotcocolate around Christmas. Another one of my favorites is Turttle Cheesecake brownies. Yummy. Thanks for the chance to win.
My most favorite holiday dessert is bread pudding. My cousin makes Martha Stewart’s chocolate and cinnamon variety, but, seriously, any ol’ version will do. I love with when the bread is so soaked in custard, you can barely tell it’s bread. Mmmmm.
we make strudel in my family. its the best. as in, we serve it at weddings instead of cake. its the best.
Homemade sugar cookies (my Great Grandma’s recipe).

My favorite Christmas dessert is Paula Deen’s pine bark. It’s made with saltine crackers, caramel and Hershey bars. It’s totally sinful, salty and delicious!
Snowballs!! They are my fav!! Plus getting powdered sugar all over is fun too!
Christmas Cookies, but especially chocolate cherry and divinity(which isn’t a cookie but I eat it like one)
My mom has this recipe for chocolate-covered peanut butter balls (known in some circles as buckeyes). They’re definitely my favorite ever. We usually only make one batch the week before Christmas, but sometimes they don’t last even that long. They are almost too delicious for my own good.
It’s got to be gingerbread biscuits! Off the christmas tree :)
