Happy Valentine’s Day!
Here’s a super last minute idea or more likely – an early idea for next year. Just something quick and cute.
And if you don’t need any treats, you might want to mosey on down towards the middle of this post.
I made little heart chocolates. Hi.
And packaged them up like tiny candy bars. Too cute. And thanks for reading.
This is super easy. You’ll need a candy mold though. The product number is in the photo below if you want to search for it. I found mine at Cake Art. The squares are 1.25 inch.
And because I have a mini candy coating store growing in my kitchen, I decided to use some of it up for these.
Melt pink candy coating and then using a toothpick, draw heart shapes in the cavity of the candy molds. Let it dry and then pour melted chocolate candy coating over the top. Mercken’s is what I used for these. Fill the cavity enough so it reaches the corners without overflowing and then tap the mold on the counter to settle and even out the coating. Repeat with the remaining cavities. Place in the freezer for a few minutes to set and then pop them right out of the mold and place on wax paper. Repeat and repeat until you have what you need.
Of course, you make these even easier and unwrap existing candy bars to use.
Now the fun part. I had these pink foil wrappers that were lonely and waiting to cuddle something. They were really too big for the bars I made so I cut them in half.
Lay the chocolate on the wrapper, fold the two short pieces first and then the long ones.
The foil is super thin so you can press it pretty flat.
These are also fun to wrap up your cake pops if you do simple decorations.
After your bars are all wrapped in foil, you can add paper wrappers.
I created these with different sayings.
Even one for the pinterest lovers out there.
Making your own wrappers is a cute gift or favor idea. Use the same process and create your own wrappers for your theme. You can turn any candy bar into something a little more special.
But now let me tell you why I really made these.
I bought something for myself a few weeks ago that I thought was the cutest thing ever.
Or at least the cutest thing that week.
It was on sale thank goodness. Wanna see?
It goes with the theme so far.
And it’s really what inspired these tiny wrapped chocolate bars.
But this chocolate is a little bit bigger.
And sassier.
The good thing is it won’t melt in my hands.

It’s pretty big, too. Actually it’s a really big clutch.
Big enough to carry all my cha cha chocolates.
Thankfully it has a chain strap, too.
And yes, I couldn’t help but make little Cha Cha labels. It’s just too much fun to say.
But I haven’t mentioned the best part about this bag. It turns out I didn’t just buy one.
Yep. Right now I have one for each hand and that just looks plain silly.

In our first year of marriage, my husband and I are enjoying many “firsts.” Yesterday was our first Valentine’s day hitched and he makes me happier with each passing day, so I’m looking forward to many more years together!

My boyfriend earned “Boyfriend of the Year” for our first Valentine’s Day 3 years ago when we were on an awful road trip driving my friend’s car and dogs from Phoenix to Seattle that I volunteered to do. The dogs rolled in dog poop and he immediately stepped in and wet-wiped them clean (it was all we had!) with no complaints. I knew he was a keeper and I’ve been trying to make it up to him on Valentine’s Day since, because he deserves it!

The person I would like to say something nice about is my husband to be. He is twenty years older than me, but that doesn’t really matter. He is kind, fun and very caring. For instance; when we had our baby on October 28th (c-section) he got to be home with us for two weeks and during that time he took care of EVERYTHING. I literally sat down for these two weeks. He took care of me and the baby, he vacuumed the house daily, he washed our clothes, he made every meal and even served me by the table so I wouldn’t have to stand up since I was in some pain, every morning and night he helped me to lie down and get out of bed, he made the beds, he ironed all the laundry so on and so forth. He really did everything and I could focus on our little girl and to heal.He is the most wonderful man in the world and I love him with all my heart. He is always there for me, no matter what.
My sweet little almost-3-year-old daughter got so into valentine’s day this year! she made everyone cards, made lots of “decorations” for the house and gave TONS of hugs and kisses, real AND chocolate! she is a great valentine!

I have to say something super sweet about my husband. I asked for a small bag of Lindt truffles for Valentines Day, poor guy got confused and ended up going to two Sam’s Clubs and two Costco’s yesterday in search of the truffles, instead of simply looking at Target or Walmart. He came home exhausted and defeated. Got to love him for making the effort!

15 years ago (I am 30 now) My high school sweetheart of 2 months bought me a gold necklace and took me to a Metallica concert for Valentine’s day. We have now been married 12 years and have two sons. That clutch is the cutest thing ever! Well besides my sweet husband. Yesterday I hosted an etiquette dinner for the 8-11 year old girls from my church. While I was busy preparing for that, my hubby made dinner for our family. He also rented the 1968 “Romeo & Juliet” DVD (my favorite) for us to watch once the kids were tucked in bed.

fabulous chocolates! Your attention to detail is amazing. My husband is my year-round Valentine. He had a vase of gerber daisy’s waiting for me yesterday. Those were the flowers I carried in my wedding bouquet. That he remembers that little detail makes me weak in the knees!!

I’m kind of known by our friends and family as “The Chocolate Lady”, more specifically, “The M & M Lady”. M & M’s are my favorite “comfort food”. I suffer with Lupus, arthritis and fibromyalgia. Every day I experience pain, but some days are worse than others. My husband (and best friend, I might add) does the grocery shopping for us. Well, he NEVER fails to see that I have a supply of sweets, particularly M & M’s, on hand in case I have a bad day. He not only sees that I have everything that I need, he’s gets me everything I want. I couldn’t have asked for a better husband and friend!

My Rob doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. I guess I don’t either – the only reason I would is that you get gifts, which is a day any girl would celebrate for no reason! XD But he doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day because he doesn’t believe you should shower people in love one day of the year – show them every day! He certainly does with me, he is the kindest and sweetest soul (to me) I have ever met, even if everyone else doesn’t think so. So I guess he does celebrate Valentine’s Day, just every day of the year!

My daughter Sarah loves chocolate, and how I would love to win that clutch for her! She is only seventeen, and has carried a mother’s load here the last couple of years, made very difficult by a rough seventh pregnancy and postpartum for me. Over the past few years, when people shake their heads and warn me about the challenges of the teen years, I have been so thankful for my gracious, responsible, hard-working daughter. Truly the sweetest part of this Valentine’s Day was watching some grown-up kids I know show love to others – planning and plotting and making and gathering litle treasures to the delight of others. Maybe they didn’t love handcrafts when they were small, but the impulse was planted and it really is a beautiful thing to see now.

I was at work on Valentine’s day at a coffeeshop (think big green logo…) A women came in and I said “Happy Valentine’s Day!” She said “I don’t have a Valentine”, so I bought her drink for her and she was so excited and said I made her day. Later in the day a customer handed me a tiny chocolate heart candy when I handed her drink to her! It was sweet and reminded me of the Beatles song lyric… The love you take is equal to the love you make (paraphrasing)!
Anyway- I have the best Valentine in the world- sweet, strong and patient. Love to all!

I will say something sweet about my friend Nat because she is always there when I need her. She’s there being silly with me in public, or watching horrible movies while making snarky comments, or listening to me whine, or talking about boys, or making geeky gingerbread houses, or … whatever. She is a brilliant artist and a great cook and when we lived together used to make me pancakes on Saturdays and lemon meringue pie for my birthday, and you just can’t put a price on that. Even though I’m living in Thailand, my mom sent me a valentine all the way from New York. She’s the best valentine I know.
Well, this isn’t about someone I love NOW but someone I could eventually love…this is a BIG deal in my book. So here’s the story: Tonight, Valentine’s Day 2012…I met a guy…from the internet…I know, I know, crazy, right? Well, this guy called me TWICE before we met, the first time we talked for an hour and a half and the second time we talked for two and a half hours. We talked about EVERYTHING. We decided to lay everything out on the table in the beginning. Well…he’s amazing. A-MA-ZING. I am so excited for this to bloom into something beautiful and I can’t wait to see what is to come on our next date…which is Friday night! :D

my boyfriend is always showering me with gifts (incl. a ks bag :o) just because he wants me happy! but i know he wants to save up so he can pay his way through university himself. this vday the sweetest gift among his gifts is a heart cushion from ikea. he attempted to sew his name neatly and he told me that from now on i can have his hugs everyday even when i don’t see him. (: he also made me realise how blessed i am to have so many people (incl. my family) caring for me whenever i tell him ‘i feel like shit’.

My sister was my valentine this year. We live in different cities, but she always manages to make my valentine’s day the best by sending me care packages to my dorm. Love her more than anything!

My husband forgets my birthday and “doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s day” but it doesn’t matter because in the muck of day to day life he is always there for me, supporting me and standing beside me.

My husband is my valentine. He is kind, loving, laid back, and supports me in everything I do. That’s why this year I overloaded him on sweets! I made him a special cake and some nonpareils (his favorite), and got him a bunch of heart-shaped candies. He’s stuffed with sweetness all the time, so I thought it was time to make that literal :)
Thank you, just wanted to say your blog has made me a bit more confident making tasting treats. I did not grow up bake goodies, in fact I can’t recall my family ever using our oven. But I love cookies and cakes too much to not try now that I’m on my own.
As for my special someone, it has to be my dad. I’m very proud of my parents and how they raised me. My dad is very generous when it comes to spending time with his family, and has always made that a priority. As for Valentine’s Day, he always made sure, my mom and I were his valentine’s, and would always have a small surprise for me (whether it was a piece of candy or a flower).

In the 20 years that I have been together with my husband, we have never been together on Valentine’s Day. Not a big deal. Oh how I love thee, let me count they ways. One, I adore my husband. He is a Lt. in the SF Fire Department and besides being a hero, he happens to be the most amazing, loving father and husband. Two, I love my daughter Olivia. She was born with an extremely serious cardiac heart defect known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. She is the epitome of love, beauty, tenderness and bravery. She is an inspiration to us in every way. Three, our baby girl, Ava. She completes our beautiful family in a way that only she could. She is stunning, sweet, hilarious, and charming. We are blessed. We’ve learned the hard way how truly delicate life is and to never waste a moment of it. On this Valentine’s Day and every day, we are thankful.
