Have you heard of these chicks before? I hadn’t until a few weeks ago. It was really kind of a weird little coincidence. I was in the bookstore picking up Pioneer Woman Cookbooks for a recent giveaway and my eyes locked in on a book called The Farm Chicks in the Kitchen. Loved the title and the design, but because I was over my limit on books for the day, make that month, all I did was thumb through the pages really quickly before I made myself leave.
But then, just two days later I received an email from none other than Serena, one of THE Farm Chicks. Seriously. Out of the blue. Two days later. Does stuff like that happen to you, too? Strange coincidences? It does to me all the time.
(Hmmm… The Pioneer Woman and The Farm Chicks. That’s kinda weird, too. Okay, I’m moving to the country.)
Anyway, it was a really short email message that said she wanted to send me something.
Curious, I said, ok. (I like surprises.)
And boy was I surprised when several days later I received a package full of all of these sweet, sweet gift tags.
Some with little cakes.
And others with sweet messages.
Plus there were all these fun recipe cards. (Forgive me for the extra blurriness. I was playing with different settings on my camera.)
Some even had Christmas themes.
I had no idea they had all these cute products plus a cookbook. Impressive.
Speaking of their book, I had to run out to the bookstore and get it right away.
Wish I had seen this before trying to make a pie last week. Could have come in handy.
The Farm Chicks love some pie. And the book has several yummy ones like this.
Plus, it has fun, do-it-yourself projects throughout. I’ve never made scones, but if I do, I want a scone cozy to go with them. Cozy scones. Yes. I want my scones to be cozy. Adorableness. Cuteness doesn’t quite cut it here.
Hi Serena. Thanks for sending me all the fun stuff. I love it.
Especially the necklace.
Oh, I forgot to tell you guys about the necklace. Well, it has a cake on the front of it and it’s just darling.
See.
And, since Serena sent me two of them… well…
Would you like one? Then, we can both look super cute, adorned in cake.
I’ll even throw in some of my gift tags and recipe cards, too. I’m a sharer.
(necklace, recipe cards and gift tags)

And, here’s the winner…
Wow, wow, wow, I am going to need the rest of the year to go through all of your favorites. So many things I like, too… especially fudge and so many that I have never even heard of. You guys should take a look through them if you get a chance and want some ideas for something new. Thank you for sharing. And the winner is… #2670… That’s you Heather. All you have to do to get your prize is send me some of your dad’s Keeflies. Just kidding. But really, I just looked those up and they sound great.
my favorite thing to eat on Christmas day is my grandmother’s sour cream coffee cake. it’s moist and delicious, but better then that… it’s a tradition and that it makes it even yummier.
My favorite holiday dessert is pecan praline cookies. My mom was a florist when I was little, and I can remember at her nursery’s Christmas open house every year, I would sit in the back room and eat pecan pralines while I watched her make beautiful Christmas arrangements.. They always had the cookies there around the holidays for the customers. My mom would always let me sneak a few ;-) I could never eat just one! And I still can’t. They remind me of Christmases in my childhood.
Peppermint Bark.
My favorite Christmas time dessert is the cornflake and marshmallow wreaths. They’re so ooey gooey good that they don’t make it out of the bowl sometimes.
bvanleer23@hotmail.com
Any combination of peppermint and chocolate – especially peppermint hot chocolate!

mmm…maybe red velvet cake. Not sure though…it’s too hard to choose!!
Definately Cream Cheese Spritz Cookies. I’m lucky if I don’t eat half the dough before I get all of the cookies made! Thanks – stacey66@comcast.net
Hands down, my favorite dessert at Christmas time is homemade cookies…..not that they’re the best thing I’ve tasted, but because it has become a tradition in my family to bake and decorate cookies. That bit of nostalgia kicks it up a notch!
Fave. Christmas Sweets (in no particular order)
1. Russian Tea Cakes (cookies, really)

My Great-Aunt’s Christmas Log! She’s gotten too old to make it now but I’m going to try to tackle it myself this year if I can find a recipe :)
My favorite Christmas time sweet is a sugar cookie from my Granny’s recipe, it has nutmeg in it, just gives it a little something different.
My favorite sweet to make is popcorn balls. Not because it is fun to hold sticky, flaming hot masses, but it just feels like Christmas. My favorite sweet to eat is probably those ritz crackers slathered with peanut butter & dipped in chocolate bark. YUM.

I love all the miscellaneous cookies I get around Christmastime. I don’t even know what most of them are called, but most of them I never see outside of December.
I love spice cake! My mom used to make it for the day that we went to pick out a christmas tree, so we could come in from the cold and have apple cider and spice cake while we decorated the tree. Now I make it for my kiddos and hubby! I even like the box mix better than my own!
Potica. It is a family tradition from the Yougoslavian branch. It is rich yeast dough with filling of ground walnuts.
My favorite is fudge! and my Mom always made these yummy fruit drop cookies. Red Velvet cake… oh I can’t pick just one!

Especially around the holidays, I love any dessert with mint in it. Mint brownies are in major trouble around me!
I love Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard for Christmas. I better put that on my blog pronto!
clove cookies….my favorite!
My grandmothers homemade apple pie, that I was lucky enough to learn to make from her while she visited me during my study abroad time in Rome. Made for a wonderful holiday season away from home AND now it’s not officially Thanksgiving or Christmas without one! :)
Holy moly! I have to pick just one? Normally, I would pick something rich and chocolatey. But honestly, my favorite Christmas time dessert would have to sugar cookies. Especially since my little men (ages 7 & 6) help me make and decorate them, which just makes them extra special. I would very much love to win, as we’re making all kinds of homemade yummy treats (ever made homemade chocolate syrup – YUM!) to send to extended family this year and they would be super handy.

The BEST Holiday Dessert is Cranberry Cake with WARM Butter Sauce. You secretly want to lick the plate ;-) . I’ve seen grown men scrap their plates absolutely, squeaky clean after eating this. Whew, I think I’ll go dig out my mixing bowl……
I bake tons and tons of cookies (last year it was twelve different kinds) during the holiday season to give as gifts. One of my favorites are Barefoot Contessa’s thumbprint cookies that are rolled in coconut.
Fudge! Tins and tins of fudge.
I look forward to my friends fudge and Bizcochitos. Yum!
Sweet Pies! (Also know as Whoppie Pies). At Christmas time, as an extra treat add crushed candy canes to the vanilla filling in the center. They look wonderful sprinkled with powdered sugar too!
My peanutbutter balls – our holiday favorite. Only available from Thanksgiving through Christmas in the interest of being able to zip up my jeans without squirming on the bed.
Gingerbread people!! the best part for me is decorating them. and of course candy canes. i LOVE peppermint
Snowball cookies and homemade toffee.
lemon merigue pie!
I love my grandma’s homemade fudge but she has passed away and I haven’t had it since…she left me the recipe I did try to make it but I just can’t seem to get it right.
White Chocolate Bread Pudding with white chocolate sauce is my favorite christmas dessert. My SIL introduced us to this yummy dessert and it has been tradition ever since.
agregory113@yahoo.com
Hmmm, this is a tough question, so many good christmas sweets! I’d say peppermint brownies.
Ok so it’s not something I make but my favorite sweet is..candy canes. Nothing takes like Christmas like a nice red and white candy cane :)

mom-made chiffon cake topped w/ almonds.. that is my motivation for studying so i can go home.
German Chocolate cake or Cherry pie :)
Well, this may be breaking the rules but I simply cannot pick a favorite holiday dessert and let me explain – every year (since before I was born) my house has hosted an annual cookie bakeoff. Everyone and their mother is invited (trust me, the kitchen gets crowdedddd!) and we all try new or tried and true cookie recipies. Then we package all of our goodies up – and delivery them to friends and relatives. So my favorite holiday dessert – is the the annual cookie bakeoff!
I have a holiday triffle recipe that I absolutely love to make and eat each holiday season.
If I had to pick just one…….Cheesecake of any kind. Especially my mom’s Hollywood Two-Tone Cheesecake. Can’t wait to grab my fork and dig in, sometime even for breakfast (yikes)
Buckeyes!
My absolute favorite Christmas treat is candy cane cookies. My mom has been making them for as long as I can remember. The recipe comes from a Betty Crocker Cook book. My sibilings and I could ate all the cookies as they’re coming out of the oven SO GOOD!!!
breedaneles@msn.com
My favorite sweet would have to be an old favorite of mine when I was little, despite my mothers attempt at using the silly machine, the cookies always tasted good, despite how they looked. But I liked Spritz cookies, the little shortbread press cookies that you would pump out of the hand held machine and make different shapes. Followed closely by good old fashioned fudge!

I love homemade sugar cookies adorned with all the fixings. LOL. I’m a pretty simple girl. I just love what my grandmother makes but this year I thinking of trying one of my own recipes out on the family. Another favorite is my grandmothers crescent rolls. They are asked by my family every year. The sometimes take a lot of work but they are def. worth it!!
I love fudgy bon bons- they won the Pillsbury bake-off sometime in the early 90s and have been a family tradition ever since!
grace.oedel@yale.edu

I love Cake on Christmas. It’s the best. And doesn’t matter what kind……any cake will do.

I would have to say my favorite dessert for Christmas is pecan pie. My mother in law always makes the individual ones and they are my favorite.
My grandmother taught me how to make divinity one rare visit to our house before Christmas. She always used to send it to everyone in the family, every year. Any time I make it I’m reminded of that special time in the kitchen. I also love to make gingerbread cookies for the same reason.
My favorite sweets at Christmas are Oreo truffles! And I’m really not saying that just to flatter you. ;) I made them for the first time a few months ago, and though I’ve never made them for Christmas before, they have already become my favorite sweet for ANY day. Before that it was probably my carrot cake. But these are SO much better!
2501 – Man I like that number!
My favorite sweet for Christmas…..kiffles…homemade by the “firehouse ladies” – the only way to get them. I can never get mine to stay together but there is something about the ones the auxillary makes…years of practice I guess! I often wonder who is going to replace these sweet old Pa Dutch women when they can no longer make the kiffles and the rest of us never mastered the skill?
I don’t think I have a favorite, there’s far too much to choose from. Pie, cakes, desserts, cookies, brownies, etc…I’ll take one of each!
My favorite sweet at Christmas is dark chocolate on Xmas Eve:)
Grace Duke

Hmm, my favorite Christmas dessert would have to be either eggnog, or buche de noel. Thanks for the giveaway!
Every Christmas my mother makes fresh cinnamon rolls from scratch for breakfast. They are the absolute best cinnamon rolls ever, even better than Cinnabon.
I make a fruit tart every Christmas and a big tray of 15 different types of cookies! I make enough cookies that I can give trays to the mail lady, the UPS man, my neighbors, my daughters teacher, then I leave some at my mom’s and some at my out-laws house! I start baking two weeks before Christmas and go threw a ton of sugar, flour and butter. By the time Im done I dont even want to look at another cookie!! Which is good for my big butt!
I love saltine cracker toffee. Sounds super gross, but it is so tasty and easy! My e-mail is scrappyhappy5 at msn dot com.

I would say the thing I always try to make every year would be the refrigerator cookies from my MIL. They’re pretty simple and taste soooo good. Other than that, I love to experiment with new recipes, and hardly ever make the same one every year. Anything with chocolate, peppermint, or a combination of the two are always winners.

My favorite Christmas dessert is something pretty simple: Boiled cookies. We make these every year around the holiday season!
For me the holidays start Thanksgiving and don’t end until Three Kings Day (Mid-January). So, at my house all you drink is Coquito aka Puerto Rican Egg Nog. Which is made with Coconut Milk, Evaporated Milk, and a few other things. It’s so sweet and you can add alcohol or leave it as is. ^_^
Toblerone Fudge. I make it every year with Whipped Shortbread Cookies and Coconut/Cherry/Chocolate Chip cookies. I tried it this year with a dark chocolate toblerone and even though I prefer dark to milk generally, I have to say in this case the milk chocolate is better. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to make it again. YUM!

I love love love my Grandma’s butter cookies. She passed away when I was very little but we make her cookies every Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Christmas just isn’t the same with out Molasses Crinkles. Yummy!
Nothing says the holidays to me like Peppermint bark brownies! It combines two delicious desserts!
My favorite Christmas sweet is a “sort of sweet” treat. It’s a traditional family recipe called “Empinadas”. They are sweetened beef/pork /mincemeat turnovers with raisins, cinnamon, and nuts (and other stuff but I haven’t been allowed to have my own copy of the recipe yet!). They are a special acquired taste. They remind me of my aunts and mom making them for Christmas with a little adult cheer thrown in for fun!
